OOC: Actually closer to 150, but he gave you the conservative estimate.
IC:
...Wow...do you have any friends? These ninety four people in here, I consider them family. I know them all by name, and I know a lot about them. I can't see how you'd be so suspicious of other students of your master. And, well, students of his students.

IC:"Well, you are certainly quite good at it. Thank you for your permission. Living Mortals in paradise are a rare occurence, I shall not bring him here often, I wouldn't want Heaven's Gates to be ripped assunder on accident or something." Lady Warfare said.
A few minutes pause.
"I wonder what you could whip up with a bottle of Tangleberry Wine. It only comes from Mirroden, and has only been made within these last few centuries. Here try a bottle." She said. She summoned a bottle, and gave it to Levithan.
"You should try an Eon in the mortal realm, it's really quite refreshing." Lady Warfare remarked.

I do have friends. I know the other 155 members of my unit by name, and their families. They are my friends and family. Rhenmet, Lady Warfare, and Renor, I consider very good friends PRIVATE:if only one was just a little bit more than that... mental slap and you are growing on me. *smiles*. And I'm not suspicious, I'm wary. I'm a solider by trade, not a mage. This is a different world to me, and instinct just tells me to tread cautiously
OOC: Cougar is honoured that Renor has him as a student

I was a mortal orginally anyway... *examines the wine* I could do some things with this. Could be some time though.
I was going to take some time out from God-hood for a while anyway. I might vist some worlds. Would you be my guide? Things have changed since I was a mortal, all those centuries ago

"If you wish, the best place to start would be a neutral place without very much danger. Remeber, when your in the Mortal Realm, you still have your powers, they just aren't as powerful as here, which is why the Battlefield of the Gods is my chosen battle ground. It is here in Paradise, just, out on the fringe edges of it. Close enough though, that my powers are at max. In fact, Here in Paradise, is the only place we can cast Supernova. They tried that awhile back in the Mortal Realm. We just can't generate enough power. I suppose we could if we concentrated on it for a week or so, but, what good would that be? Come, I will show you one of Natures greatest Marvels, Mirroden. A world that is nothing but Metal, Darksteel, to be exact." Lady warfare said.
She waved her hand, and the Gateway to the mortal realm appeared.

Okay.
*Shan leads him to a large room, where padded and/or wooden blades/weapons hung on the wall.*
Shan! Atsar! *Another student throws Shan a staff-like weapon, which the boy catches. The student, a female, then lunges at him with a similar weapon. Shan counters and repels his friend*
Rhenna told me to work with this one today, Tari. Although we'll be heading to Sreen Lorulmen in about half an hour. Get a couple of the others...it'll be fun.
*She nods, and takes the weapon from him, and Shan then calls a pair of swords to himself, as close as he can find to Cougar's katana. He holds one out to Cougar*
We have to work with these for now...Rhenna said it's so we don't chop each other's heads off.
EDIT: OOC: This exercise is more a learning activity for Shan than for Cougar.

"I see Rhenna's point, if you've never used them properly before, I would most likely end up killing you, of which I have no intention... yet." he laughed, and brought his sword up before him, "Now, I hear from a little bird that you have little to no expierence in this method of combat. Holding the wooden blade up (very awkward...his wrists are higher than the end of the sword), Shan leans forward and basically takes off toward Cougar at a run, bringing the sword up like a baseball bat, and starting to swing it around.

Cougar smiled to himself, a novice, no doubt of that. He sidestepped, then ducked under the swinging blade to deliever a perfect strike to Shan's nerves. Nothing that would hurt him, just enough to cause him to jump

The young mage whirled around and whipped his blade back up. This time, he brought the blade to his shoulder level, and held it so it was perpendicular to the ground. Advancing more cautiously, he slashed out, aimed for Cougar's shoulder.
OOC: You can bruise him...just not too badly.

24-02-2005, 23:33
Cougar smiled in spit of himself, and stood his gorund against his opponent. The 'boy' had learned from his previous mistake, and was now being careful. But that too was a mistake. Without warning, Cougar covered the distance between them, knocking Shan's blade aside with his own, and striking the young mage on his shoulder with the edge of the blade
Kaymiril
24-02-2005, 23:35
Another mage is watching from the sidelines...it's impossible to tell his age. He doesn't look like he's going to interfere with the battle, though.
Shan jumps sideways from the attack, then slams his blade against Cougar's and lashes out for Cougar's stomach with his foot.

25-02-2005, 00:03
Shan struggles vainly against the hand on his back for a moment...but Cougar being bigger and stronger, he figures this isn't going to work. He pauses for a split second to think, then whips his sword arm back at an angle, until the blade connects.

25-02-2005, 00:07
Cheeky little.... Cougar brought his blade into sharp contact with Shan's wrist, causing a nasty slapping sound to occur."Calm down Shan, and relax. Put your weapon down, and I won't be forced to do that again," said Cougar his voice very level, a tribute to his training

25-02-2005, 00:13

"Felt like first time trying to cast..."
The mage nods. "They call me S'argt. I've been away from the city the past twenty years, and I decided to visit the old haunts before reporting in to Renor. He's still around, is he not, or has he been replaced by that whelp of a Chosen?"
S -- "Vedt's still the Chosen, and Renor still lives."
OOC: Thanks.
Thank you very much. You have listed two good Mind lores, but, of course, there's more. You might find that some of these spells are best used with Aura magic sources.
Mind Lore is a very usefull and sometimes destructive lore. Focused mainly on the mind instead of Aura, runes, mana, etc.
Crush:A much powerful form of Telekineses, but can only go in a down motion.
Mesmerization:A brilliant flash of beautiful colors and fearful images. This combination is the key to not pressuring the victim, but completley hypnotizing them.
Fly:Do I really need to describe this? Concentrating a small amount of energy under your feet can allow you to levitate and so on.
Obvioulsly, there are a ton of more spells for the Earth and Darkness(Soul Lore) Here are some...
Rock prison:A series of spikes portrude from the ground encasing a target in an impassable barrier.
Seperate:You're going to need to push back those lumps of rock after casting an earth spell. This one allows you to separate and crumble any rock or metal to dust or send it to its orgional place. Good self-defense spell
Earth shower:Taking debris, dirt, glass, etc. you must focuse mental energy and Mastery of the Earth to use this spell. It rains all debris gathered on an enemy. ONLY used in dueling against other mages and beasts.
Earth Spear:This spell comes in two variations. One is to make a weapon. Used by combat mages travelling light. The other one is the more massive one. This one needs more concentration but is worthwhile. It summons a huge pillar of rock unto a mage's foe.
Soul spells:
Freak Storm:The only way to describe this spell is freakish. Like all soul spells, this one is very dangerous. No one knows exactly what happens because no one has returned from this with sanity in tact.
Magical Reckoning:Completley drains all magic sources from a mage. As simple as this spell sounds, the user must touch their opponent.
Darken:Dims the vision, magic sources, and overall power of an opponent. The user must know telepathy to use this spell.
Plauge:As dangerous to the user as to the victim. The user must touch the victim in less than 66.6 seconds. If they don't, they simply collapse dead. If they succeed, they are still in danger. Once touched, the victim adopts a form of the Bubonic Plauge (Boils, fever, etc) But overtime, the boils explode spreading Bubonic germs, usually on the user.

This is Tari, you've met her, Ashra, and Jovin. Everyone, this is the Cougar we've heard about.
A -- A human?
J -- An adult?
S -- A novice. And he's only 26.
T -- That is young...is he up for this?
S -- Trust me, I just got beaten really badly by him in combat training. He ought to be somewhat okay with magick, too.

A mage, fully concealed in a royal blue color, nods at the two, her mask hiding her face.
"It is. The library is vast, and there are many classes here."
OOC: Most of the discussion on magick and the like goes on for about the first 10-15 pages, and after that dissolves into rp.
Fair enough. Thank Leviathan I don't have anything on me. Is this world all simulated then?
S -- yes. That doesn't stop it from being dangerous.
*They're walking along the path, and come to a fork in the road.*
T -- The Ditronw Path or the Zet Path today?
S -- I don't know...both are about the same amount of fun.
A -- Then let the human choose. He has no idea what he's getting into, and blind choices are always fun.
"Thank you, would it be possible for us to be tested so that we may train with your students?" the shorter asked as she removed her cloak(clothing) while the taller removed his. The girl wore a blindfold covering her eyes while the male's head and arms were covered in weird mulithued designs.

Our powers here in the mortal realm consist of simple will, we can however, imitate just about any form of magic we choose, to help train mortals with the skills. Personally, I stick with will power, but, if a certain form makes you feel better, by all means, go with it. I'll take you on a personal tower of mirroden, and show you the Myr, and the Myr matrix. They're ancient living machines. They eat metal. I'll also show you the Slith, strange creatures that only grow stronger when ever they hit. J -- Don't tease Trils...because right after them come -- *he ducks abruptly as Shan sends a blinding spell at a creature behind him. The creature bears a strange resemblance to a Veloceraptor.* The Elgguren.
The children draw in closer, energy crackling around their hands, as a group of six or seven Elgguren draw around them.
S -- These are the second hardest beasts in the simulation...a little bit of fire isn't going to get you very far...we only generally run into them when Rhenna or a different instructor is with us.
*There is a tinge of panic to his voice, and he sends an attack at a creature that gets too close. It causes the creature to withdraw a step, but doesn't do very much good in harming the creature.*

A breeze picks up, blowing towards the Tower of Champions. Lady warfare lays leisurely on the breeze and drifts with it.
"Come'on, lets go then, simply will yourself to lay upon the breeze and it will happen. Its in the direction of the breeze." Lady Warfare encouraged.
When they got there, there was no sign of the colossus, Warfare reached down, put her hand on the ground, after stepping off the breeze, and raised the Darksteel colossus. It was tall, it had dwarfed couger to be sure, not being under anyones control, it wondered silently what had woken it up.
"This is the Darksteel Colossus. Couger defeated it using the Black Flame and Fieros, in one singular fantastic explosen. It takes a lot to make Darksteel explode. Here is how the fight played out, from Cougers perspective."She said.
She waved her hand, and a small illusion, replaying the fight appeared. The colossus meanwhile, lumbered off to see how the world had changed since it had been asleep.

"I believe I know why they are here," said Cougar, stepping forward, the Fieros burning in his palm,"Only two mortals carry this power: Renor, and myself!" He turned to the younger mages, "Hold your positions! I'll deal with these guys!". He gradually built up the power until it exploded and washed over the creatures, causing them to dissapear in the magickal inferno...
Mirroden
"Intersting, he is much more advanced and powerful than many of the Black Flame bearers before him," said Leviathan, after he had finished watching the replay,"I believe you gave him the additional power?"

IC:
A -- They're here because they are. This isn't the first time we've run into them...just...never without an experienced mage.
J -- Well...we might as well continue on.
*resuming their positions, the children began walking again. Without warning, the ground started to give way under them. Jovin, the eldest, and Ashra, the one who had been learning the longest, teleported to saftey, leaving Tira, Shan, and Cougar the ones falling into a hole.*

*A vine starts slithering down past Cougar, into Tira's outstretched hand. "Ashra, take him down."
To the rest of the students: "What happened?"
T -- The ground dropped out from under us.

M - "Yeh. James, you need to get home right away! Barbarossa himself sent me
C - "Why? What's happened?"
M - *hesitates briefly*"Kaelis Ra. He's returned. His followers are numerous, and Snake Eater Prime is burning under his attacks!"
Cougar eyes widened briefly, then he spoke,"Matt, go home. Go to your family, and keep them safe. I'll go back"
He looked at Rhenna,"So, it has begun...". If she looked into his eyes, she would see the flickers of fear, but a fierce determination also

Rhenna's head turned to the "bird" on her shoulder.
"D'anthe..." It took off, and in short order, Renor appeared...S'gart beside him, haughty looking as ever.
Muscles tightened around Rhenna's mouth, and her eyes flickered with barely restrained hatred, but the older mage merely ignored her.
OOC: Renor doesn't trust S'gart...so he's dragging him along for the ride. Don't worry...he's a powerful mage, an excellent fighter, and won't toe the line...yet.

The LightningSword dropship came out of the clouds, its hull glowing with the heat from entry. Cougar led his group towards it as it touched down, and waved to the crew chiefs as the doors opened,"Very fast guys! How long before we can go?"
"2 Minutes, Sir! Gotta let the hull cool, or she'll crack up in space"
"That's perfect"*turns to the others*"Listen, once you board that dropship, theres no turning back. You can leave now if you want, I'm not forcing you to go"
Thought to Renor: Is it wise to bring him along? He could jepordise the entire mission!
Thought to Rhenna:Calm down. Let it go... for now. You'll get your chance

Couger had summoned her, this shocked warfare more than anything. In a brilliant flash she appeared, Aura going Full blast, nobody anywhere had any doubt that a God was in Mithdelmar. the most troubling thing was, she changed form without wanting to. She was back in her armor in human form. Her Gunblade was in her hand, ready to attack anything in sight. Sensing nothing to attack, she relaxed, and quieted her power.
"What the? How did you do that?" Warfare asked.

M -- I'll be going along, as well. With what I've heard, it might be wise to bring along a good medic.
R -- I'd sooner have him here where I can keep an eye on him than in Rendelmar with Vedt at the Tower and the next most experienced mage only 179.

Cougar led Rhenna into the dropship, sat her down and buckled her in, ensuring the harness was secure before doing himself. He whispered into her ear,"Calm down! I can't have people fighting among themselves on this, there is so much at stake. Please Rhenna, I will help you get him... later!"
Cougar checked to make sure everyone was buckled in, then nodded at the crew chief. The ramp retracted, and the Ion engines burned fiercely. The entire craft shuddered as it lifted off, and tore through the atmosphere, its course set for Snake Eater Prime...

IC:
Almost simultaneously, there is a flickering shadow to Vedt's left, and a woman who looks barely more real than illusion congeals; and to his right a runic portal opens, and out steps a man.
"Vedt, why have we been summoned here?"
V -- "Areath, this is Gena...she's looking for someone to train her in your class of magicks. I know you're not busy, so I thought you might be able to use an apprentice. Ishrem...if you cannot see why you were summoned here..."
I -- Right. His name?
V -- Costh.
...Adias, Vedt will be passing Gena and Costh off to two different mages in short order. Why don't you have your char go and get to know him a bit?
Might as well.
Seeing the two mages who they would be studying under Gena and Costh each turned to thier instructor, offered a half-bow and said almost in unison "Greetings Master, It is a honour to train under you."
ooc: this is the method they were taught to honour thier teachers.

I -- *to Costh* Unlike them...we're walking. Come on...this is my first time in this tower, so we can both get lost.
Gena seeing here trainer fade out, focused and faded out after Areath.
Costh replied "Yes Master."

A -- Just curious...are you blind, or is the cloth to let you learn to trust your sixth sense? You don't have to answer if it isn't any of my business.
I -- *starts walking, scribing a glyph in the air, and kind of following it around* Oh...this particular glyph lets you intuit direction...or rather, it intuits direction for you. It's an old Dwarvish glyph meaning "find." Why don't you try it?
G -- "Yes I am blind but it is blind by choice rather than by birth or accident. Those who wish to progress beyond a certain level in any form of magic must be willing to make a sacrifice for that power. It is to teach us that with power there comes danger and responsability.
C -- "That is a new rune for me, I don't think I've ever studyied Dwarvish runes. The most similar rune that I know to that is this one." He points to a small image on his forehead. "It appears to prefrom the same general function as the Dwarf glyph but I still wish to add that glyph to my repetoir." He focuses and draws a decent but not exact copy of the glyph in the air with his finger.

I -- That's not going to work. What you just drew is a pre-Phonecian pictograph meaning "twelve."

