Cougar looked up,"Everything"

"That's rather a lot to think about at once."

"You'd be amazed... it's not everything per say, but everything about this whole situation"

"Still a lot. It's only a few more days, Cougar. And she'll be back, the same as ever."

"Easy for you to say. Tell me, Vedt, can you even show emotion anymore?""

"Yes. But to let my grief show now would be crippling. She's been my closest friend practically since I could walk."

He smiled thinly,"How long have you loved her?"

"Loved her as a part of my family, or loved her as you do?"

"As I do... I'm not that blind, you know"

The mage shrugs. "A century, a century and a half. However, I could have never had the sort of relationship you have with her. We both knew this...and you have known it for a decade. I don't begrudge either of you your marriage, believe me or not, as you will. Aside from that...you've been a good husband to her."

Cougar smiled,"At least you're honest. I knew from the outset, but I also knew why you couldn't do anything. I decided to make amends as best I could from about a year in... I've not been all that great. I've put her through too much"

"You've never died on her."

"I've come close enough on many occasions."

"As has she. The time I saw her the most worried about you, I think, was about eight years ago now...little more...you'd lost your memory, and she didn't know where you were...just that you were in trouble. Couldn't focus for anything."

"I later found out it was my 'dear' brother once again... but that is all said and done, and this is the here and now. Another 36 hours of travel, and we should be about there"

"Make sure and get at least eight hours worth of sleep between now and then, Cougar."

He nodded,"I'll have to use the dream suppressent again... it's been a while. If you're alright here, I'll try and get some now"

He went to the bunks, gave himself the injection, and crashed out. He would be out twenty four hours.

Eldrad looked sadly back,"That mans life is fraught with difficulty... he will never know a normal life"

V -- "The only one of us here that might is you, Eldrad."

"I have walked this universe for almost six hundred years, Vedt. I have seen things that would baffle you. I came from Ulthwe craftworld, the most martial of all the remaining Eldar. After the Fall, when many were killed by the demon we brought into this universe... Slannesh was the result of my race becoming too greedy, no longer caring about others, treating the universe like our playground. Then, the Fall. Now, we are a scattered race... I am a Farseer of the Black Guardians. We are more scattered than ever... and I have chosen to help Snake Eaters defend against the threat we caused. I have not led anything even resembling a normal life"

V -- "Note that I said might. I really don't know you."

Eldrad nodded,"No one does... that is my advantage... he will wake up on his anniversary..."

"And she will not. If he should forget, circumstances being what they are, it would probably be best to not remind him."

"I doubt he'll remember... the stress and the fear and the sorrow is clouding his vision."

*24 Hours later*
Cougar rose from his sleep, and went to the main pilot's chair. He sat down, checked their position, and then went to get a bite to eat. He hadn't noticed the date.

V -- Twelve more hours...sixteen, and the day will be over.

Cougar went through the rest of the day, not noticing much. Midnight came and went, and he carried on as usual. The others had tried to act normal, but he wasn't noticing much anymore. It had been four days since Rhenna had died, and he was entering the stage at which he stopped caring about anything.

They eventually arrived at coordinates. Eldard nodded, and took the controls from him. He dived towards the area, and asked Leviathan to help him. Together, they broke through the barrier between dimensions, and dived down, down... into the abyss of Hell.

Mith hands out masks.

"This will allow you to breathe in Hell's atmosphere. Since this looks like mountainous terrain, and the shuttle cannot long tolerate flight in this atmosphere, it looks like we've got something of a walk ahead of us."

C -- "Agreed... the temperature would build too high, and comprimise the integrity"

The Snake Eaters all put their masks on, and Watt picked up his rifle, it being the only weapon he had. The others carried blades, and Cougar also carried his pistol. Eldrad led the group from the craft, and seemed to do nothing, before motioning to the North,"This way"

OOC: I'm sorry, Balrogga. I'd def have wanted you in this (warlord of Hell and all...) but I don't know when/if you'll ever be on this time of year.

V -- "We are very much subject to demonic attack here. Be wary."

The group closed up slightly, to avoid being attack as single entities. Cougar in particular was on edge.

V -- "Relax some, Cougar. The only being that would be better to have in this situation than Mith is Galvenor."

L -- "It's hard to get hold of him these days"

E -- "No wonder... but still, his prescense would be most welcome"

W -- "How much further?"

E -- "Three, maybe four hours walk. It is in a remote mountain pass... it will involve some sheer climbs. We want to use as little magick as possible, so as not to attract attention"

It was on one of these steep climbs when a horde of winged demons (http://sandall.us/~sandalle/img/add/pics/demon.jpg) attacked them.

V -- "These are so irritating." He used his glider as a sword, stabbing through one while trying to maintain his hold.

Mith was more successful. He grabbed something out of his pocket and chanted something.

A white light shone out of the orb, disintegrating whatever demons it touched.

Leviathan, Eldrad and Cougar were slicing apart demons wherever they moved, whilst Watt was holding them at bay with mana rounds. It was the best he could do in this situation, and it was proving effective. Putting bullet holes through wings proved most effective at grounding the creatures, then finishing them off was a simple matter.

The battle lasted several minutes.

V -- "Anyone hurt?"

He needn't have asked. Blood was starting to drench Mith's robes, and the Gray Class Master's grip faltered on the stone, and he began to fall.

Vedt decides that now is a good time to ignore Eldrad's advice about magick, and teleports down, catching the Gray figure, before teleporting up to the nearest ledge.

