Ludo was excited: It was time to actually get involved in a war. The 10,000 He-43s (one-third of the entire hypersonic fleet) based in Northern Iraq had been launched, and were flying at 70,000 feet at Mach 20 (a properly shaped plane with scramjet engines with a strengthed titanium airframe can do that), well above the altitude and speed for any intercepting aircraft. Their mission: To shoot down Oroslav if he ever got on a plane or helicopter. They were remotely controlled aircraft with computer assistance, so G-forces were not a problem. However, they were extremely expensive (easily the most expensive plane in the Luftwaffe), so they were to get out as soon as the missiles were launched.

OCC: Yea, Oroslav is annoying me, so I thought it would be a good idea to kill him while he's still vulnerable, since the Croatian Air Force really isn't exactly on his side yet. :)

(OOC: I am checking on the aircraft's feasability and their ability to even shoot anything. What I am sure of is that the ammount of planes needs to be divided by 100. These planes would be hideously expensive if possible and you confirmed that they are the most expensive planes in your airforce. Having 30,000 of them is not possible. Heck, I'd be surprised if you could even have 30,000 planes in your whole airforce.))

OOC: I'll tone it down if you can show me sources that firing missiles at that speed is impossible. ;) (As for the aircraft, estimates for scramjet-powered engined aircraft range from Mach 12-Mach 24, according to Wikipedia. I choose Mach 20.) Also, I would like to know what the temperature would be on the metal at that speed since I think I may be cutting cross the melting point of titanium...

As for the financial stuff: My Luftwaffe's budget is half of my entire military budget and military personnel (that's $8,030,047,033,008 and 12.75 million support and flight personnel, respectively). Plus, I'm only paying for their maintence costs. Fuel costs are also almost non-existant since they're airbreathing (except for takeoff, of course), and I paid for the production of them back in March.

I'm surpised that you are surpised that a nation with a giant military budget (half of which is exclusively for the Luftwaffe) has over 30 thousand aircraft in their almost all fighter aircraft Luftwaffe. If you take issue with the math, bring this up in the Military Declarations thread. I think I will reduce the number of that specific aircraft down to 3,000, though.

We are now getting gruesome footage of remains of 75 Whittier troops who have been killed and butchered in an ambush in northern Afghanistan this morning when they were on a routine patrol.


Signs were posted near the carnage reading "Death to Whittier".

The attack has shocked a government that thought it had Afghanistan under control. So far it is unknown who is responsible or who left the signs.

2 more ambushes are being reported from Northern Aghanistan.

It was once again one big chaos in the corridors and rooms of the Military High Command. They were nly a few hours away from the start of Operation Jubilee, a massive invasion on Palawan. The pride of Warta Endor was at stake. Whittier and Mauiwowee had payed a great prise in the war against the CoB. Warta Endor had also fought bravely in SE Asia, but on the Combined Front in the Phillipines it had fought only on a very small scale. Small scale invasions had been held on the Sulu Archipelago and some airstrikes had been made. A short but very high intensity bombardment had begun two hours ago. It would finish fifteen minutes before the start of the landings. It was simple, old Warty style. Lower Ramps, charge forward and gain as much terrain as possible.

Yup- just give me time. I'm heavily involved with E20 (Earth 1900 - 2000), which requires quite a bit of moderation (I'm the supreme mod there), and research efforts (history stuff).

Airforce Captain Randolph Scott loved high tech toys and his new Stinger gunship was a super toy. For days now he and his squad had been flying missions into the jungles of Venezuela taking out the last of the resistance with the army right behind them. Randolph had racked up 6 tanks, 4 AA batteries and at least 30 various artillery pieces along with assorted jeeps, hummers and even a couple of Mauiwowee manufactured Ferrets. The plane flew like a dream and its ability to withstand ground fire punishment was exceptional. He had named his plane "Hooters" in honor of his girlfriend back in Rio. One member of his squad had been shot down, but had ejected safely and been picked up by the army ground forces and was back on duty with a new plane within 2 days. Between his new toy and the new Stryker aircraft some of the other squads were flying, the last of the resistance in Venezuela had crumbled. It hadn't been without cost he mused. He remembered his brother-in-law, Tommy, who had been killed by a sniper during the first of the occupation of Carracas. His sister, Betsy, had really taken that hard. According to the latest news reports, almost 1,300 Mauiwoweean forces had been killed in the conquest of Venezuela. But that was at an end now. They had located the last of the big rebel hideouts and his squad and 3 others as well as 5,000 ground troops with support from the new tanks and their armed Ferrets were going in this afternoon -by this time tommorow, Venezeula would be fully subdued and ready to begin its rebuilding as a state of Mauiwowee.

Whittier is quitting NS. Also, RP activity in Earth V has pretty much died out once Whittier quit, as most of the ongoing RP's here has involved him- the Vineyard situation, the kidnapping of Whittier's leader's wife, Whittier's actions in the Phillipines, etc.

Just stating my honest opinion on this matter.

In our top story tonight, the palace is reporting that, at long last, the war in Venezuela is at an end. The last of the rebels have either been killed or captured and the process of re-building and the installation of a state government is under way. Over 1,400 soldiers were killed and some 9,400 were injured in the war. The total estimated cost to date of the war is in excess of $400 Billion and that figure doesn't include what it will cost to re-build the infra-structure that was damaged or destroyed in the war. Brazilian Governor, Ghomez Ahdams had nothing but high praise for his troops today though and a celebratory air was apparant thoughout all of Brazil this evening.

The government of Mauiwowee announced today that their permanent space station, the H.M.S. Brisbane, had gone "on line" and become fully operational today. Completed at a cost of over $1.8 Trillion over the past 12 years, the Brisbane is a marvel of technological prowess. The ship is capable of housing up to 30 people at a time, but with 12 or fewer (standard crew compliment is 8-10) the ship is completely self-sufficient and sustaining and can support the crew for an almost unlimited time. Mauiwowee wishes to extend a special thanks to The Great Sixth Reich who sold us 3 of their space shuttles for our use in construction of the Brisbane. Without those ships, the construction time and costs would have been significantly highter.

