Deserae nodded. "Of course. Now, get moving before I offer the job to someone else. If you need any weapons sharpened, or armor mended, head over to the vampire barracks."

The wolf growled. "You'll die for that one, scum." And with that, he pulled an axe from his belt.

Medunia nodded. She needed her sword sharpened. She asked Mecca if he could quickly recruit werewolves why she had her sword sharpened.

"That is not wise. We do not need a war." said Slater, showing his teeth and putting his hand on his hilt. His clan outnumbered the werewolves and they quickly prepared for battle just in case.

Alehkra grunted. "Ain't just humans. Had to put down more than one pup trying to take my place in my day. Though, to be fair, it is their right."

Mecca immeadietly started joggint towards the wolf barracks.

The wolf snorted. "You don't want a war, don't kill our wolves. Right guys?" The last was yelled to the wolves gathered round, but the agreement seemed half-hearted.

Patrick smiled grimly. "So Edward has told me. Ah, a heirarchy like that, reminds me of some of the military groups during the aftermath of the seven hour war."

Alehkra grinned. "Been like that since before I was born, and that is saying quite something. We believe that in order to stay on top, a leader must remain strong, as the weak don't deserve to rule."

"They attacked first because we didn't believe in their "Moon God." We had to "restrain" them." said Slater drawing his sword.

Alehkra grinned. "Been like that since before I was born, and that is saying quite something. We believe that in order to stay on top, a leader must remain strong, as the weak don't deserve to rule."

Patrick noded. "That was the mistake we made in the military a long time ago. All our leaders are chosen by merit. Same goes for politicians, although with the increase in werewolf customs, we might just have a benevolent dictator one day."

His eyes widened. "Whats this? You don't believe in Methua? So, what, do you pray along with the vampires." He scowled. "We don't like heretics in our city."

"Thats what the revolutionary war was all about. Sans the tearing bits, would've been a bit to much to cross the ocean." He chuckled. "And besides, as long as I'm alive, I pretty much carry everything in my pocket. Hell, I could declare the government defunct and rule it by myself."

Alehkra didn't seem to recognize that as a joke, and nodded. "I think that would be wise, personally. If you should ever need help, just ask."

Patrick noded his head. "I think it would to. Ah, as the founding father of the RUS, I could abolish the congress and take control, even though I'm not the president." He nodded again. "It does sound wise... one person, no room for debate. Things would either go for better or worse."

IC: Leon seemd about to strike, when he noticed Tal. "Brother!" He called out. "This demon has proved that his kind may not be trusted. He spouts lies, and wishes to strike me down!!"

"Tsk, an angel spewing lies. I'll drag you to hell myself if I have to. Miserable bastard." Umbra spoke coldly to Leon as he looked up.

OOC: Darn. We're just getting to the good stuff.

IC: Tal stopped on a dime, his sword drawn about 50 feet from the two. He was still glowing with radiance from using his full power to get there. He looked every bit the angelic warrior he was. "Leon! Umbra! What is the meaning of this! Why are you fighting?!?" Tal's voice boomed through the wasteland. He wasn't holding anything back at the moment. He still couldn't be sure of what was going on.

Umbra becokned Tal to get closer to him. "Tal, down here! I'd rather talk to you without having to shout!"

"When did I say I wouldn't help?" Zena asked. "I just don't know what to do."

Mirage shrugged, "It just sounded like you were giving up hope. I assume we should get the others before anything else."

Tal gave Leon a look that said, stay here, while Tal glided over to Umbra. He stopped about five feet from him. He hesitatingly removed his hand from his sword, but it was still hovering near it. "Umbra, there must be some mistake. Leon is on our side. Why are you attacking him?" Tal truly wanted to believe there was some mistake, no matter how impossible that seemed.

"No mistake, he's actually not on our side. Something I know you won't believe but I'm telling you anyway. Remember what you told me about him? He can get inside your head and such. You're an angel, you consider him an ally so of course you'd trust him. I'm a demon, I'm always sceptical, especially when it comes to angels doing thing sngels don't normally do." Umbra was very relaxed and he held his scythe so it rested on his shoulder.

