She smiles, and the general feeling of I could tell shifted through their bond. "As have I."

He smiled,"Quite how we manage is a mystery, but one worth finding the answer to"

"I would say so...but it works for us."

He laughed,"Yes... we are indeed the oddest couple ever"

"But it works."

He rubbed her back,"Yes, indeed it does"

She kisses him again. "It feels good to be home."

"It does, doesn't it... you miss it when you go away, even for a week"

"Even as enjoyable a week as it was...for the most part."

"Yes, most of it was good. I had a great time"

She rests her head on his chest, comfortably.

He stroked the top of her head, as well as her back, concentrating on her spine and maximising the senses in that area

She runs a hand up his torso to his cheek, and gently pulls him in for a kiss.

He smiled as she pulled him in, and kissed her deeply, not wanting to let it finish, not wanting to leave to go to class or anything like that

She drew out the kiss as well...soon enough, they'd have to get up...but not yet. Not quite yet.

After what seemed like an eternity, he broke away reluctantly,"It's time, unfortunaly"

"Then I guess I'll see you at the end of the day."

"You will, I'm sure of it"

She gets up. There's work to be done during the day.

He gets up, dresses, kisses her once more, then leaves and goes about his buisness

Class with Vedt is harder today.

By the end of the class, he was struggling to keep up

But class is finally let out, and the students free to go.

He couldn't suppress a sigh of relief once he was out of Vedt's earshot... that had been hard.

Rhenna's in one of the nearby rooms, getting ready for her class of the day.

He stopped off for a moment, before the class came in,"How you doing?"

"Pretty good. Backwork's almost done...I should have it finished in time for dinner."

"Would you be free to join me then? It get's lonely, eating alone"

"I think it might be possible to join you. But you know I'd come and eat with you if you came and reminded me of the time."

He shrugged,"You had alot of work to get through, I know what you're like. I'll come and find you just before I go for dinner, see if you're done, alright?"

"All right."

He smiled, and kissed her briefly, before heading off to a training room to spend the afternoon

And afternoon wears into evening...

About six, he left the room to go and find her, eventually coming up behind her and putting a hand on her shoulder,"Evening"

She was just finishing what she was working on, and putting it away. "Good evening."

"All done?"

"Just barely, but yes. This evening is free."

He smiled,"Glad to hear it"

She stands up. "Well, let's go."

He took her hand, and walked with her to the canteen, where the meal was exquisite, being prepared by Rendelmar's best cooks

But it was still good...these kids were creative.

"ONce more, don't touch the orange stuff," he said, smiling as he did so

"Exactly."

"Does anyone actually know what it is?"

"I don't think so."

He laughed slightly,"I was wondering, what were you setting up earlier?"

"Today's object lesson and experiment. It's pretty complex...eighty year old students."

He held up his hand,"Nothing complex, please. I barely understand basic magick, I doubt I could deal with the more advanced levels"

"Don't worry about it, James."

"What, the fact that I can't deal with basic magick?"

"Are you having a hard time in your classes again?"

A vicious stab of the fork,"Is it that obvious?"

She takes his hand gently and rubs her thumb along its back. "You act so much your age at times, James. Don't you know that when you have the most difficult object to over come, you grow the most in ability and in understanding?"

"Taking into account the following things: number one, I am only human. A human is shorter lived, and thus used to achieving more in a shorter space of time. Despite a greatly extended lifespan, I am still, fundementally, human. Secondly *voice softens* I know you're right, and I know that I should see this as a learning expeierence... but sometimes, I wonder why I bother"

She releases his hand. "There are many things you have yet to learn, Cougar. Patience being the foremost among them. Do you have any idea what percentage of your population, if given the same training you've had, at your level of raw talent, would be at the level you are now? Not even two percent."

The name 'Cougar', coupled with the tone in her voice, kicked something in him. For a moment he was speechless. He saw himself from a new perspective... hers. To her... he was a child... always had been, always would be. In terms of magick at least. He knew, in his heart, he was behaving like one... he'd never thought he would look at himself like this. A spoilt, bratty child, used to a certain way, inflexible in his ideals. He turned his eyes downwards, ashamed of himself

"Rhenna... I'm sorry. I know everything you say is true"

"James...we don't look down on you for being what you are. We've all been proud of your progress. You can't tell me that you became what you are in a matter of a few months. It's taken everyone here decades to get to their level of magick, and you've seen just how fast we push everyone. Do you think you're the only one struggling? You have to struggle before you can grow. Growth is painful. Growth is hard. However, it is ultimately rewarding, and it happens faster and with less trouble if you accept the struggle and try to overcome it, instead of feeling sorry for yourself."

His voice was soft, quiet, and he still didn't look at her, feeling too ashamed for it to be merited,"I know I'm not the only one struggling, I know you, Renor, hell, even Vedt, are proud of me... I know that growth is hard... I had to grow much faster than I should have done. It is hard... but the end result is still here, still ashamed of what he's done in the here and now, ashamed of how he acts as if he's the only one having any problems"

She reaches out to touch his cheek.

"You're young and easily frustrated, I know...and nothing ever seems like it's coming fast enough. But trust me...you're growing more than fast enough. Ambition is a good thing, in limited amounts. But when learning magick...well...you'll notice how one of my students is missing tonight. He was ambitious too...very much so..and very bright...but not very cautious. This time...it finally killed him."

Costh managed to wake up a few days after his rescue. He was sore everywhere, and he felt like his arms/legs were made of lead. Cracking one eye open, he looked up and croaked out, "Where am I?"

*Random Gray Mage who happens to be checking on him*

"Mithdelmar."

"Wha, how'd I get here?" He asked in a pained voice.

"After you were rescued from an operation that went terribly wrong, you were teleported here, where three higher level medics -- Mith himself included -- worked on seeing to it that you did not die. However, due to the severity of your injuries and how long it took you to be rescued, you will be staying here for a few weeks until you return to full functionality."

"Alright," Costh replied, "Anyway to help get rid of the pain?"

"You are currently on as steady a drip of as many powerful painkillers as we can safely administer to a human. If you are still in pain, there is no more that we can do."

"Alright, what should I do then?" Costh asked as he groaned as a muscle twitched painfully.

"Lay there and try not to move too much. You still have some healing that needs to be done naturally before we can start helping you heal the rest of the way."

"Alright." Costh replied as he closed his eyes and attempted to fall back asleep, the better to make time go faster.

OOC: The following is Build up, nothing more.

IC: Kajeenith was still reeling from the sudden attack.

Suddenly, he lost all form and shape. Fear and terror permeated from him, and he, changed, for not but a second.

"I am The Nameless One, tremble ye gods in fear, for soon I shall come again." Kajeenith/The Nameless One said.

Then he reverted to Normal.

"No. I lost them all. I need more souls, it must be stopped. The Wizards Council shall pay for its interference." Kajeenith said.

The mage left. A different one comes in every couple of hours.

Costh lay there, "Could you turn the lights down or off?" He asked without opening his eyes.

The lights turn off.

Costh fell asleep. He woke up, cracked an eye open, and continued to lay there.

For several days the same routine comes up. Mages in and out once every two hours, meals of roughly not solid food at eight, noon, and six, and lots of painkillers.

Costh did his best to stay asleep as much as possible, but the bed rest was slowly driving him stir-crazy.

When they'd judged him healed enough, they cast a few more spells to help him further, and the next day started physical therapy.

It was going to be a long process before he regained full mobility, and then he'd be sent to Ishrem to ascertain that there were no resulting problems with his magick.

Costh threw himself into the therapy with a vengence, the chance to do something, anything, was vastly preferable to bed-rest.

He wasn't allowed to throw himself into the therapy with too much of a vengeance, as it could do more harm than good.

Costh pushed himself as much as the medics would allow, he didn't want more bed-rest.

Some medics found this quite amusing. Others just wanted the impatient human out of their way more than the human himself did.

During one of his sessions, Costh asked a medic, "How much longer do you think I'll be here?"

"Until Mith says that you are fit to go."

"Any ideas when that might be?" Costh asked as he continued to follow the therapy regime.

"Up to a month."

"Crap." Costh cursed as he kept up the regime.

"Do you have any idea what was done to you? That's enough for today."

"Not really, nor do I want to know." Costh replied as he headed back to bed.

"Then trust me...this is entirely necessary."

"I shall bow to your wisdom, but you must excuse me if I don't actually bow." Costh said as he limped back to bed.

The mage rubbed her temples. "Ele h'ros nind o'goth l' rivvil a natha rivvil k'lar?"

Costh grinned, "P'wal dossta l' alurl." He replied in badly accented/grammered drow as he collapsed on the bed.

"Surely they can teach you to walk again in your own country?"

"Would you seek out a swordsmith that concentrates on volume or skill?" Costh asked, "While they could, the powers that be, have decided that this is a better place for me to heal and recover."

"I would not 'seek out a swordsmith' at all. We are not armed here."

The medic checks his vitals, reintroduces the painkillers (along with a sedative, for good measure) into Costh's blood stream, and leaves.

Costh fell asleep and would wake whenever the seditive the medic had given him wore off.

She reaches out to touch his cheek.

He nodded, not moving his hand from where it was unless she moved hers,"Figures. I'm still sorry... for everything"

"Don't be...almost half of our students die before completing their training...and there are still things you need to learn. I forget, sometimes...just how young you really are...or that you're human."

"I know theres so much for me to learn... and thank you. For forgetting my age, or that I'm human... it means alot to me"

She smiles slightly. "I know the ears should be a dead givaway...but you normally act older."

He coughed slightly, before smiling,"Thanks. To you, I'm a child... to humans, I'm a fully fledged adult. It's weird how things change"

"To Drow, I'm an adult...to humans, I should have long disintegrated into dust."

He smiled a little more,"Like I said long ago, the only difference is perception"

"That is true."

He squeezed her hand softly,"Thanks for kicking me into shape"

She gives him a slight smile. "I'm your wife. What else was I supposed to do?"

"It was the only thing you could do"

"Well, I could have let you keep it up, but then I would have had to put you in with the younger children for the night."

He smiled,"I know you would have done it as well"

"I would have...and I could have...but I had the feeling that you'd much prefer sleeping in your own bed tonight."

"You'd be right on that one... very right in fact"

"I'm only rarely wrong."

"I'll second that one... in fact, I have trouble naming incidents where you were wrong since I met you"

"I've been wrong a couple of times...confusing times...but I have centuries more experience than you do."

"Don't think I forget that... the looks you get when you say that your wife is three hundred plus years old are enough to make you never forget," he said, smiling

She laughs. "That would explain the hatemail saying 'old crone' on it."

"You should try looking through the 'Junk' folder on my message box... the amount of hate, pleading and whatever else is quite extensive... they've even started sending curses in Snakese"

"You want to send some back in Dragon?"

"I've found responding only makes them worse. I just have them all go to 'Junk' now, and clean it out once a day"

"Probably the best way."

He laughed,"Allow me to show you todays collection"

He blinked his left eye once, then the iris began to glow slightly, green energy behind the eyeball. It projected the image of the 'Junk' file onto a flat - non existant screen, which was still touch sensetive,"Theres some fairly insulting stuff in there"

"It looks it. Better not let me read any of them, or the senders might find themselve the recipients of some rather unpleasant spells. Not exactly curses...for the most part."

He clicked his fingers, and the entire file was deleted,"And that is that... for another day at least"

"Then I think we should go somewhere and not worry about it."

He shut off the projection, his eye returning to normal, before saying,"Anywhere in mind?"

"Anywhere. We have the entire city."

He smiled, and stood up, taking her hand in his,"Alright... we'll just see how it goes"

She stands. "That sounds like a good plan."

He smiled slightly, and began to walk. Quite where they were going, he wasn't sure, but something told him they'd end up somewhere that was nice... to them anyway

She lets him lead, pick the turns, etc...and then she got the idea to teleport them to the cavern...which she acted on.

She teleported them whilst he was in mid stride. As his foot hit the rock 'floor', he smiled,"That was interesting, I've never teleported whilst walking anywhere"

"It's not too hard." She smiles back at him.

"It's a weird sensation, I'll give it that much... what made you want to come here?"

"We haven't been here in a while."

He put his arms round her, clasping his hands together at the base of her spine,"It's very quiet... and not exactly a frequented place"

"Only ones who can access it are Vedt, Renor, and me...Renor never comes, he's far too busy...Vedt never comes, he doesn't like it in here."

"So, essentially, you're the only one who ever comes down here"

"And only rarely."

He smiled, his face half illuminated by the odd light-emitting crystals and also by the faint white light from his eyes,"It's a good place to come if you want to be alone... or alone with someone else"

"A very good place...away from all the distractions and demands of living with and near other people."

He nodded,"Isolation can sometimes be good for you... but not too often"

"There's not time for it often...but every now and again...when you're frustrated...or all caught up for once...it's very welcome."

"I know the feeling... but I do different things"

"Yes...you're far more physical in your relaxation. And often come back bruised."

"I'm bruised most of the time, that's a given"

"I've accepted that since shortly after we were married." She slips her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder.

He was about to say something, but then decided not to. He sighed happily, and rested his head against hers, his eyes closing slightly

Her mouth turns upward slightly. "Comfortable?"

He murmered slightly,"You could say that, you seem it as well"

"I've been less comfortable, yes."

He smiled, his lips brushing her ear,"Good to hear"

Her eyes close slightly, and a kiss lands softly on his cheek.

That kiss, as small as it was, was significant to him. It meant that earlier transgressions, whilst not forgotten, was now firmly in the past. His smile widened, and he kissed her cheek as well

Her eyes are halfway closed. She's comfortable standing there with him.

He tightened his arms round her very slightly,"That makes this just that little bit more special than it already was"

"Yes, true." She lifts her head off his shoulder, but doesn't move, otherwise.

He adjusted his position to allow her head to leave his shoulder, then looked at her. He saw how her eyes were half-closed, a sure sign she was comfortable, and verging on slightly more relaxed... she led a very stressful life. He couldn't stop his slight smile from increasing by a fairly large amount

She smiles back. "And what are you smiling at?"

His response was curt, but not in a nasty way. It was just the only response he had.

"You"

"Are you, now?" She kisses him softly.

He kissed her back, chuckling,"Is that a problem?"

"No."

He put one of his hands on her cheek, his thumb rubbing softly,"I didn't think so"

She tilts her head slightly into his touch.

He continued to smile, and rubbed her cheek slightly harder, leaning in to kiss her

He thought about this for a moment, then kissed her softly,"I'm tempted to say get out of here now... but staying a little can't hurt"

She smiles and kisses him back. "Then we'll stay a bit."

He created a futon out of the flame and lay back on it, which in turn pulled her with him,"I may come here more often... it's actually quite nice, so long as you like the dark"

"Yes, it is...I see you've learned something new."

He laughed slightly,"Somethings just come to me, others I have to work at. This took a while to master"

"No doubt." She kisses him and arranges herself comfortably. "I bet you didn't see yourself doing anything like this with your flame when you met Renor."

He kissed her back,"I wasn't meant to be there more than four weeks"

"And you've been here a couple years."

"I can't complain... I've learnt so much here, besides other things," he said, smiling wryly

She smiles back at him. "Like what other things?"

"Well... off the top of my head, getting married would have to rate as extremely high"

"Well...it might, yes."

He raised an eyebrow,"Only a 'might'?"

"Well...considering that it is considered a life-changing event..." she smiles and kisses him, forestalling his next comment.

He was about to say something, but instead kissed her back, his eyes closing as he did so, his hands running down her back

Her eyes close as well, and she lets the kiss linger as she cuddles close. He'd be able to feel her start to warm up.

He smiled, still kissing her, as he felt her body mold to his, and begin to warm up in the process

Times like these are rare indeed... too rare for our liking

When the kiss ends, she lays there with him, a dark contrast against the White Flame.

First, little aldur's powers were sealed. Then, just a month before the birth of his Aunt, Aris, Little Aldur's Domains were locked in place, as he became old enough to handle that part. As a sign of this though, his two domains combined in a single simple spell. It manifested as a sneeze, nothing more. Littke aldur sneezed at the sky, it flew on and on, and out into space. Just by chance, Or was it fate, It found nothing in its path, except the neighboring planet of Kamigawa. Kajeenith felt it coming, but didn't know what it was, nor did he have any idea he had a nephew. Little Aldur's spell hit Kamigawa smack on the surface, and sealed the entire planet away from everything else for an unspecified amount of time. Kajeenith was highly upset.

Then, little aldur learned to walk, thus were unlocked, the most basic fundimentals of Time and space Magick. and he ran around, oddly faster than anyone could catch him. Until an enterprising Time wizard sped himself up.

After that, it was common to find two Time and space Wizards trying to follow little aldur, when he was allowed to wander that is.

On one occasion, he sped time up around mommy's flower garden, another time, he somehow unerringly sent a nice little spell towards SEP that would have made it night permanetly, due to the fact that Day was shortened to approximatly one half of a nanosecond. Fortunatly, it was caught and countered before it got to far.

Then, wanting to visit Granny, he started twisting space around Riptide drawing it directly towards SOL on a collision course with Earth. It was at that point that Warfare put a little necklace on little Aldur, sealing his powers until he was older.

It couldn't be unlocked by normal means either. It was locked in two diffrent times, in two diffrent places, at once. It was also too small to lift over the head. Thus all was safe, from the terror of, Little Aldur.

As she relaxed and warmed up, Rhenna kissed him again, teleporting them back to their room.

He looked around as they teleported into the room,"Home sweet home"

"Pretty much."

"It is much more comfortable than that futon though"

"I don't know..." She takes the end of a lock of hair and brushes it down his nose and cheek. "I was comfortable."

He smiled as she brushed her hair down his cheek,"But you're still comfortable here"

"True...then again, this has been my room for a while now."

"Hasn't it always been your room?"

"For about three centuries...always by your standards."

He smiled,"To me, always has only been, what, the past few years"

"True."

He took the lock of hair from her, and rubbed it across her cheeks, leaning in to kiss her

She kissed him back, taking the time to enjoy it. After all...they couldn't spend this much time together every day...or even often.

As the kiss continued, he unclasped her hair, letting it cascade over her back

Well, I saw that coming.

One of her hands was holding him to her, while the other played with the hairs at the back of his neck.

He relaxed, his eyes falling shut as she played with the hairs on his neck,"Mmmmm... that feels good"

She smiled, touching her forehead to his.

"And here I thought it tickled."

He kissed her softly,"It's a bit of both really"

She kissed him back, cuddling closer. "Then I guess it just depends on how you feel on any given day." She smiles.

He held her close,"Must be one of those days"

"H'mmm...I guess it must be."

"Oh well, I'm not complaining"

"No...probably not." She kisses him again, softly.

He kissed her back, letting it linger some.

Rendelmar was peaceful for once...everyone there that belonged there, and everyone at rest.

He lay there, a smile on his face, his eyes half closed. His arm was round Rhenna, and he felt extremely content with his lot. Despite arguements earlier in the evening, they'd managed to smooth it over. However, he also knew that he had to leave in two days... duty calls for a solider at the most inoppurtune times. Still, he had two days to enjoy

"Worry about your next assignment in the morning, James. Not tonight."

Her voice was barely a murmur...half warning, half request.

He nodded slightly, and drew closer to her, all worry dissapating in an instant

She kissed him, glad he'd decided to at least postpone worrying. For this brief time, in the middle of the night in her native city, with his arms around her, all was right with her world.

He kissed her back, and lay there. It may not have been his native city, his native land... but still, it felt more like home than his own house

She lays there for a while, awake and comfortable, before finally drifting to sleep.

He let her fall asleep first, then gradually drifted off himself.

Several years pass.

The children of Rendelmar grow up some more, and as all things must, the worlds progress.

