Costh headed to the library after saying bye to Shan. On the way he passed by the new slivers.

She smiles softly. "I know."

When the kiss ended, she lay where she was, until she fell asleep.

He smiled as he watched her sleep, stroking her hair softly, before rolling back onto his back, and staring at the ceiling until the early hours of the morning. Then he finally fell asleep, but it was troubled but strange visions, none of which he had seen before.

Of all my Masters, El is perhaps the nicest, and Warfare can't exactly be fit into anyone category, as he has this special knack for insulting you and complimenting you all in the same sentence.

My masters do not put up with arguing, extended questioning, or continous failure. It is expected that you may not succeed the first few times, but after that, it is flat out unacceptable. If any of these conditions arise, they will promptly kick you out, and none of my masters will teach you, ever.

Kaymiril and Balrogga may be stern, but are nicer in the end, well, I don't know about Balrogga for sure, but I'm sure he's probably nicer than me, and Kay IS nicer from what I've seen.

I might be nice in RL, but in Cyberspace, I'm a whole other person....

Rhenna rested her head on his chest, and waited like that until he woke.

When he woke up, he was aware of a weight on his chest. He looked down, and saw her there, her eyes wide open. She hadn't noticed him waking up,"Happened again?"

"Yes...but I remember none of it. Your nightmare looked worse than mine."

He shrugged, as best he could from where he was,"It could've been far worse"

"Far worse? Your muscles were so tense you were having trouble breathing."

Cold water... ice cold if I remember correctly... will do that to you

She sits up, not knowing what to say.

He sat up as well,"Sorry for being abrupt... I'm like that after a nightmare sometimes"

"It's not your fault...most people are."

"I feel sorry anyway *Looks at watch*And it's still only six"

"That's not terribly early."

"No... but I haven't anything real to eat in a few days, been busy working, and breakfast doesn't start truly for a little while"

"Do I have to start treating you like I do the children your age and start making sure you eat?"

She shakes her head.

He laughed,"No, I'm fine just the way I am thank you"

"Sometimes I really don't believe you when you say that."

"I never asked you to believe it... just trust me, alright?"

"How can I trust what I don't believe?"

He was on the verge of retorting, but then his mind clicked in:

He held up his hands in surrender, and swung his legs over the side of the bed,"Alright... you don't have to believe me, or trust me. That's fine" Even though he tried to hide it, his voice was laced with hurt, but it was subtle

"I trust you, James...just not to take care of yourself."

He shrugged slightly,"I'm fine, really... now, excuse me, I've got work to do before breakfast"

She stands up and gives him a kiss, then decides against saying 'don't push yourself.'

"Make sure that you get breakfast, though."

He kissed her back,"I will... don't worry. I'll see you later on"

She nods, stepping back to let him go.

He left his cloak in the room, and went to a training room, working on light running to warm himself up before the day started proper, then settling down to get some breakfast

Rendelmar is always relatively busy at this time of day...students are up and working before they eat.

He finished up his breakfast, watching life move around him, a skill he had perfected whilst working on a singles operation when he was younger, without interfering in the comings and goings of other students. He put the plate in the appropiate place, and moved back to a magickal training room, a trail leading through a mountinous region. He wanted to test himself for a bit... see how much energy he really carried. Phish's lesson had stuck with him, and he set no limits on what he believed he could do anymore

He's uninterrupted during the morning.

He came out of the room, sporting a rather wonderful collection of bruises, though only one was visible, on the back of his hand. Other than that, he seemed to be in perfect shape... but now was without something to do

Actually, he's not, because he has 5 minutes to get to the other side of Rendelmar for that day's class.

Checking his watch, he groaned slightly, just finishing as he arrived from thin air. He checked his position, and saw the others a few feet away. He heaved a sigh of relief... he was early

Vedt enters, and the children take their seats. He glances at Cougar as he passes.

"You need tighter concentration while you teleport or you risk reforming in a different state than you started."

He nodded, knowing why the rebuke had come. He hadn't cocentrated fully, and that was risky. But, it had paid off this once, so no harm had been done

"And think nothing of 'just this once' it was all right, Cougar. I've seen far more experienced mages than you die because of a sloppy teleport."

Cougar didn't show his surprise, but he also took in what Vedt was saying. Much as he disliked him, the man was his teacher, and he listened so he could advance

Vedt started teaching on some abstract method of casting. Most of the drow students seem to understand it...but it isn't something geared for the human mind.

