As no final decision has as yet been made I have decided to arbitrarily settle the matter of who gets Austria-Hungry along the lines of GB's Recommendations and the views of the majority of players.

Lesser Ribena, I was looking at the Argentine Navy on wikipedia, and there's a pretty big discrepancy between what's listed there and what you have as the Armada Republica in 1906.

According to your list, Argentina has in service 8 cruisers and 26 torpedo boats.

However, the wiki article says that the ARA maintains 3 battleships, 4 armored cruisers, 2 monitors, 5 cruisers, 6 gunboats, and a sailing frigate.

I'm not sure what a monitor is (possibly the Argentine classification for a protected cruiser), and I don't know how gunboats would be represented in game terms, but it seems that my navy is a good bit larger and more powerful than I originally thought.

This has already been covered, those "battleships" are glorified cruisers that are being called battleships and monitors are civil war era gun ships.

Hmm...now that you mention it, "monitors" being American Civil War-type ironclads is pretty obvious. The monitors and gunboats are all old (1875ish), and two of the battleships are classified as "river battleships." It seems I got carried away at first, though as far as I can tell the French-built ARA Almirante Brown (entered service 1881) is an actual battleship, albeit an old one.

I have double (in some cases triple or quadrouple) checked everyone's navy so they should be correct. Amestria has recalled correctly, a lot of the smaller navies maintained cruisers with large guns and called them battleships, most of these had very weak (often wooden) armour and were useless in blue water situations so I have neglected to list them. The same goes for monitors which I has omitted or classed as torpedo boats as they were little more than floating platforms for guns (and in some cases torpedoes) for use on rivers or coasts.

Though built as a battleship in 1880, the Almirante Brown was highly obsolete by 1906 and just used as a coastal battleship. Take a look at the pictures at:

Though the vessel was kept in service until 1932, it really is quite useless against any other navy vessels around in 1906. It was steam powered and still had some sails, with poor armour and obsolete gun positioning (no turrets, below decks). To be honest your navy is better off without it, using the freed up man power to man other vessels rather than a ship that would be a death trap in any naval engagement.

Nonetheless, there are still several European nations (one of which is Belgium) that are open for claiming (although claiming, it seems, doesn't begin until Monday). Also Mexico and Persia are both open for claiming.

Nope, hehe I've said I wanted Siam from the beggining of talks about restarting. But if you got it first I can live with it.

I'm working on my factbook for the netherlands. I understand that claims will become official tomorrow, so I'll wait with posting till then ;)

BTW, Siam was a pretty decent country. It had a fairly strong army being a bufferstate between the French (Indochina) and the British (Malaya, Burma/British India).

How are we going to work out the maintainence for our militaries? I know I have a lot of Battleships, but I don't know how much they will cost, etc.

Ato-Sara: If you want Serbia (which actually can do quite a bit in the opening years), feel free to take it. I was going to take it as a temporary measure until the WZO or another movement became stronger, but it would be better off with a full time player, although you could take it as a temporary nation if you wanted.

BTW, I would vouch for New Dracora. He's in my Region and a very good roleplayer.
