Mimicking real-life politics, one can easily see that nations, even small ones, play vital roles. In order to establish such as a coherence here it is vital that we too adopt a policy of activity. Insomuch as Earth II will be concerned all nations should be active participants. This is not to say that attendance is required or roleplaying every day is required. However, a nation that joins and roleplays nothing or contributes nothing should not be allowed to horde land. Therefore, if nations that join but make no significant contributions to Earth II, their land may be allowed to be claimed by other nations, without their consent, through a well-playing and well-done roleplay. Nation contribution will be defined as no activity inside of 60 days. Members will be notified one week prior to their reaching 60 days and should they not respond or post, they shall be considered Decree 12. The concept of "Claim Land & Run Away" shall not be the staple point of Earth II. The limits imposed upon the claiming of land that is held by inactive players will be of the following. First and foremost, the claiming MUST be done with an RP, no questions asked. Secondly, nations who are not part of Earth II must RP as well but as an insurgent or rebel force. Thirdly, if a nation under this decree truly wishes to participate, they can prove it by starting over, from scratch. Israel (as I understand it)-Me, TLS, and Cotland were going to split it, but Pantheaa and Huahin still wanted a piece. However, keeping the Technate out of Jerusalem would be nice, so I would offer Cotland this:

I get current Palestine (Gaza and West Bank), and access through Israel to Lebanon and Gaza, and Cotland gets the whole of Israel. We split Jerusalem.

Using this (http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/middle_east_and_asia/israel_pol01.jpg) map, I suggest that we split Israel just over where it says "1950 Armistice Line" and under Gaza, in a straight line to the westernmost part of the Palestine border under Hebron. Anything south (IE Negev), I get. You take what you want (Gaza strip, West Bank, something else?), and anyone else take the rest. I really don't care as long as I get Negev. Deal?

Well, I don't think one day is unreasonable...if we're active, then we'll be online at least once a day. Plus, the way this is set up, I need to be online 24 hours a day (which I can't be) just to get the land I may actually need.

Case in point: everyone knows that I want Vatican City, since it's squarely inside my capital (actually, it's more of a suburb of Rome, but I digress). If Earth II was RL, the minute Vatican City became available, Rome would occupy it immediately, since it wouldn't want unrest (or even a hostile power) to occupy land right in the heart of the Roman world. This would happen regardless of whether or not the Emperor would be asleep, since there would presumably be Roman officials (probably border officials) able to keep watch on the territory 24/7, because that's their job. Within minutes, the officials can immediately alert the government who can then move in. The Romans wouldn't wait for, say, the Emperor to wake up to move in (because he'd probably be notified) and have someone else to potentially snag the territory and perhaps create a conflict Rome doesn't need.

(I can also make the argument that absolutely NOBODY would be able to enter Vatican City without getting through me first, since you'd have to cross my territory just to occupy it, and believe me, I'm not going to sit by idly while that happens)

Now, I don't have that capability (and neither does anyone else, for that matter), since I need to sleep and eat and study (not necessarily in that order :D), and that should be accommodated. I don't think it's too much to ask for people to wait a day before their claim can be "finalized" because if someone is active enough on or cares enough about Earth II, they'll be online at least once a day. Other Earths have a window and it works well for them, so I think it's time we did too.

Hmm, Gabon and Congo are closest to my Eq. Guinea, and I'll need those for upcoming campaigns. Perhaps Zambia, Zimbabwe, or some of the D.R.C. provinces are places you'd want?

...Id be happy to take about 100k miles of land from zambia or zimb from africa.

I spoke with Bjornoya earlier today and have decided to claim Zambia.

I also put forward the idea of splitting Zimbabwer four ways, into compass points. I would take the North under Zambia. I also will claim a province in DRC, Nord-Kivu. (Or was it Sud-Kivu).

Ill take the southeast tip because it connects with botswana which i control.

Dude, keeping us out of the Holy Land will get you alot of enemies. Mainly the fact that we are the largest Muslim nation in the world (the more radical elements of the Technate have been subdued by the Imperialists, as well as the Caliphate, which is now based in New Zealand, and the Republicans. Inactivity. We went through all the steps to see if he was there, but he wasn't, so we took his land. If he comes back, he has no basis on which he can get his land back. If we wanted, we could give him back his land, but we don't HAVE to.

Just outta curiosity, would anyone be interested in creating a "Eurozone" type economic system? Where a bunch of nations would have the same currency? I know I would (increasing trade = more money to spend), but I wanted to gauge E-II Opinion before I started it.

