"I'm just wondering how I could beat Cain." I chuckled nervously. Looks like I'll have to pull out high-level attacks if I ever needed to fight him...though I hate to do that. Collateral damage tends to be heavy if I used a Lightning Strike (spectators blackened to ash, swirly eyes, that sort of thing).

"She needs all the ships she can get remember," Kurt said through gritted teeth. "Of coursed she'd be pissed off about that, it's left her guard down somewhat."

"Ah, now that makes sense." I said.

"I can't get any deeper into her mind," Kurt then said and opened his eyes. "I can only feel her emotions."

"Dark Jedi plus Goa'uld equals bad for mind-reading." I said, still could feel the pain of the mental attack last night.

"She's almost here," Kurt said looking stoney eyed at the view outside the ship. "Better get ready."

"Right. Captains, what do you have on long-range scans?" I asked the senior officers.

"We see something on the edge of our scans." Captain Horvath said. "Same signature as the Ha'tak that was found earlier."

"Same here." Kondar said.

"That's the Pantera, sirs." I replied. "Everyone in position?"

"Yes." "Right in position."

The plan called for a crossfire strike as soon as the ship reverted to realspace. Two Dragon-class Star Destroyers will block off retreat exit points as the Interdictor powered up it's gravity well, and the other two ships, Firestorm and Dragonflame will back up the Elsa in the crossfire attack.

Kurt looked dead centre at a point in space. With his eyes fixed dead upon the point, his tail twitched nervously. Quatre was worried, he could read it upon the princes face that the situation was bad.

"Five, four, three, two, one," he said and the Pantera arrived from hyperspace. "Here she is."

The interdictor cruiser powered up it's gravity well, and warning lights would come on denoting a loss of ability to traverse into hyperspace. Then, the fleet got into position, beginning to entrap the Pantera as planned.

"All right, someone give her a surrender message before we fire." I said.

Kurt teleported up to the comman console. Jr and Eamonn stepped aside to allow him access.

"This is Prince Kurt Wagner II of the Durandal, surrender now and you will not be destroyed," he said.

Still nothing, Kurt looked down at Daniel.

"Well, we gave her a chance. Open fire." I ordered.

"Your fate is sealed Lady Nocturne," Kurt said.

The Elsa began its attack on the Pantera. The shields however were holding up as it returned fire.

The Firestorm and Dragonflame plus their escorts join in on the attack, turbolasers slamming into the enemy shields as fighters watched for enemy movement around the Pantera denoting enemy fighters or other ships.

"Shit, death gliders," Kurt swore as a dozen of them exited the Pantera. It didn't look much but they were much easier to manouvre then a large ship was.

"Red Squadron, go!" The Firestorm CAG ordered, and a squadron of X-wings went out to meet the Death Gliders.

The Death Gliders fired at the approaching X-wings. Meanwhile, the Pantera was under heavy attack.

"Their shields are beginning to fail," One of the girls said.

"Take them out," Kurt ordered. "Destroy the Pantera."

The X-wings broke into groups of four and began to systematically defeat the Death Gliders, while the capital ships intensified firepower for maximum destruction. If the Dark Lady's on board, she will soon meet with death.

Kurt watched the battle. The Pantera was being obliterated, the attacks from the ship were becoming less frequent.

"Shields have failed,"

A series of explosions rang through the Pantera it was not long before its defeat. The last of the death gliders were destroyed.

"Good, that should take care of things." I said. But I couldn't help but feel that it was just too easy. There should have been more resistance from this ship, either in the form of Force attacks or a fleet...

Some kind of force boom was emitted from the Pantera that rocked the ships.

"Fuck," Kurt swore. "How come they didn't use anything like that before."

The Pantera used the oppertunity to use all its weapons at once.

"Now things heat up!" I said, as the return fire splashed against the shields of the Star Destroyers. "It's still only a matter of time..."

The Pantera exploded before their very eyes. They were sure that this time it was no hologram.

"And there it goes," Kurt said, coldly.

"Yeah." I said. Seems anticlimatic, though...

"Yeah, they always do." I sighed. At least one part of it was defeated.

Val stood there looking at the planet, then asked Wes "Should we wake Remy and go down there? I'm itching to get off of this ship." She had a look in her eye that seemed if she didn't get off the ship she would do something bad.

Kurt tapped his hand on his lightsaber, "Well I don't know about you guys but I'm going to get some sleep," he said. "And this time I hope I'm not disturbed."

"I'll dismiss the fleet if nothing comes up in the next 48 hours." I said. "It looks like our job here is done, though. Now if you'll excuse me, I, too will need some rest."

I headed back to my room, and stripped down to boxer shorts and undershirt before getting some shuteye. Soon enough, I was asleep.

The fleet lost a fighter to the enemy gliders, although the pilot managed to go EV and get collected. He'll be back in another cockpit soon. It settled down for the night watch and the crew were satisfied with another job well done.

After several hours of waiting it became clearer that the defeat had been real. There was no cloaked ship try to sneak away and there were no lifesign readings from within the wreckage. Jr knew that Kurt might be right about this not being the last they heard from Lady Nocturne. He decided it was time he turned in and got some sleep.

Kurt headed out onto the bridge to check on things, he'd noticed that Eamonn and Jr had gone to bed. If it wasn't for those strange girls that all looked the same, he'd be alone. At least until Quatre joined him anyway.

"Any change?" he asked the girls

"No your majesty," one of them told him.

Kurt nodded, Wonder if this was actually a message from the Norns, he thought to himself.

The ship seemed to begin shaking around him, an attack? He was sure of it, but why would Lady Nocturne have sent the rest of her fleet to attack this long after her defeat. In fact Kurt hadn't seen any other ship approach.

"What the fuck?" he said as a bright white engulfed the ship. He felt that this was it, expecting death he closed his eyes.

"I hope you learned something from this Prince Kurt," came a soft female voice.

The voice was familiar, he knew exactly where he had heard it before. "Verdani," he said.

"Yes I'm glad that you recognise my voice," she then said.

Kurt tried opening his eyes but found he couldn't.

"This was too show you how not to launch an attack on Azazel. You must build up any forces but I'm afraid some of your allies will fall by the wayside and will harm your chances for a few years."

Kurt was finally able to open his eyes again. "A few years?" he said to himself, not noticing if anyone else was there.

"That would be too much of a headache for me," Wes sighed as they broke through the atmosphere.

I awoke to my alarm clock sounding "Reville" and rubbed my eyes. I headed into the shower, and then I came back out, wiping my soaked hair and refirming my rat-tail to my preference. I then put on yesterday's clothes, no need to change until they're clearly dirty. After brushing my teeth, I headed on down to the mess hall.

Kurt sat upon the bridge pondering what Verdani had told him. He wondered what she meant about allies falling by the wayside. The Norns were always rather weird in their prophecies. Quatre never liked it when Kurt was quiet like this as he always kept his thought to himself, but he could read it upon the princes face that whatever it was was bad, very bad. Instead he placed his head on the young princes shoulder and waited for Kurt to want to talk about what was on his mind.

Kurt was still silently staring at space in front of the ship as Eamonn entered the bridge. "Contemplation mode I see," he said walking up behind the lovers.

Quatre looked up at him and nodded. "He won't say anything though," he said. "He's worried because it was a visit from Verdani."

As soon as I neared the bridge, I could sense a residual Force energy here. "So how are ya, Kurt?"

Kurt said nothing, he just closed his eyes.

"He's had a visit from Verdani and hasn't spoken since," Quatre explained.

"Interesting." I said. I wondered who. "Well, certainly Coreworlds isn't going to fall, not in such a short time considering the current situation. You have nothing to worry about from us." (Two years later, I would eat those words with a cup of Sith.)

Kurt stood up. "You can't be so sure about that," he replied. "Knowing the Norns it'll be my closest allies and I've already lost Gabriel and Grimdale."

I looked straight into his eyes. "Then I promise you this. On my honor as a Jedi and the Heir Apparent of Coreworlds, no matter what happens, no matter how, I'll help you when the time comes."

"Whenever you're ready, contact Kuat Drive Yards. They'll give a discount if you mention Masakis somewhere." I smiled.

"The fleet is a good idea, but we'd at least need a large ground force as well, no doubt my grandfather will have underground bunkers built." Then paused for a moment. "Unless of course he still has access to the dimension in which he was a prisoner for nearly two thousand years."

"Well, if so, you can probably keep him locked up there for a while longer." I said.

"Problem is, no one knows the spell for it," Kurt sighed. "It was lost a millenia ago, people just forgot that he ever existed."

"Well, they're still cleaning up the debris from the Pantera," Jr said, watching some of the crew from the Elsa going to work. "They'll see if anything can be salvaged from it, same with The Deathship. I think the whole ship will be fine with referbishment and a name change."

"Anyone pick out a name yet?" I asked.

"Nope, last thing on our minds at the moment," Jr said with a smile.

"Well enough to return to the academy anyway," Jr said. "I'd suggest asking Master Elanessë for some training in keeping your thoughts to yourself."

I made to dismiss the fleet back to their normal patrols, but the Dragonflame insisted on sticking around to defend me, so it was decided that it's task force would stay until I'm ready to leave DN, and the others will head home. The other Star Destroyers blinked with psuedomotion, and then disappeared, and the task force defending the Durandal formed up with us in preparation to jump.

The Durandal soon entered hyperspace and they had a short journey ahead of them. Quatre returned to the bridge, but Kurt was not with him.

"We won't be going back to DN," he told them. "Salazar is going to captain the Ayreon and bring the others back."

"Man I'm glad I'm not aboard," Eamonn joked.

"So where are we heading?" I smiled.

I put away the cards, and waited to descend to the planet.

"I think Dan's been hanging around Kurt's uncle, Remy too much," Eamonn suggested with a smirk. "Next thing you'll know we'll have exploding cards on our hands."

"Wanna bet?" I smirked evilly, drawing on the Force to introduce energy into one of my cards, turning it warm.

I let the ace of spades cool down and returned it to the deck, watching the others do their work.

After an hour the ship left hyperspace and the familiar planet that the Exetergrecia Academy was situated on.

"I'm sure you'll find someone down there to play cards with," Jr joked.

"Sure, right after I fry the guy with the fire powers." I smirked.

"Finrod and the others won't turn up for a couple of days or so anyway so you're safe in the meantime," Eamonn grinned as he and Jr headed for the lift and waited for Dan.

I got up and headed to the lift.

The lift took them down to a waiting shuttle. Kurt and Quatre were already inside waiting to take off.

"Typical, they grab the best seats as always," Eamonn muttered, before walking over.

"Eh, a seat's a seat." I said, taking a window seat.

"The controls are in Japanese anyway," Jr smirked as they sat down.

Kurt laughed as he started up the shuttle and flew out of the Durandal. It appeared that for today, Eamonn would be in one of his bad moods.

I settled down to enjoy the ride down to the planet.

The shuttle safely landed in the familiar spaceport.

He then led the others outside to a strangely quiet academy. There didn't look to be any students running about, nor were there any dragons flying overhead.

"I congradulate you on defeating Lady Nocturne," he told them.

"Kurt, the others have not returned yet so make yourselves comfortable," Master Elanessë then told them and turned to back inside his office.

"Well you, Quatre and I still have rooms here," Eamonn pointed out. "It's just Jr and Dan that'll need guestrooms."

Inside the room, he walked over to the window and looked out. The first lessons of the day must have been over as he saw some students walking outside. Looking towards the edge of the forest he could see Kurt and Quatre talking. He wondered what they were talking ababout as Quatre threw his arms around the prince and they hugged.

Jr then turned away and went to lie down on the bed and take a nap.

I shrugged, and headed out of the office and down to the grounds. Maybe there's someone around who won't care about me being an 'outsider'. Fat chance, though.

Kurt and Quatre were easily visible from the front of the academy as they were sat under a tree at the edge of the forest. Several students of various ages ran past Daniel, taking no notice of him. In front of him, a black dragon landed and morphed into a black haired girl of about thirteen.