Vedt, having taken care of the two students, goes back to the volume he'd been perusing.
G -- "My abilities in the shadow magicks depend on what aspect of the power I use, My summoning aspect is the best while my offence is the worst. The defence and general aspect are about equal.
C -- "I apologise for my poor 'penmenship' the last time I had to draw a rune in the air was about 3 years ago. I'm afraid I've fallen out of practice in drawing runes in the air."
Kaymiril
27-02-2005, 04:58
A -- Well, lets see you summon, then. I'll let you choose.
I -- Then that's what we'll work on first. Your life might depend sometime on your ability to scribe.
G -- "Yes Master*." She focuses on the shadow and manages to coax a 'raven' out of the shadow. "This is known as a shadow bird, it appears almost identical to the chosen bird save for a slightly darker tinge, it is one of the first summoning spells a shadow mage learns."
C -- "Yes Master would you wish me to practice on paper or in the air."
ooc: master is gender non specific to them
the reason Costh isn't use to drawing glyphs is because he can use the runes on his body instead, only when he learns new glyphs does he have to master the drawing part first
Kaymiril
27-02-2005, 14:48
A -- Sounds roughly similar to what we learn. I guess, to start your training, we'll work on your attack. *she stands* Hit me...if you can.
I -- Scribe them in the air. *He scribes about twenty new runes in the air - runes that Costh would have never seen before.* These are some of the more basic ones to scribes. Five of them are runeds, five are glyphs, five are pictogram, and five are heratic. They have different functions, so I don't suggest you test them out here...just scribe them until you can swiftly duplicate them perfectly.
OOC: I kind of got that with your first post.
G -- "Alright then." Gena focused and cast her first spell. This caused muliple 'hands' to arc out of the shadow trying to grab/punch her master.
C -- "Alright then." Costh replied as his finger tip started to glow but without any power behind it as he commences to script each one 10 times before moving on to the next one reguardless of how close/far they were from the oringinal design. Once finished the first full repitition he went back examinied each set of 10 compared to the original and continued to practice this time going for acuracy by doing on till he belived it finished.

A number of hands equal to Gena's attack form out of the shadow and attack the hands back. Areath then shoots a different spell along her hands, sending her student's hands back to the shadow from whence they came.

OOC: Sorry, forgot to say it was Costh's master telling him that. I separated them out, and thought you'd get it.

27-02-2005, 19:06
A - By all means.
ooc: sorry for not posting earlier I was at a tournament
Gena regathered her focus and launched another attack. She launched the same attack as before but opened a small shadow hole under Areath while casting a bolt of energy directly at Areath.
C -- "Yes master I shall work on improving my accuracy, then speed. Should I work on my persicion with runes I am more familiar with?"
Kaymiril

"Good."
Ishrem: Work with what I've given you.

28-02-2005, 01:50
A -- Continue until you manage to hit me.
I -- Costh. *after he has his pupil's attention* Don't force them. Let them flow.
G -- "Two questions before I continue master. First should I use any/all my powers to attack you, beside my shadow magicks. Second how much force should I use?"
C -- "Yes master." he said before working not only on percision but on making them flow, like he was instructed to.
Kaymiril
28-02-2005, 02:03
A -- Use whatever abilities you have...and as to the amount of force...injury's fine...but it would be appreciated if it wasn't lethal.
I -- No...You're focusing too hard. This rune here...*taps one on Costh's shoulder* A Draconic rune meaning "sleep." It's very complex, and this is only the second time I've seen it. I've never cast it...never even scribed it before. *he raises his hands and scribes the rune exactly in the air. He is relaxed, and the process takes less than a second.* If you let them flow, they will come as called. If you force them, you're ten times more likely to get them wrong.
G -- "Alright then." She said as she prepared for an attack drawing elements from both her shadow training and elemental training. For her opening attack a small ball of flame flew directly at Areath's face where about a foot before impact it burst in a blaze of intense light and sound. While this was happening the hand attack was redone, followed closely by a summoned 'shadow warrior' attacking from the rear. While these attacks where underway a tiny* tendril of energy snaked its way toward Areath with the intent to bind her by the wrists.
C -- "Alright I shall relax and try again." Having spent a short period of time(30 seconds) he began to draw the runes one after another each flowing out after the other.

A -- "Excellent. A tri-attack." Utilizing only shadow magick, she first darked out the light attack, then poisoned the bind-spell, then conjured and ran the warrior through. "Now...let's try something like...this." An illusory wall sprang up around Gena, whirling. Her magickal senses would be entirely overwhelmed...so much so that left, right, up, down, meant less than nothing. And from all around her were coming shadowhands and lightning bolts.
I -- Better.

28-02-2005, 02:41

G -- Being 'blind' enabled Gena to see through the illusionary wall with surprising ease. While the wall impaired her magick sense she utilised a unique* illusion/teleportation she left a perfect image of her, responding to all the attacks. While her doppleganger battled with the wall it also launched a frontal attack while Gena moved up behind Areath's back to launch a electrical attack into her back.
C -- "Thank you master."

"You must remember that the magick we practice is illusion, more than anything. We play on light and darkness...and those fearsome shapes that visit people in the depths of the night, while they have no barrier against it. It is generally considered the weakest of all magicks...when you know something is illusion, it cannot hurt you. Your elemental attacks are exceedingly weak, as well...I have seen better attacks from first year fire students, and a fifth day air student could come up with a better lightening attack."
"I understand that my elemental abilities are not a decent level compared to my other skills but the shadow magick training was primarily focused on shadow magic with secondary on healing and necromantic magick. The elemental training is designed more for wilderness survival rather than combat. Also much of the shadow magics that we learn can be made solid provided the caster is of sufficant level or skill."

A necromancer?
OOC: Just so you know...necromancy is highly distasteful to mages of my nation.
ooc: ya it's called necromancy but it isn't what Areath thinks it is, basically normal necromancy involves force bondage of dead spirits to deceased bodies. This is more a way to speak and interact with the dead, closer to exorsisims, talking to the dead, healing of certain types of injury ect. There are two types of Necromancy in Gena and Costh's land, Black Necromancy, an evil varient commonly called Black Magick/Black Arts and just Necromancy which is a good varity. She doesn't realize that Areath doesn't know of the difference. Also most priests have some skill in Necromancy.
ic: "Yes I have some skill in Necromancy but none in the Black Arts."

FYI
Necromancy, according to the 2nd Edition AD&D Players handbook is:
Necromancy is one of the most restrictive of all spell schools. It deals with dead things or the restoration of life, limbs, or vitality to living creatures. Although a small school, its spells tend to be powerful. Given the risks of the adventuring world, necromantic spells are considered quite useful.
The various curative and healing spells are considered Necromantic. The use of the spells determine if you follow the Path of Darkness or the Path of Light. Being a Grey Necromancer is extremely diffacult seeing as the two extremes view you as their opposite... not a good place to be.

"Simple the Black Arts are an abomination, a perversion where the souls of the dead are forced into servitude of the practitioner. Necromany is the art of communicating with the deceased and the healing of certain types of injuries normal healing majicks can simply not deal with."

IC: Warfare's thoughts turned to the tower, perhaps she should send someone back to help out in her stead, yes, he would do nicely, and he still owed her a favor. Letting her will be known to him, a soul travled from its rest in paradise, eager to once again roam the Mortal realm. Appearing on the far end of the courtyard a strange Man appeared. He looked like he came from a childrens fairytell. He wore a classic blue Wizard's robe complete with a star and moon print. His hat was pointed and decorated in much the same manner. A long white beard flowed from his chin and he had peircing green eyes. An Aura of peace flowed from him, and his gaze seemed to take in much. He strolled over to the two Shadow Mages.
"Pardon my intrusion, but is this the Mortal realm, or have I somehow made an error and ended up somewhere else?" He asked.
OOC: No he isn't a god, but he's powerful all the same. If you think about it, you already know who he is, OOCly.

OOC: Kaymiril knows who Arcime is, I mentioned him when I gave her the magical equivalent of a Nuke. Arcime is a very famous wizard from Eons in the past. Most Mages of today would at least know of him, though maybe not his appearence.
"Arcime, Arcime, where have I heard that name before." Gena mutters under her breath before replying "I am Gena and that is Areath."
The mage walks over to the library his mind set on studying. As he walked in, his gray eyes saw the three magi conversing. He immediatly recognized the blue mage's peaceful aura and whispered one word in his croaking voice almost as if shuning the mage, "Arcime..."

"Hoeth, Hoeth, where is Hoeth, Bah I don't know, but I know how to find out. Now, where did I put that?" Arcime says to himself.
He reaches inside his long robe looking for something. Un able to find it he takes his Robe off, an exact replica is underneath. Arcime hangs his first robe up in mid air, after telling it to stay and giving it a stern look, he reaches for a previously unseen zipper and opens his vest to find a bookcase hidden in an extra diminsional pocket. He reaches for a brown book with random white streaks. Upon closer inspection the white streaks are roads, and the cover is a map of ancient Le`Lanshire once elven capitol of creation, until that is, everyone decided to spread out. He cracks open the book, and says with authority:
"Omega, Nu, Celistia."
He closes the book and puts it back, closes the zipper, and puts the robe back on. A gold map appears in front of him as the spell takes effect. It unfolds and stays in mid-air. A giant red dot says "You are here" It is centered on the white tower at Hoeth then, Suddenly the entire map gets small, and is a veiw of the universe. A green dot says "Tower of Arcime", on the far side of the map. Arcime's eyes widen and he whistles in surprise at his location, however he seems better now. the map fades out of existence.
He turns to Ramick
"Thank you for your help, I am oriented now. I have been gone for quite a while now, havent I? I suppose the entire universe has changed. Tell me, what is it your here to study?" Arcime asks.

Arcime pulled out a tome from his pocket. seeing the dust on it he blew the dust off, unfortunatly the book was so dusty that it was nothing but dust, as a result, the book went with the dust. shrugging, Arcime simply pulls one out of another pocket that had previously been sealed.
"Oh well, thats why I always had a back up." Arcime said nochalontly.
Flipping through the book, he made his way to a spot that contained Ultima, and one other spell.
"There are only two spells I can think of that would fit the bill then, Ultima, and Meteor. Ultima causes a very big Explosen, and Meteor causes large Meteors to rain from the sky for about five minutes. Everybody has their opinion on which is more powerful. They were crafted to destroy Death. Which one do you know?" Arcime asked.

"Remember the seeker glyph I showed you a while back?" He scribes it. "You try it, now."
ooc: when you say leave do you mean permanet or temporary
"Alright then." Costh relaxes and manages to draw/copy it perfectly/near perfectly.

OOC: Temporary...for now. Have Gena talk to Vedt or Ishrem to find out what the deal with Areath and necros is.
IC:
Ishrem nods. "Now...see if you can't find your way to the courtyard, using this rune."
C -- "Alright then." He redraws the rune but with power behinded it and begins to head to the courtyard. As he reached the courtyard he bumped into Gena. "Hi Costh mind if I ask your master a question?", "Hi Gena go right ahead."
G -- "Ishren, when I was training with Areath the topic of Necromancy came up and she absolutly wigged out. Would you mind explaining why if possible?"
Kaymiril
28-02-2005, 21:59
I -- About a hundred years ago, there was an uprising of Necromancers in our country. They were a violent faction...and Areath's family...parents, siblings, husband, children...were entirely wiped out. It's not something she can exactly let go of.
G -- "That would explain her reaction, but from what I gather both from her attitude and a few books I've studied in the library necromancy is forbiddin and the practice of it is punishable by death so how would it be possible for a necromancy cult be possible?"
Kaymiril
28-02-2005, 22:08
It is forbidden...and it is punishable by death...now. It was highly frowned upon, then. Like a poison, the forbidden magick spread through our nation...many died. Queen Kaymiril VI then made necromancy punishable by death...Areath would have helped in that search if she'd been allowed to.
G -- "So the practice of necromancy is punishable by death, what about those who know necromancy but don't practice it?"
Kaymiril
28-02-2005, 22:17
In my nation, it's best to just leave the whole thing alone. If Vedt had realized that you were a Necro, however you use it, he'd probaby have summoned Shriea, rather than Areath.
G -- "I am not a so-called necro. I know aspect of what we term necromancy, but nothing of what we call Black Necromancy and what most people here seem to belive necromancy is. Also who is Shriea?"
Kaymiril
28-02-2005, 22:32
The term means only one thing for Areath. Shriea is a different mage of Areath's class...not quite as talented...but a little more open minded.
G -- "I shall wait in the library while the Univeristy politics sort themselves out then." She said just before she 'shadows' to the library.

Areath, meanwhile, has shaded to a pond nearby. She stands, looking into the water.
V -- *teleporting to her* Still cannot let go? *when he receives no response, he nods* That's why it would be best for you to continue to train, her, then.
A -- What?!?
V -- You need to move on, sometime. A century is enough time to grieve. I do not sense a bad soul in her...and you need to grow beyond what happened. I will not force you. It is a decision you need to make on your own.

I -- Well, since we're here...show me some of what you can already do.
C -- "How would you like me to demonstrate what I can do?"
Kaymiril
28-02-2005, 22:55
I -- You pick.
C -- "Alright then." He begins by having the glyph of sleep on his shoulder glow pale blue. This cause all those within about 10 meters of him to begin to fell like they need to sleep now. He then moved the glow to a rune on his foot causeing him to levitate above the ground. He then activated a glyph on his hand causing a fireball to fare around his hand. He depowered the symbols/glyphs/runes on his body settleing down on the ground.
Kaymiril

IC: Arcime was quite excited being back in the mortal realm, his mind wandered back into the old days, back when he was studying under his master, the greatest wizard in history, the one, the only, Merlin. Merlin's dying wish was for all magick users to cooperate under a common law. But no two Wizards could actually work together long enough to agree to anything. Oh well, maybe in this new Era, the younger generation could make it happen. A sort of, Wizards council...

IC:
I -- Tell me...which is your favorite rune, glyph, symbol, or pictogram? Also tell me why....
Vedt left Areath and walked back toward the library. On the way, he passed Arcime.
"Has the world changed much since last you were here, Elder?"
C -- "My favorite, hmm, I don't really have a favorite. Typically the one that works best is the one that I use, it doesn't really matter what type it is just as long as it's the most effective at it's job."
Kaymiril

I - Fair enough. Tell me...how do you decide which runes and glyphs go into your repertoire, with so many out there that do basically the same thing?

"Oh yes, When I was alive, the Wizards, Mages I guess they would be known as now, new about other worlds, Space travel was not actually done though, by any race. All the Elves were of one species, and lived at Le`lanshire. I'm guessing that over the years they spread out and became the many diffrent types they are today. It doesn'tsurprise me that change happened. This is not truely my world anymore only Gods can handle living forever. I can see though that it is in good hands. I once knew the greatest wizard in history, Irregardless of how he went down in the books. He was, well, I still don't know quite what he was, but his name, was Merlin. We often dreamt of future events, knowing there was no point in us recording them for the future generations. The knowledge would only get lost over the years. But we did know, that magick would never cease. It was one of Merlin's wishes, to unite all magick weilders, under a common law. A set of rules everyone could agree to, to be fair. Alas, such a thing was not possible in our day. Magick weilders could not get along. There were the few oddballs like me and Merlin, but not enough to actually make a set of laws for magick. It would have been a sort of, Wizards council. Rules would be set, offenders would be chased down by specialized "Mage Forces". Yes, it was a grand dream. There was even to be a school, where anyone could learn to weild the powers. In todays world where Science is also strong, it might even be wise to figure out how to bind the two together, science and Magick that is. Who knows what wonders might come out of such learning? Maybe, Maybe todays world, could bear such a council. I don't know, maybe it was just a dream after all. I apologize, I've rambled on and kept you from what you were doing, unless of course you wanted to know more about the lost ancient world." Arcime said.

A mages' council...it sounds very similar to the Kaymirilian system. Officially, seven mages preside over all the mages in the nation...teaching them, and enforcing the laws. It works fairly well...with some, few exceptions.
And I am here in my master's stead, to teach if I desire, but more than anything, to learn. Kaymiril has been dreadfully isolationistic since its founding.
OOC: Warhaven...irregardless = a double negative.

OOC: Yes I know that, but that's the way Arcime speaks.
IC: this would apply to more than just a country, this would bind every mage in creation. I am used to saying Wizard instead of mage, so, if I say wizard, please don't get upset. I lifetime is hard to forget. I'm glad to see though, that at least one country has some sense of order in the realm of magic.
Tell me, are wands still used for anything today? I know how to weild a wand quiet well. they were once used for directing magick. Wizards study everything you know, we even managed to break magic all the way down to its base elements. Of course, only beginners need to remember what Elements make what spell, as you progress, it really becomes automatic.
We also discovered, that merely casting spells with your bare hand saps its power as it takes effect. For example, If I were to throw Firballs at the far wall, while still being effective, they would be weaker than when I first cast them. A wand, gives direction and enhances the focus of magic, thereby draining it less as it activates. Back to our fireballs, if I were to pull out a wand, any wand, and cast Fireball at the wall with it, it would be a little weaker yes, such is the penalties of long distance magic, but having directed it with a wand, It is not as weak than if I had bare handed it. Further still, Diffrent materials and diffrent enchantments make the wand give the spell extra benifits, for instance, I belive it would be the artic chill enchantment, If i were to use a wand enchanted with that spell, after the fireball struck, it would cause a chilly blast. the two extremes would cause great damage, possibly even causing the wall to crack, from a simple fireball. Some of the best illusionary wands aren't illusions at all, but a simple combonation of the right spell, materials, and encantments upon the wand." Arcime said, slowly slipping back into teacher mode.
Kaymiril
01-03-2005, 03:13
H'mmm...we must focus our magicks differently...I've only ever heard of wands being used by lower-level human mages...and I've only known my spells to weaken over a great distance...and only close range spells, at that.

"Perhaps the secret was finally learned. We theorized that there might be a way to do it without wands, but we never quite figured out how. Tell me, do modern day mages still enchant Armor and weapons with spells? I know back in the day we did, Oh the weapons we could make by combining our talents with blacksmiths. I myself am responsible for Demonbane. Demonbane was lost to the pits of hell though. I bet it drives them up the wall. Demonbane drives all Demons on the plane its on back to Hell, no matter who is controling them. Since it is in Hell, and its driving them back to Hell, I imagine their all huddled up in a corner somewhere. I also made Starbreaker When you look at the blade, you see the image of a falling star If swung right, it actually causes a star to fall from the sky. Lets see, armor, I made the Knox. It was a special armor that was rumored to be impenitrable. I don't know if it actually was or not, but, in all the battles it was in, its wearer never got hurt. I also made the sheild of the Dark Maze It trapped whoever struck it in a maze of their worst fears and nightmares. Some idiot struck it one time and was never seen again. I made the helmet of genius. It made whoever wore it a military genius. Very rarely was it outsmarted. I also made the boots of Steed. who ever wore those would never be without a mount to ride." Arcime recalled fondly.
Kaymiril
01-03-2005, 03:56
We still do enchant weapons and armor...in fact, the cloth that makes up the clothes I'm wearing makes them resistant to attack spells, cool when it's hot out, warm when it's cold out, resistant to normal physical assaults, and almost impenetrable to bullets. And the Dark Maze...we have a spell that essentially does that, only the victim is trapped within his own mind.

"Intresting. Are new spells crafted? if so, how do you do it? We learned what makes Magic, magic, and thus made the Magi table of Elements. Scientists stole the idea when they crafted the scientific Periodic table of elements. I think I can still recall some of them. We felt it was imperitive to start from the ground up. Whenever I learned of a new spell, I learned its elements first. Thus, I was able to change it as I saw fit for each situation." Arcime asked.
Kaymiril
01-03-2005, 13:13
We gather, channel, and focus energy to cast a spell...generally, first we learn how to cast, and then we use what we have learned as the situation needs it. Thus, we are able to actually modify each spell every time we use it, if need be. Elements of magick...I've never heard of.
C -- "How far does your(White Tower/personal) rune magick go. What schools does it include and exclude. The rune magicks that we are taught extend into every school of magick."
Kaymiril
03-03-2005, 03:52
I -- I'm not entirely sure what you mean when you say "school of magick." We think of magick differently...the elementals, healing, and more than a hundred sub-classes of magick are studied, runes being one of them. We study as many runes as we can from as many sources as we can find, and learn what they do. So I guess you say we can do a little bit of everything...but we aren't as powerful as our spell-based allies.
C -- "With us magicks are divided into schools base on both type and usage. For example nature magic has 3 major schools under. These are: Beast magicks, Druid magicks, and Growth magicks. Also our rune mages are the most powerful of the mages. Rune mages are expected to be able to equal if not better, any mage of the same level in any aspect of their school."
Kaymiril
03-03-2005, 04:04
The runes have a limit on how much power they can channel, and how much they can do...and the very nature of our magick requires that we use tupora fashka, rathar than fashka. Mages of most other classes can draw upon outside energy...therefore, the only limit on their ability to cast is what amount of energy do they have the ability to handle?
EDIT OOC: That's it for me tonight. Good luck, laddie.
C -- "You used some words I didn't understand could please tell me what these words tupora fashka andfashka mean in (english/language they were using). I think I understand but I want to make sure. The reason our(his) form of rune is able to match/beat the equal level of other mages is it's drawn from the rune itself, the caster and the free floating magick in the air."

"Well, lets see here, Lady warfare might be able to better explain the Magi Elements to you better. They origanelly stemmed from early magic. You know, doing a little dance around a bonfire throwing some powder on a flame to make something happen. Well, as it turns out, they eventually discovered, that they acually had power inside of them, as a result of doing these things over a period of thousands of years. It wasn't much, nothing on the scale of what you, or I weild, but power all the same. They had no idea what to do with it. Then one day, the first Wizard was born. We gave him the title of first wizard, because he was the first one to use Magick as we know it today, It wasn't Merlin either, actually it was a man by the name of Baccob. He actually studied the power within him. He found out that be simply keeping the Fire, the wood, the air, and the little dance around it in mind, he could simply point and throw a Fireball. thus, he called several others like him, and taught him what he discovered, but that was a mistake, because everyone wanted the most power, the most spells. It threw everyone into a massive power struggle, however, it is also where most of todays basic spells came from. at the time, they were considered the most powerful ever. Eventually, Earthquake was discovered when an enterprising mage combined the Elements of Fire, Rock, and water, into a single thought and channeled it throw his power. Before he could do anything to find out what it would do, a massive Earthquake leveled his entire tower, and nearly killed him. Thus it went on. The Magi Elements are tangible like Scientific elements, but, you really have to understand each one physically, in order to build Magic with them. Slowly over the Decades, some Wizards did claim to be able to make new spells without Elements. And it was true, the old Wizards could not figure out how they did it. Around that time Merlin was born. He crafted 60% of all the advanced and expert spells you cast today. Towards the end of his life, he found me, sensed my power that rivaled his own, and taught me what he knew, lest I destroyed myself with my own power. We both knew how to craft spells without elements, but, one night I had a dream, where it came from, I do not know, but, I was wandering through a cave in this dream, when I came to its end, and upon the wall at the end, was half a plaque, containing the two most poweful spells in existence, but I could only see their elements, and not their names. Suddenly I woke up. I could not get that plaque out of my mind. I searched all the great librarys of magic, No matter if I was welcome there, or I had to force my way in, something was driving me on to find out the other part of the spells and learn them. But I never found them in a library, so I sat in my own tower to figure them out, while Merlin passed away. I took a break, only to see my old teacher buried in his crypt. I know where its at, and only I know where it is at. Powerful artifacts were buried with him that limits Death's power when it physically manifests. If Death were able to find Merlins grave and open it, he would stop there ever present limits on his power. Thats the only wat they work, is when they are worn by a deceased Wizard. The Secret location of his Crypt died with me, and thats the way its going to stay, lest the prophices come true. we've thwarted Death's return to power for well over 5,000 years, we will not let him come back now. Anyways, getting back to my current old man story, I sat there thinking about it when I realized, The new Wizards weren't making spells without elements, they were there all along, these two were simply missing some. The only reason New wizards, and now a days, Mages, thought, think they didn't, don't need elements, is because your so intrinsically familier with them naturally, that you don't even think about it when making a new spell, you just know what elements to add in with out really thinking about it. So, I thought about these as an enlightened new, old wizard. I realized, that they were both missing one crucial lynchpin element to make them work. Out at what was to become the final battle for Magical power, the battle on the plains of Endess, I figured out Meteor. the battle had risen to the point that if something wasn't done, All magick users would die. Then suddenly out of nowhere, one of the two uncompleted spells snapped into my mind. I realized, all it needed was stardust. I had no idea what stardust was, but I figured it must come from the mysterious reaches of Outer space. I could suddenly see the entire spell clearly, it was named Meteor. Having no Idea what it did, but unable to help myself, I cast it. My voice rang across the plains with the word Meteor. everything stopped. All the wizards laughed at me. They were going to all cast spells at me and kill me on the spot, when we all heard something burning in the sky, we all looked up, and there were giant flaming meteors in the sky. we all decided right then and there to put aside our squabbles for now and flee for our lives. No one dared to lift their finger in anger after that, we realized we had taken it too far. the other spell still stayed on my mind though. It wasn't until Death tried to rise against the Living that I figured out Ultima. I was about to be killed by Death, when the unfinished Ultima spell came to mind. I was actually upset that it did, I wanted soemthing restorative to chase Death away with, but, thats what was missing, the one element no one ever thought to use, we all used hate a plenty to create spells, but, I was suddenly filled with compassion for every living soul who was going to survive in my place. Thats when it clarified, It was called Ultima, and it was the most powerful spell a mortal could cast, and it could only be cast with love. The word escaped me like a whisper, and I almost died anyway, as I was at the center of the spell. I Taught my student the spells, but, they slowly faded from memory. I am glad to see that they are known again, for you never know when Death might once again try and destroy every living thing again." Arcime rambled on like the old man he was.

I'm sure that I can cast it with great ease, but, there is no love I can cast it with. I have had to grow up in the hollows just east of here. A place where you can say anything but hope. This is quite possibly the main reason I study soul and dark magicks. I don't think I'll ever be able to cast Ultima. I am one of those people who have given up hope and can live without it." Fashka is the "free magick in the air." Tupora fashka is the energy within the mage. H'mm...well, your mages are human...so I suppose that the runic magick would perhaps be greater than the elemental magicks they can weild. I doubt you could go head to head with an elvenoid...but human...it could work.

While we have never been able to test our theory, it is commonly belived that the humanoid races as well as the human race interbreed to such a degree that both human and humanoid races vanished, as there was one multiple humanoid races and now there are none, as well as no trace of an exodus or genocide."
