that question thing could be dangerous...I see alot of "what are you wearing"'s

oh thats for sure. We could post like 3 or 4 generic questions and people could choose which to answer. Like 'What did you do today/this weekend?"
"What are your hobbies or what do you enjoy doing? Stuff like that.

Just a thought folks....

LOL.........thats great!! I just said it outloud here and got a raised eyebrow look-haha!

i think we should record us singing th ABC song or We should ask a question and then the next poster has to answer it with a recorded answer. That might be fun?
The question thing might be interesting.

I can't sing the ABC thing without being mean about it. Short story-
The day I got hired at the record store I went to the sister store and was looking at soundtracks. For some reason this kid asked me to find the soundtrack to Independence Day, so I sang-"A B C D E F G H I" and flicked the I leader card. I was hoping that his mom went and complained about my service, 'cause I didn't work there. "That's too bad. Next time ask an employee."

Barring a James Earl Jones or Morgan Freeman voice, here's (http://www.gimehost.com/jNhvvkk21DmGrgngvjrC) what I wish I sounded like. Man that'd be cool. I could make anything sound creepy if I had that voice...(and yes, having the Disposable Heroes of HipHopracy provide a musical bedding to everything I said would be cool, too...)

It is, isn't it?

Ah yes, sorry about being so long. I still think I sound strange on the compy...:p

http://media.putfile.com/shotagon
Aw, I love it. :) Also, I didn't know you could say "compy" in English, too! And here I was always typing out the damn thing...

And yeah, just rambling on without purpose feels stupid. Maybe we really should do the questions thing. Somebody else think of one, my brain doesn't work yet.

Doesn't work.
Well, not even their main site seems to work. I dunno. Yesterday it was all screwed up, too, they had changed some things and it wouldn't let me upload stuff because "it was not allowed". WTF? A bit of porn never hurt anyone, right? But it's only a really small site (new maybe) I think, so maybe we killed it? :(

Ooh, Irish! Finally! But not enough accent (or is it "brogue" for Irish?) by far. You should do another one, without reading off anything. Would you? Would you? Pleeeease. :)

Heh, no, you didn't disappoint :p. Though I'm actually surprised that there is so little of a really heavy accent there. The only words that really stood out, in a Colin Farell Irish kind of way, were "particular" and "Ireland". Hee.

she hardly ever screws up her own jokes, she was going to tell one of hers in the begining but decided to tell somone else's at the last minute and of course screwed up the most important part (I think she was nervous)Well, we all were nervous (well, maybe not Eut with the yelling so much) and we're a hell of a lot older than four, so I think we can totally relate. :)

One little girl showed me where I was going to live in her closet, another proposed. I was pretty decent at making the parents laugh, too. If I could make grandpa laugh I knew I was getting a big tip. (If only they knew that underneath was a dirty slacker, hehe)

Not that it matters now, but I fall asleep to steaming old time radio plays like X-Minus One and The Shadow, so sometimes I forget to close out Firefox before I go to sleep.

And they hired me on the spot. Not many people show up for those gigs with experience, I guess. It won't help my career much, but it'll be a nice diversion and a chance to do something I loved for a short time again. I am still uncomfortable about being photographed, even if it is in a bunny suit, so that should be interesting.

I'm in a mall near Erastide, she could have her photo taken with another NSer who would still retain his anonymity. That would be (wait for it...) quality.

So as not to stray off topic I wanted to play along with the nursery rhymes (http://rapidshare.de/files/16276400/thefly.wav.html) thing. Now, this seems like a esprit d'eclair or however that's spelled, the staircase thingy, I really did this one day spontaneously not realising I would when a roommate asked me how my day was. I think it was a lot funnier then because it was the moment and I did it a little more relaxed because all I had planned on saying was, "Some crazy bitch swallowed a fly. For all I know, it's going to kill her," then just kept going.

Oh, they're totally scary! It's like the scum of mankind crawls out at night and posts with their dirty, slimy fingers.
Though I take less offence with the film people. I think the morons and jerks and dimwits and just general reactionary assholes are the worst.
I looked something up on the Brokeback site when it was still way early in production, and the venom they were already spewing has made sure that to this day I've never visited that site again except to look up the name of the actress who played Ennis' daughter, and then I made absolutely sure that I didn't accidentally scroll down enough to get an eyeful of the message board.
And even in less serious cases, it's beyond me what motivates someone to go on an actor's/actress' message board spewing obscenities about how they hated this specific person and how ugly, untalented, and OMFGGAY he/she is. *shakes head in disgust*
I think Simonist once said that her boyfriend (a film student, IIRC) was banned there. I couldn't believe it - can you even imagine what could possibly consitute a bannable offense on IMDb?? The mind boggles.

Occasionally it can be amusing. Before King Kong came out I followed the argument over the presence of dinosaurs, it got pretty hilarious. I think that there is some sort of secret haters society that exists there solely to crap on every movie that comes out.

Oh, and they all can't spell for shit, either.

[/Off-topic rant]
I do love the people who go there just to post "I hated this movie" on all the most popular/highest rated movies. Too bad almost none of them can really back it up

No no no, they are not to be loved, they are to be shunned, ignored, or, if it can't be helped, ridiculed to within an inch of their lives.

Seriously, is it so hard to remember that?

Ooh, very pleasant to voice to listen to. You did grow up in Berlin, right? Just say yes, I'm not sure I could stand it if my German accent recognition went down the drain, too.
Of course, there isn't really any accent in the sample, so it's kinda hard to tell. (<-- preemptive explanation in case of failure as well as potential reasoning for major future bragging. I'm so clever.)Yes. Born and raised in Berlin.

I just got two images in my head. The first one was of a little boy with a little plastic hammer and plastic chisel chipping away at the Berlin wall with a huge grin.
The second, which I feel is more likely to be accurate, is a little boy leaning on one of those cartoon detonators, then running away giggling as the wall explodes into flames.

The more memorable one is where my dad is holding my little brother as they're sawing off one of the bars that reenforced the wall.
In fact, the only picture of taking down the wall where you can see my face shows only that. I'm stepping out in behind someone and all you can see is a wee bit of my visage...

If i'm off work on the morrow, i'll submit. That whole irl thing - wife just went back up to Anchorage, and i'm keeping quiet while her little brother is supposed to be sleeping for school (any excuse is one he'll use to stay up).
Since i've been singing since '87, quite a variety of styles, mannerisms, and pitches, i'm not entirely sure how many different voices i should use. Not that i'm good at mimicry, seeing as how i can't get Zoidberg's voice down - but i can do a s.baptist/revivalist preacher voice, Nixon on occasion, Wayne Newton (don't ask), the lead character from that Vestibules skit (Bulbous Bouffant), Guy La Douche, and a few others that i can't remember at the moment.
It should be of note that most of my accents are employed when i'm attempting to annoy my wife, driving around. Most common uses are:
Dylan, Hendrix, and Nixon, in song settings they obviously don't belong in.

Yeah, I went with my standard reading/speaking voice. I should read in my old english accent...sounds somewhat scotch or irish. And the best line to say as a preacher is "Sweet wounded Jesus". Kills me every time.
My accents only come out when I'm attempting to keep myself amused, which, as I'm sure we've all realized by now, really isn't that difficult.

What don't you understand about (don't ask)?!?!?!?
:D

Ah, i was taken aback when i learned that his version of Danke Schoen was actually by a male, and then when i first asked someone else about it, they acted like it was common knowledge. Further, i saw him on a tv series where he acted like that was ancient history and he was a macho stud
So, as part of my vocal articulation, i decided to employ a few of his techniques. I use them at gigs, on occasion.

I lament that i never got to know my grammy's temperment, and my grandpa hardly laughed about anything. He was a smart mofo though - his book prowess is apparently the only thing i have somewhat in common with him. Thankfully i didn't inherit his hairline.
As long as bestiality is tastefully done, it's all good. Perhaps in b & w. ;)

You know what's nice about not growing up in a religious mindset? Not having the Altered States William Hurt response (that was mod-f*cking-awful). The only nice thing about that flick's trip (and understandable) was the dissipation of sand.
Either way, as you already seem to know, don't do it alone, and do it with someone you trust, or at least, who you aren't going to want to strangle when you're on top or start coming down. *nods*

Oooh *Zing!* :p

@Cabra:
Thanks for bringing this back on track! And no, you#re not too stupid, it's really easy (and hey, if I say that then it's true, I had never recorded anything before).

All you need is a microphone (or just headphones, actually) and plug them into the mic socket of your computer.
You can either record it by downloading software like Audacity (audacity.com), or by simply using the Windows sound recorder, as I did. You can find that one under start > programs > accessories > entertainment (oder so ähnlich, mein windows ist in deutsch...).
Then you upload your sample onto a site where we can access it (for example putfile.com, but that doesn't work so well for some people; rapidshare; or gimehost.com, my personal favourite, but they were restructuring the site the other day and didn't do uploads, so you'll have to check.)

Oh, and all these instructions can be found more eloquently put in the first few pages of this thread, too. :)

Now, I learned Greek for you, didn't I, so don't you think it would at least be common courtesy for you to put up a sample already? And the mere amount of time you must spend on reading through what seems like every thread in this forum automatically lets us know that 1) you do have the time to record something and 2) even if you had temporarily forgotten how to get your voice on the interweb, you must have read about 20 detailed descriptions in this thread alone.

And since this probably isn't gonna do it, I'd like to point out that only 4 posts above this, Aerou herself asked you for a sample. Now that should do the trick, right? :p

Ah, okay... I always think I'm pretty unguessable in terms of things like that... people usually fail to reconcile aspects of me - either my voice surprises them (kinda soft-spoken, but 6'4" and 230lbs)... or I look wrong for my beliefs/education/whatever.... or they miss my age by a decade either way.

I'm pretty glad I actually 'look like I seem like I'd look' (?) to someone. :)

Isn't it about time there was a Smunkee pic...?

Aha! Just got done arguing in another thread, and look what we find!

I didn't guess you exactly right.... I'd have imagined shorter, spikier hair (I was thinking bottle-blonde, for some reason)... but other than that - you look almost exactly how I would have guessed.... :)

I think my image of you might have been coloured by the fact you used to be in a band... right?

I wonder what you were thinking... you have a pronounced 'devilish' look in your eye... or, is that a standard Smunkee trait? ;)
