"I cannot and will not make any instructor teach any student. The Masters here all hold the right to refuse any student. It is up to the student to search out his instructor and then to convince them to take you on. If you cannot find a Spirit Master, then you might not be studying the right field of Magick. I cannot teach you myself until I get the recomendation from one of the Masters telling me they have taught you all they can. The Knowlege I possess could accidently destroy everything around here as far as the eye can see."

Galvenor looked regretful.

"It would put you into mortal danger if I were to teach anyone before they were ready."

I am sorry I did not intend for you to force anyone to teach me. It is just that there are so many different mages so I was wondering how to know those who could best teach me. I was just so confused. that is why i was first giving a basic discription of what i know about my magick. so could you direct me as to which colored robes i should look to?

"Now there is the sticker. Each culture here has it's own way of determining who is in that sphere. Kaymiril uses robe colors, Snake Eaters uses their own method, ect... There is no way you can point at a specific color of robe and say they are Spirit Masters."

Galvenor chuckles.

"Hell, we don't even use robes. We find them confining and wear whatever is comfortable."

"Like I said earlier, every society uses different markers to designate who practices what. Part of the challenge of persuing your career is to locate your future masters."

Loki nodded and stepped a few feet away to give himself some room. Realizing it still wasn't enough room he turned back to Eldrad, "Excuse me, sir, but I would rather be outside where there is more room." He then disappeared from sight and reappeared outside in an open courtyard. While he waited for the others began thinking what he should do and straightening his hat, again...

Then he began his demonstration...

In front of him a small orb of fire began to grow until it was a little more than a foot in diameter. The flames raged out as they grew in intensity, eventually becoming hot white. Suddenly the heat from the white fire disappeared as the white orb of fire turned into a freezing ball of ice.

Loki's body was alight with electricity as small charges jumped on his clothing. Those charges suddenly shot out from him in a continuous stream of electricity and hit the ball of ice dead on, smashing it into oblivion. As the ball of ice smashed, the small pieces left behind turned into a flurry of snow which began drifting towards the ground. A strong wind picked up and swirled around Loki, sending most of the snow higher into the atmosphere where they could no longer be seen. The few flakes of snow that were able to reach the ground, melted harmlessly and in their spots beautiful roses grew.

When Loki looked up again from the flowerbed which he had created, he saw the snow that had reached the heavens was now falling back to the ground, but this time they were white feathers; falling harmlessly to the ground as the wind disappeared. His face tightened up slightly as he tried something, but apparently the outcome was not as he wanted; the feathers dropped slightly faster, but not by much.

Everything he had done thus far disappeared as he cleaned his 'canvas' so as to perform more magick. The sky went suddenly black, all the stars gone from sight, save one; slightly to the north of him, a small star in the sky began glowing in brightness until it would have outshined every other star had they been there. Then it too disappeared from sight behind the darkness, but in its place a much smaller light was seen descending towards Loki. As it got closer it was evident that the bird was no ordinary one; it was very mystical looking and it had an aura about it. The bird continued its dive, picking up speed as it went until there was a flare of blinding light that dispersed the darkness. In the birds place, sat a mystical hammer that began flying, head over butt, towards Loki. Then another and another. Three hammers made there way towards the young one and soon they began circling just above his head.

Loki reached his hand up to grab one, but finding it out of range he tried to stand on his toes and then subsequently jumping; none of which worked. He blinked and he began levitating ever so slightly into the air so that now when he reached he could grab one of the hammers. As he did so, the other two hammers disappeared and the one in his hand became solid and real looking.

Slightly tired from everything which he had just performed, he simply tossed the hammer onto the ground, creating a small fissure, and then was done. Taking a deep breath, Loki turned back towards Eldrad and looked up at him, waiting for his response.

IC: He watched, he watched them all. That was all he did, was watch. The man in the white business suit summoned a black lotus flower to his hand, ans sniffed it. Still, he watched, silently.

Chainer could not sleep, so he decided to wander the grounds. The man in the business suit was QUITE conspicuous amongst all the rest of the Mages and sundry denizens of the Tower.

"You there. Are you looking for someone, or just flaunting power that many among my people would kill you for?" He wasn't being confrontational, he was being truthful, among the Dementia Summoners a Black Lotus was a source of ready power, and prolific power. "Others of my race would attack you for the power contained in that simple flower."