The whole group moved up to join him, clambering up the rocks to get there. Eldrad was first over, moving quickly over to the Grey Class master,"How bad is it?"

Vedt, at that moment, pulled a claw out of Mith's abdomen.

"I'd say pretty bad."

M -- "Just bind the wound. I'll take care of the rest myself."

Vedt did as he was bid, as quickly and thoroughly as he could.

Mith then took a deep breath, and a spell ran through him, dealing with the poison.

"Clear the blood, Vedt. It will only attract them."

The Black Class Mage did so, and Mith started to stand.

"We must go now, before another attack."

Cougar nodded, and took point with Watt. The two men were similar in gait and build, but Cougar held himself differently. These two were scanning the area in front, Eldrad just behind them, directing them down certain paths. Leviathan brought up the rear, a kind of heavy support if you will.

Mith, slightly weakened from loss of blood, was in the center, and Vedt stayed in front of Leviathan, while keeping a watch for anything else that might come.

Eldrad eventually called a halt. In front of them, stretching away, was a path that should not have existed. Jagged and crumbled, it stretched away. It was narrow, only one abreast at best,"We must cross this"

V -- "Right. I'll go first. Watt...should stay behind Mith."

He moved toward the front.

Eldrad followed Vedt, Cougar falling into line. Watt moved behind Mith, to watch the mage, and Leviathan stayed at the back.

Vedt led the way through. Although there was the occasional attack, demons and thier ilk had become quite common over the past decade or so, for some reason.

Vedt was reasonably sure that Leviathan was holding his own in the rear, though they were occasionally being attacked from behind.

Leviathan had no trouble defending their rear, whilst Cougar and Watt defended the flanks. Eldrad was severly handicapped, for the Warp did not exist here. He could use necromantic magick, and he did have his necro- and clairvoyance to aid them. As it was, he could tell them when an attack was approaching.

Mith, with his form of magick, was able to make up for Eldrad's handicap.

Even so, he was glad that there was a god there...otherwise, they'd probably have tasted defeat within the first few minutes.

Eldrad directed them towards their final objective, which was about another hours hard march ahead. They would eventually come to a mountain. They would have to climb the mountain for a way, before actually coming upon the pass. At the very end of that pass, would be a single Death's Hand... so long as the dead were telling him the truth.

V -- "Why are we going to a mountain when Death said they grow on the plains?"

E -- "This is Hell. Things are not always as they seem"

Vedt shrugs. He would have thought that Death would be familiar enough with Hell to tell them where it grew...but they could try this. It would, at best, wear Mith down to nothing and get them the spell component they needed.

It would, at worst, wear Mith down to nothing and leave them with a long walk to the plains.

Cougar went up the cliff face first, moving lithly and quickly. He came to the top of the cliff, and pulled himself over the top. There was a quick gasp, which was then subdued,"Vedt... you might want to look at this"

Vedt pulled himself up over the top of the cliff, next to Cougar, and looked out.

C -- "Obviously, the definition of 'plain' and 'pass' is blurred here.

The 'pass' was huge... the sides of the mountain could barely be seen in the far distance. It may as well have been a plain.

V -- "That's the first bit of good news I've heard since we got here."

C -- "It's the second piece of good news I've heard in a week"

He helped Eldrad up the final part of the cliff, who then let out a low whistle, and then turned serious,"Let's get this flower and get the hell out of here... it's basically the last thing we need"

L -- They don't seem to realise her soul must also be reclaimed from wherever it is... that will be dangerous

Vedt helps Mith up the rest of the way, and the Gray Class master looks ahead.

"I see it. I also see that getting to it will be more difficult than we had first thought."

Watt cupped his hands around his eyes, and looked,"Why?"

"You notice how the grass sways in the wind? Even though there is no wind? Also...those blades of grass...are best described as blades."

"So, we've got things in the razor sharp grass... *dryly*fun"

V -- "Cougar...can you burn away the grass, being very careful to avoid that black speck?"

Cougar nodded,"Leviathan, give me a hand"

Working together, they burnt away the razor grass, with Leviathan placing a shield around the flower to prevent Cougar from accidently harming the vital plant. When it was done, they both powered down, and looked at Vedt,"There you go"

Cougar looked at D'anthe, who had not left him since Rhenna had died. He was Cougar's property now... and would remain so until Rhenna returned,"D'anthe, look after Watt for me... help him out if he needs it"

D'anthe removed himself to the other human's shoulder.

V -- "Now, those spiny creatures are weak demons. I can get the plant...but not with those things all over me."

He moves to go get the plant.

E -- "Point taken. Col. Tyler, stay with Mith. He is still weak, despite what he says. Leviathan, Cougar, come with me. We shall make sure Vedt gets to that plant"

Watt shouldered his weapon, slightly uncomfortable with the raven on his shoulder, but not complaining. Cougar drew his weapon, and fired a round at the nearest demon. It exploded as it was hit, and then the three of them were fighting huge numbers each. It had the desired effect though.

Vedt got to the Death's Hand, and plucked the flower part with infinite care. He sealed it in a globe, within the hellish air that it was accustomed to. He then started back towards Mith.

"Pull back everyone." I can teleport everyone out of here and back to the shuttle as soon as they get here.

C -- "You heard the man, fall back"

The three fighters fell back together, covering the others whilst they did so. They made it quickly, the demons being held off by Cougar and Watt, using what they knew best. Hot lead.

As soon as they'd gotten within five feet of him, Vedt teleported the entire group back into the shuttle.

