"You'd think he'd have more important things to do, with his impending war and all."

It's funny, I made that same point. It wasn't so well recieved as I would have hoped.

Squorn smiled grimly.
"I guess he's a man who enjoys his hobbies."

He laid a hand on Gael's shoulder.
"You gonna be all right?"

*She winked and flashed a half hearted smile as she rose and dusted herself off.*

His smile changed to echo hers.
"That sounds like the Gael I know."
He stood and brushed sand off his knees.
"I'm afraid I've got to be going, nice talking to you, although I hope next time we meet is under happier circumstances."

With that, he offered a little half wave, and strolled off back down the beach.

*Ju opened up the windows and let the sunlight in. Looking out at the beach, he noticed a figure lying under a palm. Putting together a tray of food, he made his way down to the person... only to notice the tattered condition he was in. *

*Orchid was walking along the shorline deep in thought, every now and then she pauses and angrily kicks a pebble into the sea.*

*A small plant rests on a table in the club, soon enough though, the plant grows. It grows and grows until it is a beautiful yellow flower, the most beautiful flower of all. Then it starts to shrivel, it becomes pale, and then brown. The stem breaks off and it lands on the table. Sage reaches down and picks it up, dropping it into another flower pot.*

The last few days had been uneventful to say the least!
June had visited Parker, who was still hidden away in the wooded area nearby, on numerous occasions.
She had brought back the DNA results from the feather, and much to Pats surprise, it had come from a different being than the first one, although some of the DNA was similar enough to suggest that there was a connection between the two.

He had barely left the room himself, preferring to remain aloof from the regulars and passing trade alike and though there had been a few of the former, there was nothing much to report back to the boss, even the small lenses he had placed in and around the bar had apparently sent nothing of interest for Parker to record.
He had, in the times when he emerged from the cabana, had the opportunity to look around the entire site and had found one or two strange features, nothing he could identify exactly, just a vague feeling that something was going on unseen by those who were not in the know.

The need was building up in him again, so he silently left the sleeping June, and heading into the bar helped himself to a bottle of the golden fire which he took out to the beach.
Taking the cliff walk he very soon was climbing upwards until he arrived at the topmost point, where he could look down upon the club and see any comings and goings.
Making himself comfortable on a grassy patch, he opened up the bottle and took a long hard pull.

The club below forgotten, he lay sprawled on his back enjoying the warmth the liquor was spreading through his whole being, the desire to smoke beginning to subside. He almost wished he had not made that promise to quit, but he was a man of his word so he would persevere.
Rolling over onto his front, he looked down once more on the club the only sign of life was a couple of large birds circling below him. They looked almost as though they were playing with each other, as he watched them, the thought struck him that they were the strangest birds he had ever seen. One was brown and the other, slightly smaller a green but both were iridescent and shone when the sun caught their wings.
They flew apart for a few hundred feet, then both turning they headed straight at each other, waiting till the last second then both soaring upwards a little way, circling each other and then starting the ritual over.
He watched fascinated for about half an hour, when they as one flew out of his sight.
He sat upright and drained about half the bottle then leaned against a nearby tree, falling into a light sleep.

*Gael stood a fair distance behind the elusive stranger who had dared to seek solace in her personal sacred space. She watched him silently. He seemed to draw the same peace she drew from the spot, but almost certainly not for the same reasons.*

*stretches his legs and looks around the room seeing who is there to talk to*

The sensation of icy cold fingers touching the back of his neck woke him, and with the uneasy sensation that someone was watching him he looked around, only to find there was no one in sight.

He took another long pull from the bottle before once more drifting away to a dream, not sleeping, but the dream he had cherished since the day he had freed himself and his brother from his fathers stranglehold.

On looking down below once more, he percieved a slight movement, but it was only some small animal or another.

*Soundlessly, casually, she walked up from behind the stranger. Standing on the edge of the cliff, she looked back at him with a piercing, evaluating sort of gaze, then jumped over the edge. Freefalling, she snapped open her black-feathered wings, and glided the rest of the way down to the bar.*

The woman had appeared from nowhere, and as she looked at him he could feel her almost soaking up his very soul, she must know his deepest secrets the idea of which bothered him deeply.
As she dropped from the edge of the cliff the first feeling he got was one of relief that she would break on the rocky ledges below, then the shock that she would have done such a thing hit home and he leapt to his feet in time to see her wings open, and for her to land softly just outside the bar.
He was knocked back by the sight of it, even though he had been informed that she existed, the black feathers were proof, but even so to see the magnificence of her was something else!
Well that would be the end of his peace for today, the end of his peace period if she knew about him what he suspected she did, but what to do about it?
He took the bottle and sent it over the cliff after her, only to watch it shatter on the rocks.
He meandered back down the path to the beach, but couldn't face the bar or the cabana and June just yet, so he paced uneasily along the beach.

*She had retrieved a bottle of her special wine from it's hiding place. The Morrigan had been kind enough to supply a few more given current conditions.. Now sipping it casually from a proper glass, she leaned against the jamb in the open doorway and watched the poor man stall his way down the beach. Her devilish gaze never left him.*

There it was again, that feeling of icy fingers on the back of his neck, this time combined with the feeling that she was there reading his thoughts still.
He glanced uneasily over his shoulder towards the club, sure enough she was there watching him, her eyes even at this distance piercing through to his inner self.
Should he go and talk to her? He knew that is what his boss would have him do, but for the first time since that fateful day some fifteen years or so ago, he was afraid.
Afraid to the very core.
He wished he had a pack of cigarettes on him, knowing that was not the answer.
He turned away and, stooping, picked up a handful of shingle which he threw a stone at a time into the water.

*She couldn't help but laugh softly to herself. She could almost smell his fear, and he was reacting to it in the way small children do - ignore it in the hopes it goes away. He had seen her. She simply savored another sip of her wine before starting out in his direction.*

He could feel her getting closer but it was as though he had been turned to stone.
He was supposed to be the one doing the watching, but in one swift moment, she had turned the tables on him almost as his mind turned back time.

*Gael poured herself another glass of wine and wandered out onto the beach.*

Trevor walks into the club. After looking around at the empty interior, he gets himself a glass of ice water and walks to the back window. Noting a figure out on the beach, he walks out the back door and slowly makes his way toward Gael. After recognizing her, he approached more closely.

"I thought I saw someone out here."

*stares around and then begins to teach about the Kingdom of Christ*

"In this life, we are perpetually on the verge of bad news. I've found that there are only two good ways to avoid letting it dominate your life. The first, and easiest is simply to not worry about what may happen tomorrow until tomorrow."

"Make that three ways then. The last option is to be the one causing the bad news."

*Gael woke from her sleep suddenly to an empty room. She shuddered briefly without knowing why. Uneasily, she rose and paced to the large sliding glass window. The beach was deserted. Still that ominious feeling, but otherwise nothing seemed obvious. Concerned, she hesitantly returned to her bed. She needed to conserve her strength.*

The stranger felt a tree die from brutal energy amd began to simmer and seethe and burn inside.