Cougar had, of course, eventually recovered from the events of six months previously. His power was now far in excess of what it had been. His control was... well, it to had increased. It was far better than what it was, is all one can truly say. Now, he continued as he had for seven years, as a student, a solider and a loving husband to his wife.

The training in Rendelmar was as rigorous as ever, with teachers trying to help their students perfect their control.

He'd spent a little more time in Chathdelmar, and since then had spent his time in Rendlemar, mostly carrying on. Ocaasionally, he was sent out... a war in those six months had cost him two months at home in the time between.

Raven was still working as an assasin, and Eldrad was still disguised as a human, and working at Hoeth, watching everyone and everything.

The Masters of the classes were all still at their jobs.

Iliyakim was now the leader of SHADOW Team Gamma, and was keeping them up to standard, or pushing them beyond if he could.

Rendelmar hadn't changed, save for a few deaths and a few new additions, and Monian was now old enough to start learning magick.

And thus we start here, six months on. Raven had been deployed, the target was set, a highly corrupt buisness man embezzeling funds into pirating on the less frequented trade routes. At least, to Snake Eaters knowledge. And this is how he found himself on Tiravano, the rain common to the planet pouring down around him, sliding down his waterproof jacket. His black hair, which he had grown out slightly, but was still fairly short. He shook himself, and climbed onto the bus, his prescense unnoticed. He was heading out into the countryside...

Tari pulled the hood of her cloak a little lower, against the heavy rains falling on Tiravino.

According to the Silver Class, he was here.

Legal justice couldn't touch the man...so let Death deal with him. Violence, extortion, and threats against Kaymirilian merchants was NOT to be tolerated.

And so she walked, slipping through the streets like the shadow she might have been, on towards her goal.

Raven stared out the window at the pouring rain, and sighed. This man needed to be eliminated... by any means. He knew he was the only Snake Eater on this assignment... although why they couldn't have sent Snake to do the job was beyond him... the man had dissapeared recently, not being too active.

"Finally, forest terrain. Come on, Keris. We can move faster now."

The glider stretched out, and began a low but fast course toward the area her target was supposed to be.

"What do you think? Poison, decapitation...death by poking little holes in him and letting him bleed slowly?"

*Sound*

"Yeah...poison's the least messy."

Raven was closing in on his target, sneaking into the actual grounds was easier than he'd expected. Now came the fun part... by his very nature, he had to get close. The target had particular habits... one of which was his drink before bed. Always the same, always the same time... habits were what were going to kill him.

Visibility and tangibility are so highly over-rated. As is predictability.

Tari had simply poisoned his drink.

The effects would be brutal, and should start at about the same time the drink hit the man's throat.

Convulsions, spasms, followed shortly by death.

Raven froze. A figure, coming down the corridor. And he was in the open

He dived into the alcove, and held his breath.

It was merely...a shadow. It paused, and seemed to "look" at him, before continuing on. It touched the decanter, and then settled into a different shadow in the room.

He shook himself,"It's just a shadow, it's just a shadow"

He crept along the corridor, and added his own poison to the drink... now he would wait. He crept back into the corridor, having defeated all the security systems, and waited.

The target eventually came along the corridor, and as predicted, downed the drink in one. How long would the poison take... he didn't know. He had to wait it out.

Dammit! I don't know what sort of effect his poison would have with mine! They might even cancel each other out. Dammit!

But all she had was to wait.

The target sat there for a while. No adverse effects. He simply got up, and went to bed. It looked as if Tari's suspicions were confirmed. Raven cursed softly, and moved up to a more secure location. He had to wait for the target to sleep now.

"I should have locked you in that closet."

The voice was soft, from the shadows.

He jumped, and then paused,"Great... I've got a mage behind me, who is seemingly very angry"

"Irritated, yes. Stay here."

She vanished from the room, and appeared at the foot of the target's bed.

All he would be able to sense was a howling wind by his room, before the windows closed and the shutters latched.

Then, a bright light appeared at the foot of his bed, with a dark figure in the center.

Tari cast a spell, almost necromantic, that involved sucking the spirit out of a body.

The heart still beat...the soul forcibly lingered...but there was nothing there.
