History
With a new wave of tanks being revealed to the public by many competitors, DMG Military Industries decided it needed to create a next generation main battle tank that could roll over the competition. The Dominion of DMG was also interested in a new main battle tank and gave DMI a multi-billion dollar grant to design and produce the vehicle. All DMI projects were put on hold during the design of the new main battle tank of the Dominion, and it shows as the King Zeus has no competition in the world. After many years of research and massive amounts of time and money spent on the project, the next generation is here.
The King Zeus is built with the latest and greatest in military technology. It combines strength, speed, armor, and advanced systems to become the premier tank on the battle field. Enemies will run in fear when they see the fearsome King Zeus roll onto the battlefield with systems running and guns blasting. The new King Zeus is not a next generation tank… it is beyond the next generation as it opens a new dimension in warfare.
Design
The basis of the tank structure is like that of most tanks (with some adjustments), but its internal design is quite unique. To begin with the tank is designed with angels to deflect waves away from the tank and disperse them into the atmosphere. It is also coated with layers of RAM to absorb all other waves that are not dispersed by the angles. The three man crew consists of a gunner, driver, and commander. The driver and commander sit with their backs to each other while the gunner sits farther behind facing forward. The driver instead of having a periscope or other visual device, is now surrounded by real-time video monitors that allow for easy viewing and complete battlefield awareness. All three crew members are outfitted with the SBRR system in comfortable range of their positions:
The SBRR system is a satellite based reality reproduction system. Internal screens in the tank digitally reproduce the surroundings from thousands of mini cameras located all over the vehicle. The satellite system also allows for the user to look ahead around major obstacles and located a target that is not in the direct line of site. The onboard computer warns about hostile targets in the air and on the ground. It also comes with a missile early warning alert system that can show real time action of the incoming missile or projectile. The SBRR system is also connected to the helmet and fold down visor. The visor is made of two halves – one for each eye – and can be lowered and raised individually. The user can choose between normal view, 180 view, or advanced view: the normal view is what he would see on the window screens, the 180 view gives him a view of behind the vehicle looking back, and the advanced view allows to see ahead and around obstacles to see what lays in store. An onboard voice system allows the user to control the entire system with voice commands – although it is mostly used for weapon targeting and firing.
While the gunner is given primary fire control and command over the targeting systems, the commander has the ability to take control of all of the gunner’s systems if the gunner becomes incapacitated. Likewise, the driver has command overall drive systems and devices, but if the driver becomes incapacitated, control of all of his systems are transferred to the commander. In the unlikely event that all of the crew members become incapacitated or unable to complete their job, the onboard Omni-Sense RX90 supercomputer can take control. The Omni-Sense RX90 is an upgraded version of the VCCS:
A 512 bit encryption allows secure transmission of all signals and messages. An advanced navigation system, which is linked to all allied bases and satellites and radar systems, allows for the system to always know where it is on the battle field as well as the enemy. Military linking and group co-ordination allow for advanced tactical strategy and the VCCS weapon system. The highly advanced onboard weapon system that along with the navigation and linking components, targets the enemies on the battlefield and destroys them. The VCCS communicates with the unknown combatant and depending on the resulting signal it distinguishes friend from foe. If the unknown combatant also has a VCCS then the communication time is almost instant. After finding out that the combatant is a foe, the VCCS chooses the best onboard weaponry to use against the enemy and then targets and fires. The targeting and firing system can be manually turned off so that it merely alerts the crew of the enemy. A computer monitors the crew’s vitals and if they are unable to complete their jobs for various reasons (i.e. knocked or killed) the VCCS will take over. It can carry out the targeting and firing priorities, maneuver back to safe territory, or evade the enemy using a database of maneuvers.
The Omni-Sense RX90 supercomputer has various upgrades to allow for better performance. The database of maneuvers contains pre-programmed moves and also studies the driver’s and enemy’s moves and adds them or a superior move to the database. The RX90 supervises the vehicle’s structure and reports any problems or future problems to the commander – also it provides the best course of action for the problem and can execute that action if need be. The RX90 has the UVC system installed, which using satellites and high frequency signals communicates with the unmanned vehicle and allows an operative anywhere in the world control it as a pilot would. The RX90 can also activate the following systems which are built into the aircraft: DAC, EMP DAD, HES, SBRR, and Archangel Stealth System G-IV (all explained later).
The engine and most components of the tank’s various systems are located in the rear of the tank and surrounded by an extra layer of Eboride Ticobium nanorods. The ammunition as well as the batteries for the tank is surrounded by less important structures and devices to provide another layer of defense.
The tank is sealed airtight with vents responsible for the intake and exhaustion of air. The inside temperature of the tank is maintained at a comfortable seventy degrees to allow best operation by the crew; although the temperature can be adjusted for warmer or colder climates. The incoming air passes through a series of vents that filter out any unwanted particles or chemicals that have been introduced into the environment; this allows the tank to operate in a chemically saturated environment.
Powerplant and Propulsion
The King Zeus runs on a TLS designed hybrid diesel-electric engine that provides propulsion and energy to the tank’s systems. A newly developed hydrogen fuel cell system aides in the energy production of the T-13 XS/A turbocharged hybrid engine. Small, yet advanced, solar panels on the top side of the tank take in energy from the suns rays and store it; this continues even when the tank is not in use and all systems are shut down – able to harness the maximum amount of energy.
When not in combat mode, the King Zeus’ computer systems monitor the engine and shut down various parts of it in order to maintain best fuel economy. If the tank is on a flat and smooth surface the onboard computer will change the engine systems that it is using compared to when it is moving uphill or in think and harsh conditions such as mud.
The engine is surrounded by sound dampening materials along with heat dissipating devices to protect the tank from noise or heat sensing radar. When the engine is working at full capacity and the tank is moving in combat mode with all systems engaged, the materials can only provide a small amount of dampening and dissipating – however when it is moving at slow speeds and not using all of its components, the tank’s signature can be greatly reduced.
If needed the diesel component of the engine can be turned off and the tank can run completely on electrical power and stored energy. While the energy will be consumed much faster than if using the diesel engine, it allows for extra distance when empty on gas. The main benefit to this feature however, is that it allows for the tanks systems to run silently (apart from friction made with the surface) and undetected.
The complete drive system of the tank has been given a major overhaul – replacing all parts with new variants that improve the life of them as well as their efficiency and less wear. This allows for a better ride, faster engaging of the enemy, less noise (and invariably more protection), but most importantly greater efficiency so the engine has to work less hard to produce the same results. The better suspension created by improved shock absorbers and suspension system, allow for a smooth ride without any roughness – a crew favorite.
The hybrid engine produces a total of 2200 horsepower and can push the King Zeus to nearly 60 miles per hour. The immense speed provided by the engine is a huge advantage over competitors and hostile units alike.
Armor
The defense of the tank and the tank’s crew is the primary concern of DMI. It was designed with a series of layers to defend against any incoming projectile. With the creation of Eboride Ticobium nanorods, an immensely strong and durable metal, the tank’s armor has been upgraded and reinforced for maximum protection. All layers of armor are incorporated on all sides of the tank, including the undercarriage – in order to provide protection against anti-armor mines. The new armor scheme for the King Zeus will make sure it is the last unit on the battlefield.
The King Zeus is first outfitted with an enhanced version of Triada Armour:
Essentially Triad Armour for tanks. It takes the basics of AfrikaZkorps' Helinix Armour, and adds to it to make it superior armor. This armor is composed of the following layers: the first is a self-healing layer, similar to that in the Triad Armour; the second layer is a thin layer of a titanium-aluminium alloy; the third is a layer of Depleted Uranium, increasing the protection of the tank; the fourth layer is a titanium-aluminium alloy, threaded with carbon-whiskers; the fifth layer is composed of a carbon-silicon nano-mesh that will seriously slow down any bullets that penetrate the first four layers.
The Triada Armour has been upgraded with reinforced plates and a layered armor scheme to rid itself of any weak spots. The tank has been outfitted with multiple layers of Eboride Ticobium nanorods in a reinforced weave design in order to provide another layer of defense against fragment detonation devices and projectiles. The crew as well as fuel cells and sensitive equipment are encased in multiple layers of Eboride Ticobium nanorods and Triada Armour. Eboride Ticobium nanorods is a synthetic metal with increased durability and strength – it is highly resistant to puncturing and its melting point is at extreme temperatures of over 8000 degrees; making it a perfect metal alloy to be used on tanks. The weave design in combination with other armor schemes distributes the force of incoming projectiles (i.e. bullets) over the entire body of the tank – reducing the wear on any single part and strengthening the overall armor while reducing the chance that it is penetrated.
Another layer of armor fused into the design is the Electric Diffusion Sheathing:
The charged armor attempts to diffuse high energy rounds (sabot) by hitting them with an electrical discharge of energy. When the onboard computer system tracks an incoming round, it activates this layer of armor; if a charged round penetrates the other layers of the tank’s armor, the electrical charge will contact the Nickel Iron ground and help to diffuse the energy of the round before it penetrates any farther and causes massive damage. Essentially, most light anti-tank weapons, such as rocket propelled grenades or LAWs are rendered useless or at the very least a small fraction of power.
The King Zeus is outfitted with a layering of Explosive Reactive Armor:
Explosive reacting armor is constructed of "bricks" or "tiles" of explosive sandwiched between two plates, almost always metal, called the reactive or dynamic elements.
Explosive reactive armor's protective mechanism against shaped charge warheads involves producing an explosion when it is impacted by a weapon, moving the reactive elements and thus disrupting the jet of molten metal the warhead produces, significantly reducing its penetration capability. The disruption happens by two mechanisms. First, the moving plates change the effective velocity and angle of impact of the shaped charge jet, reducing the angle of incidence and increasing the effective jet velocity versus the plate element. Second, since the plates are angled compared to the usual impact direction of shaped charge warheads, as the plates move outwards the impact point on the plate moves over time, making the jet have to burn through fresh plate material. This second effect increases the effective plate thickness during the impact significantly.
Finally for the personal defense of the crew against the environments, the King Zeus is layered with airtight plastics and polycarbons to provide a defense against a chemical attack and a layer of HRM to be a last line of defense against bullets. The HRMs are Heat Reconstruction Molecules which when heated to a certain temperature, which all bullets would reach upon impact, it hardens to prevent passage of the bullet and then repairs itself back to its original form. This means that in the unfortunate case a bullet strikes in the same spot twice, it would not be any different than hitting it where it was undamaged.
Defense Systems
The King Zeus employs multiple defensive systems to protect itself against enemies in the air on the ground or at sea. The first system it uses is duel projectile guns that can shoot DACs into the air to protect against missiles:
These are small aerial decoys that protect from incoming missiles. They can be let out of the back of an airplane, shot into the air by a projectile system, or dropped to earth from airplanes. They are most commonly used in DMI aircraft to defend against enemy fighters and incoming missiles – however they have been employed in ground units as well. They are designed with geometry that allows them to maintain speed and height while flying through the air and maintaining a very large radar cross section. The radar cross section of the DAC is nearly the same as the average size tank and therefore looks like a tank on radar. The DAC also transmits a radar jamming signal, more specifically a noise jamming signal, so that the fighter and missile cannot retrieve any more information. The final mechanism of the DAC is to employ a IR signature equivalent to that of the tank so it is impossible to distinguish between the two.
To protect the tank against EMP missiles or weapons of any kind, the EMP DAD system is employed:
As the acronym implies (DAD) it watches over your military and protects them from harmful EMPs. A highly advanced early warning system detects activating EMPs. It then shuts down all electronic systems and temporarily disconnects the power sources. The EMP DAD system also activates very small electro-magnets on the outside of the vehicle that create an electro-magnetic shield to oppose the EMP. The e-m shield has a 1-100,000 chance of being penetrated, although this is not a major issue as the EMP causes no harm because the electronics have been shut down.
To provide a defense against the human eye the King Zeus uses a visual camouflage system called HES. While not perfect or terribly effective against someone who is really looking from close range, it does provide a simple defense. Invisibility at its finest:
The HES system can be activated to create "stealth" to the human eye. The HES system digitally reproduces the surrounding environment onto tiny LCD screens located on the entire surface of the vehicle. If working correctly the HES system can accurately reproduce its surroundings creating an active camouflage to the human eye. However the system is not perfect and can be affected by intensive lights and angels, which cause abnormalities in the reproduced image and making the vehicle easier to see.
Another missile defense system is the highly advanced, computer controlled, AMCCG. Four of these guns are located on the tank to provide complete coverage from all angles and threats.
The Anti-Missile Charged Centrifuge Gun is a missile defense system that can be incorporated into vehicles, aircraft, fixed structures, and naval vessels. Multiple AMCCGs are mounted onto a vehicle (generally 4 in total) so that they can cover all angles of threat - with each one covering roughly 25% of the vehicle. The AMCCG maintains a moving projectile inside the centrifuge so that upon firing it can reach immense speeds (over 7500 ft/sec) and hit the missile before it reaches its target. The actual projectile it fires is a 10 inch cylinder with a 1 inch diameter, with the tip being the top three inches. The tip is sharpened to extreme deadliness so that it can penetrate the missiles armor: then the tip is hollowed out and packed with explosives that will detonate on impact. The entire cylinder is immersed in an electro-magnetic charge while in the centrifuge and carries it to the missile - attempting to destroy the missiles computer system. It is controlled by the VCCS system which locks onto the missile and when in range fires the AMCCG.
The King Zeus employs the Archangel Stealth System that is commonly used in DMI aircraft. It is a next generation radar defense and comes with the highest level of upgrades.
Generation I – In this system, incoming radar beams are detected by various sensors around the vehicle. This information in sent to a computer that works out the location of the radar site, and sends back a counter signal that negates the reflected radar beam. The effectiveness of the system decreases as the number of radar sites increases.
Generation II – In addition to the system in the first generation, jamming capabilities have been added. This has three settings: Destruction, this is where the system overloads enemy radar systems and causes them to be destroyed; Swarm, this is where the system generates hundreds and thousands of images on the enemy radar, causing them to loose accuracy in foretelling enemy numbers, and attempting to single targets out for missile lock; Misdirection, this is where the system co-ordinates with the onboard Wraith system (if detected) so that each vehicle generated by the Wraith system, also has a radar signature generated by the Archangel system.
Generation III - In the wake of new radar systems that use self canceling radar waves to detect the presence of newer generation active stealth systems, the Archangel system was redesigned to incorporate wave projection into it, allowing it to compare the incoming signals against atmospheric conditions to decide the right waves to return.
Generation IV - More of an update than a true evolution, the G-IV incorporates a sound deadening system that sends out sound waves that are in anti-phase to the sound created by the vehicle. Though the system is unlikely to totally eliminate the sound created, it will reduce it by a significant amount, allowing audio confirmation by the enemy to be ignored.