The 6 Agri-Domes are used to grow plants and crops and house various small animals (primarily rabbits/hares) which can be utilized as a nutrious food source by the crew. The domes have full climate contol with Light, humidity and temprature settings adjusted depending upon the plant life growing in any given dome. Artificial "growing seasons" are also created by adjusting light cycles, etc. The plants are also used in the production of oxygen and the breakdown and utilization of waste (which is used, primarily, for fertilization of the plants). The use of vegetation and heliobacteria as an oxygen source, coupled with the use of CO2 "scrubbers" and the strict control of the small animal populations in the domes enable the ship and a crew of up to 12 to survive in the depths of space for, theoretically at least, over 175 years without the need of supplies or other materials from earth. Furthermore, With a full crew load of 30, depending on the additional supplies stored on the ship, self-sufficiency for a period of up to 20 years can be maintained.

The ship, in "ultra"-high orbit above the earth (142 miles/229 Kilometers), slowly spins "end-over-end" and along it's axis, creating an artificial gravity in the domes of about 15% of earth's gravity. The ship makes a complete circuit around the earth every 22 hours. For various reasons, primarily related to maintaining suffiecient natural sunlight for the agri-domes (artificial lighting is used in conjunction with natural light), the ship orbits the earth in a "north to south" or "pole to pole" orientation rather than the standard "east to west" along the equator, geo-synchronous orbital path.

According to scientists associated with the project, the biggest challenge lay in the creation of a self-sustaining water supply. The problem was overcome by a variety of techniques ranging from the re-processing of urine and other wastes, maintaining low humidity in all ship areas but agri-domes to lessen the loss of water to the ambient air, to the "reverse" hydrolosis of elemental hydrogen and the use of oxygen generated by the agri-domes. Additionally, if need be, the station's permanent compliment of 3 of Mauiwowee's "Links 50/50" orbital craft can be used to "scoop" the earth's atmosphere.

The basic building material of the ship is a poly-ceramic coated stainless titanium steel core encased in phenylphosphine oxide silicate. The domes were built using a metal lattice incorporating the ship's primary contruction metal. Once the lattice was in place, triangular "windows" constructed of a leaded glass and acrylic polymer with lcd controlled, self-shading, U.V. reducing properties were put into place. Other released specifications are as follows and are shown on the released plans below. A photograph of the new station taken by one of the Links 50/50 orbiter craft is also reproduced below. It is the plan of Mauiwowee to eventually use the station as a "jumping off" point for further exploration of space and even the "mining" of the asteroid belt.

The Brisbane has six (6) small "steering" jets (3 at each end) for minor adjustments in course and rotational attitude, but relies primarily on 3 Links 50/50 orbital vehicles for major changes in course, orbit, etc. These 3 ships attach to docking clamps at one end of the station and via computer controlled, timed burns, serve as "engines" for the station.

The ship has missile, laser and other capabilities for self-defense, but does not carry any offensive weapons that can be used on earth bound targets. It's how things get done in Norleans thought Don DaVinci to himself as he faced the man across the table. A man whose face was deliberately hidden in darkness and whose voice was being altered by an electronic voice box. plausible deniability continued the thoughts in Giavani DaVinci's head. I really won't know who it was.

"You understand - quick, quite, no way to trace it back to me?"

"I understand Don DaVinci" said the strange electronic voice

"The funds will be placed in the account this afternoon and the final installment paid when the job is complete."

"That's fine Don DaVinci - just make sure they are."

"Don't concern yourself over that." said Don DaVinci

"Oh, don't worry, I'm not concerned, because I know how concerned you'll be if it isn't done."

"There's no need to threaten me" said Giavani in a slightly sterner tone of voice

"Not a threat, just an observation. Now, I need to get going."

"Yeah, sure - leave the way you came - I've had security clear it out completely. No one will know you were ever here."

"I'd keep it that way if I were you too." said the robotic tone. With that, the stranger got up and left.

Don DaVinci sat in the dark for a few minutes longer and then punched a button on the arm of his chair and the lights came up. He then fired up his computer and began to scan the news:
"Ohio vote is in - former Virgin Incursion territory votes to join Norleans as a new state - 60% to 37% with 84% of all precicnts reporting." said the scrolling headlines. "Wisconsin vote set for next week, much closer race anticipated. Iowa still under siege - Des Moines is last hold out. British Virgin Islands agree to protecterate status." continued the news.

Duke Long had done things right in those last vestiges of land in North America and the collapse of Virgin Incursion's government, thought Don DaVinci - but still, there comes a time when even decent leaders must yield the reigns of control to another. Now was one of those times and the new man he had just hired was going to help make that change. He had enough support in the families that he was confident the change would be without a great deal of problems - as the 3rd richest of the Dons, only Duke Long and Kathleen Prizzi, the Duke's niece, had more money than he did, and the Duke would soon be unable to spend his. Kathleen was likely to be the only real problem, but even she could be reasoned with. Lady Firebhrand - she could be had for the right price and I know what that price is thought Giavani.
He thought back on his conversation with the unknown face and as he got up to head off towards a nice barbeque rib dinner, he thought Contractors, such a pain in the ass to have to deal with.

Meanwhile, on Blackwood farm, just north of New Orleans and unaware of what had just transpired in Dallas, Duke Long was engaged in his own "cloak and dagger" operations. He had seen the collapse coming, what with the former government's resources stretched to the bone in the effort to secure land in the Pacific. The Duke had quietly, for almost 6 months, been moving men and supplies into Yemen and positioning his navy. When the collapse came and as anarchy began to descend, he made his move. The message was broadcast live over Yemeni radio, which was popular throughout the region and digital versions of the videotaped message were e-mailed to the newsrooms of every major TV station in the area as well as to all the newspapers. Aaron Lee, Joseph Jackson's protege' was standing by, ready to go in with his black ops team of Gator Guards. It was risky, but it was now or never the Duke had decided. He waited for the light to signal he was live and then he began to speak into the microphone as the cameras rolled.

