He told her about the dream, omitting how it had been her floating in the water, and replacing it with "A body", then told her of what he discovered since
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 20:24
She nods. "It does sound fairly disturbing. Looks like life's been sending you dreams of hell...I wonder why, though..."
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 20:25
It's not hell... more of a path before hell or heaven... I suppose you could call it purgatory. And if only I knew
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 20:26
Our mythos has no purgatory. ...Still...wouldn't want to visit one.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 20:27
Neither would if I could help it... but it seems as though I may have no choice in the matter
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 20:32
She nods.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 20:34
And, to top all this, I got a call from Shan the day you go
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 20:35
What about?
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 20:37
Better to be honest

"He asked to talk to you, but when he found out you were gone, he went into a panic. He said... Death had tried to turn him against us, and when he refused... Death said he would kill you. Ask Vedt and D'anthe, they'll confirm this... now you see why I was more worried than usual?"
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 20:39
Ah. Well, I'll go see him tomorrow, let him see that I'm okay.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 20:46
Alright. Hopefully, he'll calm down after that
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 20:47
He probably will.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 20:49
He sighed with relief, and turned back to the book, opening it back at the page he had been resting on: The River of Sorrow
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 20:50
She kisses him on the cheek, then goes off to catch up on the work she'd left behind over the last few days.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 20:53
He put his hand to his cheek as she left, and smiled. He visbly relaxed for the first time in over a week, and fell asleep in the chair he was sat in, and for once he was not interrupted in his dreams
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 20:58
She returns a couple of hours later, and seeing him like that, takes the book away and teleports him to their bed, where she pulls a blanket up over him before leaving.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 21:01
He woke after a few hours, and found himself in bed. He smiled, knowing only one person would have put him there. Picking himself up, he went back to his training, after having something to eat. He needed it...
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 21:03
She, meanwhile, is elsewhere. He knows she's still in Rendelmar, but not where in Rendelmar.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 21:05
He didn't bother to disturb her, she had alot of work to catch up on. Likelihood of seeing her over the next few days was slim to none. He merely wenty about his business, training both in magick and body harder than before. Death was coming... and he would need all his strength
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 21:11
*Later* R -- "Pushing yourself, while necessary, might be dangerous now if you go to far. Train in moderation, Cougar."
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 21:13
He hung upside down, looking at Renor,"Maybe. A single session such as this is adequate. I won't be pushing my limits to the extreme, no fear"
Warhaven
17-04-2005, 21:13
Death decided on another Physcological attack. Casting another Dark spell he knew of, Everyone in creation that was not on his side began to have thoughts of death and dying. They were thoughts of their own death, the death of their loved ones, and life without thse they cared most about. Thoughts of finding their loved ones dead. then other thoughts would follow, the thought that the only way to prevent it would be to Placate Death itself. They wouldn't all come on at once, merely seep into their thoughts, until that was all they thought of.
Death smiled inspite of himself. This would surely weaken everyones moral.
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 21:18
M -- Get out of my country.

*She casts a Light Spell -- one known only to herself and her Chosen -- to counter it, and it began to flow through Kaymiril.*
******************************************
R -- *Nods* Make it such, then. *His head turns* Get the hell out of my city. *Energy originates from him, and crackles through Rendelmar, sealing it from Death's attack.*
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 21:22
Cougar dropped to the floor, stopping himself less than an inch above the floor, the Flame gently flickering around him,"I thought he'd try something like that... strange, it bears such a similar resemblance to my dream"
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 21:28
R -- He already has an inroad, in your case.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 21:31
It doesn't help any. Maybe the dream will stop now he cannot get in the city
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 21:34
Only if the dream originates from him.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 21:36
The let us hope that it does originate from him
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 21:41
An odd wish, to be certain. *He leaves*
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 21:48
Odd wish maybe... but then I may not have to see it again

A few days later
He had returned to his teleportation training, Death's return a new incentive to learn. Being able to teleport would be a useful skill in this upcoming war... and still he was unable to contact Snake Eater Prime
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 21:54
Everyone's training seemed to be stepping up in Rendelmar...Rhenna would spend hours on end in the Cavern, learning Draconic magicks, and late at night, the city would shake as Renor and Vedt sparred against each other.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 21:58
In between his bouts of teleporting objects, Cougar worked on his attacks, his defense and his stamina in magickal bouts. He spent long hours in the simulations, working himself harder than ever before.

When he did work on his teleportation, he enlisted the help of fellow students to test him. He did many things: Multiple objects, multiple jumps, more complex objects, moving objects, teleporting stationary objects while in motion, teleporting moving objects while in motion, the list continues on. In between his training, he did little but sleep or eat... sometimes going without either for days at a time
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 21:59
^ if and when Rhenna would let him, which was only when she was doing the same herself.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:07
It was after one day-long training session that Cougar finally came back to his room. Hanging up his cloak, and setting his Gunblade on the bed. After having a quick shower, he collapsed, his eyes pointing at the ceiling

Have we been spending too much time apart?

Yes, you damn fool

It was a rhetorical question

You still wanted an answer

Shut up

Fine, but I'd get it sorted if I were you... it's not healthy to spend so much time apart
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:13
Rhenna comes in, a book in her hands. She's reading it, and her figners are tapping along the binding the way they only do when she's thinking.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:14
He sat up,"Training on the brain?"
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:15
New spell...looks good.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:16
How long has it been? Really?
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:17
*Glancing up for a moment* How long has it been since what?
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:19
He rubbed his temples, something he only did under extreme pressure,"Since we started doing this? All this training... yes it's needed, yes our lives are riding on this... but I feel something else... something fading away in the back of my head
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:23
*Catching his mannerisms, and his tone, she closes the book and looks at him a moment, before going and sitting on the bed so that she was facing him.*

"We have been drifting apart. I could feel it, gradually...I think it's been at least a week since we've even really spoken."
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:25
It's not a plesant expierence... we just can't seem to stop this training. And it's not helping any
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:29
She nods. "We've made progress as far as combative magicks and such go...But you're right...we hardly ever see each other anymore."
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:32
I knew it would be difficult... but never this difficult. I've made so much progress... but my marriage has suffered as a result.
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:34
Then what solution do you propose, James?
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:37
I don't know... if we keep going like this, the bond will be broken, but we will be stronger as mages... if we stop training, our marriage would be saved, but our lives might be forfeit in the coming battle... we need to strike a balance of the two
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:40
She nods. "That seems the best of the alternatives."
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:41
Have you got some time spare now?
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:42
Until tomorrow morning, when I have classes to teach.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:43
He smiled, a smile creased with fatigue, over-worked, and worry"That sounds like a good amount of time to me"
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:51
She reaches out and touches his cheek.
"You're exhausted. Looks like I've been falling down on the job."
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:52
We've both been falling down on the job. And you're right, I am exhausted... too much teleportation
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:53
Okay, that isn't my fault. I warned you against too much when you started.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:55
I know... but I need to get the work in. I've been pushing it too hard though... I'm surprised the Leviathan Project had this much effect
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 22:56
You'll work yourself to death.
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 22:58
Six days, eighteen hours, thirty-six minutes... no human was meant to go that long without sleep. I'm going to have to take tomorrow off, or you will be right
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 23:00
She nods and teleports so that she's sitting beside him. "Get some sleep tonight...I will, too."
Snake Eaters
17-04-2005, 23:02
He smiled,"I take it you've been getting half-hour power naps?"
Kaymiril
17-04-2005, 23:08
As you've dubbed them, yes, when I can. I've been getting less rest than I should, but not so badly as you've been.

18-04-2005, 16:59
The Time had come. Accross creation, everyone got a chill down their backs as something insideously evil awoke, in a forgotten temple on a forgotten planet. Warfare's followers let out a great hurrah as they inherintly knew the time had come, to destroy the Grim Reaper.

I know. I've been stupid with my sleep recently...*shivers*Did you feel that?
Kaymiril
18-04-2005, 20:25
She'd tensed, beside him. "Did anyone not feel that?"

