I think Max Barry is just a normal nation, he may even be in this very forum debating whether [violet] is him or not.
He probably pops up on the forums now and again, an experienced player who may dissapear for periods of time yet come back knowing what has been going on.

Violet is a character from Max's book, Jennifer Government. The square brackets just indicate and admin.

Max does have a normal nation and does read over the forums, more specifically the NationStates 2 and Jennifer Government boards.

Yeah i know, exceptionally wierd. It does show us Mr Barry tends to get into strange situations with reporters. I found particularly strange the comment by Monkey Boy in the last bit about 'alleys'. Complete madness.

He is more likely to adopt a normal game name and hide in the shadows. I had suspicions about one country but they proved to be false, this guy is going to be a hard on to catch. I have al;so read some of the 'conspiracy' theorey's (sorry for my awful spelling) in Archives (i think). They make quite interesting reading if you have a few minutes to spare.

I doubt it. I think Max would spell better as well (i mean no offence by this, its just a theory). Though it may have given us an insight into a tactic of Max's. Perhaps he does keep changing nations every few months. He could have many puppets, one he uses to advise people with, [dredd] to modorate with and another to post normally with.

However, I doubt he's a high-profile nation like Parratoga or Spoffin (don't mind the specific examples), it just wouldn't make sense. It doesn't seem too unlikely that he is actually [violet].

Since Max Barry = God in nationstates, only he should be able to exist at multiple points in space simultaniously and compose his nation of "non"people ... Plus the title "Negative Sized, System Manipulating Nation" which gets an error when you try to enter it .. and it's a little suggestive anywhen.

Like we have already said, read the 'Stickies' in the other forums (Nanakaland writes particularly useful stuff).
You can create your military using real figures for a country close to your population. Your population grows over time and you will have to increase your military to grow with it.
See the 'Show of your military here' thread for ideas of realistic militaries. There are also several GDP calculators floating around, these help you to work out your nation budget and your military budget.
The most important rule is not to Godmod (Ie: I have 10000000000000000000000 nukes and they are all coming at you along with my 793939393939393 tanks and 383983847587598259953196431 Infantry.)
Godmodding really annoys people on here (as i found out) so dont do it.
I wouldnt even think of declaring war or making alliances etc unitl you have read the stickies and got a good idea ofwhat this thing needs.
Good spelling and few typo's also helps things to run smoother. also, you might be better adding some punctuation to you posts, paragraphs too.
TRY NOT TO ALWAYS WRITE IN CAPS BECAUSE IT DOESNT MEAN WE WILL PAY MORE ATTANTION TO YOU AND IT ALSO ANNOYS US.
Should you post anything unsuitable, wathc out for the Mods (looks left and right). Man, these guys (and gals) can really kick butt when they want.

Well, the file that edits those things is still there. If they did change it, then they could just change things in the mySQL table. You never know....

I have seen a possible in my theory. The NS clock is 4 hours behind GMT not australian time, but this is the time zone for the north pole and a small area of Canada. This means it is probably a deliberate misdirection. Another thing is a mod hasnt posted on this thread since my last post. Maybei got really close and they are franticly trying to comeup with a feasble reply.

I'm sure he does actually play this game though. Somebody else already said it that he likely enjoys reading threads like this so there's no reason to believe he or anyone else that knows will reveal which nation or nations he is. And I'd guess he has, like a lot of players, more than one nation. There are nations nobody would ever guess is him. It just makes sense. His agent probably has one or more to.
My best guess is there's somewhere a password=protected region (or not) that is mostly Max and his friends.
Someday there will be a biography and all will be revealed.
If you were Max would you want everyone to know and start a thousand threads complaining about this, that, and the other thing directly to you?
Besides half the fun in not knowing is speculating.

I grabbed it on a whois when Salusa was opping #nationstates_technical - Check the AOP list for #nationstates_technical if you want verification. Furthermore, Salusa has said previously that he's in Upstate New York - and Rochester is in Upstate New York.