Primary Armament *Credit Soviet Bloc*
Its primary armament is the brand new, improved SB-MKEMG 120mm electro-thermal chemical main cannon, incorporating the tandem EMAS [Electro-Magnetic Acceleration System] and DGA [Dynamic Gas Assist] systems to create a variant of the 120mm electro-thermal chemical main gun so lethal, so powerful, that there is no threat on this world that can stand a chance against a full frontal assault from the King Zeus. The EMAS is a series of magnetic coils, positioned along the barrel which increase the velocity of the standard electro-thermal fired weapon. When a round is to be fired, the projectile is loaded into the barrel and the breech is closed, this brings the electrode mere micrometers from the opposite contact/conduit on the round. When the system is fired, a high voltage/low amperage spark jumps the gap and immediately courses through the propellant, igniting it in a massive, controlled burn, far, far more efficient than what you could ever get from a conventional cannon and with relatively little energy drain. This is where the EMAS system takes control. As soon as the round is fired, or after the electrical force is applied to the propellant, capacitors (which had built up energy from the generators, motor, and batteries) discharge electrical energy into a series of circuits which are routed to coils placed along the barrel of the weapon (which is laminated to prevent magnetization of the barrel). The coils generate a magnetic field with the 'south' field attracting the round, as it approaches, the 'north' field takes control, propelling the magnetized round (with north facing out of the barrel, and south facing towards the breech) to the next coil. The process is repeated three more times. This allows for the round to be propelled from the barrel at a much greater velocity than would a standard electro-thermal cannon. Now, you may be asking, 'well, how did the round get magnetized?' The answer is simple, when the electricity is applied to the propellant to propel the round from the barrel, the entire breech is effectively drenched in electricity, and when electricity is wrapped around a metal object, it tends to magnetize (depends on what rounds you use). The barrel itself is laminated to prevent it from becoming magnetized.
However, the cannon also utilizes the Dynamic Gas Assist [DGA] which is a separate tank of inert, inflammable gas. At the end of the tank is a large piston combined with a recoil absorbing system to take recoil generated by the main gun and use it to drive the piston which will compress the gas. When the main gun fires, the gas will be compressed and then it will absorb heat from the firing of the main gun, creating an intense pressure. A valve opens and the heated, compressed gas travels through a series of venturii, creating a low-pressure, very high-velocity gas flow which then enters the barrel directly behind the round, increasing its speed, improving its stability, and increasing over-all range. It also doubles as a recoil reduction system [as it transfers recoil momentum to drive the piston] and a heat absorption system, absorbing the heat and dissipating it along with the firing of the round.
The final cannon assist system is the Successive Fire Projectile Assist [SFPA] system, a twin-fire system which can be enabled [not recommended for excessive firing as it tends to overheat after repeated use and drains power very quickly] and which creates a dynamic, successive fire system. When the fire button is depressed, the electrical impulse traverses the control interfaces to the fire control computer which releases the energy stored in the tank's super capacitors. However at the very instance that the button is pressed, 'surge capacitors' which carry extra energy for additional purposes in the event it is required, immediately store energy. After the super capacitors release their energy into the primary firing system the surge capacitors release their energy just two milliseconds before the first, resulting in a successive blast system. The first, primary blast propels the projectile towards the initial windings [of the EMAS system], the second blast erupts shortly after propelling the expanding gases behind the shell forward and increasing the velocity of the projectile a great deal, however the second 'firing' is not nearly the same power or energy of the initial and only aides the round in providing a successive propellant feature. The result is an increased heat signature [solved by extensive liquid cooling systems], a double-tap audible signature unique to the vehicle, and a faster drain on electrical systems. It is not recommended for extensive, repeated use due to its enhanced wear on the barrel and the ability for it to overcome the coolant systems and harm fire control, wiring, or other equipment on the tank due to excessive heat. This system is a form of electro-thermal cannon and instead turns a dot of metal into plasma, which creates intense heat/pressure, expanding the gases, etc.
The firing mechanism and the barrel are enclosed in the SB-AHAS heat-absorbing and dissipating shroud which absorbs the heat and dissipates it over a wide area. The cannon is also stabilized on double axis' and can fire on the move in a full 360 degree spectrum and at elevations up to seventy degrees and down to negative twelve degrees.
Next Generation Auto-Loader
The King Zeus utilizes the finalized TL-M-120 auto-loader, an auto-loader specifically designed to give it unparalleled firing abilities. This autoloader does not require the cannon to be brought down and instead uses a variable drive assembly system to load the shell into the cannon's chamber at any elevation, assisted by an electrically operated hydraulic ram. The auto-loader has a larger ready rack of about fourteen rounds, which is then fed by a 'chain-link' drive to the ammunition storage compartment. Each time a shell is fired and one is loaded into the weapon, the armored partition (between the ammo storage compartment and interior of turret) opens and a hydraulic arm pushes the shell onto a 'plate' which then runs the shell to the auto-loader ready-rack. The auto-loader can load barrel-fired ATGMs provided that a crew member put the weapon on the rack and designate its firing properties. An emergency manual system is present so that rounds can be loaded in manually, and ejected manually, however power is required to feed the firing system and space is limited internally.
Auxiliary Armament
The King Zeus' auxiliary armament suite is impressive and lethal on its own, providing the crew with a massive amount of firepower capable of being dispensed on targets in the air and on land. The primary auxiliary armament of the King Zeus is the triple-barreled rotating CFA-760D III 30mm automatic cannon, which is very similar to the main gun of the ST-37K1's primary armament as it incorporates a similar version of the EMAS system, along with the proprietary dynamic gas assist system, making this already deadly cannon into a truly lethal machine. The cannon is tied into the tank's 'Integral Fire Control Suite', which ties in all offensive/defensive systems into a centrally operated threat detection/targeting system. This allows the cannon to target anything the tank's main gun is tracking or targeting or anything that shows up on detection systems, meaning this cannon can target and annihilate anything seen on the thermal imagers, millimetric radar, LIDAR, LADAR, electro-optical, or low-light optical sensors. The mini-turret is also connected to the active missile defense systems and can be used to target missiles, aircraft, or other enemy units (such as ATGM crews).
The coaxial weapon on the King Zeus’ primary turret is a 20mm conventional-firing auto-cannon which can either fire independently of the main gun or in conjunction. One feature of the system is the fact it can be configured to fire a burst of fire immediately before the main gun opens up, igniting any ERA or disabling any threat interception devices, increasing the chance of a kill against the enemy target.
Aside from the auxiliary CFA-760D III 30mm automatic cannon and the coaxial cannon, the King Zeus sports an independently turreted 12.7mm cannon, mounted on a small turret assembly on the turret. The actual mini-turret contains little armor, aside from shrapnel defeating systems. Otherwise, the ITH-5A turret system houses the SB-AIG-81A five-barreled 12.7mm cannon along with the AG-39 40mm automatic grenade launcher, mounted side by side. Along with the two weapons is a laser designator and their own thermal/infrared targeting system for night and daylight operations. The turret system is directly connected to the infantry vehicles as well as the ARSB DefenseNet (and ALMRS/TTAC systems) so it can use information from any ARSB vehicle, VEPR-wearing soldier, or ARSB system on or around the battlefield. The system is controlled, remotely, by its operator within the vehicle and can operate with the missile defense system in taking out incoming missiles. The turret assembly maintains two ammunition linkages, each one leading to the armored ammunition compartment in the auxiliary turret. The first linkage draws rounds to the 12.7mm cannon. The second linkage draws grenade rounds to the grenade launcher. Each linkage is surrounded by an armored partition. The actual linkages are flexible and can easily flex while the mini-turret moves.
However, the King Zeus carries another card in her dominating hand of destruction, the Rear Turret Air/Ground Defense Suite (RTAGDS), a comprehensive computer controlled surface to air/surface missile system capable of housing two ready-to-fire surface to air missiles (or ATGMs) in an armored box in the rear left hand turret quarter. The box is mounted on a fully moveable hydraulically-operated system and is directly tied into vehicle's own detection systems. Another note of this system is that it can use airborne radar courtesy of a direct wireless broadband connection system which may link it to numerous airborne units to utilize their local target acquisition systems. This unit is mechanically reloadable, meaning, when the missiles are exhausted, and need to be reloaded, the gunner (or commander) has to pull a hydraulic lever (or initiate it through the computer), which rights the box and drops it into a cradle. The computer then unlatches a small armored partition which slide to reveal two stored missiles (which can be anti-aircraft or ATGM in nature or both, can be changed by the gunner). A hydraulic ram presses these up and into the launch box where small arms latch them into place. With the process completed, the partition slides back into place and the hydraulic system returns the launcher to its previous position, ready to unleash hell at helicopters or enemy tanks. After the process, a tone, along with a dialogue warning, informs the crew to reload the missile launch system. The gunner then removes two more missiles from the missile storage box and positions them in the launch box reloader (after opening an armored partition). When completed, the partitions are closed and a button is pressed, telling the computer that the launch box can be reloaded. A total of six missiles can be carried [two in the launch box, two in the reloader, and two stored]. The armored box can also contain and fire the ATM-80A HKKV (Hyper Kinetic Kill Vehicle) which is of the 'Line-Of-Sight, Anti-Tank'-type of anti-tank missiles (super velocity, kinetic kill).

The RTWS is a bank of weaponry that can be mounted on the rear of the turret. The foremost of these systems is the MGL-56D missile launch system. The system includes an armored 'bank' of a dozen laser-guided munitions. The bank is hydraulically lifted or tilted (its default setting is tilted at a fifty degree angle). If a target is chosen, the gunner illuminates a target with a laser or infrared beacon and fires a missile. The missile locks onto the infrared beacon (which can be set at a certain infrared wavelength - usually towards the end of the infrared spectrum that is hardest to create using flares, heat, etc.) or laser and maneuvers toward the target, even being able to change course (assuming target is far enough away). The ATGMs fired are a variant of the ATM-7B anti-tank missile with their guidance system replaced with an infrared beacon/laser locator. Some of these missiles are modified to carry grenades (releasing grenades over a target) or a down-ward facing shrapnel round for engaging enemy infantry lines. The laser designators and infrared beacons are located on two small rotating turrets that can be used together or independently to target up to four enemy targets or more, using DefenseNet data, the tank's targeting data, etc. Also, standard ATGMs can be mounted to the rear of the turret.

Design
The pride of the Dominion fleet. The new Empire Class Battle Carrier is more advanced and superior to any other carrier built by the Dominion. With large dimensions, especially a wide deck for extra runway and storage space, the Empire Class is a true capital ship capable of launching a powerful and deadly attack upon an enemy. It has all the abilities necessary to be a world-class fighting machine: it can cut through the water at high speeds, launch numerous aircraft in seconds, take down enemy aircraft, destroy enemy submarines, hit land targets, destroy incoming missiles, and hunt down the enemy to the ends of the world. The ship can store 150 STOL aircraft and 30 VTOL aircraft or helicopters; however, for every five STOL aircraft that are removed, two bombers can be added to the arsenal, but most need to be stored on the main deck so there is a varying maximum depending on size. With eight elevators to deliver the aircraft to the main deck and eight catapults to launch them down the runway, the air guard can enter the skies in no time at all and attack any target possible. With the use of VTOL aircraft, one can launcher them quicker because they can take off directly from the elevators instead of taxiing and taking up precious time.
The upgraded Mark II version of the ship has been outfitted with a rear hatch-bay door as well as a storage compartment for up to five standard Landing Craft Air Cushions (LCAC) and an assortment of sixty vehicles that are loaded onto them. Though not quite up to the standards of the regular crew, a short time, almost temporary, area has been established for the lodging of up to two thousand members of a marine detachment. Note that this detachment probably should not be on board if one is not planning or has no need for a land incursion; though it has a three hundred sixty-five day endurance level, the addition of a permanent detachment of two thousand soldiers could greatly diminish that number as well as make life aboard the ship somewhat more crowded.
The ship is powered by the most advanced technology in the form of four Rickover TLS500 nuclear reactors. The nuclear reactors combined with sprint coils, water jets, and water-pulse thrusters give the vessel the ability to reach speeds of over thirty-five knots at maximum and assure the crew that they will always have the necessary electricity. The engines and reactors are encased in advanced structures that have been built with sound dampening and capturing material so that the ship can run as silently as possible; it is also saturated with liqui-gel to keep the surrounding area from becoming too heated. Many unused areas on the surface of the ship also have solar panels that capture the sun's rays and convert them into stored energy for any possible situation - thus even if the nuclear reactors are all damaged to the point of inoperation and the backup battery runs out of power (minimum eight hours), the solar panels, even in partially cloud conditions, will supply emergency power. The nuclear reactor is assisted in the propulsion of the ship by the PIPD system that allows for little to no disturbance of the water that is traversed.
This is a 'silent' propulsion drive. It works by having tubes running the length of the naval vessel the EMDS is on. At the front an electrified grid ionises the water molecules, so that the percentage of ions to molecules is increased to roughly half and half. The ions are then split into two different tubes, one for the positive ions and the other for negative ions. These ions are then accelerated by charged pads running the length of the tubes. As the ions pass by they are repelled by the plates in turn, increasing the velocity of the ions. At the rear of the drive, the ions are allowed to re-combine, removing any trace of passage.
Passive Defense
The ship also uses the latest technology in its stealth design to protect it from enemies' eyes. Along with the design of the ship being geometrically constructed to disperse radar to the best of its ability (though obviously still seeable on radar, just to a smaller degree), the vessel also employs multiple advanced systems. The first of which is a joint HES and Mist Refraction System, which is designed to prevent the ship from being seen by the human eye.
The HES system can be activated to create "stealth" to the human eye. The HES system digitally reproduces the surrounding environment onto tiny LCD screens located on the entire surface of the ship. If working correctly the HES system can accurately reproduce its surroundings creating an active camouflage to the human eye. However the system is not perfect and can be affected by intensive lights and angels, which cause abnormalities in the reproduced image and making the ship easier to see.
The Mist Refraction System uses high-frequency generators on the side of the ship. These excite the molecules in the air so that light coming from the sky is refracted so that it is projected horizontally. This creates images of the sky where the ship should be, but the brain perceives it as water, and so the ship is undetected by visual systems.
The ship also uses an advanced SONAR system called APDS that allows for maximum pinging ability while maintaining a stealthy and unknown existence.
When pinging for enemy ships the APDS system utilizes two important features. The first is that it uses an ultra high frequency ping that is too high for humans to hear. The second is that in conjunction with the VCCS link it pings the enemy ships and then can triangulate it by having other nearby ships measure the ping and how it bounced. If the enemy is utilizing sonar-deceiving technology so that it redirects the ping in another direction, an allied VCCS will pick it up and measure it. In order to deceive the enemy sonar the APDS system includes designing the ship with geometry that redirects the ping and sonar absorbing materials (SAMs) that capture the ping and do not return it. Also the APDS system can also send back a ping that shows the ship in another place, as something other than a ship, or as many ships.
In order to run all of the ships systems, a degree of heat is created and, especially around the engines, causes a greater signature. While anti-shipping tactics tend not to rely on the use of the ship's heat as anti-aircraft often do, DMI installed the Liqui-Gel Coolant System for precautionary reasons.
A synthetic gel is pasted around the entire interior of the ship's structure as well as the powerplants and propellant system. The gel, which has been cooled to subzero temperatures when the engine is not pumping at full capacity, maintains its temperature to within a degree for nearly thirty-two hours (if not affected except by the natural environment). However, when in contact with an atmosphere that has been severely or even minorly heated like certain parts of the ship and its systems, its temperature rises much quicker depending on the level of heat, absorbing it into the gel. In order to allow the ship to operate without overcoming the gel's maximum capacity, it is aided by a water coolant system. Purified water is held in a tank inside the body of the ship and is pumped through tiny pipes that follow wherever the gel is located. Thus the heat is transferred from the ship to the gel to the water. When the water begins heating, it is transferred to an output system, which dumps it beneath the boat's rear into the water. Meanwhile, at the front of the ship, a special intake has been routed from the waterline to the main system, continually brining in colder water that is then pumped through the ship.
All important systems onboard the ship are encased or outfitted with the EMP DAD to defeat a directed EMP attack. Whether this would be able to protect it or to what degree from a massive EMP charge such as that resulting from a nuclear detonation is not clear.
As the acronym implies (DAD) it watches over your military and protects them from harmful EMPs. A highly advanced early warning system detects activating EMPs. It then shuts down all electronic systems and temporarily disconnects the power sources (In aircraft, in conjunction with the AMMiD system it thrusts the plane at an upward direction to maintain momentum when the power is cut – this part of the system can be turned off). The EMP DAD system also activates very small electro-magnets on the outside of the vehicle that create an electro-magnetic shield to oppose the EMP. The e-m shield has a 1-100,000 chance of being penetrated, although this is not a major issue as the EMP causes no harm because the electronics have been shut down.
Active Defense
To defend against incoming missiles or projectiles, the vessel uses multiple defense systems in conjunction with radar and maneuvering abilities. The first defense against incoming missiles is the joint CIWS and AMM system, which in conjunction with one another provide a strong shield against hostile projectiles. The CIWS tracks and locks onto fast moving missiles and attempts to fire twenty millimeter rounds at them, disabling their warhead or knocking them out of their path. The Firestorm Missile Launcher has the ability to fire AMMS - an anti-missile missile system -, which effectively targets incoming missiles and destroys them by targeting them by exploding them with another missile. The next system used on board is less commonly used on naval vessels but has proven useful in many situations – the DAC system.
The DAC system employs small aerial decoys that protect from incoming missiles. They can be let out of the back of an airplane, shot into the air by a projectile system, or dropped to earth from airplanes. They are most commonly used in DMI aircraft to defend against enemy fighters and incoming missiles, but are also being installed in 'cannons' onboard naval vessels. They are designed with geometry that allows them to maintain speed and height while flying through the air and maintaining a very large radar cross section. The radar cross section of the DAC is nearly the same as the average size fighter and therefore looks like a fighter on radar. The DAC also transmits a radar-jamming signal, more specifically a noise jamming signal, so that the fighter and missile can retrieve any more information. The final mechanism of the DAC is to employ a IR signature equivalent to that of a fighter or ship so it is impossible to distinguish between the two – hopefully causing the incoming missile to explode on the decoy and not the ship.
The vessel also uses ten specially located AMCCG gun systems to hopefully be among the last resort in missile defense.
The Anti-Missile Charged Centrifuge Gun is a missile defense system that can be incorporated into vehicles, aircraft, fixed structures, and naval vessels. The second layer is a titanium-aluminum alloy to provide torsional stiffness and some protection from bullets. The third layer is a carbon-silicon nano-mesh that will seriously slow down any bullets that penetrate the first two layers, preventing them from doing damage to internal mechanics. The armor is roughly 10kg per square meter.

These have less of an ability to target a large barrage of missiles, but are one of the last lines of defense against a stray missile or a particularly deadly one aimed at the command and control area of the ship. Eighteen High Energy Laser systems, nicknamed Dr. Hell, have been installed around the ship's perimeter as well as on the bridge, to target enemy missiles, torpedoes, and aircraft that stray to close. These powerful lasers can easily hit fast moving aerial targets with the appropriate data, and are a high-tech tool against any threat. Finally, twenty-four Firestorm Missile Launchers, a piece of equipment that can act both defensively and offensively with anti-air, ground attack, and anti-shipping missiles, have been installed into retractable compartments on the deck's surface, allowing them to pop out when needed to defend the ship or launch an attack.
However, more suited for long-range offensive attacks is the fifteen VLS Cells located in a quadrant near the bridge of the deck. A cruise missile strike can be launched at any time or assist a missile cruiser in a barrage attack.
Located on the sides of the ship in the submerged portion are ten Guardian Turrets that fire high-speed bullets through the water at incoming torpedoes. Technically they could target submarines that were close enough (which should rarely happen as this ship is used generally with a fleet), but for that job the carrier has fourteen torpedo tubes located around the ship to attack enemy submarines.
Of course, however, the main armament remains the powerful aircraft compliment.
Mark II
Instead of scrapping the well-built Empire Carrier, DMI decided to discontinue the original version and upgrade it, refit it with new technology, and rework the interior in order to achieve a better design. Certain modifications were made to the hull of the ship, but stretched the dimensions by no more than a meter in any direction. The largest additions and changes to the ship was the hangar bay, which was expanded to fit an additional fifteen aircraft; the inclusion of a rear hatch for landing equipment to go ashore; the somewhat temporary quarters for a marine detachment of soldiers for land incursion operations; and finally the inclusion of the High Energy Lasers for missile defense.

The Hunter Class Submarine is the newest submarine in the Dominion fleet and is equipped with the latest and greatest technologies and systems. As the name indicates, the Hunter Class can hunt down its prey and destroy it with efficiency. When pinging for enemy ships the APDS system utilizes two important features. The first is that it uses an ultra high frequency ping that is too high for humans to hear. The second is that in conjunction with the VCCS link it pings the enemy ships and then can triangulate it by having other nearby ships measure the ping and how it bounced. If the enemy is utilizing sonar deceiving technology so that it redirects the ping in another direction, an allied VCCS will pick it up and measure it. The gel, which has been cooled to subzero temperatures when the engine is not pumping at full capacity, maintains its temperature to within a degree for nearly thirty-two hours (if not affected except by the natural environment). However, when in contact with an atmosphere that has been severely or even minorly heated like certain parts of the ship and its systems, its temperature rises much quicker depending on the level of heat, absorbing it into the gel. In order to allow the ship to operate without overcoming the gel's maximum capacity, it is aided by a water coolant system. Purified water is held in a tank inside the body of the ship and is pumped through tiny pipes that follow wherever the gel is located. Thus the heat is transferred from the ship to the gel to the water. When the water begins heating, it is transferred to an output system, which dumps it beneath the boat's rear into the water. Meanwhile, at the front of the ship, a special intake has been routed from the waterline to the main system, continually brining in colder water that is then pumped through the ship.

As the acronym implies (DAD) it watches over your military and protects them from harmful EMPs. A highly advanced early warning system detects activating EMPs. It is more than capable to take out any enemy sub, and can launch a nuclear strikes from hundreds of miles away upon an unsuspecting enemy.
In addition, for defense from enemy missiles and torpedoes, the Hunter houses three Anti-Missile Charged Centrifuge Guns (AMCCG) that fire a large piece of metal at high velocities against missiles. These have less of an ability to target a large barrage of missiles, but are one of the last lines of defense against a stray missile or a particularly deadly one aimed at the command and control area of the ship. Design
The Storm Class is the upgraded and renamed version of the Thunder Class, which was the newest guided missile cruiser in the Dominion fleet. After a series of studies, the Thunder Class was decided to be upgraded instead of replaced and so the Storm Class was born. It carries the latest and most advanced in missile targeting system as well as carrying a plethora of weapons and combat systems. It also designed to be a small, fast moving ship that has the versatility to complete almost any task, though it best used in conjunction with a support vessels when fighting in naval combat. Its most useful trait is its ability to bombard land targets with hundreds of missiles concurrently. With its six hundred VLS Cells, the Storm Class Guided Missile Cruiser is a threat to be reckoned with.
The shape of the ship was designed so that it reflected radar waves and sonar pings away from their origins so that the ship does not appear on the sensors. It was also painted black and is a smooth design so that it is hard to see with the naked eye, especially at night when making out its shape and color are nearly impossible against the blackness of the ocean. It has a relatively shall draft and a cutting bow in order to allow it for faster speeds and improved performance in the high seas.
