For those of you new Space Nations, life can be tough. If you're just emerging now all the good territory is taken, and there are lots of big people out there who can push you around. For the old guys there are lots of competitions, territory claimed by two nations, endless wars, and trade stifling. Well, we are here to propose an end to this. A Galactic Alliance, a governmental body that will help smooth out the inter-stellar pathways, and help the new guys along. Unlike the U.N. on Earth, the Galactic Alliance will not rely on the powers of it's member nations to get things done. it will have it's own army, and it will have it's own trade fleets, repair depots, and everything else. it is not here to rule you, but to help you. All nations are welcome, and we have a loose constitution to help smooth out the differences between member nations. If you have read, and accept the constitution, you're in.

Galactic Alliance

Article 1:
Each member must adhere to Alliance laws and mandates.

Article 2:
Each member maintains control over their territory, as long as it does not conflict with Article 1.

Article 3:
Any technological developments or creations from before joining the Alliance is strict property of its creator, shared only at his/her wishes.

Article 4:
Any technological developments or creations from after joining the Alliance are shared with all.

Article 5:
Any warship constructed using technology obtained from the Alliance is an Alliance ship, being under the command of all members. It shall be crewed by people from all members, and subject only to the orders of the Alliance.

Article 6:
All members must give all other members free passage and trade to their systems.

Article 7:
If a member is in trouble which he/she is not responsible for, all other members are required to pledge any support they can.

Article 8:
The Alliance may only embark on a course of action after it has been approved by all members.

Article 9:
No one in the Alliance may cause harm to another member, unless there is just cause, upon which they will be expelled from the Alliance.

Article 10:
Any member may propose a change to the Articles, and may propose a new law at any time. These shall come into effect immediately upon the ratification by all active member nations within a length of time specified at the time of proposal.

Well you have to give me your soul.......

Nope. The GA is meant to support its members, rather than the other way around. We make our own space fleet, have our own trade laws, negotiate our own treaties, etc. Members have to do almost nothing while they get tremendous military, economic, and emotional support.

His Majesty, Emperor Gustav Alderman I, proposes holding a summitt for Galactic Alliance members sometime in the near future. The conference would be held on Proxima Centauri in the Alpha Centauri System, and would be in Imperial Center in the city of New Koln. We would of course be willing to provide security and other needs to any members. The Empire of Valinon has been isolationist for far too long, and we look forward to starting a new era of openess across the Empire and the Five Worlds.

Traditionally, only Kloner or I introduced members, but that's a tradtion, not a law. Anyone can welcome in a new member as long as they're a space nation and agree to the constitution.

A council sounds good, but would take away from the GA's design style of every member having an equal voice, unless they do something EXTREMELY stupid.

Since it was seconded in the first thread I would like to add a poll for the Activity Monitor article.

Here it is again:
Every nation must post in this thread or a thread created specificaly for the purpose every X days, if after X days the nation has not responded then attempts to contact the nation are made, if after Y days the nation does not respond the nation is listed as 'inactive' and more contact attempts are made. If after Z days the nation still does not respond then it is removed from the GA member list.

Provisions would be made for such things as vacations, emergencies, and all that.

Anyways this would be a great time to anounce a new tech, which by law I must share with you. We all know about the sheer awesomeness of the Ministar engine, well now We've finally made the ministar 2. We took the same principal as the 1st version and made it WAY better. Instead of using a large portion of energy and time activating the nebula gas fuel of the 1st engine, the M2 uses a high powered tractor beam to suck running reaction straight out of a sun, then just throw in any other hydrogen/helium from any other sorce and use the already flowing power to densify it. This creates more and more energy until finally it's reaches a point where any more and the reactor will explode. That point is about 30 times the power of the first ministar.

(Thanks I spent all of 5 minutes working out the physics for this.)

I dont really fear biological weapons anyways there not a large threat considering my massive sensor arrays surrounding my system. (that and the fact that most the people on my planet would just go get their bio suits on and live life like normal anyways. smart governments allways win.)

If you noticed, when all the nations were about to go to war, they didn't because they obeyed the GA constitution. I think we're going to last for a long time.

Cool, The GA is looking into new avenues of exploration across the Galaxy. We want to expand. I want to charge you with preparing a small GA fleet and going off into the wild black yonder. To do the Star Trek thing, and come back with tales of new systems and lands. And in return, be awarded some of those lands. WIll that do?