"People of Iran and the United Arab Emirates - your government by Whittier has fallen and the people's republic is no more. Before you succumb to civil war and anarchy or other, much more ruthless leaders emerge, we offer you the chance to join with Norleans - your brother state in Yemen - to create a new era of prosperity in the region. Norleans has the food and similar resources your people require in your harsh climates. We have the expertise and contacts needed to continue the flow and oil and money within your borders and we have the wherewithall to make things great for all your people. If you are unwilling to join us voluntarily, we will have no choice but to occupy you by force. We have no wish to do this, but we cannot have the region plunge into civil unrest and threaten the peace that has finally arrived in the region after decades of strife. You have 48 hours for what is left of your leadership to communicate with the Norleans' ambassadors of your countries what your final decision is. However, be advised, we have several thousand planes and soldiers in Yemen ready to march on your lands if need be and the persian gulf and arabian sea are filled with our ships and men as well. We wish a peaceful joining of our nations, but will fight to ensure radicals and despots do not attempt to sieze control. Again, you have 48 hours to reply.

The Duke sat back as the little red light went off. The deed is done, time to get ready for war he thought, as he glanced up to see the lovely smile of his wife, the Lady Firebhrand. The look in her eyes was one he knew. He could hear her voice in his head: "You did good Huey, try to relax, it will work itself out."

The first wave Marines weren't the weaker ones in the armed forces. Most had years of experience, fighting in South America and across South East Asia. But what experienced this time was new.

A total silence lay over the beaches. Not a shot was fired, not one explosion was heared. The only sounds were the engines of the landingcraft and helicopters, and the muffled explosions further inland. Not one COB was seen.

Pvt. Shillings:"Damn, this just scares the living crap outta me! I thought hitting a beach while gunfire was everywere is scary, but this..."
Lt. Danston:"Ha, this will be simple, lain easy. Ok men, when we lower the ramps, you'll walk up the beach, take a drink from the beautifull women waiting for you! Hell, even bootcamp is more shitty! Let's do this men!"

The ramps lowered and around 5000 marines waded the last couple of meters ashore. Suddenly all hell broke loose. Rocket and machinegunfire erupted from the dense jungle and higher cliffs looking over the beachheads. The men ran for cover, only to discover that the beach was littered with mines and other high explosives. Within a few moments, the entire situation had changed. Men were screaming for help, their limbs ripped off by mines, their bodies full of shrapnel. What was more worrying was that the three commanding officers, General Williams, Lt. Gen Jobuno and Maj. Fergy were out of action. General Williams was shot through the head by a sniper, Jobuno tripped on a mine and lost both his legs, and would probably die within minutes and Major Fergy was KO due to a piece of a landingcraft hitting him. Chaos reigned the beaches while the second wave approached the shore, under heavy mortar and machinegun fire. Several landingcraft were on fire and quite a few were badly damaged. The usual aircover was absent because HQ wanted to experiment with the so called "surprise effect". And with choppers in the air it would be pretty obvious Warta Endor's Marines were on their way. But this proved to be a crucial mistake. Without close cover the men on the beaches could do nothing about the moratrs and entrenched CoB's in the bush. Reinforcements were quickly radioed in, but to late. Hundreds of marines covered the beaches, dead, or about to die...

The first and second waves were bogged down on the beach. Dead bodies were everywhere, as were the wounded men and the ones who lost their minds, terrified by the bloody bussiness that raged across the beaches. The Third Wave, containing 12500 men and 45 Merkava's. Papa CHief, or the HQ Ship hoped they'd force a breakthrough. The choppers and planes of the fleet began to bombard enemy positins more heavily. At some places, CoB's came running on the beaches, burning because of the Napalm and Phsopherous bombs dropped by the planes. It was a horrible sight to see. The Landingcraft slowly approached the beaches. The men were eager, excited and scared to death at the same time. Once the ramps lowered they cheered and ran forward. RPG fire almost immediate concentrated on the Merkava's, knocking several out of action. The others began firing on the CoB positions in the Jungle. The men of the first and second waves cheered and followed the tanks. Engineering squads began clearing pathways through the minefields, covered by choppers, tanks and infantry. About 15 minutes later the men stormed forward and jumped in the trenches and bunkers of teh CoB's. A fierce man-to-man combat erupted. Another few minutes later, it was silent again. The CoB's had been killed, captured or retreated to positions further back. A secure beachhead had been established, but the battle was far from over...

Whitterian Forces were going to be under the payroll of TG6R to protect their own territory of Iran, with their capital.
Vineyardian Iraqi mercenaries were in the process of being payed off to protect Iran.
A private military corporation was to be take the position of the "TG6R UN Forces" in Iran.

To UN Security Division

Warta Endor will send the First Marines (a.k.a. Old Guts 'n Blood) to the Iran/Afghanistan area. They will be supported by one carrier group and planes coming from Diego Garcia.

Aaron Lee received the call from Joe Jackson and true to Joe's promise to the Duke, Aaron began the offensive that had been dubbed "Desert Gator" within 1 hour of the Duke's call to Joseph - Less than 6 hours after the U.N. call for forces to enter and stablize the former Whitterian territory and barely 24 hours after the Duke's radio announcement to UAE and Iran.

