Just a little idea I had when I was having dinner. I thought to myself, "We have hundreds of people on this forum? How many are single? How many are just looking for a little bit of fun." Then I thought: "NS Dating Service!"

Find your online match...online!

This will be like a personals ad in a newspaper or magazine. You put down your interests, what you are looking for in a boyfriend/girlfriend, and...bingo! Maybe we can get some people to "click"!

Who'd like to start?

NOTE: Don't start with the "OMG u such a nerd, drooling over online gurlz! get a LIFE!!!!!11one!" I don't need that. I just thought this would be a good idea.

Dear me oh my, my interests~

Well, I am a passionate gourmand, gourmet chef, amateur resturaunt critic and cigar aficionado.

I'm a sensualist romantic degenerate with a streak of narcissism.

I collect designer clothing with an emphasis on handmade garments.

I have broad interests in literature, particularly german literature.

I have a large collection of books and a growing collection of old books and first editions.

My favorite authors are Hermann Hesse, Kurt Vonnegut, Alexandr Solzhenitsyn, Gabriel Garica Marquez, Friedrich Nietzche, HL Mencken and Kyril Bonfilglioli.

The political ideology which most closely approximates my own ideas about how a state is best run is socialism, specifically I favor the scandinavian model.

I am an atheist and identify most with taoism or buddhism.
I am a good writer.

I'm studying finance and several languages and plan to attend law school.

I enjoy travel and fountain pens and am an anglophile.

I have very broad interests in music and frequent the symphony orchestra.

I made up a wonderful list of things that I dont like and posted it in a thread about things that people dont like. It is as follows:

Monkeys i hate more than anything else in the world, it is a physical anger that they inspire in me.

I dont like most americans.

I dont like russians.

I dont like most israelis.

I dont like american christians.

I dont like social conservatives.

I dont like postmodernism.

I dont like contemporary art.

I dont like people who dress like they are playing golf when they arent playing golf.

I dont like conservatives of any stripe under the age of 25.

I dont like protestantism.

I dont like american automobiles.

I dont like americans with accents from the south or midwest.

I dont like the south or midwest.

I especially dont like texas and florida.

I dont like crunk 'music.'

I dont like getting less than eight hours of sleep.

I dont like (or eat) fast food.

I dont like vegans.

I dont like people who won't drink alcohol.

I dont like anarchists.

I dont like libertarians.

I dont like communists.

This is a tremendously long post and I am a tremendously great person.

I don't like Americans.

I don't like tater tots.

I don't like innuendo.

I don't like music.

I don't like Darwin, evolution, or social darawinism, or creationism. Or science. Or religion. Or philosophy.

I don't like people who don't claim to be from Tajikistan.

I don't like people who write a long list of things they don't like.

Um... isn't there some handy form to fill out? I'm incredibly lazy.

In the lack of the presence of a form:

I'm Calire, and I'm 16.
I love languages: especially Romantic ones; Italian, Spanish, French... I'm learning French, Spanish, and Latin.
I'm a writer and a poet. I aspire to have a novel published and a movie made of one of my screenplays, but I'm counting my chickens before they've hatched. I mainly write poetry like this (http://allpoetry.com/Poem/971301)... I'm quite the poetic person.
I like being a typical American girl... entrepreneuring, ambitious, and independent. I'm also very sarcastic... and my favorite word, sardonic.
I'm vain-- I like to think I'm very pretty, though I'm not photogenic. My best features are my eyes, which change from day to day (grey, green, blue) and my hair, which is currently brown with streaks of blond and red.
I've probably forgotten many things about myself, because I'm very forgetful like that, but you can TM me for more information. ;)

Hell, I started this thing, might as well do my own.

I'm a high-schooler. My interests are gaming, web-surfing, writing (read my stuff on fanfiction.net), drawing, and...learning. I am a student after all. I seem to have a thirst for knowledge.

I'd say I'm good looking...in that "y'know" kinda way.

What I'd look for in a girlfriend? Someone who'd make me laugh, and could laugh with/at me.

Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun.

Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.

This planet has -- or rather had -- a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.

And so the problem remained; lots of the people were mean, and most of them were miserable, even the ones with digital watches.

Many were increasingly of the opinion that they'd all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. And some said that even the trees had been a bad move, and that no one should ever have left the oceans.

Don't come down on my account.

I know how you feel! French is mandatorily taken in the Canadian school system until grade nine - I went on into grade ten, but I never had the occasion to use it since - I find myself competing for vocabulary now! I really want to take some language night classes though. Im particularly interested in French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, and Czech. :)

Take Italian, its very seductive (not that you need it love!). I see you are from BC, I'm from Toronto, so we're in the same manditory language boat. I actually go to Quebec all the time, and adore it, but can't get a word of French out when on the spot. It's intimidating.

Non potrei accosentire di piu con voi! ;)

I am of Italian roots, so I want to learn that language really more than all the rest as it will help me to better communicate with my grandfather. He does speak english, but it is broken and soft (not that his Italian is much better from what I've been told! I guess it doesn't help when youve been in an English speaking country for so long!) I get sooo intimidated when I try to converse with people in another language - in most cases I really try to avoid it. I hope that if I get to know some of these languages better though, that it won't be a problem.

Oh, and thank you for the compliment! That was very kind of you! Its always nice to meet another Canadian in these forums - in particular ones who are as charming as you! :)

Lord, you do take your sexy languages seriously. I'm taking Latin at the moment, though I can't speak it, I can recite the Aenied. I took Spanish for two years, can't remember anything, took Mandarin in grade 4, and can only remember how to sing "the more we get together" in it. Oh, and I know a handful of important getting around phrases in all sorts of langauge. After all, in Toronto, if you can't say "excuse me" in a few different languages, you're going to get crushed.

Actually it's a crappy dishwasher and the dishes have to be pretty clean in the first place. Terry didn't do them yesterday, so Steve doesn't think he should do them today. The rule is that I only go in the kitchen once a week. I do other things around the house, but I have a kitchen allergy. :p

Um... isn't there some handy form to fill out?

I've probably forgotten many things about myself, because I'm very forgetful like that, but you can TM me for more information. ;)

I was less hungry on Wellbutrin. And crying can actually be a sign of depression lifting sometimes. When severely depressed I'm too dead inside to cry. I just feel like an empty zombie. I hope you feel better, don't forget to discuss this with your doctor as soon as possible. :fluffle:

I suppose I shall have to be original in this personal. . . .

General

I enjoy philosophy (especially of the Classical period); I enjoy chess; also most genres of literature (anything before 1960, really); the study of ancient and Napoleonic history, politics, and science.

Political

I am a staunch conservative - too much of Rush Limbaugh, however, is too much. I am a quasi-admirer of George Bush (as long as he remains socially conservative). One of my favorite activities is taking shots at blood-sucking liberals.

I'm pro-life, against gay marriage and euthenasia - in simple terms: I am a staunch conservative, an anti-globalist, and an unshakable idealist. (Ask me why, if you're interested.)

Cultural

Being naturally skeptical, I dislike the concept of "alternative medicine," however, this is not to say that I don't know the FDA is alternatively pocketed by several large drug corporations.

Being an historian, I have been forced into contact with many societies - my principal cultural interests are in modern British and Greek culture. (This is totally disconnected from my history studies, mind you.)

I'm an American citizen, although I have Scottish, French, Spanish, English, Dutch, and possibly Icelandic blood in my veins. (I speak Latin, a little Spanish, and a little French.)

Personal

I'm a hopeless Romantic and I love deep, meaningful, intellectual conversations.

I'm not religious, per se, although I consider myself something of a nominalist, definitely a cohesive realist, and a disciple of Socrates, in many ways.

