Never hurts to play around with settings. *nods*

Though.. are you using film? I think I'd fail if I used film.

Heh, yep. I use one of these: http://www.mediajoy.com/en/cla_came/rollei_b35/index.html
Apparently, the lens on the B35 is the worst of the Rollei range, but I reckon its better than anything you'd get on a fairly basic 35mm compact these days. As for film, I've never used anything else. As I tend to go for landscape pictures (can you tell?) if a photo looks ok it will probably turn out ok. If I was doing close up stuff like you ruffy, I'd bankrupt myself on processing costs. I imagine you take several pictures of stuff like that watch, then pick the best? I get about 8-10 decent pictures off a film, and they are all individual attempts, not the best of 3, if you know what I mean.

yay new camera!! its tiny :p

image quality is pretty crappy compared to my 20D, especially grain and colour rendition, as well as detail (as to be expected 5mp 2/3" CMOS vs 9mp larger dSLR sensor), but its small and sweet and easy to use... not to mention it was cheap :)

camera itself is less responsive in terms of autofocus and other features that i'm used to accessing directly (not through menus) but on the whole i'll get used to it.

some sample images:
the lovely view from my office (http://www.hlj.me.uk/pics/new%20camera/DSCF0010.JPG)
exciting shot inside the office (http://www.hlj.me.uk/pics/new%20camera/DSCF0006a.JPG)
a mug of tea (badly focused) (http://www.hlj.me.uk/pics/new%20camera/DSCF0009.JPG)

still no CD from you, rufferto

I swear that bag on the table says "Chocolate & Chili..

And you know what? I hate the UK. Everytime I send something there it ends up ripped and put in a plastic bag.

Should have gotten there last week..

I take quite a few of the same picture over and over again, but I possibly might be able to get good shots of statues and my beloved clouds with a filw camera.

I have a Minolta STR or something.. It needs to get cleaned, and new lenses must be purchased.. I have no money for that.

I've really enjoyed these.

We tend to be a large format family. Most of my pictures lately would bore you (Quilts and Cross-stitch) but some of you might enjoy my husband's work

I used to have a wolf-husky mix, he was awesome, very loyal, although he shed a ton in the summer. This dog is a red wolf mix, so he has shorter hair, and keeps more of it......and I know (before anyone says anything) that red wolfs are highly endangered, but I didn't breed him this way, he was already born and all when I found him, and he was sick, and I took him to the vet, and now he is mine.

I used to have a calico (that's what we call tortoiseshells here) his name was Snickers, because I thought he looked like a melted candy bar. He was way sneaky smart, once he fished my keys out of my purse and tried to hide them in the couch because he didn't want to go to the vet. (or at least that's why I decided he did it, since we were going to the vet and I saw him do it... could have been me anthropomorphizing my animals too much)

Actually, there's a diffrence between calicos and tortoiseshells. The calicos have white coloring, and can be male, wheras tortoiseshells can only be females, and only have black and orance patches (the orange patches are striped like an orange tabby.:) In the picture, some of her white kitten fluff is still there, but she doesn't have any white patches any more. (although she does have three white whiskers, all on the same side)

totally didn't know that. My cat had orange, and brown random patches and was male and didn't have a tail.....I am not sure why it didn't have a tail, it was a stray and came without one, like he didn't even have a stub.....

This is really the only photograph I have on DeviantArt which has any 'success', including one favourite. It's the only military related one I have uploaded onto DeviantArt.

http://ic1.deviantart.com/fs15/f/2007/028/a/d/Soviet_SSK_at_San_Diego_by_JonCatalan.jpg

Most of my military related photography is located here (http://gallery.modernwarstudies.net/main.php), and is not that great. The images from Spain are not mine, as I left Spain before the parade, but were taken by my uncle in haste (he's actually a good photographer). That gallery is linked to my forum (http://modernwarstudies.net/index.php), which is military related.

I've been trying to take some normal photography, but I'm a beginner. I liked this photograph of a bank in Chula Vista, California, but apparently I'm the only one. :P

I've actually just moved to Oslo, but I've been Norwegian my whole life. It's quite the adventure :-) And that milk chocolate that you had a picture of is my favourite (no surprise I guess)...

And since this is a photo thread:

Oh boy, 2 weeks to catch up to. This will be several posts.

Instead of quoting all of Ruffy's posts I'll just post the pictures I like best from the new stuff in his album (http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/):

In case I haven't said it before, I'm still in love with this one (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/vvvvvvv450.jpg).
Saxophone (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/wwwwww231.jpg), saxophone (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/wwwwww178.jpg)!
Absolutely love the colors in these (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/wwwwww391.jpg) two (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/snowy311.jpg). Postcard material.
Still not entirely sure I grasp the mechanics involved here (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/wwwwww455.jpg), but cool nevertheless. And: beautiful. (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/wwwwww470.jpg) =)
Sad saint indeed. (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/wwwwww479.jpg)
When I saw the thumbnail of this (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/moooo055.jpg) I thought it was a bunch of pills laid out on the table. ;p
Can't decide which (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/snowy182.jpg) one (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/snowy176.jpg) I like better.
Spooky (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/snowy343.jpg)!
I looked through the album backwards so you totally had me fooled by what I thought was a physically impossibly shaped icicle (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/snowy074.jpg) - before I eventually saw that it was frozen water on a window. Duh.

Taken a few years ago in New Zealand:

http://ic1.deviantart.com/fs13/f/2007/020/9/a/Natures_Little_Poser_by_tgnrogue.jpgAw, I only saw the little guy after I went looking for him because of the caption! It's so big only maybe an eighth of it fits on the screen. Can you make it smaller so we can get a better look at it? Thanks! :)

It was really cold today! They are pics of the Hudson river.

To be honest, I'm more proud of the titles of this lot. A good lot of colour, but I think that's more the camera being able to pick it up. Maybe when I get my ass down to the photo shop to get the other films developed...
Aww, did it really follow you around for 3 kilometers? Maybe it wanted to be your next sweater?

I've really enjoyed these.

We tend to be a large format family. Most of my pictures lately would bore you (Quilts and Cross-stitch) but some of you might enjoy my husband's work

Raucous Images (http://www.raucousimages.com/gallery/)I like the yoga ones! :)

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a192/piggy_g87/Digital%20Camera%20stuff/DCFN0005.jpg
^ That's my favourite one.

Just thought I'd add a few pictures of mine from around Aberystwyth, where I used to go to uni...

It got a little cold last week... (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/Aber/DSCN0202.jpg)

Constitution Hill (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/Aber/DSCN0206.jpg)

Inside the castle (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/Aber/DSCN0211.jpg)

Looking back at the Old College and the church (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/Aber/DSCN0213.jpg)

I didn't fancy a swim! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/Aber/DSCN0207.jpg) Wow, that's a really unusual setting, what with the hills so close to the ocean and the castle and the really old little town. And the snow on top of it, of course. Where is Aberystwyth? England, Wales, Scotland? (yes, I know I could google it, but why not aks actual people instead?)

I recently moved to France (temporarily, unfortunately), and I have a couple pictures I rather like.

A fountain in town (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a353/tuebor/Angers/CIMG0690.jpg)

A statue (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a353/tuebor/Angers/CIMG0693.jpg)Hehe, I was about to ask you where those pictures were taken, i.e. where you are staying - but now that I quoted the post I see that it's Angers. *goes off to look up where exactly Angers is located >.<*

got some ones from valentine's day yesterday, myself, from the lovely town of Chichester:

okay, so I was told earlier in the thread, to find something at home and take a close-up picture of it and that would be okay for sharing.

so, here it is.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c389/Smunkee/215001.jpg

I think it's pretty. Yay! It is, too. Though Brazil should look out for Tsunamis, what with that big crater right off their coast. :p

here is a pic of my dog, with snow on his head.... I brushed him off immediately after........*hides from animal protectionists*

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c389/Smunkee/215002.jpgLol, and here I was just about to call PETA.
I think it's funny when animals are all snowy. Ruffy has pictures of his dog being all snowy in his album, too. I mean, I know it doesn't melt because the outside of the fur is actually not warm, but it always kind of looks like they're not really alive - or at least very, very lazy and unmoving - to get snow just pooling on top of them. Hee.

And here are my cats:
http://myspace-450.vo.llnwd.net/01130/05/42/1130182450_l.jpg
http://myspace-812.vo.llnwd.net/01130/21/84/1130214812_l.jpg
And here is a funny can I saw:
http://myspace-746.vo.llnwd.net/01520/64/73/1520543746_l.jpg
In short, this is kinda like image spam, because I cannot take good pictures.Awww. Tabby cats really are the cutest cats there are. *agrees with Smunkee*
And the can cracked me up. :p

Can't say much about the military ones because I'm not a fan of weapons, but that first one is a cool photo. =)

Thank you so much! :)

*humble....*Meeeeep. You missed my post. :( It even had a question:
Those are great. Are the colors natural or did you use a filter to get them that fiery?

And that's really strange about the clouds - I always found clouds just about the most rewarding motif of all, seeing how I only had to point the camera at them and get a beautiful picture.

And can you tell me how you make it so the photobucket pics show up as thumbnails and open into a full screen pic when clicked? Because I like that, more than my flickr account, really. For which I very recently paid like $25. Grmph. But then again, Photobucket always takes FOREVER when I try to upload pictures. But maybe that's because I'm not in the US. :/
It takes FOREVER for me too. :(
You can check off photos you want and then go to the bottom of the window and there is something like "generate html and img codes" and you click it and then copy and paste what it tells you to copy and paste. :)

Thanks, but the quality is rather poor...

Compare these:

Indeed. still pretty though.

And cool Beijing pics, I thought the bridge was really cool especially.

JLo's butt for real - except she moved a split second before I took the picture... And no, sadly neither she nor I are 10 feet tall, which is why I could not take an actual picture of her (i.e. not of the screen) on which you can, say, actually see her any better than this. Stupid photographers standing ten deep and on ladders. *rolleyes* I swear she's in there, you just gotta look hard enough.

On another, more philosophical note:

Is anybody else feeling like a cheater for using a digital camera?

I mean, I never had a digital camera until I went and bought the Nikon last November. Up to then, it was like Turquoise Days said. You tried to take the best shot you could and that was it. Unless you were a professional photographer, you would hardly take more than 3 shots of the exact same thing, because what would have been the point, considering you would have had to pay for film and developing and you would have had all these near identical prints lying around at home.

Somehow that felt a lot more honest than now, I don't know. It also took up WAYYYYYYYY less time than now, where you sit in front of the computer forever and try to figure out which version of a pic is slightly better than the other 10 same ones. And I don't even have a software that lets me put two pics next to each other in a still decent size for direct comparison, which totally sucks.

Gah.

Related to that:

I found out that my camera doesn't take pictures in black & white - I was so absolutely sure that they all did that I didn't even look it up before I bought it. I'm not the only one, either, judging from the confused questions I found about this on the internet. :p

So I found where somebody recommended this freeware (http://www.mediachance.com/digicam/bworks.htm) to turn your color pics into b&w. I downloaded it, and from the samples I saw and the little I tried it out it's pretty good. However - wait for it - isn't that like photoshopping your pics? I mean, is it okay to simply go and turn your pics into b&w when you actually took them in color?
Even more important, do you guys who know more about photography than I do think it gets the same quality as a digital camera that takes the pics in b&w in the first place? I mean, is this something that should make me exchange my camera for one that does b&w?

Editing vs. Film?

Editing totally wins. Sure it's a bitch and sure it requires effort, but you have options of how you want that photo to be.. expressed. :) Digital makes it less WYSIWYG, and more you. Or something. Please, leave me alone, I'm only a child!

on some levels, but not really

in order to get a 'pro' looking picture back then you actually had to be a pro photographer... or at least know exactly what you are doing. hell, back in the real old days just to get a picture out of a camera at all (pretty much) you had to be a pro. these days it is amazingly easy not just with the ability to choose and discard poor photos, but also in-camera autofocusing, white balancing, exposure metering, etc... i mean, film cameras do that too these days (whats left of them) but the added ease of using digital does sometimes make it feel like cheating.

that's why the pics i particularly love are ones that push the camera a little outside of its automated processes designed to simply record a snapshot of what you see. its the reason i went for a camera with full manual control rather than a 'better' (more high-tech/up-to-date) camera recently.

its probably also the reason why composition has become increasingly important now that pretty much anyone can take a photo. what seperates 'a photo' and 'a good photo' is no longer necessarily simply using the tool, the camera, but whether or not you have good composition (http://www.photozone.de/4Technique/compose/goldenmean.htm). don't get me wrong, that was always important, but its more so now that the camera has become such an intuitive and automated tool.

Related to that:

I found out that my camera doesn't take pictures in black & white - I was so absolutely sure that they all did that I didn't even look it up before I bought it. I'm not the only one, either, judging from the confused questions I found about this on the internet. :p

i think its fine. most photography competitions i've seen/entered have had in the rules you're allowed to make small contrast/brightness adjustments and are allowed to convert colours to monochrome.

it is a bit of a grey area as its not technically what's come out of the camera. however, as a photographer, you see something and want to capture it in a certain way. if, by slightly photoshopping it, you are turning the picture back into what you 'saw' originally then i say that's ok. its recapturing your original vision. ok, so in a perfect world you'd have been able to make the camera take your 'vision' in the first place, but we all know thats all too often not possible with moving subjects or constraints on our own time, etc...

Even more important, do you guys who know more about photography than I do think it gets the same quality as a digital camera that takes the pics in b&w in the first place? I mean, is this something that should make me exchange my camera for one that does b&w?
umm... its another grey area. i'm going to go with yes and no :p
no not really as far as i can really tell.
but my Canon 20D has a specific monochrome mode that's supposed to emulate the way b&w FILM works, and not just take a colour picture in monochrome. so... canon seem to think there's a difference. and i know you like my b&w pics, WYTYG, so.... i don't know :P

probably not is the short answer *nods*

Even with that particularly nasty side effect, I still miss the snow. I lived in Colorado Springs for about a month in 1997-1998 (it was around 28 days total, starting on the night before christmas).

It pretty much never snows here in the Houston area. On top of that, it's always so fucking humid. Seriously, I can make a paper airplane inside, and the second I walk out the door with it, it's too wet to fly properly.

1: Houston is the most humid city in the state. Corpus Christi, where I used to live, is the second most humid city in the entire country (in all of North America, to be exact). It's also the windiest.

So I took some new pics yesterday, but the batteries died, and I don't feel like charging them right now..

Went outside this morning and saw an awesome sky. The moon was still covering 75%, while the sun was rising. It was like a solid split between black and light blue. Since my camera was dead, I made a pic in Paint to show you the beauty!

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/other/created/meh-1.jpg

:p

That brown is the mountain in the background, that green thing is a beautiful car, and the lovely shades of colour are the sun's doing.

And to make this post worth anything..

A list of things I want to take pictures of:

The Brooklyn bridge.
Those windmills near my house.
More of The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter & Paul.
Shoes.
Random elements of the local mall.
Coins.
Flowers.

awesome :D

i guess it depends on what purpose they want it for... if its personal 'art' or whatever then its up to you, or them... or a compromise.
if its for commercial use then just look at some stock photography sites for a price guide - you could get away with at least 100 dollars, if not double that or more.

edit: if they want a larger print then of course you gotta take into account the cost of getting that done, and your time.
i'm getting a 60x100cm canvas print of one of my pics for me birthday coming up soon, and its gonna cost about 200 quid. repro doesn't come cheap :(

They're not the meaningful, I guess.. This is reminding me.. I need to get some of these printed off so she has more options..

*checks out some sites*
edit: if they want a larger print then of course you gotta take into account the cost of getting that done, and your time.
i'm getting a 60x100cm canvas print of one of my pics for me birthday coming up soon, and its gonna cost about 200 quid. repro doesn't come cheap :(

Yeah, she said the walls are huge, so I guess it'd be made large. And damn right it's expensive. I was going to get a canvas print for my mom for Christmas, I couldn't believe the prices..

When getting prints made, are canvas prints the no question best?

Exactly how many layers did you use to make that? *guesses 8* Tis awesome.
actually, 29 in total, but that includes work i did on the original picture (healing, level adj layers for teeth/eyes etc), so for the colour & arty effects it was just 6 including the papery texture overlay :)

just getting to know photoshop after using photopaint for years.... its a fucking powerful program :D

its not fair is it?
and as for canvas, i'm not sure. in one way the canvas itself can't be as smooth a surface as paper, therefore the dpi of anything printed on canvas will be lower than that of paper by default. i print on hessian bags (very coarse, thick material) sometimes for my work (well, i design things for them) and the dpi of that medium is terrible... about 40 dpi. so if canvas is anything like that, the quality will suffer.

