Piekrom']After taking a carefull messure of the different magiks in the air and ground and in everything around him and watching how it was used. He atempted once more to move the chair. This time when he went to the white plain he focused not only on the chair but tried also to see the lines of energy surronding the chair. He then moved the different lines of energy to surround the chair and directed them to do the work of moving the chair for him. The chair then began to hover above the ground moved over a foot to the right then setteled down.

Cougar scratched his head slightly,"An interesting interpretation of the teachings, to be sure. But, if it works for you, then that is what you must use. Now, try and focus your energy into a single attack on me"

Artemis sat up again and yawned, the sky through the hole in the roof was light. He wondered how long he had been in the cavern.

"Five more Hours!" A voice yelled down, then was gone.

This appearently woke the Cats up.

Artemis realised that the cats had woken up, and quickly went over to placate them. Errtu was calm, and (OOC: changed it) she followed him. He quickly ripped a bit of his tunic off, and thinking quickly, tied the last scrap of meat onto it. He ran up to a wall, and jumped. He missed.

He tied the other end of the material around a rock, and threw it at the wall. It got stuck in a small crack, and the meat hung down from above. The cats went over to it, and began jumping. Smiling, Artemis thought, That should keep them occupied, or at least tire them out

The cats continued to lay there. Cats are Docile creatures when they first a+-
waken.

Eventually one or two went for the meat on the wall, and got it.

OOC: Tigers can leap over twenty feet.

A few other cats, went to playing. They were all fed, they were happy.

Five hours later, every single Tiger and Lion, save for Errtu, changed into a Druid.

"Hah, you really think we would have killed you so easily? asurprising though, you made friends with the only real cat in here." The Druidess infront of him said.

He found himself standing in the forest again.

Valanthe approached him.

"Now, there are two more tests. Take this Crystal to Gaea." She said. She handed him a common diamond, and left. Errtu was still there though.

OOC: Alright all, I'll be gone for a few days, moving to Texas. Zombies, your in the hands of Snake Eaters and Kaymiril. Basics, Basics. I told them the meaning of this test. I was gonna say that if I had to take it to Gaia, Gaia is the spirit nature, and nature is all around us, so I could just bury the diamond :p

Artemis squatted down, then sat by Errtu. He looked at the tiger.

Cougar turned his head to the attack, and opened his eyes. Instantly, his whole body became engulfed in a roaring flame, purest white in colour. His eyes were the same colour, his hair had grown slightly, and was now streaked with white on top of the dark blond. The attack slammed into the outer edge of the Flame, and disintigrated as it tried to pentrate it. Cougar powered down, and looked at his student,"A clumsy attempt. You used much more energy than was actually needed. However, it is a worthy start. You must learn, and it takes many years, to use less power to achieve the same results. I train with those who train for centuries, and I will study for that amount of time to master my magick. I am not a master... I am still a mere student myself."

Oh and like what you did was not using too much power. Man what was all that you just turned into a jiant torch. I just sent it flying. You could have just slaped it down. I was just making the attack to show what I understood of how to form them. Well as you said it will take practice and do not worry I will try hard.

"Actually, had you any idea of what my true power was, you would see that what I just did was a tiny manifestation. You don't know how my power manifests, or how it works. Do not contradict me again, or I will cease to teach you, and your impudence would result in you having great difficulty in finding a teacher"

OOC: In case you didn't realise, that is how Cougar's power manifests at the most basic level. When he is fully pumped, the power output is huge, though he has never gone as high as he can go due to the extreme difficulty of holding it at that level.

This mutation has allowed me to control what we call the White Flame. It is not white magick, but is instead pure Holy magick, and as such is the anti-thesis to the Dark magick you witnessed earlier. As it manifests as fire, I have undertaken some training from Kaymirilian pyromancers in the manipulation of it. But I have also received training from all quaters, to some degree. As such, I am able to do a range of things. From healing to devastation, I can do it. But, do not be under the impression that I am the most powerful here. It is indeed true that I do have the potential to be powerful, I have a long way to go before my power is comparable to that of my master"

It is some how related to my emotions I believe. I can see air in my lungs and some specs within my blood everywere. My entier body is flowing with spirit. Most of the magik seems to be concentrating within my blood."

