The Armed Republic of Unum Veritas wishes it to become public knowledge that we are currently researching the merits of creating a carrier-based version of the F-22 Raptor. As of now, we are working out a few troublespots in the design. Our next step will be to build a fully-operational prototype, and to subject it to grueling tests in the areas of dogfighting, air-to-surface combat, and general aerodynamics. We will then compare the test results to the F/A-18 Super Hornet. From there, we will determine if it is worth manufacturing this new fighter, or if the Super Hornet will still be the premier naval fighter. If this new fighter (the Sea Raptor) proves to outstrip the Super Hornet, it will be pressed into production and will be made available to the public. Thank-you.

Our flight trials of the prototype Sea Raptor have been completed. A brand new Super Hornet went through the exact same trials and its score is posted here as well to give customers an idea of how these planes stack up againse one another. Finally, we pitted our two best pilots against one another, in a mock aerial combat situation. One pilot was given the Super Hornet to fly and the other the Sea Raptor. After a total of five rounds, the Sea Raptor won 4-1. Due to its success in almost completely outstripping the current premier naval fighter, the F/A-18 Super Hornet, we will begin offering the brand new F/A-22 Sea Raptor to the public very soon. This fighter is a carrier-based air superiority fighter with air-to-ground, air-to-sea, and air-to-air capabilities. It can primarily be used for fleet defense, or even as a strike aircraft. It can easily be outfitted to perform as a fighter-bomber, or can be left to its normal role as an air-to-air fighter. Unum Veritas' own navy is currently in the process of switching our primary naval fighter from the F-14 Tomcat to the brand new F/A-22 Sea Raptor. Unfortunately we have a large amount of F-14's on our hands that need a new owner. We will be selling 500 F-14's for a total of $6 billion (about half of what it would normally cost). The "small gun" count is only the one used by me (I think the production one probably only has big and medium guns). Also, the crew count is a total n00b estimate. For these and other reasons, I suggest you use this incomprehensible image (if anything) as the one in the catalog until the, um, "painting" is available. http://www.sc3000.com/forums/images/face5.GIF

A few other notes about the full image....

The "rough scale" guns are, generally, roughly to scale. The others ("enlarged") would be less than two milimeters long if I drew them actual size. That's why it looks like there are too many more than already too many guns in that image. I've removed them from the smaller one.

"Phytonadione" is Vitamin K (thus the "Special K" on the command tower - our navy is a bit less formal in these matters than most). It's also the name of a major Imminent Deletion city, along with "Acidophilus."

Obviously, the planes shown are only a sample of the number you could fit. I'm not sure if you could fit 150, even with the "underground parking" in the bow, but there are three runways. You might want to change the description to roughly 100 planes with three runways, 125 with two, 150 with one, and 175 with none (VTOL-only). Of course, it depends on the size and type of plane, and this would be with the shrunken Harriers and helicopters I have here. So... it's your decision. http://www.sc3000.com/forums/images/face4.GIF

Speaking of the planes, these are the types shown....

Bow End - The new, as-yet unnamed Imminent Deletion helicopter designed to carry swimming torpedoes and all kinds of other stuff. It's in a pit sunken a few feet below the deck, designed to protect from direct hits during a battle. Of course, you wouldn't really want to have any planes on the ship during a battle (I would probably move the ship within a few miles, launch all the planes, and join the rest of the assault as a battleship, leaving the planes to return to another carrier remaining back in a safe zone), but if you were attacked or whatever, this could be useful.

Runway - This was supposed to be an F-14. Bleah. http://www.sc3000.com/forums/images/face5.GIF

Elevator - F-23W Sea Spider. Note the canards for incresed maneuverability and decreased runway length. I still haven't finished the doctored photo, so it's not officially in production, but eh. By the way, the "elevator" is hydraulic and can raise or lower any plane 30 feet in less than two minutes. F/A-18 Super Hornet - I'm still trying to decide whether this or the Tomcat is the worst on this page....

The F/A 18 isnt the "premier fighter of the Navy." The "premier" fighter is the F-14, which still outclassed the F-18 in every aspect except payload. The F/A-18 was designed for attack runs, and if NEEDED to go into manuevers in a dogfight, for example, it could jettison its bombs and sitll be manueverable. The F-14 still outclasses it, however.

Texarnica, according to the navy website, they are slowly moving away from the Tomcats because they are becoming outdated. I assumed that the new plane would be the Super Hornet because its the only one I've heard about. But either way it is irrelevant, the point is the Sea Raptor is the best. hehehehehehe

I would just like to call more attention to the X-29. This plane is based on research done by Boeing, Northrop Grumman, NASA, and the USAF in the early 1980's. This program also helped to develop the F-18 and the SR-71. The theory was that forward swept wings would increase speed and maneuverability, allow for a higher degree of attack, and prevent stalling. The project confirmed all of these theories, but publicly it was terminated. Well, Unum Veritas has now dug up the files from this extinct program, combined the results with modern technology, and created what is, perhaps, the greatest fighter in the air today. By rounding the edges of all surfaces, as well as fusing all sections together, and building the exterior out of a new composite, this fighter is quite stealthy as well. As any naval fighter pilot can tell you, there are times when fleet-defense can become extremely tricky, but the X-29 is built to deal with these problems. Its higher angle of attack enables it to deal with awkward situations in a lethal manner, and still survive the encounter. A single squadron of these planes, coupled with an E2-C Hawkeye and a few AEGIS ships can provide the best-possible defense for a carrier battle group. Although they are quite pricey, a single squadron could be used for highly important missions with a great efficiency. We are also currently looking at ways to drop the price, but so far we've only managed to increase factory production some. We highly encourage any nation in need of increased naval airpower, any nation with the need to project power from aircraft carriers, or any nation that just needs a good jet to protect its ships to check out the X-29.

You might not remember me, but we acquired two hovercarriers, back when you were starting.

You see, we have come a long way, especially in the R&D department.

Thanks to you, some of my people have come with ways of giving the edge to old ideas and making them workable. When we analyzed the idea behind the hover carrier, we saw that we could have build it ourselves, IF we had thought of it before. Thanks to you, my country has sharper scientists.

We also noticed several... flaws in your carrier design. With the tech level you are using they are unavoidable.

First, the lifting engines are huge, heavy and tax a lot the resources of the atomic power plant. This is this way because of the gruesome weight they have to lift: the ship itself, along with crewmen, airplanes, fuel, replacement parts, food, defense systems, etc. This also limits the max speed.

Second, in land, the skirts are severily eroded due to the weight and terrain irregularities. This limits even further max land speed.

Third, the reactor refrigeration is a closed cycle one, and that is always dangerous. Most classic fission-based carriers use seawater for helping in the refrigeration of the reactor. You couldn't do that in a ship that could go on land.

As I said, you cannot avoid them as they are technological tradeoffs.

We have redesigned and refitted our carriers along with the technological advances we have made, correcting most of the flaws.

1.- We changed the atomic (fission) power plant for a nuclear (fussion) one. This gave us almost unlimited power and resolved the refrigeration issue. But we had to redistribute the inner space of the hull, losing some space for fighters and parts (from 150 to 100). Also, our fighters (TIEs) are bulkier that conventional fighters, so i think you could fit some more (OOC: but TIEs do not drink fuel like hooligans after a match.)

2.- The second change we made is of a higher tech level, so we decided to make TWO versions of the hover carrier: one let's say higher-tech for internal use, and one lower-tech for selling and exporting. It involves changing all the lifting engines with repulsor lifts, and it has a more demanding maintenance technology. This change solves most of the speed and skirts problems.

And now we come to our problem: we don't know how to sell these things!

We don't have a shop, don't have contacts and don't have the know-how of selling a used broom to save our lives.

So, remembering where we got the idea from, and seeing that you seem to be faring quite well, we approach to you with the following proposal:
