In exactly eleven hours, I'll be getting ready to go through the big-ass exam I've been preparing for for three months now. 2000 pages of ancient history will now be compressed to a roughly 8-10 page long essay about some bullshit that I'll probably not remember half of while I'm writing it, and that if I'm lucky will land me a C or D. In other words, I'll be dead by this time tomorrow. Cause of death? Frustration, depression and anguish. Wish me luck!

We don't need them man, we'll make ours more badass and macho, I saw a ball sack hanging from a car the other day, I think our station deserves some balls too, except bigger.

"Spaceballs" eh? That's a great name for this thing!

The Great Leap Upward! All those who are not involved with the competing station may sign up; I believe that we already have the Empire of Layarteb and the United Federation of Eurasia onboard. The Realm of Cotland will be welcome if they pull out of the competing venture (Lay's idea, don't blame me).

Good luck to both station efforts, and may the one with communists win.

Hey man- no stealing members! Get your own!

Official Communique

Priority: High
Recipient: Global Community
Origin: Empire of Layarteb - Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Classification Level: Confidential
Subject: Juína

The Empire of Layarteb is deeply plagued by the events that have unfolded in Juína. It is not our intention to kill innocent civilians. However, as is the policy of the Ministry of Defense, the Empire will not comment publicly upon any current operations. Let it be known that the Empire shall conduct a full investigation into this occurrence and if the participating parties are found to be guilty of negligence, they will be punished accordingly.

The Empire shall not, under any circumstance, submit this case to an international tribunal nor allow a foreign country or government body to pass judgement upon those who participated. The Empire will not recognize any judgement or case of similar nature and should any attempt at force be made, the Empire will see it as a direct violation of the Doctrine of Sovereignty and take immediate action henceforth.

The situation in Mato Grosso is very fragile and highly critical. The government has taken no action to stop or even impede the flow of arms and insurgent fighters across the border into the Amazonian Territory, where Layartebian forces are working diligently to restore stability. This region has a four decade long history of strife and just recently, in May, that history cost the lives of several hundred thousand Venezuelan citizens. The Empire has taken just action against the former Amazonian Republic for their support of that war and continues to hold the guilty accountable. The government of Mato Grosso has not cooperated and the Empire must take matters into our hands to protect our borders and our citizens.

The Empire holds skepticism to the number of dead that the Mato Grosso government has claimed. Reconnaissance has observed that building taken a steady flow of insurgent fighters using tunnel networks to harass Layartebian forces in the border control zone. Our strike was just and though it shall be reviewed, we maintain the fullest level of confidence in our armed forces. We would not at all be surprised if these "civilians" were planted by insurgent forces to coax an unsuspecting and gullible global community into condemning our actions.

The Empire also finds it appalling that the governments of the world would pass condemnation upon the Empire as we defend ourselves from a clear and present danger. It is all too easy to condemn and sit thousands of miles away, ignoring the hard facts of this war, a war that was started not by the Empire but by forces conspiring against the common good. Should we deem it necessary to take due course of action against the global community it would be in accordance with the Doctrine of Sovereignty.

Lastly, the Empire is especially displeased with our fellow allies of the October Alliance. Your lack of support for our own domestic defense has led us to believe that the October Alliance is not entirely supportive of the policies of the Empire. Should it be the case, the Empire would see no benefit in remaining within the October Alliance. Our sovereignty is of the utmost importance, over all nations, friend or foe.

Sincerely,
The Emperor

Sleep is your friend, especially here. The brain needs a break every now and then and if you have to sleep and review upon waking up, it's always better than staying up all night and "forcing" your brain to remember everything (which will probably discard what it's being forced). I know this from experience- I always did better if I had the right amount of sleep.

The world has seemingly tilted its head upwards in the general direction of the stars. A recent rush of global powers to create international space stations and land men on the moon has left this country wondering why they haven’t joined the party. Later today an official statement was made by Windhoek. Enclosed in this was a rather blunt and controversial message. The general belief in the capital is that the world itself is entirely to volatile and the United States will take no part in brining such hate and hostility to a place of inherent peace and wonder. Many cynics residing in Windhoek feel that conflict will soon follow these star goers if they cannot reside conflicts on Earth. However, in light of all of this, they did hint towards the creation of a national space program that would not be influenced by outside powers. Official word seems far off if ever and many eager and excited star gazers have been left in the metaphoric star dust.

In other news former Bjornoyan Professor, Dr. Lang, has announced that he has once again recovered his team of economic analysts and will begin conducting national surveys to update his famous report. When asked about the survey he remained quite hesitant but said this, “Many of the same factors will be taken into account, but we have added much more and hopefully we will be able to give a more accurate reading.” Reports indicated he will be working alongside economists from the International Trade Commission. The ITC, headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa, has also announced that it should be making its non classified records publicly accessible. (OCC That means I am going to try and post some info)

Furthermore the ITC has announced that it plans to conduct a number of different national surveys that would calculate such things as military strength to happiest population.

In sports news the Champion’s Elite League is set to being within the next month. The Free Agency is almost over and the first global club league in history is near kick off.

In local news protests have only increased outside the Layarteb embassy after their reply to the global community for their actions against civilians. Usually good relations with the country are on thin ice as 80% of the US is appalled by their actions. So far the protests have encountered no violence and therefore no police intervention has taken place. Nevertheless there have been a small number of reports of Layarteb citizens being abused in public.

Finally Cape Town has announced the creation of the very first Under Water University. Stationed off of the coast of Cape Town the university will feature state of the art classrooms, all of which are below the Ocean’s sea level. The University will obviously specialize in Marine Biology and Research. Students and faculty will park on land and enter a subway like rail link which will transport them to the main facility off of the coast.

The University hopes to serve as the world’s premier Marine Biology University and therefore is open to students from all nations. All of this technology and construction comes at a high price as tuition fees are especially high. Not to mention that Cape Town is an unavoidably expensive city and living on campus will inherit those traits as well.

Cottish Space Adventure Shifts Gear
By Thomas Sørli

After a fiery debate in the Storting which was on the brink of turning into a fist-fight, which would have been the first of its kind in the Storting for fifty years, the proposal of President of the Storting Thor Landjag to join the Roman space program was voted down at a vote of 77-73, making it the closest vote yet in the Storting to pass.

Instead, the proposal that Representative Bjørn Quist fronted, to join the "Great Leap Upwards" space programme started by the United Eastasian Republics won the vote. The premature proposal made by President Landjag to the Romans will therefore be withdrawn as it has no parliamentary backing, and instead be directed to the "Great Leap Upwards". The premature offer made by the President consisted of a five billion Universal Standard Dollar financial contribution as well as the use of the Realm's six Space Transportation Vehicles.

There has been no official comment from His Majesty's Council, but anonymous officials say that the shifting attention of the Cottish Space Administration will "be beneficial for the Realm, both economically and diplomatically."

OOC: Ah, okay. Well, naturally, since Vatican City is inside of the City of Rome (well, it's more a suburb but you get the idea) that's where I naturally assumed you were talking about as one of the places. I never came across either Villa or Palazzo Malta before, actually (not that I recall- I do remember visiting the Vatican as a kid (and in 2000), so maybe I came across both in touring Rome (my parents are Roman but I live in Canada) but I just don't remember).

In any case, I do want to establish a few things:

First of all, "Vatican City" in the context of Earth II does not exist- the "Mons Vaticanus", which the RL City is situated on, does, but it's formally a part of the City of Rome itself.

Second of all- as I noticed you mentioned "a wrest of land" in your post- I am going to make it clear that I am not officially giving up any part of the City of Rome (if that's what you were getting at. If not, I apologize). We can discuss Villa Malta and Palazzo Malta as embassy grounds, but that's the extent of it.

Don't mean to sound overtly possessive, but this *is* my capital city we're dealing with.

IC:

We appreciate your intent to be involved in the International Space Research Centre and we look forward to having the opportunity of working with Orderial scientists. As far as the meeting is concerned, I will enclose contact information for which you can arrange your visit.

If its Frisbeteria he's a mod, and the post he deleted was probably flaming and/or flamebait. I imagine the non Earth II person posted some chide remark and Cot scolded them then reported him to the Mod's section for removal.

So long as it's considered MT.

Thank you both. I've looked at the Tech thread on the forum. Is genetics (Super Soldiers) on a smaller scale, Allowed?

I can put in overall ratings for now- I don't have team lists at the moment (most of the teams are RL (including "The Strongest") though). I didn't bother putting in players because I thought there would be a draft.

Oh, okay. I don't believe I have a lot, though...I think all I've done is score four goals in two tournaments. :(

EDIT- Are all the players going into the draft or can I stick them on teams? Because some of them already have a club.

All Players you put on the board will be drafted. Now I ask for the sake that you don't withhold your *good* players to place them on your teams. Though it has no real difference it adds realism to the game. After those players are picked there will still be ALOT of positions that need to be filled which you can do.

The Colony of Denmad in Brazil, consisting of the states of Paraíba and Pernambuco has been declared a "Special Economic Zone" by the Ministry of Commerce. A Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a geographical region that has economic laws that are more liberal than a country's typical economic laws. It shall be regarded as a Free Trade Zone. All countries, even those without Free Trade Agreements, can partake in this aspect. The cities of João Pessoa in Paraíba and Recife in Pernambuco shall be built up to become a single, cohesive megalopolis.

The Colony of Denmad will be protected solely by the Imperial Layartebian Military and by no other foreign force. The Empire of Layarteb will regard the Colony of Denmad as part of our Empire. As such it has been protected by the Doctrine of Sovereignty (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=460089) underneath Article XV, which is stated below.

Article XV: The Colony of Denmad

Section I: The Colony of Denmad, which has been afforded the status of a Special Economic Zone, shall be subject to all provisions underneath this doctrine except where noted otherwise, which includes but is not limited to maritime, airspace, and territorial limits.
Section II: States without Free Trade Agreements with the Empire of Layarteb may be afforded with the rights of Free Trade within the Colony of Denmad.
Section III: Though sovereign territory of the Empire of Layarteb, the Colony of Denmad shall be subject to different civil laws and code, fitting with its status.
Section IV: The Empire of Layarteb reserves all rights and privileges afforded to the administration of the Colony of Denmad.
Section V: Acts of espionage shall be subjected to the same punishments as they would anywhere else in the Empire of Layarteb.
Section VI: Any foreign power or force defying the provisions set fourth in this doctrine shall be subject to immediate repercussions.

States willing to participate in this venture must place applications into the Ministry of Commerce for their respective entities. Investigations shall take place as necessary.

No, no I wasn't going to do that- a lot of my national team members are not on clubs already, but some are, however, and I do want to keep those. In any case, I'm having trouble finding my team (I used the same World Cup team both times) so I don't have players at the moment.

Signed,
Caesar Gnaeus Valerius Maderia

OOC: I can't start the thread until- probably- at least late Sunday night, so you may start the thread before then and I'll respond.

I have to say I'm looking forward to dealing with The Knights of St. John- they were one of my favourite figures in history :).

OOC: I was thinking more like an Embassy Grounds, yes. I said it in a more authoritative way since that's sort of how the Grand Master presents him self..even in the eyes of someone with, perhaps, more power ;).

Yes, well I'm establishing a sort of unique Embassy idea..They are 'technically' Embassies, but think of the French Embassies.. They act as Embassies to other Countries, while at the same time 'recruiting' centers for those interested in the Foreign Legion. Not that I'm proposing that I'm going to try to go "Hey, you, yea..you..join us" just that it'd be there in/on the Embassy Grounds. So, the name of such Embassies would actually be "Chapter Houses". don't know if that's a bit off, or not..but it sounded pretty nice to myself.

Anyways, yea..been a tad bit busy lately, hopefully we can get to posting about this later tonight..oh, and funny - I'm French and Roman..odd little mix.

So you want to create Embassies that are, in essence, foreign chapters of the Knights of St. John? That's okay. We can deal with the semantics in the thread.

Well, England were doomed anyway- especially after that "fine save" Scott Carson made on Niko Cranjcar...

There's no UK teams in Euro 2008, am I correct? Whatever- the Italians are through (even though the referee gifted them that game against Scotland- fan or not, that should've been Allan Hutton's free kick), so I'm good. :)

Its national teams in there and no UK is not going, all they had to do was get a tie with Hungary, but they lost and we beat the Andorans, and now we're going. Its fantastic, Im so happy I want to stab someone, is that normal? I haven't felt this way since 2004, the last time we went, we only stayed there for two weeks though, but we had a shitty coach and our team was made of oldies, now its all different, this new guy Hidding, who is the new coach knows how to pick his team members, he puts Zenit (my team, St.Petersburg team) players on the field often. And although we don't get Haggen, Zenit's imported Norwegian tank since he is not a citizen and can't play for our national team we still get Arshavin and Bistrov, even though he left for Spartak (had a disagreement with the last coach, plus apparently Bistrov is a cocky son of a bitch, thinks he is Figo, it was a bad day for Zenit he is a great player can outrun a cheetah, and what was worse after he left and joined Spartak, Spartak won the game against Zenit, Bistrov scored the winning goal for Spartak, lifted his shirt and started running around the field, he had words "I am MEAT" written on his back in red, МЯСО or meat is of course how everyone who doesn't like Spartak refers to it. Overfunded Moscow bastards....you know what now that I think about it fuck Bistrov he is a traitor, could have went atleast to CSKA or Dinamo or Lokomotiv or some other well funded club that Zenit doesn't have a long standing rivalry with.)...I was going to say that Bistrov is still in Zenit at heart but after the conversation I had with myself in the parenthesis I say fuck Bistrov. Zenit got the first place in the Russian national tourney this year though, next step UEFA, I mean its kinda about time; Zenit's anthem says it clearly "We will win the cup of UEFA" so I think those guys need to start moving towards that goal a little faster, CSKA already got ahead of em by actually getting it like 3 years ago...yeah...pff CSKA, the Central Army Sports Club, all they do is buy a bunch of Brazilian players...the only good Army club is SKA, Sports Club of the Army and it plays hockey in St.Petersburg, my friend plays for the junior team (16-18 year olds) professionally, will try to get into the main team or atleast its reserves, good way to avoid getting drafted.

Ah, okay...didn't think so (it was the Croats the English had to beat, not Hungary- just to clarify. Figured that might have been lost in your delirium :D). Actually, I posted before you edited the pst, so I managed to read it. Your friend is in the junior ranks of CSKA? May I ask his name? Because I'm hopeful one day I'll see him in the National Hockey League :).

Congrats Zenit won- I don't know that much else regarding Russian soccer so I can't comment on that (except to say that CSKA aren't that bad on the European front- they come up on a lot of people and might have tied Inter (my team) if the goalkeeper didn't made a terrible blunder on Walter Samuel's free kick). One thing though- did Alexander Smertin play? I like the guy so I'm curious.

Not CSKA, but SKA, CSKA is the Central Army Sports Club based in Moscow, they play hockey as well as football, SKA is in St.Petersburg, they play hockey since Zenit is our only football team. His name is Gleb Tatarchyuk. He's doing all that training in Finland every year for the past half a decade I think he got a good chance of going professional and yeah like any Russian hockey player he dreams of one day playing in the NHL.

Unfortunately I couldn't watch the game being in US...I was at work then the two Russian channels I get here were rolling it so I don't know. CSKA? Don't get me started on CSKA, if Spartak are just a bunch of wannabes, CSKA are sell outs. I read games and watch clips, sometimes tape em but honestly my love for football has been going down until I heard that Zenit won the championship of Russia.

I will definitely watch the Euro this summer though, even though Im probably not going to Russia as I originally planned.

Pushka, don't even try and take Kenya, you have no chance. Just look at the geography. If you attempt to take it after I have said this I will put up a Naval blockade on the Kenyan coast and send troops from Sudan, Ethiopia and Uganda in before your forces get anywhere near the coast.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tri-Border Area, Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia and the former Kreynorian Kenya

One of the last fully militarized borders in the Commonwealth was in Africa, between Kenya and three Hirgizstanian states. The Kreynorians had never really been a big threat, but several crises and flare-ups had more than justified the huge border defenses and BDF outposts and bases.

Many of those outposts had watched as the country simply failed, with the Kreynorian border police becoming less and less visible until one day, an Officer from their nearby HQ at Lake Rudolf had shouted across the border on a bullhorn to the Hirgizstanians that the nation had simply collapsed. No one was all that sure why he had the courtesy to tell them, but some in the press following the events in Kreynoria had been suggesting intervention and possibly a complete takeover if the country was to fail, perhaps he had access to Hirgizstanian newspapers.

The main reasons for a takeover were economics and common sense. On the economics side, Kenya was a very fertile nation with a healthy crop output and grazing for livestock. Mineral deposits also abounded, especially in the more mountainous central regions. The coastline and Lake Rudolf also provided ample fishing grounds. The common sense part was the security on the border area could be laxed, for a cut in taxes, and another vital nation in Africa would come under GATO control.

The week after the collapse of the Kreynorian regime led to strange meetings being held within view of the BDF guard towers along the border, with Kreynorians driving out and shouting to the Hirgizstanian soldiers to open the gates and welcome a new state. Former Officials in the Eastern, Rift Valley and Western regions implored the Hirgizstanian's to open the gates or to do something. Violent clashes had already spread throughout Nairobi and Mombasa as the army and police tried to keep control in a state that had no official leadership.

Naturally, the Hirgizstanian Congress took notice and decided to declare Kenya a 'New State Project', which was a title for a country/region/state that could be then taken over by the Commonwealth and amalgamated into the Federal System.

The NSP legally allowed the Border Defense Forces to "advance to nearest civil points and establish first control". This basically meant that BDF along the border would assemble at the closed crossing points and cross over into the new state, advancing to the nearest large town and setting up some form of new officialdom while waiting for the regular military forces to assemble and arrive.

The BDF forces entered Kenya from three places on the Uganda side, two places on the Sudan side and eight places on the Ethiopian side. In a joint operation, ships of the Coast Guard patrolling south of the Suez Canal turned around and headed out past the horn in Somalia, cruising down to Kenyan waters and setting up security patrols in and around the coastline.

In the meantime the Army, Air Force and Marines were organizing various forces that would eventually go into the country and establish order and control properly. Thus far, an Airborne drop was going into Nairobi in a few days time, with a Marine landing force preparing to go in to Mombasa and Lamu along the coast, with regular mechanized Infantry forces entering from Uganda, Sudan and Ethiopia whenever they were ready.

Oh, the UER is so watching everyone who just claimed their first Pacific islands. Poor Pacific islanders, they shall never know equality now that the imperialists have stamped all over them.....

We welcome the Pacific Islanders into the Republic with open arms. We don't ask them to become citizens if they don't want to and we totally respect all customs and traditions each tribe maintains on the islands we incorporated into the Republic. In fact the only thing we frown upon is cannibalism, but we can't legislate everything and in the deep abyss of Papau New Guinea I am sure someone has/is hunting another human being from time to time.

Holy Republic to start Solar Power Plant in Australian Northern Territory

Interior Minister Joseph Gains announced plans today to construct an 850 megawatt solar power generation plant on a site north of Alice Springs on the edge of the Simpson Desert. The location, selected for its amount of sunlight received yearly, will become the hub for the power in the Northern Territory and will supply all of the city of Darwin and Alice Springs needs. In addition to this the Ranger Uranium Mine is expected to receive an added boost of power for the proposed expansion of the plant.

The reason why I've been out of touch for a while is because of an infection in a tooth that required a very painful root canal. And just when I thought I was in the clear, the pains continued, forcing me to return to the dentist where we found out that a wisdom tooth wants to get out from hiding in the very back of my lower right jaw. Unfortunately, there's no room for it, so they're going to have to cut it out. My dentist is working on getting me to a specialist so they can do it, but in the meanwhile I've been put on a strong penicillin cure after powerful painkillers offered no pain relief. To put it short, I've just been through four plus days of hell, filled with pain, and the pains are only now starting to subside. It still hurts like fucking hell, but now the pains are low enough for me to be able to think relatively straigh. Don't expect any RPing from me in the immediate future guys. Lay, you might wanna put me on D13. Pains are picking up, so I'm gonna get more painkillers and see if I can't sleep some (the longest I've slept on one stretch for these past four days is two hours).

Well that sucks, I gone through similar shit too, I ripped my back and chest summer 06 helping my granddad in the village (lots and lots of planks) and then my chest and back hurt like a motherfucker for the next 6 months (eh...I took pills about 2-3 days out of the month, we didn't have the real painkillers since I felt they were for pussies [good idea, especially then it hurts to breath] and only had some herbal pills we got from Russia, they didn't help much, I stopped taking those cause I ran out like two months before the pain stopped) cause that shit wouldn't stop hurting, being a hypochondriac that I am I started thinking it was lung cancer day two of the pains. It'll come and pass man, happy healing.

I thought that you weren't going to be taking things personally anymore, Pushka. It's a game, a bloody game. Not the type of game where you win or lose, but the kind of game where you're supposed to have fun doing something that you wouldn't normally do. So what if they challenged your claim, laugh it off, or better yet see it through and see what happens.

I've had people challenge some of my claims in the past. When I rejoined EII, the Island of Rose claimed China after I did, ignored my claim and took half the country. I was annoyed, but I let it go (admittedly after my state adopted some threatening behaviour towards him). I soon got the rest, and a bit more. Imaginary land isn't worth wanting people hit by buses, just have patience. All good things come to those who wait. I know it's easy for me to say, but it worked for me.

That being said, Hirgy could have just said "I counter-claim Kenya" without adding the whole "Pushka, don't even try and take Kenya, you have no chance. Just look at the geography. If you attempt to take it after I have said this I will put up a Naval blockade on the Kenyan coast and send troops from Sudan, Ethiopia and Uganda in before your forces get anywhere near the coast" bit.

Now, I'll probably get yelled at by one or more people, but I'm beyond caring anymore. I'm British, people bitch all the time in this country. Also, I've worked in a theme park; I've had people complaining because they got stung by a bee on park property, because you know that we control nature. You guys are easy listening compared to that.

All you have to do is look at the map of Africa and you can easily see why they countered the claim. It makes as much sense as if a Caribbean island or a East Asian territory opened up and Me and Mari countered any made claim. It's their backyard so you have to expect some resistance to any foreign power coming in to make a claim. Hell I could have done a similar thing with the Midway Islands, in a way because of my presence in Hawaii but I don't really have any desire for them and the Pacific isn't really my backyard.

The Empire of Layarteb cannot and will not feasibly support the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan in their endeavor in Kenya. We do not feel it is in our best interests to do so. We feel that the recent displeasure the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan has expressed towards us in regards to the Mato Grosso incident is due more towards animosity felt towards our own nationstate by the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan than by any rational reasoning. In addition, the actions of the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan at the Sapporo Conference have forced our hand. The Empire will be expressing deep and personal displeasure with the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan at the next October Alliance meeting.

Classification Levels

Standard: Standard classification is the normal level of encryption. It is equivalent to the standard levels of encryption seen on most secure e-mail clients.

Confidential: Confidential classification is a higher level of encryption than "Standard" but it is not heavily encrypted. It is used mostly for flash traffic to foreign countries and requires some additional decoding time. It uses 512-bit RSA encryption methods and has several key ciphers that change unpredictably.

Secure: Secure communiques use 1024-bit RSA encryption and several key ciphers within them that change unpredictably to ensure that message traffic is not hacked or decoded. Access to said messages would require heavy cracking software and significant resources but it is not "uncrackable." It can be a viable level through 2010.

Encrypted: Encrypted classification is the second highest level of classification. It is uses 2048-bit RSA encryption and multiple key ciphers within it to ensure that cracking it would take such a significant amount of time to accomplish that, should it be done, the message's usefulness would have already expired. Though anything is crackable, because of the methods employed, this level is often considered "uncrackable" by current capabilities. To ensure revolving protecting, ciphers and encryption algorithms will change unpredictably. This level is sufficient until 2030.

Maximum: Maximum classification is the highest level of classification available. It uses 3072-bit RSA encryption and multiple key ciphers that change unpredictably. It can provide protection past 2030.

Experimental: Currently not a fully recognized level, experimental denotes a category using 15360-bit RSA encryption and multiple key ciphers that change unpredictably. It is not in full operational use as of yet.

On the Kenya issue I side more with Pushka here- I mean, he *did* get there first, there's no question about that; and I know I wouldn't like it if someone tried to take away a claim I made first. Still, I don't think it was handled well (I know you don't like Hirgizstan, Pushka, but your relations with him- and maybe the possibility of keeping some or all of Kenya- certainly won't improve if your first reaction to his move is to wish that he gets hit by a bus), and, given the IC struggles between TOA and Russia, certainly not that much out of line. It's also not like Hirg is actively trying to evict you from E2 or something like that either.

Anyway, I still think the best course of action would be negotiation, or at least a RP- whining and complaining certainly won't improve the situation, that's for sure.

As the only member with a coup on hand, I'm glad to say that the situation appears remarkably better than the outset at which I arrived last time - the last time being the imminent possibility of another war in Russia over trains and stuff. At least it's worked its way into Africa (share the wealth!) and other places more diffuse.

That said, I really want someone to kill General Singha, so TG me if you're interested - please post resume of special forces sent to kill him (hopefully, this will be an intelligible RP too).

Where is no room for negotiation. Hirgy is Hirgy, that says all of it. But this is ridiculous, every time I claim something where is a TOA member to counter me , I claim in Russia Cot counters, he did with Panthea, he did with Doom, in both cases deals were reached but in the Panthea case not a beneficial one to me. I claim Argentina, Pine counters, Lay rallies behind him, now I claim in Africa, Hirgy jumps at the opportunity to screw me over. And then people have the nerve to call my hate of TOA irrational. I can take out Hirgy, I can take out Cot, I can take out Lay, I can't take out all of them at once, this RP would have been much more interesting was there no TOA. I'll yield Kenya to Hirg cause I have no other choice, I would prefer taking the time assembling my whole army in Yemen and going genocidal on his ass, but I can't since he'll be able to incorporate Kenya into his country by then and then all the October Alliance nations will get involved if I attack him. Does anyone finally see what I am talking about? But atleast these experiences are revealing, I now know that Brink is also my enemy which removes uncertainty thus allowing me to plan for the future. One day I will go genocidal on their asses, I can't do it now but I will most certainly make it my business the moment I am capable.

I also have a company called Hybrid Technologies looking for investment capital for a geothermal power plant to try and equal the output of the Solar Plant.

The Uranium Mine at Ranger is also expanding, plus I am looking at rebuilding the infastructure with roads simliar to what was constructed in Africa throught TATO. In short lots of things going in Northern Territory Australia. With lots of investment opportunities. I can't finance all these projects on my own, I will need some assistance.

If you need cheap nuclear energy, thats the thread you should visit, I didn't list any write ups of plants but thats because the lay out of the plant really depends on where it is going to be built. Thats also why I made it EII only since I realize that I can't do too many people at once. So yeah, need energy, post requests where.

We may be able to work something out Pushka. I have built my own nuclear plants before, but I think we can work something out on the FTA's for investment purposes. Let me know what you are specifically looking at in the FTA's. I don't necessarily like "blanket" agreements they are to general and hurt specific business interests in folks countries they may want to protect in the interest of national security of economic security.

If time works here as it does in NS in general (1 RL day = 1 NS year), you beat Hirgizstan by roughly half a RL day (several NS months), meaning you had enough time to assemble something capable of protecting Kenya. Hirgizstan couldn't have blocked you from going there because you were there first.

As far as TOA incursions are concerned- I haven't been following your entire E2 career here but I can say I've never seen a situation where you've tried to be cordial with TOA and attempt to reach some kind of common ground. You've been pretty hostile towards them right from the start- hence, it's no surprise they're returning the favour.

Well lets see, we could start out slow, say an FTA that would allow private persons in our governments to invest in each other's energy companies as well as reduce taxes on products related to that sphere. Say your company decided to purchase some sort of equipment by a company located in Russia, this FTA would reduce the border taxes on that equipment as well as allow transportation of it onto your territory and vice versa. When once some time passes we can move on to other things, I wouldn't mind having a trading partner in western Russia for my lands where. So basically lets start with energy, then eventually if things stay well we can move on to consumer products. Actually if Rome wants to get in on this, since he is in the region where all three of our countries are close by we can sign a three side agreement concerning this, the Eurasian line is already where so the trading channels already exist, we just need to start moving stuff through them. So I guess it wouldn't be an FTA but a PTA, which is a start.

Thats not how time goes on here, we got 'fluid' time here and the fact that he borders that nation means that logically it would take him less time to move his troops in then for me to ship mine over from Yemen. I have tried to find middle ground with certain TOA nations, Cotland for example, neither have I been hostile with them all the time, then I just started out Cot and Lay were actually my allies. So its really the question of who started it, my point of view naturally is that it wasn't me. It all started with the Eurasian Line, then NG tried to make it the first time, I refused to go along with it, NG sent a sub that sank outside my waters, then Lay sent a spy ship disguised as a civilian vessel, somewhere along those lines VCO was created and all of its members were displeased with TOA. They may deny it now, those few that still remain on EII, but its a fact, we were all participating, we were all planning our war against TOA on a global scale, and then people started dropping out at some point although nothing has actually changed. Elephantum dropped out first, which was strange because a day before he posted global map with pointers on where to attack TOA, then Bjorn most naturally, he was friendly with TOA and jumped at the chance to backstab me, then Mari, a few people left EII all together, where was like Neuvo Rica left and he got out too saying that he believes in what Im doing but doesn't see how just the two of us can win. So basically everyone switched camp on me and I decided to stay and wait for the better time. Thats what why we didn't like TOA, it bullies the world, TOA people put their nose in things that do not concern them. Recently I have made moves to find the middle ground with more TOA nations since hell I did my best in fighting the good fight, but progress ain't that good and I might be reverting back if nothing changes, of course thats what the conference a lot of em will attend is for.

I think this is an agreeable arrangement. Energy related FTA's. Foreign investment isn't taxed when relating to infastructure projects i.e., water plants, sewer plants, rail lines, roads, energy. Another small little tidbit the profits aren't taxed on power plants and the like because of a "public good" clause in the constitution. This keeps money flowing into infastructure projects at both the bond and private investor level. The FTA will really help out when purchasing supplies and materials to construct the projects. Its going to be cheaper to purchase steel, and spun wire from the region than for me to ship it from Sweden, England, or Texas. Building the plant is fairly easy building the transmission towers and lines and connecting the plant to the Power grid is going to be the challenge. Weather, distance, terrain are all going to play against this project.

I see this is as a positive step forward, for both of our nations. Let me know how many investors you have rounded up, I may turn this power plant project into a thread. Are any of my neighboring Aussies interested in this?

Alice Springs Airport to be expanded

With the development of the new Solar Power Generation Plant outside of Alice Springs, the local government has announced plans to expand the dual runways at the Alice Springs Airport to 12,000 feet to allow for heavily laden supply planes to begin landing with project materials. It is expected the expansion project will take one year. A third concrete 12,000 feet runway is under construction to allow for even more air traffic to utilize the growing facility.

We wish to expand the power generation grid to connect all our neighbors into our system. The plan is to allow for power generation sharing if you will across borders. The problem is the rather outdated and underdeveloped transmission system currently in place. As we talked a bit earlier, steel towers and heavy transmission lines will have to be constructed to make sure all of our cities have the power they currently need and what power they may need in the future. If we all work together in this system we can assure uninterrupted service for all citizens. Make no mistake about this its an adacious project to rival the great roman road we helped the Roman Empire embark on many years ago. If we build up the infastructure in Australia the economic windfalls that will become available are truely unlimited.

Solomon Islands are really just going to sit pretty. I'm not going to do all that much to them. I'm going to keep them as such except for San Cristobal, which will become a military fortress. New Caledonia I'm going to make protected land to preserve its gorgeousness but the existing military facilities on the island will be reactivated and put back into service but no new ones shall be constructed.

Well guys, I had the surgery two and a half hours ago, and the tooth was a stubborn little son of a bitch, just like its previous owner ;) It had a hook on one of its roots, so the surgeon had to split it three times before it would come out. I was fortunately under heavy sedation, but he still yanked and pulled and drilled through bone in order to get it out. The sedation's still in effect so I'm more or less coherent (it's almost like being drunk), but I tried to take a sip of water a few minutes ago which the wound didn't agree to. Sharp pain, blood and the feeling of almost passing out are que words here. So, I'll be gone for a few more days. Just wanted you all to know that I'm still alive and that the surgeon did a great job getting the motherfucker out. Next stop: Bed!

Also being constructed is the world’s second largest wildlife preserve. This preserve will cover nearly 16,000 square kilometers along Botswana’s Okavango Delta.

In conjunction with these preserves a multibillion dollar tourism program is scheduled to allow world travelers to experience the vast wildlife and natural beauty like no other place on earth. LOL...I understand...however, in their defence, technically our Earth isn't bound by RL borders so it would be possible to divide Kenya in half (or in thirds or sixths or whatever). Plus doing it halfway just means you have to just take Kenya's square mileage and simply cut in half, instead of scrounging around for area calculations that can be hard to come by (finding that was hard for Yemen- I can only imagine what it'd be like for Kenya).

Well Umbrella Corporation is a Layartebian biomedical corporation (just like the fake one) and it is centered in Raccoon City (in the Empire), which is in northern West Virginia near the Pennsylvania border...It's the Appalachian New York City basically and they do a lot of global stuff. Because we trade with each other it is highly feasible that they have locations within your country and if they are allowed to do some stuff there that they can't do in the Empire it would behoove them to do it there.

Recipient: Global Community
Origin: Empire of Layarteb - Ministry of Defense
Classification Level: Secure
Subject: Midgetman Redeployment

Due to increased tensions throughout the world and the necessity for a more sustainable nuclear deterrant, the Empire of Layarteb has begun the reinstatement of the MGM-134 Midgetman missile. This improved version features a 25% increase in range, 50% increase in weight, increases in speed, accuracy, and mobility though it retains the same maximum yield warhead of the previous version, which is 475 kilotons. The Midgetman II missile is being introduced and one hundred of them shall be deployed immediately throughout the Empire of Layarteb and abroad. True details on this system remain completely classified.

Priority: High
Recipient: Russian Federation
Origin: Empire of Layarteb - Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Classification Level: Secure
Subject: Foreign Relations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is greatly pleased that the Russian Federation wishes to resume diplomatic relations. The Russian Federation is welcomed to reoccupy its existing consulates and embassy within the confines of the Empire as we shall wish for the same. If this is to be granted, the Empire shall resume diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation and, as a show of good faith, will restore Russian merchant access to the Panama Canal.

Sincerely,
Minister of Defense

Response from the Russian Federation

We believe creating an alliance should be a major step in the relations between two or more nations that have already experienced extensive cooperation in the past. That is unfortunately not the case between the nation of Trensk and the Federation. That said however where could be beneficial arrangements made between our nations concerning trade as well as the status of our diplomatic relations. Hey Pushka, I finally got around to seeing Zenit St. Petersburg (in the UEFA Cup game today against Everton). Pretty organized, but they seem to lack a striker.

Still, though, I'm beginning to wonder if there's something in the water in the British Isles- in two weeks we've seen horrendous refereeing decisions. First it was Giorgio Chellini's hockey-style bodycheck on Allan Hutton that went the wrong way and now a red card for "handling in the area" levied against Nicolas Lombaerts when he clearly didn't. What's up with that?

I took Kreynoria's slice of Antarctica and I do intend on keeping it (I was supposed to have it way back when but it got lost). Still, if you want to work on some kind of "Antarctic Union" we can work something out.

Dude judges cheat left and right in Europe. Prime example Latvia vs. Germany in Euro 2004, since Russia lost in two weeks of the tournament and most Latvian players were Russian we rooted for Latvia. I always respected the German team until that day, the openly shoved and pushed people in the back, Latvians had about 6 one on ones with the German goal keeper and every time a German ran up behind em and simply pushed him to the ground with his hands. The referee apparently was blind that day and still Latvians managed to score one goal but the Germans evened out the score with a ridiculous penalty, the German guy pushed the Latvian, the Latvian team got a penalty. Me and my friends ran out of the house and headed straight for the train station to go to Greece and stab the asshole (thats where the tourney was held that year) but we got distracted by the big ass bottle of moonshine that local village drunk Valera was carrying on his back as he was walking through the woods in the middle of the night (its a shortcut to the train station but he wasn't coming from the train station)...we were still pissed though I think we lashed out against some gypsies the rest of that night is kind of a blank. Sadly I haven't seen Zenit play in way too long, we got a coach though with a manly sounding name Dick Advocat (advocat in Russian means a lawyer but thats a complete coincidence since he is dutch or something), but we're doing good we're still the best team in Russia got a lot of potential. I remember our previous trainer, also dutch or something he got kicked out after the whole Bistrov fiasco (he drove the player to Spartak) but where was one game where we played against some random small town team and lost 8-1 because we beat Spartak I think it was a few days earlier and the team basically decided to start preemptively celebrating since they expected to beat their opponents easy...apparently playing with a hang over from a 4 day binge doesn't work, oh! Peterjelo was his name, the previous coach, he had a funny accent, all he could say after that game was "Not good, not good."...thats also the time when the St.Petersburg news channel ran a story about a local sports gear "expert" who with a deep Georgian accent explained to us that our loss was due to the fact that our players were given some itchy ass underwear.

