OOC: I know that, but the UER likes being awkward if they can be. Besides, saying that the WCC is based in a nation friendly to the CSN could raise questions of nepotism and political voting by the Commission.

The UER always loses in the end and blames it on capitalist bias; also, they've lost their hosting bid, and the Japanese Empire lost their bid for the first World Cup (and since the UER tries to maintain continuity, that's twice that 'their people' have lost a bid). In their eyes, Asia's apparently not good enough to host the Cup, but they are good enough to send teams for the rest of the world to screw out of victories.

I was just wondering if there was a specific process for signing up, and if there are certain restrictions on the amount of land that newbs are allowed to have. Regardless, I would like to put down some kind of preliminary claim on France, with the possibility of extending it into Germany, Switzerland, etc. if so allowed.

You can certainly claim France. Switzerland is currently taken but you are welcome to claim France and eventually expand into Germany, perhaps invade someone to do it (which would be fun). I'm glad you have an interest and I welcome you here.

Quite on the contrary, our passion for our players is part of the reason behind this move. They themselves do not wish to travel to tournaments only to be defeated by questionable decisions; by holding our own interstate tournament, our players are given an opportunity to show their skills before spectators who respect them. When the previous World Cup was held, we stated that we would hold our own tournament if we failed to win; we refrained from doing so in the hopes that the World Cup Commission would show us due respect, aside from the 'Fair Play Award' we won last time.

We would be more than willing to compete if it could be guaranteed that our players would not be subject to questionable decisions by officials, but unfortunately we do not believe that such a thing would be possible. Several nations have expressed strong anti-communist sentiment as a national value, and we do not believe that officials from those nations would be able to officiate our games without their indoctrinated bias seeping through.

It is with a deep sense of annoyance that the Commonwealth acknowledges the host of the 2008 World Cup, as chosen by the Commission.

The COH was firmly on the side of the UER in wishing that this large, fairly respectable, stable and productive nation would be chosen as the host of the worlds premier sporting event.

Instead the WCC has chosen the CSN as the host, a nation that is unstable, un-respectable and unprosperous. To date the CSN has caused countless wars and killed millions of people while supporting terror and choosing to stay a rogue state in the eyes of many nations. It is truly shameful that a nation such as this could be chosen to host any kind of international event, never mind one with such a pedigree as the World Cup.

The COH does not agree with the internal or ideological policies of the UER, and for good reason. But this nation has brought peace and prosperity to billions of people across a massive swathe of this earth and whats more, they have not caused numerous wars or supported terrorists. In fact they have been a stabilizing force on the world stage and, despite their flaws in our eyes, we can only respect them for doing so and protest in the strongest terms that they have been overlooked as hosts for the World Cup 2008.

The decision to aware the CSN with the responsibility is nothing short of shameless and disgusting, as is the veritable silence from nations around the world in response to this decision.

We are also much displeased that the UER has decided to boycott the event and we implore them to reconsider. The COH does not recognize the CSN and has been to war with them on several occasions, but we will not boycott the World Cup as this achieves nothing. If the UER does not wish to attend then the COH would ask that it schedules its own soccer events either before or after the World Cup and we would furthermore wish to seek attendence at these events, to help show our own protest and disgust at the WCC's decision.

Had an interesting week, ended up making my final decision on joining the Marines...i'll be signed up monday, and I beat GTA IV and most of CoD 4 (Of which I would much rather prefer playing on a computer as playing on a 360 with the controller makes it hella hard to fucken aim...which is odd cause my aim in GTA IV is fucking amazing, headshot's up the ass with a best score for team deathmatch being 60 kills with 2 deaths.)

I gotta agree with Cot here, I remember seeing a documentary about US Marines where a woman smoked pot at a party the week before she joined up (actually it might have been the week before she reported to Boot, not sure) and they found traces of the drug and booted her. I'm not entirely sure on this but I think you have to be clean three months before any testing or you won't pass. Anyway, I reckon you made a good choice with the Marines, here's hoping your past excesses won't stand in your way.

There's a reason for not wanting to have dopeheads in war. If they're anything like Norway, they'll also press charges towards you with the police and get you into a whole lot of extra trouble.

Normally I'd just tell you to enjoy your recreational substances responsibly (I don't get the appeal, personally, but that's another matter) but I wouldn't suggest doing that with the military. You've heard "never be intoxicated on the job"...well, this is your job. Hopefully it'll be a fun one but it's still your job.

IIRC The British Army will let you off of it for your initial medical or if you disclose it as long as you dont do it while in-service, with the exception of LSD due to some rather nasty properties of said drug

I know it sounds childish but, I am really not interested in playing if I can't get my old lands back. Or I can just take them by force I suppose.

Because you only have a population of 5 million people you can only claim up to 50,000 square miles and Magadan is 178,000 and change. You wouldn't be able to claim the full of it until you reached 101 million people.