then again, for a large print the quality isn't going to have to stand up to close inspection anyway - just look at how coarse billboard posters are, but they look fine from a distance.

i certainly think canvas prints are the most nice looking you can get... paper just isn't as classy, and others like printing on acrylic just don't strike me as very nice (though you can get some cool effects like all white areas in the picture to be transparent :D)

short answer: i don't know :P

I finally got my film developed from the sports car race. Two rolls didn't make it and both of those rolls where the pit walking rolls, so only photos of racing, and I didn't have a zoom lense nor could I get that close to the track, so...

instead of showing you the awesomeness I'm going to lash out at all you bastards who have such cool looking photos, you guys suck. (yeah, my photos turned out all kinds of horrible. There is one passable one that I'll put up when I get home...sigh...)

I'm dreaming dreams,
I'm scheming schemes, I'm building castles high.
They're born anew, their days are few,
Just like a sweet butterfly.
And as the daylight is dawning,
They come again in the morning!

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high,
Nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams
They fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.
When shadows creep,
When I'm asleep,
To lands of hope I stray!

Then at daybreak,
When I awake,
My bluebird flutters away..
"Happiness, you seem so near me,
Happiness, come forth and cheer me!"

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high,
Nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams
They fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

BUBBLES!

i'm getting pretty sick of not taking any good photos. or, in fact, any at all. i was in the office tonight till 10, ill most of last week, and in the office till, again, gone 10 the last time i was in the office before being ill... and yet i keep buying photography magazines and coming here and seeing great inspirational photos... and i can't take one lousy shot. i tried. tonight... i went out into the garden to take pics of the moving clouds at long exposures. guess what? by the time i got home the clouds had fucked off. my best effort, a 30 second exposure, was just shit. shit, shit, shit... shit.

i guess i'm just really cheesed off that i haven't taken even one decent photo in MONTHS. even on our recent trip to amsterdam i was unable to take anything really good. sure there were a few decent pics, but nothing great.

i used to pride myself and have just a little confidence in that i thought i was a decent photographer. i was pinning hopes on making a carreer in it for myself even. but lately i've just found myself totally divebombing in confidence, what with such a dry spell, and thinking a career in photography would just be a disaster (which puts me back on the starting blocks in more ways than one)

the last actually good thing i did was that video of my old photos, which was exactly that: old photos. i just don't have the time to go take photos, or stunning places to go (yes i probably limit myself by trying to do landscape photography but i like it more than other styles, so, meh), and just lack the drive. so many things i try to get into, and hope i'll be good at, and try to be good at, like drumming, guitar (5 years and i sucked), and now this... maybe i just can't stick at doing anything, who knows? all i know is i'm feeling sorry for myself and need a fluffle. :(

It's because you're overloaded with shit loads of work. I know I mostly get over worked sometimes and lose all inspiration and just say.. well you know.. fuck it all. Seriously, if you were doing only photography for yourself, you'd have shit loads of new great stuff. You lose yourself for a while when people start telling you what you need to do, and what they expect from you. You can't work like that. And that's why I fear I'll someday be a wedding photographer. *shudders*

You do know that this happens all the time to lots of people, right? I'd be sitting on the bus waiting to get home, looking at all the kick ass photo ops I'm missing. By the time I'd get home the sky would be clear, my chances of getting a good photos is gone. And that's always a bummer.

Guess it really depends on what your mood is. If you know you could have gotten a better shot, it kinda spoils your opinion on the best shot you did get.

Sometimes I hate this thread. It constantly gives me a bad conscience (that's not a real English expression, is it? I asked you guys before but nobody answered) but you made those things I would have given but a disdainful glance into something that is really, really cool.

Went outside this morning and saw an awesome sky. The moon was still covering 75%, while the sun was rising. It was like a solid split between black and light blue. Since my camera was dead, I made a pic in Paint to show you the beauty!

I used that new feature on Photobucket where you can load photos by just checking them off on your computer. It took 2 minutes to upload 60 unresized photos! Very great to use indeed.Hmm. I'll have to check that out. But what does how Photobucket locates the files on your computer have to do with how long it takes to upload them? And 2 minutes for 60 full size pics?? Really?

