I'm going to push again for some kind of scale for military sizes for the upcoming World War. Not a limit, but a scale on which armies are more reasonable. I'm not complaining, really, but has anybody checked the Dark Clouds of War thread? My man Yelm's navy is at least twice the operational size of the US navy, impressive due to the fact he only posses a part of Antartica, Ecuador, and British Columbia. RUSSIA had problems building two supercarriers, while my adversary, while having land possibly as harsh, has 25. Thats cool, whatever, but I think I've been in Earth II longer, and have a bit more resources, so I should be able to get a bit more (and yes, I have huge military spending. I'm the Templars). But then the sheer size of the armies we're gonna have running around is. . . mind-bending. scaling down is just more reasonable.

Exactly. I have a defence budget of 30 trillion and there's no way I'm giving that up so it'll be a level playing field or whatever. TKT while I could see your concerns, I think you'll find little support for your ideas. Especially among the larger nations.

My argument protects larger nations, which is exactly why I think some people just cant comprehend what I'm saying. This is in addition to the fact that I have heard a multitude of others say that those NSE statistics are unreliable, for several reasons. One is just the shear guess work involved in calculating them, the other is that they have nothing to do with Earth II. The paralell cannot be drawn. We frequently see nations according to how new they are, or how much land they have, which is not part of the NSE stuff. While NSE says Yelm (just using you as an example, not the problem itself) has a ten trillion dollar defense budget, how can that make sense in here? How can one collect 10 trillion if you are in Antartica? With only two other territories :confused: These statistics cant really be used

I think he's referring to the two or three ships from the 60s still in service, which by Earth II standards are outdated. But, i wonder, if one gauges ships and equipment by Earth II standards, wouldn't one then gauge their economy or supplies by Earth II standards?

He specifically said USN not in terms of E2 but in terms of real world. It's sad though that the oldest ships in the USN can still tango with the newest ships in most other arsenals. The few ships that are old as that though aren't fighting ships. The oldest is the Spruance class IIRC with only 4 active left and by 2006 they will all be decommed. Then come the Perry Class frigates. The Spurance came into servce in 1975 and the Perry in 1977. No wait I am forgetting the Kitty Hawk carrier and Enterprise from the mid-60s. Yeah okay, who has a supercarrier?

If you read the introductionary thread he made, he explains that his civilization's been around since the viking ages, but hidden in antartica. He's also selling a material called Kyrie for a high price, which is making him a bundle. It's plausible if you have all the facts.

The whole NSE thing should be removed, is my main point. TLS is TLS in nationstates, but in Earth II he can be Carthage, for example. I dont think the two have to be connected- thats not the point of Earth II, is it? Just because I'm a New York Times Democracy in NS doesnt mean I can't be a crazy dictator in EarthII, so how can that carry over? Just a thought

Earth II will make no official policy of scaling back population sizes of nations, thereby forcing a military scaleback. Such insane and extravagant figures that are godmodding will not be accepted by logical or otherwise sanitary figures will be accepted. Nations may willingly limit their population sizes to fit EARTH II, if they so choose but this would mean a limit on their military forces.

Example: In NS world, the EOL consists of 4 nations thereby making a population in excess of 9.5B. In Earth II, this is obvious godmodding, therefore the population of just my MAIN nation is used. The EOL has a mandatory 2-year military service for all males at the age of 18. Generally speaking, military should be 5% or less of your nation or 8% - 10% or less if you have a mandatory draft. My military is actually less than 5% of my nation size. At 5% I should have a military of around 150m for all branches. Mine is 140m for all branches.

See what did I tell you, he wasn't abandoning us. So no Hogsweat will not be D-12. If I were to denounce him as it I would have to put a lot of other people on it as well, other people who contributed in the past (NTG, Euroslavia, Cottonmouth, etc).

RomeW: Want to hear something funny? I gave it to you on the main Excell sheet and the map just never updated the claims list. Figures! It was probably a back-up error or something. However, in going to that claim for Far Tortuga's land, BLARGistania started an RP quite some time ago for those areas of FT's land. When you said you were going for it, I thought you mean for the Mexican lands, which is what Varsola was going after. Now I'm thoroughly confused...

I sell the YF-23 (F-23). Those specs you see on it are based on RL YF-23. My F-28 Talon specs are totally my own creation. I saw the picture on globalsecurity.org some time ago and well, went to work. There aren't any specs on the Talon, I don't think...

Lets hope this doesn't turn into a gazillon this and a gazillon that thing. I have all the documentation on everything I have purchased for my military available for inspection for anyone who might have a question. I don't see why not. If I simply had to leave for a month or so (family emergency, mandatory travel plans, etc) and had no access to NS to announce this leave, I would expect my allies to defend me in my time of need.

Zeeeland: My military is actually 140 million people in total. 5% of my population is like 150 something million people so actually my goal of a 5% military size is smaller. I have compulsary military service so I should be claiming around 7.5% of my population = my military. That whole 140 million though includes everyone, logistics, combat, etc. My standing army is like 10m total for all branches. Something like that. 6.2 million is army corps and the rest are airborne, spec ops, border forces, marines, etc.
