Just found this one I took back in about May:

Gah!
I can't get sunset shots! I just can't! :(
My house is set up in a way that the trees block out the sunset, and by the time I get to the place where the good view is, it's either non-existant, or covered by a huge ugly grey cloud that's miles long.

I was just down on the beach for a walk and happened to have my camera. Sun was setting really beautifully over Donegal so I started taking pictures...there's maybe 20 with different compositions.

Have you ever worn polarised sunglasses and looked at the sun when the clouds are moving? You can see the star itself quite plainly, because the reflected light is distorted by the movement of the clouds (or it's just a reflection of the sun, I'm not entirely sure). It has to be done mid-day, of course.
It's pretty cool, being able to see it without getting temporarily blinded by the reflected light. A perfect, glowing sphere of plasma. I'd love to see if one could get a photo of it like that.

If you get lucky, at sunset low, thin clouds can dim the sun enough to be able to look at it unaided. You've probably seen the sun through clouds during the day, but a sunset is a sight to behold. Especially if there are sunspots.
I've no idea if staring at the sun unprotected in the evening is a good idea. Probably not, lol.

A not bad article on some issues - certainly bringing up the point that almost all of the digital cameras do a crap job of auto white balance under dim incandescent light.
Of course, what he doesn't mention is that all of these cameras will let you quickly override that auto-balance with a white card (yes, spend that whole $1 and get one for your camera bag!).
I also take a rather dim view of someone comparing the stock, budget nikor zoom with results through a zukio prime lens.... that's apples and oranges which tilts heavily towards the film camera.
And frankly I thought the film shot of the stadium had a lot of blown highlights (the white seats in the "R", the light through the tunnel, etc.) that really bothered me. Sure, overall the shot was brighter, but he even notes that the camera shot a stop different so of course it was brighter.
I mean, I'm sorry but he shot those two cameras as if used by a beginner with who will never get past the full auto mode That may be a comparison some people want and all they ever desire to be, but in which case an SLR is already a wasted bit of overkill.
And the real fact is that most people - once they start playing with a digital - are able to quickly progress far beyond that status. Why? Because it doesn't cost a darn thing beyond a recharge and some disk space to take 5,000 or 10,000 shots to play around and try out the different settings and learn what they do. The equivalent learning curve with film is prohibitive.
Aw, PM, I only saw those now - thank you for going through the trouble of taking pics of that magazine! :fluffle:
I read both the article and Silliopolous' post, and I've started to look around for a digital camera.
I'll probably end up here asking more questions sooner or later. >.<

personally, i'm damn lucky in that respect: the sun sets directly outside my bedroom window.... its actually one of the things that really got me into photography, having such a great subject to take pictures of pretty much every day, and always the same subject and frame (near enough - it moves around during the year of course) meant i could experiment with different settings etc...

ooh cool... inventive! ;) :p
just did something similar myself actually... a roll of brown paper and some glass awards. worked kinda well, but a proper mini-studio would have been way better (though glass only really photographs well on black backgrounds)

OMG, before I looked at your album, I thought this was just one of those cups decorated with a little animal figurine (because the light makes it look like they're almost the same color, too) - but IT'S ALIIIVE!
Awesome shot!
i got one like that! love your lighting/colour and the pose of the thingy couldn't be much better :)
I looked at the tv for one second and looked back and it had climbed up and stared at me. I wanted to hump it..