Breaking news today from the Greater Australian Reich. Fuhrer Willem has passed a new law that puts harsh punishments on Domestic abuse. This law has automatically gone into affect in the Reich and is now being enforced. The law is as follows:

7. The Greater Australian Reich was built around the idea of creating a paradise were men can raise their families in peace. Sons and daughters are to be protected by the Reich and its government. The Daughters of the Reich are the pride and joy of Australia. Therefore the females of the Reich are to be treated with the utmost respect. They are the angels of the Australian Reich; they should be treated as such. Abuse of a women of any age is not to be tolerated. Any abuse will be punished with imprisonment for, upwards of 30-50 years. Rape is also hated in the Reich; this will be punished with death. In closing treat your women with respect, your daughters, your wife’s, your nieces, and your aunts are the pride of the Reich. This is the law of the land.

http://theforsakenoutlaw.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=869

I think we should do our own Darwin Awards. I was inspired by the story I am submitting to do this one. If you are unfamiliar with the Darwin Awards, they are a tongue-in-cheek award given to especially stupid people who are most often killed because of their complete and utter stupidity. Because of their deaths, they cannot intoxicate the gene pool further. Below is Wikipedia's entry and it is a fair one:

A Darwin Award is a tongue-in-cheek honor named after evolutionary theorist Charles Darwin. "Awards" have been given for people who "do a service to Humanity by removing themselves from the Gene pool", i.e., lose the ability to reproduce, as early as 1863. It is for people who kill, or in rare cases, sterilize themselves accidentally by attempting to do stupid feats. As described in the Darwin Award books: The Awards honour people who ensure the long-term survival of the human race by removing themselves from the gene pool in a sublimely idiotic fashion. While an attempt is made to disallow urban legends from the awards, some older winners have been 'grandfathered' to keep their awards.[1]

So here's the rules:

1. Submit one story from 2007 of some moron who exhibits these criteria
2. Quote the story & post its link [use a catchy title too]
3. Wait until all submissions are in place
4. Vote

We'll see who is the winner. The deadline for these is going to be January 2, 2007, just so we catch all the morons who will kill themselves during the New Year's events by shoving rockets in their ass or something stupid.

I believe those fall into the main areas of Roman territory but you would have to ask him. That's why I prefer to use real boundaries when defining maps because it is a lot easier to work with when these questions arise but alas it doesn't always work out easily.

Just read that Zenit lost to Everton....and Spartak got into play-offs. Where is still a chance for Zenit to get through though so Im going to wait, in an event that it doesn't I am going to be forced to do what every Russian, Spartak-hater and non-Spartak-hater (also known as the asshole), will do, as painful as it is Im going to have to root for Spartak since they are Russia's last hope to actually win, unless CSKA or Lokomotiv got through which Im not sure about, I hate those slightly less (I would stab their fans with a simple straight motion while inserting the knife while for a Spartak fan I would use a twisting motion....and a flamethrower). But I'm going to be buying myself a DVR or something soon so I can record the games on the Russian channels I get, otherwise I never have time to see them. Its a plan.

Debates in the State Duma heat up as Presidential election draws near

Over the past few months where have been much debate in both houses of parliament however some of the most heated ones found their place in the Duma. The main focus of these debates is the status of the numerous autonomous republics that have entered the Federation in recent years from almost every corner of the world. Although billions of rubles were spent on cultural and economic integration where are still numerous clashes in both those areas.

To summarize the Pushkan Federative Republic (PFR) which is the sole founder and the main administrative body of the Federation wants to make adjustments to the previously passed 'Aide Act'. The Act makes it so the Republic's economy has to carry the economic weight of the newly integrated province, while also making moves to attract Federation's businesses to the Province in order to rebuild the economy of the new Federative subject until it can stand on its own and become a fully functional member of the Federation. The 'Aide Act' is to be in effect for the minimum of ten years once a new nation is integrated. The adjustments only concern the Latin American Autonomous Republic (LAAR) that has been a part of the Federation for only four years. Leading the body of Duma delegates that are pushing for the adjustment is Leonid Kazinsky of the 'Free Russia' party, to make his position clear he made a speech two days ago at the first Duma hearing on the issue.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/reportsfromabroad/spicer/gfx/kasparov-cp-220x309.jpg
Kazinsky presents his case to the Duma

"Over the past several months I have received numerous calls from my voters, common citizens of the Pushkan Republic that asked me to bring this issue to the table. As we seat here today debating on the need for the 'Aide Act' let us not forget that it is the people of Pushka that have to pay most taxes out of any subject in the Federation because of the Act in question. Let us remember also that they have built this Federation some sacrificing their lives to spread freedom to foreign parts of the world. I am all for integration and cultural exchange, I don't think that our comrades in LAAR should be treated as second class citizens, but that is not what is happening here, it is the Pushkans that are now closer to being second class in their own country then anyone else. Every time a natural disaster strikes in LAAR the Russian tax payers covers 80% of the expenses, every time a Federation citizen native to LAAR gets injured at work and uses his State Issued Health Insurance card, the Russian tax payer covers 90% of the expenses. In the meanwhile the Federation is growing, we now have South American Autnomous Republic, Salvador Free City-State, Near Eastern Autonomous Republic, the United Pacific Federation of Islands and Autonomous Indian Federative Republic that still need taken care off, in fact they need it much more then LAAR. Once again I have to remind everyone that I am not opposed to 'Aide Act', if anything it works too well, the GDP of LAAR in four short years has went from almost nothing to some two trillion rubles a year. The job of the legislation has been accomplished, yes it is unexpected but that does not mean that Pushkan tax payers should suffer, paying the highest tax in the Federation while completely prosperous LAAR gets away with paying a 5% flat income tax for six more years. We simply must tap the resource that we have created in LAAR, we simply must do it, especially now that we are expanding our borders, the Pushkan tax payer can not carry this weight for another six years and for all that they have done shouldn't the LAAR tax payer feel thankful and ready to help out his comrades in Siberia?"

After the speech the LAAR Duma delegates said that they disagree with Mr. Kazinsky's statement but must take more time to compile their full argument which they will present at the next Duma hearing on the issue. However Mr. Gonzales who is the elected cross-party head of the LAAR delegation within the Federation did bring up another issue at last month's general Duma hearing that he attended along with other most prominent members of the LAAR delegation.