In wave after wave, over 400 Head Rush bombers left Yemen and began bombing Bushehr and Shiraz and the roads between those cities and the cities to the north and Bandar Abbas to the south so as to cut off Bandar Abbas and slow any U.N. Troop movements from the north. Another 200, converted 767's flew over Bandar Abbas, each dropping some 250 Gator Guardsmen and Army special forces paratroopers - armed to the teeth. Another 150 c-130's flew over the city the desert just to the east and landed in the sandy/rocky terrain and began to quickly offload Mauiwowee manufactured Ferrets with crews who began an advance back towards the city. Also, sailing from their positions just outside the Gulf of Oman, 3 full carrier groups and 125 troop and cargo ships carrying over 100,000 marines and army personnel with artillery, tanks, more ferrets and equipment began heading at full steam towards Bandar Abbas and points north in the Persian Gulf. Aaron had spent 6 month or more planning the surprise assualt on Iran and was fully prepared to take Bandar Abbas in a sudden, all out assuault and quickly begin a north-easterly march towards Tehran.
Meanwhile, two submarines surfaced and offloaded 2 teams of some 30 Gator Guard special ops teams each - on team for Dubai in the UAE and another for Abu Dhabi. Strike fighters on the Carriers entering the straights of Hormuz began surgical airstrikes around the two cities as additional troop carriers began heading in to make a beach head just east of Dubai.
In the boldest move the plan though, several other planes flew over the cities of Zahedan, Kerman, Abadan, Ahvaz and Esfahan and dropped crates full of fresh food and water all labeled "products of and gifts from the people of Norleans to their newest allies - the people of Iran."

The Norlean invasion had the opposite effect of what the Norleans government had anticipated. Where as the assassination had thrown the nation into dissarray and disorder, the foriegn invaders became a unifying factor for the nation.
The various feuding Generals set aside their disputes as they heard the pronouncements by Norleans and watched the vicious assaults on their common birthplace, Iran. Though they each had their own ambitions, they realized that for their homeland to survive, they had to set aside those ambitions and unite in defense of Mother Iran.
But they need someone to represent the people of Whittier to the world. After some deliberation, it was decided that a Lt. in the 5th Army Division Infantry Division would serve as the most likely person to reunite the people of Whittier for the struggle against the foriegn invaders. They had to scan through files of recommended Whittierians. The one they chose was chosen for one simple fact. His name, and his family heritage. He was Victor Brezhnekov, heir to the Brezhnekov estate. The Brezhnekov's had a long ruling dynasty in the nation of Whittier so it was utilitiful that the man chosen to be unifying speaker of all Whittier lands should come from the house of Brezhnekov.
With the homeland under attack, the young, 19 year old Lt. was secreted away to northern Iraq by armed special ops troops.

Sirens were going off everywhere as the people ran to shelters - In his shelter, Aaron Lee was speaking frantically on a satellite phone to various men under his command.
"Dammit!! What do you mean you were caught be surprise!! Somebody's head is gonna roll for this and you seem to be at the top of the list at present Major! Goddammit" as he slammed down the phone - The AA defenses in Saana were obviously not up to par and the dumb Major in command of city defenses had just guarranteed his loss of a job and likely a court martial as well. Then the explosions began. Of the 1,400 ICBM's launched at Saana, only 70 of them would be destroyed in flight by the ill prepared city defenses. The rest would find a target - when all was said and done, over 8,300 people would be killed in Saana that day. Including a large number of civilians and many Vineyardian defense forces as well as Norleans' regulars.
As the missiles struck, General Lee reviewed the latest intelligence - Hah!! Whitterian forces are attempting to head south via Saudi Arabia - Vineyard would put a halt to that. They rely on the food from our North American breadbasket in Saudi, plus, Whittier's ICBM attack in Saana just killed a bunch of Vineyard's security forces. Those forces won't make here in time to do anything, if Vineyard lets them through at all. thought the General (OOC: Vineyard and Norleans have a treaty over Yemen - I supply Saudi Arabia, Oman and other mid-east holdings with agricultural products and food from North America and grant him the right to station a large military contingent in Yemen as an additional security force for himself and me and I get to run the politics of the country and handle oil production).

Of the 400 Head Rush bombers sent out on the mission 85 of them were shot down with all hands. 60 more ditched in the Gulf where their crews were eventually rescued. It was only the element of surprise and the fact that most of the planes had made their run and begun to head back before the Whitterian planes got their that kept them from being completely slaughtered. Worse yet, they only managed to shoot down 3 Whitterian planes and that was mostly luck since all the planes were armed with bombs, and no AA missiles. They were generally succesful in their mission though - the roads and major trails from the cities leading to Tehran and down to Bandar Aabas were 90% destroyed - it would take a while for any major ground force to get down south from those areas.

The huge barrage of missiles began slamming in around and in the area of the makeshift desert airport where the C-130's had been unloading their cargo.

Bandar Aabas, Iran

As the paratroopers began coming into the city and it's outskirts their sudden appearance had the effect desired - the population was thrown into a panic - that panic was helped when a couple hundred of the Whitterian missiles began hitting the city as well. Upon landing, the soldiers already knew where to group and the orders were to kill anything that even looked like it might try to resist the invasion. The city was occupied and it was urban warfare against a generally unprepared population in panic and a military force that was trying to rally and deal with a huge paratrooping force and a naval force that was bringing in more men.

Secret IC:

All the equipment and men, excluding the newest robots ordered, were soon on their way in a convoy to Tehran. The UMACVs would be operated off of rooftops in the city.

The new robots were already on their way to Iraq via transports, where they would also travel to Tehran like the others.

The mercenaries arrived in Tehran early this morning before sunrise, in camouflaged vehicles. They camouflaged their vehicles outside the Azadi Grand Hotel, and most maintained a perimenter around the hotel. The others were part of the air team, who set up a Dassault Neuron launcher, camouflaged into the surroundings.

After an encrypted satellite call from Ludo Hienkel, informing them of their target, all sixty Neurons were launched, and headed south below-radar (also making use of their stealth abilities) to Bandar Abbass, fully loaded with two laser-guided 550 pound bombs.

