In response to Layartebian military activity near our Cuban borders we have raised the status of all Ninjanian military forces from low to elevated. This status will remain until we have seen a decrease in forces near our borders to normal levels.
(Elevated status means that a couple more patrols are sent out, and more helicopters and aircraft are put on patrol. Nothing really big.)

The alliance Mr. Emperor has spoke off simply does not exist in reality, the Russian Federation has not sent any sort of aid to the nation of Tyrandis, neither did they express any wish for us to send them aid, neither do we intend to controll the deals that might or might not be made in the future between the government of Tyrandis or any other nation and private companies based in the Federation. We joined this organization in hopes of preventing war. Instead it seems to have accomplished just the opposite. This alliance; instead of being used as a defensive tool has been used to back potentially disastrous movements by certain member nations. The Neuvo Rican Empire Announces withdrawal from the VCO. This alliance system, in all it's profit was only dragging our nation closer to nuclear war with those whom we had no quarrel.

The United Eastasian Republic formally announces its withdrawal from the Voronej Cooperation Organisation.

The Eastasian people have spoken; in an official referendum 89% voted to leave the VCO after membership began to have an adverse effect on our nation's international status. We send our best wishes to those who were members of the VCO alongside us; we wish them the best in their future endeavours and hope to retain diplomatic ties.

For now, the UER is going into a period of self-reflection. Trade and diplomacy will continue as normal, but we ask to be recognised as neutral until any further notice. Any attempts to break our neutrality will be met with fierce opposition.

The Roman Empire implores the Teh Ninjian Government to rethink its position for this effectively land-locks our new territories in Sudan, which we view as unjustified since Rome has made no moves against Teh Ninjas nor have we ever given any inclination to do so.

Those terms are agreeable. However, while we understand the need for Teh Ninjas to do what it can to defend itself when threatened, we still implore Teh Ninjas to resolve its disputes diplomatically. We are willing to help out if the case may be.

Hmm, very complicated. It is more or less a somewhat static Aristocracy in the upper echelons (the Herrgotts). Newly acquired regions have their leaders selected by the best people people in Bjornoya from amongst the local populace. After aquiring certain merits and prooving themselves capable of handling themselves a semi-democracy is enstated locally and later for the entire state. For instance in the highly educated regions of the Bjornoyan mainland free and open elections occur every so often years for governing status (haven't decided yet, prbly about 3 years) We operate under a similar rationale used by the US nowadays. People under a certain age are not allowed to vote because they have not been educated well-enough to maturelly and rationally handle such situations. Similarly regions recently acquired (particularlly unidustrialized Africa) are not yet capable of self-governing considering they just had despots in power who instilled them with ideals that violate Bjornoyan beliefs in human rights. A fair amount of corruption exists as in all corporate democracies, Visara has a decent sway over the outcome of elections but is not malevolent.
I always keep in mind that Adolf was elected democratically, proof that democracy is not always the best solution.

By all means Bjorn you are correct, he was. One only has to look at the American model and you can see just how little faith the founding fathers actually put into the ability of the people to elect the correct leaders. This is why the Electoral College exists and shall further exist (thank God!)

In the EOL we do something very different. We allow democracy but only on the local levels. Federal and state are authoritarian.

Thats something like my nation. The federal government or known as the Imperial Throne is a dictator that has the final say on every major issue concerning the nation. Then there is the Assembly that is democratically elected that handles local issues like roads construction/repairs, building projects, etc...

The one about hindering the effects of factions? I remember vaguelly. Read it in philosophy class senior high-school year, best class I ever took.

Yeah, people forget the founding fathers restricted voting to only white-male-landowners. Many view this as appalling but I think the rationale for it is justifiable, perhaps I should say 'forgivable' to avoid complications, if they believed white-landowning-males were the most intelligent and worthy amongst the populace to elect leaders.

And even with this they had safe-guards.

My personal, OOC opinion is that people should take something like the naturalization test to earn the right to vote. If you're able to pass it at age 5, then you get to vote. If you can't pass it at 47, thank god you wouldn't be able to vote.

I'd preffer something based on inteligence. I know 12 and 13 year-olds (work as a camp-counselor) who are way smarter politically than the idiots that surround me here on campus. It's not entirelly fair.

Well intelligence doesn't help if you don't know how many branches of government we have. Hell, lots of people on this forum are teenagers (myself included) and are smarter than any moron with a million bucks who feels like buying a senate seat. But seriously, my parents acknowledge the fact that I know more about this stuff than they do.

Ireland has an Air Force? Wow...Ireland is the safest nation on Earth. I mean who have THEY invaded. They just drink and beat each other up, my kind of nation.