Cougar's brain began to pound, something that didn't often happen. He could understand what Vedt was showing him... but at the same time, he didn't. It was like his brain couldn't process this method. The confusion and strain must have showed on his face

OOC: No, in any way shape or form. This is a thread about teaching of magick... and as you can see, is fairly extensive. You could join by sending a person to the White Tower of Hoeth, IC, and then we could start working.

Vedt looks around, ready to continue his revised-for-Cougar explanation, but wanting to make sure that the human understood.

"The theory of magick that I am telling you of today believes that it is not the ability of a being to contain fashka that determines his or her ability to utilize it as magick, it is this person's ability to channel and amplify it. A person with weak fashka might be able to channel it exclusively from the outside environment, without tapping into his own tupora fashka, and amplify it to up to a hundret times the strength of his own fashka, while a person with astoundingly powerful tupora fashka may not be able to channel it enough to move a pin. A historical example is Rildorath. But an example of the first type would be his companion, Nervim. Arguably the most powerful mage ever produced by Kaymiril, both of his companions survived wounds much more serious than the stab that took him down.
"This theory favors letting fashka flow into the mage as raw energy, then letting it flow back out as magick. It is less tightly controlled than what you have been taught up to this point, and could be more powerful...but the methods you have been taught do not carry the potential penalty of having the spell affect you, as well.
"There is little more you need to know about this theory, unless you wish to try applying it to yourself, in which case speak to myself or Rhenmet. Should ten or so of you be interested, Renor himself will take that class.
"If there are no further questions, you are dismissed."

Cougar noted a few things down in his shorthand notation, making sure he understood everything he had writen before looking back up at Vedt, and matching the gaze evenly. He understood one thing: this was only a theory... but also, if applied, where he would fall, or so he thought. High fashka, with a mid-range natural ablity to conduct it.

He heard Vedt say the class was over, and was among the last out of the room

As they walked out, Jovin reached over to punch Shan in the ear. Shan punched back, and soon a wild but good-natured sparring match was moving through the halls.

Cougar watched with some interest, watching Shan mostly. He saw a number of techniques that he himself had taught him, being used to great effect

An older mage caught the both of them by the back of the shirt.

"Dos zhaun alur taga nindol. Plynn ol ulu l' 'bgualyiz k'lar."

The boys stopped and nodded.

"Siyo." They went off toward the training rooms.

Cougar caught Shan up before he left,"Impressive Shan, you've retained those techniques much better than I expected"

J - "Are you kidding? This guy never forgets anything."

Cougar laughed,"What about you, Jovin? Do you forget easily, or do you have a memory like your friends"

S -- We don't know. He never listens to be able to remember.

Cougar laughed harder,"And you answer for each other... brilliant. No wonder you get on so well."

He left the two boys to continue their fight, and instead returned to his studies, heading to the libary on possible new attacks. Records on magicks similar in nature to the White Flame were there, so all he did was read those, making his own notes where he saw fit

And the day passes.

He looked at his watch, saw it was dinner time, and continued to work. He took a ration bar from his pocket, and ate it carefully whilst browsing on of the works he had found partically useful in developing his power

A hand startd playing with the hairs on the back of his neck, while an arm slid around him from behind.

"You say you haven't had anything real to eat, and then do nothing to change the behavior that caused it. Why?"

He smiled, and turned his head slightly to look at her out the corner of his eye,"I ate a good breakfast, and ate a ration bar for dinner. Therefore, I have had some real food today: at breakfast."

"That's not enough for a human body and you know it."

"Not enough maybe... but I've lived on worse before now, and I'm still here *teasingly*Are you trying to mother me?"

"Not yet, Cougar." She starts to stroke his hair. "Don't make me, though...because I will."

He didn't laugh, hearing the seriousness of her tone,"Alright. I promise to eat more"

"Good. Then you can start by joining me for dinner."

He closed the book, and got up to put it back, making sure he knew where it was, as he wasn't quite finished with it. After he had done this, he turned round and took her hand,"It would be a pleasure"

She smiles and walks with him to the cafeteria.

He sat her down, and then summoned over two plates of that night's dinner, placing them down in front of the pair of them, before sitting down himself

This is nice...I think it's been what? a month? since the last time we had dinner together.

I'd say about that long, yeah... schedules make it difficult

She nods.