In art, a motif. :) A linky for clarity and stuff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motive But... but... it says "Motif (visual arts), a recurrent theme or pattern" - which is totally what I thought it meant, which is why I am so unsure about if it even fits what I'm trying to say. I mean, when you just talk about whatever can be seen on the picture you're talking about, what do you call that in English? In German, it's Motiv, which is of course why I'm so confused in the first place. Does English actually have a word for what's on pictures and paintings?

The second and third pic are my dad's paintings, You know, I think I would actually recognize your dad's paintings if I saw them somewhere. I mean, okay, here it wasn't exactly hard to guess, seeing how you posted them, but they have if surely not a recurrent motif (ha! :p) then at least a similarity in style or "feel".

the fourth pic is my dad's pallet/paint table (collecting paint (and dust) since the early 80s), Wow. Does it ever get scraped off and cleaned at all? Or just piled on?

and the last one is a rock and a dead flower. :)Dead flower you say? I still say it's a feathered shrimp. *nod*

But... but... it says "Motif (visual arts), a recurrent theme or pattern" - which is totally what I thought it meant, which is why I am so unsure about if it even fits what I'm trying to say. I mean, when you just talk about whatever can be seen on the picture you're talking about, what do you call that in English? In German, it's Motiv, which is of course why I'm so confused in the first place. Does English actually have a word for what's on pictures and paintings?
Err...I'll ask my parents tomorrow what the real art term is, if there is one. *shrugs*
You know, I think I would actually recognize your dad's paintings if I saw them somewhere. I mean, okay, here it wasn't exactly hard to guess, seeing how you posted them, but they have if surely not a recurrent motif (ha! :p) then at least a similarity in style or "feel".
He goes through phases slowly. The stuff that I got used to from my childhood is actually very different than what he does now. From 2000 (http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl=en&u=http://users.rcn.com/yukey/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhiro%2Bichikawa%2Bblog%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den-us)... He also does sketches and watercolors and prints and stuff (a sample (http://blog60.fc2.com/h/hiroichikawa/file/IMG_1243.jpg)), in addition to his main paintings.
Wow. Does it ever get scraped off and cleaned at all? Or just piled on?
Hahaha....no. edit: more the second one. He's silly like that.

Hmm. I'll have to check that out. But what does how Photobucket locates the files on your computer have to do with how long it takes to upload them? And 2 minutes for 60 full size pics?? Really?
It.. I can't explain it, so..

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/other/blahhh/fdhdghdghggh.jpg
Ruffy already said everything there is to say. Not having time to take pictures and not snapping an Ansel Adams every day does NOT mean you suddenly suck at photography. Which you totally know, you silly boy. :fluffle:
PM-Ruffy said everything very well, I think.
Ruffy-What you said was very cool. :)

Okay, that one? Totally could be from Moulin Rouge (http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B00005NV6Q.03._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg).

What's the crinkly stuff at the bottom? Did one just pop?

The (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/stuff4162.jpg) hell (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/stuff4167.jpg)? Do people abandon their cars in the woods in masses where you live? o.O

Yes. Well, atleast one person does.. He feels it's better to throw it in the woods than to trash it. Makes good photo ops, though. =P
And mad congrats on people buying photos from you! How cool is that?!
Now she wants 2, and possibly some of the bubble pics for her kid's bathrooms. I think she's seriously rich, her house seems to be fucking huge by the way she explained it.

So today I had to work with someone who was doing their senior project. He's in culinary, and he's applying for a scholarship, and they wanted a picture of his project, which I'm guessing is making ice cream..

Well it was basically green tea ice cream.

Well I got to choose how to set up the picture, and take it. My first photo shoot for any actual reason!

I feel it was a very awesome set up, but since I only found out about this one minute after I got into school, I had to use the camera they provided. The damn thing wouldn't focus on the ice cream (well, it was actually shortening that they dyed green..). Atleast, that's what it looked like..

I don't know. I hope it looks good..

Twas fun because I got to do something I like, and I got to set it up instead of having them tell me what to do. But it was annoying using a camera that wasn't as good as mine. And it's been a looooong time since I used a button to zoom, so I kept wanting to rotate the lense.. :p

Still wish I could have used my camera. If only this had been planned in advance..