"If this country prizes equality, freedom and love for ones motherland above all else when where are changes that need to be made so we can physically reflect our values. By the end of the integration of some of the Federation's newest members, the non-Russian population within the Federation will come to some 48% of the whole population of the Federation. I believe that the system that we have now has never had to deal with these facts and thus there are changes that need to be made so discrimination does not exist. Although the law does not state that only a person of white skin may hold the highest tier of administrative offices in this country, it still is so. Look around the room, you can segregate the bulk of the political parties present here today not only by the seating arrangement but also by the color of their skin. I know that a higher degree of cultural integration will not be easy for most to accept and this kind of thing is hard to regulate since it is all up to the voter to decide. I am not accusing anyone of racism but lets be truthful if the voters pick a native of LAAR as the President of the Federation during the next election where will be strong opposition from the Pushkan delegation that may destabilize the Federation and pour over into a military conflict, yes no one wanted to hear this but I had to say it because its the truth. This process will not be done in a hurry but I do believe we must establish a think tank that will work on ways to integrate our cultures to the degree where if a non-Russian is elected to hold one of the highest of offices in the government; it is accepted by everyone and those who disagree will simply let the democratic process take its course and submit their vote at the next election for a candidate that appeals to them more. If we believe in equality we must pass legislature that ensures it for everyone in this great nation and that is my end goal."

Gonzales gives his controversial speech

Mr. Gozales's words were met with allegations of calling the Pushkans racist by some of his more extreme opponents. His speech has given birth to quite a few other heated debates on the topic that seems to be growing as new issues get labeled under it and contribute to the controversy. It should be also noted that only the Pushkan Republic, LAAR and Near Eastern Autonomous Republic will be participating in the Presidential elections this march as the other subjects of the Federation are only in the early stages of their integration.

Fleet Manuevres to take place in the Indian Ocean

The Confederate States Navy will be holding a series of fleet action and amphibious landing drills around the Maldives in the following weeks, involving units from the Atlantic and Pacific fleets, including all six vessels of the 1st Battle Squadron which contains the heaviest warships on the planet (Admiral-class Battlecruisers) and ask that our neighbours in the region are not alarmed by the increase in military activity.

Alright the weekend is over. I did some big repairs to the car (water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, oil) and she's loving it. Now I'm going to sit back with a nice, big glass of icy cold water (not beer you drunk ass).

Happy Birthday to all those who had one, congratulations to everyone who isn't sick anymore. So what the hell happened this weekend?

Heck I've been crammed. I got hit with five days of work (4-10ish) plus its like 40 minutes away so it pretty much ate up my entire week. Plus I've got two final papers due (one which i just finished) and studying to do as Ive got at least two finals if not 3 or 4 this week.

Bah Ive never been so busy. Not to mention a social life that includes a GF, very hot I might add, that lives on campus another 40 minutes in the opposite direction of my work.

Regardless im super laid back so its chill.

well...concidering the amount of time I usually dissappear anyway, I would be willing to join the Federation as a sattillite nation under the condition that all territories under Nerotikan control continue to be ours. You allow our council to continue to serve until the end of its term (In that time I will allow you to choose our government style). This way I will keep somewhat indipendance of my own but at the same time be connected to the federation as one of its states (The entire of Nerotika becoming a single state, instead of it broken into peices).

The desicion is up to you I suppose, but until then I will continue to fight against both ng and push (Who im guessing has chosen to ally with NG [A move I would think funny concidering his hatred of the OA] and fight against me)

Im assuming that claim also includes Adygea? If not I would just give it to him anyway...it would be pointless to leave a large open hole in that territory.

But the list of territories im claiming are as follows: Dagestan, Stavropol', Karachay, Kabardino, North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Chechnia.

Sound good?

Also, I found a little game that could help put a fun aspect to our world cup (www.Powerchallenge.com) Its a free online soccer game where we could create teams and during our world cup go into our own private room and run down the list of match-ups. I guess you should just check it out on your own but I think this way we could at least have fun with the world cup...

I can't make it so you keep everything, NG will want something and the reason I am fighting a war against you is to stop instability in my region. I'd rather have an enemy I can work with, than an 'ally' that rushes into things like that without a clear plan or an approval from my side. As for the other stuff, we're all about Democracy so we'll let you have a referendum about what should be done to your current government and if that passes you can keep them for the remainder of the term as long as they agree to follow our constitution, human rights policy and other smaller stuff like food/consumer goods quality standards as well as our laws about labor (minimum wage, 40 hour work week, etc.), etc. After that we'll start bringing your economy up with Aid Act, developing/fixing infrastructure, etc. I haven't posted this yet but there will be a change in the Federation the republics will get a lot more independence from the Federal gov't, you will be able to maintain a military for defensive purposes and you will be able to deal with all your domestic problems without our aproval, you'll even be able to form trade agreements with foreign nations with reasonable freedom to choose (aka no Nazis, sorry Trist). I'll explain in detail in an IC post how it is going to work for all of my republics in the next couple of days, maybe I'll give you a special status.

"Sir. We have a problem," General Bo said as he entered the Emperor's office, not even waiting for an invitation. For days, Layarteb City had become a war zone with rebel forces fighting loyal, Layartebian soldiers. Civilians who couldn't escape didn't, instead, they stayed and fought. Bullets tore through the air and struck everything in their way. Governor's Island had, until now, been safe. Rebel soldiers lobbed mortars and rockets at the island but failed to hit anything significant. The Layartebian Defense Forces had rigged the causeway with explosives and they had lined it with soldiers, barricades, machine gun nests, and anti-tank mines. "Sir. The island has been breached."

"Breached! How!"

"Sir. I do not have the specifics but it seems those in charge of blowing up the bridge have defected to the rebellion." The General paced as the Emperor stood. Gunshots grew louder as dozens of rebel soldiers came across the causeway. "Sir. We can authorize a strike on the bridge from aircraft."

"ETA?"

"Sir we have aircraft able to do it right now."

"Seal us off!"

A little exerpt from RTL's future posts.

With all the shit thats going on in my country I finally found something that puts everything in perspective for me. A small rhyme I heard from one of my countrymen, I am sure he didn't make it himself and it doesn't rhyme in english but here we go.

Умом Россию не понять, аршином общим не измерить, у ней особенная стать, в Россию можно только верить!

With a mind Russia can not be understood, with conventional measurements it can't be measured, it has a special destiny, all you can do is believe in it.

That made more sense to me then all the dozens of headlines I read over the past month. Its not like we haven't gone through worse, its not like we stopped believing and that means that we will reach our goal.
