I was wandering over there by the caverns and saw it sticking out of the sand.
She felt her blood run cold.

Oh yes...there's a whole laberynth of them...but you can only get to them for an hour or so a day, because the tide covers them up.

Her mind was spinning madly, processing the information. But like a good Captain, she kept it all in. Continuing her walk through the surf, she examined the piece of wood once more.

"I suspect this was once part of a bow. Perhaps the stern of a boat, but it's difficult to tell given the size."

I think there has been a lot of sea-battles here in years gone by.

The stories say that the British tried to take the Island on several occasions, but were always defeated.

As Orchid took her leave, Jayne glanced off to the cliffs she had noticed earlier, this time seeing them in a new light. With a sort of sigh, she sat at the edge of the waves, thinking.

Absently, she dug through the tiny shells which had been left by the receding tide. Cowries, a bleeding tooth, baby horse conchs, and even a few small cone shells, in addition to the host of clams and augurs plaguing every beach she had ever known. Cleaning a few of her treasures in the water, she stood and carried the now empty bottle of rum back to the beach house.

She grunted a response and fished out another bottle of rum.

"Interest you in any?"

Shrugging, she took the bottle outside again. The sand was beginning to cool beneath her bare feet as the sun went down. Indifferently, she selected a palm tree about the size of a man in diameter, and withdrew her cutlass. With the rum in one hand, and the blade in the other, she practiced her swordplay.

OOC: And now for something completely different

A tall lanky fellow entered the bar. An eyepatch adorned his face, and his skin was rough from years of travel at the sea.

After a swig of the rum, she lined up her stance. After a feint to the right, she delivered and downward cut to the left of the tree, then spun and faced it as she passed. It wasn't quite the same, but practice was practice and all was valuable.

He walked over to the girl who was practicing with her sword. Without so much as a sound he grabbed the rum and started drinking it.

Her grip tightened on her cutlass imperceptably when Cuneo addressed Raven. The woman was among the few Jayne would consider a friend here, and she often had the unfavorable habit of being pretective of her friends.

There are a few rooms on the second floor, and cabanas out here on the beach. I think a few of them are still unoccupied.

well the first night this whole thing started, I tryed to kill, or at least severly injure a men when he threatened me. It was one of the men that came looking for the guy that got shot last night

Will awoke well-rested and felt immediately that is was going to be a great day. Of course, he was always optimistic in the morning.

He opened the shutters to the club and as the sunlight flooded the room was happy to see the room neat and orderly. No blood, no body parts, must have been a slow night....

As the coffee perked and the grill warmed he cleaned up the remmnants of his hammock experiment in front of the club. His hip was still a little tender, maybe he should have taken up Orchid's offer of the lotion...

After finishing his breakfest Will checked the barkeep's buddy under the counter and made sure it was loaded and handy.

Securing the sack of potatoes he had brought in the night before he settled down just outside the doorway and started peeling the spuds...

"a little chillier today, a good hearty soup should go over big."

He then remembered something that Jayne, the pirate lass had said yesterday...looking around rather foolishly he said aloud to the gulls and the empty bar,

I hoisted up my sig-in-als which she so quickly knew,
And when she me bunting up, she immediately hove to.

She had a dark and a rovin' eye-uh-eye,
And her hair hung down in ring-a-lets.
She was a nice girl, a decent girl,
But one of the rakish kind.

Well, they are alot of strange folk about...and the Legless Pirate is a local legend. But thinking about it, you're the only one I've seen er... fished out of these waters.

it's true that it would seem that folks would use this place more as a jumping off point for adventure. or --someone will bring adventure with them. but the regulars tend to be content to comb the beaches and haunt the bar...keeping an eye out for the occasional phsycotic.. The club itself could charge more I suppose..but it's always been kind of open-minded, shall we say, about rent and board charges.