My god! My hair is so awesome today! So soft! *plays with hair*

I can see the red, white and free in you
You light the night up like the moon
And underneath your clouds, I see the blue

You're hopeless 'cause you tell the truth
The stars are jealous of your shine
If you were mine
There's not a thing I wouldn't do

You're black and beautiful, yellow, tan
You're white as light and soft as sand
With greens and greys and oh for days
A silver lining on the way you cover everyone
Just like a morning sun
You turn me into someone I would rather be

OOO- I love your every color
OOO- I love your everything
You wear the day around you
Like it's yours to stay around you
Maybe I could stay around you too
If that's alright with you

You're coffee brown and bubble gum pink
And oh I think the shade of you is on the brink
Of changing all the ways I see the world
I could drown inside a single drop
Of all the kinds of things you got
And all the kinds of things I'm not

Might just give me a chance to see
From way up where you are
Above the silent stars
Just dancing in the sky

You're better than any rainbow
You're brighter than the sun
You look like my first day of summer
When my spring is on the run
You're gold and more gold
And you're platinum too
With snow toned, copper attitude
I don't know what I'd do without you
I don't know what I'll do about you

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/other/blahhh/fdhdghdghggh.jpg Hmm, maybe that's some sort of program that compresses the pics so they upload really fast. Because I just uploaded 1 single pic to Photobucket and that alone took about 2 minutes...

How the hell did that reference pop into your head?Moulin Rouge? Hell, because PM's pic looks like someone ripped it out of the CD booklet of the movie soundtrack. I couldn't find good pics of that online and am too lazy to go and find the CD and scan it in, but it really looks like that.

They're awesome bubbles, but they make a mess when they pop. Maybe I'll send you some.Oh, so what looks like goop on your fingers actually is goop on your fingers? And not the self-made kind either? What the hell kind of bubbles are those, supersticky glue foam bubbles?

Motif - some kind of symbolism, image, repeated pattern, arty thing...
Motive - motivation for doing something, why you did it, what your thoughts were behind it

2. god knows what kind of flowers they are... they're actually white but look kinda yellow in the light. ask my mum :P

3. have fun sobering up! :D

Alright, so off I go to look at your album. I can already say that the daffodil ones blew me away, esp. the darker ones where the colors looked slightly off (photoshop or lighting or filters?).For example, how did you go from this (http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/?action=view&current=stuff7070.jpg) to this (http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/?action=view&current=stuff7069.jpg)?

fsecondly i've decided to re-do my website. the old one i liked but.... well, i'm not sure. what do y'all think of this (http://www.hljphotography.co.uk/indexbw.htm)?I like it! It wouldn't load for me yesterday, hence the late comment. I like it quite a bit better than before. :)
Oh, one thing: I can see the "latest galleries" down the front page, but if I click on "Galleries" in the menu it's empty. (I'm using SeaMonkey (Netscape/Mozilla thing)).

If a tree falls in upstate New York and no one is around to see it, will Kiryu-shi still take a picture? :p

Ruffy! I shall buy you the camera Smunkee's daughter has just so you stop taking so many pictures! (not really, don't stop)

I haven't really been motivated to take any pictures at all, so I blame you.

Photoshop. Well, Picasa. I don't use flash a whole lot because it ruins most of the photos. Guessing it's me that doesn't know how to properly use the flash modes or whatever. But since I hardly use flash, I've learned how to make the subject pop in most cases. Sometimes the colours just get really funky. Most of the time it's funky on purpose, other times it's accidental and I just keep it that way because it looks cool.
Are these light swishes? (http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/?action=view&current=around236.jpg)

Yessum.
Also:
"Jim Thorpe" is the actual name of a town? You have got to be kidding me. (http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/?action=view&current=stuff8087.jpg)

Tis (http://www.jimthorpe.org/index.html). It's a great town. Very historic and a big tourist spot.
No (http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/?action=view&current=stuff8070.jpg) you didn't! (http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/?action=view&current=stuff8044.jpg) >.<
Oh yes I did.
secondly i've decided to re-do my website. the old one i liked but.... well, i'm not sure. what do y'all think of this (http://www.hljphotography.co.uk/indexbw.htm)?
i'm also working on a stock photo website with my dad, selling photos. its exciting but hard work...
I love the new site.

I have a question about my B&W photos..

On my monitor, they look good and very B&W, but when printed, they're blue or green.. Is it my monitor that's lying to me, or the printer?

Also, random pictures!