The ship is powered by the most advanced technology in the form of two Rickover TLS500 nuclear reactors. The nuclear reactors, water jets, and sprint coils give the vessel the ability to reach speeds of nearly forty-two knots and assure the crew that they will always have the necessary electricity. The engines and reactors are encased in advanced structures that have been built with sound dampening and capturing material so that the ship can run silently; it is also saturated with liqui-gel to keep the surrounding area from becoming too heated. Many unused areas on the surface of the ship also have solar panels that capture the sun's rays and convert them into stored energy for any possible situation - thus even if the nuclear reactors are all damaged to the point of inoperation and the backup battery runs out of power (minimum eight hours), the solar panels, even in partially cloud conditions, will supply emergency power. The nuclear reactor is assisted in the propulsion of the ship by the PIPD system that allows for little to no disturbance of the water that is traversed.
This is a 'silent' propulsion drive. It works by having tubes running the length of the naval vessel the EMDS is on. At the front an electrified grid ionises the water molecules, so that the percentage of ions to molecules is increased to roughly half and half. The ions are then split into two different tubes, one for the positive ions and the other for negative ions. These ions are then accelerated by charged pads running the length of the tubes. As the ions pass by they are repelled by the plates in turn, increasing the velocity of the ions. At the rear of the drive, the ions are allowed to re-combine, removing any trace of passage.
Passive Defense
The ship also uses the latest technology in its stealth design to protect it from enemies' eyes. Along with the design of the ship being geometrically constructed to disperse radar, the vessel also employs multiple advanced systems. The first of which is a joint HES and Mist Refraction System that is designed to prevent the ship from being seen by the human eye.
The HES system can be activated to create "stealth" to the human eye. The HES system digitally reproduces the surrounding environment onto tiny LCD screens located on the entire surface of the ship. If working correctly the HES system can accurately reproduce its surroundings creating an active camouflage to the human eye. However the system is not perfect and can be affected by intensive lights and angels, which cause abnormalities in the reproduced image and making the ship easier to see.
The Mist Refraction System uses high-frequency generators on the side of the ship. These excite the molecules in the air so that light coming from the sky is refracted so that it is projected horizontally. This creates images of the sky where the ship should be, but the brain perceives it as water, and so the ship is undetected by visual systems.
The ship also uses an advanced SONAR system called APDS that allows for maximum pinging ability while maintaining a stealthy and unknown existence.
When pinging for enemy ships the APDS system utilizes two important features. The first is that it uses an ultra high frequency ping that is too high for humans to hear. The second is that in conjunction with the VCCS link it pings the enemy ships and then can triangulate it by having other nearby ships measure the ping and how it bounced. If the enemy is utilizing sonar deceiving technology so that it redirects the ping in another direction, an allied VCCS will pick it up and measure it. In order to deceive the enemy sonar the APDS system includes designing the ship with geometry that redirects the ping and sonar absorbing materials (SAMs) that capture the ping and do not return it. Also the APDS system can also send back a ping that shows the ship in another place, as something other than a ship, or as many ships.
In order to run all of the ships systems, a degree of heat is created and, especially around the engines, causes a greater signature. While anti-shipping tactics tend not to rely on the use of the ship's heat as anti-aircraft often do, DMI installed the Liqui-Gel Coolant System for precautionary reasons.
A synthetic gel is pasted around the entire interior of the ship's structure as well as the powerplants and propellant system. The gel, which has been cooled to subzero temperatures when the engine is not pumping at full capacity, maintains its temperature to within a degree for nearly thirty-two hours (if not affected except by the natural environment). However, when in contact with an atmosphere that has been severely or even minorly heated like certain parts of the ship and its systems, its temperature rises much quicker depending on the level of heat, absorbing it into the gel. In order to allow the ship to operate without overcoming the gel's maximum capacity, it is aided by a water coolant system. Purified water is held in a tank inside the body of the ship and is pumped through tiny pipes that follow wherever the gel is located. Thus the heat is transferred from the ship to the gel to the water. When the water begins heating, it is transferred to an output system, which dumps it beneath the boat's rear into the water. Meanwhile, at the front of the ship, a special intake has been routed from the waterline to the main system, continually brining in colder water that is then pumped through the ship.
All important systems onboard the ship are encased or outfitted with the EMP DAD.
As the acronym implies (DAD) it watches over your military and protects them from harmful EMPs. A highly advanced early warning system detects activating EMPs. It then shuts down all electronic systems and temporarily disconnects the power sources (In aircraft, in conjunction with the AMMiD system it thrusts the plane at an upward direction to maintain momentum when the power is cut – this part of the system can be turned off). The EMP DAD system also activates very small electro-magnets on the outside of the vehicle that create an electro-magnetic shield to oppose the EMP. The e-m shield has a 1-100,000 chance of being penetrated, although this is not a major issue as the EMP causes no harm because the electronics have been shut down.
Active Defense
To defend against incoming missiles or projectiles, the vessel uses multiple defense systems in conjunction with radar and maneuvering abilities. The first defense against incoming missiles is the joint CIWS and AMM system, which in conjunction with one another, provide a strong shield against hostile projectiles. The CIWS tracks and locks onto fast moving missiles and attempts to fire twenty millimeter rounds at them, disabling their warhead or knocking them out of their path. The Firestorm Missile Launcher can fire anti-missile missiles, which effectively target incoming missiles and destroy them by targeting them with another missile. The next system used on board is less commonly used on naval vessels but is becoming more and more useful – the DAC system.
The DAC system employs small aerial decoys that protect from incoming missiles. They can be let out of the back of an airplane, shot into the air by a projectile system, or dropped to earth from airplanes. They are most commonly used in DMI aircraft to defend against enemy fighters and incoming missiles, but are also being installed in 'cannons' onboard naval vessels. They are designed with geometry that allows them to maintain speed and height while flying through the air and maintaining a very large radar cross section. The radar cross section of the DAC is nearly the same as the average size fighter and therefore looks like a fighter on radar. The DAC also transmits a radar jamming signal, more specifically a noise jamming signal, so that the fighter and missile can retrieve any more information. The final mechanism of the DAC is to employ a IR signature equivalent to that of the fighter so it is impossible to distinguish between the two – hopefully causing the incoming missile to explode on the decoy and not the ship.
The vessel also uses five specially located AMCCG gun systems to hopefully be a last resort in missile defense.
The Anti-Missile Charged Centrifuge Gun is a missile defense system that can be incorporated into vehicles, aircraft, fixed structures, and naval vessels. Multiple AMCCGs are mounted onto a vessel (generally 4 in total) so that they can cover all angles of threat - with each one covering roughly 25% of the ship. The AMCCG maintains a moving projectile inside the centrifuge so that upon firing it can reach immense speeds (over 7500 ft/sec) and hit the missile before it reaches its target. The actual projectile it fires is a 10 inch cylinder with a 1 inch diameter, with the tip being the top three inches. The tip is sharpened to extreme deadliness so that it can penetrate the missiles armor: then the tip is hollowed out and packed with explosives that will detonate on impact. The entire cylinder is immersed in an electro-magnetic charge while in the centrifuge and carries it to the missile - attempting to destroy the missiles computer system. It is controlled by the VCCS system which locks onto the missile and when in range fires the AMCCG.
One of the newest systems is the High Energy Liquid Laser Missile Defense system (Dr. Hell). The laser defense system is an advanced technology that can be used in both defense of the ship as well as in an attempt to down an enemy aircraft. This ship has been installed with ten separate devices all around its body and in particularly sensitive areas like the bridge. The spread of lasers has been determined to be able to cover all angles that a missile could enter from, and has even been shown to be able to target torpedoes in the water with enough advanced warning and targeting data. They are all encased in metal boxes that allow for maximum rotation from side-to-side and one hundred eight degree adjustment from front-to-back.