There's a lot more, but I'll let you go with that for a while. ;)

There's a lot more, but I'll let you go with that for a while. ;)

Yes and perhaps you could state some of the most helpful information. Like gender and sexuality. Good ad though. :)

I don't expect anyone here to be intrested in me, so I'm just posting this because I'm bored and it might be fun to see people's reactions:

I'm a 16 years old male, and I live in Sweden. I'm quite nerdy and very "weird". I have pretty good self-control, something that is neccessary, because if I acted as weirdly as I sometimes think... No comment. (sometimes I wonder whether my thoughts are crossing the border to insanity or not, but if they do, I don't give a damn. In fact, I WANT my thoughts to be a little insane sometimes, as long as I keep them somewhat under control)

It should also be noted that I am extremely absent-minded. For example, I often miss special events in school, since I forget about them just a few minutes after being told about them, and then I don't even think about them again until it's too late. When I'm really intrested in something however, I can remember it for a long time. Heck, I remember the worlds of all intresting games I have played up to this point in fairly good detail. (the same goes for all the intresting game-music I have heard up to this point)

I think logically far more than most people, and while I understand that people react in particular ways to different situations, I fail to understand why, in some situations, "normal" people react in such irrational, and often destructive and pointless ways.

I like altering my thought patterns, since it allows me to change my reactions to different situations however I want. An example of this is nearly completely getting rid of my conscience, which by the way mainly concists of several thought patterns related to guilt feelings. I find feelings of guilt to be completely pointless, and and have therefore replaced them with logical thinking, much like many thought patterns related to pointless, irrational morals that I have been force-fed with until about half a year ago, when I really began thinking independently.

I'm intrested in gaming, programming and scripting, web design, reading fantasy and science fiction, listening to and DSP-processing music, participating in online communities, a little philosophy and psychology, screwing around with my thoughts, fantasizing, and discussing things I find intresting. And that's basically it, with a few small exceptions.

Random things worth mentioning:

In most situations, I'm a loving, caring, and quite emotional person. However, whenever I have a hard time emotionally, most of my emotions and my emotional response to different situations stops functioning, and cold logical thinking takes over.

I have two different world views, but they are slowly fading together. One with a weird spiritual belief that I have been developing myself, (I call it fREaKy Belief) and the other one is made purely using logical thinking from countless different points of view. (according to the second worldview, nothing has any value in itself, btw. I do, howver, concider myself holy just for fun, as well as the fact that doing so gives me another reason to laugh insanely during my freetime. Atleast I think it does)

I try my best to be as open-minded as possible. If someone has anything to say, I will attempt to analyze it from a neutral point of view and then weight it against my current opinion and/or belief, and then change it if I find it better than what I currently believe.

I'm lightly asocial, and like being alone a lot. I do like being together with my (few) friends from time to time however. I'm currently not actively searching for a suitable female with a personality compatible to mine, but I will probably do so in the future, and if I find one, I wouldn't have anything against living together with her. Until then however, once I move in the future, I plan to live partially like a hermit, sitting in front of my computer alone nearly all day, doing various nerdy things, and mainly go out to buy food.

I eat lots of candy, popcorn, and other tasty stuff, and drink lots of soda.

I have asperger, which might explain some of my personality and "weirdness". I also have tourette, but the only way that's noticeable is that I get tics whenever I get unusually happy.

Hair: Fairly long, dark blonde and very curly
Eyes: Change from brown to green but generally hazel. I usually wear glasses but sometimes wear contacts.
Figure: 5' 6", curvy figure, 9st 9(ish)
Nationality: British
Religion: Agnostic
Political Leaning-Left definitly with a mix of democratic, socialist and liberal views....
Music tastes-Very very wide range, the only thing that really annoys me is opinion stated as fact and I tend to lean away from pop music.