*Takes a mouthful, and swallows*Now, that is good food... best for some time in fact

She doesn't say anything, but the look she gives him says "I told you so." She takes a bite herself. "It is good. Must be Ayssi and Valdra's turn to cook."

"They always seem to make the best meals... must be a natural ablity"

Rhenna nods. "Our different abilities let us function."

He savours the meal, but his lack of food recently means he finishs rather quicker than he meant to,"Sorry..."

She smiles. "I knew you were hungry." She sets down her fork.

Talk about ploy to get me to eat... worked though

Ploy? Me? I didn't think it was a ploy if I wanted to sit down and have dinner with my husband every once in a while.

He smiled,"Well, I enjoy having dinner with my wife, just for the record. We should try and do this more often"

She nods. "Yes...and I do believe that you're home for a while yet."

Kajeenith sat on his throne in his temple. A man known only as "The
Executioner" was there.

"Welcome back, my good and faithful servant." Kajeenith said.

"Thank you Milord, I trust your slumber was well." The Executioner said.

"It was troubling. I've seen the darkness rising, and the light fading. I've seen the darkness fade and the light strengthen. It is as a see-saw, this Balance The higest wants kept for now. Neither of them can remain in power for very long, neither of them can stay even. Niether of them are worth anything. Screw what the aligjhty wants, I'm going to show him where he went wrong, then I'm going to rule with an Iron fist and destroy anyone who dares to even think about gain saying me." Kajeenith said.

"Very Good Milord. What of Warfare and his allies?" The Executioner asked.

"Warfare's a little bitch who couldn't think for himself if he was told to. As for his allies, their mostly mortals, mortals are all weak. All the same, It would be foolish of me to pass them off as nothing. I've watched Mortals rise to power over the centuries, and these mortals are no exception. They banded together to defeat Death, they've defeated Kelis Ra, and Loth's followers were destroyed by band of their Dark Mages. Nothing has escaped my notice over the course of my slumber." Kajeenith said.

"And what do you plan to do Milord?" The Executioner asked.

"Send in, the modified Shapeshifter, to Kaymiril. I want to learn their secrets." Kajeenith said.

"Milord." The Executioner said. He got up and left. His giant battle axe hefted on his shoulder. His clothing was black, with caked on blood stains all over it from all those he executed for blasphemy against Kajeenith. His eyes were emotionless, the king of eyes that only sat in a man, who had killed off his emotions, long ago. His Black blood stained hood covered his faace, save for those cold, hard, emotionless eyes.

A note was sent, a being awokened, the next day, a flock of birds landing in Kaymiril for a bite to eat as the flew on through, were startled to see one of their members turn into a wolf and run off to the forest.

The shapeshifter, had arrived.

She nods. "Yes...and I do believe that you're home for a while yet."

He smiled, and put his hand on hers across the table,"You're right... and I hope nothing happens to change that"

"So do I...so do I."

He frowned slightly, and got up, walking round the table to sit next to her,"Is something wrong?"

"No...not at this moment in time, anyway."

He clasped her hand,"Alright... you would tell me if something was though, right?"

She smiles at him, and reaches over with her free hand to touch his cheek.

"If something were wrong, you would know beyond the shadow of a doubt."

He moved his cheek into the palm, smiling,"Technically yes... but sometimes we block things to protect others"

"But only sometimes."

He smiled, curling his fingers round hers,"Only sometimes"

She smiles at him briefly. "So, how did your day go?"

His face fell slightly,"Other than feeling like a complete dunce in class today, it was alright. An IQ of 170, and I need something explained to me in a different way to everyone else... it's embarassing to say the least"

Don't worry about it...every student needs something re-explained every now and again.

He smiled,"I know that... still doesn't feel good"

"They were all at least equally inept at weapons training. Thus, there is balance."

He laughed,"I guess there is a balance in everything" His hand tightened slightly around hers

Her thumb gently brushed across the backs of his knuckles.

He gestured with his other hand, and sent his plate back where it was meant to be. His other hand remained where it was

She smiles. "Let's go for a walk."

"A nighttime stroll... god, it's been, what, a good year and a bit since we last did one of those?"

"Roughly."

Well then, lead on

She stood up, taking his hand, and went into one of the rooms. It was a training room...one of the 'wild ones,' but all creatures had niches at night, and they were kept in those niches until morning.