As for me, I have no name to call my own. though some call me The Shadow Lord. Even then, that is not really my name. It more refers to what I can do. If you must call me something, then simply call me Shadow.

To kill over a flower, simply for power. Some weaknesses, never change, some dreams never happen. It is comforting to know, that somethings never change." Shadow said.

The young mage led Ri-an to a small park.

It had a fountain in its center, which fed into a small spring that sunk beneath the ground near the park's edge.

The plantlife was lush and verdant. The grass was thick and soft, and a rich blue-green color peculiar to the planet.

Trees and flowering bushes stood in their places, all well kept.

There were only a few people there...some of the healthy, in a city of the sick.

________________________________________________________________

"My, goodness. You poor man, it must have hurt terribly." Marill said. The kind, caring soul that she was, Marill could not stand to see any living being in any semblance of pain. Not even Mana-born creatures attacking her suffured for long.

"Allow me, to remove your pain, your suffuring, and make you whole again." Marill said.

she closed her eyes, and focused her will upon the the energy in the air around her. The Pyromancer would feel a pleasant tingleing sensation, and then, nothing. a quick look at himself would reveal no burns at all, and in fact, he would be in remarkably good condition, ready to go out and try that spell again. Marill however, was covered in the burns the man was afflicted with. She kneeled in pain, and knelt down beside the bed, grasping it fpr support. It took er a minuet to gather her will, then cast a second spell, and the burns, were gone.
She stood up.

"With a little more practice, I can do the second spell on another, rather than transferring it to myself. The first one is dangerous to do, depending on what is aflicting the person.

OOC: Quick explanation:

Marill transferred the Pyromancer's entire condition to herself, giving the Pyro her general good health condition. Marill then used another spell to return herself to a regular good health condition. The second spell, is a good spell all purpose spell, but really is quite limited. The first spell is dangerous, because if the target is about to die from something, then Marill would actually Die without being able to do anything, by casting that spell.

Shrowded inside thick black robes which almost made him seem immaterial was the deformed corpse of Toops Shaman Groff who was followed slowly by his small Grobble apprentice, Groff kicked the small beast into action as he made his way to the Tower he had heard so much about.

Just 4 days ago he had killed himself so that he might be able shock the less intelligent creature into some form of majickal ability, what an utter disaster, it was his 6th resurection and it was only fortune that his former apprentice had been on hand to bring the Shaman back to life.

The Demon inside Groff made another his frequent attempts to escape but was cut down by Groff, another scar appeared on his already bloody face, the Shaman and his Pupil entered the Tower hoping to find some Majickal tutor which could teach this runt to do Majicks.

Meanwhile, the mage herself had paused to regard some unusual flowers...a geomancy student's work, no doubt.

It was lovely in its oddness, a sort of imperfect but poignant statement about life.

She ventured off to look around. She found an empty room, laid down on the bed, and fell asleep. Eventually, the lights went out.

Dream:

She awoke to find herself in a temple. Vast and empty. She was running from a terrible shadow. It scared her.

"Hiss, hiss, my dear. I am free, and you will not escape me." It said.

"No!" she screamed.
She awoke, eventually, with a start.

The spell flickered. Relieved that nothing was in her room. She lit a torch, and fell asleep into a more restful slumber.

"Fine."

She turned away, heading back to her courtyard.

Taking down the sign, she looked for a good place to sit. Finding one, she leaned back and closed her eyes.

She had killed...acted violently, without any more provocation than that a necromancer had sought her out to help him with her apprentice.

Was the hatred that ingrained? It was scary.

What would be the consequences of this?

Should she feel bad?

She had never killed anything before...but she thought she was right in killing that. Was she wrong? Was it right?

She sat there...confused. Weeping, not for the death she'd caused, but for her own confusion.

What sort of healer killed like that? Was she fit for any job, much less that of helping Chainer redeem himself?

On Ri-an, she sank into the Ground, and revived herself, refreshed her energy. Too much longer, and things would have become complicated.

Loki smiled as he figured that he had at last found a teacher, at least for the moment. "I will try my hardest, sir," Loki piped up as Eldrad informed him that not many could harness the power he had. "When can we begin?"