I'm empathetic and understanding, a good listener and kindhearted. I'm sensitive but strong-willed and determined. I enjoy simply having a good time. I am sentimental and reflective but also logical and practical. I'm intelligent and like serious discussion but I also enjoy random, friendly chit chat. I'm fairly academic and good at maths and science but also quite creative and enjoy art along with writing poetry and stories. I'm interested in psychology and hope to take a career in that area. I like analysing myself and other people. I enjoy learning new things and like to understand new concepts. I'm always looking forward to new experiences and am a slight thrill seeker. I love sarcasm and irony but also go in for crazy random humour. I like both the romantic and flirtatious side of a relationship. Happiness and friendship are the most important things in my life. I spend far too much time on the computer. I enjoy reading and listening to music. I love walking through beautiful scenery. I'm quite passionate but also slightly lazy and an awful procrastinator. I enjoy clothes but not fashion. I like a wide variety of food, especially spicy food. I don't drink or smoke and wouldn't want to. At the moment I'm pretty happy and content with myself and with life.

I dislike stuck up, bigoted, ignorant, cruel, patronising, bland or shallow people. In a man I like intelligence, good sense of humour, someone who's caring, excitement and mystery.... all those things I can find attractive. I tend to go for men with brown hair or brown eyes. I would need someone easy to chat to and who I feel comfortable around, someone who is interesting to talk to and can deal with all my various sides.

I'm still in school and live in a village in West Sussex, England. I plan to go to a college in a town nearby next year and study Psychology, Health and Social Care and I then have to choose between Maths, Biology, Art, English and Philosophy....

Well, that's about all I can think of for now.

Um... isn't there some handy form to fill out?

I've probably forgotten many things about myself, because I'm very forgetful like that, but you can TM me for more information. ;)

I forgot to add a few things...
The rest of my poetry is on here (www.allpoetry.com/poets/flaming sky) ... I used to write on fictionpress.com, but that was when I was 13, and that's mostly embarrassing things. Also, I'm a staff writer at my community college... I'm (sort of) authentically published!

The things I look for in a guy are: attractive voice and looks... I'm so shallow... wit, intelligence (so we can have a good conversation), at least some extrovertedness... and other things that may come to me later. Bah, I'm so forgetful.
I love phone conversations, so if you're not afraid of stalkers and/or a large phone bill, you could call me up. One of the things I pay attention to the most in a guy is his voice... and I could listen to a nice one for ages.

Important Information Added Here:
I'm a libertarian...

My name is Ryan ... and I'm an alcoholic. I've been off the wagon for twenty-nine years. Or on it. Or something, I wasn't really paying attention, in fact I am only 17.

Well, I'm not really an alcoholic. In fact, I don't particularly like alcoholic beverages. On special occasions (New Years, birthdays, major events) I like to have a few sips of wine, scotch, or one of the classier alcohols, but I can't stand the flavor of beer. I don't smoke or do drugs or any of that nonsense, as I have never really felt the need. Needless to say, I am not the most Epicurian or Bacchan of fellows you might stumble across.

I speak Spanish semifluently and am teaching myself Japanese. I also know a bit of Old English, for some bizarre reason. I have a tendency to be a bit socially awkward, because most of my mores and ideals are slightly Victorian in relation to popular culture and I have obsessive-compulsive and mildly germophobic tendencies.

My interests are anything that keeps me engaged for more then a few consecutive minutes, as I have the attention span of your average American teenager, which isn't saying much. I like playing, composing, and listening to music, namely Jazz and Classic Rock, though anything that doesn't suck will do nicely.

I'm smart enough to realize that I am not smart enough to know enough about politics to argue about it, so I don't even bother. I don't view myself as conservative, liberal, Republican, Democrat, moderate, third party, or anything of that bullshit. I don't subscribe to the idea of a political spectrum at all, except for the vague purpose of comparison (i.e. "He is more to the left then me"). I also enjoy classical allusions that many people do not quite understand, such as referring to attractive people as Vitruvian.

I am not very photogenic ... or attractive. The Anadyomenian pursuits of many of my teenage peers are beyond my comprehension. In fact, I am not much of anything. I am just tall and obviously of Slavic descent. Although, I must say that I look damn good in a blazer and slacks.

I don't have the initiative or reason to log on to the internet (and thus NS) very frequently, so if I have piqued your interest in any regard, or if you just want to ridicule a Minervan and somewhat socially awkward Czech kid, you can add "Shaka7800" to your Buddy List.

Oh, and I'm a libertarian... goddamn those stupid liberals.
I'll argue politics every day of the week, if you give me a break from it once in a while.

I'm stunned...

What the hell, why not. For shits and giggles.

My name is Frank, I'm a 16 year old Canadian male currently residing in Kingston, Ontario. Looking for, preferably, a 16 year old female ;) I'm still in high school (Grade 11 at the moment) and am, at the moment, single. My politics would be described as left-of-centre (none of the established Canadian parties fit me) and I'm a practising Roman Catholic.

I'm currently studying pretty much everything on my own time, though most of it centres around military history, politics, philosophy and theology. For fiction reading, I'm big into science fiction and alternate history - some of my more favourite authors include Harry Turtledove, Orson Scott Card, David Weber and John Ringo. Big into music (classic rock, preferably), riding my bike and writing everything from love poetry to hard science fiction. I've been known to do pot every once in awhile, but I wouldn't describe myself as a major stoner (minor... maybe).

I'm 6"4, with long-ish (about 8 inches) light brown hair, mud-coloured eyes (they go brown on the outside, to green, to grey, to blue; very weird...) with glasses, a slim figure, strong chin and rather prominent nose. Have a crappy webcam picture: http://img129.exs.cx/img129/9162/picture134wc.th.jpg (http://img129.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img129&image=picture134wc.jpg)

I spose I should say something more about myself.

My names Rich, I'm 20 and a university student studying Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent, UK.

I'm into rock music in a big way along with Ice Hockey, Pool, Poker, going out blah blah blah.

Along with being a student I'm a full time Chef at a restraunt so I'm handy with some pots and pans. I probably drink too much.

Hmmm what else, I'm 6'3" or 183cm give or take. and well I look like my pic just as long as you add about 3 years onto it. I really should get a better one really.
ahhh well :D

Name: Amy

Late on the post, this is kind of a waste of space, but meh.

I don't like anyone.
I don't like you.
I don't like your sister.
I don't like your cousin.
But I do like your mom! ;)

Heh, sorry. Just out of pure spite, I'll be serious about this. (Spite meaning, I hate relationships, not the guy or gal who started this thread.)

I'm a nerd, 13, I'm short. I have auburn hair, hazel eyes, pale skin. My hobbies include computers and being a lazy jackass.

Oh dear,
I'm a short (5'1"!) American studying International Relations (leaning towards a minor in either psychology, sociology, anthropology or Hispanic Studies) in Canada. I went to private school for two years and had the time of my life. I like to ski. I like comfortable beds and not wearing pants, in the most innocent way possible. I listen to music from ska to country to punk to metal to celtic, depending on my mood. I'm a realist and often get frustrated by idealism. I'm sick of anti-Americanism. I'll be getting at least one tattoo in the near future. I'm bored out of my mind and should be studying for a french exam. I'm very, very, good at procrastinating. I'm the president of my residence next year. I'm a miserable cook but I can grill a good steak - as long as you like it rare. I like beer. I firmly support Julia Child's ultimate meal of "red meat and a bottle of gin."

In short, I'm different I guess.

dude, chicks dig self confidence. Altho arrogance is bad.

Gotta love yourself before you can love another. When you wake up in the morning, look at yourself in the mirror and say "damn I'm fine". Give it a week and the ladies will be all over you.

Another tip, chicks relate your dancing moves to your bedroom moves, so if u learn to shake it on the dance floor that will help with the hotties ;)

I have a mirror (a big one) in my bedroom, so that's easy. I do that once in a while :)

At prom, my dancing was pretty repetitive, even though I did my best to randomize it. Basically: I'm screwed :D