So I read up on some cameras. Here are my choices so far (oh, and I'll give the analog camera back to my sister, including the lens, of course, so I'll have to start from scratch):
- Nikon D50 (http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Digital-Camera-18-55mm-3-5-5-6G/dp/B0009GZANC/sr=8-1/qid=1164065659/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-8088501-4820662?ie=UTF8&s=electronics)
That's the one Silliopoulus mentioned. It's probably the most obvious one for me, because it seems to be a really good and intuitively usable SLR camera for beginners.
It has 6.1 megapixels.
This would be about €550 (US$700) including the 18-55mm lens, maybe €80 less without the lens. The lens seems not to be the greatest but considering what a "good" lens costs, I think it'd be good enough for me. Well, then again, maybe I could get a better lens (with maybe more range) used for not that much more money.
- Canon EOS 350D (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Digital-Rebel-XT-f3-5-5-6/dp/B0007QKN22/sr=8-1/qid=1164067420/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-0644481-8862410?ie=UTF8&s=electronics) ("Canon Digital Rebel XT" in the US)
Another SLR.
I like this one because it's smaller and lighter (many complain that it's too small but since I'm used to a small automatic camera and never had a "big" camera I'd actually prefer that).
What I don't like is that it has this 7-point autofocus system that seems to be prone to take blurry pictures if you don't know what you're doing, don't pay attention, or are just plain unlucky, depending on who tells it...
It has 8 megapixels.
This would be about €700 (US$900) including the 18-55mm lens (which means it's a lot more expensive than in the US ), maybe €70 less without the lens.
Now that I've typed that out that's actually an awful lot of money. :/
- Fujifilm Finepix S9500 (http://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-Finepix-S9000-Digital-Optical/dp/B0007GIXS8/sr=1-10/qid=1164068136/ref=sr_1_10/002-3520997-8476824?ie=UTF8&s=electronics) ("S9000" in the US = Ruffy's camera! :))
Not an SLR.
The biggest selling points here are the 9 megapixels and the 28-300mm zoom lens.
It's not as beginner-friendly, though. Also, since I've never really had a digital camera I've never gotten used to the LCD screen instead of the normal finder, and every time I use one I hate it. I would MUCH prefer an actual finder over an LCD screen.
Since it's not an SLR, this would also be the cheapest at about €480 (US$615).
Any comments, hints, other suggestions etc. by the more experienced people here would be greatly appreciated. :)
Some questions that are on my mind:
Aren't the 6 megapixels of the Nikon 50D a bit low?
Does it have to be SLR or would the Fuji be just as good?
Is it obscene to spend that much money on a camera when you're only a beginner? :/

my D20 has a 8 (or is it 12?) point AF system, and i certainly have never had a problem with it. you can choose to focus on just one of the 8/12 points if you want to focus on something specific or set your place in the camera's dynamic range.
however, i have never used that particular camera so while my D20 may have no problems, that one might.
i also prefer canon over nikon mostly just because i have a canon... :P
Fujifilm Finepix S9500 (http://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-Finepix-S9000-Digital-Optical/dp/B0007GIXS8/sr=1-10/qid=1164068136/ref=sr_1_10/002-3520997-8476824?ie=UTF8&s=electronics) ("S9000" in the US = Ruffy's camera! :))

i don't know that camera, but i suggest reading the (extensive) reviews on this site: http://www.dpreview.com/
one of the questions you gotta ask yourself is whether or not you will be using interchangable lenses? i say this because you'll probably be stuck with whichever camera body you buy for the next (at least) 3 years, and i don't know if the Fuji has a built-in lens or not. the other consideration is that over 5 megapixels or so, you're into print-quality resolutions and detail, and any extra is just that.... extra. ie: not essential. so the relative resolutions of these cameras shouldn't be a huge consideration for you imho.
one of your main considerations should be the manual modes of the cameras. as i said, i know little about the Fuji (and don't have time to look it up), but the Nikon and the Canon (dSLR's) will have full manual control of aperature, exposure stops, shutter speed, ISO, WB, etc... learning to manipulate these manual settings is really a must to get the most out of your camera, and i would urge you to, if you are going to spend that much on a piece of kit, to get something that does the job (or you'll be kicking yourself down the line)
if the Fuji does full manual, then so be it (Ruffy should be able to tell us this better than anyone!) and your choice is made harder lol
Any comments, hints, other suggestions etc. by the more experienced people here would be greatly appreciated. :)

Aren't the 6 megapixels of the Nikon 50D a bit low?
Does it have to be SLR or would the Fuji be just as good?

1. as i said before, above 5 or 6 MP you get higher resolution pictures, but not hugely better quality pictures. if you were wanting to print your pictures (in magazines, etc) then the bigger the better (there's a 30 MP Fuji in production now (OMG!))
2. SLRs tend to allow greater control, but the Fuji may digitally simulate manual control as given on a real SLR.
3. No. photography rocks!! and as a beginner these cameras will allow you to learn and grow as much as you can in the world of photography without restricting your advance or holding you back. if you really enjoy photography and want to do more of it and get better, then these cameras are your friend(s). say you spent £250 on a half-decent point-and-click 35mm equivalent camera.... a year or so down the line you'll be itching to have more control over your pictures and only a SLR can truly give you that. so then you spend £500 on a SLR. in total you spent £750 and wasted 1/3 of that on a camera you could have bypassed had you got something decent in the first place *nods*
i guess its just a question of whether a) you can afford it, and b) whether you want to commit to having photography as a hobby (and if you're anything like me, spending a load of money on a camera will just be an incentive to use the bloody thing :p)

