Alright...so where we stand now is:

Chris, Steven, Gabranth, and a rather mangled Simon are in the cave, really not able to leave at this point.

Marissa and Sun are trapped in an underground bunker and now are alone, with Jim and Fred going back to their families.

...and James is under the bed of a Vespian girl, lol, while across the planet, Imperial dropships are landing in an all-out planetary invasion.

Also, while the Vespians say that they're not as primitive as our character's thought, they also have been living undercover like this for centuries upon centuries. They really aren't that advanced in most aspects either. They may be able to destroy one dropship with a bit of luck and a lot of old-fashioned firepower, but there's no hope for them to survive this type of onslaught. The people will be VERY desperate.

Now, I'm willing to let you guys come up with some way to rescue Marissa and Sun if you'd want...

I actually kinda like this idea. Blastit's been wanting Chris to do something for a while. If it's ok with you all, I'd suggest that we put this RP on a relative hold as far as Marissa and Sun are concerned, until Blastit's able to log on and we figure out a way for Chris to do this. I forgot that Sun no longer has lifesigns lol...

Anyhow, Haraki, I posted...and I'll leave it up to you to decide for Simon if he wants to wear the battle armor or get medical assistance. If he puts it on, so will Steven. If he doesn't, I'll have Steven refuse.

Just so you know, if you're thinking of him putting it on, for those who are unexperienced it is ridiculously clumsy to use. Experienced soldiers think nothing of it, but I'm sure Steven and Simon would have a large amount of difficulty lol. Refer to this picture for a description if you want to make one:

Haha...ultimately it would, if he had trained with it. But it might just make him...awkwardly fast haha. More than anything it'd be good for defense. The Vespian's rifles wouldn't be able to penetrate it, and there is no way the Vespians could knock him out in hand to hand combat if he were wearing one.

Honestly at this point the story is a bit different than what I had originally planned, but works better this way given everything.

All the vials breaking was supposed to be the ending, if you had asked me a week ago, and Marissa was supposed to be alone and Steven was supposed to rescue her. As you can see, that's changed significantly lol.

While I've since adapted my "plans" so to say, I really haven't thought about where the bunker would be. Originally Steven was to see Jim outside of it, kill him, be horrified at what he did but realize that he was doing it to save Marissa, and then go in. I won't be unhappy with anything you come up with.

Also, we need to get them saved, so that Rave can post again haha.

Idea: they detect James and send a squad, complete with Simon/Steven, to find him, thinking he might be a prisoner since he's in the town. They encounter Jim on the way, and for whatever reason (you think it up, he's your character now) he runs to the bunker. Hostages, maybe? James follows him, the others show up, tense climactic showdown. Eh?

Ya...I'd anticipate the ending being something of that sort, with the unnatural twists and turns of course, lol. It'll be Gabranth's squad of course. Also, I really don't want to stay up all that much later tonight, so I'm only going to be throwing down a few more posts at the max.

Haha...lines for nameless soldiers are fine. Hell...I've been calling that one dude "Gabranth's lieutenant" the entire time, and he's had multiple lines.

And as for the brevity of this RP, it's not quite over yet, as there's still at least one big twist I have planned and the possibility of another one, and besides, it's quality over quantity. Collectively, this is one of the best written RP's I've seen, with one of the best overall plots as well, with all the characters twisting together and everything that's happening. It's a good read, and is far more novel-like or Hollywood than the dungeons and dragons-esque style a number of character RP's follow.

I've always referred to my RP's as plot-driven, not character driven, and I know I'm not the only one. The characters have to react to the plot, just as people in real life have to react to what's happening in the world around them. The plot forces reactions from our characters, it forces growth. I think it adds something that typical "character-driven" RP's don't.

Also, I'm going to post as much as necessary until the cave is destroyed, and then post one more post after that, giving away a secret and setting up something big.

Following that post, I'm getting my ass to bed lol. Rave, by tomorrow Sun should be rescued. I'm not going to have the rescue be the last thing, but instead the second to last, that way you won't be left out of the conclusion.

this one time there was a girl named rave

Something I just thought of as I walked upstairs to get some more pizza...with this RP coming to a close within *gasp* days it seems...what will follow it?

I know Rave has that prequel-ish RP with Baralai that I think you and I are both taking part in, and I have a whole shit load of things to finish. (Shadow of Orion was supposed to run beside this RP...and it has a total of two posts lol)

Still, do you all think that at some future point our characters should reunite in some sort of a sequel, or perhaps a story driven by one of you instead of me? This RP can't just be lightning in a bottle...our characters too good for just one story.

I definitely don't want these characters to just disappear. I've grown quite fond of Simon, and I like the development in James between the beginning and now. Now he's killing people with shovels and getting shot at while he runs across streets. If I reread my first post, I don't think I could ever imagine him doing that.

I was actually wondering (and asking) about the same thing myself, talking to Rave on MSN. Until I'm at least partially FT though, I can't drive a story, and we also have to remember that most of our characters are designed for a story about cultural anthropology, and just happened to be thrown into something much bigger.

Even if we just take who's left/will be being played in the future and would still get along with the others, it's a pretty specified focus for a future RP:

Well I can't quite do it alone. Haraki's taking the lead somewhat on this one...his character's are "leading the way" so to say in the rescue.

Now it's up to SB. He's the one RPing Jim, who is now inside the bunker again, hoping that his lack of vitals means he can just leave once the troopers are gone, since they won't find him.

Also, SB is roleplaying the troopers that will now find James. So it's up to SB for about a minute, then back to me (and Blastit?) I suppose.

I was with my friend longer than I anticipated lol...couldn't say it wasn't fun...:p

I'm afraid that's all I'm going to be posting tonight. As I told Rave numerous hours ago, I'm mindlessly tired and need to go to bed. On top of that, I'm not quite impressed with my level of creativity tonight, and I don't want to end the RP on less than optimum posts.

Between tomorrow (most likely) or the next day this RP is going to end. That's absolutely amazing in my eyes, considering I've had RP's lasting nearly a real-life year and this one has last a little more than two weeks. Still, it's been an amazing ride.

There's only one more real "twist" up my sleeve, and from the post I made yesterday night it should be expected by everyone OOCly. Anyhow, I'll make a few or so more posts before the ending, at which time I'll post here than I'm ready to make my last post. When that happens, I'll wait for each of you to do a wrap-up type final post, and then post mine when all the others have been posted.

I apologize for peacing out so early tonight, but if I can't give this my all because I'm exhausted, especially at a pivital point in the story such as this, I'm not going to do it. This RP deserves better, and I intend to wait until I'm able to give it such.

...laying around in my hung-over state, I just came up with the greatest sequel idea. I'm throwing around the details in my head right now, and I want to talk to Blastit about it, but I'm pretty sure I have a main idea as far as the sequel goes.

I have a few questions to ask though to help me formulate this in my head before I present it to you all.

1. When do you want this RP to take place, game-time wise? A want some amount of time to pass, so that it will make sense and so that we're not using the exact same characters. I want there to be growth in Steven at least, and that can't be instant. Should it be six months? A year? Two years? Those are really the three options I'm looking at here.

2. Will all of your characters be returning? As it stands now I'm planning on having Valkare and Gabranth play similar "a little more than supporting but not main" roles as they did in this RP, and I'm thinking of giving Steven a new partner as well. Obviously Marissa and George can't return, but I'm going to have three new characters on top of the ones I listed.

3. When do you want to start this, in real life? I know I went on and on about wanting to take a break, but fuck that haha. Whenever's cool. I just have to say that the sequel won't be able to go at the rapid pace that this one has, thanks in a large part to school and work.

Well Rave and I were saying six months would be good for our characters...but a year would probably be just fine as well, maybe better. I don't know if two years would work so well.

1. I would say 6-10 months probably. Haven't really thought beyond that.

2. Chris will probably be back, unless something changes (obvious eh?)- which is quite possible. Other than that, I may have a medic/doctor char considering we didn't have one when we shoulda the last RP lol.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Simon and James will both be back, provided they both still fit into the mission parameters and objectives. I can guarantee you Simon will be back, though, and I'd like James to be back. I like the way his character developed.

Alright...so see if you feel me on this rough outline:

The people of Akeldama are of a purely Spartan society. They are very proud almost to the point of being arrogant. In the Aldebaran System, planet Akeldama is a desert wasteland, as the star Aldebaran is slowly dying and expanding, growing larger and larger.

The Empire suspects the Akeldama of attempting to build some superweapon-type thing, so through Gabranth, General Valkare contacts Steven, telling him to assemble a team. They are to meet with the Akeldama and learn about their culture, but Gabranth also gives Steven the hidden objective of trying to get details on the possibility of a weapon. Steven gathers his friends from Vespia, and the five of them, plus some others, go to the planet Akeldama.

As I told Blastit, I think it'll be interesting making Steven be the one with alternative motives, and I plan to expand on the fight with his brother, Gabranth, a lot more. I'm also really excited about the Akeldama culture, because our characters will be interacting with them on a regular basis instead of hiding in some secret lab.

So what do you think? I say like a little less than a year after Vespia being the timeframe.

Haha...I at least read your TG. I'm thinking things over before I get in a discussion about it. I've already expanded on the sequel's plot three times over since I first posted it here and am beginning to finalize some aspects of both it, the changes in some characters, as well as the Akeldama culture.

For the rest of you, Midlonia has been officially invited by me to join the sequel, which at this point is to be named Blind Reflection: Insurrection. This adds him as to the current roster of me, Rave, Haraki, and Blastit...with DMG and New Genoa being tentitive members.

Anyhow...I should be on AOL soon to discuss this stuff with you, and you should get a telegram as well. I'm rather mid-post at the moment however.

By the way, the rest of us are probably delayed in our posting because of Rave's absence, since both of my characters are currently interacting with Sun and I'm pretty sure Blastit's was too, and not quite finished yet.

As for Rave, she's deathly ill. So until she gets better, I believe most of us are at an impassé.

As someone who had mono no less than a few months ago and was in and out of the hospital, I can understand the situation Rave's in. Perhaps I should send her a get well soon telegram.

Anyhow, there is only one more post for me to make, and it will be the final post of the thread. I posted again, and it allows your characters to continue their love triangle but still gets them off the planet. They're in a dropship now. Up until my post, I only suggest that you three wrap up this bit (i'm interested in seeing the outcome) and post somewhat of a "final post" for your characters.

As I said in a previous post, BR:Insurrection planining is coming along nicely, and should be ready to open as soon as Rave returns.

And I'm not so sure of the rating myself. I can rate it as a story (which I think I will reread it) or rate it as the RPer, which will probably be two very different scores, as some may know of my delima of the posting.