You could but the only restriction is population. At 5 million you are limited to 50,000 square miles and these are around 198,000 and change. You could claim either Austria or Czech but not Germany due to size.

Okay so I just watched Doomsday. I went to buy Gotham Knight after passing by fye today at lunch and it was in the rack next to it so I picked it up hoping it would be good. I've never seen it and I have to say, when I randomly buy a movie I've never seen I always pick a good one. Well I finished watching it and yes it has epicness. I have come to several epiphanies here watching the movie, especially about my unexplainable obsession with cannibalism. I can't say I would ever practice it, unless survival was an issue but as a literary device it is so truly epic. You can see it in several of my RPs actually (Infernal, Ascensión, and The Decayed). I was even thinking of adding it to The Treblinka Affair but I haven't fully decided or rather gotten any more written of that one. So who thinks it'll be in RTL? (IT WILL!)

So I smoke, big fucken whoop, not like I can get my hands on it in boot and its not like I'd even look for it in a combat zone...or well maybe I would...but still I won't be processed for awhile so I've got plenty of time to wait and within that time I don't plan on doing anything...may have some drinks but no smoke.

Also, what would be the point in booting someone out from the military just because of smoking weed, im sure there are plenty of other drugs out there that do alot more damage than weed so loosing willing manpower over something as such is a bit idiotic. I understand that drugs aren't exactly the best thing to have in a war zone but hell I would fight a bit more calmly if I was smoking.

Which will have as bad an effect on your employability in the private sector as a stint in prison. Consider this free advice, and clean up your game.

Russia has more men though. This could easily turn into another war of attrition (read: Chechnya).

I saw the Georgians moving into position earlier today, they certainly don't look anybody's fools. I saw digital uniforms, professional (21st Century) load bearing equipment and some well kept weapons (some Armalite's in there too, as well as the usual Russian stuff). There's no way they have enough tanks to stand up to Russia for too long (if Wikipedia is right, and it might very well not be) but their military is pretty well trained and equipped as they want to join NATO. Plus, a lot of the soldiers have combat experience in their own country as well as in Iraq, with the US Military and British having trained them a bit.
Basically, like Haw said, it'll be a chess game. Number-wise the Russians have the edge but who knows what can happen in these things.

Marine Corps elements have also been training large portions of the Georgian Army over the summer. I also just noticed today that the digi is actually MARPAT 0o. The Armalite thing isn't too surprising, I actually read about it on US Today back in June I believe.. maybe even earlier than that. All power to the little fuckers.. hope they prove a great thorn under the Bear's paw.

Oh, and I think Britain dumped a good number of their 'retired' APC's back during the Armalite deal - This whole conflict should prove interesting.

The State officially recognizes the Lariat 1A1L "Long Arm" Main Battle Tank (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=556542 - Made by Coorsota) in full numbers to being replacing in full scale all Merkava Mk. 4 MBT's in the field now. Any nation wishing to purchase the Merkava tanks will recieve a great discount (Not to mention free if certain quilifications are in order) At the moment 520 have been deployed out to new armored crews joining into service, remaining Merkava crews are being retrained with the Lariat.

The thread sorta died but the weapon is a very nicely detailed one...I had some things worked out to build a factory within the CSN to produce these so im just going with that even though with the threads death and such nothing came of it.

I read a report not so long ago by the American who was assigned with training Gogi, he said that they're not good for anything other then stealing. Gogi know nothing of war, there is some stories from a guy who keeps close contact with a Mi-24 pilot over there, Gogi line up their missiles right to the side of the Grad launchers, which is just a big explosion begging to happen. So far there has been 300 Gogi dead and 21 Russians. VDV and Spetsnaz have been mobilized to Ossetia so the number of dead Rodents should increase greatly in a few days. Russia will not stand by as those bastards carry out their ethnic cleansing.

Thats highly unlikely, if the Chinese attack us there will they get spare parts for their equipment? In either case, Russia's actions were just, and the portrayal this war gets in the Western media only goes to show that free press is a scam as they have failed to present anything that looks anything like the truth in their reports. It was Georgia who started this war, not Russia.

I find this interesting, Georgia agrees to sign a peace agreement with South Ossetia, then attacks them a few days later, starts bombing civilian infrastructure, kills 2 thousand people, creates 30000 refugees, shells barracks containing Russian peacekeepers without provocation and yet somehow the West still views Georgia as the victim in this. It is simply amazing how easily you guys can be manipulated.

ATTN Corbourne, I wanted to add you but you still haven't confirmed you claim.

After much contemplation, I have decided to return to Earth II. I will be writing a RP that vividly describes the death of the Prime Minister and the shadowy council that takes his place. Nerotika if you laid claim to any of those oblasts I once held by all rights they should be yours. I won't stand in the way of that at all. I am going to keep the main holdings of England, Spain, Morrocco and a few other places that will be listed once Layarteb gets the update finished. I am not interested in getting any of the lands back I gave away to OA members or GATO members and as far as Texas RomeW and I can work something out farther down the road on that issue.

Now the sad news, the main reason I took a leave was the pregnancy of my wife and the long list of to do's I had to handle associated with it. Unfortunately we lost the pregnancy a week or so ago. While difficult to deal with on an emotional level its a challenge that many have faced. We are both doing well after this tragic event and with each day move towards healing emotionally from the loss.

Keep this in mind, I will be involved in the school start up, etc. this week so my writings will probably be brief in nature. I have alot on my plate so to speak. Things always pop up and must be handled, but all in all I am serious about writing again.

I can live with that, an official neutral stance is sufficient. Consider that territory yours. As far as flag burnings go, as long as it isn't happening in downtown London, I am fine with it.

Yeah the system here is somewhat different. Each semester, its required that you take at least 30 points, for a total of 180 points for your bachelor's degree. Right now, I'm taking one year's worth of stuff in one semester so I just have to take one extra year after the year in the Air Force for my history bachelor.

At Hammerfest Naval Base, in the most northern reaches of Norway, the 1st Carrier Strike Group of the 4th Fleet of the Imperial Layartebian Navy, was pulling out of port and putting to sea. The fourteen ship group was centered around a Ynoga class light carrier and it had already pulled out of its dock at the naval base just after the Voodoo class destroyer and Caracas class helicopter carrier. It wouldn't be long before all fourteen vessels were out and heading out to the Norwegian Sea. They would transit the gray waters towards the southwest, making steam for the North Sea and, finally, the Baltic Sea where the group would reach their destination, eighteen hundred nautical miles or ten hours away.

Despite being small in comparison to the other naval group units of the ILN, the Carrier Strike Group still packed a heavy enough punch to bring many small nations to their knees in just a few hours. The core contingent of offensive power was a group of eighteen F-35B Raven multirole STOVL fighters aboard the Ynoga and an assortment of attack and utility helicopters, including ASW ones. They also carried six HV-24C Bulldog transports that could transport twenty-four troops each to any target inside of enemy territory with greater speed and maneuverability than any helicopter. Normally though, a Carrier Strike Group didn't carry troops with it except for a few SEALs aboard the Virginia SSN that moved along with it underneath the waves. However, this time, they were carrying a full regiment of over 2,000 Marines led by Colonel Michael Johnson, a veteran of the Conquests.

When all fourteen vessels had left port and made it into the Norwegian Sea, they assumed their combat formations with the newest contingent, an Acheron class guided-missile destroyer. Equipped with a 155 millimeter/62 caliber ETC main gun, a 120-cell VLS system aft and 16-cell system fore, a quad-launcher for AMESM missiles, eight missile tubes for heavy anti-ship missiles, and two triple-barrel torpedo launchers, the single Acheron could easily eliminate most enemy fleets. Against a single nation, the Acheron could bring, to bear, enough firepower to devastate any capital or military.

It's going to take a lot longer than 10 hrs to transit from Hammerfest all the way down to the Baltic. Besides, it'd be easier to go east into the Barents, down the White Sea and into the canal there (if Nero allows the passage, but that can be arranged *begins large-scale exercises on Cottish-Leningrad border*). However, if you do chose to transit down the Norwegian coast, expect at least one if not two days of sailing.

I am back. 60 Miles in 5 days. It will take a day or two to get back into the flow of things.

I'd like to lay claim to Juan de Nova Island if possible. I really haven't been paying attention so if it is Newbs only that is fine.

Also I kind of forgot what me and Hirg worked out for the Haw lands but as long as I didn't make a land swap deal with hirg I'd be more then willing to hand those lands back to Haw.

It's going to take a lot longer than 10 hrs to transit from Hammerfest all the way down to the Baltic. Besides, it'd be easier to go east into the Barents, down the White Sea and into the canal there (if Nero allows the passage, but that can be arranged *begins large-scale exercises on Cottish-Leningrad border*). However, if you do chose to transit down the Norwegian coast, expect at least one if not two days of sailing.

Yeah definitely my mistake should have been 100. I was calculating a speed of 18 knots. Typos are fun.

Ladies and gentlemen I want to give a total and complete congratulations to Usain Bolt. The dude is faster than fast. He basically ran the 200m covering 32.8 ft/sec and my best was around 24.6 ft/sec. For comparison that is like my ass being a P-51 and him being an F-22.

Michael Johnson is still the #1 most uber runner of all time in my books but damn Bolt is das uber!

As a side note to anyone. I am interested in "redoing" an old RP of mine. Only in Time Can Pain Fade... (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=395088) is the RP. Is anyone interested in participating? The outcome will more or less be the same but I want to go further into detail. My writing has evolved significantly since 2005 and I have a lot more backstory written about both Delaney and Kaliningrad that I had not gone into back then.

I might take part to improve my rp'ing
