Zena grinned. "Good. Than shall we head back to the others?" Josh, he lost, head back to the maze.
Joshua woke up and streched. Be there in a minute Z. He dug through his wardrobe until he found a traveling cloak. "I forgot how cold it is here." He vanished and reappeared with the rest of the group in the center of the maze.

OOC: We don't need to be lead out of the maze. Methua and Joshua can teleport, remember?

ooc: sigh, then just forget that post, i guess...

Methua completely ignored Joshua's arrival. He was staring off into space, thinking furiously, and muttering to himself.

OOC: Hold the phone, I just thought of something. There may be a way that can be used after all. Gimme a sec.

"I think he's mad that we outsmarted him." Zena said to Josh.
"You're probably right. But we're still behind on points. It's not like we won the whole negative point battle thing." Joshua replied. "Kathy, just how many wrenches can you fit in that thing?"
"I lost track about 15 years ago." She replied. "I just kept adding them and although I can find every one, I don't know how many I've got."

Methua glanced up at Joshua and Zena. "No, I am not that petty. But something is wrong. I should not have lost that."

"If you were up against anyone else, you would have won. But we know what we're doing. In case you didn't know, we killed Satan and Angron, banished Mond, found the Garden of Eden, and restored peace to Earth once before." Zena was quite proud, but not bragging.

Methua waved his hand as if to say that was of no consequence. "True, but souls are my specielty. I should have been able to find him easily. Realize that I am not simply sulking. Something is not right here."

"If you think I was lying you've got another thing coming." Zena said.
"She's right. I sent Tal and Rollins here then left the Pope Jet for Alehkra's mansion. I was confident enough to take a nap. When you were guessing, and Zena was showing me everything, I was already home in bed." Joshua stated.

Methua thought for a second, then looked rather bewildered. "So what I was sensing was the resonence of your soul than." He seemed to be talking to himself more than Zena or Josh. "That makes no sense at all. That should only happen when I want it to." He furrowed his brow in thought.

"Maybe you're just losing your touch." Zena suggested while shrugging.
"Or maybe my soul's just different than most. Wait, what time of the month is it?" Joshua asked.
"It's the middle, obviously." Zena said.
"He means the lunar month." Kathy corrected.

Methua glared at them. "This is serious. What the hell does the time of the month have to do with anything?" he seemed more agitated than at any other time since he'd appeared.

"Joshua is unfortunately like a lot of women. He's got his time of the month." Zena was giggling now.
"Do we really need to go there?" Joshua asked, tapping his foot with anxiety. "I mean, honestly, it's not a big deal."
"But it's still hilarious." Kathy said, giggling almost as much as Zena. "So does anyone know what part of the lunar cycle we're in? It would explain a lot if we're near the new moon."

"Nope" Alehkra chipped in. "We're about two days away from the full moon."

Methua suddenly snapped, and hopped to his feet. He glared at both Joshua and Zena. "What the fuck does the time of the month have to do with soul resonences, which I'm fairly certain you don't even know much about?!"

Joshua ignored Methua. "Well, it would explain why I'm not overly chipper right now." He turned his attention to the angry false god. "Lunar cycles affect me almost as much as they affect werewolves. At a full moon, I'm closer to my demonic half, and under the right circumstances, it completely takes over. The opposite is true at a new moon. I'm more human."

Methua again waved this off. "Inconsequential." He once more sat down and thought for several minutes. He finally shrugged, and stood up. "I regret to tell you that the games are over." He announced.

Joshua, Zena, and Kathy looked to Methua in shock. "WHAT!?" They yelled together.

Methua actually looked rather sad. "As I said, I regret it. I have had more fun with this than I've had in a very long time. But this is more important to me than having fun. And, as of now, the score is one against negative four, in my favor. You lose. Your souls belong to me now."

"Now who's going back on their word. You said we'd all have our chance to challenge you." Kathy was more upset that she didn't have her chance than anything. "Besides, you're just afraid we'll come up with challenges that you can't win, but we'll triumph in yours."

Methua shook his head sadly. "No, such is not the case. I am convinced that something is wrong here, and I am determined to figure it out. Although it may be some consolation to you that it will be a while before I continue my crusade." He began walking towards them, and they would find that they would be unable to move or do anything should they try.

OOC: Don't fight it. Just go with the flow. Trust me.

OOC: *Swears profusely and in multiple languages.* I'd feel safer around the ever regenerating Mond...

IC: What are you doing!? Zena was screaming in his head as the ground became soft with every step he took. Anyone got any ideas? she asked the rest, ignoring any qualms they had against her invading their heads.

The ground around Methua automatically hardened whenever Methua neared it. He soon reached Zena, and smiled sadly at her. "I do honestly regret doing this, but a deal is a deal after all. Try not to struggle, hmm? It will just make it that much more painful."

I'm high priestess of the Catholic church! You can't do this! She was furious and panicking. Multiple times she tried to throw Methua back and multiple times she failed. The same went for Joshua's blinking. He just managed to wobble back and forth a bit.

Methua smiled in a faintly amused way. "Fighting to the last, eh?" He grabbed Zena's chin, and looked into her eyes. "May you be accepted by your Lord, and be dran into my Goddesses loving embace." He told her. Suddenly a thought came into Zena's head. The voice was decidedly female, and most certainly did not belong to Methua. Tell him I am dissapointed.

WHO IN THE WORLD!? She screamed at the top of her mind for all to hear. Methua, there's someone speaking. She says she's disappointed and wants you to know. She was panicking beyond all reason now and Johsua and Kathy were confused beyond anything they'd experienced before.

Methua drew back, bewildered. The voice sighed. Use your voice Zena. This won't work if you do not use your voice. Don't worry about Methua, you can use your voice for now

Methua looked absolutely flabbergasted, and the voice ignored Zena's question. Good. Now say exactly as I do. You may be rather alarmed, but use my exact words. Say, 'I am very dissapointed Methua. You have deviated from your oaths, and have forgotten your begginings. You mat have this girl's soul, but always remember that you have dissapointed me, by your actions and what you have released. You are no longer one of mine.' Remember Zena, my exact words.

Zena put two and two together. You're his goddess aren't you? She looked Methua in the eyes. "I am very dissapointed Methua. You have deviated from your oaths, and have forgotten your begginings. You mat have this girl's soul, but always remember that you have dissapointed me, by your actions and what you have released. You are no longer one of mine." She was surprised at how much weight the words carried when she spoke them.

There was a sense of amusement from the voice, but she did not answer Zena's question. Now, I expect that Methua will go ahead with his plan of taking your soul. Do not worry about it, he now doubts himself, and thus is open to reason. The only thing you must do now, is willingly offer your soul. I will not be able to help if it is not willing. Methua looked around for a minute, obviously very confused, then shook his head and scowled. He walked back up to Zena, and looked back down into her eyes. "You are just trying to trick me." He grabbed her chin again, but not nearly as gently as before.

Zena's heart was pounding in sheer terror. She was on the verge of tears but looked to Methua. "I can't stop you," she said, her voice wavering. "But I will keep my word. You may have my soul." You better keep your word.

Methua looked rather surprised, but did not let go or back away as he had last time. Instead, he began drawing at Zena's soul. As it was willing, she would feel very little pain, and even a slight sense of euphoria. He continued to draw it out, but just as he nearly had it, he stopped, and his eyes widened in surprise. He sat there paralyzed, just about to finish drawing Zena's soul, for perhaps fifteen minutes, before he suddenly let go of both her chin and soul. He unexpectedly fell to his knees and began to weep, and everyone was released.

Zena fell to her knees, her soul returning to her. She shook in horror at what had just happened and Joshua rushed to her. He pulled her into an embrace and asked her. "What happened?"
"I think Methua's goddess contacted me and told me what to do. But I don't know. She won't answer my questions." What happened? she tried to ask the voice again.

I had a little talk with him, explained a couple things. He won't try to harm you any longer, and will in fact be of use in things to come. On that note, you'd best keep your husband and his mentor from killing him. In his current state, Methua would not struggle. Sure enough, as she said that, Aozora and Alehkra both tackled Methua, with obvious lethal intent.

OOC: I gotta go for a couple hours.

Blade and Sharpshot watched the whole series of events without words. It actually drew even Mirage away from the garden. "Divine intervention?" Said Mirage, breaking a certain silence amoung Blade and Sharpshot, "That's always the best kind..."

IC: Zena looked up to see Alehkra and Aozora trying to murder Methua. "Stop!" she yelled, hoping to get their attention. "His boss has said he's not going to harm us now." So just who are you? I don't mean to sound nosey, but I'm rather curious.

Tal didn't move. When Methua had mentioned that the games were over, he had slipped behind him, hidden in a wall. He was about to strike when Methua had frozen everyone, including Tal, even if he didn't know it. Now he was free, but he still felt like his every muscle was frozen. In his mind, he was having a furious debate with himself. Why did I hide like that? For the element of surprise, of course. But I left the others without protection! But it gave me a clear shot at him, and it was the smarter move. He could have stolen Zena's soul! I should have been able to protect her! Ah, but then you couldn't have killed him, then could you? Tal did his best to push away these thoughts of doubt as he tried to focus on the scene that was playing out at the moment.

OOC: I think he's picked up some of Zena's whole double personality thing or something....

Zena looked around, taking notice of who was there. "Hey, we're missing one. Tal, where did you get to?" Now let's pretend I'm not observant enough to know you're in a wall back there.

OOC: Methua's defeated, he can move.

Now he was free, but he still felt like his every muscle was frozen.

IC: Tal managed to move his leg in front of him somehow. He continued to do this, putting one leg in front of another, until he walked out of the wall and back to the others. "I'm right here." He did his best to keep his mind still and focus on the present.

Patrick sighed and shook his head. "We got lucky. Very very lucky. Even though my.." He licked his lips. "Abilities were granted through non-arcane means, something snapped in Methua. I'm sure everyone could feel it." He sighed again and seemed to sag from within. "I- I should feel elation shouldn't I? I- I just... I feel this sort of... nevermind, to hard to explain".

Edward gave Patrick a curious glance. "You allright?" Edward felt a tug, ever so slightly, on the very edges of his mind. Patrick's face contorted into a grimace of disgust. "Perfectly, one hundred percent, a-okay." Edward shrugged as Patrick stalked off into the dark.

"What's got their panties in a bundle?" Kathy asked. She tended to regard men as the weaker sex and wasn't afraid to voice that opinion.
"Haven't a clue." Joshua said.
"Me either." Zena agreed.

"I... I think I'll talk to Patrick." Tal turned and began walking over to where Patrick had headed. He suddenly realized that he was gripping his sword, and he released it immediately. He walked into the dark area Patrick had walked into. "Patrick?"

Edward shook his head as he over heard the conversation. "Its long, complicated, and incredibly boring. Now unless you want me to speak in mono-tone for a few hours, I suggest you drop it."

"I... I think I'll talk to Patrick." Tal turned and began walking over to where Patrick had headed. He suddenly realized that he was gripping his sword, and he released it immediately. He walked into the dark area Patrick had walked into. "Patrick?"

Patrick whirled around, cigar nearly dropping from the corner of his mouth. "I,ah, wouldn't come any closer. Believe me, you don't want t-" He caught himself as he was reaching for Tal's mind. "Look, long story short, my gene mods, the one that let me do what I do, its uh.... kind of... its hard to describe."

"Try me." He walked closer to Patrick. He had noticed a strange feeling in his mind. "Wait, so you can read minds too or something? Trust me, I'm used to that."

Patrick took several steps back. "Not just that. Its my gene mods, they're, well, not technicaly human. Actually demonic DNA. Thing is, while my telekinetic skill is waning, my telepathy is, well, getting exponentialy stronger. The last time this happened, I turned an entire briefing room into ashes in seconds flat, the dmonic DNA hungers for more life essence..."

Patrick scowled and re-lit his cigar yet again.

Edward chuckled as he saw Tal come back. "So, did you get the usual 'I know more about whats better for me than you' speech?"

Edward laughed. "Considering most humans these days either openly scorn the Catholic god or worship another, they like the free will the fall has brought. I usually wouldn't say much different, I was never a church-going man myself." Edward shrugged. "But, Patrick is the President of the RUS, what he says is the equivilent of the word of god, usually."

Tal raised his eyebrow at this. "What are you talking about? God is all about free will. Humans are free to choose to stray from him, aren't they? He simply asks of us to be good and follow the laws he has given us. Humans should be thankful to follow them since he gives them eternal life in heaven."

Edward chuckled. "Angels, you guys never cease to crack me up. Believe it or not, but the war essentialy shattered the religious, hell, from what I heard from various census reports, most of the world is Atheist or some other religion. Sorry to say, but the big guy lost points for avoiding the conflict. A small army of angels versus the hordes of hell..."

For ungrateful people like you. You should be careful what you say about my God, because he's the one who's keeping the world from falling into chaos." Tal released his sword. "But I shouldn't bother saying this. You don't seem to care what God does, now do you?" With that, he turned and began walking to Zena and the others.

We will always be helping, even when we aren't wanted." He continued walking, his hand on his sword again.

Tal didn't respond to Edward's last comment. He didn't need to. He had already made his point, and he wasn't in the mood to argue anymore. Sorry about before Zena, I just had to be careful. Last I checked, you were the High Priestess of the one true living God. Unless you agree with Edward? Tal was feeling very irritable, and he wasn't even sure why. Tal didn't respond immediatlely. I can't put my trust in a false goddess. However... I can trust you Zena. If you think that is true... that will have to suffice for me. He sighed and turned his back to the others. In which case... the world is safe yet again, everything worked out for you all.... I suppose this is goodbye.

Zena.... Tal was even more hesitant than Zena had been. I don't think it matters. The world is safe for now, and.... well, my job is finished. I will have to leave on my next mission once I am sure the loose ends here are taken care of.

We pretty much finished up whatever we had to do with Methua, Umbra left you. He sent out a massive wave of his dark lightning at B and flew off with Tal, that was awhile ago. And so your guy is alone.

OOC: Sure thing. Basically, we wanted to get Umbra away (again), so right before he left, he unleashed a huge dark energy attack on Beelzebub, then flew away without seeing if he survived. There was a cloud of dust, so who knows what happened? Everything else was with the others. Methua is apparently not trying to hurt people anymore, and I think Mer hinted that he will become one of the good guys or something? That's what I've gotten so far anyway.

Lighning was all around UMbra and his scythe, he brought his hand to send out a wave of his dark electricity when he heard Tal. "What?! NOW?! Damn her! Damn her and her mission!" The clouds parted but the electricity still gathered around him. In his fury he sent a mental message out. WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT FROM ME NOW ZENA??!!!!!

"I apologize. I was just checking on you, you were gone for awhile, when she insisted I bring you along." Tal hadn't seen Umbra like this before, and it was somewhat awe-inspiring, if not intimidating. He had completely ignored Zena's response.

Zena recoiled a bit at Umbra. NOW THAT'S NOT VERY NICE! ALL I WANTED WAS A LITTLE HELP TO, I DON'T KNOW, SAVE THE SOULS OF EVERYONE ON THE PLANET! She was louder than ever before. BUT APPARENTLY YOU'RE TOO BUSY TO HELP SAVE THE WORLD. ONCE IS YOUR LIMIT I GUESS. IF YOU FEEL YOUR PERSONAL NEEDS ARE GREATER THAN THE REST OF THE PLANET, WE'LL JUST LEAVE YOU BE. Umbra let out a loud roar that would be heard hundreds of miles away, it shattered glass and caused pipes and buildings to crumble in the immediate area. Pyro had entrusted him with something and now he was being held back by Zena, it actually pissed him off. WELL THEN DO IT WITHOUT ME!! i MADE A PROMISE TO PYRO AND I'M NOT GOING BACK ON MY WORD!! YOUR FEELINGS BE DAMNED!!!

Tal's hands flew to his ears as everything around him shattered. He wasn't sure what Umbra was thinking, but he could tell by his yell that he was angry. However, Tal stayed right where he was.

WAS IT TOO HARD TO TELL ME THAT BEFORE YOU STARTED SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER!? It was as if an entire football stadium full of Zena's were upon Umbra. IF YOU HAD SOMETHING TO DO, JUST SAY SO, DON'T FLIP OUT ON ME FOR NO APPARENT REASON! Her personality changed like someone flipping a light switch. So what exactly does Pyro have you doing?

Umbra took no effect from the mental noise that was filling his head and when Zena asked him about what he was doing for a change he calmed down. His rows of fangs receeded and his wings began to smoothen, Since you have to know, I'm supposed to be handling a demon here in Iceland you has been converting many chraches to Satanism. Here's the catch, due to Satan being destroyed by us, they worship him, and from his bragging he was apparently Satan's right hand. So needless to say, I have been a little busy.

So wait, they're worshiping someone dead? That's just wrong. Feel free to ask if you need any help reversing the damage. Feel free to keep Tal if you need him, but it'd be nice to get him back. It was as if she was loaning him out as an office temp.

Tal took his hands off his ears. They were still ringing, and a little blood was on his hand, but it didn't concern him. Whatever Zena's saying, I guess it's calmed him down a bit.

I am returning to your position as of now, I just need to offload some baggage. Umbra was now in his normal state of mind and looked up at Tal, "We will fly soon." He then swung his scythe, unleashing the entire payload of his dark power upon his flightless target. The ground exploded but Umbra wasn't going to wait to survey the damage, he knew he had done some damage, how much didn't matter to him. "Tal, as of now we fly."

Tal blinked as Umbra's attack hit the ground, then nodded. He began to fly off to where he had come from. He shouted back to Umbra, "Oh, and I'm not sure where the others are. And Zena still hasn't told me what's going on exactly, so be ready for anything, I guess."

IC: Zena nodded even though Tal wasn't in sight. Ya, I figured. But don't be afraid to drop in every once in a while. It keeps the cardinals in order when the see a soldier of god other than their boss.

Tal sighed. I wish it were that easy. I will if I can, believe me... I don't want to go another seven years without seeing you. He paused a moment. But it isn't very likely, I probably only will if it involves a mission. I will try though. He tried to sound hopeful with his last statement.

"Well now that this is over I guess I can leave." Said Sharpshot, "I'll see you later Blade." BLade took a glance at Sharpshot, "I'll be seeing you then." Sharpshot nodded and Mirage appeared at his side, "Well then, I suppose its time for us to leave. Goodbye all." Like that, Sharpshot and Mirage were gone.

Later that day, Sigurd Morningstar was executed for 1st degree murder. And at last, Iceland was safe.

Silverkin had arrived in Iceland for the execution, he was disapointed though. He had wanted to kill Beelzebub and now the demon had disappeared. He ended up leaving a few days later and reported back to base.

Tal was about to argue, but decided that it would be best not to try to ruin Zena's optimism. Or rather, he found that he couldn't. Instead, he just grinned. Not very good for a High-Priestess to be swearing at an angel, now is it?

Blade sighed, "I suppose this is one more goodbye, eh? I'll be sure to tell Umbra it's over. Wait, I'm sure Mirage took care of that already." He shrugged, "Well, whenever it's time to go, I'll go."

"You and me both." Kathy was behind Zena now, still carrying her wrench. "But we'll see them again, I know we will."
"Kathy's right. We didn't think we'd see them after the Garden, but I'm sure we will again now. It's been proven our destinies are intertwined." Joshua snuck up on them both and got an earful of wrench as a reward.

"Oh well, goodbyes are apart of life. And I'm not leaving until Lydia is ready so, meh." Blade sat down with his legs crossed, "Looks like I'm kinda stuck here for the meantime, eh?"

"So where are you and Lydia headed?" Joshua asked, nursing a bloody ear and probably a concussion too. "I hope Alehkra and Deserea will let me come back to their castle. And we know Zena and Kathy are going back to Rome."

"Not a clue, actually. I just follow, so much easier that way."

Patrick snorted. "Another round of good byes, we did this seven years ago..." He spun on his heel and walked off, lighting a cigar then flicking the match onto the hard earth.

Edward shrugged. "I'm not going back to the werewolf clans, I never found out if my brother died during the war, I'm going to take a nice long search, more or less to see how humanity is going to."

Tal shook his head. I guess as the High Priestess, that call is up to you. But I don't think I'll be using it anytime soon. Tal looked around, as everyone was leaving yet again. Zena..... Tal couldn't think of anything to say, which was unusual for him. He just turned around and looked her in the eyes briefly, then turned away again, wiping his eye with his hand. Heaven is calling me. I must leave soon.

Tal caught Zena in his arms and held her close, with a look of happiness and sadness on his face at the same time, if such a thing is possible. "Zena...." Tal took a moment to think of what to say next. "You two are nothing but trouble, aren't you? If you could, just be sure not to wait another seven years to stir up some more trouble, ok? I'd rather see you again before then." Tal wasn't sure whether or not he should let go yet, but he didn't want to, so he didn't.

Zena laughed. "We're trouble? Alehkra's the one that started all this. He made Joshua bring him to Aozora and I. And I don't know how much more trouble I could start, I've already completely reformed the Catholics. Maybe I should start on the Jehovia's Whitnesses next though I've made plans to start talking to the Lutherans, Methodists, and Greek orthodoxes. We've done so much with the Catholics, now we just need to keep going and get back to the days when everyone of them was just Christian." She too didn't know when to let go and so just kept hugging. "I hope Aozora and Alehkra stopped mauling Methua."

"I'd be happy to give you a lift." Joshua offered to Edward. "It's not like I won't be making other stops anyway."

Tal smiled. "That does sound nice. To just have Christians again... I wish you God's grace in your journey. And I suppose now I must go..." Tal hesitated for quite a bit, holding on to Zena as long as he could. Finally, he let her go with a final squeeze and took a step back. It was the hardest thing he felt that he had ever done, but he felt that she would want some alone time with Aozora after all of this, and as an angel he wasn't one to get in the way. He turned to the others. "Well, I suppose this is farewell again everybody... I wish you all well in your endeavors after this, even if our paths do not cross again. But I feel they will." He thought for a while before sending a message to Zena. You know Zena... a High Priestess who has the audacity to swear at an angel might not be fully capable of uniting all Christians by herself.... perhaps I will have to drop in on you from time to time, just to be sure you're doing your job correctly... I have to warn you, I can be very strict. He smiled softly at her as he turned around, all the while glancing at the others to see if they had anything to say.

IC: Zena would hear a small cough in her head, followed by the voice again. I'd suggest you stop your companion's from leaving, Zena. This isn't over just yet. My misguided disciple was merely a symptom of the true problem. The voice was silent for several seconds, then said, You know, you and that angel were rather offensive. Who are you to say whether I am a goddess or not? Suddenly she chuckled. Though I can't say as I blame you, seeing as how uptight and strict your God is. I've never been able to convince him that he should just let his followers live out their life simply having fun and loving one another.

Just then, Alehkra and Aozora walked up, Aozora dragging an unstruggling Methua by the hair.

Blade looked up to Aozora, "Geez, the guy's harmless and you still make a fucking scene out of it..."

Aozora scowled at him. "Have the guy try to steal your wife's soul, then you can tell me to calm down. 'Till then, I'd advise you to shut the fuck up. He is only lucky that I've not killed him yet, as I am sorely tempted to."

Aozora snorted. "Course not. I am simply extremely angry right now, and therefore, I really couldn't care less if someone tells me to calm down. Tal turned around. Oh, right, I forgot about him. I guess I was thinking too much about.... He shook his head clear of thoughts, then walked up to Methua. "No, Zena doesn't think we should kill him... but what do we do then? I'm all ears, really, I'd like to make it quick whatever it is."

There are no other gods or goddesses, only those who fool themselves and others into believing they are. And this is a serious situation, as you said, and is not a time for fun. My life is not meant to have fun. I was created by God, for God's purpose. Angels are the hands of God, the weapons of God, simply an extension of his will. He, in his graciousness, allowed angels to have fun, but it is never a priority. Now, are you ready to tell me what exactly is happening here, or is this really that amusing to you? Haha, yes Tal, this amuses me to no end. You may believe whatever you wish, I try not to force myself on others, as that is considered rape in many cultures. However, should you ever wish to be freed of your ignorance, just ask for the Goddess Nala. Having fun should always be a priority, my dear deluded angel, as without it, life has no meaning. And I serve my Lord not out of duty, but out of love to him and the world I serve. This is the path that has been set for me, and I have accepted it with great enthusiasm. He theorizes that it would be the right thing to do, as the other man is unable to work, and so does not only his own work, but that of the other man. This is simply the idea of kindness being used to cover slavery, which it really is. Was it the mans fault his partner broke his back? No. Sure, he should help out, as that is true kindness, but he should not take over the job, as that is covering slavery in sweet words to hide the bitterness.

Josh is here somewhere... Jeez, we have a party don't we?" He looked to Blade, who at this point had sat up, "Hey Umbra." Said Blade with a nod and a wave, Umbra smiled, "Hey Blade. So.... anyone wanna update me on the situation?"

Zena looked up from a slight trance. "Guys, a message. First, Tal, she's liking your no swearing talk. Second, I have yet to hear your 'no sex before marriage' talk that she mentioned. Third, Someone turned Methua down his 'life is misery' path because she is claiming to be the goddess of 'love and the night' who teaches her 'disciples to take joy in life.' So who do we know that 'revels most in death'?"
"Well, there's uncle Lucy. But we killed him." Joshua said, still in loathing of his family tree.
"There's the blood goddess if memory serves." Kathy continued.

With that, Tal did what he had done earlier. He completely hid his brain by bending the signals around it. Now, his brain no longer gave out comprehensible or detectable brain waves, and it could no longer receive them either.

Tal sighed and turned to Zena and the others. "I know, I've talked to her. And I have as of yet had no reason to bring up that certain discussion, and I get the feeling I was wise to do so. Actually, you're only half right. There is an Angel of Death. But only one. It was his... job to kill all the humans on the Passover. Only he kills humans, and only when he must. This job is shared by no other angels. He hasn't had to do so in a very long time however. As it was the command of God, he didn't sin and is still in God's grace. But I am quite sure that he had nothing to do with Methua. As for the person who 'revels most in death'.... I think that it is too far open to interpretation. If this person really wants us to figure it out bad enough, she'll tell us some more."

Tal shrugged. "Once again, he isn't likely to want to reveal himself. That's really all I can say."

"Psh, fair enough." Umbra sat cross legged on the ground, "You guys always seem to be uptight about something."

Tal shrugged again. "We usually are. Angels have their secrets too." Tal sat back down, leaning on a wall. "You're not exactly an open book either, you know."

"Yeah, but that's because I have things no one should know. I also am self-titled, Keeper of Secrets. And because I worked so long as Gold's informant, a lot of people actually want to see me dead." Umbra said with a shrug, "Speaking of being a demon that fights for humanity... What does your god think of me?"

"Angels have secrets that they can't reveal also. But Umbra.... my God had a message for you if you ever asked about that. Here it is. 'Umbra, my child. You have proved again and again that you have the good of others set before your own. You may be a demon, but you are also humane. I offer you the same that I offer any human, eternal life through forgiveness. All I ask is for you to repent, accept my forgiveness, and you will be saved. Umbra, I who have created all things love everything I have created equally. You have renounced your demonic ways, it would seem. All I ask is that you accept my love and my son. But that decision is up to you." Tal quieted, waiting to see how Umbra would respond.

"Huh, well isn't that lovely. I'll have to tuck that somewhere safe for the time being. Now then, if all I really need to do is repent and accept forgiveness than so be it." Umbra smiled as he put the note in his pocket, "But unfortunantly I can't do that yet. I have a feeling that no matter what I do, whether I walk in darkness or light, I'll have to sin in some way or another. I may as well jus wait until my dying breath and do it all at once." Umbra shrugged and smiled, "And how long were you gonna keep that from me? Or did your God know I was gonna ask?"

"Tal, you misunderstand me. I meant that if he had messed with Methua he would have sinned. And how is it not a title of glory? It's morbid sure, but it was God's will and God's way of delivering a message that had to be delivered." Zena said. "It's not fun or joyous or anything, but it is a necessity."

Tal simply returned the grin to Umbra. "The Lord works in mysterious ways, does He not?" He then turned around to Zena. "I said it was highly unlikely for him to have done so. And maybe you're right about that, but it seems the Angel of Death's opinion on the matter is different. Maybe he would just rather be known as an Angel of the Lord instead of the Angel of Death. It does have a nicer tone to it."

The Goddess laughed in Zena's head. Your angel amuses me. He actually thinks he can keep me out of his mind. Well, I think I'll let him think me confounded, then surprise him one day. And you are correct Zena, it is the so-called Angel of Death. Tal is correct insofar as he knows, but think about this. Death has killed many humans in his time, regardless of how long ago it was. And angel or not, killing sometimes becomes enjoyable to those who do it. He began to relish the feel he got from killing humans those long years ago, of knowing that he had the power to end their life. He revels in the knowledge that he can decide on a mere whim whether a person lives or dies. But he hasn't been able to do such a thing for a very long time, and he gets bored, so to speak. He longs for the feeling he gets, and so concieves of a plan involving my poor Methua. He knows that my discpiple thinks too deeply on things, gives to much thought too that which he should let be. So he decides to influence his thoughts. As knowladgeable and powerful as my Methua is, he is not a match for Death himself, for regardless of what Tal may believe, that is what he is. He thinks that if he gets Methua to start stealing the souls of so many innocents, his God will order him to get involved, and give him free rein to deal with him. So, he would dispose of my poor child, who is of no more use to him, and use the free rein your God has given him to begin judging humanity, or so he says. And so, he is able to once more revel in the feel of death, and be able to claim his God's backing at the same time.

"You're joking!" Zena burst out. She was furious that this could happen. Forgetting the goddess used her mind to communicate she kept talking. "But if that were the case, wouldn't he have been forced from heaven? He sinned and should be a fallen angel by now." Joshua and Kathy looked like Zena had gone crazy, and she probably had in their minds.

Surprisingly, the voice of the Goddess was dead serious now. If there is one fault we divinities have, it is that we are entirely too trusting of our chosen ones. I for one never thought that my dear Methua could ever do the things he has done, and yet, here we are. Your God is no less faulted in this way. He could not concieve that one of his most beloved angels could ever do such a thing. The problem is, he has already given Death the free rein which he sought. He was just about to dispose of my child when you people got involved, and decided to wait it out. And before you ask, it is not so simple a matter for us to declare one of ours Fallen, especielly not when we have given them free rein.

"So what do you suggest we do? I mean, Tal could just go talk to our boss. That would do the trick. Besides, he's killing for the fun of it. That's beyond the limits of free reign." Zena was still speaking, blissfully unaware of what she was doing. "I mean, think about it. He just likes to kill and even with free reign, it's feeding that urge."

The Goddess sighed. There are rules about these things dear Zena. Not only has he given Death free reign without any rules, but divinities are not allowed to interfere directly with mortals. Truth be told, I am right now bending the rules greatly by even talking with you about it. My only justification is that I am not with you physically, and have no intention of doing anything about this renegade angel personally.

"Ok, first, we don't know if I'm mortal or not. I'm half angel after all. Second, God has messed with mortals for years. He created everything for pete's sake. If that's not meddling, I don't know what is." Zena's retort was almost comical. "At any rate, this isn't meddling with mortals. This is preserving his faithful population. Something that helps him as well as me."

There came another laugh. In the grand scheme of things, we consider angels, or others chosen by the gods such as my Methua for instance, to be mortals. They can die, just not by age. I said nothing of meddling, only of interfering. The justification matters not. And creating is not meddling. We are expected to create species, and then to let them live as they see fit. All of the times a god has supposedly taken a direct hand in things, was really done by one of his or her chosen, in your gods case angels.

Umbra was intrigiued by the conversation Zena was having. Even though he couldn't hear what she was talking to. "Alright, dammit. Someone, gimme a line to this thing, I wanna talk to it too."

Tal looked over at Zena. "It seems they're talking about something else now." He turned to Umbra. "This 'goddess' seems to want us to destroy somebody for her. I don't think it is a good idea to rush into this head-first. What do you think?"

"Pssh, I don't just merc for people cause they want me to. I want some info on this guy, and if possible a location." Said Umbra.

"Exactly. I'm still not convinced we should be listening to this person at all." Tal glanced over at Zena. "None of this is making any sense."

"Of course it isn't, whatever this thing is, it obviously feels like only speaking to Zena and leaving us in the dark. Which I think is bull, personally. Now then, if it can't talk to me, I have no reason to follow it."

Tal just shook his head. "I don't like this either. Usually a strange voice in your head claiming to be a goddess, always laughing, and telling you to kill somebody is bad news. There's something else about this though... but I can't put my finger on it."

"There's always something, the only thing to do now is to wait for Zena to either go into some detail about what is going on. Or I can wait for whatever or whoever this 'Goddess' is to start speaking to the group as a whole instead of playing favorites."

"Trust me, talking to her isn't exactly joyful. I still don't get why everybody like to argue with an angel."

"Well in my case it's simply because you and I are kinda like polar opposites. Minus the fact that I have apparently gotten into God's graces... speaking of which, this isn't going to cause the universe to end or something is it?"

"True... and I wouldn't worry about that. Umbra, you're a good person, and God has recognized this."

Umbra smiled at this, "Well don't expect me to be coming up anytime soon. I have quite a few things left to do before I leave this world. Beelzebub being near the top of my list of 'things to kill.'"

"You ever fought in a war before?" asked Medunia.

Tal laughed. "I'm not asking you to die. Don't worry about it, it's not like I have plans to retire soon either. But I am ready to if I have to."

"I suppose when I repent I'll have to release all the souls I captured using this scythe. Wonderfully scary thing, this scythe. The acts I've performed with it are probably some of the more... distasteful things that I've done during my lifetime."

Tal shrugged. "Everybody has something to hide, but you don't have to worry. If you are truly sorry for what you have done and confess it to God, God will forgive you. It's that simple. And as much as I love preaching the news of God, you already seem somewhat convinced, and we still have a situation on our hands. Or we are supposed to anyway. I don't see anything else to do here, but that odd voice seems to think otherwise."

"Umbra?" Great, now she's in his head too. Ugh, I suppose I better get back out there so she doesn't try any funny business on the others. He released the protection on his mind, so it could once again receive telepathic messages. Don't make me regret this, if you can even hear this.

There came a giggle. Do you have any idea just how amusing I find you Tal? I'm actually tempted to come there physically, just to have fun with you. What do you say, would you like to see a Goddess in the flesh?

Tal sighed. Will what I say make any difference?

She laughed. Of course it will Tal, I do believe in free will after all. I may come anyways, but most likely not. It takes a great deal of effort for a divinity to be in the mortal world, and I wouldn't like to waste it.

Tal frowned. He was running out of options. If you come here... will you explain the situation, and this whole dilemma you seem so concerned about?

She seemed to be thinking for a minute, then replied, Yes, but realise that I will do absolutely nothing to actually help you. It is not out of malice, mind, but there are rules against that sort of thing. As I explained to Zena, I am greatly bending said rules right now.

Tal sighed. He didn't think this was a good idea at all, but... this person had saved Zena. He paused for a while. Yes. Please come. I would like to know of this peril, and I need your help to find it. I am sorry if I was rude, and I understand that you cannot interfere with mortal affairs directly. Please come.

She seemed rather surprised. Really? Well, that is rather unexpected...well, be right there in a moment... Several minutes passed by with nothing happening, and then suddenly, a little girl, looking to be about six or seven, appeared next to Tal. "Happy?" She asked.

Tal glanced down at the girl. "Truthfully, no. But I am very grateful for you coming here, and your help with Methua earlier."

The girl smiled. "Of course. Though truth be told, I did it more for my Methua than for any of you. Not that I'm not fond of you to some degree of course. You are immensely fun to argue with, and Zena seems like a nice young lady."

Tal simply continued to look at the girl. "I figured as much. And I suppose I'm supposed to take that as a compliment?"

The girl giggled. "Of course you are. As I mentioned earlier, I see having fun as a priority in life, and therefore you making me have fun is most definetly a compliment."

Tal held back a sigh. "Right. I suppose we have different priorities then. So, are you going to tell me what this is all about?"

"Well now, we finally get to meet you." Joshua said, extending a mechanical hand to shake the little girls.
"Interesting choice for an appearance though." Kathy commented while scratching her head with her wrench. She was puzzling over the choice of a little girl rather than a woman.
"While I thank you for the compliment, you never answered my question about Jesus interfering with humanity. Did he or did he not when he came and died on the cross?"Zena had questions and she didn't seem to be getting any answers.

"No, I just found it rather odd that where most deities would usually pick a body in it's mid twenties, the prime of physical fitness and health, you picked one much younger. It's odd certainly, but a nice change of pace." Kathy said. She couldn't believe she was having this kind of a conversation with a goddess.
Zena laughed at the little girl calling her "dear" even though she was revolted at what she said of the Son of God. "Tal's right. We've been chatting and chatting and chatting, but we're not getting anywhere. You've told us you want us to do something, but you haven't told us what."

Nala sighed, and without answering, walked up to Zena, and held her arms out to her. "Before we continue, can I have a hug? It is very uncomfortable for me to talk of this, and coming here in the flesh took a lot out of me. As I said, I thrive on love, and I get the feeling its near impossible for an angel to not feel love whilst holding a child. So, if not rejuvinating, a hug would at the very least make me feel better."

Zena laughed a bit. "Oh what the heck." She picked Nala up and pulled her into an embrace while Josh felt the scene needed yet more craziness than had already ensued. He conjured an armchair which rose beneath Zena, knocking her into it. "I suppose it's fitting." Zena chuckled, actually letting out a smile.

Nala smiled happily, and snuggled deeper into her arms. "Alright then, I'm ready." She did indeed sound much less tired after the hug. "Now, ask away."

Zena chuckled as Joshua conjured more chairs. He and Kathy took two of them and Joshua ignored the frivolous look on Zena's face. "Alright then, exactly who is doing this and why?" he started

Tal decided to stay standing. He thought that this person seemed to respond to Zena much better, so he should leave this to her.

"I think I already told you. Well, leastwise I told Zena." She answered. "It is the so-called Angel of Death." She looked at Tal and grinned. "Come now Tal, have a seat. No need to be so formal."

She nodded. "Whatever you wish dear. If you are getting impatient, ask around the vampires. There are a couple that could get you to her."