Pffft, looks like the Eurozone will go the way of the LoN and the U.N. before it; all the nations are too independent and their players too lazy to do anything. HOWEVER, the curreny requires almost no work at all. Besides, it will fix the problem of most of us using the dollar to indicate how much something is worth (when, in reality, no one uses the United States Dollar :p).

I'm going to need someone to take the role of the Bolivians in my thread, The Siege of Bolivia (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=453616). The basics is this: Bolivia has fallen under the rule of multiple biker gangs. Two of those gangs- The Warriors of Bolivia and The Purifiers- have united to form a "Bolivian Confederate Army" featuring some 500,000 soldiers carrying non-military grade machine guns, about 100,000 of which are well-trained (since the Carthaginians trained them). They're more of a militia than an actual army, but a well-trained one. I should also mention that not *all* of the Bolivians are in support of the Confederate Army, given the country's recent turmoils. The Purifiers have also been accused of kidnapping, torturing, raping and finally killing more than 20,000 foreigners (most of them Romans), hence the operation- The Warriors were trying to cover it up since they're allied with the Purifiers. More information is in the thread.

Wow, I didn't even notice that, I guess it started as that. I will like all of your Russian land especially the ones boarding my nation which I counted are 12 territories s for any of the 12 out of 17 mexican lands. I would like to keep Mexico City though as it is a major source of commerce for Pantheaa $$$$

If I have to give up any land in Mexico, I'll give it to you. I just won't be able to figure that out now.

Lay-Right now crutches are not bad. Especially because I get to be late to all my classes. I actually feel pretty good, except I may need surgery. There's a little piece of something in my leg, if its bone, they have to take it out. If it isnt bone, then they leave me with a piece of crap in my leg. But plenty of people on E2 and people I know in general have been through worse, and possibly uglier accidents (a dislocated knee isnt pretty, for those who have not had the dubious honor of seeing one), so I cant really complain.

TKT: Hmm...I think at this point, I can't give up much without dropping a whole Sultanate, but I will offer you 2-3 choices from this list:

As a political science major I am required to have an opinion on presidents, past, current, and future. As a conservative, I obviously am not going to give much to the Democrat presidents of the times and more to the Republican presidents, such is the nature of my beliefs. However, I must give due credit to FDR as a truly great leader, despite being one of the most socialist presidents of the modern era. Personally my favorite presidents are Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and Mr. Reagan.

TR was definitely a president with balls, something we need with ring-a-ding-kid Bush at the helm!

Lincoln saw the necessity to keep the union intact and did not falter in the face of alternative factions (something Federalist 10 warns about).

Reagan was just the monster president who took shit from no one and took the Soviet Union head on, balls to the walls, guns blazing, and, in words of Tony Montana, "Buried those cockroaches!"

Now in terms of FDR, I can respect him as he was one of the few leaders who actually saw the evil of Hitler before anyone else and warned against giving him any concessions (way to go Chamberlain). I can also respect his dealings with Stalin against the greater enemy (Germany and Japan) and as much as I am not a fan of many of the New Deal programs I can understand his sentiment in doing them (the depression) and the necessity to get the US out of the depression at all costs. Sadly it took WWII to end that depression. I cannot forgive him though for selling out at Yalta and allowing the Soviets to imprison most of Germany and allowing them to get as far as they did. They're not to be trusted.

Kennedy I can slightly respect, if only for his hard stance on communists, though I am not entirely sure how many people in his administration were really that against them. I cannot forgive him for selling us out on the Cuba Missile Crisis and retiring the missiles in Turkey to get the Soviets to get them out of Cuba nor can I forgive his ineffectiveness in dealing with Cuba (nor can I with Eisenhower either).

Naturally Jefferson, Madison, Adams, Washington, all of those great man way back when were nothing less than sheer great. It is unfortunate that their warnings were never heeded, especially Washington's points of never getting involved with foreign countries and his warning against partisan politics, which I don't think anyone had any control over, that was inevitable.

Now as far as Dubya goes. Yeah I voted for him in 2004 (was too young in 2000) but because the other guy was as much of a dumbass as he was. I honestly cannot stand anything this current administration does nor can I stand anyone in it. They're all a bunch of short-term morons who are fucking this country so badly it isn't funny.

My worst presidential picks? Carter and his floppy stance on human rights went to show just how unqualified he was to be the leader of this country when he put the human rights of nations outside of our borders ahead of our own issues. Clinton and his horrific dealings selling out this country to the highest bidder throughout the '90s. LBJ for never setting the doctrine to win the Vietnam War. He never pushed ahead victory and got involved, never with the aim to win. Trumman giving the Soviets the bomb and allowing the government to be polluted with communists. Dubya for his, well I said it there and I'll rant more and more as time goes on.

