I don't know, James. I get the feeling that Shan's in danger of some sort. *She sits up and leans against the headboard* I don't know...maybe I just don't like the thought of him away from home, where I can keep an eye on him. Mithdelmar is one of the safest places in the nation, possibly in the world.
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 00:00
He sat up next to her,"Maybe you're right. You're more a mother to that boy than a teacher, and you know that. That is why you can't help but worry about him. It's good that you worry. And if Mithdelmar is as safe as you say it is, which I have no doubt it is, then he'll be just fine"
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 00:07
She takes his hand.
"I know...but I can't help it. The nightmare gets less effective by the day, so Death might try a more direct attack if he wants Shan's powers that badly."
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 00:09
He intertwinned his fingers with hers,"Brute force attack. It's something used by cryptographers to break codes. Death may try it, but we've got the spirit equivilant of the ultimate firewall - Haldosir. Do you think he would sit back and let Death take over Shan?"
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 00:10
No...but we also aren't entirely sure just how powerful Haldosir is. What if he can be broken?
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 00:13
Cougar wrapped his arms around his wife, and stroked her hair down her back,"We don't Rhenna. We have to trust in Haldosir, and Shan. If we can't trust in their ablity to resist, what do we have left?"
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 00:14
As he held her, he'd notice her trembling.
"I don't know. You said I was more his mother than anything...and mothers worry, especially when the child is away."
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 00:58
When your intents are kidnapping, manipulation, and mind control, yes. Very much so.
"I have no intent to Kidnap, manipulate or control Shan. I merely wish to show Shan things he may not of thought of before. Every being deserves to make their own decisions about everything. To deny him that choice makes you a criminal. Allow me to finish my conversation, or I will treat you as such and chain your spirit, and force you to let me finish." Death promised. It was no Idle threat either." Death said.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 01:04
OOC: Curse you.
IC:
Haldosir's wrath bent, but a gentler, softer thought pattern broke through.
"You wish to speak with me? Fine. But you cannot shake my belief in my mother."
You know not what you deal with, Dalhar.
"I will find out."
Haldosir's conciousness retreated, hovering on the fringe, watching...protective.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 01:28
"I do not wish to shake your belief in your mother. As I told Haldosir, I merely wish to show you everything. Make you see, make you know everything. The right to make your own decisions is intrinsic in every being, and yet how often are you allowed to make your own decisions? When were you asked if you wanted to stay here for a year? They have reasons, but were you asked if you wanted to stay? I'm not saying it is your mother's doing. The fact that you leapt to that conclusion speaks for itself." Deaths voice was dripping with honey.
OOC: I actually thought you weren't going to do it. I was going have Death back off for now. To late now.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 01:33
If she said there is a reason, there is a reason, and a good one. The fact that she did not tell me why says that there are things that I need to not know for my own protection. It bothers me, and yes I hate it here...but I won't hear your lies.
Well spoken, Dalhar...
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 01:50
"Me? Lie? I can see its to late then. They've already gotten to you. I will have your powers Shan even if its the last thing I do. You cannot stop me, That old Woman cannot stop me, Your "Mother" cannot stop me. Haldosir cannot stop me. Niether can anyone else. Not even my own Father can stop me! Once you leave the safety and protection of Mithdelmar, I'm going to take you bodily and force you to give me what I want. I tried being nice. I tried letting you give them to me the easy way. You want to be stubborn? Then Fine. I'll make you wish you had given me what I wanted. You are the Heir to Haldosir's powers. You know this to be a fact you just won't admit it. You are going to be a valuble asset to the one side or the other when you grow up. I will have you. You will serve me, and only me." Death outright yelled. He left Shan's mind and destroyed several small meteors.
OOC: That's the way to do it. Goad Death into a Rage. This one reveals things when he's angry.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 01:51
If that's the way he wants to play...
Now we know things.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 02:01
Warfare walked into Mithdelmar. He felt Death's presence. He headed unerringly for shan's room. Warfare made no secret of his presence, and he had his sword drawn. He walked right into Shan's room ready to strike. seeing nothing but Shan and his roommate, he asked:
"What happened? I felt the presence of Death." Warfare said.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 02:07
The young Gray-Class mage sat up. "Vel'uss ph' dos?"
Shan hasn't stopped bouncing his ball off the ceiling.
