Kathy barked out a laugh. "Probably not. But that only explains one child, not the twins."

Joshua's eyebrow removed itself from the rest of his hair. "Well then, I'll keep that in mind."

Alehkra waved that off. "Bah, among my people, the only reason twins would elict comment would be because of the low number of pups."

"You're known for multiple births though." Zena stated. "Humans, the norm is one child. That's why when someone had 5 or 6 kids at one time, the media goes nuts. Or at least went nuts."

Alehkra sighed. "I've never gotten how you can multiply like rats with only one child per birth. No offense. In my day, even with six or seven births per litter being the norm, we only had around one and a half million people. Then, constant civil war might have affected the population somewhat."

Alehkra waved that off. "Bah, among my people, the only reason twins would elict comment would be because of the low number of pups."

Patrick laughed. "You know Al, humanity isn't well known for its reproductive capacity. And then there's the fact that sometimes the gender balance is way off, hence the interpsecies couples and children. Probably in about twenty years the humans in the RUS will be a minority. Part of me wants to say that's a bad thing, but another part of me thinks its time humanity got some new genetic material."

Alehkra smiled. "I suppose I could say the same for the wolves. I don't think theres been any alteration to my people since we went to peace with my mate's people, about two thousand years ago."

"We also spread out so much and forged civilizations that were able to war and still grow. Not to mention that women and children were always considered taboo to murder." Kathy said. "And to top it off, we had civilizations grow and grow without wars and civilizations that conquered and spread out. It wasn't uncommon for a couple to have 8 or 9 kids that then had 8 or 9 kids of their own once they married."

Patrick nodded. "True, and besides, human ingenuity mixed with whatever other supe's abilities, one hell of a species right there. Only thing I can forsee that would impeed this are purists." Patrick shrugged. "Then again, massive wars cummulating in millions of casualties and mass epidemics had become rare in the world that was, that's why our population exploded. Sometimes I think we got a bit to peaceful for our own good."

Alehkra actually looked extremely offended. "What, so you think we killed females and pups? If that were allowed, we'd have killed each other off long ago. However, when I was young, oh so long ago, it was fully expected that a male would die before his twentieth year in a war, and his mate would soon follow him from grief."

"You've never looked at the Middle East have you?" Kathy asked Pat.
"Well there you have it. 20 years compared to 40 or longer from a human for the average." Zena said. "And then with advances making them live longer, well, that's your population boom."
Mereshka
03-08-2008, 05:21
Alehkra grinned. "Although, those who did not die in that period usually lived to be several hundred years old."
Sylvonia
03-08-2008, 05:23
"That may be true, but humans kept breeding and breeding and eventually the killings slowed to the point where you were killing much more than us." Kathy pointed out. "Now will our birth rate much larger than our death rate, bam, population boom."

Patrick laughed manically. "Actually, yes, I've been there. Thing is, that kind of conflict isn't helpful, especially when fueds carry on long after those that caused it are dead. Eventualy they would've wiped themselves out but..." He spread his hands. "This. With the world as it is, old hatreds tend to be wiped out as the relatively small groups wipe each other out. Also, desperation was a good reason, take a look at the humans of the RUS and the werewolf clans."

Patrick laughed again. "I'm a soldier, I'm destined to die on the battlefield, not peacefully. But, self preservation does tend to like me, so does luck and the best in ceramic body armor."

Connor grinned. I've died once, won't mind dying again."

03-08-2008, 05:31
"Dying painfully in battle is good?" Kathy inquired. "I always wanted to grow old, have kids, then die peacefully either in my sleep or quickly and painlessly surrounded by my family. Then again, I'm an optimist."

Patrick shrugged. "Difference of opinion. I wouldn't mind dying in my sleep, as long as I know I served as a soldier." He rapped the ceramic chestplate of his armor. "And this has something to do with it. Can stop anything from a sword up to a glancing shot from a fifty."

"Probably crack my armory. Don't try it though, this stuff needs to last until I can resupply, then you can go ahead and crack it all you want."

Connor began to pace in an endless circle. "So, when exactly are we going to kill that angel?"
Mereshka
03-08-2008, 05:40
Alehkra shook his head. "My point exactly. Humans are odd. There is no other way to die with honor than in battle. Among us, dying by other means is worse than torture. We know that if you die in battle, than you can return to the Moon with your head held high. Leastwise if you are male. Females must bear pups."

"Depending on where he is, a few quick calls could get the entire third shotgunners here. Believe me, those guys are supe hunters, not only are they damn hard to kill, but they get even more powerful by feeding off the emotions, pain and suffering of battle. I don't think he would stand a chance if we engage the angel of death on a battlefield where he has killed humans."

"Superior firepower. Thats not really a plan, but it gives us a chance. Josh, if you can blink anywhere, I could have you assemble the shotgunner, that would give us a little of a start... The werewolf clans would be a good addition to our forces, but even if he is the angel of death, I doubt he could stand against us and dozens of others."

"Do you think Angels are susceptible to the same chemicals that knock humans out? If so, bring me along. I know so many drug cocktails to knock humans out it's not funny. "My presidential gaurd, the cream of the crop, there's only five of them, but each one is geneticaly modified and injected with the latest in nanotech. Deserae shrugged, and simply said, "Thank you. And to answer your question, Joshua, there is a vampire named Iletta who can blink large groups. And, to answer you question, she was born in the time when we were still at war with the wolves, and so has no fondness for them, but she'll still teleport them if I tell her to."

03-08-2008, 06:16

03-08-2008, 06:23

Five tall humans dressed in bulky full length blue trench coats entered the basement. "Hey, what took you so long?" The lead presidential guard snorted. "Sorry, bad traffic." He did a look over of all the assembled. "So, this is all? I thought you'd have a much larger force."

One of the larger werewolves laughed. "We will be plenty for one angel, human. My only wonderment is that the Alpha even needs help with this one." He said, reffering to Alehkra.

One of the larger werewolves laughed. "We will be plenty for one angel, human. My only wonderment is that the Alpha even needs help with this one." He said, reffering to Alehkra.

"Plenty for one Angel. Not likely." The guard's snorted. "All of you to kill one angel. Pathetic." Patrick stepped in front of him. "What is your major malfunction soldier!" He shouted at him. "These are our allies, not the army, you will cooperate with them, do you understand me soldier?!" The lead guard saluted, somehow making it into a mocking gesture. "Yes sir, General Harker sir." Patrick's face contorted into a sneer before stepping back. "One more word out of you Harrison, and you'll be flying back to Anchorage faster then you can say oh shit. You here me!" Harrison nodded. "Yes sir."
Edward stepped forward. "Charles?" Charles' head snapped towards Edward, "Eddy? You're dead... aren't you?"

Charles face paled, he seemed to crumple on the inside as if he took a blow to his gut. "Edward... what... what have you done?"
Edward frowned. "I chose who I was going to be, what I was going to be." Charles face hardened, outright rage bordered his eyes. "Then, you are not Eddy my brother, you are Edward, the monster."

Connor thought for a moment. "Well, orders are to follow whatever the priorities ask, so.." He patted Charles on the cheek. 'Have fun being torn into a bloody mess." Charles grunted then dusted himself off when Connor released him. "You, you are not the root of my problem. Who made Edward what he is?"

While Charles was ranting, Patrick tapped Connor on the shoulder. "Connor, do your thing." Connor's face brightened into a broad grin. "Can I? Yeah, you're the best boss!" His voice full of an almost creepy joy. he cracked his knuckles and sought out Charles mind, shutting off the rational center and creating nightmarish images.
Charles ceased his ranting as horror spread like lightining across his face. His eyes bugged out as he fought off invisible enemies, then fell thrashing and screaming to the floor.

03-08-2008, 21:18
Alehkra smiled satisfactorily. "Thank you." He said to Patrick. "Truth be told I was near ready to killing him myself." He gave a very level look to him. Mereshka
03-08-2008, 21:35
Alehkra sighed. "You can genetically enhance them all you want, but you can't genetically give them experience, of which Cecilia has several hundred years worth."