Cougar almost threw himself into the pilots seat, calling,"D'anthe, come here"

He tapped a few controls, and activated the weapons as well as the engines. It paid to be cautious. He headed skyward, aiming for the same point of entry as before.

The raven lands on Cougar's head.

What?

"On the shoulder, D'anthe, or around the wrist, I don't mind. Just get off my head"

As he was speaking, the craft tore back into the normal dimension that they knew well. As they entered, Eldrad motioned,"Head here"

C -- "Theres nothing there"

E -- "Trust me"

Cougar shrugged, and flew the craft towards it. A blue horizon seemed to open before them, leading into a tunnel,"What is that?"

E -- "The Webway. I only just sensed it... we can be home in twelve hours this way"

C -- "Then I'm taking it"

L -- "The ride should be smoother this way as well"

D'anthe settled on Cougar's shoulder.

Meanwhile, Vedt was (ironically) running a rudimentary medical examination on Mith.

"I'll take him back to Mithdelmar. There seems to be at least some of the claw-tip still in him...which means the venom, as well."

E -- "I wouldn't recommend teleporting now... the effects of faster than light travel and teleportation are completley unknown. I shall give you a hand, see if we can't fix him up for the moment"

"I don't think it matters incredibly much where I am...just where I'm going."

Eldrad nodded,"It's your decision. I happen to share your concensus, but I've never seen fit to test it. We'll be back in about 12 hours. Take the flower as well"

Vedt took the sphere which contained the flower and Mith, then teleported the Gray Class master to a place were the other members of his class could help him.

He then went back to Rendelmar, placing the flower by Rhenna's body.

"You'll be back with us soon enough, old friend."

As the days had progressed, she'd started to look slightly more like a corpse, with the hollow eyes and cheeks. Still...she'd looked more dead when Nurgle's Rot was consuming her than she did now, in true death.

Vedt left her. There was little more for him to do, so he rested and went back to teaching what little he could.

Focus was loose...and there was no doubt as to why. Vedt couldn't do anything about it...wouldn't...he would let them grieve, for now.

They were back quicker than expected.Cougar took Watt home, whilst the others returned to wherever they lived. Cougar then returned to Rendelmar, and went to see the body. Even though she had begun to become more corpse like, he walked quietly over,"Soon, love... soon"

Death entered.

"Get some rest, Cougar. Then call for me when you are ready to seek out her soul."

He shook his head,"I slept on the way back... Eldrad gave me a soulstone to seal it away until I can... and he also unlocked my necrovoyiant powers, at least a little bit. I can go now"

"Very well then. Prepare yourself."

Everything went black.

First there was heat, then cold. When the world became visible again, they were standing before a faintly glowing mist.

"She's in there, somewhere."

He drew the coat round him slightly, and made sure it was done up,"Out there... D'anthe, glider form. We'll cover it faster"

The glider protested about having to go in there, but he obeyed.

"You think I like this either? I want her back as much as you do, and everyone else... but doing this scares the s**t out of me. Let's go."

He skimmed across the top, his enhanced vision trying to spot her in the masses.

Most that were there went about their business, but one looked at Cougar curiously.

He tailed the human and glider for a few minutes, before stepping out in front of them.

"Who are you? And what are you? No one's ever come in here that looks like you."

OOC: Everyone is ghostly and pale

The young man...barely older than a boy, had slightly pointed ears, but was close enough to Cougar in facial structure to suggest a relationship.

Cougar knew instantly who this was. It was his own son... at least, the spirit of his own son. Dead of eight years... he had never even seen the child, for Rhenna had only been a month pregnant.

He swallowed,"My name... my name is James. I'm a human... my wife died recently, and I was given a chance to bring her back to life. So, I need to find her soul"

"Life? What's life? And how long ago did she come here?"

"Life is what comes before death... you are a spirit of someone who died some time ago. She came here... about eight days ago, almost nine"

"I can pretty much say that I never experienced something like that. Sounds weird. But she's new...she'd probably be in the back somewhere. When they first get here, they don't know anything...sometimes, though, you'll hear someone talking about who they were. But not for a while. I can take you to where she might be, if you like."

"You may think it's weird, but to me, this is weird," said James, smiling slightly, for the boy was a bit like himself in that respect,"And please, could you take me there"

"This way."

The boy led him through the throngs of people, who were apparently as 'solid' to him as they weren't to Cougar.

Eventually, they come to a section that is obviously different.

"Here they are...we don't come here much. Some of them are waiting for something...others don't know where they're going...and still others know nothing. I hope you find her."

"Many thanks. I hope I find her too"

Cougar watched his son leave, then shook his head,Great... there is no way I'm sleeping tonight

He set off, searching once more for whatever was left of his wife. There was no way she would remember him... this was going to be more difficult than he thought.

There were many souls there...amazing, with so many intelligent beings in the universe, how many could die in just one month.

Eventually, he starts getting to creatures from systems he recognises.

He finally runs into the recently dead of Snake Eaters.

So many dead... too many

He saw people he actually recognised, people he had served with, met on his travels. But still, he kept going.

A little while later, he starts finding Kaymirilian Drow.

Thus far, everything's been set up in the order of the galaxy, as he's seen it.

He stopped where he was, seeing the pattern... it was like the universe. All over again, but with dead spirits as opposed to actual planets and people.

"D'anthe, pull up. She's got to be close..."

The glider slowed. There were some Mithdelmar natives that had died.

The nearest city to Mithdelmar was Che'el...and directly under that...