"Xuat eszak bauth ol." *To Warfare* "He doesn't speak common, so I think we should use that language. Death was here...tried to talk to me...I'm a bit confused, and a bit afraid...he threatened to take me as soon as I stepped out of this city...I think he wants to enslave me, but that could just be a trick of the hour."
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 02:09
Well, tell me, what did he say exactly?
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 02:11
Haldosir? Do you remember what he said?
In all its terrible entirety.
Shan's eyes take on a red glow.
"He said
I can see its to late then. They've already gotten to you. I will have your powers Shan even if its the last thing I do. You cannot stop me, That old Woman cannot stop me, Your "Mother" cannot stop me. Haldosir cannot stop me. Niether can anyone else. Not even my own Father can stop me! He seemed rather upset."
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 02:17
It confirms my theory then. Death wants Shan's powers. Is there some way you can like seal them temporarily?
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 02:18
Seal his magickal abilities, or seal myself away?
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 02:21
Well, it depends. As your decendant, are your powers naturally born within him, or does your presence give them to him?
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 02:25
Both. He has the ability to learn both magick and warcraft more swiftly...but in times of great danger, he will be able to summon me, myself. I was very tightly sealed before. Now... *Haldosir's eyes flash* Now, he can almost change with me at will. As to locking his magickal abilities...that is beyond my talent. You would have to ask the master of his class for permission to do that...and I believe it would put him in even greater danger. I know that my line will not extend past this child...but I would not throw him into mortal danger.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 02:34
"Death cannot get into Mithdelmar. Deaths might occur, but Deth itself cannot get in here, or Shan would have been taken. Whether he wants to admit it or not, Death is actually terrified of Mith. As boring as Mithdelmar might be for Shan, it is the safest place for him. With my Children, the slivers, roaming Mithdelmar, and the surrounding area, if anything happens, Mith'll know about it before something happens. I think I will ask Mith her opinion." Warfare said.
Warfare closed his eyes, reaching out to mith, he told her exactly what happened. He also told her where he was.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 02:36
M -- I'm in my room. Shan is safe for the moment, and honestly needs his sleep. I should be easy enough to find.
OOC: Just for the record, in the privacy of her own room, Mith has her mask and cloak of, and is wearing simple gray robes.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 02:42
"Alright, tell your roommate what you will Shan. Mith says you need your sleep. You are safe for now." Warfare said. Warfare walks through walls and rooms in a straight path for Miths Room. He arrives there with little ceremony.
"Well, Now that we know for a fact that death wants shan's powers, we can take steps to counter this." Warfare says.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 02:46
Shan, the red fast fading from his eyes, fixes his gaze on his room mate.
"Forget."
It is a simple command, and the room mate shakes his head.
"What...what happened?"
S -- You must have had a nightmare. Don't worry...go back to sleep.
"Little chance of that when you insist on bouncing that ball."
S -- It's soothing.
************************************
Haldosir...died the year I was born, actually. Other than putting an Anti-Death Ward on Shan, which might cause problems, I can think of little else to do aside from continuing to treat him for the nightmare, and cultivating his respect for life.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 02:53
"Don't worry, I will, distract Death elsewhere. When Anna Finds my body and I reawaken as the Final Summons, it will be time for me to end this once and for all, and finaly, my son can rest." Warfare said. Aspects of his War diety Title were coming back to life.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 03:02
It appears that indeed this battle will have many reprecussions.
*To the human eye, Mith would appear to be about 60 and in good condition. Warfare, however, would be able to tell that the time she had left to live naturally was under a decade.*
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 03:05
"Yes, it will. Mith, your journey will end soon." Warfare said.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 03:10
I know. We all must die, and I am old. My life has not been without mistakes...but on the whole, I am satisfied that I have done the best I could.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 03:15
Very few people can go through life with no mistakes. Not even I am without mistakes.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 03:18
But you've had both more time to make and repair your mistakes. I do not envy you it, Warfare. Mortality, taxing though it may be some times, must be an easier road than Divinity. Less wearing, in any event.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 03:20
"Gods feel emotions at ten times the intensity of Mortals. Sometimes we are the victims of our own emotions. I have been under depression for, 25 billion 500 years now. 500 years longer than the current Reaper has been watching the Death process.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 03:25
Yes...you always did have that essence to you...You've known great suffering, but also great joy.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 03:33
"Let me tell you why." Warfare says. He tells her the story of his Son.
"Understand now?" He asks after he's finished.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 03:37
Yes, I do understand...very much so. Very much so. You are in better condition than any mortal that was close to his family would be after such a series of events. I'd never have thought you two related at all, though...not in one year or a million.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 03:42
After I destroy Death, Another will take his place. The one chosen was chosen before the current ones term by the highest of authorities. It might be a God, it might be a mortal. It might be me, heck it might even be you Mith. I just hope that who ever it is, is peaceful. I don't want another 25 billion years of strife.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 03:46
The idea of me as Death is laughable at best. I've been working for life my entire life. But it would be good to have a less flamboyant Death. It would make my job easier, at the least.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 03:48
OOC: Not even Warfare knows...
IC: Well, since its my job to keep Death in check, it would give me a much needed vacation.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 03:49
I could see how that could be a difficult job, on many fronts, presently.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 03:54
"well, sitting here talking isn't distracting Death. I guess I better go, raise a few of his favorit minions, destroy them, repeat the process for awhile. It'll look like I'm trying to weaken him. I will a little bit, but he doesn't know that we know." Warfare says. So saying, he draws a door on a wall, and opens it. It opens to a moonlit plain somewhere. He steps through, closes the door, and it disappears. Minutse later, Death gets very distracted, and The Nightmare Attack Vanishes, without harm to Shan.
OOC: Yes, it took deaths concentration to maintain the nightmare. Mith should be able to connect the two events.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 03:57
M -- Interesting.
Shan's treatment for that day had already taken place...but how much longer the treatment would be needed was questionable. When the nightmares stopped, the child would be free to return home.
Warhaven
11-04-2005, 03:58
Shan would notice no nightmares at all that night. They vanished with the attack.
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 09:51
As he held her, he'd notice her trembling.
"I don't know. You said I was more his mother than anything...and mothers worry, especially when the child is away."
He felt her trembling beneath his arms, and held her closer than before,"It's a good sign that you worry for him. I won't try to claim to know the feeling, but I'm still here for you when you need me"
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 20:41
She closes her eyes and draws in a deep breath, forcing herself to stop trembling. Reaching out, she checks on Shan.
"I get the feeling that something happened or almost happened tonight...but he's asleep now...like we probably should be."
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 20:44
We should really, but not until I'm sure you're ok
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 20:46
I'm okay. Tell me, anything interesting happen yesterday?
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 20:50
He thought about this,"Not offhand. I was training on my defence, and I noticed a kid, about seven years old. I asked his name, Monian, and got to talking to him. Poor guy's only been here a week, so I gave him someone to talk to. Me. Turned out he was meant to be being watched, and got away."
He smiled at the memory.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 20:56
Ah, a really little one. You can always tell the smart ones...they're the ones that drive you insane. So, what did you think of him?
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:00
He was... well, highly emotional, but cute. Theres no other way to describe it
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 21:10
Typical, for up to the first year.
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:29
He smiled,"Sounds about right in any school."
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 21:31
Probably. According to Renor, I wasn't any different than most of them...then again...they've all been through so much, even though they're so little. The only good thing about it is that they won't remember any family other than this...it won't hurt them so much.
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:32
Lucky them, in a twisted kind of way
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 21:33
She nods.
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:36
He smiled, comfortable in the position he was in
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 21:40
She smiles slightly. "Someone looks comfortable."
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:43
I've heard that one before. Why, aren't you?
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 21:45
I'd have to say I'm fairly comfortable.
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:47
He smiled,"Alls well that ends well then. We're both comfortable, and more importantley, we're talking. A rare commodity recently
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 21:48
I work more than full time while I'm here. I barely used to get everything done before.
OOC:I can't find any where. Can I please post a Lore?
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:49
I know.*kisses her*Don't worry about it
OOC: I can't find your nation anywhere. Can I please post a Lore?
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 21:52
I know.*kisses her*Don't worry about it
*She rests her head on his shoulder* We both knew this wouldn't be easy.
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:54
Yes, we did. I'm on high alert for the time being, so if anything happens it's going to get even harder
Snake Eaters

OOC: PLease post a lore. New ppl are always welcome
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 21:54
She nods. "I understand. With your job, you could always be called out at almost any time."
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:56
You remember the letter I got before we came home? It was my new orders. I'm on high alert - terrorist threats. If only I could get there faster, but I can't bring the Dauntless here
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 21:57
I can teach you how to teleport.
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 21:58

11-04-2005, 22:01
Part of my duties are teaching students. You are a student here, are you not?
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 22:02
Until I'm told otherwise, yes
(Sorry for the double post. O.k. I'll post another Lore.)

Spears of Thunder is a GM, Celestial Embrace would also be, if you don't have the rp skill to pull it off.

OOC: Spears of Thunder seems very Godmodish to me, as does Emperor Slash. Other than that, it all seems good
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 22:05
Until I'm told otherwise, yes
Okay then.
I haven't really posted the rules for the spells yet. Spears of Thunder and Emperor Slash are spells which can only be used when the chi of an area is sufficiently abundant. In order to cast the most powerful spell, Emperor Slash, you need to be in good standing with the Jade Emperor and/or honorable. So you may need to roleplay doing well and being good in order to cast it. For instance, if you risk your life constantly and sacrifice yourself, you may be able to invoke the spears or the slash.
Kaymiril
11-04-2005, 22:12
It's still GMish. You need to dull down those two attacks.
Let's say the spells are 1/5th as powerful for those at NationStates.
Snake Eaters
11-04-2005, 22:18
Okay then.
He smiled,"It should be interesting, to say the least"
Kaymiril

IC: I didn't think I would. If we are to work in the morning, sleep would probably be a good idea
Kaymiril

Kaymiril

He'd find her in a training room.
::Begins to practice his spells as a great golden dragon spirals out of the ground.::"What is they bidding master?" The creature asked. "Just practicing my magic Ah Cho Bung. Here is someone I'd like you to meet." ::Points to the drow.::
Costh, having been wandering, decided to pay a visit to the Tower. Once there he saw the oriental, and decided to see what he did. Costh assumed a meditative stance, as he sat and watched the new mage.
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 01:16
Magickal energy flickered through and around the mage as she trained. Targets rose from the ground -- just rocks, really, picked up by the winds she controlled. Lightening bolts flickered from the clouds and her hands to strike her targets, and she stood on a cushion of air, her white robes whipping in the force of her winds.

Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:22
All too true.
Before you try to teleport, there are some concepts you have to understand.
It is among the most precise of all the spells we use. You may only ever teleport into a place you can clearly see or a place you can clearly visualize. To do otherwise can result in severe injury and/or death.
That being said, teleportation is done by summoning up the will to go from one place to another, without traveling the distance between. *She goes over to him and takes his hands* Pay very close attention to how I focus my spell energies. *She teleports them across the room.* Do you know what I did?
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:25
If I'm reading it right, and I like to think I am, then you focused your energy, concentration and willpower, on the point you wanted to go to, and then moved. That's the best explanation I can think of. It seems similar to telekinesis, but moving between space, rather than across it
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:27
It is akin to telekinesis, yes. But do not mistake the one for the other...it means trouble. Try it. *She conjures a table beside her, and an apple in her hand. She places the apple on the table.* Try teleporting it to yourself.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:31
Cougar released his control on the White Flame, letting it burn softly. He let his eyelids fall closed, reaching out with his tendrils of thought. He found the apple, and focused in on it. He applied the energy, and opened his eyes. The apple had not moved
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:32
No one gets it their first time, James.
Warhaven
12-04-2005, 21:34
The wizards look at the phantasmic avatar in curiosity, poking at it, prodding it, using all sorts of analysis spells on it.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:35
"Did I say I expected to get it first time?"
He tried for a second time, but still nothing happened,"We could be here some time yet"
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:36
I expected nothing less.
The avatar replied to thier prodding, "Please stop that, it tickles."
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:37
"Didn't think you would"
Third attempt. Still nothing
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:38
Try this...reach out and feel the apple. Lift it telekinetically, then set it back down. Know exactly how much it weighs, and what its shape is. Then try it again.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:42
He did as she said, lifting the apple a few inches off the table, noting the weight, the shape, before setting it down again. He returned to his old position, and tried again. Still nothing, not to his eyes
Warhaven
12-04-2005, 21:43
"It Talks!" "Its living!" "Goodness gracious me!"
These words came from the assorted bunch of wizards. One stepped forward, braver than the rest.
"Who, or what, are you?." The wizard asked.
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:44
It took me almost a hundred tries to teleport the apple at all...and it wound up coming about halfway.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:45
It's going to take me much longer than that
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:45
Maybe, maybe not.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:47
ONly time will tell.
He tries again... and again... and again. Nearly fifty trys later, he is no closer to moving the apple
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:48
Take a break, James. You're looking tired and frustrated.
"Of course I'm alive. My name is Costh, and what you see before you is an avatar. Oh and BOO." The avatar said with a grin
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:51
He nodded, and cracked his neck from side to side,"It's more draining than it looks, even pulling in the energy from outside. And I'm not frustrated... much. I knew it was going to take ages"
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:54
Well do I remember the days of learning to teleport. *She takes his hand.* Was there anything you wanted to do today?
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:55
Well... I remember you talking of a cavern under the city
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 21:58
The cavern? I could take you there...I'm the only one that likes it down there, though.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 21:58
Tell me about it
Warhaven
12-04-2005, 21:59
"Boo?" "Is he trying to scare us, or insult us?"
"You'll have to forgive us, we've been away for longer than we care to think. Things like this spell did not exist when we were here last." The wizard said.
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:02
Tell me about it
Why tell when I can show? *They are suddenly in a dark, slightly dank underground cavern. The stillness is absolute, and the only lighting comes from the lichens that grow on the walls. There are no furnishings of any kind.*
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:03
He stood, drinking in the silence,"How big is this place?"
"That's alright. I apologise about the BOO comment, it just seemed like the perfect oppertunity. If you like I can either come there in person or you could come here." The avatar replied.
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:06
He stood, drinking in the silence,"How big is this place?"
Only about a hundred square feet. Not big.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:08
Reminds of the caves I lived in when I was a kid
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:11
Save that for this one...the only way you can get in or out is by teleportation. There are only two other people who can currently get in.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:14
Could be a while before I see here again... I don't see what people don't like about it
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:15
Oh, half of me dislikes very much to be down here. Half of me is very comfortable down here.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:16
I can see why that half likes it. It's quiet... very quiet. A great place to come and think
Warhaven
12-04-2005, 22:17
"Here and there are relative terms." Declared a Wizard in robes of Silver.
"You mean of course, that we can come to the point in space at which you exist, or, you can come to the point in space at which we exist, For you see, there is no there, were we're at, we are here. There is no there, for where you're at. You are also "Here" because you are not thinking from the point where we exist. Just as we are both Here, we are also there, From each ones perspective, we are the only ones here, everyone else is there. That is why Going to another point in space is much more accurate." The Mage declared.
"Oh be quiet Sa, you bore us." A Wizard in Gold robes said.
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:17
A good place to hole up. I just use it for coming to think, most of the time.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:18
I might use it... when I finally get telepotation sussed
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:20
She nods. "You'll have to know it VERY well, though...and you'll have to remember at least one point in the cavern precisely."
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:21
"Could be some time then," he said, his face illuminated by a nearby clump of lichen
Hearing the wizard talk, Costh thinks great, a metaphysically inclined wizard.
Throught the avatar he said "I'll come there then." As he finished saying that he teleported to the exact position of the avatar, so the only visable effect was the somewhat indistinct avatar became completely distinct.
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:24
"Could be some time then," he said, his face illuminated by a nearby clump of lichen
Probably.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:26
We should get back to the work. You know me, I can't let a problem lie
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:27
I'd recommend at least an hour before you go back to it.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:28
Fine. You're the expert on these matters
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:31
Hey, quit that. *She kisses him.* Let your energy levels rebuild.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:32
*Kisses her back*I will, don't worry
Warhaven
12-04-2005, 22:34
"Well, that was intresting." said a wizard in black robes.
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:34
She teleports them both out. "I have to do other sorts of work today, unfortunately. If you need me, you'll be able to find me."
"So what are you doing here, last I heard the last wizard died out a long time ago?" Costh asked
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:36
He tapped his temple,"Always. I'll see you later*gives her a quick kiss*"
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:38
She kisses him back and heads off.
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:40
After giving himself an hour or so to allow his energy levels to return to normal, he went back to the teleportation exercise. He would be doing this for some time yet...
Warhaven
12-04-2005, 22:41
"Simple, we never died. we were put into a Massive Stasis spell, us and about 2 billion other beings. Our purpose is to defend Warfare in the next war, then die. In the mean time, we simply wish to learn as much as we can." The Wizard in Gold robes said.
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:41
Rhenna's day consists of teaching and other work...but she does get in time to begin studying the book that Bahamut had given Anna to give to her.
"Ah, if you don't mind me asking what do the difference in robe colour mean?" Costh asked
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:44
He sat against the wall, after another hundred attempts. Still he hadn't got it.
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:49
Jovin came in, and looked at Cougar. "Teleportation, right?"
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:50
Cougar stopped glowing,"Yeah. How'd you guess?"
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:51
Same for everyone, at least the first exercise is. It's hard. Took me three hundred attempts to get the apple to fall off the table. After you move it the first time, it gets easier with each passing attempt.
Warhaven
12-04-2005, 22:52
Our robes? It defines what powers each of us have.
Silver Wizards Learn of Space Magic and create it.
Gold Wizards learn of Time Magic and how to create new spells.
Red Wizards Learn of the Fire Element.
Blue wizards Learn of the water.
White Wizards Learn to manipulate pure energy.
Black Wizards Learn destructive Magic.
Grey Wizards Learn Great Healing magic.
Purple Wizards Learn of Lighning and Wind.
Brown Wizards Learn of Plants, and the powers of the Ground.
Most feared are the Archwizards, who learn them all and more.
Your Tattoos remind us of Runes. Are you a Rune Wizard?
Snake Eaters
12-04-2005, 22:53
Same for everyone, at least the first exercise is. It's hard. Took me three hundred attempts to get the apple to fall off the table. After you move it the first time, it gets easier with each passing attempt.
I'll get it... it's just going to take time. I haven't been learning six months, and here I am already trying this
"Technically rune mage, but if I were around in the age of wizard I'd be a rune wizard." Costh replied
Kaymiril
12-04-2005, 22:55
I started learning last year. I'm forty now, came here when I was nine.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 08:10
I started learning last year. I'm forty now, came here when I was nine.
Thirty-one years as compared to six months. I can see how long this is going to take me
Warhaven
13-04-2005, 16:59
Age? No, Wizards are magic users, age has nothing to do with it. Unlike Mages, wizards study other areas in addition to the one the excel at. Archwizards study all areas.
"Ah, it appears we have a communication problem. When I said age of wizard I did not mean age in the term of years but age in the meaning of since wizard was an comman term for the users of higher level magicks rather than solely the domain of hedge wizards. By your standard of muli-diciplines defining a wizard then I might fall under that as I have greater than average power in the realm of what my people term wild magicks." Costh replied
Warhaven
13-04-2005, 20:39
Well, we have been away for longer than we care to think.
"That you have." Costh replied "How did you learn and use magick, if you don't mind me asking?"
Warhaven
13-04-2005, 20:58
We learned from other wizards, who in turn learned still from other Wizards. the origin of Magic itself has been lost to history.
"Ah, how did you actually use magick, ie: I use these runes." points to body," How do you do it?"
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:05
Thirty-one years as compared to six months. I can see how long this is going to take me
Probably about a week before you get the apple anywhere...just be careful...the apple that fell off the table was badly mangled when it came back to reality...and maybe a month before you can safely teleport yourself.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:08
He nodded,"My inexpierence is my biggest handicap in all matters magick. Ah well, one hundred and fifty attempts... and counting"
Warhaven
13-04-2005, 21:09
Well, usually we chant our spells. Since we've been gone for awhile, it's possible that it can be done diffrently now.
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:10
It's not something they can entirely teach you. They can tell you how they do it, what they do, and show you how it's done...but it's not going to do you one bit of good until it clicks.
"They probably can. What robes do Rune Wizards wear? It'd be interesting to see how rune magick has changed over the millenia." Costh replied
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:14
It's not something they can entirely teach you. They can tell you how they do it, what they do, and show you how it's done...but it's not going to do you one bit of good until it clicks.
I'll get it. Give me enough time, and I'll get anything... I hope
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:15
I'll get it. Give me enough time, and I'll get anything... I hope
If that weren't the case, you wouldn't be here.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:17
He fell quiet once more, and concentrated. Once again, nothing had changed,"Didn't expect anything else."
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:18
You have to expect it to come each and every time, or it won't. That's why teleportation is the hardest skill to learn.