Tal remained floating there. His appearance didn't change, but his mind was in turmoil, trying to figure this out. Leon.... no, he couldn't have. He's an angel. He can't lie! But what about Umbra.... so, he was lying when he said he was on my side? But why?.... Why else would Umbra want to kill the Angel of Death? And I did say he could get into your head..... but no, he's an angel... he couldn't be that deceptive, could he? Tal glanced back to Leon, then turned back to Umbra. "How could he not be on our side? He is an angel, we fight for the same God. Unless you mean he's not on your side..." Tal's sword hand was still near his sword, but he didn't move it any closer.

Umbra shook his head, "I was trying see if the others were on my side aout this. The arguement with Aozora and Alehkra was actually a fake, they saw my point and figured out what happened quickly. I'm on your side Tal, not his."

Tal's face remained expressionless. "If you were on my side, why did you lie to me? Why would you deceive me like that? Why didn't you tell me? I thought you were the only person who actually backed me on this. Now you're saying I was wrong to even think that?"

"I didn't actually know how to break it to you. I knew I couldn't say it then and there when he was standing- er, floating in front of us... That aside, I do have a question for you. If you don't believe me, why not just ask God himself? He gave you the letter for me, he'd know what I was doing... unless of course he's going to be cryptic as usual..."

Tal's stared back at Umbra. "I've said it before. Angels are an extension of God's will. We are his hands, his weapons. Angel's almost never speak directly to God. He speaks to us, or through the Arch-Angels. That aside, there is no need, since God told Leon what to do. He is an angel, he can't lie. Umbra... tell me, why do you want the Angel of Death dead? The real reason too. I won't accept any more lies. Not anymore." So this is what it comes down to. He befriended me a long time ago. Was all that just leading to this point, just a ploy?

"Your choice then, since you feel you're ready for such a truth. He wants to take the position of God for himself."

Tal tensed. Suddenly he relaxed, and began to laugh. It was a somewhat odd, higher pitched laugh, but Tal couldn't help it. He wasn't even sure why. When he was done, he faced Umbra, grinning. "That doesn't even make sense Umbra. You're loosing your touch. How could killing off Nala's followers, who by the way is the one planning to overthrow God, possibly help him in any way? But killing the Angel of Death.... that would be most helpful for somebody to overthrow God." He paused. "So, that's what it's been about, is it? You trick an angel into trusting you, get into God's graces, all so you can turn on them in the end? Being a demon lord wasn't good enough, so now you want to be God himself?" Tal had to struggle to hold back another laugh. "You forgot one thing. I am an angel of the Lord. Firstly and before everything else. You know what that means, don't you?" Tal's hand rested on his hilt. "What happens next depends on you." Suddenly Tal's former self seemed to show, his face sad. "I truly am sorry Umbra. I never wanted any of this." His grin reappeared. "But now it's up to you."

Umbra sighed, "Of course, as I expected." Umbra turned around and began to walk away, "You're human, Tal. More human than you'll ever know. Completely blinded my faith. Faith help up by hope in false facts. Leon lied to you, and you took it. You took it all like a fool. Something I know you will never realize until all the events have come to pass. Then you'll be a shell, pathetic." Umbra held back nothing now, "Of course you won't believe me. What reason do you have to believe me? Humans were racist, some still are, for what that's worth. You're the same, you feel that just because I'm a demon, I'm lying. Because of course, I'd go through all this trouble to become god. I worked under a human for some time, geez... give me some credit. Yes I've lied and yes I decieved you but it was i your interest. Oh hell, why do I bother? You're not going to believe me anyway. Fine then, I thought I could end this fast, God would confirm my actions as being rightuous and we could move on, but no. You had to make it more personal, I'm not going to fight you Tal. Leon, yes. But not you, and if you're going to get in the way I may as well just leave." Umbra took out the ribbon Tal had given to him *cue dramatic/sad music* and held it out. "Here, I suppose you'll be wanting this back."

OOC: Curse that music.... and he walked away in the air? Whatever.

IC: "Umbra..." Tal looked down. Had I really been about to pull my sword on him? He looked up, his expression sober. "You're right." He paused. "I can't believe you. But... maybe I was wrong. Umbra, maybe you do have good intentions at heart. But you're wrong. This is what must be done. What I will do... is anything but human. I must follow my God, blindly if I must, no matter what happens. And it's not because you're a demon, Umbra. It's because you were my friend, and you lied to me. As my last act as your friend..." Tal took the ribbon and crumpled it in his fist. "I don't want you around, or anywhere near me. Just stay away. Because the next time you get in my way.... I won't have a choice." Tal paused. "I really am sorry that you can't see. But after all this is over... I'll be the one proving you wrong." Tal let go of the crumpled ribbon as it slowly drifted to earth. "Goodbye." *cue more dramatic music* Tal turned around and glided back to Leon. If what I'm doing is right.... why does it feel so wrong?

Umbra only shrugged before lowering his hand and returning the landscape to normal. "When Leon finally shows you his grand scheme..." He stopped, no point. Mirage appeared at his side, "Umbra, are you-" Umbra interupted him, "Of course I am. I've been through this process before Mirage, all my friends are dead. I only have memories. Now then, let us take our leave, this air has begun to grow stale." Mirage nodded and the two were gone.

IC: Tal forced himself not to look back as he approached Leon. He still couldn't believe that Umbra had used him like that. He looked up at Leon. No... no, he couldn't be like Umbra had said. He must be mislead. "Don't worry about him, he won't be a problem anymore."

"Well that's just great." Zena's voice dripped with sarcasm. "I'm assuming you want to head to the maze then?"

As Zena said this, her shadow seemed to twitch. Suddenly, a shadow split off from it and went onto the wall. It formed into a figure of a person, still only a shadow. Suddenly, a voice was heard in Zena's head, that only she could hear. Are you Zena, High Priestess of the Catholic Church? It was a whispery, thin sound, it sounded more like the wind's moaning then anything else, but the words were unmistakably. The shadow seemed to flicker on the wall, as if the light in the room was making it unstable.

Leon patted Tal's shoulder sympathetically. "I am truly sorry Tal. It is a terrible thing to lose a friend." He gave a sad smile. "Just remember, my brother, you will always have me. So, did your friends believe you about the false goddess?"

IC: There was a vampire man standing at a forge. He had dark skin, extremely rare among vampires, and was also much more muscular.

Make me an Angel of Death. We're friends. This is our burden to share. Let me help." Tal remained silent. He tried to use his feelings, to determine if what he was doing was right, but they told him nothing.

"Now that's a very good reason to be on edge." Zena said. "Any ideas on what to do?"

Aozora laughed nervously. "Trust me love, some wierd shit was going down with your shadow. Remember, shadow and dark is my specielty."

Leon gave a surprised start. Well now, this is unexpected. And could be either good for my cause, or detrimental. Hmm...I think I'll leave a couple things out... Aloud he said, "If it is what you truly wish Tal. Just realize, that it cannot all be done at once. It must be done by levels, so that I can make sure you are the right kind of person to wield the power of death." He smiled. "But I truly believe you are the right sort of person." Which is the problem here... He walked over, and touched Tal on the head. He held it for several minutes, and then let go. Tal would feel life in everything around him, from plants to the smallest of insects. "This is the first step, to make you aware of the life around you, so that you know how terrible a deed it is for you to take it away."

Patrick shrugged. "Unless I could get a lot of back up, I wouldn't stand a chance. Besides, wouldn't be able to-" He held up his finger and dug around in his pockets, producing his cell phone. "Vibrate setting, perfect for stealth, not so good for answering calls." He dialed a few numbers, grinned, then furrowed his brow in concentration. "That was Liz.... its twins." He sighed and put his phone back into a pocket. "Twins. I wonder how that will effect the human child."

"Not let it do anything evil.... if it becomes physical it will become my concern. I don't have the patience for this bullshit."

"I know it is. And Light and truth are mine. And scaring the crud out of people by putting thoughts in their head." She was trying to lighten the mood, but she had a feeling it would have the opposite effect.

IC: The vampire looked up from his work, and eyed the blade critically. "It does seem a bit dull. Not bad quality though. Here, let me see it, and I'll see what I can do."

OOC: The following presentation will be something witnessed by Zena only. The events are fictional and in her head, so don't freak out when I majorly god-mod. None of the characters were hurt in the making of this nightmare. Thank you and enjoy the film! Also note, that anything that Zena does in the vision, she does in RL. IC: Mirage frowned. "I still don't understand why-" Suddenly a black sword erupted from his gut. Before he could say anything, the sword slashed out of his side. He fell to the ground, nearly torn in two and in a pool of blood, dead. Aozora immediately leaped at the figure in black, only to be immediately beheaded by the black blade. The figure had black wings, a black robe, and a black sword. It was the Angel of Death. It and it's sword were covered in gore. It turned slowly to Zena. "You're next." But it wasn't Leon that faced her, or Leon's voice that promised death. It was Tal.

"Whatever this thing is, it isn't an illusion. I've not felt such a presence before... I really don't know what it could be at this point. Sorry."

She flew after him in a blind rage and tackled him in midair, aiming for the ground. "What the heck did you do that for?!" tears were streaming from her eyes as various people poked their heads out the windows. They saw nothing, but stared in shock at Zena attacking nobody.

Mirage was at the window quickly, assessing the situation. "Shit... ZENA! CALM DOWN!" He knew that would little effect if she was under what he thought she was under.

Medunia handed him the blade and let him examine it.

The vampire took the blade, and reviewed it expertly for the next few minutes. Finally, he grunted, seemingly satisfied. "Not bad. You could do better, but I've seen worse. Least you're not like the wolves. I swear, they would go into battle with nothing but a loin cloth and an axe made of bone. Alright, gimme a minute, I'll sharpen it right up for ya."

The wolf scowled, and charged at him, mace upraised. He was followed by perhaps half of his fellows, but the rest hung back, obviously nervous.


Alehkra looked astounded. "A rarity? Among us, twins is considered a low birth count. The only ones I've ever even heard having one child at a time is me and Edward. Me I think because the wife is a vampire, and Cecy has part of that blood as well."

Zena didn't even hear Mirage as she lifted a hand to send Tal flying out the window, away from the artifacts and scripts. She flew after him in a blind rage and tackled him in midair, aiming for the ground. "What the heck did you do that for?!" tears were streaming from her eyes as various people poked their heads out the window. They saw nothing, but stared in shock at Zena attacking nobody.

(imaginary) Tal grinned wickedly. "I chose to become an Angel of Death. Mirage didn't believe in God, so he had to die. As for Aozora... he was in the way, and I don't like him." Tal kicked Zena off of him as he glided up to a standing position. "And now its your turn. You should have helped me, helped God. Instead you turned your back on him. You're no better then that half-demon scum of a husband you have. But don't worry. You'll join him soon in hell." Tal rushed forward, much faster then the real Tal could, with his black sword filling the air with a low, hollow ringing as it came for Zena's head.

Zena didn't even hear Mirage as she lifted a hand to send Tal flying out the window, away from the artifacts and scripts. She flew after him in a blind rage and tackled him in midair, aiming for the ground. "What the heck did you do that for?!" tears were streaming from her eyes as various people poked their heads out the windows. They saw nothing, but stared in shock at Zena attacking nobody.

Tal looked up at Leon in wonderment. "Thank you very much brother. This means a lot to me." Tal looked around at his surroundings with new eyes. He had never realized life was so abundant, so vibrant, so.... everywhere. He immediately refocused on Leon. "I thank you again. I will do whatever it takes to help you. Please, teach me." He bowed his head again, unsure what to do next.

Aozora leapt to the window. "Tal, what is she talking about? And why the fuck did she jump out a window? Shit, knew I shoulda done something about that shadow."

Leon nodded, and looked at him with sadness in his eyes. "Now comes the first, and arguably hardest test. Now that you sense the life around you, you must be able to extinguish it. I think it is time you helped me bring down the false goddess."

A flurry of feathers erupted all over the street as Zena created copies of herself to avoid the attack. "I've done nothing but aid in God's purpose." Zena retorted as the nearest created bows and arrows to attack Tal. The fired simultaneously after forming a wall on one side of him.

Aozora leapt to the window. "Tal, what is she talking about? And why the fuck did she jump out a window? Shit, knew I shoulda done something about that shadow."

Leon nodded, and looked at him with sadness in his eyes. "Now comes the first, and arguably hardest test. Now that you sense the life around you, you must be able to extinguish it. I think it is time you helped me bring down the false goddess."

Tal stiffened slightly, but didn't seem to shocked. "I knew this would come." He straightened himself. "I am as ready as I can be." His voice was resolute. He only wished his mind was.

"Dammit, it's an illusion. An illusion with a specific target unfortunantly. The hardest kind. Dammit all. I'll have to make some kind of preparations... Give me maybe three minutes." Mirage stood in the center of the room and began to meditate.

The vampire took the blade, and reviewed it expertly for the next few minutes. Finally, he grunted, seemingly satisfied. "Not bad. You could do better, but I've seen worse. Least you're not like the wolves. I swear, they would go into battle with nothing but a loin cloth and an axe made of bone. Alright, gimme a minute, I'll sharpen it right up for ya."

The wolf scowled, and charged at him, mace upraised. He was followed by perhaps half of his fellows, but the rest hung back, obviously nervous.


Medunia nodded and waited. She hadn't sharpen her sword in a long time.

"Fool." muttered Slater and he simply moved over to the side, every time the wolf swung his axe at him, Slater simply moved.
"You will die if you continue this. Join me in my conquest."

Leon nodded. "Remember, this will be hard. Do not be ashamed if you lose your head. I myself wept the first time. Now, let us return to where I was previously doing God's will." Suddenly, they were in the middle of what looked like a slaughter house for humans. The dead were everywhere, and here and there, a human was weeping amongst the dead. One woman looked up, saw LEon, and screamed. "Nala! Save me from these murderers!" She cried to the sky. Leon turned sadly to Tal. I know that you sense the life within this woman, and now you must snuff it out."

Alehkra looked astounded. "A rarity? Among us, twins is considered a low birth count. The only ones I've ever even heard having one child at a time is me and Edward. Me I think because the wife is a vampire, and Cecy has part of that blood as well."

"Well, you learn something new everyday." He chuckled. "Then ag-" He froze, then whirled to face a man standing close enough to be in earshot, yet be unheard. The man saluted. "Connor Douglas, Third Shotgunners. Been a hell of a time finding you sir, your protection has been upgraded to priority one." Shock spread across Patrick's face. 'Al, don't look into his eyes, whatever you do. He's one of the broken I was refering to earlier." A grin spread across Connors face. "Ah, but broken is realative, I prefer to think of it as...." He broke into a giggling fit. "Never mind."

I helped to get your emotions back and to save you from yourself, and now you're attacking me rather than simply talking. You've changed." The Zenas focused their energies and created a psychic blast to group the Tals together.

Tal's hand stiffened on his hilt. He knew this was coming... but he had never guessed so soon. He walked slowly over to the woman. To take human life... is this what I must do? Tal looked back at Leon, then back to the woman. She's defenseless... Tal pulled his sword free. I must be strong. I can't waver. I can't cry. I must be strong. But does this have anything to do with strength? Tal lifted his sword high. He thought about the Nala, and how she was trying to overthrow God. He though of all the earth's people, of the angels, of everybody who would suffer if Nala won. Must I trade the lives of the few... for many? Tal's eyes began to close. The temptation to close them was strong, but they popped back open. No. If I do this, I must watch. He steadied his arm. I must do this. I must do this NOW!

Tal looked down. He hadn't even felt the blade enter the body. Perhaps I missed? Maybe she's not- His thoughts were broken by the pooling blood from the woman's severed head. I... I did it. Tal felt a mix of pride and disgust at the same time. It was an ugly feeling. He crumpled before the body, resting on his bloodied sword. I actually did it. I'm capable of taking human life. Tal began to shake uncontrollable, sobbing. He couldn't see, couldn't think, didn't want to. He didn't want to do anything.

"Its not that. That isn't why you don't look into his eyes" Connor nodded, an insane grin on his face. "They're, ah, broken. Mind and spirit. The demons did something to them, drove them insane. The only way to release that is through there mind." Connor nodded again, head bobbing up and down franticaly. "Looking into there eyes is one way to relieve their pain. At you expense. More then one person has had it happen to them, and even those with the smallest telepathic ability will probably go utterly insane just from being near them."

The vampire nodded, and was then silent. He soon finished the blade, looked it over once more, and handed it back. "There we are, good as new."

The wolf fell back with his head split open, and the rest of the wolves stared at the body, unmoving. Finally one looked around at the others, and threw down his sword. "I don't know about you, but I have no intention of dying here." He was echoed by the rest of them, and the group all threw down their weapons.

Yet you must remember how many will be saved from this ones sacrifice. With this death, the false goddess is weakened that much more, and our Lord that much closer to retaining his throne. Weep, my brother, and then steel your heart for the blood to come." Well, that went a lot better than expected.

IC: The Tals resumed their laughing as they flew together, becoming one again. They shook their wings, brushing off Zena's energy as if it were dust. "You're right. I have changed Zena. I'm no longer your friend. You could have stopped me. Deep down, you knew this was wrong. But you didn't stop me. You didn't even try. Guess what? I've already killed the others. Did it moments after you left. Everybody you knew is gone. You're the last. Tell me, how does it feel? This could have been avoided, but no, Zena had to play it safe. After all, the good guys always win, don't they? Yes, all of them... Josh, Kathy, Aozora, Umbra, Nala... them and all the rest, dead." Tal laughed again. "You've failed as a half angel, as a 'High Priestess', as a friend..." He paused. "And a wife. You haven't had a child all these years, have you? Looks like that won't happen anytime soon either." Tal's laughter filled the air as the sky darkened, everything darkened. "And now, it ends." Tal was suddenly behind Zena, his sword at her neck. "Anything I missed?"

"There are a lot more, aren't there?" He didn't bother to wipe his eyes. He was done crying. Maybe he would cry again one day, but not until this was over.

"Don't want to accidentaly melt priority one's brains, eh? By the way boss, you got some big trouble. On the way here I ran into some angels. Really pissed angels. Said they were looking for you and demanded I take you to them." He giggled. "First mistake they made was breaking my hand. Second was not knowing that I could rip their jaws off with my bare hands." Patrick flinched. "Shotgunners feed off pain and rage, even there own." He whispered. "Makes them damn near unstoppable. The shotgunner names is actually cover, they're elite assassins, purpously meant to hunt down supes."

OOC: Heart and lung functions are controlled by the brain stem. Basically the brain can deactivate so long as those nerves are still awake. That's why brain dead people still have a heartbeat even if they have trouble breathing.

Tal seemed to sadden. He hadn't even noticed the hit to the groin. "You aren't even scared... I guess I shouldn't have started on somebody psychic, huh? This is no fun" He grinned mischievously, and suddenly he was gone. Zena was released from the nightmare. Her shadow split from hers again. Well done. The voice was in her head, but it seemed to come from the shadow on the ground. It seemed to be the shape of a man, right in the middle of the ground. You are the first to escape my nightmare. Then again, I usually target normal humans. They're so weak minded. Truthfully, I couldn't even fully get into your mind, so I'm not even sure if those were your deepest fears. Plus, I guess you could sense the others. It chuckled. But you still won fair and square. For that, I'll reward you with some info. So, ask away. You get one question. Go. And before you ask, I'll tell you this so you don't waste your question. My name is Scream.

Alehkra calmed down slightly once he heard about illusion, but he was still in what could best be described as a towering fury. For the first time he sounded as if he were angry with Zena as he thought to her, Zena, if noone is actualy dying, do not contact me about it. I swear to the Moon God, should you ever give me another false alarm like that, I will sit you over my knees and spank you lie a little girl!

Tal nodded back. He began gliding over the running people, hacking them down. It still hurt, but after the second, and the third... it seemed to hurt less every time. He would jump from one person to the next, striking them down without mercy. This is what I am now. For the glory of God.

You've been duped! The voice giggled at this, amused to no end. Although I must congratulate you yet again! You've done marvelous! Well, If that's if, I must be on my way! The shadow remained on the ground however.

The wolf suddenly got very nervous. "Well, we didn't make it a secret, like. I mean, I'm sure they know we're here, but it isn't very likely they'll do something about it. That old fool has gotten cautious in his old age."

Leon was fighting a smile as he cut down the humans. Ah, how I have missed this! The pure euphoria of their death, the sweet music of their screams! Oh, how I love the smell of fresh blood in the air. But, alas, must get ahold of myself. Musn't have Tal realize I enjoy this.

Tal understood how Leon could feel so horrible after killing so many people. Tal himself felt like puking, but he continued all the same. He needed to be an angel of God. He needed to be an Angel of Death.

I thought my husband had just been killed in front of me, do not tell me about bad moods! Zena was disgusted with Alehkra's attitude. "Some friend I am? Once I figured out it was an illusion I checked on everyone. They're all safe. Tal's kinda sick, but they're safe. But if what you say is true, I've got news to spread." Zena closed her eyes and played back the memory of asking the question of the shadowy figure and it's answer for everyone to see. She was really keen to see Tal's response and she began to monitor the top bit of their thought levels for responses. Any thoughts? she asked of them all.

Alehkra managed to fight down his rage. I am sorry Priestess, but it is hard for me to hear of a boy I raised myself dying, and it is very easy to get a wolf angry, especielly the old ones....the threat about spanking still stands though. And I say I am not very surprised.

Tal began to feel Zena creep into his mind, as a memory started to play. Zena, I said to stay away. I meant it. I can't bother with you right now. And without waiting for the memory, he hid his mind from Zena. She was the last thing he needed on his mind.

That wasn't the point. Now the other clans knew that the wolves were here. Slater needed a base of operations that wasn't likely to attract attention. Vancouver would have to do.
"I have to clean up your mess now. First off, who is interested in joining my clan?"

Patrick resumed pacing. "So, what do we do now? Sit here and wait?" He grunted. "We have him." He jerked his thumb at Connor. "And you, pretty good offense, yeah? And if the angel of death is telepathic, well... we'll see how long his sanity lasts. Unless he's already lost it."

I think you should believe him, although I'll admit that you have the right to be skeptical, as it was a strange shadow doing the telling. Although, if it helps any, it cannot be Nala, as she is now mortal.

"No one is leaving the city without my permission." said Slater loudly, as the bodyguards blocked the way for the wolves who refused Slater's offer. As he was speaking, more of the clan appeared now, plus their wives, children, even a few human slaves.

I trust your judgement. Zena replied simply. Kathy, talk to the guards, I want a sweep of the city. Talk to folks here and ask them if they know anything, the whole shebang.
On it. Kathy pushed a bookshelf and revealed a set of stairs that she used to climb down to her desk and contact security.

Aozora sighed. "Okay, just wanted to make sure she was safe, sorry for snapping."

The werewolf grinned. "Of course Alpha, we do what you command. Rogue wolves, eh? This should be fun."

"Nothing." Kathy said plainly as she pulled a book from the shelf. "I was wondering where this one went." She pulled another one and lobbed it toward Aozora. "Read that, you'll like it." She climbed off the ladder, took a seat, and began to read.

His grin widened, and it took on a mischevious look, and he said, "Or maybe, you don't like guys in that fashion at all."

OOC: I thought it left? I dunno, I'd have to read back a couple pages, which I'm too lazy to do.

Kathy picked up the book and Aozora at the same time, leaving him on his feet. "No thanks." She said, walking to the shelf to return the book to it's home. "Now read your book." She sat down and started on hers.

Aozora sighed and sat back down in the chair, again balancing it on two legs, and looked to see what the book was without much enthusiasim. As he read, he began to mutter, "Make a friendly offer, and you get picked up like a kitten. Have a little fun, and you get hit with a fucking wrench."

The wolf nodded, and he made several gestures to three other wolves. They moved out, moving through the snow with an easy expertise that said they'd done this many times before. The wolf who had spoken began to climb the wall towards the one with the bow, whilst the other three moving into position.

The guards drew their swords suddenly when they heard something move nearby. The one with the bow alarmed, strung his bow on his shoulder and joined his comrades below.

Medunia then very quietly asked another wolf if they should simply climb over the walls and go into the city.

Leon put his arms around Tal's shoulder. "You will get used to it in time, brother. It will still horrify you, but you will realize that it is a neccesary evil."

Tal looked up. "I suppose it helps that I'm not alone... I can't imagine what this must have been like for you. So, what now?"


The shadow on the ground twitched, then formed itself into the figure of a man again. Zena... I was still here, and I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. Just so you know.... I'm not a good guy or a bad guy. I'm just a.... spirit, lets say... who is bored. How about this? Will you let me stay in your shadow and follow you around? I promise, I'll do nothing except watch, and maybe comment on rare occasion. In return.... well, maybe another question? To be honest, I'm surprised you didn't ask it earlier. So, how about it? Any one question, and you let me tag along. Besides, time spent with you is time I don't spend killing people. The voice gave another raspy laugh in her head. Oh, and once again, I'll tell you a little about myself first. Its rude that I know pretty much everything about you, while you know nothing of me. Like I said, I'm Scream. If you didn't already guess it, I use fear as a weapon to drive people past the brink of insanity, basically until they're dead. It's all I have to entertain myself. I live in shadow, but as you can see, I can leave them every one in a while. Now, since that's over with, on with the question!

The shadow thought. "On second thought, ask later, I'm tired. I'll just assume you say yes. Let me know if you change your mind." It flew into Zena's shadow, making no difference, except that it was almost unnoticeably darker.

Tal fell to his knees. "Please, continue with your work. Give me some time. I need to realize what I've done." Tal looked only down at the blood that covered the ground.

Zena returned to her study. "Wow, Aozora reading. Kathy, do you know where the calendar in here went? I want to mark this day down."

OOC: Just to keep things simple, just RP Mirage as having left. I can stay up tommorrow with you guys.

Connor bent down and plucked a flower from the ground. "Y'know boss, sometimes I wonder why you people do what you do." Patrick raised an eyebrow. "Us people?" Connor shrugged. "You know, uh.... people that're... hmm.... haven't been changed by the demon wars." He stared into the petals of the flower, a paradox of natural porportions, a blue rose. "Makes me wonder how the world was changed by the war boss. Look around you, blue roses, trees made of pure mana. Eventualy humanity will have to adapt to these new changes."
Patrick sighed. "Yeah... this world isn't what I remember, its like a blurry picture, I can make out a few sharp images, but the rest is just one big blur." His face scrunched in concentration. "This is one of your frightening insights into reality, isn't it Connor?" Connor grinned, exposing un-naturaly white teeth. "Naw boss, just the insight of a person with a love for horticulture."

"I'm sure she had a good enough reason. But I've got bigger news. I've just spoken to someone who knows what's going on with Nala and the Angel of Death. Nala was telling the truth. How convenient is that?" Zena said, taking up her favorite chair.

Aozora grinned. "See love? The innocence of childhood. Never fails."

Zena rolled her eyes. "It wasn't Nala's doing. It was that shadow. It's a lot smarter than we gave it credit for. Sentient even. Nearing omniscient from what I could gather."

Aozora shrugged. "I've learned to mistrust shadows that do shit like that without me helping. Regardless of intelligence, it is not to be trusted."

"I've got a feeling about this one. It's telling the truth. It's smarter than we gave it credit for and I'm sure it's right. We need to stop the angel and now. I thought you'd be all over that." Zena's speech grew faster.

Aozora grinned. "Not saying I don't believe what the thing is saying love, just that I don't trust it. Oh, it may tell us the truth, but it will do so for its own reasons. And remember, there are those who won't lie, but can make the truth dance a fine jig."

"Are you going to keep trying to make me feel like an idiot or should I let Kathy loose now?" Zena grinned right back.

Aozora laughed. "Ah, a very dangerous threat. Perhaps to both of us, should you ever wish to be a mother. Sides, I doubt the most intelligent of men, of which I am most definetly not grouped with, would be able to make an idiot out of you, mine dearest and most beauteuos turtle dove."

"I'll accept that as an apology." Zena joked. "Now, how do we go about getting to the rest? We need to find that Angel, and Tal will probably lead us to him if we ask."

Aozora thought for a second about that. "Mayhap thats not the best of ideas, love. Tal seems completely taken in by this so-called Angel, and I think he'd be more likely to alert him than help us. Or, perhaps what that shadow showed you has actually happened, or perhaps happening."

"It's a possibility. But we still need to find a way of getting in contact with that angel. Or we could cut to the chase. Contact the Archangels, tell them what's been going on. They could call an inquisition on him and figure things out. He is smart enough to realize that if he goes on a constant killing spree, he will quickly run out of those to kill, and therefore amusement. And so, I think more he will keep humanity around as one keeps cattle. However, you are right in that the false-angel must be stopped, regardless of whether he will kill all of them."