...was Rendelmar. He knew where he was now... and there she was. Ghostly and grey, but still, it was Rhenna. Or as close as he was going to get,"D'anthe, down. She's right there"

The glider took him through other souls, until he was standing face to 'face' with her.

She seemed to come out of some sort of daze, and looked at him.

"D'anthe, shoulder"

He looked back at her,"Do you know who you are?"

She looked confused by the question.

"Who are you?"

The sound of her saying that shot ice through his heart, but he appeared unphased,"I'm... I'm a friend. You're not meant to be here, Rhenmet"

"Rhenmet? No...that was...a long time ago..."

"A long time? It was barely a week ago.... can't you remember anything?"

She thinks for a few minutes. Did she remember anything? Anything beyond this place...Rhenmet...she'd been...but why...who'd called her that?

"Renor. Who is Renor?"

"Renor is your master... the closest thing to a father you ever had."

She looks at him...actually looking at him for the first time since he'd gotten there.

"Human..."

But this wasn't just a human...

His heart skipped a beat,"Yes, I'm human. Do you remember anything else?"

She reached out to touch his face, the hands cold and barely tangible.

"A jungle planet..."

We took a walk...

"And you said..."

A hundred thousand things came back to her at once. Kaelis Ra, their first kiss, Tellryon, their wedding day, life in Rendelmar before she'd met him, how she met him.

For a moment, she just 'stood' there.

"James...Cougar."

His eyes closed slightly as her hands touched him, as cold as they were. When he heard her say his name, he almost burst out crying, but he didn't. Instead, he smiled,"Yes. That's me. Do you remember now, Rhenna?"

"Yes, I remember...but why are you here, James? You aren't dead yet, too...why are you here?"

"Aras gave me a chance to take you home... we want you back. I can take you home right now... of course, it's your decision."

His hand brought the soulstone out his pocket, the sapphire in his ring glinting in the dim light.

She looked at him for a minute. Go back? This was unheard of...and yet...

"Yes...I'll go back."

He breathed a sigh of relief, and placed the stone before her,"This may feel a little weird"

He chanted as he knew he must, taking her soul into the stone. It glowed as she entered it, and he tucked it into his chest pocket, next to the wedding photo (restored over the years),"Aras, get me out of here"

Everything faded to black...and then he was standing in the room again, no sign that he'd gone anywhere...save for the stone in his breast pocket.

Mith was standing there beside her body, sealing the hole over Tellryon's heart. It had been changed so that it would be an adequate substitute for Rhenna's heart. Iliyakim's blood, which had a live focus, had been put into the heart. A few spells later, and the corpse was breathing, with a heartbeat. Death, who had been binding Rhenna's life-thread back together with three of the spider silk strands, took a moment to drain the last traces of death from her with the Death's Hand.

When she'd finished binding the thread back together, she put it into Rhenna, somehow. The soulstones activated, and both souls started running through her body. This would make it easier for her own soul to enter her.

A -- "Now all she needs is her soul back, to live truly, Cougar."

He simply placed his hand over the stone, and uttered one word,"Live"

Her soul was released, and made it's way inside her body.

She stirred slightly, her face twitching the way it always did when she was trying to wake up, unsuccessfully. The soulstones went dark, and the souls ceased their circuit.

And gradually, he began to feel her returning...as though the part of his mind that had been ripped out at her death was coming back to him. It was faint...but it was there.

Her eyes opened. Everything was blurry...gray, with bits of color.

She focused on the nearest one, and the image began to clear slowly.

"James?" A slight smile touched her face.

She was back.

He grasped the hand nearest to him, and squeezed it gently,"Yes, Rhenna, I'm here... we're all here. Welcome home"

The emotion in his voice threatened to crack him, but he resisted... it was a code with him, not to break down in front of others.

Her hand was colder than it had ever been, but warmth began spreading through it.

M -- "I doubt she'll have gained enough tupora fashka to walk until a full day has passed. After that, give her something to eat. Until then...find a way to counteract hypothermia."

Death had already left, and then, Mith did, too.

Rhenna's hand gripped his slightly.

"How long was I gone, James?"

Arianna smiled, amd pointed at Anna. She was enveloped in a Crystal, which faded away, taking her with it.

Arianna then turned to keeping an eye on Aris.

Anna would find herself standing on a small crystal platform. She could feel Warfare on the Largest. A series of Pathways, domes, and platforms connected her to Warfare, though the path was long and windy.

Along the way, she would see pictures of herself, Dora, Kaymiril VI, Arianna, Gypsy, Aldur, Kajeenith, Yore, Warfare, and a Picture, that obviously contained a picture, but the being within was so complex and of such a higher nature, a being so big and immense as to simply make Huge a Profound understatement, that all Anna could see, was a dense void of nothing, true nothing. Beneath it was the inscription "The Nameless One."

Warfare would call out when His Mother approached his Platform "So, have you come to turn on me as well, Mommy dearest?"

Her hand was colder than it had ever been, but warmth began spreading through it.

M -- "I doubt she'll have gained enough tupora fashka to walk until a full day has passed. After that, give her something to eat. Until then...find a way to counteract hypothermia."

Death had already left, and then, Mith did, too.

Rhenna's hand gripped his slightly.

"How long was I gone, James?"

"Eight days... nearly nine... the worst eight days of my life"

"If by "turn on you" you mean straighten you out, yes. You've been behaving like a child...worse than a child. From what little I've heard recently, I'm quite ashamed of you...and quite ashamed of being your mother. I thought you were strong...but all I see is a weakling, sitting in his chair, looking at his shiny objects and snapping out at any and everyone dear to him that would come and help him."