Saana - Capital of Yemen
Sirens were going off everywhere as the people ran to shelters - In his shelter, Aaron Lee was speaking frantically on a satellite phone to various men under his command.
"Dammit!! What do you mean you were caught be surprise!! Somebody's head is gonna roll for this and you seem to be at the top of the list at present Major! Goddammit" as he slammed down the phone - The AA defenses in Saana were obviously not up to par and the dumb Major in command of city defenses had just guarranteed his loss of a job and likely a court martial as well. Then the explosions began. Of the 1,400 ICBM's launched at Saana, only 70 of them would be destroyed in flight by the ill prepared city defenses. The rest would find a target - when all was said and done, over 8,300 people would be killed in Saana that day. Including a large number of civilians and many Vineyardian defense forces as well as Norleans' regulars.
As the missiles struck, General Lee reviewed the latest intelligence - Hah!! Whitterian forces are attempting to head south via Saudi Arabia - Vineyard would put a halt to that. They rely on the food from our North American breadbasket in Saudi, plus, Whittier's ICBM attack in Saana just killed a bunch of Vineyard's security forces. Those forces won't make here in time to do anything, if Vineyard lets them through at all. thought the General (OOC: Vineyard and Norleans have a treaty over Yemen - I supply Saudi Arabia, Oman and other mid-east holdings with agricultural products and food from North America and grant him the right to station a large military contingent in Yemen as an additional security force for himself and me and I get to run the politics of the country and handle oil production).

Over the cities of Bushehr and Shiraz in Iran

"Bandits! Lets take out the roads and bridges and get out of here!" yelled an unidentified Norleans' pilot to his squad as large contingent of Whitterian fighters began to converge on their position."

Of the 400 Head Rush bombers sent out on the mission 85 of them were shot down with all hands. 60 more ditched in the Gulf where their crews were eventually rescued. It was only the element of surprise and the fact that most of the planes had made their run and begun to head back before the Whitterian planes got their that kept them from being completely slaughtered. Worse yet, they only managed to shoot down 3 Whitterian planes and that was mostly luck since all the planes were armed with bombs, and no AA missiles. They were generally succesful in their mission though - the roads and major trails from the cities leading to Tehran and down to Bandar Aabas were 90% destroyed - it would take a while for any major ground force to get down south from those areas.

The huge barrage of missiles began slamming in around and in the area of the makeshift desert airport where the C-130's had been unloading their cargo.
of the 150 planes, 60 were destroyed on the ground. 200 men were killed, 80 Ferrets were destroyed as well as 44 HIMAR mobile artillery pieces and 17 RCAV "bunker busters"

Bandar Aabas, Iran

As the paratroopers began coming into the city and it's outskirts their sudden appearance had the effect desired - the population was thrown into a panic - that panic was helped when a couple hundred of the Whitterian missiles began hitting the city as well. Upon landing, the soldiers already knew where to group and the orders were to kill anything that even looked like it might try to resist the invasion. The city was occupied and it was urban warfare against a generally unprepared population in panic and a military force that was trying to rally and deal with a huge paratrooping force and a naval force that was bringing in more men.
ooc: Semi-applicable. My 'Empire' right now is divided into litle army-based factions. I think I got one army in yemen(that army is loyal to N.Orleans at the moment), and around 6 in Saudi Arabia/iraq areas. And no, the Generals won't like Whittier traspassing.

There is also the elite Bedouwin Corps(gurilla-based tactics), stationed somewhere in the Empty quarter of Saudi Arabia. Rumer has it that their base is under the shifting sands. Also, only the 4 Major generals knew where the base is or how to contact the Nomadic army. 3 are dead, and the fourth is sailing with his faction for Italy.

Alarms blared throughout the dorms, messhalls, lavitories, showers, armory, and recreational areas, singling for the men to assemble and to get combat-ready. The Army was composed of Omanese troops and Albanian officers. After about 10 minutes, the 'Yard'(as the soldiers called it) was filled with 50,000 Infantry troops, with the omanese Artillary, Tank, and Air divisions forming in their respective parts of the base.

ENCRYPTED (armed convoy, with C4 attached to the telegram just incase someone tries to intercept it :rolleyes: ) telegram that was sent to the N.Orleans Governing body in Yemen:

11th Army has deployed and is awaiting instructions. Anti-missles have been deployed and a second wave of Anti-missles are being preped right now. All divisions have deployed, and all fighters scrambled. If you wish for us to meet for better coordination, please specify so.

Soon after, a telegram came back detailing the need for order in the streets of the neighboring city of Saana. General Sigurimi ordered a division of 10,000 men to restore order and orginize traffic to the bomb shelters. within 10 minutes, the First of the ospreys landed on top of buildings, letting its occupant troops enter the streets from the roof-access on the buildings. Unfortunately that was not enough. As more ospreys began to land, the ICBMs slammed into the city, wrecking dozens of ospreys and killing over 1,000 troops.



-Saudi Arabia, 'Empty' Quarter-
A turban-wearing man sighed and proped his elbows up on the command table. Around him were saber-wearing Men, also in turbans and in flowing desert robes.
"The planes fly over head. our patrols have rescued the downed pilots, and based on the languages they speak, they opponents are either Sharinian or orleanian, against another زمرة or against the Whittierians."

The hall was about 2 miles long, 1/4 mile wide, and 1/4 mile deep. The general glided his thumb over the small black stone on the interface in front of himb and it displayed a sphere, with little blue and red dots chasing each other. Below, litle green dots scurried to the downed red and blue dots. he saw a crowd of Gerrn dots with an occasional Blue and Red dot waiting next to the sand dune... the sand dune that covered the base enterence/exit ramp. A hole in the sand opened, and the men clamored in. Outside in the hall, excited shouts could be hears as the men came in. A man riped the insigna off one of the prisioner's shirts and rode his camel onto the cage-like elevator and was lifted down to the general's chambers... the very bottom. he dismounted outside the heavy oaken door and entered.
"Brother! I believe we have captured one of their air marshalls!" The Captain threw the insigna onto the desk.
The general took one look at it and knew what was going on. The insigna belonged to a high-ranking Orleaner. Clearly, the orleaners wouldn't dare attack a Vineyardian faction, as they thought of them as allies, and no vineyardian faction in the desert would attack N. Orleans as they were their major supplier of food. So It had to be a fight against the Whitterians, whom the Vineyardians were at war with.