1)Yes, I want interchangeable lenses! I didn't even consider that the Fuji one might be built-in, I'll have to check.
2) Ah, okay. I was a bit sceptical because I kept reading that the resolutions weren't exactly up to snuff when it comes to poster-sized prints.
Now, I won't exactly do dozens of poster-sized prints per week, but I *would* definitely want the option to blow up some of the best pics and put them up. I have done so now with some of my bestest shots, so yeah.
Maybe I should find out what people mean by "poster-sized"...
one of your main considerations should be the manual modes of the cameras. as i said, i know little about the Fuji (and don't have time to look it up), but the Nikon and the Canon (dSLR's) will have full manual control of aperature, exposure stops, shutter speed, ISO, WB, etc... learning to manipulate these manual settings is really a must to get the most out of your camera, and i would urge you to, if you are going to spend that much on a piece of kit, to get something that does the job (or you'll be kicking yourself down the line)

Indeed.

And you're right, I would buy a digital camera, so it would mean spending half the money a good one would cost on a point-and-shoot (that I would hate because of all those digital quirks I hate, like the shutter delay and the LCD screen "finder"... >.<)

I spent *hours* reading through the reviews on that site last night - thanks so much for the link! :)
I've decided I'll buy the Nikon D50. Yay for decisions! :p
It's a very good camera, the most beginner friendly one, and offers the most relative to the cost.
It's for USB 2.0 and my notebook only has USB 1.0, so that sucks. But the Nikon website says it's compatible, so I'll see if I can deal with long download times. If not, I'll have to buy a USB 2.0 card, it seems - can you even put those into notebooks? (As usual, I'm clueless about computer stuff).
I'm still trying to decide if I should buy the kit including the so-so 18-55mm lense or buy only the body and look for a better lens to buy used. Hmm.
Will I even be able to tell the difference? Is that really somehting the amateur eye notices?
I don't need a huge macro lense, it just has to start at least at 18mm (my old point and shoot has the equivalent 28mm, so I definitely want that again, maybe even a bit wider, if possible). I'm much more of a landscape person than a portrait or close-up one, so wide angle is most important to me.

a good choice
and as for the USB issue, you can probably get a PCMCIA card to give you USB2
I'm still trying to decide if I should buy the kit including the so-so 18-55mm lense or buy only the body and look for a better lens to buy used. Hmm.
you'll want a good range rather than wide or telephoto extreme to begin with, and as a good standard lens just generally.
when i got my 20D, i decided against the kit lens and got a slightly wider range 18-80mm lens for not much more, and it gives me great range from decent (though not *good*) macro to ok telephoto. i realy want to be getting a couple of new lenses now, but it reall does do the job for most photoshoots :)
bear in mind also that digital lenses act differently to film ones. i'm too tired to remember exactly why (something to do with the relatvie positioning of film and the CCD in film and digital cameras respectively) but lenses on digitals are magnified by a factor of 1.6 iirc... which means a 18mm lens will be the equivalent of a 22mm lens or something. so if you want good wideangle you're going to have to go down to 14mm or so, bordering on fisheye
Will I even be able to tell the difference? Is that really somehting the amateur eye notices?
difference between what and what?
between the D50 and the other two cameras? probably not... its only something that you can really tell when comparing identical shots taken by different cameras side-by-side (a la in photography magazines)
for the most part (as i hinted at in my previous post) the quality of all three cameras will be most likely no less than excellent

The 18mm are actually the equivalent of the usual 28mm, hence why it has to have at least 18.
18-80 sounds pretty good, actually, and will really be all I need, I'm pretty sure.

between the D50 and the other two cameras?
Oh, sorry, no, I meant between the "not so very fantastic" lens that comes with the kit and a "good" lens. Is that something that an amateur can actually see? As in, are there really such noticeable differences between lenses?