Warhaven
13-04-2005, 21:19
"Well, look for yourself." Said a wizardess. She walked forward. Her robe was white, and it had various Runes drawn upon it. Costh could easily identify them as basic runes he knew, but their purpose was obvious, they identified her as a rune wizardess. She tapped Costh on the Shoulder, and suddenly he himself was wearing one almost identical to hers, except his was sown for a man, and it was sized just right for him. Made of various furs, it was soft and comfortable. Being lose, it was breezy enough to keep Costh cool in the heat, and could be drawn tight to keep him warm in the cold.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:26
He kneaded his neck muscles,"Lets try this once more". He rose to his feet, and let the Flame burn fiercly around him. ONce more, he reached out with his mind, found the apple, and pushed his energy into trying to move the apple. In his minds eye, he saw it move from the table to his hand, but when he opened his eyes, it still hadn't moved
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:27
You're getting closer. Just don't let it drain too much of you.
"Thanks." Costh said as he began flexing/stretching to get a feel for the robe.
"So do Rune Wizards were the same colours as other Wizards but with runes on them or is white the colour for runic magicks? Also these feel odd, probably because I'm not use to them." To the wizardess, "Would you mind if I see a demonstration of your rune magicks, then I'll show you my powers if you'd like."
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:30
I'll be alright for now. Another half-hour of work, then an hour out, then another hour or so working on this
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:32
Sounds about right.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:33
Good. I'd best get back to work*turns back to the table, and begins the process all over again*
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:35
Jovin leaves him so that he can work.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:37
Once Jovin had left, Cougar pushed himself harder than before, doing another seventy-five attempts before he begins to feel light-headed. He sits down to recover, and then stares at the apple.
"I'm going to get you, even it takes me an age," he mumbled, before going to eat and then rest in his room
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:39
Rhenna's sitting on the bed when he gets there, poring over the book in her lap. Occasionally, her fingers will tap along the outer binding, as she thinks out something the book has said.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:46
Cougar noted Rhenna was in the room, and grabbed the journal along with a pen. He sat in the corner, trying his best not to disturb unduely, and wrote:
I've lost track of days really, so I'll go by what I know. Rhenna and I have been married just over a month now... a month to remember. It's been hard since we got back a few days ago to find time together, but we knew it would be.
Most recent hurdle: teleportation. This is going to take time. And I'm still on high-alert, so I may be called out anytime. Should be an interesting few months
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:49
Rhenna conjures up a bookmark and closes the book, sitting there, thinking over what she's read.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:54
He folded the page back on itself in the top corner, and then closed the journal. He crossed his legs, and closed his eyes, going into a meditative state, one of a completley blank mind. It had been devised for use during lapses in torture, to recover energy and gather ones thoughts to breaking through the barrier again. This time, he used it to calm down and regain his energy for his hour of work
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 21:55
You're not going to get anything done if you put too much into it in one day. Especially on the first day.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 21:58
He opened one eye, and looked at her,"I know. I find this helps to calm me down when I'm thinking about something"
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:01
And what is it you're thinking about? *He finds himself being lifted up telekinetically and set down next to her.*
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:05
That is the oddest feeling in the world
Anything... Everything... just stuff mostly. If I'm even thinking that is
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:07
She nods.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:09
He closed his eyes again, and instead looked around with his mind. His gaze found the book,"What are you reading?"
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:10
Bahamut gave Princess Annastrianna a book on Draconic magick...which she gave to me.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:11
And? Interesting reading?
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:12
Difficult. I'll probably be spending most of tomorrow working on it.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:13
You're the only one who can use it. I know you'll succeed... faster than my teleportation anyway
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:18
Teleportation is hard...very much so.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:19
I noticed that
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:23
You'll get it. Don't worry.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:27
I know. Knowing my bad luck that seems to plague me, from time to time, the call will come just when I don't want it to
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:28
Ajarin's Rule -- Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:29
I've heard that one before
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:30
I think every race has a version of it.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:31
We call it Sod's Law.
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:33
Doesn't make it any more pleasant when it comes into effect.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:34
He nodded,"No, it doesn't. Theres also something called the Fog of War - Once something starts to go wrong, it will continue to go wrong"
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:36
That's called Situational Inertia. If an object in motion stays in motion, then a disaster in motion stays in motion until it's stopped by an outside force. That's a very difficult thing to do.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:40
Same ideas, different names. It's the same the galaxy over. Still,*opens his eyes*I can think of worse places to be than here
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:44
I bet. *She reaches out and takes his hand* I'll have to admit, the room was nicer in your house, but it's not terribly uncomfortable here.
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 22:46
It's not uncomfortable, just smaller. I'd like to term it cosier, but that would be pushing it a little too far*smiles*
Kaymiril
13-04-2005, 22:48
She smiles back at him. "Would it, now?"
Snake Eaters
13-04-2005, 23:02
He smiled at her,"What would you describe it as?"
Warhaven
14-04-2005, 00:35
The Wizardess inscribed a rune in mid-air and vanished to the courtyard, taking everyone with them. She then proceeds to scribe a rune in mid air that erects a target a ways down the courtyard. The target is self-replicating.
"Alright, your turn." she says.
"Ok.' Costh said with smiled and used a rune on his skin to glow cause the self-replicating to begin glowing like a strobe light/disco ball, before using a different rune on his hand to fire a iceball at the target.
Kaymiril
14-04-2005, 02:36
He smiled at her,"What would you describe it as?"
I don't know...this has been my room since...I would say probably before your great-great-grandfather was born.
Warhaven
14-04-2005, 02:47
"What in the infinite layers of the abyss was that? I know about an Ice ball, but what did you do to the target?" The wizardess asks. She has no idea what a disco ball is, or a strobe light.
The Wizardess scribes a simple rune. Three seperate Lightning bolts thunder down and hit the target.
"I'm guessing from your reaction this spell didn't exist in your day. It is used at our primary magickal school as part of the decoration at dances, as well as post-grad celebrations." Costh replied as he used a used a rune to cause a pillar of flame to shoot from the sky onto a few of the targets.
Kaymiril
14-04-2005, 03:00
OOC: You guys care if I have my new Aeromancer join in the fun?
Warhaven
14-04-2005, 03:07
"Ahh well. Let me show you a rune I made up myself. It spawns a creature of vast porportions, but only a master rune wizard can scribe it properly with the right amount of power." The Wizardess said.
The Wizardess scribes a complex Rune. Light blots out. A great beast of somesort walks into the courtyard. It rivals the tower in heighth. No one can see what it is. A pair of great red spots make eyes. Great feet smashed the targets, knocked holes in the walls, and destroyed local landscape. The Wizardess scribes a second rune and the beast disappears.
"That was a beast known as Grendal. Grendal, is, well, I don't really know. That's apart of the spell, the mystery." The wizardess said.
The Gold and Silver Wizards reversed time and restored the local area. Then they let it fow normally again.
OOC: Grendal really is a creature from mythology. Just Google the tales of Beowulf.
Kaymiril
14-04-2005, 03:12
Storm clouds swirled in the center of the field, and with a spark of lightening and a resounding thunderclap, a white-robed Kaymirilian mage stood in the field.
"Who summoned the Grendel?"
While not high up in her own field, she was highly ranked enough to be permitted to check another mage's credentials.
OOC: Yes...you have to be accredited to use greater magicks, at least in Kaymiril...which is why you won't see a Black-Class mage doing cool things in public for show.
"I think I may have heard of a creature similar to that. The master of my field could probably do it but I doubt I could do it personnally, presently. I haven't created any runic spells persay, but I have mastered/created a few new rune sequences." Costh replied
ooc: I know, I've read Beowulf, it's norse or germanic mythology
Warhaven
14-04-2005, 03:23
" I need no credantials. I was scribing high magic Long before acrediting was even thought of. I hail from a time exactly 15 billion years ago, if Warfare is to be believed. Then again, he hasn't lied to me before so I see no reason not to believe him." The wizardess said.
Each Wizard had around their neck, the symbol of Warfare.
Kaymiril
14-04-2005, 03:30
"Fifteen billion years ago, humanoid creatures didn't even exist," the mage begins to argue. She does not believe in these "wizards" and is not familiar with Warfare. A black figure, masked but not cloaked, teleports in beside her.
"Relax, Suaco. I will handle this."
S -- "Vedt...very well." With a swirl of clouds, she is gone.
V -- I must admit...it is unexpected, to see this many old-time mages here. Am I to guess that the final battle is upon us?
Costh, hearing the black mage get called Vedt, called up to him, "Hi Vedt, remember me?"

"Yes, then the New Reaper will ascend, I only hope that this one is a peaceful Reaper. We will not survive this battle. At least, not many of us will. Perhaps one or two monks, a cleric and a Paladin maybe. I'm surprised that Grendal took on a life of his own. I thought he only lived when I created him with my Rune.

I don't know...this has been my room since...I would say probably before your great-great-grandfather was born.
I don't even know who he was, or what he did. I don't suppose it matters a great deal, although I doubt you ever truly thought you'd be sharing your room with a human
