Exactly 3 Chinook helichopters hovored about 3 feet above the ground. A sliding door flashed open and a Computer operated 20mm MG with heat sensored scanned the area. A robotic voice said CLEAR. 20 troops hopped from the helichopter and landed on the knee high grass waving from the spinning rotor's of the transport. 60 Special Operation Army Units known as the "Stryke Kommand0" had landed on Mystic Mountian, kicking off Operation Shirlock Hommes.
The Company Commander, Major John F. Woods ducked and waved and troops moved ahead, and made a triangle-like perimeter in the open field. He then began hand signals and soldiers took notice, stayed low, and crouched into nearby trees. The soldiers split off into their designated groups of 4 and began walking in a long line of 15 groups: 1 covoring the front, 2 on each side, and one in the back. Each group was about 10 feet apart from eachother.
The air was thin-some soldiers began to swear and lose some breathe as they marched on in the close to 90 degree weather on the massive mountian. Unusual for such a weather for high terrian. The soldiers stopped at a open field and lined up along it's perimeter. 2 infront, 2 holding the flank for each group.
A tiger was fiesting on a deer in the open field. When sudden movement began in a near by bush- a creature, about 9 foot tall, inverted legs(Knee's are backwords to human beings) With brownish-black skin and 4 inch claws. Leaped out of the bush. The tiger was frightened and began a dash to the trees. The creature closed in on the tiger 80 feet in close to five seconds. The tiger was on it's back the next thing it knew, and the creature had bitten it's neck- death struck the air. Some soldiers drew their AK-102's ready at the creature as it had been fiesting on the fiester. Blood, and guts flew from the body as it ate. One soldier held his nose and Major Wood noticed and had the biggest 'OH SHIT' look a man could ever have. The Corporal let a sneeze.
The creature stopped eating immeditaly and stood up straight and around it's soldier. It's face-resembled a human's-but looked like a dead skeloton's face, with rotting skin, but with fangs and red glowing eyes. It had been alerted. The major watched the creature and suddenly about 20 birds fluttered away from a nearby tree. They looked towards the almost 8 foot high grass between them, and the tree. The grass began to slowly move down, something was in it...a soldier screamed and started full auto into the trees. This started a erupting of violence. The creature eating began a full sprint at the soldiers as 5 more of them leaped out of the grass, almost dodging the bullets. 3-10 shot burst erupted along the lines. Some men, manning the Squad MG the IMI Negev, began going full auto on his tripod in the area.
One creature stopped and braced itself and jumped probably 20 feet in the air and landed on a soldier and bit into his head, leaving 3/4 of his head left, and exposure to his brain. The creatured attacked and broke the lines. Some soldiers fled and others just paniced and went full auto. Major Wood and 11 other soldiers fell back to a small oasis with about 3 inch water and a small waterfall anout 15 foot high. They walked into the water. A word was not spoken as screams of men, roars of monsters, and gunfire continued for the next 10 minutes. A F-96 Talon flew overhead. Major Wood was reminde dof his radio "This is Omega 9 do you copy overhead aircraft?" Static was heard. A grim look was expressed as he suddenly stepped in deeper water, from 3 inch to a waist deep drop off. The soldiers continued into the silvery pond. The major put up his fist, putting the meaning the halt.
The screams had stopped. He looked around, and only heard bird chirps, and water flowing. It was to quite he thought-a burst of water rushed behind him, a soldier had been drug under. "GET OUT OF THE WATER!!" he yelled. The 11 ramaining soldiers ran for the pond shore, another one had been drug under, then another, then another...8 remained when the reached the shore. a Pvt. was taking his last step from the water when a arm, about width of a grown man's thigh, grabbed a hold of his foot, and would not let go. The 21 year old fell for his stomach and scratched at the mud and began a swift pull to the water. 2 soldiers grabbed each arm and began a struggle to pull.
When finally the monster let loose, they pulled him into shore when the noticed the impossible, both his legs had been gone, totally cut clean. The man screamed. The other soldiers tried to shush him, but he screamed until he quited, and died within 30 seconds. The major grabbed up his ammo and took his side arm and put it into his utility belt. They ran on until they reached a open field, with the grass not 6 inches high. They stopped in the middle of it and sat, exhausted, back to back in a circle- 7 soldiers remained. TO BE CONTINUED.

The colony named Vlaanderen now is a blooming community of over 40,000 men, women and children.
The military activity is raised from 2,000 to 20,000.

After my radio to the Hammer Frigates, I received back immeditaley a signal of having found something, it was a small transport ship. They were searching it while I was sending orders to them, they say it had nothing aboard. It had shown signs of being run, but it was as if the operators hath just disappeared into nothingness. Do you know if these operative would choose this boat? If so, it would be sad to say they were either dissintegrated by someone or went overboard (which I higly doubt they would do that). I will get my Frigates to come back to dock and get nets to pull across bottom to see if any bodies are appeared. Builder wish thee luck.

Despite Previous plans not to expand, following an order from the Most Holy and Omnipotent Emperor Sohi the colony is now expanded, and defensive encampments constructed as a precautionary tactic.

Construction of the Port Colonia, the colonies recently named capital, is 37% complete. The first residential complex was opened today and settlers haved moved in. It is estimated that the rest of Port Colonia’s construction will finish on the deadline.

OmniPetrol, the HEWC’s leading supply of petroleum products has opened an oil rig offshore of Port Colonia. The creation of such signals the presence of sizeable marine oil fields, and the creation of over 1,500 jobs, which is a boon for the Colonies thriving economy.

Plans to make the colony self sufficient are well underway, however it is expected to take between two to four years for complete self sufficiency. Meanwhile the Emperor is continuing to authorise massive amounts of Capital for the construction of the Colony.

The colonies military is now fully entrenched, and is capable of repelling an attack by a much large force. Construction of a Super Charged Mass Deliverance System Cannon is planned in an undisclosed location. This cannon shall only be used for internal defence, and not offence. A fort, Fort Viktor, has been order to supply advanced defensive systems to the colony to ward off the threat of aggression.

A message soliciting a request for a Non-Aggression Defensive Pact with the pre-eminent military power in the area, the colony of Neo-Praetonian has been sent signed by the Viceroy himself.

The first baby was born in the colony in the early hours of yesterday. The media went on the ascribe the remarkable health and calmness of the child in birth to be a direct sign from the Water Cooler that the colony is blessed.

"Commander I've got an incomming transmisson from the Governor of ZEC." The Intelligence officer

An RF-1 was on patrol, only one, armed with four Sidewinders and a 1,000 pound bomb. It was deep inside the Continent, it was giving off reports, you know of movement and such. The pilot, was half asleep, he then woke up when he heard the plane's alarm.

"Wha?! What?! Oh shit! Something crashed!" He knew this because he looked at his radar, it was beeping, something was moving, fast. He speeded towards the border of the Zaktarian Colony, making sure not to pass the border, he then started to radio them.

"This is Tiger 5 to Zaktarian Colony, something has crashed inside your Colony, do you require assistance?"

During studies at the colony Sanctumer, the sensitive vibration equipment picked up a large measurement on its monitor. This occurence was unnatural and will be investigated further after development of colony.

OOC:The land I had set for colonization was just entirely expanded over by Red Tide 2 and Morathia. I made the claim yesterday, at about this time, but my colony was never foundeed or recognized on any maps after the post. If anyone can fix it, thanks. I hope it won't make too much confusion.

OOC: The Island of Rose your little head of my time I hasn't crashed yet and second the colony looks like an mountain from the outside so you should see it and I haven't told who I am offical yet. When the space ships crashes you should see it disapper into the mountain and then a hugh blast. If you look at the map i edited you should see the blast radius.

The Zarium Started to desend faster and faster. Only the crew was left onboard space ship and they would meet a certain death.But crew knew that they had saved life of Hundreds Of Thousand Zaktarian's.
The Zarium Hit the ground and exploded almost immediately,luckly the colony's shield kept the shockwave and the heat from spreading, but the shield could stop the light and the smoke.

In news today, the govenment has announced that it has decided to claim the entire island. The military facility has been slated for a $10bn upgrade to allow for the construction of the naval docks to allow fo the housing and resupplying of over 750 naval ships, plus their crew. This facility will be the largest of Raginsheep's military facilities and provides an force deployment option on the other side of the world.

Also, a civilain contractors residence has been established. A school, high school, shopping mall and various other civil admenties will be built for the contactors. It is expected that over the next 10 years, over 1 million civilans including the families of military personnel stationed at the facility will move to the region.

The fifth convoy reached the southern boundary of Red Tides claim. Once again the construction workers began too build the colony while the surveyors went out forward too claim the land. It wouldnt be long before the colony was complete

OOC: I have expanded to the south of my claim that is too the west of the Island of Rose.

Troops that had pushed the expansion east began expanding south into the unclaimed land south of what is now Vandalia. Troops began also heading from Excelsior on the southern side of Lake Arthur their mission was to expand south and meet up with the Water Coolers Claim to the east of New Panooly. With oil and coal finds in the San Juan Ridge Vandalia now had enough fuel to be self-sufficient. The boom in oil and coal mining led to a huge increase in Concordia's and in respect Vandalia's population. Before the oil finds only 165,000 people lived in Vandalia most along the coast in St. George or Somerset Concordia only had 20,000 people. 5 months after the find [OOC: I am not moving 5 months in advance I am doing this in the form of almost a history textbook. This is in turn saying what will happen in the future. Flame me if you want. I don't care.] the population of Vandalia was 500,000 people. With 135,000 in St. George, 130,000 in Concordia and only 65,000 in Somerset.

OOC: The land that Vandalia is now expanding into is the area to the south of the newly aquired lands halfway between the old claim and Red Tide2's so that we can have a more defensible coast line. We are also expanding south from Lake Arthur aka that big lake in my territory.

“WHAT!?!?!” Izumi Shigi the mayor of First Port was livid. She couldn’t believe it, they’d already started building up the side of the mountain range, and the Nycton government expected, them to stay off their own land?
“This is too much, I need a smoke.” Going over to her desk she fumbled with some drawers until she had drawn out a cart and an ash tray. Pulling a lighter from her drawer as well she began to puff on the fag to get it to light. Once she had a glowing little cherry she ungracefully dropped the lighter in the drawer. Sucking deeply for a moment the cigarette got noticeably smaller as she tapped the ash into the tray. Beginning to pace her high heels measured an even pace, like a grandfather clock, never missing a beat. Pausing to look at the two men occupying the chair infront of her desk she ask in a curt voice.
“What’s the brass’s opinion on this debacle?” The two men looked at each other for a moment before the one in the dark plains clothes suit cleared his throat and spoke up.
“Soon after the declaration Nycton sent an armed team up there. We tracked the teams movement via satellite and if you look at these images I think you’ll see some interesting,… wildlife.” Glossy eight by elevens were passed to the Mayor and she looked at the pictures with great distain.

“Well, we could try to play dumb about the animals and talk to Nycton, but I doubt that will yield results. I think our best bet is to play the assistance card. With our mutual reassurance treaty in effect we can offer our assistance under its provisions. This would allow us to put a team up on the mountain so that we could tag and bag one of our animal friends here” Waiting for what he said to sink in he motioned to the well decorated man sitting beside him.
“I’ve spoken with the admiral here and we’ve secured the transfer of several aircraft and assault vehicles from the mainland. They’re to be stationed at Noviet Forces Base Gagetown, where they’ll be close enough in a pinch but not so close as to raise the tensions with Nycton.” The mayor stopped her clockwork pacing to look at the NNAO agent and take a long thoughtful drag from her cigarette.
“When can we put some people on that mountain?” The NNAO agent cracked a smiled, glad to have his plan have civilian acceptance rather than going around her. The admiral sensing that he’s input was needed spoke up at this point.
“I can have men put up there first thing tomorrow morning.” Looking incredulous Izumi looked over at the admiral,
“Tomorrow morning? I was thinking in a matter of hours.”
“Well, it will be dark soon and I’m not overly keen on putting my boys into a death trap. Tomorrow morning will also see the arrival of some Thunderbolts in theatre so we will be able to make sure our boys aren’t immediately bush whacked like the Nycton boys. Now, so that your both aware I’m going to be having some patrols in the air when we hit the ground so that if Nycton does go hostile we won’t be caught with our pants down.”

The assault the following morning

The Chinooks were escorted to the destination by 3 A-10 Thunderbolts. After numerous sweeps for any large mammals that might even remotely resemble the unknown animals that had attacked here not days ago, or as the soldiers were affectionately calling the beasts the Nycton terrors, the go ahead for the mission was given. Inside the helmets of all the soldiers they could here the words of Colonel Jason Kawa,
“All right boys I will beat your ass in the here after if you make me explain to your family why I lost you here today. Now sand bags out.” With that crates of sand bags dropped from the Chinooks with ropes attached to them. Scaling the 25ft to the top of the crate the Colonel and his first bit of men looked about the clearing using the sophisticated systems within their helmets to isolate unaccounted for noise or heat. Seeing nothing they rolled of the crates and took position while the next group came down. Repeating the process several times a small defensive position was taken up by the men as their comrades still in the choppers began sliding down with equipment for base camp.

OOC: I’ll stop there and let Nycton deicide if he’s terrors are doing anything since I’m not sure if he has a special thing planned for them.

BTW, Nycton do you think the area in question could be right on the border since neither one of us have been up here to measure it down to the metre there could be enough leeway to make this not an international incident. But again if you have something specific planned,…

OOC: I posted that I was colonizing an area in the North between Morathania and Red Tide 2 (pg. 30). The next day, that area was expanded into by Morathania and Red Red Tide 2. I posted a message yesterday asking for my colony (pg. 36). The next map posted showed Morathania's and Red Tide 2's colonies had been scaled back out of the area I had set for colonization, and assumed that this was progress. The latest map has shown they expanded again into the area I was colonizing. Could someone please recongnize my colony? I'd map it, but I don't know how.

OCC: Expanding to the north about 1/8 of an inch. Also, I'm looking for a nation willing to attempt an assasination attemp of the commander, 1st sergeant grim.

IC: Sanctumer has established its capital city right in the middle of the claimed territory as of now. This colony has been declared a state by the Protectorate, for the Protectorate. The capital is known as Grimdon and is the home of 1st Sergeant Grim, who has now been promoted to Sub-Protector Asver Grim.

The soldiers stayed up most of the night, they had found a cliff with low cut fields with a about 100 ft dropoff beside it. They were trapped, but they would know if the creatures were coming. Something was coming...a rata tat tat became louder and louder until a helichopter was flying very close over. It was a Nycton AH-11. The major radio'd in "Need assistance immediatly!" No static came through, just a voice on the other side,
"We have been looking for you the last 2 days. "Where have you been?" The major reassured the Pilot, busy, just get some reinforcments fast PLEASE!" The Pilot affirmed him "There is some Nova Hope troops in the area, we will radio them immediatly-" One of the beast jumped to the helichopter from the side of the cliff under them. The soldiers watched in horror. Some rocks had been falling off the side of the cliff when 3 beast jumped over the side. But how could they scale a 100 foot wall? They all began to run in different directions into the rainforest like jungle.
A large explosion occured behind him. The Ah-11...has gone down...3 soldiers remained. Again..the gunfire has stopped. The last 3 soldiers were bloody, scratched everwhere, overexausted, some parts of articles of clothing gone. A hum of a engine was heard. A Nycton hummer pulled up immediatly and helped them into the vehicle immediatly without a word. They drove to the Nova Hope outpost near, which was basically about packed up. The last helichopter left. "Why are we in such a hurry?" asked the Major. "Their zapping it..." said a guard for the 3 left over troops. 10 minutes later, A SB-1 Super-Sonic bomber, passed the helichopter, and not to long after...a mushroom cloud appeared on the mountian. Red Tides fifth colony had sent out not one but TWO convoys. One west to reach south of the Red Tide/Moranthia border and one south too just expand more in that general direction.

Recently the Protectorate has been low on government budget. We request people to purchase some of our military products if possible to help found our nation. Also, a new production facility of Mechanized Infantry AKA. "Cores", is being built in this state. This would mean that any order received by someone would be able to get there product as soon it has been constructed. Further noting, There has been spotting of creatures looking similar to those described in intercepted transmissions from countries during scoutation monitoring. These creatures are a .4 to .5 Sancts away from our borders. Recently we have captured one after it getting knocked out by a stun grenade from our scouting Mutiny core. The nuclear incident had shocked the Noviet government to the core. It wasn’t but a few hours later that the president once again had his advisors back into his office. With his mouth agape and his eyes scanning across his people for any reaction he held the latest report that had been give to him, this one predicting cancer rates that would appear in the colony as the radioactive ions filtered into the mountain spring water that feed into the colony.
“Well,… I guess first we need to build a larger water treatment plant, something advanced enough to take the carcinogens out of the water.” A older man in an admiral’s uniform nodded his agreement with a slow head bob. The President continued still taking in the faces of his advisors.
“Now can any of you give me a plausible explanation of what might have caused this explosion or should I put on my angry face right now and call Nycton.” A younger man looking to be of Nubian decent spoke up speaking guardedly, perhaps knowing that they didn’t believe that what he was going to be said. Knowing that someone had to speak the obvious he spoke in a guarded voice,
“Perhaps what they say is true? There really was an accident and this is all an unfortunate mistake.” The President snorted at this. Looking down his nose at the suggestion he spoke with a bit of whimsical chuckle, as if he was trying not to laugh in the young man’s face.
“And what were they doing? Transporting a running nuclear reactor? An armed nuclear weapon? What? A concussive blow can not split an atom, which means that the device needed to be primed just before impact, which brings us back to human intent.” The President left the words unsaid after that, they all knew what had happened but non of them wanted to be in this position.
“We can’t call them liars, we have no proof.” At that the President smiled,
“We can ask them for proof. Cargo transcripts, flight plan, crew manifests if they have a black box I’d like to see it. After we have the evidence that they will feed us we can demand that they enact certain safety protocols, when they refuse as we know they will, we need to ban Nyctonian aircraft from our air, their ships from our ports and they vehicles from our roads. We’ll then start to ask others to do the same. Perhaps then Nycton will come clean, or be irrelevant enough to work around.” They all shook their heads in agreement and began to craft the official response.

Recent research into unknown creature captured during scouting

"I'm surpirsed this creature was even caught. It would seem that the stun gas wouldn't be able to enter anywhere. It looks like it has no form of getting to its brain." said Elmagar during his thorough little butchtering of the creature.

"Well Elmagar, the creature does have eyes, it is possible that the gas possibly somehow leeched in through the eye areas"

"How? There seems to be no way, unless the eyes absorbed the gas. That would explain it."

"Thats what I meant. Are you sure this creature isn't alive?"

"Yes dear Ger, it is dead, there is no vitals. Besides, it radiates no heat."

During more research, the two scientists discover it was a genetically altered creature, originally a Wolverine. After about two more hours, unbeknownst to the Ger and Elmagar (they were on lunch break), the creatures cuts from Elmagar started to heal. The scientists arrived back into the lab, to consider what the potential threat of this item was. When they got back, it was gone.

"You said it was dead!"

"It had no vitals! I thought it would operate like a regulare human and be dead!"

Just then, the creature jumps down from the ceiling and slaughters the two scientists, happily ripping off the meat from their bones. Luckily, the room is boxed in with Lorthium, so as to prevent it escaping.

OOC: (This is RomeW...this is just another nation that I run (it is NOT a puppet of RomeW). This nation has had a claim on Manium for several days now but I've never had a chance to RP it. If no one thinks it's unfair, I've added two small new claims because the nation has been there for a while).

IC: As soon as he heard the news, BitingRealitan Emperor Ducalion I was overjoyed. A new continent, a whole new world away...yet another continent to conquer. The BitingRealitans were going to have their voices heard on the world stage, and heard loudly.

After several delays (mostly bureaucractic), the expeditiary force finally left the capital of Pirus about a week ago for Manium. After scouting much of the continent, the BitingRealitan force finally settled on an area close to Romanus Eropidus, the colony of one-time rivals RomeW, because there was a reported gold field nearby. The head of the force, Pete Crosby, told his men after settling in, "Today starts a new era in BitingRealitan history. One where the world finally knows who we are."

Our question to you would be - create new land where? There is a great abundance of land on this planet, and converting ocean to land would mean less naval movement. Or were you planning to create planetoids - which would lead to even more questions.

Spankstonia would like to expand further to the east along the coast where we would like to build Spankstonian Hotels and Suites so That all may enjoy the the Beach and outdoors. At this moment A Fleet Of 100 Fishing Vessels is enroute to the Colony from the mother land of Spankstonia, in order to help feed the peoples of the colony.

The Emperor of Transdormania wishes to send a small contingent of military forces (one infantry brigade and a tactical fighter squadron) to this new continent along with several scientists so as to further explore this new land.

IC: Construction of all major military facilites have been completed. Now, over 500 000 civilains live on the island. Plans have been made for the legal change of the colony's status from an military territory to a state of Raginsheep proper.

I'd like to claim a bit of land on the Western inland part of the island. As for getting there, I'm allies with some people on the island, so perhaps a right of passage would be acceptable?

It was now January and it was election time in the colony. A census of all people in the colony now shows that it has a population of 673,000 most consentrated in the St. George, Somerset, Concordia, Kennecot region in the west. Now as election day drew to a close a definite front runner arose. Robert Menzies, the former military head of the colony, had a commanding 56% lead while his closest opponent, Alfred Dunigen of the Libertarian Party, had only gotten 32% of the vote. When the votes were counted and the results varified the winner was Robert Menzies. The official results were:

IC: The colonization of Romanus Eropidus was going well. In a year and a half, the colony had grown to a population of 25 million people, with some 60% of that being Manium natives. The capital at Caesaria-Manium was a bustling metropolis, with the Ampitheatrium Manium drawing thousands each day with its festivals, games and nightlife activities. The colony became self-sufficient, especially after the foundation of extensive marble industries to the west of the colony and the discovery of copper in the south-central region.

With the colony's success, rumblings began emerging of breaking away from Rome and forming their own independent nation. The colony intended on still being close allies to Rome, but the colonists wondered how they would fare by themselves. With the Romani-Eropidi set to vote for their new governor soon, the issue could only grow in time.

I hope this letter reaches you in good health, I have to apologize for the crude method of communication as the colonial network has been all but reliable. I just wanted to write to you that everything is fine here, in fact last night the city celebrated it’s 100,000 citizen. It was quite a site, the boardwalk was completed and opened for the occasion, its all really quite spectacular. Looking across the river we could see the Roman settler’s had their lights on, I must say it all looked quite inviting.

Now I know your probably wondering, no I was no where near the Nycton incident and thankfully neither was any of the people we know. I’ve caught a few broadcasts of the line, it was as bad as all that, but I must admit the Nyctonian’s aren’t being overly friendly about it.

I must tell you about our new waterfront! Oh its beautiful! The thing that I cannot get use to, even still, is how clear aqua marine green the seaway is. There is no natural body of water at home this clean, how can it be with the smog? What’s better is that I’m eating fresh food! The fields here take nicely, even without genetic alterations crops like wheat, corn, potatoes all of it. They’re sprouting in an abundance I’ve never seen. I think you’ll be happy to know that our produce will be exported back to the mother country within the month, you should get at least some of the produce, it’s much better than any of our domestic stuff.

A bullet train line has been set up from here to the newly founded cities to the south of here, also on the seaway. All told there are now three distinct municipalities along the seaway, each with their own burgeoning economies and identities. It’s really quite interesting, everyone here is much more friendly than back at home. I walk down the street and sometimes I don’t even bother bringing my gun.

Anyway I hope I get to see you face to face when the lines are back up.

The colony received an imperial ‘adiutor vindiciae consultum’ effeictly naming the colony officially. The Emperor has decided that the colonies full name shall now be The Colony of Water Cooler Magnificus. It is expected that within a month all official documentation and maps will be updated to show the titular change.

In response to the news, a massive celebration was held in the capital of Water Cooler Magnificus’s recently completed capital city, Port Colonia.

Construction of three satellite cities has started, and is expected to be finished sometime next year.

The colony is now 95% independent, and it shall be fully dependent within a month. The special tax created to fund the colony has now been absorbed into the regular taxes.

The first plane flew out of Port Colonia airport in the late hours of yesterday night.

The Economy of WCM is booming, and many Water Coolian Citizens are seeking jobs at the new colony.

The Defence Program has finished with a massive cannon being constructed deep within the mountain range that bisects the Colony. The Canon is capable of firing at any threat that encroaches the border. Border Guards have been setup to ensure absolute security and so far no incursions have occurred.

Botanists report the discovery of over 200 new species of plants, it is said to be one of the biggest botanical fines of the century.

Population 110,000 (11% WCM Born, 89% HEWC Settlers)
Military Population: Classified. For security reason this statistic shall now no longer be included in the status report. However be advised that the colony is more then prepared to defend any and all attacks.

The first dies because the people do not understand their environment. This is particularly true if the area they are in is significantly different from the area they started in. Remember, we're talking civilians, not trained military. Then again, even trained military die when training in Austrailia suddenly...

The second survives because they learned from the mistakes, and are now able to adapt... some. There are still problems, and usually at this phase, a colony can survive, but cannot manage to export much because what it is creating is being used for infrastructure.

The third thrives as it is built on the bones of the first and the sweat of the second. At this point, many of the problems of colonialism have been figured out, and the land is "native" to a good enough number of the population to make permanent settling performable.

I understand many making multi-thousand colonies, but I would ask you - how are you supplying these people?? What are they eating, drinking, what do they do daily? A service based economy is nearly impossible in a new colony, there isn't the economy to support it. Austrailia was a penal colony to start, because conditions were that bad, because the land was that strange. Even free land offerings didn't make it easier to settle in Texas if you were used to New England winters - and summers.

Hi there, kiwipeso would like to claim an area of at least 25 square km of seaside land for the purposes of building a spaceport facility to assist our crowded nation reach for for the stars.
We are a friendly nation which serves as delegate for the New Zealand region and have identified 3 major areas of interest available.
1: between kleptonis and biting reality.
2: between sarzonia and spankstonia.
3: between vistadin and zaktar earth colony.

Alternatively if none of those locations has 25 km available, I would like to see my nation take a claim between raginsheep and transdormania.

Hi there, kiwipeso would like to have a go at this one time chance for a overseas spaceport (think French Guiana near Brasil) so that our overcrowded nation can get our aerospace industry off the ground.
we need 25 km, with a seaside area for shipping and safety in case of splashdown.

Captain James Selby of the Government Research Ship "Persephone" held his head in his hands. The last day's events had all rushed by so fast, it was hard to understand why it all went wrong. There had been his mission, to investigate currents and weather systems, and their effect on the area under sea. The mission had been perfectly simple. Everything had been fine.

Then one day, there had been a colossal storm, as a result of the temperate drifts moving northwards, away from his ship. The ship had been blown miles off course, and had taken some non-critical damage. They had thought that it had all finished....the ship could return for repairs and the storm would be a memory. But then, it got worse. Some of the damage the ship took had effected the ship's systems. Capacitors had blown, systems had suffered, and consequently, a large amount of the ship's systems had winked out of existence. GPS, cruise control systems, they had all died. Long-range communications had survived, but it continually fail to recieve signal. The ship could still move, but it didn't know where it was going. The only indication was the compass direction. Following that, a thick pea-soup fog had descended over the sea. The ship was utterly, utterly lost.

After a week's desolate wanderings in a North-Eastern direction, the ship finally sighted land. None of the crew recognised the coastline, but that hardly meant anything, with the world the size that it was. Anchoring the ship a mile from the coast-line, Selby ordered one last-ditch attempt to radio Falastur.

"This is the Falasturian Government Research Ship "Persephone" calling the Falasturian Admiralty. We are lost and in need of rescue. We have located an as-yet unknown coastline, which we have anchored near. Our navigational equipment is dead, unfixable. We are requesting ourlocation, and an escort home."

There was a long wait. Noone really expected a signal to be made. Selby notably jumped when the comms set bleeped, indicating a return message.

"Persephone", we have pinpointed your position from your communications......"

The crew almost jumped for joy.

"....We are sending an escort to take you home. However, we are most intrigued by the landmass you have located. We are showing no records of the area. This discovery may be of great value to his Imperial Majesy's Government.

In only a matter of days, the ship was being escorted home. In its place now lay several Government vessels designed for studying geographical locations, and two construction ships, which had created a scientific outpost on the shore.

The extent to which the British where unprepared for Australia was hilarious, I dare say that lacked such modern convinces as satellite imagery, geological and climatological surveys, etc etc that we have.

They're eating food they grow and that which is shipped in. They drink purified water from the river and sea. They work building the colony, farming, running shops etc or they work at the massive shipyard complex.

IC:

A year passed (this is since my last post, so quite a way) and Neo-Praetonia thrived. fortifications were becoming less and less neccessary as the border garrison with Bonstock was slowly reduced and the bounds of the colony shifted outwards. Ten Colonial Guard Divisions were raised, numbering a total of 220,000 men and women. The colony was almost self-sufficient as the farms that had been consustucted incredibly quicklly from pre-fab materials delivered their first harvest.

The election went off well, with only 3% of the population voting for the Independance Party, and the first Minister for Neo-Praetonia was sent to the Houses of Parliament almost immediately. Neo-Praetonia's economy is growing also, and the colonial authorities are slowly taking over the maintenance costs of their own military equipment and supplies. 5% of the colony's national budget was sent to mainland Praetonia. The first year and a half of the colony had passed and it was already a thriving province.

That's relative though because the richer a country is the greater responsibilities it has. More roads, more services, more salaries to pay and more costs arise. ex. With Urbanization continuing allong current trends you'd need to pay for pollution scrubers to deal with the excesses.

Ergo, five percent of a colony production would be nothing to you - and you'd still be sending over oodles of supplies to keep them alive and going.

Law of Diminishing Returns applies here... plus additional waste and corruption, as the bigger you get, the more cracks, and the more rats get in. Even if they have to be Stainless Steel Rats.

kiwipeso launches it's fleet of construction ships, seeking to create it's new spaceport in the bushy backwater area. As long as there is enough room for a small city to service the spaceport which will be built as close to the sea as possible, the people of kiwipeso will be happy.

I'm suggesting 1 square km per pixel if you haven't decided yet.
This would favor both the small claims and the large early claims.

The Oberon sailed gleefully in the oceans far west of the Crown Empire and Dominion. On board this gigantic cruise ship were 2,809 guests, 377 Crewmen, and one captain: Captain Richard Greenbane. Richard was a silent man of 44 years of age. His chestnut brown hair was peppered with grey strands and for the most part stayed hidden under his cap. His beard was thick yet trimmed neatly. The Oberon was a cruise ship in the Metakian Royal Cruises fleet that offered sightseeing for citizens of Magnus Valerius throughout several destinations in the world, including the Empire of the Shield, Japan, Ohtosk, and the Pacific Islands.

Below deck, however, was a sign of shoddy maintenance to earn a larger profit on the corporation's part. The boilers rattled and vented their fury, and pressure was gaining underneath the steel contraptions that powered the cruise ship forward. Thus, it alarmed a young hand: Thomas Grigorsky. He knew that maybe it was time to ready the life boats.

He made his way to his captain, whom was glancing over the waves. "Captain! One of the boilers is about to burst! I think we need to ready our lifeboats right NOW!" The captain was aback and nodded without a word. Immediately, every crew member was rushing to ready the lifeboats without telling the guests as to cause a commotion that would mean unneccessary death. After everything was set, all of the guests were arranged in the party hall where huge glass windows peered off on either side into the ocean.

"Ladies and Gentlemen," Captain Greenbane announced, "Due to a slightly unexpected problem, we must eva..."

An explosion shook the ship. The lighting went out in the room. However, a pillar of flame erupting from one of the smoke stacks lit the room, to everyone's horror. Every man, woman and child on deck made bee lines towards the life rafts and then disembarked from the sinking Oberon. However, the currents in this part of the ocean provided for unpredictable travel. As the majority of the people were taken on a current that would take them back to Magnus Valerius, 452 persons were picked up on a current that led away from their homeland. These rafts included Captain Greenbane, Grigorisky, and a pompous woman by the name of Adriana Glentana. "Well, I've never!" she said in her naturally uptight fashion as all of these people sailed away to somewhere they'd never imagine heading towards.

At the crack of dawn on the next day, the rafts and the wreckage and supplies from the Oberon that drifted with the rafts approached a new continent. Grigorisky was the first to awake. His face broke into an ecstatic smile as he aroused Captain Greenbane and Adriana from their sleep. "Land! Captain, land! We are saved!" Everyone in the rafts cheered as they approached the northeastern shore an island that seemed to lay south of a larger land mass in the northern horizon.

The 452 people made it ashore at lunch. The captain fell on his knees as he gazed upon a snow-capped peak that lied perhaps only half a mile from shore. This was a new land... one they'd never seen before. The stranded quickly gathered all of the supplies that had drifted with them from the shallows and opened them up. Luckily, there was plenty of food and water... to last two days. There was also a radio, which the captain eagerly set up.

POINT BRAGG, MAGNUS VALERIUS

A couple of officers lazily napped in their office of radio and transmissions in the Imperial Naval Base of Point Bragg. Magnus Valerius has not entered a conflict in a long while, so the inexperience of the troops in the military tended to shine through the honor of the institution. They awoke to a surprising message. "NEW LAND!" shouted the captain through the fuzzy transmission. "WE HAVE FOUND LAND! This is the captain of the Oberon... the ship sank, but some of us survived and have landed on a continent somewhere west of Magnus Valerius. Please send supply ships, troops, and laborers, if the emperor allows it!"

The two men looked at each other, puzzled. But, they radioed into the emperor's office. He approved the expedition, and within a day, several ships loaded with several months of supplies, 1,000 troops, and 2,552 settlers shipped off into the horizon. Upon their arrival at the same beach the stranded discovered earlier, they found little trace of the people. Upon further inspection, they found that all but three people had died under an attack from natives and from lack of water. The survivors: Captain Greenbane, Grigorisky, and Glentana.

The settlers got to work burying the dead and constructing a settlement. The soldiers got to work building a makeshift fort of wood and brick. Armed explorers went out to seek resources that may be of value on this new settlement.

Within a couple of weeks, an additional 400 troops and 1,316 settlers arrived in the colony. The colony was unofficially called "Shorehaven", with its colonial capital, New Batavia, and Fort Phillip III a threshold upon a new environment. A few botanists and zoologists have also arrived to document the horde of new species that are on the section of the island.

VALERIUS PRIME, MAGNUS VALERIUS

Emperor Alexander II was thrilled with the status of the colony. All native attacks have been thwarted and New Batavia grows with the influx of new colonials. It was time that he made the claim official.

To Emperor Paul XII of Rome,

I have settled part of the northeastern island in the new continent of Manium. I would request that my empire shall be granted a claim in the colony. The colony is called Shorehaven... I hope you validate my claim.

“Yes, enter”. Exigencies of the colony had removed most etiquette from the troops still on ground.
“Sir, the Thallosian engineers have arrived”.
He did not look up from his reports. “Good. Put them up in the reinforced compound and extend to them every courtesy. Assign sixth engineer battalion to their aid in whatever form the Thallosian’s need”.
“Yes, sir!” The man bowed and left.

Shamshan considered the reports in front of him. The death rate was down from the horrific 58% in their first year to a much more manageable 8% so far this year. A good portion of this had been the influx of UN WHO documentation on the climate and what to expect – reptiles had been something of a new thing – but a better portion was their native population, ex-refugees who were now citizens. That had been an interesting event.

At first, the tribes had wanted to fight back, to attack those who were swarming their native lands. He had shrugged, and asked the assembled chiefs – probably the first time they had not been fighting in years – if they wished to see what they were up against. He added it would take a trip to their homeland, but he would assure their safety, and they would be returned in less then two hands of days.

Of the twelve, nine had agreed. It had been only two days to arrange transportation and a… demonstration.

None of the nine were prepared for the bitter cold of Antarctic weather; General Sola had seen to that consideration with warm burnooses and pocket heaters of an older style – the more impressive charcoal heating versions, using glass fiber instead of the more modern pellet-gas versions, which did their job quietly.

The nine chiefs were taken to the far south, to a testing bunker. Five hundred yards from the bunker, an old T-72 tank was placed. After a short discussion by the General about what a tank was, and what it was capable of, the chiefs were taken to the tank by heated PolarBear, and allowed to do their worst to it.

There was, of course, no effect.

As they completed their works, the General put on a wonderful drama, explaining how inferior Vastivan weaponry was to the other countries that had put down colonies, and how ashamed she was that she could only give this small demonstration which might not be sufficient to display what they were up against.

At that, the entire group was driven back to the bunker and the circling C-71 instructed to begin its attack run. Binoculars were handed to each of the chiefs to view the display. And medics were put on alert in the next room once the fireteam above announced lock on the tank with the bunker’s laser target designator.

As a corporal gave a preplanned speech about how important it was to watch the tank through the binoculars in order to not miss anything and to leave their mouths open – which would of course be ignored by the “brave few” - the General and her staff were each given pairs with blinders inside and a small pair of decible-zero earplugs, completely blocking out what was to come next.

High above, the C-71 dropped its payload – a single free flight laser guided bomb, just over 65,000 lbs. The sensors in the nose picked up the blazing laser point, and turned itself towards the dumb target below. This took a few seconds – the bomb itself was the size of a school bus, made of cellulose cells holding gelled octol produced by hyper freezing. The outside was a more rigid cellulose shell – in total, the MOAB-II had only the metal of the fins and the guidance system to show up on radar.

The main of many problems in the design was its size. But in this case, it was an advantage.

The full fall of the bomb took just over twelve seconds; on impact, the explosion sent out a wave of force blasting snow over the bunker like a tidal wave. The flash and resultant fireball reached almost to the bunker, cooking snow into steam almost instantly. The ground cratered, buckled, and burned.

There was nothing left of the T-72.

Of the nine chiefs, seven had been blinded by the blast – three would never regain sight. One had suffered complete CNS collapse from the sound, all nine had severe ringing in their ears.

The General gave a wonderful performance again, this time as the concerned host. Medics swiftly attended to the blindness and deafness, occasionally making usage of fast acting tranquilizers.

The two chiefs who were still somewhat upright were taken to the blast site – a hole in the tundra, the sides burned and melted, still retaining scalding heat.


That was what had been. At the words and experiences of the returning chiefs – one a gibbering fool, one now blind and deaf, two others blinded by the flash – the Vastivan colony had completely snuffed out resistance to their “protection”; the numbers of natives now residing in the colony had blossomed as word of the fearsome weaponry of the natives passed around the island, accompanied by word of the Vastivan’s offer of sanctuary. Now, Sisu Arshu was a burgeoning colony, self-sufficient due to vast tracts of native crops and native know-how on local fishing.

A small but significant fishing fleet insured additional supplies were always available – this place saw no “winter”, allowing longer crop seasons, an idea known on paper but which took time to accept in the real world. Each and every member of the troops had had to get used to day and night being relatively unchanging – and psychologists were a good sum of the colony presence even today.

Shamshan took a deep breath and lifted the phone. Lunch today – perhaps more of that good fish with mango sauce…

Dear President here is the annual status report for the Colony of Vandalia as you requested.

In St. George the permanent Parliament building is almost completed as is the official governors residence. St. George itself is achieving fantastic growth. It has already spawned over 10 suburbs around the city. Currently population of St. George is 125,000 people and growing. The St. George International Airport has been operational for 4 months and has been has been ranked one of the top 25 airports in the World by Conde Nast Travel.

Concordia has grown to become the second largest city in Vandalia and may soon become larger than St. George. It has attained tremendous growth due to the Recent oil boom in the Coastal Ranges and the San Juan Ridge. The new Central Vandalia/Concordia International has become the busiest airport in Vandalia. Current population 105,000.

Somerset has gone from being the second city to the third city as population has shifted inland. The newly completed Northwestern Vandalia Regional Airport has opened up this region to new immigrants. Several major banks and mutual fund companies have opened up in Somerset due to low taxes in the city for the financial industry. Current population 84,000.

Kennecot is the second largest inland city and is fourth largest in Vandalia. Major port facilities have been completed and the construction of the new airport should begin shortly. This will make Kennecot our major seaport on the west coast. Current population 62,000.

Richmond on the southern coast of the lake has become a major rural services centre for the Southern Lake District. A small airport has opened,
Richmond Regional, and a major supermarket chain has recently made Richmond their corporate headquaters. Also tourism revolving around Lake Arthur have made Richmond a major vacation destination during the summer and fall months. A flourishing winery industry has begun in the Henderson Valley 45 miles south of Richmond. Current population 58,000.

New Hamilton has become a tertiary northern port and the capital of the Eastern Districts. Home to a major college. It has had trouble attracting settlers to the region. Fishing, mining and tree-cutting have become the major industries in and around New Hamilton. Current population 45,000.

Current population of Vandalia is 789,000. 60.7% Urban 40.3% Rural.

The economy is doing well also. Oil, Finance, Mining, Electronics, and Light Manufacturing are the base of the economy along with Fishing, Lumber and Agriculture. Wine is a major export of the newly aquired Southern Regions. Currently the GDP per capita of Vandalia is about M$ 23,465 or US$ 20,034. Unemployment is low at 5.25% of the total workforce.

After neglecting our colony for so long, we have finally got over other problems and are looking to put more government activity in the colony here.

I'm going to develop my three colonial characters here, and develop the environment to some degree.

IC:

New Batavia in its fifth week of existance had grown to a population of 8,952 people. The colonists keep on pouring in by the dozens under the conditions that they would not have to pay Imperial taxes for an entire year. The colonists were also granted some money to settle the land as well. A church sprung up in New Batavia, and vast fields of growing crops stretch outwards with homesteads dotting the landscape.

New Batavia apparently had a nice temperate climate with soft breezes and rains blowing in from the sea often. It was perfect for many crops, which the settlers quickly began to grow in the fertile lands of this small area scouted and settled.

At the head of the colonial government is the former Captain Theodore Greenbane. After getting to know Lady Adriana Glentana for several weeks, he had become her lover. Greenbane was only de facto colonial governor; there had been no Imperial appointments yet. However, all colonists put their faith in him. On a particularly warm day, Greenbane was resting in his library that was filling to the brim with books imported from the Empire.

Adriana smiled as she entered the room from behind a cherrywood door. She had a seductive red dress donned on, and her pouty lips had glossy cherry color painted on them. Her black hair was loose and let down; after meeting Theodore, she had become a lot less snobby and more open and charming. Theodore returned Adriana's smile as he approached her. Her blue eyes stared into his brown eyes.

"Theodore..." she whispered softly as he held her in his arms. They sat on a small couch that faced towards a large glass window. Their home was on a small hill in New Batavia, so the window overlooked the town and the vast ocean out from it.

Thomas Grigorisky was not only a deck hand. He had experience in botany; he accepted the Imperial request for him to be one of the major botanists to document the new plant life with great pleasure. Thomas's blonde hair fluttered about in a gust as he sat beneath a tree on the outskirts of New Batavia. His horse was off grazing on some grass; horses were a major part of the colony so far because the roads of New Batavia weren't paved. That would mean havoc for motor cars.

As Thomas was busy writing a report on some new edible fruit trees he had discovered, a squirrel climbed down from a tree and sniffed about. Near Thomas were some Venus fly trap-looking plants, yet they were much larger. As the squirrel curiously approached the plant for the wondrous nutty fragrance it seemed to have been emitting, little did it know the danger of the plant. The squirrel stepped into the fleshy red center when the trap closed upon itself. The squirrel shrieked and fought for its life for half a minute before it became tired and was killed by the acid being pumped into the enclosure.

"Hmm..." Thomas mumbled to himself as he watched the spectacle. "Looks like a new species.... I know! I'll call it the Venus Squirrel Trap!"

Magnius Valerius, technically speaking, the Roman government doesn't run the contient- the Romans just discovered it. I- the person who runs the "RomeW" accound- runs the RP, but the IC nation does not.

As for how big 1 pixel should be- I'm not sure. I made the continent five times the size of Africa and Eurasia combined, so I'm not sure what that translates to in terms of pixels. Any math majors know how big that would be?

RomeW, I would like to expand the colony much more and fill out a lot more of what the Valerian emperor wishes to fully claim. I assume I can work my way to that goal, since it's been over a RL day since I entered the scene. The desired area was posted earlier in an attachment. :)

IC:

Explorers plotted out more of the land from beyond New Batavia. Along the northern shores near the Raginsheep colony border, a tribe whom the explorers have documented as the Augustans have been discovered. However, this violent tribe soon forced the explorers to return to New Batavia. More explorers began to head further south into the thick jungles that were home to a currently unnamed and peaceful tribe. Further west on the steppes were Uighors, a nomadic clan of horsemen. And finally, a tribe named the Dancing Bear Tribe (named after their ritual in which they find a bear and enslave it as a Dancing Bear) exists on the southern areas of the explored region by the New Batavian explorers.

Two new settlements, Northrop and New Alexandria, have been founded on the outer reaches of the Shorehaven colony. Each new township have 500 settlers each.

Medical Examiner’s Report: John Doe # 1326 has been identified as Edward Smith

Subject Edward Smith age 32 Male. Recent arrival to the colony Smith was found dead in the dock areas of Port Hokkaido.* Cause of death unknown, but it has been determined that he did not drown. The subject’s internal organs have suffered degradation at the cellular level and some failed before subject’s death. List of failed organs include pancreas, liver and left kidney. Blood loss has been recorded and I am willing to submit my opinion that this person died of the same cause that has been plague the tri-city area.** This is based on the lesions that have developed on the skin, the redness in the eyes and the swelling in the throat. I’d like to take this time to recommend once again we release a health warning to the citizens to be aware of these symptoms. The medical report continues with the doctor listing the trivial details of the physiology of the exact individual.


Two days later in St. Maximus General Hospital

It was an odd sight to see, but lately it was happening more and more. A patient rushed in from off the street straight into the OR who was bleeding from his eyes, mouth, nose, anus, finger and toe nails. The patient, a woman in her thirties, was practically thrown into a stretcher and rushed in, no questions asked. The doctors were getting more and more nervous about this because it was getting to be almost a case a day and they couldn’t do anything except make them comfortable.

There was an audible *pop* as the corporal vacated the Colonel's presence.

Magnus Valerius, I am aware of the claim that you wanted, but it was too big for one RL day. The maximum allowable gain in one RL day is 1225 pixels- there's boxes and rectangles at the bottom-left corner that outline this.

Oh, and I have created a new state- the state of Manium. It's essentially a Roman protectorate that will become independent. Romanus Eropidus was run jointly by the Romans and the natives of Manium, so Rome has given the natives their own state. That is what I'll RP now.

Eventually, news reached Roman Emperor Paul XII that Romanus Eropidus was considering independence from the Roman state. Paul wasn't interested in getting in the colony's way, and even went a step further. He wanted to create a state for the natives, who were so helpful to the Romans.

The governor of Romanus Eropidus, Giorgius Redomius, fully embraced Paul's plan. He ordered a contingent of Roman troops northward to help create a Manium state, eventually coming across a large stretch of land that was perfect for farming. The Manium tribes, he found, were excellent farmers, which greatly helped the Roman colony prosper and make use of the land, so the land the Romans acquired for them would make a perfect fit. Officially, the new state of Manium would be a Roman protectorate for two years, during which Roman-monitored elections will take place and Rome will train the natives on how to run the state. The process could take longer or shorter- it will be up to the natives to decide if they still need Rome's help.

Major Hawthorne looked up. "He's asleep, Corporal."
"Yes, Sir, sorry, Sir, but..."
She shook her head. "No, Corporal, he's asleep. Report."
The corporal stiffened into attention. "Yes, sir. The expedition on the southern island reports they've taken several acres of fruit trees along with the beachfront property".
"Good. Tell them to stop".
"Stop, sir?"
"Yes, stop. The Sultan wanted a beach for a resort, he's got one. He wanted fruit trees, he's got them. Now they can stop and build the resort and the surrounding colony, and be done with it".
"Yes, sir!"

It seems that the Augustan tribes were very angered at the establishment of a new Valerian settlement at Northrop. Scouts have reported that there is a lot of activity in the native lands in the Augustan Forests, perhaps a prelude to an assault of Fort Phillip III or even Northrop. Northrop was a vulnerable point, as it was a young town. However, there are wooden and brick ramparts that are being hastily constructed to help protect the town from any native attack.

New Batavia, meanwhile, flourished as agriculture expanded. Roads are being paved and a seaport is under construction. Tea has reportedly been able to flourish on the island, and now fields around the city were also seeing tea plants as well. The first cash crop industry of the colony is born.

Thomas Grigorisky was enjoying french toast with some native berries: Havenberries as he had named them. These succulent berries were sweet and had a very light vanilla flavor along with their berry taste. They were also a few millimeters larger than the average blueberry. As Thomas was busy reading The Valerian Voice to see what's going on back in the home country, a fellow botanist barged in. Sheila Sariph smiled as she sat down to enjoy a breakfast with Thomas. They discussed the over 68 species they had so far discovered along with three other botanists. There was bound to be many more species of plantlife in the jungles, but they weren't so sure if they could go there without being killed by natives.

Is Mania located in any relation with the RL or Earth II-III or any Earth map continents? Like what ocean is it in if it is? Because I just need a basic knowledge of its location. Like which ocean, and if its north or south of the equator and such... for RP purposes.

OOC: RomeW I didn't expand this map. I said that I wanted connect those two areas in the south by the Water Cooler's claim and Halibris's claim. You had no expansion for me this map.

OOC: I did expand you south of the lake, and I know you did want to connect the two points and just fill it in, but the claim would have been too big and I didn't want people to complain that I was giving you all this land and I didn't give them any. Anyway, this is what I'll do: I'll retract the claim I made and connect those two points but I won't fill in the area (which could be filled in two days- tonight's update and tommorow's). However, since I don't want to take this too seriously, if people don't mind that it gets filled in I'll just do that anyway tonight.

OOC: RomeW just connect the two spits of land going south tonight and then just continue to fill them in through the other updates. After your done filling up that area in between the two spits, probably tomarrow or the day after, then start me expanding east along Halibris's northern border.

5:00 A.M. at Fort Phillip III. The sun crept over the eastern horizon as the sentry shifts changed. The majority of the men manning the fortress were asleep in the barracks. 5% of the cannons were manned at this time. At 5:30, the fortress will become active.

In the dank forests that lie a few miles away from the forest lie an army of Augustans. These fierce natives have achieved an Iron Age level of technology. Their iron armor glistened in the little amount of sunlight there was, and they were building a fortified encampment to wait for the siege weapons to be completed. Then, they will assault the fort, and try to kill as many "barbarians" as they can.

Doctor Raymond Mackenzie looked at Governor Izumi Shigi. The doctor had become something of an expert on the new disease that had appeared in the tri-city area and what he was reporting now worried the governor. Finishing up the report he turned off the laser pointer and the projector.
“So that’s about it, we have an Ebola variant of some kind in our colonies.” The governor looked at him, dismayed at what he was hearing.
“Are you sure? It can’t be anything else?”
“It is possible it’s a completely new disease that’s we’ve never seen before but the RNA analysis shows too many similarities to Ebola to be much else. If its not Ebola then it’s a distant cousin.” Clearing his throat the doctor reached for his water, paranoia kicked in and his hand fell to his side. Seeing a diplomatic package on the governor’s desk he smiled,
“Have the Vastivians shed any new light on the situation?” The governor shook his head.
“They’re keeping tight lipped, a ‘I’ll show you mine if you show me yours’ kind of policy.” The doctor laughed,
“That’s great I’ll prepare a formal presentation on what we’ve discovered so far. I think so of the Vastivian scientists would be very interested to see this new,…” The Governor gave a vigorous head shake from side to side interrupting the doctor.
“You’ll do no such thing. We are going to keep a lid on this for as long as possible, as it is I’ve had to call in some favors with some people in the know and gotten them to keep their trap shut. Until you have some good news we will not be releasing the bad.” The doctor looks astounded.
“But if we release our information now lives might be saved, perhaps there are some out there who have more information on this! For all we know this might the flu of this continent and we’re not alone and” The governor made a violent hand motion in front of his throat,

It had been a year since the terrible crash of the SCS Zarium, and the fallout of the impact had started to show, the shield around the area was starting to fade away. It wouldn't be long before the energy would spread to Zalrium and consume the city. Though there where plans to stop the spreading of the energy, it was a short term solution. The plan was to setup a containment field around the energy that would keep the energy at bay. To achieve their goal they would need all the cloak generator's power to keep the containment field at 100%, but the energy of the generator's would only last 4 years.... Though help was on its way, it would take them 5 year's to get here

The next week, 4:30 a.m. The Augustan soldiers began to march towards Fort Phillip III. It was 10,000 Iron Age tech soldiers versus 5,700 Valerians armed with 20 calibur, 12-round bolt-action rifles. But, of course, the majority of the Valerians were still asleep. It was well before wake-up call and the colonists will receive a really bad one today, as a matter of fact. The Augustan siege artillery launched their stones at the brick and stone fortress that lay uphill.

Soldiers in Barracks 14 got a rude awakening... if they had survived the massive boulder that landed on their building. The war drums pounded and trumpets brayed as Valerians in the fort immediately scrambled to fight off the invaders. The cannons were manned, and fired immediately at the siege weapons. The catapults and trebuchets employed by the Augustans immediately create a breach in the wall, in which the Augustan infantry and cavalry ran towards. Their archers let lose a hail of arrows, killing 54 Valerians, but the Valerians began shooting with their guns, picking off 502 Augustans. The only machine gun in the fort decimated the 2,000 Augustan cavalry in seconds, leaving them dead or dying on the field; the machine gun jammed afterwards, leaving it useless. The other Augustans lucky enough to make it to the breach engaged the Valerians. However, Valerians were proud swordfighters, even with their advanced technology.

Speaking of advanced technology, their swords were of the highest grade of steel available to the Empire, and they were deadly killing machines with their Valerian Sabers. Valerians Sabers and Kopises, the two common swords, were as light and deadly as katanas used by Japanese samurai, and were of the same, if not better, quality as katanas as well, with hundreds of folds in each blade's steel.

The infantry of the colonists and the natives clashed for several minutes. Gunners from atop the walls continued to fire hails of bullets into the archer ranks. Soon the Augustan archers broke formation and fled, while the infantry were slaughtered at the breach by Valerian swordplay. A river of blood began to flow from the side of the hill where these hapless souls were... and they soon fled.

In all, out of the 5,700 Valerians, 998 died. The Augustans lost 4,318 men. This will not be the last conflict between The Crown Empire and the Kingdom of Augusta. The natives will be back to avenge their dead.

Since there isn't a lot of space left, I've decided that after Sunday night Manium will be closed to newcomers (that is when I will give up the island to you, Raginsheep, Transdormania and Magnus Valerius exclusively). So if there's anyone left who wants to join you have do so as soon as you can.

The BitingRealitan camp was silent for some time. They did move into a position along the southeastern coast of Manium and south along the border of Romanus Eropidus, but they longed to move west. Rumors of a gold field sparked the interest of the BitingRealitans, who were eager to land some booty of their own.

They began militarizing their western border of their northern colony in large numbers, setting up a base 50km from the border. A force of 10,000 soldiers, 20 M1 Abrams MBT's and 5 BitingRealitan Hummers soon trekked west into the unclaimed land.

OOC Unless your people are completely incompetant and get caught with a first strike that wipes out most of your equipment in all divisions, the vast inequality of force is going to feed in your favor, particularly in a war of attrition. You don't need to bomb anything. Unless Rome gets some support from someone, it's 9:1 advantage to you.

Vastiva, I have 1,500 tanks and he has 1,300, and besides, we've set it up so that we're equals on paper.

Another note: it's been marked on the map where we're meeting. It's called "The Forest Incident".

The BitingRealitan force zoomed along the flatlands at a breakneck pace, eager to get to the rumoured gold mines further east. Eventually they came across a wooded area along their trek, after which they slowed down their pace to get through the massive foilage.

Along the way, the BitingRealitan commander, Tyrone Newnham, noticed a foreign army coming at them in the distance. As he got closer he identified the isignia of The Island Of Rose- they'd also heard of the gold mines, he thought, and were also gunning for them. Newnham wasn't about to let them have it.

Eventually, the Rosians and the BitingRealitans met up in a field just outside the forest. As soon as they arrived Newnham ordered his troops to stop and wait. He then relayed a message to the Rosian commander:

"This is Tyrone Newnham, Commander of the BitingRealitan Manium Army. Please identify yourself immediately."

The Rosian Division continued to move south-east, the Commander of the 3rd Colonial Division, General Tiora Rolana, a Hispanic Female, which was rare in the Rosian army, looked at the message.

"Dios mio... they're heading towards that mine... well, we can't have that now can we?"

Tiora gave the order, the convoy stopped, now it was a staredown, or some sort of staredown. She then relayed a message.

This is the Rosian 3rd Colonial Division, step aside, we are heading towards the gold mine...

He immediately aimed a M8300 HEAT-MP-T projectile and a medium-range rocket from the BitingRealitan Hummer at the Rosians and pressed the button.

A Squad of Rosian soldiers got killed from the attack, including a Humvee. At that, Tiora gave the order. "Launch the artillery!"

Artillery started to fire, all the SMERCH and Howitzers started to fire, all aiming towards the BR Forces. A whistling sound can be heard as the fire is... fired. Tiora smirked, nobody attacked a Rosian and get away with it...

IC: Immediately after Tiora gave the order Newnham swiftly replied. He ordered all his artillery and his tanks to fire at will, without any let-up. The BitingRealitan Hummers positioned themselves behind the tanks to minimize the damage to them, but Newnham still lost 70 soldiers. He immediately called the BitingRealitan base for back-up.

"We're in a major battle here- need reinforcements quick!"

The 100 of the 300 T-90s moved foward, the gunners firing at any enemy they see, 700 Humvees also moved foward, the gunners and the men inside killing any enemy they could. It was a blitzkrieg to say the least, overwhelm them with speed. The ones left behind were on defense, the soldiers still not charging.

Newnham braced himself for the Rosian onslaught. His limited force couldn't keep up with the hordes of Rosians that were coming towards him. He kept ordering his troops to fire, but he quickly ran out of missiles and lost 7 tanks and 800 of his men, with the losses mounting.

"Those reinforcements better come soon".

20 Gunners from the Humvees were lost due to fire, 3 Tanks were also lost, but it was good overall.

"Soldiers, march!"

7,000 of the 12,000 men started charging at the enemy, leaving 5,000 in defense. The T-90s stil were blasting away, the same thing with the Humvees, the Rosian battle tactics were working, nothing seemed wrong. The soldier ran to the enemy, firing their guns at any Realitian.

OOC: I'm severely outnumbered here, although I will admit I don't have much war RPing experience either.

Newnhamn had to think quickly. With his limited numbers, he decided a different approach- instead of facing them head-on, he was going to encircle them. It would be difficult but he decided it had to get done.

Immediately he told his troops to break ranks and split up. He ordered them to form a "V" shape and then move apart from there, with their guns always pointing at the Rosians. The infantrymen were ordered to go behind the tanks and escape into the forest behind them, setting up positions to take out the Rosians. "If they can't see us, then maybe we'd stand a better chance."

2 tanks were lost in the process.

The Rosians stop as they watch the Realitians break ranks. The General, knowing that they can't be retreating after those little losses, gave out an order.

"Snipers, shoot anything that doesn't have a Rose on their uniform."

The Snipers readied they're PSG-1s, aiming at anything, the riflemen were aiming also, though not as effective.

"Gunners, SAWsoldiers, shoot into the forest."

The Gunners on top of the Humvees started to shoot randomly into the forest, those armed with the S.A.W.s also started firing, the riflemen preceeded to fire also, waste of ammo, but it'd do something...

OOC: The M1A's can take a lot of damage and can escape pretty quickly...it's not like they can be picked off like fleas. Plus I did move out of the way, so your trajectory would miss quite a few tanks. Although I didn't think 2 tanks was that excessive...

IC: The movement went well. Two more tanks were lost in the shuffle, but Newnham was able to get the positions that he wanted. With the Rosians shooting randomly into the forest they seemed to be easy pickings for his soldiers, though he did lose 10 men.

"Lucky shots", he thought to himself. He ordered the tanks to keep moving inwards (while maintaining their V) and keep on firing- he was hoping to squeeze the Rosians back.

Shit She thought. Outflanked I knew it... I need armor up in the front...

"Armor front!"

Three T-90s and 5 BMP-3s got loss due to fire, 20 soldiers also were loss. The soldiers and armor were left in defense, firing back at them. But they went to the back, letting the armor do all the fighting. There was one trick up her sleeve, but she might lose units...

"Artillery fire!"

The SMERCHs and Howitzers howled again, they targeted the soldiers, they were easy pickings since the Tanks were moving foward and leaving them alone. The ammo went up, where would it land? Who knows...

Meanwhile at the back, the soldiers were regaining any ammo they wasted while at the front all available armor was defending from the attackers.

An order also went out, 200 men were ordered to flank the V, the tanks would keep the enemy busy, allowing 100 men on each side of the V to disorient the enemy, risky, but needed.

OOC: Tell me if I did anything wrong in losses hm?

OOC: All of my soldiers are in the trees...on the field are just the tanks.

IC: Newnham caught the Rosians trying to surround the tanks. The Howitzers and SMERCHs were being a pain, but he wasn't worried about the Rosian foot soldiers. He ordered his tanks to move back and forth and run over the Rosian soldiers- "just like squishing bugs" he thought. He ordered the bulk of the fire from the tanks to point to the Howitzers and SMERCHs- if he could take them all out he'd be flying.

Losses: 3 tanks (Reasonable?)

OOC: It's good.

Five men were run over, the rest went back towards the line. Soldiers then entered the Humvees, around 70 Humvees were entered. The Humvees would do strafing runs on the tanks, trying to distract them. Some soldiers would be firing M-Deuce Machine Guns, others would fire RPG-7s, the rest were from inside the Humvee, realeasing some grenades or two, if they could destroy the tanks, they could be free.

Three SMERCHs were knocked out, also Five Howitzers were destroyed, but they continued to fire towards the tanks, unrelenting in their attack. 50 T-90s, obviously knowing that the tanks were distracted by the artillery, started to go and split ranks, firing towards them, they would plan to fire at towards the side of the M1A2, which has a weak point if I'm right. They needed to break the V...

IC: Newnham ordered some of the soldiers in the trees to fire at the Hummers so as not to distract the tanks. The two outer tanks on the V pointed their second gun at the incoming T-90s while keeping their main gun focused on the artillery. Two of the tanks at the top were destroyed, and 50 men were lost from the trees.

OOC: Can I bring in the reinforcements now? They should have arrived already.

OOC: Do you really need it by now? :p

Three more Howitzers destroyed, two T-90s due to machine gun fire, the artillery still kept on firing. The Humvees spilt up, 35 to handle the soldiers and 35 to handle the tanks. They still kept on firing.

The soldiers heard the order, they would counter attack, 7,000 men, with the aid of 100 T-90s charged towards the V, a desperate measure, but they're not going to retreat, to their doom did they charge, or did they charge to victory?

OOC: True enough, I am holding fort quite well. I'll bring in two Howitzers though, because I'm itching to use them.

The Rosians were getting desperate, and Newnham could sense it. He ordered the M1As to point their guns in opposite directions, so both sides of the tank were covered. Two Howitzers arrived onto the scene to provide some reinforcements- Newnhamn ordered the rest of the force to stay behind.

The Howitzers arrived on the scene and Newnham quickly ordered them into usage, showering the Rosians with a barrage of shots. "I'll finish them off if it's the last thing I'll do".

OOC: Then you don't mind if I call in an Airstrike hm, it's only fair. ;), but why are your losses so small from MY artillery barrage?

Three tanks were destroyed, from the barrage, including 10 men. Tiora shook her head.

"Screw this, I need an airstrike!" She said through the radio. Luckily, three RB-1s were on patrol and speeded over there, they targeted the artillery, each dropping one 1,000lb bomb, they then speeded away.

The soldier cheered as the planes passed by, the T-90s continued to fire, soldiers were still running up to meet the enemy.

Soldiers were dying everywhere, Priests were doing last rites, three T-90s were lost again, the Humvees lost another two gunners, but they kept going, fooling around with the enemy, they couldn't coordinate all of this to work. The T-90s, charged, the soldiers waiting for the last tanks to be destroyed so they could charge.

The Rosians broke out from the V, the armor rolled foward scaring away any soldiers, the Rosian soldiers started firing to those that didn't run, it was a hard taken victory, and it was thanks to artillery.

A message was then sent out to the Governer:

Attacked, arty and fire involved, victory ours, continuing march.

The Governer was furious, he found out it was Biting Reality, but he didn't declare war, he just ordered to march towards the gold.

OOC: RomeW keep me expanding east toward the Southern Portion of Red Tide2s claim and toward the Island of Rose. Guys why don't you make another thread for this war its going to get pretty messy if you use this one forum for everything.

The Colony of Vandalia while we will supporting our allies in the Island of Rose we will be official neutral in fighting of this first war on this new continent. While we will not be drawn into this war we are putting colonial forces on alert. Currently the Vandalia Militia, the Colonial Expeditionary Force, and all Regular Army, Navy, and Marine Units in and around Vandalia and Manium will be put on alert. They will keep a high state readiness just in case this war grows into a larger conflict. We hope that this war will be short and will be resolved peacefully. Thank you.

OOC: Number one The next day. That is a GODMOD. To assemble enough colonists it would at least take a month. Number two where are you going to land that C-130? Their aren't a whole lot of airports in an uncolonized part of the world. Number 3 their isn't a whole lot of land left. Number 4 you didn't even say through either IC or OOC where you wanted your colony.

Sarzonia would like to expand farther south to the border with Spankstonia's colony and east to the border with Kleptonis. We would also like to expand farther to the west toward Sanctumer, but the first two are the higher priorities for us.