Dr. Hell, named as such for its devastating power and as an acronym "High Energy Liquid Laser Missile Defense" (the last two being M.D. also stand for Doctor), is one of the newest technologies in the Dominion arsenal. After extensive research and trillions of dollars put into the operation, the system was produced in a compact manner that still delivered a 300-kilowatt beam. The device is contained in a five-by-two-by-one-foot unit, which can be manipulated so that the laser can move one hundred fifty degrees (front to back). The deuterium hydrogen laser is powered by an advanced, large hydrogen fuel cell combined with solar panels on the surface of whatever it is emplaced on.
When deuterium is used instead of hydrogen, the deuterium fluoride, lases at the wavelength of about 3.8 µm. This makes the deuterium fluoride laser usable for terrestrial operations. The deuterium fluoride laser constructionally resembles a rocket engine. In the combustion chamber, ethylene is burned in nitrogen trifluoride. This reaction produces free excited fluorine radicals. Just after the nozzle, the mixture of helium and hydrogen or deuterium gas is injected to the exhaust stream; the hydrogen or deuterium reacts with the fluorine radicals, producing excited molecules of deuterium or hydrogen fluoride. The excited molecules then undergo stimulated emission in the optical resonator region of the laser.
The laser, as previously stated, is primarily a missile defense system. The high-energy beam, targeted by an advanced onboard computer and capable of being connected to a vehicle's main computer, locks on and reaches its target at incredible speeds faster than anything it is targeting. When the laser beam makes contact with its target, their are different possible results: it could possibly disintegrate the armor, heat shield, or adhesive measures effectively ripping the missile apart at such high speeds; it could cause the warhead to prematurely detonate, destroying the missile in midair; it could destroy the onboard computer and guidance system sending the missile off-track; it could, through quite rarely, if it manages to contact the engine and/or fuel, cause it to explode. However, the laser can also be used on other targets with varying results, the best being another aircraft due to the nature of its design and location.
The vessel also employs two major torpedo defense systems to protect it against enemy submarines that are hunting it. The first is a normal decoy system that is launched into the water and distracts the torpedo with sounds and heat signatures. The second is a series of six strategically placed Guardian Turrets that have the possibility have destroying a torpedo before it ever reaches the ship.
These turrets are designed for naval vessels, specifically submarines. Utilizing supercavitation technology, these turrets fires small bullets at high speed at specified targets. This is useful for defense against incoming torpedoes, removing sonar buoys, destroying mines, and various other tasks.
Systems
So how are all these systems run without flaw? Along with the advanced command deck installed into the ship where the crew can easily control all the necessary abilities, it also uses two very advanced systems that can control the ship in everyway. The SBRR system makes it easy to navigate the ship and watch all the incoming threats, while the VCCS system controls everything that happens.
The SBRR system is a satellite based reality reproduction system. Numerous screens are placed in the command deck of the ship that digitally reproduce the surroundings from thousands of mini cameras located all over the vessel. The satellite system also allows for the captain to look ahead around major obstacles and locate a target that is not in the direct line of site. The onboard computer warns about hostile targets in the air and on the ground and at sea. It also comes with a missile early warning alert system that can show real time action of the incoming missile. The SBRR system is also connected to a helmet and fold down visor. The visor is made of two halves – one for each eye – and can be lowered and raised individually. The user can choose between normal view, 180 view, or advanced view: the normal view is what he would see on the screens, the 180 view gives him a view of behind the ship looking back, and the advanced view allows to see ahead and around obstacles to see what lays in store. An onboard voice system allows the captain to control the entire system with voice commands – although it is mostly used for weapon targeting and firing.
A 512-bit encryption allows secure transmission of all signals and messages. An advanced navigation system, which is linked to all allied bases and satellites and radar systems, allows for the system to always know where it is on the battle field as well as the enemy. Military linking and group co-ordination allow for advanced tactical strategy and the VCCS weapon system. The highly advanced onboard weapon system that along with the navigation and linking components, targets the enemies on the battlefield and destroys them. The VCCS communicates with the unknown combatant and depending on the resulting signal it distinguishes friend from foe. If the unknown combatant also has a VCCS then the communication time is almost instant. After finding out that the combatant is a foe, the VCCS chooses the best onboard weaponry to use against the enemy and then targets and fires. The targeting and firing system can be manually turned off so that it merely alerts the crew of the enemy. The VCCS can control the ship in everyway and can be set to auto-control or manual.
Armor
The entire ship is encased in five hundred millimeter Triad Armour that protects it against anything imaginable.
This armor is composed of three layers. The first is a self-healing layer, composed of a glue-like substance between two thin layers. When the substance comes into contact with air it begins to congeal and harden, forming a cover over the hole. This only works on smaller holes - missile damage is impossible to heal. The second layer is a titanium-aluminum alloy to provide torsional stiffness and some protection from bullets. The third layer is a carbon-silicon nano-mesh that will seriously slow down any bullets that penetrate the first two layers, preventing them from doing damage to internal mechanics. The armor is roughly 10kg per square meter.
Armament
As a Guided Missile Cruiser the main armament of the Storm Class is its array of vertically launched missiles. In total, the deck of the ship houses six hundred VLS cells in three groupings of two-by-two squares of ten-by-five grids. They are designed with geometry that allows them to maintain speed and height while flying through the air and maintaining a very large radar cross section. Military linking and group co-ordination allow for advanced tactical strategy and the VCCS weapon system. The highly advanced onboard weapon system that along with the navigation and linking components, targets the enemies on the battlefield and destroys them. The VCCS communicates with the unknown combatant and depending on the resulting signal it distinguishes friend from foe. If the unknown combatant also has a VCCS then the communication time is almost instant. After finding out that the combatant is a foe, the VCCS chooses the best onboard weaponry to use against the enemy and then targets and fires. The targeting and firing system can be manually turned off so that it merely alerts the crew of the enemy. The VCCS can control the ship in everyway and can be set to auto-control or manual.

When the substance comes into contact with air it begins to congeal and harden, forming a cover over the hole. This only works on smaller holes - missile damage is impossible to heal. The second layer is a titanium-aluminum alloy to provide torsional stiffness and some protection from bullets. The third layer is a carbon-silicon nano-mesh that will seriously slow down any bullets that penetrate the first two layers, preventing them from doing damage to internal mechanics. Design
The Lord Class Heavy Battleship is the largest battleship in the Dominion fleet. It is equipped with the newest and most advanced technologies in the world – making it a formidable opponent in any battle. Its massive and many guns as well as myriad of weapons will rain down a storm upon its enemies and make anyone think twice before attacking its fleet. For Dominion purposes, at four hundred meters long and displacing a quarter million tons it is the largest armor-based ship that has been or will be designed before the controversial super dreadnaught.
The ship is powered by the most advanced technology in the form of four Rickover TLS500 nuclear reactors. The nuclear reactors and water jets give the vessel the ability to reach maximum battle speeds of nearly thirty-five knots (30 knots standard cruising speed) and assure the crew that they will always have the necessary electricity even if one or more of the reactors is damaged or inoperable. The engines and reactors are encased in advanced structures that have been built with sound dampening and capturing material so that the ship can run silently; it is also saturated with liqui-gel to keep the surrounding area from becoming too heated. Many unused areas on the surface of the ship also have solar panels that capture the sun's rays and convert them into stored energy for any possible situation - thus even if the nuclear reactors are all damaged to the point of inoperation and the backup battery runs out of power (minimum eight hours), the solar panels, even in partially cloud conditions, will supply emergency power. The nuclear reactors are assisted in the propulsion of the ship by the PIPD system that allows for little to no disturbance of the water that is traversed.
This is a 'silent' propulsion drive. It works by having tubes running the length of the naval vessel the EMDS is on. At the front an electrified grid ionises the water molecules, so that the percentage of ions to molecules is increased to roughly half and half. The ions are then split into two different tubes, one for the positive ions and the other for negative ions. These ions are then accelerated by charged pads running the length of the tubes. As the ions pass by they are repelled by the plates in turn, increasing the velocity of the ions. At the rear of the drive, the ions are allowed to re-combine, removing any trace of passage.