OOC: kaymiral you have not been following our posts very well. I have been using meditation for a long time but for other things in analisis of my self. Mainly in my sword battles and things like that. So meditation is not a new concept but rather using it to look at magik.

OOC: You are treading on thin ice by contradicting Kaymiril like that. I would suggest you never do it again.

OOC: A geomancer is an Earth mage, and they generally work with stone and plants.

An aeromancer that was studying briefly on Riptide heard the call, and Artemis found himself back at Hoeth.

OOC: If you have read any ofd the books that concern neverwinter or ten-towns or luskan or calimport etc etc, set in the forgotten realms you will know what I am getting at. I would ideally like to train as a ranger, but with a bit of Geomacy spells.

The brown-class led him to a patch of dirt under a shade tree, and sat down, gathering a handful of dirt.

He then guestured to the tree. "This is a tree. It is a shelter to some creatures, a barrier to others, provides food for some, and will kill others. But it, on its own, is alive, and it comes from the unliving soil -- but the soil itself was once alive."

IC:"I see , is this anything to do with why the leaves disappear every spring, after coming down off the trees before every winter?"

Errtu jumped up into the tree and lay there on one of the boughs, basking in the sun.

"Yes. The leaves decompose, and become soil...new soil, almost alive...rich for growth."

IC: " No offense, but I've already had one person sort of waste my time, so what has this got to do with Magick?"

"With magick, nothing. But in order for you to understand how to be a mage, especially a geomancer, you must understand these things without their magick. Magick takes years to learn...decades...not days."

"I see, so the soil, is made up of living things, such as leaves and dead anmals, and then it goes unliving, yet with the nutrients in it from the decomposition, it then supports livning things, like plants and insects?"

OOC: Still pretty clever even slightly drunk :p

OOC: No...I don't know what it is. You'd be like...13,14, somewhere in there. Or, maybe you watched the Lion King when you were 5.

IC: Artemis reached for the ball of luight, unsure of what to do with it. He grasped it, and as he did it flickered to a dull light, then suddeny grew so bright he had to shield his eyes from the glare.

"Right then, I know that this won't be wasted. Lets get on with the teachings."

"Exactly. A good crop meant life or death, and still does in some countries. Those who can be assured of a good crop have fewer worries. But that is not all it is used for now. Why is this?"

Artemis sat in thought

" Because.... because a wizard discovered that Geomancy could be used to counter pyromancy? ( OOC: That right?) And nowadays there is more chance of a good crop, and more chance of an enemy coming along?"

"No...hydromancy counters pyromancy. Earth can either nullify it or succumb to it. We work now against naturual disasters, with the environment, and to help create. It is expensive for builders to come in and build...but easier and not requiring as much materials for a geomancer to do the same. In our own defense, we can also create, in the right conditions, minor natural disasters."

OOC: Sorry has not been letting me in for a while

IC: "Ah right, so say I was attacked by several orcs, could I cause a wall to rise up from the earth? And could I hit the group with an earthquake?

"When you are powerful enough, yes, you can raise a wall. You can only cause an earthquake if...if you have the proper tectonics there or near. If you don't, it will kill you to cause an earthquake, which I'm guessing is not the point of the attack."

"It will be several days before you start learning magick at all. You need to learn many things before you can start casting. If you don't like that arrangement, you can go back to the Druids."

The mage teaches him about plants and rocks for several hours (science, not magick), before letting him go, that he might find someone to help him with swordsmanship or archery.

Finnaly I would like to say I am sorry Kaymiril for misspelling you name and saying you were wrong.

Artemis found an Elvish swordmaster. Approaching him tentatively he asked him to teach him how to weild his blade better.

As Artemis watched, the young mage focused her energies, and a plant grew out of a patch of soil. It didn't grow very tall...just a few inches.

"Very good. Normally, for that sort of tree, it would take several years to achieve that height. You will be working with this plant for the next few months, so I suggest you safeguard it carefully. It is a life you are responsible for."

The student nodded, and got to work.

"let me guess. It takes many many years of slow siphoning and adjustments. If I was to do it all at once I would kill my self. Am I right in that asumption. If that is the case I would have to replace it with a balanced mix that fills the space with less concentrated power. Are all of my asumptions correct."

If you were stupid enough to do it.

"These heathens don't know what they are playing with!" Amodia the Eternal thought outloud. "They know not of the glory of Hittcia, the Witch-Goddess from whom all Magic flows, they know not of the Glory of Yellow Heaven."

The seemingly plain-looking middle aged man then said to himself, "Maybe I've spent to much time in the Imperial City. Maybe it's time I make a visit to this stronghold of Heathens..."

At a word of power Amodia the Eternal vanished from his laboratory

Eldrad was waiting for the new arrival, as his clairvoyant abilities allowed him to see who was coming before they even knew they would come. He stood in the main entrance hall, in the shadows next to the main door. His hand rested lightly on the hilt of his wraithbone blade, and in his other hand, the power of the Immaterium began to slowly form into an attack. If the newcomer intended to start a fight, he would be more than willing to finish it. Six hundred years had taught him enough to bring the Tower crumbling to the ground if he so desired, but he would not. Instead, he just waited

A slight whisper in the back of Eldrad's mind:

"And I hate violence where it is not due. You are a powerful mage, but despite what you say, your temper is hot."

The mage sighed wearily, then stood, with his arms folded across his chest. There was little to do but wait.

Tari had brought Monian back a few minutes before, and was some distance away, getting work done while letting him play outside.

Rose was still wandering around the complex, taking in everything she could regarding hydromancy. But she was a shy woman, and hadn't the courage to ask anyone to teach her.

So she was left to watch...no one really understood what she wanted.

Meanwhile, Monian was running around (as children are wont to do), and nearly ran right into Rose. In stopping himself, he tripped over his own feet (again, as children are wont to do).

He looked up and grinned. "Hi."

"Hello there, who are you?"

"I'm Rose. Are you alright?"

"Yeah. Fall all the time."

She smiled,"Doesn't it hurt?"

"No. Not very far to fall."

She put her hand at the top of his head, and laughed,"No, it's not"

He picks himself up, dusting himself off. "Why are you here?"

"To learn magick. Why are you here?"

"To play in the sunlight."

"Sounds like a nice way to spend the day"

It's that with proper grammer and syntax posts are much easier to read.

ic: Miriana had, after training at the Council with Galvanor teaching and the demon's spirt guiding, managed to gain an understanding and ability to use the demonic magicks she managed to earn.

Cougar waved a hand to repair the damage, the White Flame licking at the edges of the wounds. He had gone without damage, taking this time to work on his own magickal control over two things Piekrom could not, and would not, learn to wield.

OOC: He's not disabling you per say, but the style of magick he is wielding is so far advanced, that to try and teach your character now would kill him. Also, it's not taught to many people to start with. Having been Kaymirilian taught (in real life and on the forums), he/I have learnt more, and it stands to reason he is going to know how to do things that Piekrom cannot yet comprehend... and it is unlikey that he ever will. In the Kaymirilian magick system, there are ten basic elements, arranged into pairs. Fire and Water, Earth and Air, Time and Space, Order and Chaos, Creation and Destruction. Now, Order and Chaos are illegal to learn, unless you are a Grey Class mage (healer). Cougar, having lived among the Grey Class, and considered worthy of being taught, does know Order and Chaos magick, which in his case manifests as the White Flame doing various things. DO NOT TRY AND USE THEM! They will tear Piekrom apart. You want to use Fire and Water, so stick to those!

You yourself have said that your characters magick and emotions are linked together? Therefore, the method Cougar is teaching your character is the closest thing he knows that he (your character) can benefit from. If your magick and emotions are linked, you cannot sift them away, BECAUSE they are linked.

You have to establish a continuity, and keep with it. For example, Cougar's magick manifests as fire. Now, he can do many things with this fire, but he is still limited. He cannot, for example, use hydromancy or geomancy. Also, a quick science lesson (because good magick and good science CAN work hand in hand). Ageing is the natural process by which the bodies cells degrade in every living thing. It is irreversible. There is no 'coruptin aging particuls' as you say, but merely the degredation of cells... this is something coming from a sixteen year old, so don't think I'm being pedantic. This process cannot be stopped. It can be slowed, certainley, through use of magic. How, I don't know, because I don't need to. But, it merely slows the impact of Time on your characters cells, and doesn't remove ANYTHING!

OOC: when I was referring to aging particles I am making a direct reference to L. E. Moddeset Jr. I have certain parts of my magik and life style for my character that i will be pulling from the fantasy books that I have read. In all honesty for my magik style I am mainly going to be dragging from Robert Jordan’s series where there are five parts to the magik. Namely: fire, water, earth, air, and spirit. I understand how aging works in real life. I might be just a business major in college, but I do understand enough of the basic sciences. In reality aging is caused by the release of different chemicals in your body that transform your cells.

OOC: And these chemicals cause the cells to degrade! I mean, god, I only got my GCSE results a month ago, and even though I got a C in Biology, I do know this.

In regard to magick... fine, whatever you see fit. But, take into account that everybody else is going to be using a different style to you, and as such it will alienate you.

Cougar looked up suddenly, and his eyes seemed to glaze over. His eyes cleared suddenly, and rose,"I must leave you now. I suggest you practice.... I do not know how long it will be before I return."

Without another word, he vanished in a pillar of flame.

Vedt noted his pupil's departure. Back to Snake Eaters now, then.

ANother Snake Eater. Black hair, black as the raven. Which was appropiate. Raven stepped into the White Tower, nodding to Eldrad, a man he recognised.


She said this was the place... now to see what all the fuss was about

At a courtyard to the side, two Drow warriors were sparring. Their blades flashed in the light and a steady tattoo resounded out from their blades.

A bit farther on, a younger Drow boy (looked to be about Tari's age) was reading a book. A ball bounced from his hand, to the floor, to the wall, to the other wall, to the floor, then to his hand again, over and over.

It's like home... but with blades and magick instead of hands and technology

Raven continued to walk, his feet falling lightly due to his training and also the rubber soled boots he wore.

He eventually came out into the open, and as he did so, a Drow child that had been running around ran straight into him (the child didn't even come up to his waist). Stumbling back, the child looked up at Raven.

"Sorry."

Miriana had continued her wandering of the Tower, and ended up in the courtyard. She watched the two spar, and noticed the boy reading, and wondered who else was there, if any of those she'd last met were there.

Raven looked down, and smiled. His skin was a normal, healthy colour, for a human at least, and his hair reflected almost no light,"It's alright, kid"

"What's your name?"

There was a pause,"Raven. What about you?"

"Monian."

The questions continued.

"Why are you here?"

Raven laughed,"A good question... not sure really. Just wanted to see what all the fuss was about"

"What fuss?"

"Everybody talks about this place... I wanted to look around"

"Okay."

He went off on his way.

He continued to wander, just looking.

A Drow girl was sitting with her back against a tree, quill in one hand, parchement in another, and glider in tablet form on her lap.

She occasionally looked up at the child, and then went back to work.

"Shouldn't you be watching him more carefully?"

"He's fine. Trust me, I've been watching over children for longer than you've been alive."

"How are you anyway?"

"Pretty good. Things are busy, but when are they not?"

She guestures for him to take a seat.

"How've you been, anyway? Overworked, as ususal?"

"Who isn't, in this day and age? Over-worked, underpaid and not given half as much leave as I'd like"

"Such is life. And then, you finally get some leave, and get run down by a kid not even half your size."

"So long as he's not driving a car I don't mind"

"How about we not give a child an archaic human vehicle? Ever?"

OOC: Could I then make a new character with the properties I want in a teacher and bring him in or will you guys feel ofended. He will be very powerfull though and he will be combining fire and ice into shilds and blades. It will be a blue star flame.

OOC: I'm not offended, but you have to bear in mind everything you've 'learnt' so far. Using a different system makes it that much harder to work with you, and I have a feeling that this teacher would be inflexible, resistant to change and so on and so forth.

Power doesn't matter. It's the one who can control the power the best who wins the battle nine times out of ten.

"He's a good kid, though. Very sweet natured. But I learned a long time ago...let him wear himself out, because you'll wear out faster than he will. I'm hoping he grows out of it."

"Kids do, from what I've seen and heard"

"Normally. But I know an exception to the rule."

"Remember Shan? He's a year older than I am, but he's never really grown up."

"Never met him... but yeah, I remember"

"He's around here somewhere."

She sent a spell to seek out Shan's ball and make him start bouncing up and down on his head.

He appears a few minutes later, holding the ball firmly in his hand.

"What was that for?"

T -- "Because. Raven, this is Shan. Shan, Raven."

S -- "Ah, right. You're her assassin friend."

Raven extended his hand,"And you're the mad mage"

Shan shook his hand, taking a seat.

"None other." He looked at Tari. "Dispell it."

T -- "You do it. It's not like you haven't before."

Raven smiled, but stayed standing.

Shan banished the spell making his ball hit him over the head, and was about to start absently bouncing it again.

T -- "Do it and see what happens."

S -- "You're in a mood today." *to Raven* "She sometimes gets like this. It's rare, but watch out."

"I know when to keep my mouth shut, and not do anything irritating"

"Then you're smarter than I am. Or maybe I'm just irritating."

He laughs.

Raven smiled,"Ever considered the fact it may be both?"

"That would be a third option, but who needs to know, really?"

"No-one in particular," said Raven. His eyes scanned the grounds, looking around. A life of killing made a man edgy.

"I'd ease up...Haldosir and Rildorath are aware of all new arrivals, and if they sense a threat -- and these guys know what they're up to -- it doesn't get very far."

"These grounds aren't too large. A good sniper can hit me from atop that ridge over there"

T -- "This is why no one knows what we are, Shan. If someone IS after an assassin, and is either a more cunning opponent, or gets lucky..."

S -- "Ah. Well, there haven't been any killings here. Not in a good eleven years. And that was just a messed up situation."

"Things change"

As do nations...

S -- "You really are a paranoid one."

"It's something you learn to deal with"

T -- "How'd your last mission turn out, anyway? I remember that you got sent out just as I left. What's happened with the other branches?"

Raven shrugged,"Everyone is still doing their own thing for the most part... and the mission went well. Quick, quiet, never even knew I was there. Perfect."

"Good. Are you finding the Aust academy as useless as I did?"

"Oh sod that, I walked out less than twelve hours after you did"

"I figured you would. After all...what good was it? Most of the kids there were either orphans, like us, or rich kids just looking for a good time. The adrenaline high of the possibility of getting killed. Junk like that."

"That. And the fact that I already knew more than all the teachers combined."

"Something like that. And what you didn't know, I generally did, and if I didn't...it wasn't that hard to call home and find out."

"Essentially, a waste of time. If Aust ever attacks Snake Eaters, and they send assasins, they'll be wiped out"

"Any risk of them attacking Snake Eaters, though?"

He shrugged,"Depends on what the next few weeks give us. If Constantine gets in... we could be facing more conflict"

"Gods, just kill Constantine now, okay? I've read up on him...and seriously, just kill him now."

Raven shook his head,"Would, if I could. But to hit the leader of the opposition during an election campaign? Stupid, and foolish. He may not be liked by many, but his supporters would start a revolution."

"What if he were to just...die? Of food poisoning, or a heart attack, or something like that. Maybe a stroke. Those happen to humans all the time, right?"

"Too suspicious. The man is in good health, and if he dies during an election campaign, it's going to look even more suspicious. This is the one problem with living in an absolute monarchy, you can't see the knock on effects of something like you're suggesting"

She shrugs. "Ah well. Oh, where's Garth? There's some new programming for some pretty neat functions for his type of little beast."

"Garth, get out here"

The little sparrow fluttered round his head, and then perched on Raven's hand.

She held out her hand to the 'sparrow.'

"Well, come here. I can't upgrade you if you're all the way over there."

He fluttered over, and perched on her hand.

"You only think you're a spy."

Deftly, Tari activated some sort of switch, throwing the vel'xunyrr into his cylinder form, and sliding him into her own glider.

"This should only take a few minutes. He's gotten mouthy."

"I enjoy a companion with personality. He knows when to shut up and do his job"

"They all do. After all...they're machines."

"Very true... he's got a few things you won't have seen in him as well"

"You've learned how to program him?"

"Actually, he reprogrammed himself. Jacked straight into S.I.O.N one time, and overwrote part of himself. Now, has an uplink to the system... unlimited information extraction.

She laughs. "That's either going to get him killed, or be very useful for you."

"Very useful, actually. It makes it easier to track targets... although I can memorise a profile, I can now access it remotley."

Keris ejected Garth, and Tari reactivated him.

"Raven tells me you've learned a new trick since last time I saw you."

Yeah!

"Not that one"

"You're going to get yourself into trouble sometime."

Shan, meanwhile, had teleported off, and was now playing catch with Monian.

What can I say? What did you do to me?

"You can now shapeshift into a number of small weapons, or become a little earpiece. You can now use that lovely remote-access to S.I.O.N. program to tell Raven what he needs to know...right into his ear...wherever, whenever."

She flicked Garth off her finger so he could go back to Raven.

"New updates come along every so often, especially for those. We're thinking the next one will let him inject poison into a victim...making it unnecessary for you to be incredibly near a target to kill him."

He nodded,"True enough"

"I'm actually heading back to Snake Eaters fairly soon. Find out a background on all candidates but Barbarossa -- the Queen trusts him -- and report back."

"Oh? Interesting"

"Not really. I'm only being sent because I am the least likely to get lost in Snake City."

He laughed,"That's true"

"It's very likely that I'd get lost...but most others...except for maybe Rhenna, would just get there and be lost."

She laughs. "Like him. Never been to Snake Eaters in his life."

"I can't say I'm really surprised"

"True enough. We've only known you for...not even twelve years now."

He nodded,"Nope, not really"

"How long are you here for?"

"A few days, maybe less"

She nods. "Got any plans for while you're here?"

"Take a look around, see what the fuss is about"

"It is a school of sorts. For mages. Like the Aust Academy for assassins. Only it doesn't suck."

"I gathered that much... so many races, so many people."

"I dunno what you'd get out of it...not being a mage...there are some swordmasters here, if that interests you."

"I'm just interested in looking. I thought of looking at those who are learning magick here"

"We've got some real idiots and some who are talented enough to defy belief."

"Any in the latter close by?"

She taps her nose. "Not that I can think of. The only maybe close by is a female human that came in recently, but she's pretty much untried. Needs formal instruction, but doesn't want to ask. Could be arrogant, or just shy. I tend to think the latter of her, myself...but the former is possible."

"Interesting... if she came to learn, I doubt it's arrogance"

"...You'd be surprised. Ask Cougar...really."

"I would, but he's off somewhere"

"Most of the time, yes. How is his magick coming along?"

"Pretty good...but he's only been attending classes infrequently, lately. Between his job and the fact that he has to leave us soon, his lessons don't quite take priority anymore. I don't blame him, honestly."

He nodded,"Understandable"

"I wonder what that'd be like...spending a good chunk of your life in a place, just to go back 'home.'"

"I don't know... but he'll never be the same again"

"No, I doubt it."

"It's got to be hard on you all as well... he's a part of the community"

OOC: Ok here is my new character.

IC: A black cloaked figure walks into the tower. His face is shrouded in the hood of his cloak. He caries a staff in one hand which he caries more so in the way of a weapon rather than as a support device. Those who are trained to see the lines of magik would see that there is a light trigger network that completely envelopes this person. The power behind this network would instantly react to the type of attack with the appropriate counter of intense heat freezing Ice or spirit deflection. Very little power seems to be used by the Mage to keep up the trigger shield. He walks into the courtyard an air of confidence around him. He caries a simple long sword on his back hidden by his robes. As he walks in he notices the one called Piekrom and sees something familiar about him. He sends out a few small threads of spirit to detect what about this person was familiar. He finds it similar to that of one of his order who had disappeared when a spell went wrong several years ago. Could this be the son of that Mage? He pulls down his hood to reveal a very elven face. His ears are very pointed. He is not drow though but rather he is one of the forest sun elves.