I am impartial on Daddy Bush. He started the chain reaction of disarmament, which is a concept I loathe (obviously). I am impartial on Kennedy I guess, even though above I put him above. I am impartial on Nixon. I am impartial on Eisenhower.

I would like to make this distinction though. I am not a neo-con, those nutbuckets are ruining this country. I am a traditional, hard-line conservative (fiscally, socially, and militarily). I am also not part of the Christian Right (hell I'm agnostic) but I cannot object to the presence of "under God" in the pledge nor can I object to the presence of "In God We Trust" on the money we have. In fact I find it apalling that those two issues are being contested and I find it beyond traitorous that the 9th Circuit out West has banned the Pledge...I do this because, technically, America is a democratic-republic, whereby the laws must benefit the majority. Over 80% of this country believes in God. That's a majority. Passing the laws out West benefit the minority and go against everything that America stood for. I use past tense because in today's day and age, whereby Christmas trees are holiday trees, whatever it is that we stand for, it isn't anything. This country has been wussified and I am ashamed of it.

If you go by the political compasses, I'm almost dead center, if only because I don't quite fit in with the Republican view personally. I would be a Republican for lack of a better option I guess. Living in Massachusetts and not liking Kerry was dangerous for a while, but at least that time is gone. I cant stand Ted Kennedy, Menino, or most local politicians. Makes you wonder if monarchy wouldn't be all that bad.

To avoid going on a rant that makes no sense at all, one of my puppets (which are all alternative histories of my main nation) got 520th most extreme today. My main nation is frequently upwards of 2000 in economic ones.

I do live in Ireland but at the moment I am doing 3 minor modules before I begin my major next year (at University). One of them is political science, world politics. Lincoln was very Machiavellian (my hero). Machiavelli stated that, above all, the Prince must keep the state intact and at all costs. Should he need to be brutal and violate rights to save the state then so be it but he should not do it 1 minute longer than is necessary. Lincoln did just that and did not do it 1 minute longer than necessary. Oh yeah we all know that war wasn't about slavery hell I am just as much against it as you are, it is an abomination, though I doubt my reasoning against slavery is the same as yours (I can't post it here, too unpc). Also have you read Federalist 10? It deals with factions and such (prob. the best US political writing ever) and that can sum up also why I like Lincoln.

Personally, I think he's the only politician I could vote for president (even though I can't vote; there's always 2012 :D. Actually, there's the elections in 2010 as well...) Hillary is wacko (She's like Lieberman; blaming everything on Video Games), I doubt Condi would run (I wouldn't vote for her either), and I don't see any other possible people. However, the elections are still 2 1/2 years away, so who knows.

2008 will be the first time I can vote! I'd probably vote McCain, or whoever runs against Hilary. Mitt Romney will probably try for a nomination. I doubt he'll make it through the primaries, as he isn't a great candidate. Still better than most Massachusetts politicians IMO.

Reagonica-Are you going to refer to your nation as TKT anymore? But dont worry about the size. IIRC, I was once the smallet nation on E2 (654 sq. mi. I believe) Now, however, my speeches are worthy of interuppting the Emperor of Layartebs sunsets. Getting big and powerful friends helps, make sure you do it before you get big and powerful enemies.

Also, as a note to the world:

When I am reorganizing my airforce, I plan on pushing the borders of MT. Not to PMT, but the other way. I have never really seen a beginning point to MT, but A good portion of my Air Force will be Vietnam era tech. As such, it will be large, but not the best quality, and most of the planes will be ones rarely seen (nothing in current USAF inventory, staying away from Soviet as well) I may also switch my army to British gear.

Eleph, you should rather try to design your own stuff. Except navy. Stand clear of naval production stuff... ;) Anyway, check Laksevag for reply to your question.

But, even though I know more than the average person does about aircraft things, some people on this forum scare me with the massive numbers, acronyms. I prefer using something that actually exists anyways. Perhaps I will design some fighters at some point (I can find lots of attack craft, but fighters, aside from US or Soviet, are much harder to come by)

I may have to check my military stats to see if my armed forces reflect that level of investment. Especially since it appears that the armed forces fill in for the police, as the UER spends nothing on law & order.

I spend more on everything than him! Of course, that's because I have exactly the opposite of him in taxes; he has 0%, I have 100%. My country is so capitalist, it's communist! He also has roughly $60 trillion larger GDP than me. My consumption is also...$0. His is...$160,704,621,000,000.

At least I have a larger trade surplus than him (although, to be fair, he has a deficit, so of course mine would be larger :p)