He walked with her, straining his ears to hear anything,"That feels so wierd"

"These places are safe at night, in case one of the littler ones should get up and have no supervision, and should wander in here on accident."

He nodded,"I'd do the same in that position... still, I'm not used to there being so little noise in a forest at night. Still, a bit of peace and quiet to ourselves is never a bad thing"

"True...we don't get that very often."

No... it's always worth the wait though*kisses her*

She kisses him back, letting it linger a while. "Yes...it is worth the wait."

He held her hand softly, then looked away up the path, which twisted away uphill,"Is it clear at the top?"

She nods.

"Cool. Shall we?"

She moves off slightly (still holding onto his hand) to start walking.

He fell into step beside her, and allowed her to lead him to the clearing. Once they had arrived, he lay in the grass, looking up,"It looks so real"

She sits next to him. "It was meant to. We never see the sun as children...not for real...nor the moon, or stars, nor can we feel the grass under our feet. So places like this were created...not only to teach us how to deal with this foreign situation...but to give us the chance to breathe in a semblence of fresh air."

"Much as I love Rendelmar and the people within... I don't think I could've grown up here if I was Drow"

"But what if it was all you'd ever known?"

She nods, unconciously reaching out to run her fingers through his hair.

He smiled as she started to do this, and closed his eyes, a smile creeping on his face

She looks down at him, smiles, then leans down to give him a little kiss. "You're looking comfortable."

His hand came up and caressed her cheek as she kissed him, drawing it out a while,"You could put it like that, yes"

She smiles softly. "I have no doubt I could."

The Shape-shifter talked to the creatures of Kaymiril. He learned, by way of grapevine what creatures lived around Valshanth. He made his way to The Valshanth, and watched, as nothing more than another innocent creature.
Kajeenith had altered this one in two ways, first, it gave off no sign of any kind of what it really was, at all. Secondly, when it died, its body was preset with a God level spell designed to eat the body in under five seconds to erase the trace of the shape-shifter.

The Shapeshifter watched, and listned. intercepting everything it heard, and every hour, prayed it to Kajeenith, in a manner that would attract very little attention.

She smiles softly. "I have no doubt I could."

He opened his eyes a crack, just enough to be able to see her,"What about you?"

One of the dogs, seeing this strange beast, goes over, growling. It barks at it a minute, then attacks.

He sat up and moved behind her, putting an arm around her waist and gently rubbing her back with the other one

Her eyes half close. "That feels nice."

He leaned in a little closer, so that when he spoke his lips brushed her ear,"It was intended too"

A smile turns up her lips, and she reaches back with her free hand to start playing with the short hairs at the back of his neck.

He closed his eye briefly, then matched his movements to hers.

It feels like ages since we've been able to just sit like this...

How long has it been since we could relax, and not have anything else get in the way... far too long

She turns her head to get a kiss.

And she got one. It was one that spoke of love, and for that moment in time, pure happiness and contentment with the situation at hand

She lets the kiss linger, likewise content.

After a while, he broke it, and put both arms round her waist, resting his head on her shoulder. The artifical moonlight shone into his eyes, and adding to the strange yet natural glow that was visible all the time

She sits there, leaning back against him.

He didn't speak so much as murmer,"WHat you thinking about?"

"That it's been too long since we've done this."

"I'd have to agree with that, my dear. Far too long"

Her hand, soft and tiny, reached out to take one of his larger, coarser ones.

He offered no resistance to her hand, letting it curl around his,"I've had a great evening tonight"

She smiles. "So have I."

He smiled, and turned his head to kiss her

She kisses him back, cuddling closer.

I haven't been this comfortable or relaxed in such a long time... only she can do this

He's feeling better.

He felt himself relaxing, and laid back in the grass once more, his arms still round her

She laid down with him (seeing as how she's being dragged ;) ), about the most comfortable she'd been recently.

He snuggled closer to her, and just relaxed

(When the kiss ends?) She smiles up at him. "Feeling better, James?"

"You haven't called me that in sometime... yes, the answer is yes"

"I called you that this morning."

He sent his mind back,"Long enough"

She smiles. "If you say so."

What time is it?

"Almost ten."

Hm, earlier than I thought then

"What time did you think it was?"

I thought it was about 11

He cuddled closer,"It's nice out here, no?"

"Very. It's one of my favorite places to go."

I can see why... it's beautiful

She nods.

He leaned over her, and kissed her cheek

She turned her head to kiss him properly.