"We can begin immediately."

Eldrad took Loki to one side, and then snapped his fingers. To everyone else, it would seem as if these two bodies were now statues, drained of their colour. Eldrad had done something not many could do, and even fewer would attempt... he'd taken their souls to the world of spirits. Not down into the land of the dead, which was accessible only by those who had died, but to a plain that souls came just prior to entering that land. Here, everyone was dead... apart from Loki and Eldrad.

"We cannot linger too long here... this spell can have some nasty side-effects if you leave it too long. Now, we are in the realm of spirits. I brought us here because it is much simpler to teach one in these arts on this particular plain then it would be at the Tower."

He led Loki down a narrow path, before they arrived at a place he deemed right,"Now, you have heard of the idea of fashka and tupora fashka, correct?"

Quilae waited until Chainer had gone, then sent her aeagle to get Resven, a young but talented sixth-order, who was expected to come up to Fifth as soon as he'd taken his adult name.

She wasn't really suited for demon banishings...and wasn't supposed to use the spells except in times of emergency.

It was very possible that she'd mis-cast...and that could be very messy. Fortunately, while she couldn't treat herself for it, almost any mage from twelvth - order up could.

She went up to her rooms to wait.

When Resven got there, he ran a quick diagnostic before she even opened her mouth to explain.

"I heard. Kinda foolish...you're first-aid and psychology...not any of this crazy demons stuff...you coulda killed yourself back there."

She shrugged. "Right risk for the right time. Can you rebalance my system so my current patient doesn't know the risks attached to that spell?"

The younger mage was already working. "He won't know the difference if the next time he's scheduled to see you is in a couple of days. Your body's going to pretty much shut down for the next twenty-four hours, after a stunt like that and the most effective treatment."

Quilae's eyebrows rose. "I can't do that. He's coming back in less than sixteen."

Resven shrugged. "You have a sign you want me to put up? Gone to Mithdelmar or something?"

She shook her head. "I don't have anything he'd believe."

"Then where is he? I can tell him the truth and save you the trouble."

She sighed. "I don't know where he is. He's a tall human with a posture that says 'If you aren't someone I want to talk to, you're as good as dead.'"

The sixth-order chuckled. "Oh, that one. He's yours? All right, I'll find him. You sleep."

Resven helped Quilae into her bed, before locking the door behind him and leaving her little corner, seeking out Chainer.

"Yes, I know her. Is something wrong?" Looking at Urza again, "And I TOLD you to shut up."

He approached Urza Planeswalker after Resven and Chainer left.

"Your name is, Planeswalker? Does that mean then, you can get there, to the plane I long to be in, to find, and get to the legendary plane of Shadows, the Shadow Plane? If so, can, can you teach me, how to travel the planes?" Shadow asked.

The basic spells are taught to everyone to test for aptitude...and then the most talented specialize in demon banishing. Quilae was not one of those trained further. Can you see the problems that could occur when she attempted to banish one, untrained and unqualified?"

"There is no real way to ask... when one draws on this energy, the spirits will sense if they are being respected or not. It is innate, and cannot be controlled... at least, in my expierence. AS to making a bond with a certain spirit, it's certainely possible. A loved one, or a close friend, make excellent pairings. However, you must realise, eventually they have to move on to the land of the dead, and even I cannot access their power there. "Okay, I get it, I think," Loki said slowly as his mind wrapped around the idea.

"It's no problem, I would rather be hurried than stuck here," he smiled.

Galvenor looked the strange individual over before answering.

"Yes, that is one of my many titles I seem to have. What can I do for you?"

It took Urza a moment to realize Galvenor didn't speak, and he was hearing his voice in his head.

Galvenor sat at his desk. He painted to the cair opposite him and waited for the stranger to sit. On the wall, a clocked ticked backwards. The sunset shone through the windows even though it was clearly before noon.

Galvenor leaned forward to look at the person seated opposite him.

"We are honored you wish to become part of the faculty here. So, tell me about yourself. A good place to stary is who you are"

Galvenor listened to what the stranger said.

Galvenor recognized the name. He could also tell if Urza was lying.

"Why would you want to teach here if you were the headmaster of your own college? What would you be teaching our students? What troubles might you bring to our walls?"