Oh, believe me, it wasn't all that quick. I had been obsessing about it before, plus I spent DAYS on the internet comparing stuff. And it's not like posting "I've decided" actually meant I had decided - yesterday, I saw the Canon EOS 400D (= the latest Canon Rebel XT) on sale somewhere and BAM,it was back in the race.
But I went back to the site PM had linked me (http://www.dpreview.com/) and looked at the reviews again, esp. the customer reviews - and believe it or not, the ones for the measly old Nikon D50 were actually better. Seems there are quite some image problems with the XT for relatively many people. Huh.
In any case, that site is *really* good, IMHO. You should totally check it out, they have VERY detailed testing and comparisons and whatnot.
So last night I spent despairing over which lens to buy, and after looking at what felt like every lens ever made I've actually decided to go with the kit lens.

Hmm. Well I need to do research, but when I was at Best Buy a few weeks ago, I pointed out the canon xt to my mom and said "this is the one I almost bought" and the lady that was there looking at the case too said that she had one and really liked it. See? This is why I hate different opinions!
But yes, I guess the majority rules when it comes to deciding.

How do you show texture in a photo?

How do you show texture in a photo?
In what sense?
Boosting the sharpening can sometimes bring out more texture. Then again, direct side-lighting can do wonders too!
Can you be a bit more specific?
Oh, and a few recent ones...

I wish I could.. You see, there's this paper i got at school about a photo contese, and the theme is texture, but I lost the paper, and I have no idea what they mean by texture..

Well, without reading the details I would take that to imply a picture where you really get the sense of a textured surface. Where you can really imagine what it would feel like to touch it. e.g. A rough surface. Bricks. A macro of goosebumps.
Let's see... two I have that might sort of meet the criteria:
http://static.flickr.com/106/310759759_a4879857cd_o.jpg
http://static.flickr.com/121/273584329_44e27694be_o.jpg
Theme-type contests are usually open to pretty interesting interpretations of the category. Take a look at photofriday.com to see what I mean.
Oh, and if you have the equipment to use an off-camera flash, then here is a nice tutorial (http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/04/lighting-101-textural-lighting-for.html) on what I mean by using direct sidelighting to bring out surface texture. Strobist is THE place to go to really start learning about creative lighting.
Great photos.
Thanks :)

Little pebble upon the sand
Now you're lying here in my hand,
How many years have you been here ?
Little human upon the sand
>From where I'm lying here in your hand,
You to me are but a passing breeze.
The sun will always shine where you stand
Depending in which land
You may find yourself.
Now you have my blessing, go your way.
Happiness runs in a circular motion
Floating like a little boat upon the sea.
Everybody is a part of everything anyway,
You can have everything if you let yourself be.

Nice results and I like the concept here, I just find the patterns a bit to uniform for my preference. I'd prefer them to be a bit more..... chaotic.
I had a friend who took some really funky ones kinda like that. What he did was, in a fairly dark room plugged in a shole bunch of strands of christmas lights all round him, locked his SLR at a long exposure (two or three seconds), and then started just tossing it around spinning in the air. Takes a bit of nerve to do that with your camera..... but some of the shots came out brilliant!

Very amateur-type photographer, been interested in the hobby for a few years, but never had the time and money to really get as intensely into it as I'd like. Still, when I saw this thread I figured I'd toss up a few of my pictures to be mocked mercilessly by you folk =P

That any better?
Sorry, when logged in I just see them all as links, figured I'd screwed up the img tags, but that it was good enough as links that I wasn't going to bother fooling around to get it right. :p
When logged off, I see them in their hugeness.
Fixed now, smaller images and if clicked you get the full-size versions.
The tower one is interesting, because apparently people can't figure out what it is on their own. I've had several people compliment me on the picture when they see it, saying how nice the colour of the blue is, and the transition of colour from top to bottom, but... I've had people look at it sideways too.
Once I explain what the picture IS they still like it though, so it's OK.
And again, sorry for originally posting full-size images! :(

Not quite, Photomatix (http://www.hdrsoft.com/index.html) is a tool to help you merge several frames taken at different exposures in order to bring out far more detail across the dynamic range by extracting the details from the exposure that contains that detail. This way you can manage some of those really tricky situations where you have lots of detail either under- or over-exposed in a single frame if you try to expose properly under normal circumstances.
So, you can shoot into the sunset and still have foreground detail. Or shoot the exterior of the barn and still get some interior details as well.
All of those examples are composites of between three and five exposures, taken on a tripod using the exposure-bracketing settings of my camera.
IT's a neat effect and fun to play with sometimes when the subject matter and lighting lends itself to a little creativity.

ah riiiiiight.... i'll certainly give that a look-in! sounds good (*is thankful his camera has exposure bracketing*)
its a technique i looked at before and tried manually, with interesting results (clicky (http://www.hlj.me.uk/pics/Scotland/Edinburgh%2028'02'06%20059%202.jpg)), but the two pics weren't bracketed so its not quite right

Yep - similar technique, but letting them do the legwork for you - which is a hell of a lot easier than manually masking out bits and pieces over five layers...
And as a bonus, unless I'm very much mistaken that pic is a look down from Victoria Terrace as West Bow turns towards the Grassmarket in Edinburgh - which, if I'm correct, is rather a fun bit of nostalgia for me given that I'm not sure that I ever saw it during daylight during my time working there. Or sober for that matter.....

Yep - similar technique, but letting them do the legwork for you - which is a hell of a lot easier than manually masking out bits and pieces over five layers...

I only see a small part of them at a time and have to scroll to see the whole length/width. =(
But the album-thingy you use in a later post is better (see below), so please keep using that instead.*puppy dog eyes*

New poster to this thread(and to the forum overall really, haven't posted much :P)
Very amateur-type photographer, been interested in the hobby for a few years, but never had the time and money to really get as intensely into it as I'd like. Still, when I saw this thread I figured I'd toss up a few of my pictures to be mocked mercilessly by you folk =P
Bunch of pictures taken around Kingston (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingston%2C_Ontario) in Ontario, Canada. Most taken quite near Queen's campus(my university). Hi there! =) And nobody is ever mocked in this thread! ;p
Great photos! I especially like these two:

And Turquoise Days was right, the bottom of the tower one really looks like a Dalí painting!

I spent a bit of time in Edinburgh about a decade ago working with the British development team of the company I worked for back then at an office on Blair - which runs between the Royal Mile and Cowgate just up from the South Street Bridge, so the trek down to the Grassmarket was a rather frequent event. It was the trek back up that was generally more problematic... lol.
It was a great location to work from, especially as they always put me up at a decent hotel right in the area.

its called a polarisation filter :D
plus, exposure stopping down to make sure the colour of the sun is captured (rather than just its brightness) as well as focusing and auto-WBing on the right part of the sky (a medium-brightness part is best if its cloudy, just outside the sun's corona is best when you can see the sun itself)
besides, all photographers know that good photography is 75% luck, 15% having the right kit, and just 10% actual skill :p

Two (or maybe even three) posts, in true Ruffy style. This being the first one.
btw my website is almost finished http://www.hljphotography.co.uk/ :)
comments? I like it. =) The thumbnails are all pixellated and the gallery pics don't lead anywhere except for the Branksome sunset one, but I'm guessing that's the "under construction part". ;p
ETA: I just realized they lead somewhere after all - I just didn't know because the albums showed up way below what I can actually see on my screen.
wintery pics[/URL] I especially like this one (http://www.hljphotography.co.uk/images/winter%20common/album/pages/Southampton%20Common%20211206%20067.htm) and the way the trees look in this one (http://www.hljphotography.co.uk/images/winter%20common/album/pages/Southampton%20Common%20211206%20100%20copy%203.htm).
So me and my brother sent took our photos to Ritz lastnight and they will be making it into a calendar for mommy dearest.
The girl that works there said my pics were really good. I was looking at my brother and just.. blinded him with my ego. :p Hehe. So, what did mommy dearest have to say about her gift?
Three new posts; first post.

Finally, new pictures from the new camera. =)
I haven't done much with it yet, didn't have the time, so all the pics were taken on automatic, hence the weird focus issues in some of them.
Took them over christmas back home - I have yet to see a single snow flake this "winter" but we got lucky and had a white christmas nevertheless by virtue of dense fog hovering all through the holidays combined with freezing temperatures, which made for a very pretty winter wonderland made entirely of frost :

So I'm in the library at school and I see the magazine that had that "rural" photo contest back in July or whatever..
It has all the winners, I'm not even mentioned! :(
But, of course, the lady who sent in a picture of jars on a shelf gets in..
Then I see that they had another contest, where you could send in ANY photos taken in the county.. ended in December.

So I got this new fancy camera from my rich grandparents in Japan, and it's way outa my league (for now), and I was planning to post some of my first pics with it, but my computer fails at upoading...

And it was with a cheap digital camera, mostly at night, mostly from a moving car, and mostly in the rain. Some rather odd pictures including this one:

Okay, it has been a while since someone posted in PM's original photography thread, and every time I see people posting in the "Artists of NS" thread I'm sorely reminded that I can't paint or sculpt...
I'll steal the introductory paragraphs from PM's original thread, because he's the actual photographer here:
°°°°°°°°
This is a thread for all the photographers - budding, professional, hobbyists, all of you - of NS general. It's been a while since we've had one :).
So share your favourite photos, what camera(s) do you use, what kind of photography do you enjoy? Anything and everything photo related...
°°°°°°°°
Well, this one (http://photos.lydiard.net/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=2013&g2_imageViewsIndex=1&g2_navId=xfa2db50b) and this one (http://photos.lydiard.net/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=1811&g2_imageViewsIndex=1&g2_navId=xfa2db50b)
got rave reviews. I was especially proud of the compliments on the clouds, because all my life clouds have defeated my photographic skills. But not Canon, apparently... :headbang:

loving the monochrome pictures ruffy... somehow B&W pics always look more "arty" than colour ones (maybe because the viewer focuses more on the form & shapes rather than the colour...)
also love this one http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/newcam/wwwwww250.jpg - i assume thats a photoshop?
anyway, i also have a wee question for you people... i'm thinking about getting a new camera. this one. (http://www.cameraworld.co.uk/ViewProdDetails.asp?prod_code=PON05G000049&Prod_name=Fuji+FinePix+S5600+&CAT_CODE=5&SUBCAT_CODE=135) (DP review (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Fujifilm/fuji_finepixs5200z.asp))
don't get me wrong - i love my big, fat 20D, but its actually too big and expensive to take out generally... to just take around with me. and so often i miss photo opportunities just because i decided to leave the camera at home 'just in case', and often feel pressured into taking photos when i do have the camera with me, which then can stifle any creative energy.
so i wanna get a new camera i'll not be so scared to lose or break, and can just take around with me all the time (maybe not literally), so it has to be cheap. but at the same time it needs to have good manual control (thats more important to me than its megapixels) and a decent ISO for low light conditions.
this camera seems to fit the bill, and my only concern is it has no bulb exposure setting (only up to 15 secs). but it makes up for that with having a decent telephoto lens that beats my current EOS lens hands down (85mm currently, 320mm on this thing... and EOS lenses are fucking bloody expensive).
any thoughts? am i crazy or is it a bargain and just what i'm looking for? :)
edit: oh and i finally added all my old galleries (including a couple of new ones) to my website (http://www.hljphotography.co.uk)

(http://www.cameraworld.co.uk/ViewProdDetails.asp?prod_code=PON05G000049&Prod_name=Fuji+FinePix+S5600+&CAT_CODE=5&SUBCAT_CODE=135) (DP review (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Fujifilm/fuji_finepixs5200z.asp))
My friend told me it looks like a good camera. I can't complain about fuji.
and often feel pressured into taking photos when i do have the camera with me, which then can stifle any creative energy.
Don't you just hate it when people say "Oh oh oh! Take our picture!!"? I mean really.. some people just don't understand photography..
so i wanna get a new camera i'll not be so scared to lose or break, and can just take around with me all the time (maybe not literally),
My skinny, now ghetto, but nice Konica Minolta is nice because it's so tiny, and takes good pics... so I either use that, or just use my cellphone camera.
edit: oh and i finally added all my old galleries (including a couple of new ones) to my website (http://www.hljphotography.co.uk)
The San-Francisco gives me a 404 :(

To be honest, I'm more proud of the titles of this lot. A good lot of colour, but I think that's more the camera being able to pick it up. Maybe when I get my ass down to the photo shop to get the other films developed...

 I've put that one up on here before, I think. There was about 6 of us random people all stopped to grab that picture.
I wonder if the exposure meter on my camera is a little crocked? All these bright sunlight photos have a really intense look - almost like they were ever so slightly overexposed. Maybe I'll try taking the aperture down a notch. Its 40 years old, so I wouldn't be suprised...

yay new camera!! its tiny :p
image quality is pretty crappy compared to my 20D, especially grain and colour rendition, as well as detail (as to be expected 5mp 2/3" CMOS vs 9mp larger dSLR sensor), but its small and sweet and easy to use... not to mention it was cheap :)
camera itself is less responsive in terms of autofocus and other features that i'm used to accessing directly (not through menus) but on the whole i'll get used to it.
some sample images:
