She kisses him back, just as softly, letting it linger for a moment before breaking it and resting her head on his shoulder.

OOC: I'll give it two posts before she falls asleep standing up.

He rubbed her back slightly, feeling her body warm up in response to his hands and embrace

She murmurs something so softly it's incomprehensible.

He saw how tired she was, and picked her up in his arms, kissing her very softly as he carried her over to the bed. He laid her down, and then lay next to her, putting his arm round her to cuddle up closer to her

She cuddles in closer to him, and is out within seconds.

He watched her drift to sleep, and lay there watching her sleep, before falling asleep himself

The others come back in that night, so D'anthe lets her sleep until eight.

Cougar woke at seven thirty. He saw she was still there, and didn't move, just lay there dozing

She opens her eyes about fifteen minutes later, and turns over to face him. His hair had grown out some, and she reached to move some away from his face.

He smiled,"Morning"

"Good morning. Sleep well?"

"Very. Looks like you did as well"

She nods. "Still a few minutes before D'anthe insists it's time to get up."

"It's a good few minutes," he said, brushing some of his hair out of the way and kissing her

She kisses him back, very softly.

His hair fell back across his face, so he was forced to break the kiss very slowly,"I've got to get this cut"

She laughs. "I remember when you had it long and liked it that way."

"I've got used to having it short"

"Yes, I know. I remember when you got it cut. Almost didn't recognise you when you came home."

He laughed,"Yes... I thought you were going to lock me out the house at that point"

"Lucky for you we were married at that point, so I could feel that it was you."

He smiled, and kissed her again, having tucked his hair behind his ear for the time being

She smiles and kisses him back, and then D'anthe nudges her. She breaks the kiss slowly.

"Well, looks like it's time to go."

"Looks like it," he sighed, sitting up and starting to get dressed,"Back to class as usual... and I was just getting used to free reign again"

She gets up, and starts preparing for her day. "Oh well. You'll get over it."

She goes and gives him a kiss, then leaves.

"I'm sure I will," he said, kissing her and leaving soon after

Life in Rendelmar is once again busy...everyone is back, like they'd never left.

He smiled slightly. Although he was anti-social at times, it was good to see them all back in one piece

They all seem glad to be back...even though it means back to training.

He went about his daily buisness, going to his class as required, and then filling his time with other training. He felt that the war had passed him by, knowing that the trip had gone on and would most likely end it all in the past, but still, it paid to be prepared

Shan joins him again for some of his training. "So, what are we doing today?"

Cougar had been working on some things that Leviathan had been teaching him,"New magick styles... and also a tiny bit of infiltration later"

"Cool."

Does this kid never give up?

"How'd you do out there?"

He shrugs. "Could have done worse...but there are still missing."

"There always are some that are missing after a large battle..." mused Cougar, knowing well the meaning,"Anyway, care to join me?"

"I guess."

Cougar smiled,"Good... I need someone to spar with who is at my level, if not slightly higher"

Shan looked confused a moment, then nodded. "You mean magickally. Okay."

He goes to the other side of the room, and stands ready.

Cougar lit himself up... but there was something different. Whilst before, it had flared around him, it now stayed tight. The control he had over it had increased dramatically. It formed a barrier round him, and he stood ready himself, the energy sizzling in his hands,"Ready when you are"

"I am ready."

Cougar fired off a small blast of energy, which rolled as it came towards Shan, crackling

Shan held up his hand, first three fingers up, and guestured, sending the ball of energy off to the side. A faint sheen of blue energy can be seen between his index and middle fingers.

Shield spell... controlled by where he puts his hand by the looks of it

Cougar launched a three pronged assualt, the beams leaving his body and curving in the air, leaving burning afterimages on his retinas... well, as best they could. They would all hit Shan at the same moment

The sheild spreads to cover Shan's entire front, and from his other hand he launches a spell crackling with black energy...only it spread out as it came toward him...like an ooze, trying to cover him.

That's a new one

Cougar lanced out with spears of fire, trying to pentrate the ooze like magick, but he also shielded himself with the new technique Leviathan had showed him. It came up, a barrier of Flame, and had the room not been protected against magicks, it would most likely have melted the floor

The ooze is not so quickly broken, and it moves in closer, wrapping around Cougar's arm.

"A technique you learned in class will help here."

Which one... ah, but of course

Cougar stopped his assualt, and turned his attention to a new tactic; closing it down. He enclosed the ooze in Flame, and began to squeeze it, containing it

The ooze began to be contained, but a different attack launched out at Cougar, sending a silver spiral at his head.

Cougar countered, taking the spiral with the palm of his hand, and wrapping it in White Flame, before sending it shooting back at Shan

Like a spring...

Shan's spell stretches out, then turns and heads back at Cougar, aiming for his torso this time...but its trailing end would contact his legs. And the ooze started spreading again when he left off his concentration.

Great... no matter what I do, I'm going to lose this... so much for improving. Thanks a bunch Leviathan, you taught me jack... all you taught was control

Cougar was forced to split his concentration, and the ooze began to expand again. He deflected the attack... but couldn't stop the ooze. So he did the next best thing, and teleported away. He arrived next to Shan, and unleashed two balls of energy

Shan got his sheilds up in time to not take damage, but he still went flying.

Landing on his feet, he lashed out with a dual spell...one part to drain Cougar's energy, and the other to eat away at his defense.

Why do I bother anymore... I'm always gonna get beaten

Cougar just stood there, and let both of the spells hit him. He simply stopped caring

"What are you doing?"

"What does it look like I'm doing?"

"Something stupid!"

"Sounds like something I would do," he said, charging a response to the energy drain inside of himself, away from the draining

"Do it in combat, it'll get you killed...but here..."

Shan's spells fade.

"It isn't worth it."

"At least in combat, I can actually do something with it," said Cougar, unleashing the charge he had been building. It flowed out of both hands, gathering energy as it sped across the room. The impact wasn't going to be hard, but the aftershock would, theoretically, knock him off his feet

Shan got his sheilds up in time to avoid the first wave, but that crumbled them, as they were put up rushedly.

The aftershock send him flying, and he barely avoided cracking his head open on the stone floor. He didn't charge a return attack, focusing on rebuilding his sheilds.

*Dryly*Wow... it worked. I'm so shocked, I cannot speak

Cougar just held up his hand, ready to take another attack

Shan stood up, and began to charge a spell, when all of a sudden, his sheilds started fading.

He started to put them up again, but within a minute, all of his magick was non-functional.

"Huh...looks like the spells they put on me have come into effect." By way of explanation "If any of us...except for you, have to start using too much tupora fashka to charge our spells, locks come into place so that we don't use it and thereby inadvertantly kill ourselves."

"I've never had them cast on me, because to do so would stop me completely"

"Yeah, well, such is life." He shrugs. "See ya later, I guess." He turns to walk out.

"See you around," he called, sitting down, and staring at his hands. Leviathan had pulled a trick yesterday, of creating a temporal hole. He'd hidden it from the others, but it was his way to teach Cougar more. He'd taken him there for a year or so... even though it was only a few minutes in real life. Cougar hadn't aged any, and also could still feel his bond, which reassured him. However... it seemed as if the only way to win was by them exhausting themselves... and that was only due to the events of the past few days. He stopped his training for the day, and just went back to the room

Rhenna gets back in at around nine-thirty.

"Something the matter?"

"No... not really"

His voice was convincing, but his manner wasn't

She sits down next to him. "Want to tell me about it?"

"How does it feel to be married to the worst mage in this place, taking into account his training?"

"Is that what's bothering you? I don't really think of it...you're a soldier, James...magick is something else entirely. You might take your magick to its full potential and still not be quite as effective as a fifty-year-old here, in some aspects. In others, you might surpass Renor. Your magick strikes me as very specific...no more, no less."

"Too specific. I spend a whole year training with the master of the Flame, and yet still, I cannot even beat Shan"

"Wait...back up. When were you gone for a year?"

"I wasn't going to mention it... Leviathan pulled a temporal trick, and trained me for a whole year. Sheer hell, I can tell you that much. I missed you so much, but he wouldn't let me go. And to you, it only seemed to be a few minutes"

She reaches out and begins to run her fingers through his hair.

"The time will come when you will understand your abilities, and their limits. Obstacles that you cannot break through...you must go around."

He closed his eyes,"It's just so... irritating. I mean, in that class, even though you say I'm improving... I can't see it"

"It's hard to see one's own progress, yes...but you really have come far."

He pushed himself up on his elbows,"Really?"

"Really."

He smiled slightly,"If you say it, it must be true"

She smiles and leans down to kiss him.

He kissed her back, letting it linger for a moment. He had missed her, but she'd been so tired last night, he'd decided not to say anything

She breaks it after a time, gently, but she doesn't pull back far.

"Remind me not to go away for what seems like a year"

"I'll do that, but how can I be sure you'll listen?"

"Because I have no wish to do it all over again?"

"That's probably a good reason."

"There you go then"

She lays down next to him. "Interesting, that you could be gone so long, by your standards, and I didn't even notice it."

"To you, it was only a few minutes."

She nods. "And a busy few minutes it must have been."

He smiled,"Most likely, for you not to notice I was gone"

She laughs. "You could have told me last night...but I don't know how alert I would have been."

"You wouldn't have noticed much"

"Probably not."

He smiled, and kissed her again,"How was your day?"

She kisses him back. "Not bad...everything's getting back to normal, and I don't have to deal with thirty-five little kids all on my own...especially when one has the tendency to wander off."

"Why do I suspect I know the one you're talking about?"

"Probably because you like him, in particular."

"He found me, not the other way around... but yeah, I've got a special attachment to him"

She smiles. "I think it's cute."

"Why?"

"Well, think about it for a moment. Two years ago, did you think you'd be good with children?"

"In no way, shape or form"

"But look at you now."

He smiled,"I suppose there has been some shift"

"To put it mildly."

"Living here, you have to get on with children, or you don't get on that much"

"True."

He smiled,"At least we agree on that"

"I have to admit, though...I never thought about it like that."

"Well, I'm glad to have exposed you to a new way of thinking. You get that alot with me"

She laughs and kisses him. "Must be a cultural thing."

He kissed her back, breaking it for a moment to say,"It could be... or I could just be slightly mental," before kissing her again

"You could be. We'll never know." She kisses him back, letting it linger.

He brought his arm up, and started to rub her upper arm as he let it linger

She moves in closer. He would be able to feel her warm to his touch.

A year away... and you never forget

He smiled slightly, still kissing her, still rubbing her arm

A few minutes...a year for him...he feels so happy to be back.

She continues the kiss, sliding one hand around to the back of his neck.

He felt her hand move round to the back of his neck, drawing him even closer to her...

He lay there, his arms wrapped round her, enjoying the sensation of her cool skin against his,"I love you"

She smiles. "I love you, too." She kisses him softly, then lays her head on his chest.

He smiled, kissing her back just as softly,"I missed you so much... a year is too long"

She nods, and starts tracing gently along one of his scars.

He lay there, enjoying the sensation of her fingers tracing his war wounds... one of many. He started running a finger down her back

She smiles softly, shivering slightly as his fingers hit certain points.

OOC: This isn't something to fight, so it belongs here.

IC: After Kajeenith sealed Ephseus, he stood atop his Fortress-temple.

"Milord, the, sacrifices, are ready." The executioner said.

"Good, Warfare is brilliant, I'll give him that, deliberatly dying to lull me into a false sense of security was a brilliant ploy, but Have I got a surprise for him when he returns, because they will suceed, I remember seeing their little group on Mirroden long long ago during the third War. I didn't think a thing of it at the time, I should have squashed them then. But no, I let them pass, I was too preoccupied with Warfare. Anyways, I'm going to have a surprise waiting for Warfare when he returns, you see, the old death never collected the souls of the Dark Gods, and their bodies never rotted, there are a lot of free citizens around creation that can be pressed into worship services, and all I have to do to revive them, to bring back the defeated Dark Gods that Warfare slew, is sacrifice our willing volunteers from Kaymiril. Thus they will resurect and I will take them with me, and decimate Warfare and his allies. With the extra sacrifices, we will remove Death's curse, by force." Kajeenith said.

Kajeenith let out an Evil laugh, and it was done.

OOC: And the attack on SEP??

IC: He smiled,"You like that, don't you?"

OOC:This attack is going to encompass Snake Eaters as well. Especially since, part of the fight is going to happen there, unless Leviathan blocks it, then SEP will be skipped altogether. Its a Large scale battle. Each Major Character will have a Dark God to fight, except Monian, whom I assume will be left safely in Rendelmar, and Aldur, who can't even fight off a butterfly yet. Shan has a Child like dark God of about equal power that likes to play ball. Unless Shan gets left behind, at which point, there will be an extra Dark God running around.

OOC: And the attack on SEP??

IC: He smiled,"You like that, don't you?"
She smiles back. "Has a year made you forget?"

"No... I just felt like asking"

She smiles and kisses him softly.

He kissed her back, his fingers curling in her hair

She lets it linger, feeling herself start to drift off.

He watched her start to drift off as he broke the kiss very softly,"Get some sleep, you look like you need it"

"What time is it?"

He didn't look at his watch, preferring to use his internal clock so as to minimise his movement and maximise his comfort,"Almost two in the morning"

She cuddles in a little closer. "Then sleep sounds like a good idea."

"Sleep is a good idea," he said, cuddling even closer still, kissing the top of her head,"Good night, Rhenna"

"Good night, James." She gradually drifts off to sleep.

This is something I really missed...

That was the last thought going through his head as he drifted off to sleep. He was happy... in his terms, the first time he'd been really happy in a year... but happy nonetheless

At 7:30, D'anthe nudged Rhenna out of a comfortable sleep. She got up, dressed, then leaned down to kiss her husband.

He stirred awake,"Is it that time already"

"I'm afraid so."

He cursed softly in the Snake tongue, the first time she had ever heard him use it, and then sat up, calling over his shirt,"And here was I, really comfortable"

"I know you were...but Rendelmar's back to functioning normally, so we both have to be up."

He groaned anyway, getting dressed quickly, making sure his cloak was still on the back of the door before making for the door, stopping to kiss her on the way,"See you later"

"Tonight."

He kissed her again,"Alright, see you then"

He left the room, heading for some morning workouts before the class

Rhenna heads out, as well.

He spent the time before class working out, mostly focusing and refining his techniques

Class that day was quick and focused, but not energy draining. It appeared that Vedt was expecting another attack soon...and with Renor still gone...

Cougar was worried about Snake Eaters. He couldn't help it... if Kajeenith was anything like he had read, he would go after the ones who had jumped to Kaymiril's aid... Snake Eaters was the only target left. It didn't affect his focus, and actually now his year away could be seen. His energy was much more focused, much more potent

Vedt watched. Such improvement...seemingly overnight...I know better than to truly believe it...I will have to speak to Rhenmet for the full explanation.

Cougar finished his session easily enough. It seemed as though he wasn't using anything as much energy as he used to... to those watching, it would have been extremely odd

Everyone notices, but no one mentions anything.

He didn't notice his own change... he'd grown used to it over the past 'year'. He just continued to work

After class, Shan caught up with him. "So, what were you up to, yesterday?"

"How do you mean?"

"Well, before we left, you had control, but now, the control is more focused. You use less energy to greater effect...according to Vedt's calculations, you should have taken two more years to reach that level, under his training."

Cougar considered this,"Vedt is not my only teacher, nor does he know all of my power. There are others who can teach me more in shorter space of time"

"But how much do you learn in a day, Cougar?"

"Time is not all it seems. They don't teach temporal mechanics here, or in SHADOW, but I find it helps to have some idea of what is going on"

"And now you've lost me."

Cougar switched on his holoemitters, which projected a simulated image of the surrounding area,"Here we are, in Rendelmar, right? Now, for us, time is forever moving forward, as it does everywhere. But we are used to the 60 seconds, 60 minutes, one hour et cetera. But, it is not the same flow of time everywhere. What you may percieve as five minutes could be almost a year in another... dimension if you will"

"Odd."

"Odd... yes. But it is fact. That is why I am more in control, more focused than every before"

"It would suck to be gone for a year, and not even be missed."

Cougar smiled... or so it seemed,"Yes... it does suck. Royally so"

"Ah well. Maybe you'll know better, next time."

"Maybe Shan... I already made her promise me that she would remind me not to go"

"True...and everyone knows that you better listen to Rhenna, or the consequences could be bad."

"Yes... very bad indeed. Just a question Shan... did everyone notice?"

"Yeah. Vedt's speaking to Rhenna right now, learning what you just told me."

"I thought he would... oh well, better people know than suspect me of foul-play"

"Foul-play? Learning magick isn't about foul or fair play...I mean, unless you sold your soul to some dark Power in exchange for more power/control or what not."

He laughed,"No... no selling of my soul"

"Okay, good. Rhenna'd kill you."

"I know she would... and dying is, contray to popular belief, not one of my aims in life"

"Contrary to very popular belief."

Cougar laughed,"Yes... I do give out that idea somewhat"

"Or a lot."

"Hey, I don't aim to get myself killed... I just learned to take calculated risks that could kill me"

"What's the difference?"

"One where I want to get killed, and one where I don't aim to get killed, but circumstances almost do kill me"

"Oh. You mean something like that?"

They had come to an intersection, and Shan guestured off to the right.

When Cougar looked, there was a creature that looked like it could have only come from someone's nightmare...or the bowels of Hell.

Instinct made Cougar go for a weapon first, then he found himself unarmed. He shook his head slightly,"That's pretty much it yeah, whats your point?"

The creature dissolved, and Shan shrugged.

J -- "Shan, you've got to be the stupidest guy in the world."

S -- "Nah...it worked for a second."

Cougar raised an eyebrow,"And the point of that was?"

J - "I thought Rhenna would have warned him."

S -- "Maybe she did, but he forgot." To Cougar -- "We're the practical joke artists around here. We hadn't pulled one on you yet."

"She did warn me... and that was offically the worst practical joke I have ever seen. It was convincing, I'll give you that... but then it kind of failed"

Jovin grinned. "As you'll see...it isn't over yet."

The two boys walk off.

Alright... time to fall back on training

Cougar was, for the rest of the day, in a constant state of alertness.

Nothing happened...but he kept getting some funny looks.

Alright... now I know they've done something

He teleported away, coming back into existence in the room. First port of call, the mirror

Apparently, as the spell had dissipated, it had marked Cougar. Now his face was 'painted' in the form of the face the monster had had...except where the monster was colored various shades of pink and purple, he was blue and green.

He smiled, then laughed, and scribed a note, sending it to Shan and Jovin,Well done. Very well done indeed

But he was still blue and green...quite a problem to solve.

Cougar couldn't wash it off, he knew that much. And he couldn't dispell it. So, he did the next best thing, taking his full sneaking suit and pulling the hood over his face, as it also doubled as a balaclava. He wasn't going anywhere

Rhenna comes in later, and looks at him strangely.

"James, why do you have that thing over your head?"

"When you have a blue and green face, you don't have much choice"

"Blue and green? What happened? Or should my question be: what did they do this time?"

The last sentence was said with a grin.

"If only I knew... let's just say this isn't the most attractive face at the moment"

"If I can't see it, I can't disspell it."

"Fine..."

He pulled the hood back, and shook his slightly longer hair out,"Happy now?"

She looks like she's trying hard not to laugh, then passed a hand over his face.

"There...you have your face back. Feel better?"

"Go ahead, laugh away"

She does, then kisses him. "I know...it never seems funny on the receiving end."

"You could say that much," he said grudingly, still kissing her regardless

"So, other than having Shan and Jovin pull their first prank on you, how has your day been?"

"I've had a variety of odd looks thrown my way all day. First off because of my seemingly impossible improvement in the space of fourty eight hours, and then the aforementioned prank. To put it in a nutshell, not all that great. You?"

She kisses him softly, sympathetically. "My day was fairly normal, by my standards."

He kissed her back, feeling her sympathy,"I remember when a day used to be normal to me... no more"

"Then tell me...what was a 'normal' day?"

"A day when I used to just go, practice my trade over and over until I could hit that target perfect, or break that code in a certain amount of time...simple"

"It doesn't sound that different from what we do here. Only we don't use bullets and computer codes."

"Not as much as I did, no. But that was normal to me... still, I traded it in for an adventure... and I got one"

"Or several."

"I was thinking of something in which I had no idea what the outcome was going to be"

His arms tightened slightly round her waist

She smiles. "That adventure...yes...a shared one."

He smiled, and kissed her again, just being soft and loving

She kissed him back, just as lovingly, letting it linger.

"I don't want to leave again too soon"

"I know you don't."

At that moment, the call for battle came. "But it looks like we both must. Five minutes to prepare for battle."

She kisses him, then gets up, and starts preparing.

"Ah, the sick irony of things," he chuckled blandly, grabbing all his equipment that he normally carried. He was ready to go in less than five minutes.

She prepared swiftly, and teleported him out when it was time.

OOC: Considering we're back here now, and also considering I missed somethings, I'm just going from what I knew last

IC: Leviathan looked at Aldur long and hard,"Definatley like his father... wait a minute... you weren't pregnant a month ago"

"Funny what Traveling back in time to a certain place does to a pregnancy. I was five weeks along before hand." Arianna said.

Costh, seeing that the medics were simply doing 'clean-up', decided to seek out Warfare and see how he was doing.

Leviathan smiled at the child, surprised to see him smiling back,"Have you taken him to see Warfare yet... that reminds me, I'd best go see him"

"well then, lets go." Arianna said. everything went hazy and indistinct, and suddenly they were in the room with Warfare.

"Leviathan, Arianna!, and, who's this little guy?" Warfare asked.

Arianna gently took Aldur from Leviathan.

"Warfare, meet your son, Aldur." Arianna said.

Warfare, despite his big strong warrior appearence, took his son with more gentleness than one might think, and simply held him close, not saying anything.

"Time and space were not his original domains. I don't know what were, but now its Time and space, must've been the trip." Warfare said informativly.

After a few more minutes, he simply laid his hand on Aldur's head, and said "Welcome to life, my son, may you find great riches and happiness on the road you take through the journey of life."

Costh managed to find Warfare's tent, but could tell that he had visitors, one being Arianna, the other he could place but not name and one he'd had no clue who it was. He decided to wait until he'd finished with his present guests.

"well then, lets go." Arianna said. everything went hazy and indistinct, and suddenly they were in the room with Warfare.

"Leviathan, Arianna!, and, who's this little guy?" Warfare asked.

Arianna gently took Aldur from Leviathan.

"Warfare, meet your son, Aldur." Arianna said.

Warfare, despite his big strong warrior appearence, took his son with more gentleness than one might think, and simply held him close, not saying anything.

"Time and space were not his original domains. I don't know what were, but now its Time and space, must've been the trip." Warfare said informativly.

After a few more minutes, he simply laid his hand on Aldur's head, and said "Welcome to life, my son, may you find great riches and happiness on the road you take through the journey of life."

"Leviathan, my friend, worry no more, I have no more enemies, I have destroyed, slain, or uncreated them all." Warfare said.

Warfare noticed Costh in the Halls of Mithdelmar.

"Costh! come on in, Meet my son, Aldur." Warfare said.

Costh walks in, "So this is your son? It's a pleasure to meet you." Costh says, addressing the child. "What is his name and I do believe congratulations are in order thought normally it's the mother who's in bed, not the father." Costh commented with a grin.

"Like he said, his name is Aldur." Arianna said.

"I missed that, sorry. It's good to see both of you are alright thought." Costh replied, "What are his areas?"

"Leviathan, my friend, worry no more, I have no more enemies, I have destroyed, slain, or uncreated them all." Warfare said.

Warfare noticed Costh in the Halls of Mithdelmar.

"Costh! come on in, Meet my son, Aldur." Warfare said.

Lucky you thought Leviathan. At least Warfare no longer had enemies... unfortunatley, the Pantheon of Chaos had taken an intense dislike to him and his nation.

"I worry not for you from deities.... mortals can also be dangerous. In a good way"
As he was talking, he looked at Costh, and thought to himself,Worst joke....EVER!

"During the battle with Kajeenith/his followers and the other dark gods, I went up a god who didn't speak, and when I defeated him, I recieved these, could you tell me what they are and what they do?" Costh asked as he pulled out the Three Charms of Charity from the Vault.

"Ahh you fought the dark God known as Greed. That's his name, surely you felt your own greed rising? Anyways, place those charms, all three of them together, in an area, or give them a person you want to recieve more charity, and it will. Like, if you left it here in Mithdelmar, its fortune would rise, meaning it would have much more luck curing any and all diseases, and would lose less patients, but thats alright, cause I'm convinced Mith can cure anything and everything under the sun." Warfare said.

The Many nation united under the bannner of War shall fall first. Watch well the outside for that is where it shall start.
