I'm going to post a few ideas here, I might start my own thread soon.... So if I put them here, I won't forget them, and I'll get some feedback (hopefully). I'm still not sure what the hell I'm doing, but I figure something like this.

Some neutral anonymous super-power creates some "orbs". This super-power isn't on anybody's side, but is simply bored with watching earth, which has normal people with normal lives. So, he releases the orbs to earth, which basically just land in random spots. Then, people's characters find them. When they touch it, they get some sort of power, based on their personality. (I've been trying to think of a way to incorporate an evil/good theme, without using religion. This way, I can still have Tal, even if he isn't technically an angel. ;) I think this would work nicely.) (There would also be neutral people too.) Then, the rest is simply a matter of good ppl vs. evil ppl, while everybody is learning how to use and develop their powers. But I don't have any set plan for what happens after the orbs land, I thought I'd just see what people do and play it by ear from there.

And good point Syl. I can't think of any other way to determine what powers they'd get, but I guess (if I stuck with that) it would either be

A. determined in the sign-up thread
B. determined by the person who has the char
C. determined by me

But the thing is, I could just say people got certain powers and don't know why. Then explain later in the thread based on some BS I pull out. Or, just not say at all. :D

Now that I think about it, it'd be pretty cool (and funny) if people just described their char, and I chose powers to match them. Of course, I'd only do that if it were by popular demand, but I can dream, can't I?

Of course, I'd probably screw that up somehow.

It might work out for the best though if they get powers simply by touching the orbs. That way we don't have people choosing the powers they want, but rather we get the randomness that happens from the orbs.

If they complain just tell them that you choosing the powers was part of the whole concept and tough nuggets to them.

As for the name, it's interesting. But how'd you get it? :p

I suppose you need to decide the number of orbs and their powers now so people don't complain. And leave it up to chance...
Or you could go Tabula Rasa style and have them in set locations, leaving it up to people to find the orbs themselves.

Or how's this for a concept. Each orb has a specific power, and the person that finds said orb obtains that power. Another question is does the orb vanish once someone has it's power or can someone else take the orb and get whatever power it has?

I personally think it depends on the setting. If we have a lot of people it might be best to have the orbs be in fixed positions with obsticals to keep one from getting to the easily. But they would be re-useable.
If it was a small group of people involved then a orbs that bond with the user may be best.

Aye, we do. And what you say about setting makes sense. Here's another question. If the orbs are reusable, does the person who originally found it keep the power or lose it once the orb is taken?

Again, depends really. We could have it like king of the hill, which would make it difficult and competative. Or a little looser and and more about the strongest is the one who gets around a lot more.

Anyway, I think that each orb will just be in random spaces, not guarded, and random people just happen to find them in weird locations. They wouldn't be reusable, or someone could make an army of super-powered @$$holes. And I'm not having that.

But the concept of one person finding more then one orb is... difficult. I was more imagining that each person would gain some abilities, and find out later that they were destined to find the orb (or something), which awakens their hidden power, yadda yadda. In other words, one orb would give them all the powers they need.

On the other hand, questing for orbs for power would be interesting... it's just that it would mean I had to constantly decide who got what, and that would get annoying fast.

That makes sense. I think I'll have the time period... current, for simplicity's sake, and probably allow char's that don't have powers... But I will be strict, on that the ONLY way to get ANYTHING I deem to be a 'power' is with an orb. Unless I think of something else. :)

Normally I kick major ass with him, but the lag got to me today. And just cause you aren't good with one character doesn't mean that I'm not. For example, you were great with Bowser, but I absolutely cannot win with him to save my life.

Oh, and about Brawl.... Kirby used to be my best char, but I realized I could get so much better with other people, Kirby can only be so good... and his rock move is predictable and easy to avoid.

Call of Duty 4 isn't for Wii, and it's pretty amazing. And Civilization Revolution. And a lot of other games, I'm sure. There are many that are just for PS3 and Xbox, but not Wii. Most game companies are too lazy to deal with the Wii's unique controller setup.

No, but I'm not very creative, and the orbs are random, but destined at the same time. Don't think of it as giving power, think of it as 'unlocking the power within', only not as weird sounding.
