He had bumped into a human boy of about fifteen who had also been regarding the Tower.

The boy had black hair, skin pale almost to the point of luminescence, and gray eyes. He was dressed in black, not because he had to, but because he chose to, and under his jacket was a stark white shirt.

He turned to look at the man who had bumped into him, and made several quick observations that he kept to himself.

"I would, elder, but I myself have only just arrived here by will of my mother, and I do not know where anyone or anything is."

"Well then, shall we explore together? New places are always funner with a friend and companion." The old man said.

"Not to appear rude, elder, but I was following specific instructions given to me by one of my mother's subjects to find a specific individual. To suddenly halt this now would be a serious transgression on my part...and there is no mortal living that would cross my mother's will, nor even any immortal, divine or no."

"I did not mean to not follow the instructions given you by another, I meant let us attempt to find our individual objectives together. Finding the person your mother asked you to find should also lead me to someone who knows where the library is, and if there is someone who will read to me, or at least help me learn a system by which I can obtain information alone if no one can or will help me. Along the way, you can be my eyes, helping me to learn the layout of this place.

The boy almost sighed, he just wanted to find the mortal he was sent to look for and find the purpose of this exercise.

Instead he was to play seeing-eye dog to someone COMPLETELY different, simply because the man insisted on having a companion.

"Very well, Elder."

The boy simply led the way in, looking around, thinking to find his target, before thinking that perhaps it would be best to see the old man to his destination before he approached the man he sought.

And the Ta'Nar, Galvenor, placed imps in the library some time ago, did he not? For research aides?

The boy's gray eyes narrowed sharply as he looked for a guide, and when he found one he pressed it briefly into service to lead them to the library.

He led the elder up the flights of stairs, through the hallways, and finally past the library doors.

"It appears we have come to the library first, Elder. I must go on with my journey, as the one I seek is not here, but surely you can find someone who may help you."

OOC: Well... I return. 'Bout it really.

IC:
Eldrad was working with his students, all of whom were progessing much faster than he had expected. It was true that one of such age would inevitably find it difficult to believe the talent of youth... but to see such a concentration in such a small area was a remarkable event... something to report to the Black Library perhaps?

Having demonstrated through various methods how to attack and defend, he divided them into pairs once more ((I'll let you decide who he picked to go with who)), and set them a task. Using a low-power version of the orb, one of them had to attempt to paralyze the other, whilst the defendant had to deflect the orb, and, if possible, use it against their opponent. However, he didn't expect them to be able to achieve this final goal... it was a difficult technique to use at such an early stage of one's learning.

Before he started, he gave them one piece of advice,"I have spent a lifetime learning the arts of the spirit magick. I am still learning. Do not expect instant results... it is a much more difficult form of magick to wield effectively than any other, due to it's inherrent association with death, which many find disturbing. You must move beyond that, and then you can truly begin to develop your skills. Begin."

As they started, he found his 'inner eye', for want of a better phrase, wandering to sight the newcomer to the Tower. Frowning slightly, he diverted a little more of his attention to this boy... something did not seem quite right.

You are looking for me, young one. Why? he thought to himself, before returning his attention to his students.

I have lived there for so long, I have forgotten, or do not know of such a force. If I told you more, could you perhaps offer up a suggestion?" The old man asked.

This time, Elif had elected to pair up with Loki, as the smaller being seemed more to his level. He'd struggle some, yes, but he felt he was starting to understand the gift he'd been born with.

Meanwhile, the boy that seemed to be made of variances on black and white soon made his way down, and stayed some distance away, merely watching.

I can smell better than most, for example, somewhere near, is a troll. I can hear better than most, even the light steps of the elven creatures in this building. Once again asking the spirits for their aid, he conjured up an orb of spirit energy and shot it at Elif.

A faint fog had appeared around the Roharanhan, and as Loki gathered his orb, a glowing energy formed around the creature's forearms, down to his fingertips, and also at his toetips.

As the energy approached him, he reached out to catch it from the air, and years of practice and millenia of genetics did not fail him. Instinct told him to bite the thing he had caught, but experience told him that would hurt.

So instead, he threw Loki's ball back at him.

The young mage did not expect Elif to return the energy so quickly... he thought they were taking turns, and thus barely had sufficient time to pool enough energy to deflect the orb.

Alarm entered Elif as the smaller creature went flying. Surely he couldn't survive such a throw!

He gathered powerful muscles beneath him, not letting the shields around his arms and feet fall, and bounded toward the smaller mage.

Thus, Loki found himself snatched out of the air by the large felinoid's teeth, yet the grip was gentle enough to cause no pain.

He set the mage on the ground and looked down at him.

"Are you all right?"

Elif shook, returning to normal. He watched Loki move away...a slow and clumsy gait, almost hobbling...

The giant felinoid felt his own fatigue, and considered how much more tired the smaller creature must be.

He looked at Eldrad, then bounded off. He would probably know when to come back.

Probably.

Meanwhile, the boy with white skin and black hair and eyes watched the two leave. They are very interesting creatures indeed...and a Roharanhan coming here...very interesting indeed.

He waited silently from the shade.

Teji wandered through the halls. He had no desire to rest just yet. He was not realy exahusted as yet for his kind had a much greater endurance than most other mortal creatures. The air was kind of heavy campared to his own atmospher making breathing much easier. He Wondered how such a small planet of natural origen could be full of so much vibrance. This whole night and day thing was also kind of confusing. Kind of strange when one is used to the sun always being in the same spot. He then began to think back at how his ancestors could have posibly created such a huge world over the ages much information of technology and magic was lost as each took it's turn at power and dominince. It was his cultures hope that this time this new age would be stabale with both forces in play.

The young mage had a pleasant rest under his favorite tree in the courtyard of the White Tower. In it he encountered all sorts of odd beasts and creatures imbued with magick from all around the world...

Later in his travels he would have to see if he could find them... if they were even real. But for the moment, Loki just wanted a little cool refreshing water; he waived his hand towards the bubbling fountain and a small cup's worth of water glided through the air and down his parched throat...

She came, from another place. A little blue portal opened up, and out she stepped, and it was gone. She had Black hair, and her skin was somewhat Yellow, but not overly so, it was more, off-white. her red lips curved in an excited smile. She adjusted the mace on her back. it was of wood, painted blue, with Gold bands at the top. Large blue spikes stuck out at the head.

her eyes were black, and they hurt with the sudden light change. and her small dainty hands shielded them. Her nails were painted pink. she reached into her blue robe covering the rest of her body, and pulled out a doll. It had a small pointy hat, and its face was painted to be hidden by its hat a clothes, which were simple enough, for they were common mage robes.

"You sure I can learn more here Painted Man?"

The doll, to all outward signs, simply stared back at here. Anyone skilled enough would get the impression that the doll was answering her, but it was as if she was simply talking to herself.

"Ok." she said, putting the doll away.

she walked slowly, with caution, but she did it so well, it was as if it was the way she always walked. Anyone with magic could tell, she had skill in that area, only slightly tamed. Still, others with powers of the mind, could also tell she had skill in that area as well. As she walked, she glanced about at the odd spirit. It was comforting, knowing that spirits were here as well, it reminded her of her friends, elsewhere. She looked about, getting her bearings, and moved on.

Not many cultures are so anti individualistic as to not create some sort of identification to seperate individuals. Even bees give off different sents to identify themselfs. Well now you have something to identify yourself. You are uncomfortable talking about your past as I could tell do not worry I will not press or think about it any more. A vortex of power strained angrily at the circular barrier enacted by the Ta’Nar before he went into his trance. It had barely contained the thrashing energies but some had escaped. The result was the room literally being tossed about. Books flew everywhere. Fragments of shelves whipped through the air, causing Eldred to take some reflexive actions to avoid the sharp fragments. The howl of moving air causes a subtle rumble only heard within the room due to the sealing enchantments enacted long ago by the Chancellor.

"What is going on?"

Eldrad spoke the question out loud, not quite sure who he was talking to. This was something he did occasionally... a Farseer of his caliber could be excused certain eccentricities in their personalities, particulary given his age and recent escapades.

He had been believed dead in the wake of the 13th Black Crusade, his soul supposedly devoured by the Great Devourer, but that had not been Eldrad at the head of the assualt on the Blackstone Fortress. Instead, it had been a willing accomplice, one who knew of his deception, which was being used to give the impression that the venerable master was dead, which would lead his enemies to give him some peace.

He reached out, as if to touch the thrashing storm of energy in front of him, his fingers seemingly resistant to the intense energies that enveloped them. His eyes closed, and he reached out with his mind,Galvenor...

He floated just beneath the surface of the barrier seperating the physical world from the metaphysical. The tidal effects of the energy flow caused a maelstorm of discord preventing him from passing. Whenever he tried to enter the vortex of energy to pass through it completely disorientated him and threw him back. Without some sort of guide or marker, getting through was hopeless, even for Galvenor. Even if he was not weakened by the mysterious and unknown event the night before, Galvenor would be unable to force his way through that barrier.

Off in the distance of his mind, he thought he heard someone call his name. Unfortunately it was lost in the chaos of the attempt he was taking to push his way through, only to find himself facing the direction he just came from, again.

Floating in the Nether, Galvenor tried to pierce the veil seperating reality from the Metaphysical. His actions was wasted for he did not have enough power to even cause a ripple in the endless curtain streatched out before him.

Through the barrier he could catch glimpses of objects, unidentifiable representations of their real world counterparts. The undulating of the barrier made everything flicker as if everything was moving, even if the real version wasn't.

He thought he caught a glimpse of Eldrad, but the curtain also allowed him to catch glimpses of the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, and the Coca-Cola polar bear. You had to be careful in believing what you saw and take nothing for granted.

Galvenor took a chance and used every bit of energy he had left. In his weakened state it wasn't much but just maybe it would be enough to catch Eldrad's attention, if that wasn't a figment of his imagination reflected in the Barrier. He directed the energy into his mind and shaped it into a spear and tried to thrust it theough the curtain. He was not sure it worked, he could only wait to see.

Galvenor was completly exhausted now. He had used the last of his energy and was now defenseless and he could feel the dark shadows below growing closer.

Idainn had waited long enough, had observed long enough.

He suddenly appeared at Eldrad's side, reaching through the barrier to grab the spear of energy that was Galvenor's.

It burned...it burned like nothing the fifteen-year old had felt before...but when dealing with the dead, you learned to expect that not everything was for your benefit. Sometimes it hurt.

He manipulated the energy, so near to the spirit energy he was used to controlling, and formed a net around Galvenor's consciousness.

"Come here."

He yanked, dragging Galvenor back through the barrier into the real world.

"I realize the area is staff only...but there's only so much one can wait through."

He made a slight bow to Eldrad. "Your pardon, Master Farseer."

Galvenor floated helplessly as those from below closed upon him. The darkness closed in and suddenly it pounced upon him. He tried to fight back but he had used all his power to fashon the beacon that had just faded theough the barrier and he was at the mercy of the Dark Ones. The shadow beings ignored his feeble defences, rupturing them without even a concious action and they began to tear into Galvenor.

The Ta'Nar felt them ripping into his mind, tearing at his very being and laying his soul open and bleeding. He began to convulse sporaticly when he felt a sudden warmth envelop him. A net of energy surrounded him keeping the others at bay. As the net pulled him through the Barrier he could hear the soul shivering howl of anguish from the lurkers as they descended back into the gloom below.

Suddenly light flooded his existance as he emerged in his study. His immaterial form lay upon the floor, his barely seen image flickering as he shook from the brutal attack.

Galvenor’s vision faded into perspective. He found himself hovering near the floor of some room. It took him a few moments to recognize his own chambers. Pain wracked him through his entire being from the many wounds inflicted upon him while he was in the Nether region. He tried to clear his mind to center himself. He repeated a couple mantras to himself to help calm himself.

He felt completely drained of energy. The lethargy was forcing him back into unconsciousness but he was fighting it as best he could. He needed to be sure none of the Shadows were brought along through with him. He tried to look around but with his barely functional vision he could only see a few feet, the rest was still a blur.

Suddenly a form intruded into his vision, causing him to cringe reflexively from the possibility of attack. Galvenor could perceive sonic vibrations emitting from the figure’s mouth, throat, and chest meaning it was trying to speak. He concentrated upon the sound waves and read their energy patterns to see what it was saying.

"I'm unfamiliar with the functioning of a Ta'Nar essence...so if you can tell me how to help you, I'll do what is within my power."

he tried to answer the person but there was not enough energy within himself to form a strong enough telepathic message. All he could manage was an open broadcast, barely even a whisper that those with psionic talents might hear. He was not sure in the individual could hear him or if Eldrad was in range, he could only try his best.

“…must…”

“…look…”

“…for…”

“…shadows…”

“…none…”

“…can…”

“…escape…”

“…into…”

“…the…”

“…school…”

Galvenor had to rest a little before continuing. He hoped someone could hear him. He hoped they had shut the door, otherwise if something followed him, it could get out and attack the students.

"The shadows..."

Eldrad's eyes opened wide.. he'd heard of such beasts. They were similar to those that resided in the warp, highly intelligent but brutal and callous. They existed to cause others pain. If Galvenor had indeed been attacked by them, there was every chance they could have escaped.

"I suggest you shield your eyes, Idiann."

Once the youth had done so, Eldrad closed his, and began muttering something to himself under his breath, barely heard by anyone. But to any Eldar, the spell would have caused them to shy away... only the select few had ever attempted to do what Eldrad now tried.

Utilising his considerable focus, now returned after his sudden bout of powerlessness, he willed huge amounts of energy from the surroundings, so much that anyone trained in utilising fashka in that specific way would be shocked at the scale, into himself. It was unheard of for so much energy to be used for a single spell, to be absorbed by one person. His skin itself seemed to glow... and suddenly, almost with warning, his eyes opened, staring into the far distance as the light burst outwards from him.

It travelled throughout the school, irregardless of doors or stone walls, seen only as the briefest of flashes. But it did more than simply eliminate all shadows cast thanks to it's intensity. It acted like a sonic wave to Eldrad, relaying information back to him. He could see the entire school in his mind, see it's occupants, and another out of the ordinary would be instantly visible.

"Energy would be well spent replenishing Glavenor, though. I will do that...Death Child...seal the barrier, if you know how."

Idainn hopped up, putting his hand to the barrier and narrowing his eyes.

Galvenor lay parlyized by the immense pain inflicted when the Shadows had attacked him. The tears and rips in his mind caused him to retreat within his consciousness to the only place the pain did not reach, his subconscious.

It was there Galvenor felt the inrush of energy. The sudden flood of healing magic grated across his torn mind much the same way warm water burned frostbite. The energy began the healing processes but the damage was extensive meaning it would be a while before he was healed enough to begin functioning again.

Several minutes passed before Galvenor was able to respond. He had regained a small amount of Power but it was barely enough to function. He arose out of his Intellect Fortress he had retreated into and feebly scanned those in the room. Being familliar with two of the three individuals occupying his office, he managed to establish a weak telepathic link with them.

With that, the boy took a deep breath and stepped into the barrier, going through it.

You have to hurry before it is too late. He would be defenseless against Them.

"At ease, at ease, Galvenor. The boy is the one Aras demanded of Costh some years ago...I doubt he is entirely defenseless...aside from that, the barrier is already sealing itself at a rapid rate. To go through now would be to risk being stuck between forever."

Galvenor's face went ashen at their words.

Death's Child? If They capture him then they will have both. We must do something before it is too late. Please bring that carved box from the mantle. We don't have any time to waste.

After the box was brought to him, Galvenor reached his hand into the closed container. Upon recognizing him, the box began to glow with a dark light. The features swam together and the box collapsed into an iridescent spindel floating gently above his illusionary palm. The gem seemed to draw part of him inside for a moment. After identifying Galvenor, the jewel began to spin. The spinning increased until the amber crystal was a blur of light and motion. Amber light dripped from the hovering gem and flowed into the prone illusionary form below. Where the glow touched, the ripped and torn body of the Ta'Nar seemed to heal and solidfy.

While this was happening, the gateway continued to close.

Idainn worked quickly and efficiently, sealing off the gate from the inside.

When he was certain it was sealed, he banished it.

Then they were upon him.

He fought off a few, before trying to withdraw to his mother's plane...and finding it closed to him.

Panic burned through his blood as he again repelled these shadows.

He had an advantage that Galvenor hadn't. He wasn't withdrawn, and he'd dealt with demonic creatures before.

Didn't mean he liked this, just that he could hold his own until the panic subsided and he could think clearly again.

As the energies from the gem restored him, Galvenor looked up to his two companions.

That gateway leads to a place not many know about. It is commonly thought the Multiverse is balanced between Good and Evil. That is basically true. While there are many creatures that are Good and there are many that are Evil, that is just a moral judgment. There is no way to place a value for balance on something as subjective as opinion.

The jewel was repairing his torso, filling in the torn areas with energy that healed while it strengthened the Headmaster.

There is another way Nature balances out the Multiverse. There are sections of the Multiverse that are layered off from the rest. They are diametrically opposed in “charges” if you want to think of them that way. It might help to call them Plus and Minus, or even Ours and Theirs.

The restoration was working on Galvenor’s legs now. They were losing their transparency.

This means so far you have been fighting things from our side of the Multiverse. The other side is aware of us and they consider themselves the Plus and us the Minus, while we think the same way. The Multiverse made sure there was no interaction between the opposites. There is a barrier between our halves we call The Hef’LaTesh.

Last night when Eldrad and I were talking, They struck at me, they tried to sever my link, the Conduit Ta’Nar uses to access the energies of the Multiverse for our wizardry and psionics. I had to trace the attack and in The Hef’LaTesh I met my other self.

I won’t put on airs, I ran. There was no way I could even hope to match myself when I was already struck a blow that almost made me powerless. He and the others with him made it a game of tag, trying to see where they could strike and how much they could do to me before I surrendered or was cornered.

The jewel repaired the last of his form and slowly spins down until it only hovered above his palm again. He quickly manipulated the gem back into a box and it flew over to its place on the mantle.

You see, there is another Death other there with another Death’s Child. How would you stand against yourself? They are not good or evil, alignment of that sort is irrelevant in this case. We must go to his aid or the Shadows will capture him and then we will have an even bigger problem. What would Death do in order to save her Child, even if he was not born to her she did raise him.

"She would do all in her power... but if what you are saying is correct, as I have no doubt it is, then we must retrieve the child immediatley. However... you say that you encountered your... how to phrase this... opposite figure, whilst you were there, yes?"

He paused, thinking,"The blow almost rendered you powerless... but by the same principle, that which strikes first is the one that retains their power. In order to retrieve Idiann, as I have named him for now, we must strike before they do."

"The real question is...now that the barrier is sealed and gone, how do we get over there to rescue the boy...and once there, how do we find him without being overtaken ourselves?"

"How do you break something that has been removed?" mused Eldrad,"It is not something I am well versed in, removing that which is not there."

OOC: Allow me to drop a hint... you can reply to that any time you like.

OOC: I can provide a gateway to the otherside, if you like. But, I can't get in there to do so. Any bridges I would provide, would either have to come from the otherside, or you would have to leave galvenor's office to find someone on this side that could bridge the void between sides.

“I think I have the strength to reopen the aperture again. I cannot promise anything but I will try.”

Galvenor concentrated and after a few moments reality collapsed upon itself where the Circle was still etched into the floor. Light flowed and ran together until it merged and inverted. The result was a bizarre oval with a negative image of the wall on the other side. Reds became green, light became dark. A candle upon a table burned dark with a black halo of darkness radiating outward. The ebon flame burned the candle whole again leaving a coating of frost upon the slowly growing candle.

Galvenor again seemed to collapse, barely holding the portal open. He slunk to the ground with one arm outstretched toward the gate, holding it open by his will alone.

“Hurry… I can only hold it for so long….”

Deep within his mind, ronevlaG hid behind carefully constructed shields. He wanted Galvenor’s associates to enter the portal so they would meet those who were expecting them.

After they were gone, ronevlaG would start on the pitiful students of this so called college. The real Galvenor was safely contained by his own team in The Tween and soon his friends would join him. After that dardlE and roneR and even nniadI if they could locate and capture his counterpart Idainn like they did the weakened Galvenor.

Another waited in The Tween, away from the action, behind his own special barriers. the Mad God and his opposite, The Sane God were both safely tucked away in The Source and in The Void. Their brothers were both safely locked away in their own realities. Old hatreds lay at rest for now.

This, man that waited in the void, was similar, yet diffrent. He wore armor, that absorbed light. He wore a sword, belted at his side, like the other, only it was made of a crimson metal. He too, sat astride a steed. Only this one wasn't noble or enchanting or anything of the sort. It was magickal though, bearing dark magick, from the dark depths where the Demons dwelled. It was known as a Hrulga, and it wiggled its claws, and licked its fangs in nervous anticipation of meat, glorious meat, more meat than it had ever had at once. Its skin was leathery, and black. It had a giant pair of batwings, one of the few that did.

The man astride the horse, checked his shield, unlike the other, who bore the crest of The Omnisource, This one bore no crest at all, the symbol of The void.

ffohlagehaR known as the Harbinger of Darkness waited with gleeful anticipation, waiting for the signal from ronevlaG to attack.

Meanwhile, on this side of things, Rahegalhoff trotted up to the White Tower on Starfire. Something called him back here, a place he had not been in a while. He looked diffrent than he had when he was here before. He still had his Gold chain, but his armor was no longer Silver in color. It was now White.
His shield crest had changed, for he no longer served Warfare, now he served The Omnisource.

He looked at the tower, and memories of long ago floated forward. She would have loved it here, if it weren't for all the people. So would little Frin. ahh, little Frin, but that was another time, another place. Of course, those memories made him remember Doom, the entity that changed his life forever. He whispered a quick prayer for strength, and looked fondly at the tower. He was weary with years, and wondered when at last he could rest. At least, here, there were no troubling memories, only old friends, that may not be there anymore.

With a sigh, he continued on his way to the tower, completly unaware of events taking place in Galvenor's office.

OOC: Thanks Bal for the idea for evil Rahegalhoff. I'm going to have him follow your lead, as though he were simply a member of your team in The Tween, at least for now.

Eldrad looked at the portal for a moment, as if contemplating something... it was one thing to say they would do this, but quite another to actually step through and do it. He approached tentatively, and took another few moments to examine it,"This is indeed strong magick... and most definatley a portal between realms. It is possible to retrieve our young friend... and yet..."

He felt something, something out of place, in his own world. He looked at Galvenor, as if searching within him. Eldrad's eyes had that feeling to them, the feeling that they were staring into your very soul, laying it bare before the Farseer so he could judge. He frowned, and then blinked,"Renor, perhaps we should summon Aras, and seek her counsel."

On the other side, dardlE leaned on his blade. He was the opposite of Eldrad, not only in colouring of his armour and blade, but also his mannerisms. He was very laid back, his hair was cut short, and he stared ahead as if lost in his own thoughts. The idea of ronevlaG, to impersonate his duplicate and convince the duplicates of everyone else to cross over so they could be captured, was about to come to fruition in his mind. dardlE couldn't quite fathom why he had so much distaste for his opposite figure, but he was still resolved to complete the plan.

Watching from his carefully crafted hiding spot ronevlaG kept an iron grip on the image of Galvenor he was projecting. He silently cursed Eldrad's Farseer ability and the trepidation it was allowing him to feel instead of just entering tha damn gate. He thought for a moment and decided to use their good feelings toward his imposter's health. He caused the image to fade and flicker hoping it would tell them their friend was using too of his energy holding the gate open.

---

Galvenor seemed to be concentrating with his whole being as his left arm was held outstreached toward the open gate. His image seemed to fade and flicker as if he was channeling his very essence to hold it open for his friends. He spoke to them using his weakened telepathy, sounding like whispers within their minds.

"... get what help you need ... but hurry ... can't hold for long ... will do best I can ..."

OOC:

I don't mind if you discover the ruse, you will have to locate the real Galvenor. If this doesn't work the encounter should spill out of the office so the other students can participate in this option too. We can't be the only ones having all the fun.

OOC: And don't forget, ffohlegahaR is ready to go at a moment's notice. All ronevlaG really has to do is give an indication to crash through gate begin killing.

IC: ffohlegahaR kept a tight reign on his winged Hrulga, waiting anxiously to go.