"Eight days... nearly nine... the worst eight days of my life"
"That long...It was so sudden...I didn't even see it coming."

"I noticed that much... if it wasn''t for Aras, it would have been final. Being on first name terms with Death has it's advantages"

"I've no doubts."

He smiled slightly, and teleported her back to their bedroom. He laid her in the bed, making sure she was warm, and then conjured a glass of water,"Nothing but this stuff for the next twenty-four hours. You can't walk, so I'll be here"

Leviathan approached Death,"Why'd you do it, Aras? Why did you make that harder than it should have been?"

She smiles at him. "You don't have to be here the whole time. I'm not going anywhere, as you know."

"Leviathan, that was the easiest I could possibly have made that journey...and easier than it should have been, by the rules I must live by now. If it had been but one life I was trying to give back, I'd merely have required a heart and her soul, and something to bind the thread with."

He kissed her forehead,"You stayed when I was comatose six months ago... you've just come back from the dead. I'm not going anywhere. Although, you might want D'anthe back... how you live with him is amazing... he's officially been mine for eight days"

She smiles slightly. "You two have never quite managed to get along." She hugs him gently, her forehead pressing against his neck. "I don't see how you put up with me, when I put you through so much pain."

"Warfare's spell did add a factor of complexity...but nothing that was not easily overcome at this end."

He held her close,"Nothing, and I mean nothing, would have changed my mind on this. The pain was bad... and although the grief was public, I bore it alone. The one thing that drove me, was getting you back. And I didn't care what I had to do to manage it"

"Is there something else, then?"

"You've always been strong."

"That would be the easiest way of saying it, yes. Do not worry...all will be revealed...in time."

"I'm not strong... I just pretend to be. You know that... it's something I have to keep up"

Leviathan nodded,"Alright. Now, I must go to the Council... if Kaymiril VII cannot sort her son out, I will do it"

"No, you don't. You don't have to be anything other than what you are." Her eyes close...what energy she has, she's losing fast.

"Ah, yes...little Anna grows very frustrated with Warfare. You are his friend, dalhar. She is his mother. I've no doubts she'll manage to have an effect to the positive, as far as he is concerned."

He smiles, and kisses her again,"I'm your husband, that's the only thing that truly matters. Go to sleep, I'll see you when you wake up"

"Don't get me wrong, I have every confidance in her, as a mother... still, he has become uncooperative to anyone related... maybe it would take an outside observer to show him what is truly happening. Let us hope that it doesn't come to that"

She kisses him back and nods. She drifts off to sleep sitting up, relunctant to move away from him.

"Yes...by all means, do that."

He kissed her back, and held her until she was asleep. He then laid her back down, kissed her forehead, and went to have a shower. He came out, ten minutes later, and sat on the edge of the bed, looking at her. As he did, the tears started to flow. But they weren't tears of sorrow, but of relief. Finally, when they were alone, and she was safe, he could let it all out. No one would ever really know... but that was the way he wanted it. He sat close to her, and started to catch up on things... he'd fallen out of touch with that world.

He then vanished, returning to the Council. He knew that Anna was seeing Warfare, and so he went to find Gypsy and/or Arianna.

Rhenna woke up a few hours later.

"D'anthe, what's today?"

At the answer, she pushes herself up into a sitting position.

"Ten years...three days ago."

He looked over from where he was sorting something out,"Yes, three days ago... I only realised earlier"

She smiles slightly. "How are you feeling, anyway?"

"I've been alright. Coping. You've had vistors... Shan, Tari, a few of the others, Vedt also dropped by earlier."

She laughs slightly. "It would have been better to have stayed awake. I hope they know that I will be back the day after tomorrow."

"The kids are looking forward to it, as is Vedt. You've been sleeping soundly for a few hours. Have a drink, you need it"

She takes the drink and starts sipping at it. She then looks at him and smiles. "This has become a way of life for you, hasn't it?"

"What do you mean?"

He sat on the edge of the bed, close by.

"Taking care of others. You do it for your team, you do it for me..."

He smiled,"I've always done it... it's what I do. Plus, I want to look after you"

She reaches out to touch his face...very much like she'd done right before he brought her back.

"You always have been there when I woke up...even before we were married."

He leaned into her hand, holding it there with his own.

"I had to prove to you somehow that I was serious, didn't I?"

She smiles. "True enough. You managed that well enough, though."

"I obviously did something right, didn't I... I'll be honest with you, I cried after you went to sleep."

She leans over to kiss him softly. "It's been a long week for you."

He kissed her back, just as softly,"Too long... I thought I was never going to see you again... the worst part was when I had to get your soul back"

"I didn't remember you...I didn't remember anything."

"I know... you did eventually though. It took time, but I reminded you... you have no idea how happy I was when you said you'd come back... even more so when you finally woke up"

He'd stayed close, and his voice was low.

"I think, that after death, that's what happens. Too much longer...and I wouldn't have even been me anymore."

"Then, I got there just in time... I was so scared"

She hugs him gently, and starts runing her fingers through his hair...familiar movements, reassuring ones.

"I know you were...but it's over now."

He hugged her back, and sighed slightly,"I know... hold on, aren't you meant to be the one resting and being reassured... this is an odd turnaround of events"

"My death was harder on you than it was on me...I barely remember anything of it...you, on the other hand..."

"... that feeling... of being truly alone. Just pray, fervently, you never have to expierence that"

She gently rubs his shoulder. "I do, James. Every time you go out."

Everything began to catch up on him. The exhaustion, the sorrow, all the bottled up emotions. He just sat there, letting her hug and rub his shoulders, his arms round her,his head resting against hers, and he gradually began to fall asleep. It was doubtful he would be able to sleep, but still, the fact he had slept about 30 hours out of over 100 was not something that went down well with human anatomy, even his

She eased him down so that he could sleep more easily, and stayed there, right next to him. She was actually back asleep before he'd fallen asleep.

He slept for a while, comfortable next to her. He woke up about six hours later, his nanites having worked overtime to help his body recover. He could have gone the full ninety hours, maybe even more, and not stopped. He smiled as he saw her next to him, and lay there, watching her sleep.

She continued to sleep for a few more hours...

A week later, she had completely recovered, and she went around Rendelmar like nothing had ever happened.

He kept half an eye on her, but he knew how she worked. He, on the other hand, despite her being fine, was having a little difficulty focusing still. It wasn't all that bad, but it was enough to force him to drop out for a day or so, and get his head sorted. After that, he was back to normal, also acting as if nothing had ever happened.

And the days pass...

Another week went by, and Cougar recieved a message from Central HQ... another job. Not too big, not too tough. He had a day to be there, and then would be gone about a week. He'd finished class, Vedt not knowing that he'd gotten the message in the middle of it all, and then returned to the room, checking all his kit was in good working order.

Rhenna gets back to the room at about eleven. She looks at his equipment, ready to go.

"Do you know about how long you'll be gone?"

He looked up from cleaning his rifle, which had needed it after he'd tested it on the range,"About a week, maybe less, all told"

She nods.

"Get some sleep tonight, then...and take care of yourself." She leans down to give him a kiss, before going to shower and get some sleep herself.

He kissed her back, and was asleep before she got back. He was really getting some serious sleep in before this one... as it looked doubtful he would be sleeping much the next few days.

She wakes up fairly early, and sits up. There's some work she has to get done...she'd see him again before he left.

As she stood, a rush of vertigo hit her, and she fell back onto the bed. She caught herself on her elbows, preventing her from bruising James before he went off. She let her head ease back onto his stomach.

Don't move Cougar...just not yet.

The jolt was enough to wake him, and he almost moved into a combat position. Instead, he opened his eyes, and looked at her,"I've heard of wake up calls, but isn't there something that doesn't make me feel the need to draw a weapon?"

"Give me a minutes for the room to stop spinning, and then I mgiht be able to get to your question...until then, don't move."

He put his hand on her arm,"Something wrong?"

She made a slight movement as he reached out to touch her.

"No...don't...touch me."

She sits up after a few minutes. "That was odd."

He stopped about an inch away, and then moved his hand back, slightly hurt and not understanding why, but still..."You're telling me"

She smiles slightly and takes his hand.

"It's over now...I don't think I've ever been that dizzy in my entire life."

He smiled slightly as she took his hand... it seemed to make up for the earlier comment,"Maybe you should get checked over at some stage today"

She nods. "I don't know what might be wrong, unless I picked up something a couple of weeks ago. I have a class this morning, but I should know what's up, if anything, before it's time for you to go."

"I'm leaving here about three-ish... much later, and I'll miss the briefing"

She nods, and kisses him softly. "Try getting some more sleep, James...you wouldn't have woken yet if I hadn't woken you."

He nodded, and rolled over to get some more sleep. He also wanted to zero his rifles sights again, but that would only take a half hour, and the new barrel could take it.

She goes, first to get that work done, then to teach her class.

He rose, not having a class that day, a little later. By force of habit, he checked his kit a final time, and then went to check his weapons one more time, and zero the sights so he could aim well. Neither his rifle nor his pistol gave him any trouble, and he was headed back to the room at about two in the afternoon, to spend a short bust lying down, getting as much rest as he could.

Rhenna gets back about half an hour later, and seeing him there, went and laid down next to him. She put one arm anround him and hugged him tightly.

"Take care of yourself out there, James."

"I plan on it... did you get yourself checked out?"

"Yes." She looks up at him and gives him a sort of smile, laced with worry and agitation. "Partially why I just said that...my life is no longer the only one forfiet if yours is lost."

He sat up quickly, looking at her,"Let me just check I heard you right... theres another life at stake here?"

She nods, putting her head back on his chest. "I'm pregnant. She ran every test she could think of on me, before she thought of that one...after all...I was dead just two weeks ago."

He put his arms around her, and hugged her,"That explains something Leviathan mentioned to me... how far along are you?"

There was so many conflicting emotions within, she could feel that. Worry for her, joy that she was pregnant, the list goes on.

"Over a month...almost two."

Eight months... give or take a week or so

He held her close,"This gives me another reason to come back safe"

She nods. "I'll tell Renor, after you leave today. Looks like I'm not going anywhere for almost a year."

He kissed her softly,"I'm sure you'll get used to it... now, despite this fantastic news, I have to go and do what I'm good at. I'll be back in a week"

He rose, and slung his kit about his shoulders, and then slung the rifle across his back,"See you soon"

She kissed him back, and sat up as he stood.

"Just come back in one piece."

He smiled,"As far as possible, sure"

He teleported back to Snake Eaters, and knuckled down to work. His good mood was infectious, and they were in high spirits. At the end of the mission, they sat him down, and asked,"What are you so happy about, other than Rhenna being alive?"

C -- *Pauses*

K -- "C'mon man, out with it!"