Passive Defense
The ship also uses the latest technology in its stealth design to protect it from enemies' eyes. Along with the design of the ship being geometrically constructed to disperse radar, the vessel also employs multiple advanced systems. The first of which is a joint HES and Mist Refraction System that is designed to prevent the ship from being seen by the human eye.
The HES system can be activated to create "stealth" to the human eye. The HES system digitally reproduces the surrounding environment onto tiny LCD screens located on the entire surface of the ship. If working correctly the HES system can accurately reproduce its surroundings creating an active camouflage to the human eye. However the system is not perfect and can be affected by intensive lights and angels, which cause abnormalities in the reproduced image and making the ship easier to see.
The Mist Refraction System uses high-frequency generators on the side of the ship. These excite the molecules in the air so that light coming from the sky is refracted so that it is projected horizontally. This creates images of the sky where the ship should be, but the brain perceives it as water, and so the ship is undetected by visual systems.
The ship also uses an advanced SONAR system called APDS that allows for maximum pinging ability while maintaining a stealthy and unknown existence.
When pinging for enemy ships the APDS system utilizes two important features. The first is that it uses an ultra high frequency ping that is too high for humans to hear. The second is that in conjunction with the VCCS link it pings the enemy ships and then can triangulate it by having other nearby ships measure the ping and how it bounced. If the enemy is utilizing sonar deceiving technology so that it redirects the ping in another direction, an allied VCCS will pick it up and measure it. In order to run all of the ships systems, a degree of heat is created and, especially around the engines, causes a greater signature. While anti-shipping tactics tend not to rely on the use of the ship's heat as anti-aircraft often do, DMI installed the Liqui-Gel Coolant System for precautionary reasons.
A synthetic gel is pasted around the entire interior of the ship's structure as well as the powerplants and propellant system. The gel, which has been cooled to subzero temperatures when the engine is not pumping at full capacity, maintains its temperature to within a degree for nearly thirty-two hours (if not affected except by the natural environment). However, when in contact with an atmosphere that has been severely or even minorly heated like certain parts of the ship and its systems, its temperature rises much quicker depending on the level of heat, absorbing it into the gel. In order to allow the ship to operate without overcoming the gel's maximum capacity, it is aided by a water coolant system. Purified water is held in a tank inside the body of the ship and is pumped through tiny pipes that follow wherever the gel is located. Thus the heat is transferred from the ship to the gel to the water. When the water begins heating, it is transferred to an output system, which dumps it beneath the boat's rear into the water. Meanwhile, at the front of the ship, a special intake has been routed from the waterline to the main system, continually brining in colder water that is then pumped through the ship.
Active Defense
To defend against incoming missiles or projectiles, the vessel uses multiple defense systems in conjunction with radar and maneuvering abilities. The first defense against incoming missiles is the joint CIWS and AMM system, which in conjunction with one another, provide a strong shield against hostile projectiles. The CIWS tracks and locks onto fast moving missiles and attempts to fire twenty millimeter rounds at them, disabling their warhead or knocking them out of their path. The Firestorm Missile Launcher can fire anti-missile missiles that effectively target incoming missiles and destroy them by targeting them with another missile. One of the newest systems is the High Energy Liquid Laser Missile Defense system (Dr. Hell). The laser defense system is an advanced technology that can be used in both defense of the ship as well as in an attempt to down an enemy aircraft. This ship has been installed with thirty separate devices all around its body and in particularly sensitive areas like the bridge. The spread of lasers has been determined to be able to cover all angles that a missile could enter from, and has even been shown to be able to target torpedoes in the water with enough advanced warning and targeting data. They are all encased in metal boxes that allow for maximum rotation from side-to-side and one hundred eight degree adjustment from front-to-back.
Dr. Hell, named as such for its devastating power and as an acronym "High Energy Liquid Laser Missile Defense" (the last two being M.D. also stand for Doctor), is one of the newest technologies in the Dominion arsenal. After extensive research and trillions of dollars put into the operation, the system was produced in a compact manner that still delivered a 300-kilowatt beam. The device is contained in a five-by-two-by-one-foot unit, which can be manipulated so that the laser can move one hundred fifty degrees (front to back). The deuterium hydrogen laser is powered by an advanced, large hydrogen fuel cell combined with solar panels on the surface of whatever it is emplaced on.
When deuterium is used instead of hydrogen, the deuterium fluoride, lases at the wavelength of about 3.8 µm. This makes the deuterium fluoride laser usable for terrestrial operations. The deuterium fluoride laser constructionally resembles a rocket engine. In the combustion chamber, ethylene is burned in nitrogen trifluoride. This reaction produces free excited fluorine radicals. Just after the nozzle, the mixture of helium and hydrogen or deuterium gas is injected to the exhaust stream; the hydrogen or deuterium reacts with the fluorine radicals, producing excited molecules of deuterium or hydrogen fluoride. The excited molecules then undergo stimulated emission in the optical resonator region of the laser.

In total, the Lord Class has forty-two guns located all around the ship from four inches to eighteen inches as follows: 2x DMI Mark VI 4-barreled 18-inch coilguns [8]; 2x DMI Mark III 2-barreled 15-inch coilguns [4]; 3x DMI Mark V 3-barreled 10-inch railguns [9]; 2x DMI Mark IV 4-barrelled 8-inch railguns [8]; 5x DMI Mark III 1-barreled 5-inch railguns [5]; 4x DMI Mark II 2-barrelled 4-inch railguns [8]. As a battleship the naval guns are naturally the primary weaponry of the ship; however, it also contains numerous other offensive and protective weaponry.
The normal defensive armament begins with twenty-eight Phalanx Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS) that are scattered around the deck of the ship and pepper enemy missiles with rapid-fire 20mm ammunition. Especially located around the bridge and tower, though also found in a couple other spots, are twelve Anti-Missile Charged Centrifuge Guns (AMCCG) that fire a large piece of metal at high velocities against missiles. These have less of an ability to target a large barrage of missiles, but are one of the last lines of defense against a stray missile or a particularly deadly one aimed at the command and control area of the ship. Thirty High Energy Laser systems, nicknamed Dr. Hell, have been installed around the ship's perimeter as well as on the bridge, to target enemy missiles, torpedoes, and aircraft that stray to close. These powerful lasers can easily hit fast moving aerial targets with the appropriate data, and are a high-tech tool against any threat. Finally, thirty Firestorm Missile Launchers, a piece of equipment that can act both defensively and offensively with anti-air, ground attack, and anti-shipping missiles, have been installed into retractable compartments on the deck's surface, allowing them to pop out when needed to defend the ship or launch an attack.
However, more suited for long-range offensive attacks are the twenty VLS Cells located in a quadrant near the bridge of the deck. A cruise missile strike can be launched at any time or assist a missile cruiser in a barrage attack.
Located on the sides of the ship in the submerged portion are twenty Guardian Turrets that fire high-speed bullets through the water at incoming torpedoes. Technically they could target submarines that were close enough (which should rarely happen as this ship is used generally with a fleet), but for that job the ship has six torpedo tubes located around the ship to attack enemy submarines.

The time has come for us to order our new submarines. The "Gary Girardi Class" will be our quick attack submarines of choice. The subs will arrive at combat range, launch all four to six missiles on board, dive to "crush" depth and make like mad out of the area, all as quickly as possible. The "Nut Class" will provide protection from enemy surface vessels and submerged vessels for the fleet and the "Girardi Class". In order to keep production/development costs low, and maintenance easier, the submarines should be roughly based on the same hull. Or to keep costs even lower, based on the "Dolphin Class" already in production.