Yeah we have an Air Force, mostly older planes, nothing really to use offensively. Just training planes and diplomatic couriers etc. We just got some new helicopters aswell, some new European small Helo. Quite nice looking with the IAF markings on them.

Our Army is pretty good too, very small but expertly trained, we have a lot of ties with Israel, the unarmed combat style for the Irish Defence Forces (IDF) is Krav Maga, same as Israel, who actually teach it to some of the Irish troops.
We also have the Irish Defence Forces Army Ranger Wing, the Sciathan Fhiannoglaigh an Airm, widely regarded as one of the best SF units in the world. They train mostly with Delta Force and Sayeret Mat'kal. A lot of them go to the Ranger School at Ft.Benning and go through other US programs.

The Sirkosky is American? I didn't know...the name sounded Russian (at least the inventor's name sounds Russian).

Still, I just hope these Cyclones won't fall apart like the Sea Kings...

The Irish Military is sort of a non-issue, it doesn't do much in Ireland. Mostly peacekeeping elsewhere in the world. People respect it, but its never really in the news.

Also, I think it was the fault of Canada's former Government that the military was under-funded, expect that to change now.

In one of the programs I do at school, we are sort of RPing as Australia. I'm in charge of defense and diplomacy. I just did a quick scan in a few books I have about ships and planes, and the Air Force and Navy aren't much to be proud of. Canada should invade them to prove the military can still do something.

Sikorsky was began by Sikorsky who was Russian, well he was technically Polish but he was born then Poland was a part of the Russian Empire. He was Tupolev's classmate at the engineering academy.

Aussies have a really tough Ranger school. They are formidable allies to have in battle. Fearless just like the New Zealander's. I would take them and a few Mongolian warriors into any battle.

We interpreted your message as using Nuclear Weapons for a first strike option. With the MAD (mutually assured destruction) that exists on our planet, we shouldn't be waving nuclear weapons at each other. Regardless nuclear payloads that violate our airspace will be dealt with accordingly.

Second point, it has come to our attention you have sent threatening overtures to the Bjornian Government about there conquest of New Caledonia. In fact, you country has laid some false imperialistic claim to it. We will not allow your forces to expel Bjornian Forces from New Caledonia and request your Fleets you have put to sea return home. OOC: I never said my technology was fool-proof in SDI, the fact that I have a triple redundant system over three seperate locations would increase the overall odds that I would have a significant chance to knock down a majority of missiles that where inbound. The officiating WAS bad...how was that first Seattle touchdown NOT a touchdown? Darrell Jackson barely tapped the guy. The refs don't whistle it even when it's flagrant, yet here they did it with a small shove. Oh, and I don't even know HOW Ben Rothliesberger crossed the line (unless they counted his head as the ball...).

Though I personally believe Seattle lost the game more than Pittsburgh won it. They executed well until the point where they needed to most- in the red zone. Josh Brown missed two field goals (though mind you they were long), and the Seahawks appeared pretty jittery when Matt Hasselbeck threw the interception to Ike Taylor. They also repeatedly had the Steelers offence at 3rd down and failed to seal the deal- remember, the Willie Parker run, the 37-yard Hines Ward completion and the Rothliesberger "touchdown" were all third-down conversions. This was about failed execution. The Seahawks lost Super Bowl XL- the Steelers didn't win it.

Circadian rhythm, from what I recall from psych there's a normal 8 hour sleep time but cut in half is a time where the mind is most active, about 4 hours so if one wakes up then they feel a bit more awake than if they woke up after 6 or 7 hours. Catches up later though.

Yesterday evening at 2050 Greenwich Main Time, the Royal Norwegian Naval Vessel KNM 'Fusa' (D125), a destroyer of the Devlin Flight I class lost propulsion and main power following engine failure. The 'Fusa' was slated for decommission in two weeks and was on a final standard patrol in the Barents Sea, roughly 77 nautical miles from Russian territorial waters when the incident occured. As a result of the engine failure, the 'Fusa' came adrift with a heading which brought her on a direct path towards Russian territorial waters.

Despite numerous repair efforts, the damages were too substantial for repairs, and after drifting for the better part of 11 hours and being on the verge of entering Russian territorial waters, the 'Fusa' was abandoned. While still in international waters, the 'Fusa' was sunk by Norwegian naval aviation craft rather than to be handed over to the Russian Federation in order to ensure the protection of Norwegian national security. The 'Fusa' went down at 0730 GMT at a position 30 nautical miles from Severnaya Zemlya, a Russian posession. The evacuation went smoothly, and the crew were later rescued by Hirgizstanian and Layartebian naval units responding to the distress call. There are no casualties reported. The crew is expected to arrive in Murmansk in 2 days.

The reason for the engine failure is as of yet unknown, pending debriefing of the crew.