C -- "I'm going to be a father"

Silence. Stunned silence. Followed by whooping, congratulations, and a myriad of questions. He answered as much as he could, and then, after spending the night with his friend, returned home. It was about eight in the evening in Rendelmar when he finally got home. He headed straight for the shower, and then collapsed into bed...

Warfare looked at Anna.

"Then you don't know. Its coming, The End of everything comes soon." He said rocking miserably.

"That's an awfully pessimistic view. You've been in here too long. Come on...you're coming with me, out of this hole, and then you're going to apologise to your wife and to your daughter."

"You don't understand. Then again, you've never heard of The Nameless One, have you?" Warfare asked.

OOC: And she wouldn't of, he/it's a secret kept by the oldest of Gods. Not even Leviathan would know.

"No, and I can honestly tell you I don't care. It's a hurdle we'll deal with when it comes. And for now, you aren't making anything any better. And since you do not seem inclined to listen..."

She grabs ahold of Warfare's shirt/armor and starts dragging him out.

"I'll take you by force."

Warfare simply gives up. No one wants to listen, so maybe he'll let himself get dragged out, to Gaia's Garden.

Gaia's Garden was an unimaginably huge Garden. Instead of being taller than everything except trees, Mushrooms towered over Giants. This was easily understandible when one learned that Gaia's Garden was at least two or three million years old and just kept growing.

Anna would find the only door out of The Crystal World, and would find herself face to Stalk with a large wild mushroom. It was white, and for all intents and purposes, a normal edible wild mushroom.

All around, Grass blades soared away into the Green Sky, only it wasn't Green, it was really the tops of trees. Bushes stood like mountains.

An army ant marched around nearby protecting its hill.

Both Anna and Warfare could feel Gaia, the spirit of Nature herself some distance away to the north.

Meanwhile back on Riptide...

As Leviathan was looking for Gypsy or Arianna, a little voice shouted out "Uncle Levi!" and little Aldur came running out to give his uncle a hug.

Gypsy's tent was straight ahead, and so was Aldur.

A rug, a recent new addition was on Gypsy's tent. The Borders of the Rug, were black and white, designed to look like Black Flame. Then, making a giant square was a thin Gold line, and inside this giant box, was a picture of Leviathan, standing on a random plain somewhere, looking majestic and powerful. He was pictured in common clothes, but had his sword in one hand, a drink in the other.

"Hello Leviathan." Gypsy's sweet voice called out from inside.

Leviathan could see inside, and currently she was weaving on the Tapestry of Fate, a daily Job requiring at least four or five hours of work. Currently, she was on the section for Kaymiril. She looked like she was getting ready to enter recently born Kaymirilian's into the Tapestry,

Leviathan smiled, and picked his little 'nephew' up,"Hello there, little one... my, you are getting big aren't you. Let's go see your sister"

He took a moment to admire the latest rug, enjoying the likeness to himself... it was good, no doubt. He carried Aldur over to the entrance, and looked inside,"Hey Gypsy... how's he doing?"

Warfare simply gives up. No one wants to listen, so maybe he'll let himself get dragged out, to Gaia's garden.

So Anna turns north and keeps dragging Warfare. After all...if anyone could cure him, why not her.

"Why hello Warfare, and Queen Kaymiril. What brings you two to my Garden?

Kaymiril sets Warfare down on a mushroom stump or on the ground, like a child or puppy. Her arm was numb from dragging a weight greater than her own, but she didn't allow that to show.

"Mainly it was the only exit from his little hidey-hole. He's been more than a little on the odd side, lately...something about losing his powers, but I'd like to have thought I raised him better than to intentionally drive away the ones that cared for him most."

"Losing his powers, my my. I wish I could help, but that's not me. Beldragos can, but from what I understand, Warfare has to go to him, not the other way. In the mean time, I do kinda sympathise with him, all things considered, but enough is enough at some point." Gaia said.

The origional member who started this Thread answered that question about 9000 posts ago. Just because the tower is white, does not mean it was taken from the Wheel of Time. He chose white because the color is associated with Power.

If you want to join in you are welcome to. The current story is taking place elsewhere but there are people waiting at the tower including my character Galvenor.

We also have an offsite forum set up as a school. You are also welcome to join that as well.

This White Tower is based upon power, but no doubt draws many references from Wheel of Time and also from Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy Battle. NAME had heard of the Tower of Hoeth, and had come to further his/her magickal talents. As s/he brushed his/her COLOUR hair back s/he sighted the tower.

Arriving at the gates NAME straightened his/her clothes, blinked his/her COLOUR eyes and knocked on the gate.

OOC: Piekrom decides one day that hemight want to progress his training in the craft they call magic. Having heard about the White Tower from a town square anouncement he decides to travel and see what awaits him.

He comes up to the Tower and knocks on the door with his scared hands from many battles. He stands waiting anxious wondering what he will learn to add on to his exceptional skill in both swoardsmanship and battle with a quarter staff. He also hopes that his strange yellow and grey eyes that never blink or close and silver hair (not the old type mind you) will not stand out to much.

"Take the dark crystal to the six crystals of light the dwell within The Crystal World. Hurry, before the Dark future happens." He says with a last Gasp, then dies on the table, and fades away to nothing. Ancient Aldur has ceased to exist. All that's left, is a single solitary Crystal, glowing Blacker than the Blackest night. It's slightly bigger than a Male Drow's hand.

Young Aldur looked at Gypsy and Leviathan in a funny manner.

"I just died." He said with the oddest look of puzzlement on his face.

"Ah yes, the cure is nearly here." Gypsy said.