The general began to type furiously on the key board, identifying plane types, and programing the computer to flag each dot with the faction that owned it. After the projected globe shuttered, it correctly showed the plane nationalities. The general put on a worn-looking glove with some kind of easily bendable, but shiny metal accross the index finger and middle finger. At the end of each, a small glass bubble, each with a kind of azure gas swirling inside. The general extended the gloved hand into the sphere and selected the anti-aircraft batteries that were beneath the sand with his middle finger. Then using his Index finger pointed at a Whitterian fighter. In the space of a second, the computerized (un-manned) anti-aircraft batteries extended their missle posd out of the sand and shot a stream of homing missles at the fighter the general had selected. As quickly as they emerged, they submerged. The general grinned as he saw small yellow dots shoot out at(and follow) the red whitterian dot. Without waiting to see the outcome, he selected the anti-aircraft again and selected another fighter. The general, using both fingers placed his fingers at the edge of the hovering holographis sphere, making the air and grond zoom away from the side the fingers were pressing, moving the satilite-projected-holographic-feed sphere to another area of the empty quarter, showing a flight of bombers and their fighter escorts heading for yemen. He grinned to himself, looked at his younger sibbling and nooded to another glove. He would try to turn the tide of the air war.

Admiral Herchuck chuckled to himself softly. The poor 6th army general had woken up in Elba only to see the entire Croatian Fleet surrounding the island. The Admiral's Interface beeped and the upper part of General Pambino appeared in hollographic form.

"Oh, sorry about that. I was going to tell you that I was comming, but my satilite network was hacked by some dumbass soldier. We.... quickly fixed the problem." General Herchuck placed his thumb on the black-stone interface to a prision cell where a Military Computer Engineer was being whipped for his incompitance.
"...Well. What is it that you want?"
"You assurances that you are still a patriot."
"Of course I am."
"So you will follow me, the Last Grand Marshall of the Empire?"
"Of course... My Lord" The immage bowed slightly. Admiral herchuck thought he saw the corner of Pambino's mustache twitch with distaste.
"Very good then. Order your army North. Secure the alps. We have reason to believe that TG6R will attempt to attack. And gather the local Alpine militia. Their expertise in mountain warfare would be most useful in the event of an attack."

"Of course. it is still intact. Dispatch the Military Engineers, Italy division to patch it up and improve it."

The Beduwin general had Colonel Henders brought down to his office.

Before Colonel Henders could reply the general cut him off. ".. In order to avoid any unplesentries to any of your men, we will free them. However, we have reason to believe some whitterians may be fluent in English and mix into your ranks. Therefore, My younger brother" The general nodded to the man whom had ripped the insigna off Colonel Henders shirt "...and his men will bring you to the 'hold' so you can identify your men so that they may be properly released. The vacent District 7 is being prepared for your men, and hot meals and camel's milk issued to your pilots. District 7 is one of many 'towns' in this base, and includes quarters, an armory, bathrooms, computer access level 4 (e-mail, base notices,etc.. the security access of a standard Croatian Officer), and a messhall. There is room enough to house around 5,000 men. If you need anything, come back here." The general smiled at Colonel Henders and sat down.
"You can leave whenever you like unless you have something to say."
The general leaned over and activated the Auto-fire system in the Anti-air turrets across the Empty Quarter. The computer took over and began to fire at any whitterian aircraft that came in range of the turrets. The general glided his thumb over the Black Stone once again, and the sphere dissapated.ooc: The Herchuck part is applacible to World events.

He hung up and looked around. Perfect. The imperal guardsmen were securing the room, and had already restrained Leah.

Hotel security began to run down an asile when they saw the guards men at the other in. Two were gunned down and the rest hid behind the wall, exchanging fire with the guards.

"Aye, help me up these stairs." The guards men grasped his arms and helped him climb the stairs. Everyone else backed up the stairs, guns pointed towards their rear.

"ARRGGGHHHH!" another soldier fell out after being hit in the sholder. The men inside the ospreys were now shooting our the building windows, hoping to catch at least some snipers. General komesar and leah were escorted into different ospreys and birds one and two lifted off.

They had served their purpose. they had delayed the enemy long enough. The two cars in the rear Turned suddenly, amking a road block. Several police cars slamed into them, blowing up. The remaining poliece cars swerved around the werckage only to find that the rest of the convoy had deployed into battle formation. About 3 men were firing out of a roof hatch, 5 from the gon slots, the Turret manned by the car gunner (sporting a heavy machiene gun) had begun to fire as well, and the rest had gotten out and had begun firing from the other side of the vehicules.They knew they would die, but they would not be alone.

Komesar looked out the right window (the side openings had closed) an saw a homing missle ram into the back of an osprey, sending it crashing to the ground. He only saw two people pull themselves out of the wreckage before they flew out of sight.

-IC- Troops in northern italy retreated back 4 miles to the airfeild, where big C-17s awaited them. Most were given parachutes, while around 1 million troops stayed behind to moniter the situation with USSNA, ocupying the trenches that were dug in the case of war.

-Over Iraq-
Citizens came out of their homes and into the streets due to the ground rumbling, only to find nearly a million planes streaming in from the north, landing at massive airfeilds built long ago for such an occasion. Soon, C-17s began to land, while others stoped to refuel and flew east. The local militia's were summoned, armed, and were formed into a 100,000 man army outside of bhagdad. The Beduwin corp came out of their hidden desert base to march north, into iraq. War was brewing. And already birds flew north, away from the comming conflict, feeling it was to be one of epic proportions.

On other C-16's hundreds of thousands of mobile anti-missle systems were deploied using parachute around iraq and distributed to the forming armies. gen. turnmanstazi was seen furiously pulling on his thin beard at such a sight.ooc: I was preparing for war when john put a monkey-wrench into my plans. So, Oraslav choked to death in his own limo, and the trade minister was executed by: "Shoving large amounts of olives down his throat."(Quote from official records)

The guy traveled away from the plane for a reason (plus, I NEVER posted the distance of the plane before this post anyway, so your one-mile remark isn't based on anything I posted), you know... (Besides, what are you complaining about if you want the guy dead anyway?)

And it's not "you". It's an expert sniper with the most accurate semi-auto sniper rifle in the world (the PSG-1), shooting from around 500 meters away (not going to give an exact distance because I don't want to waste time on RPing the killing of someone already dead).

After extensive record searching through files from the temporarily defunct nation of Vineyard, the real heir was deterimined. Biological profiles from the Croatian Census of 2005 show that Lord Vineyard II has a sister named "Ashley Vineyard". As mentioned before, WE WILL NOT recognize any future leader of the monarchy of Vineyard whose herity is not connected to the Royal Family, except in the event of no heirs. Our database traces Ashley Vineyard to Sharinan New York, and is currently traveling to Germany on completely unrelated "matters"* as we speak.

*OOC: I'm not going to disclose why she's traveling even to all government employees, so that leaves no chance of defection. ;)

Vinny's gov. is in turmoil due to some deaths and assasination attempts and it has basically broken up into various "camps" ruled by various Generals. Meanwhile, the leader of Whittier was assasinated. Sensing a "vacuum" in the middle east, Norleans launched an invasion of Iran and UAE. To counter the invasion, the U.N. sent TG6R mercenaries into Iran to defend the country and stablize it. An heir of the the Whitterian head of government is "ruling" for "exile" in Iraq. Mauiwowee has taken control of Whittier's South Pacific lands on behalf of the U.N. pending stabilization of Whittier's government. Warta Endor is attempting to work with the U.N. and stablize Quatar and maybe Afghanistan, but having trouble getting around Norleans. Norleans, in the mean time, has discovered the conquest of Iran won't be as easy as anticipated. Vineyard is supporting Norleans in the war to the extent it can, but in it's fractured state, internal squabbles are causing some difficulties. Sharina isn't doing anything but staying out of it all.

I dunno, but I'm still here (sorta). Most of my RP time is being used for Earth 1900-2000, an alternate history RP project that starts in the year 1900. Right now its in the year 1932 - 1933.

I do check here once in a while to see if anything new crops up or takes place, but I haven't seen any major RP's or anything that requires Sharina intervention or activity. Sharina has pretty much stayed out of European, African, and Asian affairs for the whole duration that my nation has been in Earth V.

Those RP's like the railroad thing can be done in a pinch. However, keep in mind, I'm still somewhat busy in RL, with my new job, my new cochlear implant, and the "hearing" therapy sessions. So pretty much the only time I have to do truly major RP's is on the weekends or if I have nothing to do at my job (finish projects early or whatever).

A spokeswoman for the airline, Trans-Carib Air, has said that they believe that several of the crew may still be alive. In World of Warcraft:
Currently I am organizing a large-scale raid on the Molten Core. My commander, whom i have been serving as a sort of second-in-command Major-Domo, is moving to Florida this week, making me the head of a small army full of about 100 people. Unfortunately, they are not exactly united and are attempting to take advantage of the situation by demanding more loot from the raids for their peticular guilds. I have to sort that out, as the guild to which I belong is very small and lacks influence. Then, there is this little twit who sabotauged us last week, and we lost a lot of men in that massacare. I barely made it out alive. So I am currently also pacifying the army and trying to enforce some sort of Dicipline. I am also implementing a new command structure, hopefully to make things more efficent.

On top of that, a lot of people rallied around me last week when I had to wrestle us out of that ambush. They are trying to create a new guild with myself amungst the leadership, and we are trying to iron out those details.

Well, Civ 4 can be somewhat troublesome to get to run correctly depending on video cards. I had to spend two days figuring out the right setup for my video card.

If you have an Intel video card (Dell computers have them), you're probably out of luck.

The former Whittier republic of Grenada has flexed its muscle for the first time today when it landed troops on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.
40,000 troops from the former Whittier garrisons on Grenada were involved in the operation.
Grenada's seccesionist Governor said the actions were being taken inconjunction so as to strengthen the security and interests of his seccessionist republic.

General Cedras II, angrily pulled the trigger, sending the lethal bullet that killed the 18 year old female secretary. She was good in bed but she had made the mistake of bringing bad news. Those who brought bad news to the General always ended up dead.
He had just received news that Norleans had recognized yet another seperatist movement, the so called Persian Gulf Republic. It was not supposed to be this way. In the wake of his planned assasination of Brezhnekov, there was supposed be chaos and disorder and violent anarchy. There were supposed to be celebrations when he took over and “restored” order. Only when he had taken over the entire UPR and killed off every single Brezhnekov would his father’s death be fully avenged.
First Susa, then Grenada, then the Caucasus, and now the Persian Gulf territories. And his business relations with Governor Omar, the governor in exile for the UAE territory, were cool.
At least only Norleans recognized the separatists. But in due time, he would militarily force all former UPR territories back under his rule. And he would destroy Norleans, he thought.
At least even Norleans had not yet formally recognized the independence of the self declared Caucasus Republic. And he intended to keep it that way and he had just the right plan for it…..

Evelynn was in a good mood. First talks with Norleans had succeeded. Then some of the Vineyardian sanctions had pledged their allegiance to her. She had secured her state’s independence but she still had to contend with the regime to her north. A regime she refused to deal with or recognize. So far, 4 other provinces had followed in her steps. But she didn’t care bout them. She only cared about securing land for herself and declaring herself queen. They say hindsight is always 20 20. Brezhnekov was told that his daughter was too young for such a position but the spoiled young teen girl had prevailed upon him into supporting her candidacy. And now she had written half a substantial portion of the mother land.
Her brother Victor was the head of the evil northern regime.
Her other siblings, Sarah, Elizabeth and her mother Rachel had fled into exile. It was not known what nation they had fled to. Rumor was`that they were hiding in the mountains of east Iran, near Afghanistan.

But he was just too busy keeping things calm and stable in Afghanistan. He thought the recent decrees from Tehran were most unusual but thought nothing more because they were lawful due to the fact they came from someone with higher rank than his. We have just learned that Victor Brezhnekov is no longer in power but has dissappeared out of Tehran.
General Krathmer, one of the leaders of the coup that for the past year had been using Victor Brezhnekov as a puppet leader, has declared that the Generals will take direct control of the government from this point on.
This appears to be a response to news that Victor's long lost brother, Samson Brezhnekov, has been found working as a grunt in the front lines of the Phillipines and is now making his way back to Tehran with the support of most of the military's rank and file.
We have a bio on Samson now, he is 8.5 feet tall, with brown eyes and black hair and very muscular. People in his unit say he is capable of knocking down a tree with one swift kick and has recieved a Golden medal recently for taking down 75 men in direct confrontational hand to hand combat. He also has 25 courtmartials for refusing to carry out executions and tortures of civilians suspected of espionage or sabotage and he has been whipped with a cane 567 times one day for refusing to beat and torture unarmed enemy POW's, choosing to take the beating instead.
He has just come out in the light of day and already he has the Whittier armies in the Pacific behind him. Especially the army of the Phillipines.
The generals in charge of the new government in Tehran are said to be shutting down the city and ordering hundreds of thousands of reinforcements from units that loyal only to them. They are also laying down land mines and booby traps and having police bust down the doors of Brezhnekov supporters to seize them and kill them.

Duke Long walked out of the antebellum mansion and got into his Porsche Boxster. As he did so he was thinking of the drive back to New Orleans. This had been one of his "special" trips for business without the lady Firebhrand and he had driven his favorite car rather than use the official limo. That was the one thing he missed as the leader of Norleans: the freedom to drive himself anywhere, anytime he chose. So much security, pomp and cirmcumstance swirled around him in his position that it was a rare privilege when he got to drive his own car and so today was going to be a special treat - zooming back over the swamps in his Porsche at 100 mph or more. He looked forward to it.
He waved back to his host and hostess, Don Delacourte and his wife and got in the car. It had been a most profitable trip and his share from the Recording contracts in Nashville had worked out to a cool 18.3 million, and that was only for the last two fiscal quarters of the year. Country music was hot and the Delacourte's were doing well in Nashville, obviously. He put the key in the ignition and turned it ::::: BOOOMM!! ::::::

The explosion blew out every window in the house and knocked the Delacourtes down. Don Delacourte's eardrums were shattered and he would never regain full hearing. The flying car shrapnel missed decapicating his wife by mere inches, and she would always have a scar on the otherwise beautiful face. Duke Huey P. Long, III, 17 year undisputed ruler of Norleans and head of the families? Well, they found his left arm about 50 yards from where his car had been parked, the rest of his body was apparantly vaporized. Duke Long was dead, and a power struggle in the families was about to begin.

The phone rang and Don Giavanni DaVinci picked it up. A male voice said "it's done." Don DaVinci hung up the phone and smiled. It was going to be an interesting year.

I'm looking forward to how this RP pans out. I might have a surprise or two but I'm not sure where or how this assassination will effect Sharina as it is Norlean's neighbor.

OOC: Sharina, our relationship will not be affected in any significant fashion (unless you do something really off-the-wall). This is primarily meant to affect the war in the Middle East. Some family members are kinda pissed about how poorly the war is going for Norleans and all of them are concerned about the formerly "neutral" stance Norleans had maintained until this war. Support Kathleen Prizzi (Don of South Dakota and the only female Don) or the Lady Firebhrand directly and there will be no problems at all. Support another Don and we'll have to see what happens. :). I'm still working on some of the characters, but have a HUGE post in the works regarding the families and their members and the outcome of the RP is still not settled in my mind yet.

The Lady Firebhrand was eating breakfast when the call came in from the Gator Guard:

"Lady Long?"

"Yes Daniel. I recongize your voice. What is it?" the Lady Long said.

"Mam, I hate to be the one who tells you this, but Duke Long has been killed."

"What? Daniel, what kind of Bullshit are you playing at?"

"No Bullshit Lady Long, Huey was assassinated. We're still after the details, but his car blew up as he was leaving Lafayette this morning, about 15 minutes ago. The press is not aware yet, but I give them less than an hour before they arrive."

The Lady Long said "hang on Daniel" and set the phone's handset down on the marble end table. The day she had feared, dreaded and worried about the most had begun. God's answer to her prayer for her beloved husband had been a resounding "NO!" She picked up the handset. Daniel, stall as long as you can. Close the area for investigative reasons, tell the press there was a gas leak, whatever. Just keep the public announcement of Huey's murder out of the press for as long as you can. I have some things I need to do before it is announced on the worldwide news."

"I'll do my best mam." said Daniel.

The lady Long was ready to sit and grieve for days, such was her love for Huey, but she was not an idiot either. Her grief could wait. The future of Norleans and the families was at stake now. She would cry, cry herself a river (as the song went), but she would do it later, in private. Right now a nation faced chaos - she had to stop it before it began lest all Huey had tried to accomplish was lost forever.

OOC: Yes, and it looks like things are starting up again... So, let's actually get some major event rolling! Los!*