It had been a month since the fall of Warfare, and Asra becoming the new Death. Cougar, heving unlocked his true potential, had been spending time experimenting, but also taking the chance to full recuperate from the expierence, still fresh in his memory. His dreams had been disturbing recently, but it seemed to be less than before the entire expierence.
Kaymiril
23-04-2005, 23:58
Shan had returned to Rendelmar, and his spirits had picked up a lot. He'd been dragging badly when he'd first returned, but after a few days of pranking and being pranked, he'd returned to normal, and aside from a sense of loss, life in Rendelmar was back to normal.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:04
Six Months later
Cougar came back into the halls of Rendelmar with a small flame column. His teleportation as still shaky, and it cost him great amounts of energy to do it, but now he had the basics, he was improving every time he did it. His entire ribcage was bandaged up under his clothing, but he didn't show it. He had been away three weeks, and he wanted to see his wife again. He checked his watch, and saw that it was the middle of the day. Too early, she would still be teaching. He decided to return to the room, where he collapsed into the bed. He would still be there when she returned
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:07
At about five, Rhenna steps into the room. She'd known he had come back, but had only now gotten free. She sat down next to him, leaned down, and kissed him.

"Welcome back. Not too banged up, are you?"
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:10
He kissed her back, and cracked an eye open,"I've been worse."
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:11
Yes, I know. I also know you've been better.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:12
He sat up, wincing slightly,"It's only bruised ribs. Nothing more"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:18
Take a couple of days to recuperate, then. Trust me, you wouldn't want to put yourself in peril of one of Shan's pranks at the moment.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:20
He smiled,"Is he in one of those moods? If he is, then avoidance is the name of the game. I'll be fine in three days, or so my doctor said."
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:22
She nods, and moves so she's leaning against the headboard. She takes one of his hands.

"I've missed you, these past three weeks."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:27
He leaned closer,"I've missed you as well. If I'm honest, you helped me through this more than you know. You must have felt something round about the end of week two."
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:28
Yes...you were afraid. I almost thought I'd have to go find you.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:29
You'd only have ended up getting yourself killed. It's a good thing you didn't come.
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:30
She raises an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:34
"Don't get me wrong, I know you're more than capable of getting yourself out of trouble and whatever," he said, hearing the undertone in her voice
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:35
So, if it isn't too much of a secret, what happened that I "would have gotten myself killed?"
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:41
The mission never officially happened, just so you know before I tell you. Snake Eaters is currently fighting some rebels on one of its worlds, well equipped rebels with the latest in missile delivery systems. So, we had to go in, and seek and destroy. All went well until Day 14, when we got compromised nearly two hundred miles behind the lines. They wouldn't send in an evacuation chopper to get us, so we had to go. That's when you felt the fear. We were being hunted by a vastly numerically superior enemy, running low on rations, water and ammunition. For the first time, I was actually scared. Not for myself, but because I might not get home. It was you that kept me going"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:43
She nods. "That does sound like a fairly bad experience. How does it feel to be home?"
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:44
Better. Much better. And a damn sight more comfortable than a chilly mountainside either
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:48
I would hope so.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:49
He smiled, and kissed her again,"It's a plain fact. Nowhere quite like home"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:51
She kisses him back. "It's odd, hearing that term from you."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:52
He raised an eyebrow,"How is it odd?"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 00:54
You told me, not long after we were married, that you didn't know what residence to call 'home.' It never felt like you truly meant home when you said it before...it was just a place you lived. It felt real, this time, for the first time.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 00:57
He smiled, and rested his head on hers,"Thats because this is the one place I now feel truly at home. For the first time in my life, I feel as if I belong somewhere, with someone"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:01
She lays her head on his shoulder and closes her eyes. "Well...I'd say you belong here. But my opinion might be biased."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:02
It is a good bias
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:04
Well, I'm not going to change it.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:05
And I don't want you to change it either
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:06
I guessed as much.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:09
He laid down, and kept his arms wrapped round her,"Sorry about this, but I'm still tired"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:10
Yes, I know. *She teleports out of his arms, then sits back down on the bed* I still have work to do. I'll be back in a few hours. *She leans down and kisses him* Get some sleep, James.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:12
I'll do what I can*kisses her back*See you in the morning
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:13
She smiles and leaves him.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:16
He waited until she had gone, before digging out the sedative. Since he had got back, he's had trouble sleeping. The dream of the river had returned, and was worse than ever before. He pushed the button, and put the spray away before the delayed-action kicked in. After ten seconds, he slipped into a deep, dreamless state
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:18
She'd come back about four and a half to five hours later and lie down next to him. She'd gone back into her old sleep patterns while he'd been gone, and hadn't really been in the room at all. She closes her eyes, but sleep eludes her for almost an hour before she finally finds it.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:22
He awoke the next morning, feeling much better. His mind was clear, but he knew it was temporary. Tonight, the dream would return, and the sedative could not be used two nights in a row. He kissed her cheek before getting up
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:23
*eyes still closed* "Good morning."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:25
He moved back to the bed, and spoke softly,"So it is. How did you sleep?"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:26
I slept okay. *She opens her eyes and sits up* What about you?
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:27
Perfect... which won't be the case tonight, I can assure you. You've been forewarned
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:28
She nods. "The nightmare keeps returning, no?"
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:29
It only just came back a week ago. Before then, it was quiet since the battle six months ago
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:31
She nods and gets up.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:33
"Have fun teaching," he said, changing the bandages on his chest. Everything from about mid-ribcage down to his waist is bandaged up
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:36
She looks at him. "That's quite a lot of bandages for 'just bruised ribs.'"
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:37
I'm no doctor, so I don't question what they tell me to a large degree
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:38
She places her hand on his chest and runs a diagnostic spell.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:42
She finds brusied ribs, one hairline fracture, and a number of bullet holes in his lower back
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:44
She looks up at him. "So much for just bruised ribs. I'd had a feeling you'd been shot."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 01:46
You really expect me to come out a firefight without a number of wounds to prove it? None of them are giving me trouble, so I didn't meantion them. It's just the ribs that are irritating me
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 01:51
She turns away and sighs. "Honestly, sometimes I don't know what to make of you."

Costh played with the shard of the Mirari as he wandered the countryside. A rune on his side flared, causing his face to blanche bone-white. He sent a magickal message to anyone he thought could help him, Cougar, Rhenna, Shan or anyone else who he thought would hear it and respond. The message was Please hid me, they are coming for me, I need to hid. He sounded absolutely terrified and completely desperate.

Yes, I know. Never quite figured that one out, though.

That's the best part about it, you never quite know why you love the person, you just do*kisses the back of her neck* I assume you have a class to teach

Snake Eaters

Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 02:04
And how do you intend to spend the intervening time?
I hadn't planned that far ahead. I normally go to see what new work has made itself overnight...but there really isn't much, ever.

"Hide first talk, later." Costh replied as he began to shake.
All right, all right. *Barely looking up from his paper, Ishrem scribed a rune in the air. A shed formed around them. A glyph, and the shed disappeared from all outside eyes.* Okay. Now, who are "they?"
Theao
24-04-2005, 02:06
"Not good enought they'll still find me." Costh replied appearing to be on the verge of going catatonic.

I hadn't planned that far ahead. I normally go to see what new work has made itself overnight...but there really isn't much, ever

I see... well, we'll just to have find someway. I'm restricted to light duties, by order of my wife...

One hour and twenty minutes later
He kissed her softly,"Now, aren't you glad you got up just that little bit earlier?"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 02:17
"Not good enought they'll still find me." Costh replied appearing to be on the verge of going catatonic.

ooc: he needs to be very well hidden
Costh, calm down. Can you feel anything of the outside world? No. They can feel just as much of you as you can of them.

I see... well, we'll just to have find someway. I'm restricted to light duties, by order of my wife...

One hour and twenty minutes later
He kissed her softly,"Now, aren't you glad you got up just that little bit earlier?"
She kisses him back. "Well, I can't say I'm sorry I did."
Snake Eaters

She kisses him back. "Well, I can't say I'm sorry I did."

*looks at his watch, then kisses her again*I'll see you tonight. Might be a bit later than normal
Theao
24-04-2005, 02:20
"I can't feel out but they are far more powerful, I'm sure they can feel in." Costh replied, calming slightly but still absolutely terrified.
Kaymiril

She nods, then gets ready for the day. She kisses him before she leaves, and then heads out.

"I can't feel out but they are far more powerful, I'm sure they can feel in." Costh replied, calming slightly but still absolutely terrified.
Who are they? If I knew who they were, I could be sure that this was an adequate shelter.
Theao
24-04-2005, 02:26
"The guardians." Costh replied

His injuries restrict him severly in his training, as he cannot move as fast or focus his energy as well. Instead, he turns to the libary, still trying to figure out the mystery of the River of Sorrow. He is still there when she finishes

"The guardians." Costh replied
Never heard of them.

His injuries restrict him severly in his training, as he cannot move as fast or focus his energy as well. Instead, he turns to the libary, still trying to figure out the mystery of the River of Sorrow. He is still there when she finishes
It's about eight-thirty or nine.

Has he been in there since eight this morning?

She comes up behind him, puts her hands on his shoulders, and kisses his cheek. "How long have you been here?"
Theao
24-04-2005, 02:33
"They're demi-gods from my homeland, and they want me." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 02:36
What for?
Theao
24-04-2005, 02:39
"Because of this." Costh replied pointing to a sword.
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 02:40
Don't tell me, let me guess. It was either one of their swords, and you took it, and now they want it back, or it is a sword with the ability to damage or maybe even kill one of them.
Theao
24-04-2005, 02:42
"Neither, because of it they want me to do something I don't want to do." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 02:47
Relax, take a chair...and tell the whole story. *A chair appears behind Costh.*
Theao
24-04-2005, 02:50
"In my land there are 5 gods, and 8 demi-gods, or at least there are suppose to be 8 demi-gods, there are only 7 at present. Each of the demi-gods is a human who is granted immense powers as well as limited immortality. Do you follow so far?" Costh asked
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 02:55
Yeah, I've got it. Child, I am well into my fourth century. You'd be surprised at what I might understand.
Theao
24-04-2005, 03:03
"You don't need to get snarky. Each of the DG has a unique aura as well as a few special powers. Each one has a unique method of death, in that they can only be killed in one way. When one of them dies thier unique weapon is given to the one the weapon decides is it's next master and the next DG. They DG are split in half, 4 male and 4 female, they also happen to be married to thier opposite DG. The reason they know I'm here is that damn fight with Death. When he used that vine spell they finally managed to find me, I thought I had finally manged to lose them." Costh cursed
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 03:05
So, you're supposedly a demigod. Are you saying you don't want to be a demi god, or you'd rather not marry your opposite?
Theao
24-04-2005, 03:08
"No what I'm saying is that unless and until I die I'll have the potential to become a demi-god, and yes I don't want to marry the opposite to the position I could get, because I don't want to marry period." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 03:11
Why not?
Theao
24-04-2005, 03:12
"Why I don't want to get married or why do I not want to take the rank/power?" Costh asked
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 03:14
Either or both.
Theao
24-04-2005, 03:16
"For the rank, I do not think I could deal with the obligations that would go with the position, and for the marriage, I do not believe I would make a good husband." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 03:22
"To be a mage means to be able to deal with responsibilities with dignity and grace. To marry means to accept a linked fate with someone, in your case, a woman, and to be with her through whatever trials you both might face. Arranged marriages aren't the best, but more often than not, they're stable. What has you believing you would be an unfit husband?"
Theao
24-04-2005, 03:28
"The normal responsabilities wouldn't be a problem, but the how would you like be have to respond to requests when ever anyone called you? Ever, for any reason?
As for the husband thing I just don't think I could deal with being married nor could anyone deal with being married to me." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 03:29
I do have to respond when someone calls me, for whatever reason, at whatever time. It is something you get used to.
Theao
24-04-2005, 03:34
"Then I pity that aspect of your life, if you like a example of the problems, one of the demi-gods has to be replaced every twenty years or so as they each suicide from the stress." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 03:35
So it's not really anything else, you just don't want to be driven to suicide after...a hundred sixty years, give or take.
Theao
24-04-2005, 03:39
"The one I'm suppose to be can't suicide, the one that does is the only one who can. Each of the demi-gods can only die in one way and they are the only demi-god who can die that way, one of the demi-gods can only die through suicide. Also I never tried to get it and am not happy I got stuck with it." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 03:43
Do you believe there is anyone who has been given authority that has not regretted having that power, in some way, shape, or form? Teachers worry constantly about their students, especially if they must also safeguard their students. There are rewards, and there are times when you are up all night wondering if the one that mis-scribed will make it through the night. You wonder if you did right, can do right, have done right.
How many people do you think choose to bear the burdens that are handed to them, in all honesty? Fate has dealt you a card you dislike...so you want to discard it and draw one you hope will be better.

You just don't know how.
Theao
24-04-2005, 03:47
"I understand what you are saying, but many of those who have responsibility are either raised to assume that burden or choose to seek it. You mentioned teachers, they want and seek out thier duties." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 03:53
Tell me...what good could you do as a demi-god...and what harm would be done to you?
Theao
24-04-2005, 03:59
"What good I could do and what evil would befall me with the power, it would be like asking what evil I could do and what good would befall me. The power increase would be sufficiant to make me lose trust in the control I have over it compared to the power I would have. That is part of the reason I came here in the first place, to increase my control." Costh replied "How would you feel if your power increase beyond a level you felt you were capable of dealing with it?"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 04:03
How would I feel? A little nervous, a little overwhelmed...what would I do? Learn how to control it, bit by bit. Being a runic mage, the control is the easier part, each rune can only do so much. Your new powerlevels would merely mean you could scribe more.
Theao
24-04-2005, 04:06
"The problem is that the powers that come with the office are more than just raw power, it is also requires control of much more than one field of magick, think being told you have to master fire, water, wind and earth all at the same time." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 04:09
That would be an interesting challenge. Not impossible, though. Far from it. It has been done before.
Theao
24-04-2005, 04:18
"Perhaps it has but I don't feel I have the skill to do that yet which is part of the reason I have done my best to avoid it so far." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 04:21
When my wife told me she was pregnant, before my son was born, I didn't know what it would be like. It was an amazing experience, being a father...but a demanding one, as well. It was a lot to learn in a short time frame...but I don't think I'd give it up.

EDIT: OOC: Good night.
Theao
24-04-2005, 04:47
"Congratulations, belatedly of course, but you see the problem, I don't think I could adapt like that." Costh replied
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 11:09
It's about eight-thirty or nine.

Has he been in there since eight this morning?

She comes up behind him, puts her hands on his shoulders, and kisses his cheek. "How long have you been here?"

He tilted his head back as far as it would go so he could look at his wife, and returned her kiss before speaking,"All day. I've got time to fill, so I'm trying to figure this dream out... or at least, as far as I can"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 18:05
She nods. "Come on...it isn't good for you to be sitting in one spot all day, even if you have been beaten up some. Let's go get something to eat."
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 18:09
"Congratulations, belatedly of course, but you see the problem, I don't think I could adapt like that." Costh replied
Ishrem laughed. "My youngest turns seventy next month. As far as I can tell, though, this is something you'll have to learn to deal with on your own. When your world changes, there are things you must learn to deal with. No one said it would be easy...but when one world breaks...you often find the new one bigger, and just a bit more fascinating."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 18:13
She nods. "Come on...it isn't good for you to be sitting in one spot all day, even if you have been beaten up some. Let's go get something to eat."

"Sounds like a good idea to me," he said, standing up whilst sending the book back to its place
Theao
24-04-2005, 18:13
"No offence but your youngest is the same age as my grandfather. All in all, I understand what your saying but I'd prefere to wait till I feel I've learnt enought rather than when they do." Costh replied
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 18:17

Dinner is a kreren-based bread and a soup.

"No offence but your youngest is the same age as my grandfather. All in all, I understand what your saying but I'd prefere to wait till I feel I've learnt enought rather than when they do." Costh replied
Drow and humans age differently. And I know you fear it...I'm merely trying to help you view all aspects of it, before running scared.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 18:19
"That tastes so good, after rations for three weeks"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 18:20
"That tastes so good, after rations for three weeks"
She smiles. "I can only imagine."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 18:21
So what have you been up to over these past three weeks?
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 18:22
Pretty much the usual. Nothing really worth mentioning.
Theao
24-04-2005, 18:24
"You have been helpful in playing the devil's advocate and given me much to consider, and I shall think about what you have said, but now is not the time to decide." Costh replied
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 18:24
He looked closely at her, the last sentence sparking off his mind, but he didn't press the issue,"I see. Thankfully Shan didn't find me, so as of yet, no pranks."
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 18:28
He looked closely at her, the last sentence sparking off his mind, but he didn't press the issue,"I see. Thankfully Shan didn't find me, so as of yet, no pranks."
That's a good thing, anyway. Then again, Shan's been with me all day, so he didn't have time to seek you out and prank you.

"You have been helpful in playing the devil's advocate and given me much to consider, and I shall think about what you have said, but now is not the time to decide." Costh replied
Ishrem shrugs. "If that is what you feel."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 18:30
That's a good thing, anyway. Then again, Shan's been with me all day, so he didn't have time to seek you out and prank you.

*Mock serious*Then I am eternally in your debt*He's smiling throughout the entire sentence*
Theao
24-04-2005, 18:36
A short while later, the pommel of the sword started talking, "You can come out of where ever your hiding, we've given up ... for now." The voice was female.

"You can dispell this shelter." Costh said, "And thanks for the help."
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 18:52
*Mock serious*Then I am eternally in your debt*He's smiling throughout the entire sentence*
She smiles back. "I know you are."

A short while later, the pommel of the sword started talking, "You can come out of where ever your hiding, we've given up ... for now." The voice was female.

"You can dispell this shelter." Costh said, "And thanks for the help."
The shed disappeared. "No problem."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 18:55
She smiles back. "I know you are."

He finished up his meal, and sat back, looking around,"I really missed this place"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 18:57
I know. I could tell when you had a spare moment...you would feel closer...like your mind was here, even if you weren't.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 19:06
He smiled,"Well... every spare moment... and I had this of course*brings out a picture of Rhenna*This always helps
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 19:15
She smiles at him. "Yes...I can see how it would."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 19:17
He got up, and went round the table, putting his hands on her shoulders and rubbing them softly,"Well, it's home. You always miss home... and the important people at home"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 19:21
She smiles. "Yes, I know the feeling."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 19:25
He rubbed her shoulders, kneading the tension out of her muscles,"You feel like you need this... a touch more than usual as well"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 19:28
I was called out for four days. It wasn't anything too bad. *She half closes her eyes, enjoying having her shoulders rubbed.* A little lower.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 19:29
"I see," he said, obliging to her wishes and moving his hands lower down her shoulder blades,"Better?"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 19:30
Her eyes close the rest of the way and her voice drops to barely more than a murmur.
"Much."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 19:44
He continued to massage his wife's back, and then leant in closer, so his mouth was level with her ear. "Good," he whispered, before kissing her on the cheek
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 19:46
She turns her head so that his kiss catches her lips.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 19:49
He smiled as she kissed him, bringing his hand up to her other cheek as he did so
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 19:51
She smiles at him.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 19:52
You want to get out of here?
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 19:53
That doesn't sound like a bad idea.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 19:55
I didn't think it was*takes her hand*Where to now?
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 19:56
Anywhere.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:01
He took her back to the sand room,"Haven't been in here for sometime". He forms a single large lounger,"Would you care to finish the picture?"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:03
Water from the fountain takes a path that passes by the lounger, and the door closes. Little pinpricks of light begin to form stars as green starts to carpet the rest of the floor.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:04
He looked around,"Beautiful. Suits the mood" He lay back on the lounger
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:06
She lays down with him, her head on his chest.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:12
He ran his hand through her hair, which was still almost to her waist,"Why do you have such soft hair?"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:13
For the same reason yours is so coarse.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:14
He rolled his eyes slightly at this,"I see"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:15
Drow hair is soft, James. But I like how yours feels, coarse as it is.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:17
Hair to run your hands through. You like doing that, or at least when you get the chance
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:18
And you don't seem to have any objections.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:20
He smiled,"No. I don't, because I quite like it as well"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:24
She tilts her head up and kisses him softly. Her lips barely touch his.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:28
He returned the softness. It was something odd about him. He was a solider, a man whose life revolved about fighting. And yet, he was a caring man, who cared deeply for those around him, especially his wife
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:39
She pulls back a bit, and a smile touches the corners of her mouth. "I may have said this before...but it's good to have you back at home."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:40
He smiled, and held her a little tighter,"It doesn't matter how many times you say it, I know it's true. And it's good to be home"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:42
The sand shifts slowly but surely around them, forming different landscapes under the stars.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:43
He looked lazily around, and murmered,"Are you doing that?"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:46
Yes.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:48
He smiled,"Just making sure"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:48
Don't worry...I'd know if there were anyone else in here.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 20:49
It's good to be able to spend sometime together
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 20:58
She nods. "Very much so."
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 21:03
He smiled, and settled down,"I don't know what I did right, but there was something"

**********************************************************
Back at the Tower of Hoeth, a new figure had arrived from the world of Snake Eater Prime. His name was Eldrad, and he was a Farseer. Essentially a clairvoyant, his ablity to communicate with the dead and gain information from them was what made him so dangerous. His armour was black, carved with intricate runes, symbolising how he drew his power from the warp. He looked around, gazing at the mighty Tower, knowing nothing of what had transpired there over the months
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 21:13
She kisses him again.
********************************************
Hoeth.

Resa is working inside. Her Master, T'puuli, would be there, but the time was fast coming for T'puuli to have her second child, and thus, the Silver class master rarely left T'pdelmar. She had her hood down, for once, and was in the planetarium, seeing what Hoeth knew of the universe.
Warhaven
24-04-2005, 21:17
The Silver ArchWizard is in there with her.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 21:18
He smiled as he kissed her back, rubbing his hands up and down her sides

**********************************************************
Eldrad wandered into the planeterium, sensing the energy of a mage who used similar ideas to him,"Excuse me"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 21:20
She runs her hands up his chest, moving closer to him as they kissed.
*********************************************************

Resa looked at the new mage.
"Yes?"
Theao
24-04-2005, 21:22
Now that Costh's personal danger was over he decided to master and focus on reaching a far greater level of control, so that he would be ready to accept should they come again what they felt was his birthright.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 21:23
After a few minutes, he stopped her,"Not here."

**********************************************************

Eldrad looked at Resa,"My name is Eldrad, and I hail from Snake Eaters. I came here looking for further enlightenment, and you seem to work with similar magicks as me. I was hoping you could help me"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 21:32
Yes, I know. Not here. But I can live with that. *She smiles and stands, flicking her hair over her shoulder. She starts walking toward their room.*

**********************************************************

Rs -- Are you speaking of spatial magicks, or clairvoyance?
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 21:34
He raised his eyebrow slightly, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, before he followed her out

**********************************************************

E -- Mostly Clairvoyance in fact.
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 21:36
H'mm...Clairvoyance is a secondary ability...but I might be able to help you.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 21:38
Eldrad smiled, although his face was hidden under his helmet, which he had neglected to remove,"Many thanks. I noticed a Snake Eater Cobra fighter outside, do you know who it belongs to?"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 21:40
Actually, I don't. There is a record of a Snake Eater Colonel coming here for training in some sort of fire recently, but other than that, I know nothing.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 21:41
Eldrad thought for a moment,"Cougar? I wonder... it seems very likely. The dead have spoken much of him recently"
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 21:43
Whoa, whoa, you're a necro-voyant? Clairvoyancy I can help you with...but the dead...are another thing entirely.
Warhaven
24-04-2005, 21:44
"The Colonel? I met him once, seems to be a very nice man." Stellas says quietly, continuing his studies.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 21:46
I am able to do both. We are few in Snake Eaters, and shunned by people across the galaxy
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 21:47
"The Colonel? I met him once, seems to be a very nice man." Stellas says quietly, continuing his studies.

I have never met him, but his exploits among the secret agencies in Snake Eaters are legendary
Theao
24-04-2005, 21:47
Costh continued working on his mastery of control, repeating tasks repetitively until he could hit a target dead center muliple times.
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 21:48
Necro-voyance is not practiced among my people...I don't know who you would go to for help there...and clairvoyance...you learn through use, and natural ability.
Warhaven
24-04-2005, 21:50
Necromantic Clairvoiance. I might be able to help you more. I have no Qualms about dealing with the Undead. I prefer the Deathless, but, you can't always pick and choose.
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 21:51
He's speaking of ghosts, if I am not mistaken...spirits of the dead, not corporeal beings.
Snake Eaters
24-04-2005, 21:51
Necro-voyance is not practiced among my people...I don't know who you would go to for help there...and clairvoyance...you learn through use, and natural ability.

The necro-voyancy I have had since birth, and it is the communication with non-corporal beings. I wish to expand my control of clairvoyance whilst I am here. What could you suggest?
Kaymiril
24-04-2005, 21:55
Setting a focus...a person, a place, and looking a specific time ahead. If something traumatic is going to happen, it'll come on its own...feels a lot like having a bucket of ice-cold water suddenly thrown on you in the middle of winter, when you're outside and not wearing a coat.

Whoo, that's cold. Or, at least, it will be. Ghosts, Bahh,I've had bad luck with them. Everytime I ask a serious question of a ghost it turns out to be a Boggart or some other Mischevious spirit and it either lies outright, or throws a pie of some sort at me.