"There shouldn't be anything stopping you entering." Costh commented, "As to your emotional problem, that just involves practice."

"Ok then i will leave you alone because i would hate to have to be the one to make you face the wrath of that voice"

"She's my wife." Costh replied, "See you around thought." He said as he disappeared.

He finds a man with an easy smile, and a warriors body. He's wearing white armor, and has a mithril sword.

"Well hello stranger, who might I ask, are you?" The man said.

The man looked, and even gave off the presence of a leader of men. This man was Rahegaalhoff, Leader of the Fists of Warfare, the Paladins that followed the Elder God, Warfare, even if Warfare has lost his powers.

Gypsy smiled. "Don't worry Leviathan, the "Cure" is soon to happen." She said. She looked pointedly at Aldur.

"What?" he asked.

"Nothing, you'll understand in time." Gypsy said with a smile.


Leviathan laughed,"It must be annoying, having a goddess of fate for a sister"

IC: Eldrad pushed his hair back over his shoulder, tying it back as he did so. With his past out in the open, as well as his true heritage, he now saw no need to impersonate a human, and had resumed his Eldar form. With long flowing black hair, fair skin, and standing slenderly at six foot tall, he carried a sword at his hip, carved of intricate wraithbone, a substance unique to the Eldar. He saw the new arrival out of the corner of his eye, and sighed as he saw what followed. Many souls... he had fought many battles. He did not have as many as Cougar had done when he was the same age, but then again, he never knew how many Cougar had killed over the years, either out of neccesity or because he had no other choice in the matter... or even at times, pure hatred, such as with the Helghast. He turned on his heel, and walked towards the new arrival, having heard the exchange between him and the others,"Greetings stranger, I know why you come here. But oyu have never told us your name."

Mith teleported to the Valshanth (being one of the few beings that could), and called the Queen aside. "Then we'll find Arianna and go back to Crystal World."

She thanked Gaia, then took Warfare and went back to where she'd left Arianna and Aris.

Galvenor Elvarryinn noticed a new presence crossing the Threshold of the Tower. He focused part his consciousness from the distant events unfolding with his friends towards the newcomer. He watched as the stranger spoke with a harried Costh before the voice recalled him back to his wife. Galvenor then watched the stranger walk around, examining the wonders of the tower.

Eldrad noticed the stranger and stopped him. Galvenor observed the exchange between the stranger and the Eldar as they spoke. Galvenor decided to join the conversation at this time.

He extended himself and opened a special rift between his study and the two. He carefully controlled the immense energies so there was no excess bleeding over into the visible spectrum. A flashy entrance might scare the prospective student away so Galvenor kept it quite low key. He moved his being into the same area as the two, remaining invisible.

Eldrad would most likely feel his presence but he doubted the stranger could. It took great mastery to break through his protections. He projected an illusionary body for the stranger to see. He appeared to be just under 6 feet tall, metallic silver hair, amber eyes, and dressed in robes of gold and white, the colors of the Balrogga Empire. He carried neither weapon nor any other object.

After the stranger answered Eldrad, Galvenor quietly added, in his typical telepathic projection:

“Welcome to the White Tower. You will learn almost anything you have the ability to here. We will assist you in any way possible. First, you will need someplace to sleep and rest. I will show you to a room that I am sure you will feel comfortable and let you rest.”

Galvenor stood there waiting for his reply.

OK, as you notice I did a quick outline of the events that occurred while I was at work. (Grrr!!! Work!!!)

Please notice I did not change anything nor did I state yours or anyone’s actions except where they already occurred. The first thing you will probably learn is you should never state someone else’s actions. People will scream at you if you do. Some players don’t mind if you state small actions like drinking, walking, eating, small talk, or other unimportant actions but some will object if you state one single thing without their permission. There are jerks who take advantage of you so only let people you trust to control your characters (HAHAHA, you drank the poison and are now dead! You agreed to be drinking it so there!!!). Just some advice to save you headaches later. If you can find some people you trust then your posts will eventually evolve into segments of stories instead of just statements of what you do.

Also notice the use of text color. I personally use red to show telepathic speech, blue for computers, bold for ship names and IC or OOC statement tags, itallic for thinking, and other uses I cannot remember at the moment.

IC: Eldrad twitched slightly as he felt the power of Galvenor enter the area. He'd heard of the... well, man was the closest he could find in either his language or Basic. In any case, he sent out a slight message, distinct in it's origin, greeting Galvenor back to the White Tower and saying it would be an honour to meet him.

She looked at Leviathan, pictures of all sorts of troubles little boys got into would run accross his mind: Wandering in to a Warren of Vizzerdrixy was among the most dangerous, other fun things included hiding Rahegalhoff's sword, knocking over a priceless statue of his father, in the First Church of Warhaven, and finally, utilising what little powers he had, to switch a message to Leviathan, with a message to Kaymiril VII. Fortunatly, they had been reswitched before too long.

"Anyways, Father's thinking about throwing a party, but is trying to find an excuse." Gypsy said.

Now why did I say that? Grr, Leviathan's making me loose focus, concentrate girl, he hasn't even made any moves yet.

Gypsy starts adding in all recently born Kaymirilians, including Rhenna and Cougar's children. Its a partly complicated process involving entering a strand similar to a life thread, into the Complex Tapestry of Fate. Fate and Death were linked, as it was Fate that decided the length of each life, and the method by which they would die. It wasn't that, Fate was Death's boss, more like, they were partners, in a neccessary, unpleasant process.
