On the basis that nothing insane has happened...
And assuming that Starblaydia hasn't missed any BoF entrants up to Kagdazka and I haven't missed any from Kagdazka to Swartaz...
There are currently 24 teams entered in the BoF. That is an ideal number logistically (4 groups of 6 qualifying teams with top 2 in each group going on to quarterfinals).
The 24 teams are:
Pasarga
Astholm
Metallo Pesante
Nong Nang Ning
Terra Anatidae
Norwellia
Somewhereistonia
Wessia
Banten States
Dave Campbell
Threetime
Phillips Island
Yelda
Golgothastan
Lemetel
Kagdazka
Steroga
Tyrrin
Australiazia
Carpathia and Ruthenia
Landau Institute
Stargate Centurion
Italia Orientale
Swartaz
The only major question mark is on Phillips Island who have been inactive now for 23 days. Unless they log in or are on holiday mode, they will vanish before competition starts. (A couple of other nations haven't logged on for just under two weeks.)
Given that it has been a while since the WC45 finished, once the official announcement is made could we close BoF sign-ups?
Any further entrants would be on reserve for Phillips Island or any other withdrawals.

There's been far too much spamming on this thread recently, but since this is relevant in clearing up Baz's joke nation's origins....
On The Ning Nang Nong
By Spike Milligan
On the Ning Nang Nong
Where the Cows go Bong!
and the monkeys all say BOO!
There's a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots jibber jabber joo.
On the Nong Ning Nang
All the mice go Clang
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
So its Ning Nang Nong
Cows go Bong!
Nong Nang Ning
Trees go ping
Nong Ning Nang
The mice go Clang
What a noisy place to belong
is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!

On the basis that nothing insane has happened...
That's a loaded statement in the WCDT if ever I saw one ;)
The simple answer is no, nothing insane has happened (Disclaimer: In regard to the BoF vote) and it was a unanimous vote in favour of Errinundera hosting. I haven't got the exact number to hand at work, but I think it was all six votes in favour. I'll confirm that when I get back home but that's just the technicality - Errinundera is the next BoF host.
The World Cup 46 Hosting vote is still on, so those people who have posted rosters for WC44 & 45 and haven't yet voted, please do so.

Ack! Is there any way y'all could refrain from spoiling real-life footy results in this thread? I only see those games through BitTorrent or DVR, and I read this thread a lot more often than I get two spare hours to watch a game, so I'm usually several weeks behind. I'd really appreciate it if those of you wishing to discuss real-life matches could set up another thread for that.

All I gave away was that Liverpool didn't progress.. Which isn't saying much as they went in to the game 3-1 down after their home game. Chances of progressing were slim anyway. So we hardly ruined the game, if anything our comments just showed what a fantastic game it was.

Just because Liverpool drew (which means they lost)...
Bloody good match, though, but I just couldn't take the stress. Switched the TV off at 3-2 and just went and sat in a darkened room. Alex's goal was the turning point, and from then on Chelsea had the momentum and that's probably why it went on to be a crazy goalfest towards the end. Not even Istanbul was that intense!
Oh, er, keep on voting in the WC host thingy because the current tally is like I'm gonna tell you that. Keep voting!

The only thing that surprises me is that people can still get excited about the same four teams winning the same tournaments year after year after year after year. I can't be the only person to find this extraordinarily tedious.
While admitting my bias, at least someone different won the FA Cup last year; surely not only Portsmouth supporters found that refreshing.
And to think the English used to make fun of the Scottish league.
We may have some dominant teams in our own tournament, but at least Valanora doesn't win every NSWC, and the last NSWC final was one of the quirkier combinations of recent years.
And anyways it says WC Discussion thread not just IC WC discussion and a lot of these teams have possible world players on them and really is it a big problem.

Ahoy, this is a little bit of a late notice from he-who-is-annoying-to-some-people-and-maybe-yeah-he's-annoying-to-everyone-at-sometime:
The IFL Season 11 will continue as planned just in time for the BoF to start (whenever that happens to be). I will be the Apertura stuff finished and reply to the people who have sent me requests on the NFL Thread and via TGs (or other media) ASAP. I must say that I've been overrun with work recently so I haven't been able to make the best time on NS.

Really don't have anywhere else to put this, so I'll say it here.
Expect to see relatively little of me around here for the next few weeks. "Hell week," as we call it here, is currently in full swing and truly living up to its name this time around as I prepare for what looks like it'll be my second all-nighter in as many nights. With three major projects on the table (one of which just hit me with a document due date of 9am tomorrow...as mentioned in an e-mail at 11am this morning), my amount of free time is going to be severely reduced, if not outright revoked. Add in graduation preparations (Margaret and the Random Number Gods be praised!), final exams starting in a week and a half, and a long-distance move immediately following that, and I don't expect to return to full capacity until the middle of next month.
I'll probably still be around to some extent for the next two weeks, anyway, but not too terribly often.

No, I'm not. My scorinator is pretty basic and I found, in BoF 22 that 1) it rounded up scores unfairly, ie with the same random numbers generated a 1-1 score for two defensive teams might result in at 4-3 score for two attacking teams; and 2) when using a goal difference method to separate teams with the same points, attacking teams are favoured (perhaps I should go to % difference). Anyway, I decided to leave it out.

We'd be willing to travel to Somewhereistonia, especially given one of our players plays in your national league system.
I'd like to a play a pre-qual friendly to act as a testimonial for some of my older players who're retiring.
If you're willing, I am.
Sure, if you don't mind playing against an Ursine team..
I think my players may be a little nervous, but more reason for us to lose. :P
So, this would be the tentative schedule (all away games for me):
1. Nethertopia vs. The Macabees
2. Nong Nang Ning vs. The Macabees
3. Somewhereistonia vs. The Macabees
4. Quintessence of Dust vs. The Macabees
5. Bears Armed vs. The Macabees
I think this is a pretty hefty friendlies world tour for any team. :P
Is that the Tourney game or a total seperate?

Would you like to take part in the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy with Star and me?
Sarzonia's home venue will be the new Mike Sarzo Stadium in our largest city Nicksia. Unless you'd like the venue to be Concord Heights.
We would love to take part and to do so at the new Mike Sarzo Stadium.
Okay, as I've indicated via telegram to The Macabees, I forgot to mention that as per precedent, there will be a limit of three friendlies at pre-qualifying, mid-qualifying and post-qualifying.
There is nothing stopping you from finding some way to come up with your own results for games we aren't scorinating.
For the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy, a single telegram from Sarzonia confirming the entire schedule would suffice.
The following pre-qualifying friendlies are CONFIRMED:
Nethertopia v. Bostopia
Quintessence of Dust v. Achtervolging
Quintessence of Dust v. The Macabees
Septentrionia v. Quintessence of Dust
So The Macabees can either choose two more from the remaining list of four for us to scorinate and do the other two at mid-qualifying, or he can find an agreeable way with the other teams to come up with scores.

Now that the new forums are an open beta, I can bring back one of my redacted posts...
Seeing as how NS sports has its own subsection (http://forum.nationstates.net/viewforum.php?f=7) at the new beta forums, I'd suggest the following as a timeline for a move of the football-related stuff:
Now — All archived threads we have should be posted in the new forum.
Now — World Cup 46 qualifying and finals remain on these forums, as does the WCDT (for now).
Now — All other threads (like International Domestic NewsWires) should be moved to the new forum (starting with an archive of all previous posts), and new posts can be added there after that.
After — The CoH for WC46, and subsequent tournaments, should take place on the new forums.
After — The WCDT should be moved to the new forums with the conclusion of WC46.
This is, of course, just a suggestion, and as [violet] said on the new forums, "What Jolt do is up to them, but they're not planning to take down their NS forum as far as I know. If they did, we would try to load an import, to preserve important threads.

I think being on the NS forums would hurt our signups to begin with. Transition threads over, definitely, but for sign-ups we should post in the Jolt forums to link to the NS ones.
Plus a WC47 Sign-ups and subsequent threads will allow us to give their board code a thorough testing!

Mid-qualifiers

vs Cassadaigua (home) _ details to be confirmed
Post-qualifiers
vs Dancougar (if we don't get drawn into the same group)
vs Somewhereistonia (ditto)
So that leaves us available for another two pre-qualifier games (with one of those slots offerred to Jeru FC...) and either two or three post-qualifier games... Is anybody interested? Either (or both) of the teams from the 'Dreamed Realm', perhaps? Would anybody be potentially interested, but wanting to wait and see whether we get drawn into the same group for the qualifiers anyway?

Agreed. I still remember the old forums and the problems they had, played havoc with WC15 IIRC...
Thing is, we won't actually know whether they'll be able to handle stuff unless we start moving things there and using it, will we? It's not like we'll be losing anything that's over here.

Did you do one of those for Sarzonia or have the Stars not earned that yet? :p
Actually, I have not...
I try not to bias against anyone, but I generally only do this as a little perk for myself, ICly because the administrative language isn't English. If we extended political/economic contacts (i.e. Samseong offers to buy a team in your domestic league, MBC offers you a contract to sell you outdated "documentaries" to broadcast for 99 years, someone decides to sell you Han military equipment, etc...), we would have a really good reason to give you a name so we can use it for our records :P.
That said...

Given that this is AP-time, this is an absolutely dreadful two weeks for the NSWC to pop up on me. Given how much I put into my rosters, I'm probably not going to post one for quite a while (probably not until next saturday). Sorry.
If you face me, please use my roster from last cup, located here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=14562525#post14562525). Changes off the top of my head include the introduction of Anamer Tascarnin (Caires Sports) as a starting center defender (he's been in rosters in the past, if you need a bio) and Amern S'toris as starting goalkeeper. Just use it and make the younger guys score.
Oh, and the starting striker is Jaria Soradrin. She has a bio if you search for it.
Thanks.

I enthusiastically assure everyone that I am not whining with the following request: could there be links to individual team rosters, the draw, and scores thread somewhere? I can find absolutely none of the above. Did we move them to the new forums or something? Also, an ETA on the date and time of the first matcheay would be cool too, as I have heard nothing about that, too.

So, do you want to cancel the game against 'The Bear Islands', or move it to later in the competition (if you have room in your schedule for it then...) or hold it now without official scorination? The islanders' vote would be for the middle option...

Sure thing man ...
Did you miss our request for a friendly against Jeru FC? It's obviously far too late to make this a 'pre-qualifying' one (as in the previous two Cups) now, and our mid-qualifying schedule is filled, but we'd still be interested if they'd be willing to come here for a post-qualifiers game...
Or maybe Jerusalem, this time (to try avenging your defeat at our hands during the last Cup's group stage?) instead?
___________________________________________________________
We have one post-qualifying game against Somewhereistonia, already agreed.
Our potential post-qualifying game against Dancougar has been cancelled, because of the fact that we were drawn into the same group for qualifying anyway.
So, there's one slot left in our post-qualifying schedule... or two slots if neither Jeru FC nor Jerusalem is interested...

Somehow, I manage to ignore the wars, the embassies, the defense spending, and the car racing that goes on in NS roleplaying. It doesn't hurt a bit, it doesn't cost anything and it helps me not get eyes rolled at me.

Still, don't be surprised if "KICK IT HIGH OR THAT CAT IS TOAST" ends up on signs held up by the fans behind the Norwellia goal next time you come around...
Norwellia- Is the post qual friendly confirmed?
LE has told me he'll be taking post-qual confirmations later in the tournament, so as to absolutely minimize the potential for scheduling disasters. That means that our friendly isn't official yet, so I'd be happy to move it up to mid-qual. I didn't need it to be post-qual for any specific reason, and I'd rather play a full schedule.
(ETA: I'll wait for you to confirm that here or in TG, or you can just go ahead and tell LE to make it a mid-qual. Otherwise just ignore this...)
I think Maggie hates animal cruelty. You should try vegetables!
That's the only explanation I can find for Norwellia looking like a serious qualification contender. I will offer a burnt veggie curry sacrifice to keep Her happy.