He smiled, and took her hand in his as he let it linger for undefined time

As it ends, she sits up. "This isn't the proper place."

"No, you're right. It's not. I can think of a better place, and I'm sure you can"

"Of course." By the end of her sentence, they were no longer in the outdoor scene.

He looked around, and smiled,"Much better..."

He put his arm across her, staying close,"Well..."

She's cuddled close, with her head on his chest and one hand on his stomach. She rested there comfortably eyes half-closed.

He looked down at her, one hand on hers, and the other on her shoulder blade,"Someone looks happy"

He smiled softly, and lit himself up slightly, just enough to surround the two of them

She smiled, and leaned up to kiss him softly.

He kissed her back and smiled,"Tonight has been... well, amazing. I'm glad we got this chance... let's hope it's not too long before the next"

The shape-shifter flew off like an other bird in a tree. He flew away from the dog, to a new section of Valshanth, and when nothing was around, became a dog. A friendly, cute and cuddly dog that only the cruelest of drow would pass by without petting it.

OOC: Okay, so that last part is an exageration, but its hard to describe the cutness of a little lap dog most royalty in the same type of setting would have.

She nods, halfway between wakefulness and sleep.

The talk around the Valshanth was primarily concerning protocol that a new queen needed to know, and other things servants spoke of...what to cook, when to clean what, etc.

He kissed her forehead, and then stroked her hair softly, willing her to sleep,"Go to sleep, you need it more than me"

The "Dog" peaks into open rooms, trying to see if anything that might resemble records was open. He appeared to be an idly wandering pooch.

Rhenna's eyes close. "You make sure to get some sleep as well."

The four siblings returned to camp, exhausted, yet triumphant.

Four hours later, Rhenna's eyes snap open. She notes the time, and decides to get up. She gives Cougar a kiss, then gets ready for her day, heading out when she's done.

About a half hour after she had gone, he sat up suddenly and violently. No nightmare, but something had caused it... what, he didn't know. He shook his head, and got up, moving around his business for the day

Life in Rendelmar goes on as usual.

By the end of the day, Cougar had been working for a long time. Now, for a change, he sat down and conducted a swift self-diagnostic... nothing wrong.
He shook his head, and went to dinner

Rhenna isn't there yet.

He wasn't eating long, and then when he had finished, he retired to the libary, taking the book he had been reading the previous evening, and settling down to read

Evening passes into night.

By eleven o'clock, he had returned to the room, and was sitting in the bed reading by his own light. It reached 11:30 pm, and he lay there in the dark, wondering where she was

She finally comes back in at midnight. Seeing him lying there in the dark, she moved quietly, to not wake him if he was asleep, then laid down next to him.

"Busy day?"

"Very."

"I was beginning to wonder where you were, thought you'd been sent out"

"Not today."

"I was just nodding off, so you'll have to excuse me if I don't reply"

She nods.

"Sorry... *yawns*... just tired"

"I don't blame you."

"Sorry, just aplogising if I seem abrupt or rude... don't want you getting angry at me"

She reaches out and takes his hand.

He squeezed her hand softly,"Is something wrong?"

"No."

He frowned slightly, but it vanished quickly,"Alright... c'mon, you must be tired as well"

"Somewhat."

The dog whimpers and whines and acts cute and appeasing, trying to be let back in the easy way.

He kept his hand on hers, and slipped into his own dreamworld... not a particulary nice place to be by anyones standards

She drifts off after a while, but wakes up within an hour. She does this five times, before giving up and just laying there.

He woke up after the fifth time, and looked across her,"Now I know somethings wrong. These nightmares again?"

"It must be...but I don't remember anything about it."

"Nothing at all... that is wierd"

She shrugs. "This used to happen all the time when I was little. It doesn't happen so much now, though." She gives him a kiss. "It shouldn't last long...don't worry about it."

Renor told me about the other episodes... and I do worry. It's a fulltime job

You really don't need to. This has never done more than this before, why should it now?

He shrugs,"I don't know everything, so it keeps me on edge. Just my way, you know that"

He kissed her back, then glanced at his watch,"God, it's already six in the morning"

"Feels earlier, but it's true."

He noticed their hands were still intertwined with one another, and smiled.

"We don't have to be up for another hour, in case you wanted to go back to sleep."

No... now that I'm awake, I don't feel the need to return to sleep