"That's true." Patrick nodded. "But that why we have such brutal training these days, help make up for that lack of experience."

Mereshka
03-08-2008, 21:48

Patrick mumbled something. "How powerful exactly is the angel of death? If he's anything like the various supe's we've fought, it'll be no problem once we start putting alot of lead in the air. We only lost to the war seven years ago through numbers."

OOC: Well, Syl was right... I'm back!

IC: Zena's shadow seemed to darken momentarily. It yawned in her head. Hmm... that was quite a pleasant nap. Sorry to intrude so, but I was tired. Odd, I've never been tired before... but I've never lost before either, tee hee. Anyway, I was hoping to stick around and watch. You seem like an interesting bunch. I understand you might not like this, so I'll answer one more question for you. One I'd have thought you would've asked earlier. Of course, I'll leave if you want, but if you let me stick around, I might even answer more questions as a type of rent eventually. Either way, I'd like to stay. So, can I? Otherwise I'll just start hunting people again for fun! The voice began to giggle at this, like a young child.

Tal stood up. He sheathed his sword, his arm steady, his face as if set in stone. He looked up at Leon. "I'm ready for whatever comes next."

OOC: Will Tal get the awesome black robes/sword/whatever stuff? Just curious.

She was careful to avoid actually asking a question knowing that it would probably count as her one question.

The voice giggled again. Oh, I like you! I was right to choose you! Well, if you insist... I'm just wondering why you weren't concerned about the fear I chose to use on you. You're not going to ask about any of that? I mean, you have to give me some credit. I'm not just mindlessly making random things happen when I try to scare people. So, you're sure nothing about that makes you curious about anything? It was also careful not to tell Zena exactly what question it had in mind, to see if she could guess it.

You want me to ask how you knew my fears. Zena stated plainly.

The voice was silent for a moment. No, no, isn't that already obvious? I saw into you mind, which by the way, was the best protected I've ever seen. Plus, I've been following you for a while. It sighed. Must I spell it out for you? I hope you turn out to be more interesting then that. Fine then, I'll just tell you this without the question. What I showed you... was not complete nonsense. It was a warning of sorts. What you saw... it what will happen if you allow this events to go on their course. Tal has already begun to train as an Angel of Death to help Leon. He has killed humans. This seemed to bring the voice back into a good mood, because it began to giggle again. Soon, he will have to kill you and his other 'friends'. By then, he won't even think anything of it. Soon, he'll be no better than me, killing all he holds dear! The voice broke into another fit of laughter, amused to no end. So, is that what you wanted to hear? The voice strained to control its laughter as it said this, but to no avail.

Zena fell into the chair behind her. "You're joking." She finally spoke aloud. Zena was mortified at the thought. "You've got to be joking." She abandoned any care that someone would find her crazy and continued on. "So then here's my question. I don't want a simple answer, I want details, lots of them. How do we make sure that never happens?"
Talrania
04-08-2008, 02:25
The voice gave off a feeling of a frown to Zena. Now wait a second. You said you wanted the question I thought you should ask and the answer. I gave it to you. I'm not going to argue, that's all you get for now. But just out of my.... caring nature.... I'll tell you this much anyway. I can't tell you the answer to that. If I told you, it would mean nothing. He's your friend, not mine, right? Or at least he was your friend anyway. The voice chuckled a little at this. No, that's something you have to figure out on your own.
Sylvonia
04-08-2008, 02:35
Ah, but word play is something Joshua taught me. I said I wanted to know, but I never said you had to tell me nor did I ask. And I'm going to assume your answer is your way of copping out of the question. She was back to thought speech, but her mouth kept moving with the words.

The shadow used Zena's voice as it said this, as if it had recorded it. That's what you said, word for word. I did as you asked. Besides, the way I see it, me telling you these things is more of a gift then anything I owe you. I'm not bound by strict rules like some genie or anything. I just made it up, since I was feeling gracious in defeat. Or can't you understand that? I do what I say I will do, no matter how you think of it. But good try, nonetheless.

But I'll take that as a compliment either way. And the only reason I copied your voice was to make a point. Then again, I am all about doing anything to relieve the boredom, so whatever works for you.

Why, I'm flattered. But why does it matter how I do it? I'd rather not say, in case I ever decide to try it on you. The shadow giggled again at this. But don't worry. I wouldn't want to get on Zena's bad side, and I rather like staying around here, so I wouldn't try that for quite a while. You're the one they call Conner, no? To be honest, I've heard very little about you, but I think challenging you someday would be fun. How about it? Fear vs. Fear? Of course, not now, but someday perhaps? The shadow gave a rough laugh. It's nice to have my handiwork admired for once. I wish I could help one so eager, but I'm afraid I'm the only thing in this world I don't know much about. Ironic, no?

IC: The voice didn't respond immediately. Maybe it's just me, but the worst part of being like me is... well, the boredom between kills. Even after a while, the killing itself starts to get boring, but with you people.... well, it's a challenge. Something I haven't had in a long time. Should be fun.

Tal looked down. He had always had his sword with him. It was the only thing he had from his past, the only thing connecting him to the angel he once was. "No... If I am going to do this, I will do it your way. I won't need this anymore then." Tal removed his sword from his sheath, eyeing it one last time. He reached into his robe, pulling out a thin stack of gold ribbons he used to communicate with everyone, save Leon. I won't be needing these anymore. As he set them down, he sent a final blurb through the ribbon. Not even a word, just more of a mental signal, so that maybe somebody else might notice it, like Zena, and find his sword if she so chose. He then thrust his sword into the ground, pinning the last of his old self to the ground, along with his humanity. He stood up as he held the knife in his hand. "So, shall we go?"

Tal leaped from person to person. He did his best not to feel anything, he didn't think he could trust his emotions right now. He could feel his heart throbbing, as each person died, he felt... more alive. The sensation scared him, but he continued to kill. Whatever happens to my soul it worth it for the greater good. This thought kept him going, blood covering him as he killed without mercy.

Probably not, but I'll do it anyway. she replied. Her whole body began to glow from the energies of limbo.
Welcome to limbo everybody. We're about to face someone who's sole purpose is to kill, so be ready for anything. We're in the middle of everything and nothing right now, but once I pull us out of here, we could be facing the angel.

Tal was hacking down human after human, their cries falling on deaf ears. He turned to slash at one, and on the way noticed Leon smiling oddly. What? He's smiling? But why? Tal pondered this as he continued to kill without thinking about it. This feeling... of being alive... maybe it feels good to him? But... wait! This is the Lord's will. It's the right thing to do. It's always brought me joy before. No matter how gruesome, this is the day the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad in it! Tal allowed the corner of his mouth to curl up into a near-invisible smile as he slit a woman's throat, blood raining down on him. Yes, this feels right... this feels good. This is righteousness!

Beelzebub had been roaming the Earth for some time now. He kept his demonic activity to a minimum, so that it would be harder to track him down, and when he did do anything that might lead Umbra or Hell Guard to him, he was always gone within the hour. He was currently in Cairo, Egypt. He was preforming a Satanic ritual to regain some of his powers. There was a pentagram, painted on the floor with blood and candles surrounding the demon. In one hand he held a goblet with human blood, the other, he held a human skull. Beelzebub drank from the goblet and said a few words in Latin. The pentagram burst into flames. Beelzebub stood up, and ran away as fast as a speeding bullet. His power of speed was recovered.

Within the organization of Hell Guard, many operatives were aware of an increasing demonic activity. They already figured it was Beelzebub but that wasn't the largest concern at that point. Operatives were actually being sent to do minor things at this point, keep demonic activity at an overall low. There was no point in going after the big guy, not after what they'd learned from Umbra. The Angel of Death was indeed a problem but it wouldn't be a good idea to try and stop them, best to just wait for the problem to sol ve itself. Umbra on the other hand had forgotten aboue Beelzebub, e picked up demonic activity but never really bothered to go check it out. Ever since Tal had decided to blind himself Umbra found that life was very dull and unforgiving. He had since then returned to Celestial, where he could live peacefully watching over some of the last humans on the planet. Meanwhile, Pyro was glad to have some peace. It was obvious that Zena's human side was dominating, but she still managed to seal off a dedicated part, one that would try to reach the mind of the unborn Nala. If there was ever a time she owed and apology, it was now. It was also the time she needed advice most. Nala was now in human form, if developing and so could meddle and interfere at her heart's content. At least that was Zena's reasoning when she sent a message. Nala, I'm sorry with all my heart for what has happened, but you alone hold the knowledge that may help us win. With any luck, Nala's spirit and mind were still intact even if she was but a small bundle of stem cells.
Next she turned to her new shadow. I don't suppose you can help at all can you?
And last but not least, she turned to Tal. "I hope you realize your mistake and repent. What he says may make sense, but so did so many of the lies Lucifer spun." This was said with an edge never before heard in her voice, and yet sorrow and fear to the point of suffocation.

Zena's mind worked itself into a flurry. Three hours!? That's it!? Won't you at least have any memories of being a goddess? Aren't you in the same boat as Jesus now, a god in human form? Her personalities were beginning to separate again. How do we take down Leon? Can't we do something to declare him a fallen angel? What happens once you've lived out your life as a human? Is there a way to turn Tal back to our side? Her questions were like a swarm of bees, each going one after the other in a swarm unable to be stopped.

Patrick scoffed. "I don't think you realize, once you start systimaticaly annhilating humanity, we'll get pissed. Really pissed. It doesn't matter if you can fly, have a blade that can kill in one slice. There is a reason why medival tech isn't used on the battlefield today." He grinned. And no, I won't have any memories of being a goddess. I will know myself, and others will know me, as a normal human girl! As for Leon, the best thing you could do, would be to wait and get a plan! And after I die in my human form, I will go back to being a goddess.

Alright, moving past him, is there any way you can keep your memories or abilities in the event that you're needed? I was hoping you'd help with that plan bit, you know more than we do. As far as your lifespan is concerned, I'm not sure whether I want you stillborn or living to be 120.

Patrick laughed. "Who goes out alone? That's the benefits of squad mates, they can shoot the bastard behind you before he has a chance to get your throat." He nodded to the two presidential gaurds. "Thats why I brought the best I could get."

Well considering my situation, I can't really help much can I? And one of the prices exacted for me to be able to meddle with the human world is to actually be human. If I ever manage to figure it out, I'll have at least demi-god powers, but beyond that, I will be completely human.

I love how you ignore the stillborn comment. But at any rate, I refuse to let you go through your life not knowing who you are, er, were. I will help you as much as I can to get those powers. Zena was making a promise she didn't know if she could keep, but something in her gut told Zena that helping Nala out would benefit everyone in the end.

I prefer to ignore rudeness. And that might not be best. Its something I should figure out on my own. That, and I"m not sure you'd even be able to find me.

Zena let a laugh slip out. Oh please, we know where you and your twin are, it wasn't hard to deduce really. And I said I'd help, your powers and the way they work are bound to be drastically different than my own, meaning I can give you information, but not tell you how to do things.

Let me phrase it this way: You should not find me. Even if you know where we are, its best if Leon can't find us, hmm? And if all of you are gathering around two apparently normal children, he may begin to wonder whats so speciel about them, or at the very least, try to kill us as a blow to morale.

Now that's better. Maybe it has to do with you being related to one of us. There's plenty of reason, but I have a feeling he doesn't care about morale, he just wants us gone.

One of the greatest mistakes you will can ever make is to assume your enemy is stupid. He will not hesitate in the slightest about using fear to get closer to his goal. That, and if people have lower morale, they are much easier to kill, now aren't they?

Or they have a higher desire to live to get revenge. At any rate, nobody can track my psyonics. Even if we don't meet in person, we will meet in our minds, trust me on this.

There came an audible sigh. Another very stupid thing you could do, is expect someone can't do something. Realize, and I mean no offense here, Leon is not only much more powerful than you, hes had untold millenia to hone his abilities. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if hes listening to us right now. No, you'd best completely ignore me, and if you do meet me, simply pretend as though I'm a normal girl.
