Can one of my Captain's Regent arrive in Oslo on one of the fleets stupidly oversized capital ships? Its the only thing we have to brag about :(

Just to let everyone know that security for the World Cup II will be extremely tight. Do not expect to sneak into sporting events with weapons, despite whatever legality status they may have within the Empire. There will be metal detectors sensitive enough to detect loose change, x-ray scanners, and plenty of German Shepherds. There will be no terrorism at this event and, should an instance of terrorism occur, expect a very swift, powerful, and determining response by the Layartebian authorities and remember, we don't have a posse comitatus act. There will also be price freezes in effect to prevent any gouging and opportunism.

The Empire will offer the winner a prize too and we will announce it when the games begin.

Here's the prologue.

Freedom of the Sparrow

As he sat in the Cargo-Hold of the Cargo Plane, the prisoner felt smug, he had managed to kill 62 Trensk Infantry Troops, blew up a Weapon's Depot on the Borders of Trensk and the Fourth Reich as well as severely piss off a General when he was finally captured after a 2 week chase, they managed to get him when he was getting passage out of Trensk for his actions, now they were taking him back to THAT place.

Across from him, watching him like a hawk, was a Special Forces-Alpha Squad Soldier with an AK-74 trained on him, ready to fire at a moment's notice, sitting away from them was 3 more members of the SF-AS, checking their weapons and talking amongst themselves, mostly about trivial things.

The prisoner looked at the young soldier watching him with his pale red eyes, his white hair was messed up and dirty, he was bound in shackles made from Steel, his clothes if one could call them that were no better then scraps of cloth, formerly a decent set of clothes before his 'adventure'. however now torn and dirty with dirt, sweat and blood.

He sighed internally as he remembered why he had left THAT place, he had been one of the experiments, attempts to make a 'Advanced Soldier', however they forgot that all creatures desire to be 'free', he was one of 400 subjects, all similar, they were ment to be a Batallion, but many did not survive past the 'Genetic-Sequencing' stage of the experiments, he scoffed which made the other man uneasy and tense, suddenly the cabin lights went dark, the plane's engines stopped, causing the Soldiers to look up from what they were doing in suprise and alarm, suddenly the cabin shook violently and all he heard was panicked screams and the shouting of Soldiers as they tried to strap themselves in, then all he saw was darkness.

When he came to he got up with a soft groan of pain, it felt like his nerves were on fire, as he got up from the cold dirt he shook his head, trying to clear the 'fog' that came over it, as he looked around he raised an eyebrow, the plane was torn in half, fires were spread around the area, wreckage dotted the area, peices of metal, seats, but there was no sign of his captors or the pilots, he brushed himself off and smirked.

Luck was on his side...

I'm too tired to finish it tonight, so i'll post the full thing in a different thread tomarrow, give me some feedback on this and let me know how i could improve it. ;) Gotta go now, need to get Caffine! >_<

The Empire will be conducting a series of civilian space launches using rockets and our Next Generation STS over the next four weeks. These launches will be to replace aging weather satellites left over from the Republic that are inefficient, especially in tracking and working with hurricane research. With the onslaught of the devistating Hurrican/Typhoon season and the ever present danger these monsters place on the lives of so many in the Pacific Region, the Holy Republic of Hawdawg has decided to upgrade its Hurricane Tracking capabilities by launching several improved satellites to assist in the tracking, detection, and mapping capabilities of the NWS-Hawdawg. In addition to this project, several experimental vessels will be fielded in the coming year to track, monitor and study the effects and factors associated with the deadly Tsunami phenomenon in the Pacific. We hope to provide assistance to our neighbors in the Pacific with valuable data so they can make honest decisions about the safety of there citizens should one of these forces of nature take aim at the fragile coastline in Western and SE Asia. :D Actually i went to RAF Lyneham for a week on CCF Camp, the sign at hte base entrance has "Home of the hercules" beneath it, the accomodation was awful but the other people on the camp and the people on the station were really nice. Plus i got two flying hours in the back and on the flight deck of a -J model :)

The amount of suffering your victim receives will always be 1/2 of the amount of suffer that you receive as a penalty and those were some particularly gruesome people (i.e. murder & rape of a child is a good example). We are not "humane" in our punishments and we don't feel we should be when people commit truly inhumane crimes.

At midnight tonight, the British Army's Operation Banner will officially end. Banner is one of the longest operations in the history of warfare, lasting 38 years. British troops first arrived in 1969 and will cease operations at midnight tonight. Only 5000, instead of 8-10,000 troops will now remain in the province, most from the Royal Irish Regiment. Its quite an interesting piece of history being made today.

As an Irishman I'm glad the Army is winding up its operations, but I'm not a bigot. The Army did a lot of good for us, stopping civil war and helping a lot of people. I, for one, will miss them somewhat as the police are useless.

Actually, the context of the British Army operations in Northern Ireland is very interesting. For example; in 1972 during Operation Motorman (the biggest single operation during the Troubles) there were 27,000 troops in a six country area that had less than 1.5 Million people at the time. Today, in Basra, a city that has more people than there are in Northern Ireland, the British only have 5,900 troops and 6,900 in Afghanistan. The British Army has shrunk in size since 1972, but not by a humungous amount. As you can see, the numbers are very interesting.

I was playing F.E.A.R and the Rakow G2A2 Assault Rifle got me thinking, 'Why not use those?'.

I've decided since everyone is on vacation im gonna postpone Voronej Arms Expo and re-postpone the wargames. This is good gives me a little time to get everything done before I introduce to you one of the most exciting things that happened in EII ever, and evil too, yay.

It's a nice weapon. In RL it is the HK SL7 (or is it SL8). F.E.A.R. is a great game too and after playing it I too adopted the G2A2 :) as my M80A1.

Yes I'm back from Cape Cod & what an amazing trip it was. So needed. I finished a book while I was there, Breakpoint, by Richard Clarke and that has given me a LOT of RP ideas. I am 150 pages from being done on the 588 page Ghost Wars and I started some Chechnya book seeking to make a case for independence (yeah Push you'll love that one. The author apparently doesn't think they want to be a "fundamentalist state" [lol] @ ass). Anyway, I'm back, a little sunburned, not hung over, and ready to get back into the action! Book is called, Chechnya, The Case for Independence by Tony Wood. I didn't get too far into it but the introduction says his whole premise. Check it out for a good laugh. Next thing you'll know he'll write that Shamil Basayev just wanted a jungle gym for his birthday.

Yep it cleared up and got really really hot. I lost quite a bit of hay, but I was able to salvage some of it and sold the damaged grass to a neighbor so all is good. I got a phone call yesterday afternoon and we sold about half what I produced so at least my fertilizer bill can now be paid. SB will tell you farming is a hit or miss deal, when its good its really good when its bad its really bad.

BTW PM Wells just strolled up to the Emperor and the Premier at Cot's party.

Its been retired since about err 2003 (EOL timeline). They were upgraded to the "C" standard in the late 90s but they were retired with the B-2. The B-52s were retired in the early 1990s. The B-4 Magnum entered service in the early 1990s and the B-7 in the late 1990s. The B-9 in 2003 and the B-11 in 2007. That's the strategic bomber force in a glimpse.

Well here's a final breakdown of the size of the ILM.

In total there are 2,500,000 standing troops and 550,000 reserves in the army. In total, I have just 1.28% of my population in my military (excellent numbers). That is slightly more than the USA, which is around 1%. My standing army is actually just 0.002% of my population. These numbers are definitely not wanked and adequate. The current E2 average is just 1.49% so I am a little below average. There are some glaring numbers that exceed anything feasible, the biggest being Nerotika with 15.71% of his populace in the military. RomeW is at 4.4% a very high number considering but still somewhat doable as 5% can be easily accepted as your size during times of war, whereas during peace, below 2% is feasible. The three smallest are SL (0.10%), Brink (0.31%), and OK (0.48%).

In light of looking at my statistics I need to see if I could adjust a few numbers to reflect a better balance in my population, etc. A quick question thought are we including civilians contractor's in our military numbers or just logistical and actual combat troops?

Well that's a toss up. I included it mainly because it's included with the Department of Defense (USA) and my summary is basically my whole Ministry of Defense so I included civilians too. The DPRK is a serious problem there. They have an active force of just over 1,100,000 but tons of reserves so just under 6,000,000 total (a whopping 25.75% give or take). Obviously, we can see how they rank economically in the world (obviously not smart to have that many). Their active force is just under 5% around 4.72%.

That reminds me, Hirg re-did and organized my military into this wonderful spreadsheet. Amazing work, all credit goes to him. I should post a summary of it though I believe the numbers stay more or less the same.

That probably explains just about anything I've done, but that isn't an excuse. My actions were, and are still, my actions. Nothing, at all, can ever be used as an excuse for such.

So, I guess all I'm trying to do is seek some sort of pseudo-forgiveness/acceptance. You guys don't have to let me back in, that's fine, I just want to know you guys understand it a bit better and realize that I truly am sorry.

Hell, if it makes you feel any better, it's nothing compared to shit I've just now pulled in my recent life.

Yes "contractor's" aren't counted on my roster, I just wanted to make sure. BTW, what ever happened to the Foreign Legion? Is it still active? I recently had a large discharge of excellent soldiers in Casablanca and Tangiers that would do well in its service.


The 14.5 million basically includes all forces within the Republic. Some of the Civilian staff is counted if the position is a crucial cog (weapons refurbishing plants, ammunition centers, etc.) of the military apparatus. I don't really consider secretaries, janitors, lawn maintenance tech's, etc. in the fighting tally sheet.

For the furthering of your relief, yes I am being medicated. 900 mg of Lithium a Day, 25 [for the first 2 weeks] mg of Lamictal, then 50 mg the second set of 2 weeks, and 100 after that for however long needed..

Ultimately, I've come back here to hopefully some day return to the EII community. I'll understand if I may never be allowed back in, or not for quite some time, but I do really want to re-impliment how important otherwise it is for me to know the majority of people here are atleast fine with me [not neccessarily fine with me rejoining EII that is though.]

Yes the Legion is still very much active but it's numbers will remain static. These new soldiers, however, can apply to relieve those retiring as many do each year.

By the way I estimated my active standing army to 2,500,000 and the total, real figure is around 2,300,000 and change so not bad although for sake of argument, I'm staying with 2,500,000 because conscripts come and conscripts go and it fluctuates each and every few months.

But that Glaceau stuff quenched my thirst and kept me going. I only wish you could get it in Ireland- Hey Lay, tell your boss he needs to export that stuff to Ireland A-SAP...or else...

Well it has less sugar than Gatorade and doesn't have the type of sugar that spikes your blood sugar levels (which causes that crash when you get tired after a sugar high). We use different sugar, lower on the glycemic index (safe for diabetics I believe but I would still call consumer relations and verify that for sure). We also use all natural ingredients unlike Gatorade and Propel, which just load their products up with artificial nonsense.

Right now it's just in the USA but since we're owned by Coca-Cola I doubt we'll stay domestic forever. I would assume though that Canada and Mexico would get it first (NAFTA and all).

I am hereby announcing that Doomingsland is under decree 12 status. He hasn't posted in an E2 thread in excess of 2.5 months (over the 60-day margin). With this in mind there is something going on here because he and RomeW had some joint-union thing going on there. This must be taken into account for "claiming-RPs" and there's an additional part. The way it sort of works out is that because the Roman union thing is that claiming countries get carte-blanche treaties to take it over and that's about it. Now we have a good amount of territory reserved for newbies so this can all be claimed freely.

With that I am going to seize the remainder of Sri Lanka. I'll have an RP post up within the hour (as in by 20:00 hrs not 19:00 hrs). Rome if you could go on AIM we could discuss this takeover and have it done the way you would like it done.

For Sri Lanka. It took a lot longer than expected but it's a good initial posting. More will be explained though as the posts progress. Here's the synopsis as this is actually Killswitch Engage VII [Sanctuary] in its proper title.

Sri Lanka is split with the north being part of the Imperial Dominion of Doomanum and the south being the Empire of Layarteb. Completely cut off from the rest of the Doomani Imperium, the Sri Lankan government looks to support its struggling economy, which is dominated by arms manufacturing, military spending, and corruption. Piracy and crime take hold of the streets and threaten the sanctity of the Empire's state, especially when a nuclear power plant becomes compromised.

Since Doomingsland is gone, I'm going to rename myself- again- the Roman Empire, as I am the sole "Roman" state in Earth II.

Since Doom is gone Im gonna claim Tuva, Buryatia, Chita, Amur and Premorsky Krai, basically all of his lands in Russia, I will RP this and if Rome has a problem thats a pity (no offense meant in any way) cause Im going after them anyways. We could incorporate this into Operation Brotherhood Rome if you still want to participate in it, check your TGs btw I replied to your message. Sorry, I got the message...I've been organizing my own D12 claims so I haven't time to respond to it, but I think we can incorporate all this. I'm not going after Russian territory anyway (I gave up some others myself actually) so it's not a problem.

Pushka, I'm fine with you taking the rest, but I'm gonna contest your claim for Amur and Yevrey AO. Any chance of us being able to make a deal concerning those two?

Rome, considering the extensive diplomatic and trading relationship I've had with Doom, I don't think the Doomanis will be too negative to have a Cottish peacekeeping force in their country. Would you agree?

just to assure everyone that I'm still alive. It's just that I remembered one thing about moving - you pack, then you unpack. As for that reason, I will be delayed in my reply in RTL and the Coup. Again, sorry to everyone. Hopefully, once school starts up, I'll be more at ease to give replies in between school work [which SHOULD be lighter this semester than last semester].

Anyway, I might sneak some extra posts in later this evening or come Monday.

FYI, I've heard Doom was busy with other II stuff [notably all of those wars that seemed to sprout up at the end of July], and I'm not sure if he went away for an unknown reason.

Currently under development with Northern Expanse and Candiro, but its looking like 350 tonne payload using uprated versions of the engines on his B22 bomber and the CIWS gunnery mounts are looking to be insanely fast firing (and short lived barrelled) 35mm Revolver Cannons with electrical cycling assist.

RCS as wide as a mountain too, and it has a win texan captain :p

Russian Trading Deal Signed in Yarkutsk

YARKUTSK (CFP): Russian trade agreement signed after top-level meeting in Yarkutsk. Business leaders, Mexicans elated.

In a press release earlier today, the Commerce Ministry officially announced that Russian merchant vessels and commercial aircraft are yet again allowed entry to the territorial waters and airspace of the Realm of Cotland, much to the surprise of the assembled press corps. Additionally, Russian citizens are once again to be allowed visas from Cotland, enabling them to visit the Realm again for the first time in years.

No Russian vessels or aircraft has been allowed access to Cotland since the resuming of tensions between Cotland and Russia several years ago when the Russian Federation re-emerged from the mists of history after the collapse of the original Russian Federation. This policy has been stricktly managed, with Cottish naval vessels and aircraft having turned back many a Russian merchant ship and aircraft over the years, but is now declared null and void, effective immediately according to Commerce Ministry officials.

The consequences for this surprising move will most likely be a positive one for commerce, both in Cotland as well as in Russia, as the opening up of Cottish territorial waters to Russian ships and vice versa will allow for increased exports and imports of the respective countries trading goods. It probably won't be long until high-quality goods such as Russian computers, kaviar and vodka, goods that were previously banned as a result of the boycot enforced by the Cottish government, will start appearing in store shelves throughout the Realm.

The tourist industry is also gearing up for the anticipated new wave of Russian tourists to Cotland, in particular the holiday hotspots in India and in the Caribbean Sea.

The trade agreement arrived in the midst of what was believed to be the latest chapter in the volatile relationship between the Russian Federation and the Realm, and seems to have calmed tensions significantly.

Anonymous sources within the Cottish delegation say that late in the negotiations, a deal was reached with the Russians concerning their non-interference with the on-going Cottish peacekeeping mission in the former Doomani states of Amur and Yevrey in exchange for Wrangel Island off the coast of Chukotka and the autonomous state of Oaxaca in Mexico. When reports of this reached Oaxaca, natives were reported to cheer.

The leader for the Cottish delegation was also reported by the same anonymous source to have officially appologized to the Russians on the behalf of the Realm of Cotland for the occupation of the Russian motherland five years ago and for the treatment of Russian citizens in the infamous Ust-Orda territory.

Cottish officials were unable to comment on these claims at this time, instead refering queries about this to the Foreign Ministry. We were unable to get a comment from the Foreign Ministry before this article was published, though they did promise an official statement in the morning.

Considering the rather dramatic turn of events in Russia with land swaps and what-not taking place this weekend, I took the liberty of making a little map that reflects the current political landscape in E2 Russia. Lay, if you want to use this as an official Russia map, go right ahead.
