Mmmm, nothing quite like Russian vodka. Especially the good stuff, the stuff so finely made that it doesn't even taste like anything on the way down, it's completely tasteless, odourless and colourless. Now that stuff is damn fine.

Just so you know SB, I've begun reading - please hold the applause - so I would like my shot of vodka now.

Also, I am thinking of changing my character's name before I begin writing. While Daniel's has a purpose to it (although not at all important - more of an easter egg), Anna's is just completely random and I don't like it. Well, actually it's not random - I think I chose it because I recently read a story by hispanic author Anna Maria Matute... and that infernal name got stuck in my head. So yeah... I am going to be changing Anna's...

1. Ya, good that you picked up on that. That's exactly the type of civilization I wanted.

2. For the planet that they live on, there are not as many people as you think. Also, for it being similar to America in the early 1900's, the people all seem to be connected into one planet-wide "nation," definately odd for where they are in development. Most of it is rural, although there are rather large towns and the beginnings of cities, just without the highrises and whatnot.

3. Shit...I should have re-looked over her description before I posted this. For what it's worth though, I'm going to say probably restricted to side-arms. My scientists, at least, often have pistols locked away in their stuff for personal protection, so I'm going to offer your military person the same right to bear arms. Just nothing more...because my military wouldn't like that and whatnot and I want to keep them out of the story as long as possible.

4. Communications must be high-tech enough as to not be noticed. My nation, at least, has sector-wide comm-links, video comm-links, holographic comm-links, etc. and none of those could be detected by these people. The main thing is nothing they can notice. No messenger pigeons haha ;)

Simon let loose a string of curse words that, had they not been curse words, could have melted the hearts of anyone that heard them. "I sometimes wonder why I even bother!" he shouted. "I work with idiots!"

"Attractive idiots, though," Steven said suggestively.

"I wish I could quit you," Simon replied, distraught. Tears rolled down his perfectly-formed face.

Anyhow, I updated my fleet website for the first time in like two years (not kidding...check the dates) today just in case any ship classes come up in this RP as part of the "Valkare/Bivens arguement" aspect. While the prophecy aspect of Shadow of Orion won't have anything to do with Blind Reflection directly, Shadow of Orion will provide the backdrop for how the Vespians were found and why Emperor Bivens wants the planet so much, as well as provide more insight into the political intrigue that's been going on in this thread sparringly. (i.e. the Bivens and Valkare posts.)

But that's kinda a double edged sword. Anything beyond simple AI is strictly forbidden in the Empire. For the reason why...we need a quick history lesson:

...With no one left to conquer, the Steel-Butterfly Republic looked inwards for a period of technological and economic prosperity during which the most important invention of the next century was created: artifical intelligence.

Hailed as "revolutionary," artificial and electronic intelligence, in both robot and computer form, spread throughout the Republic. Ultimately, the liberal-leaning Republic would come to recognize these AI as sentinent beings, giving them both representation and voting rights in the Republican Senate. This decision would nearly destroy all humanity on the planet.

As soon as they gained an impressive majority in the Senate, simply by replicating themselves, the AI, who refered to themselves as Machina, were quick to pass anti-human and human restricting laws. As life for humanity got worse and worse, General Jacob Hein and the soldiers under his control decided to revolt against the Machina majority. The Machina struck back ruthlessly.

For fifteen years General Hein fought the Machina, but ultimately met his end as the machines grew less and less patient with humanity's rebellion. For the five years after General Hein's gruesome death, the machines systomatically eliminated over three-fourths of the human population on the planet.

Out of nowhere, a one-time captain by the name of James Foxx majestically rose to the position of General and through quick thinking, daring tactics, and a few superior weapons, effectively eliminated all traces of the Machine Armies in under five years. Afterwards, realizing that the Machines could simply build more of themselves until they once again held the majority in the Senate, the people voted James Foxx the first Emperor, and his first job as Emperor was to outlaw AI, which he did...

That as it is, beyond autopilot in ships and video game characters in the holorooms...there isn't much in the form of AI in the Empire, and having it is just asking for a world of hurt.

Haraki I replied. Lots of lovin' in that TG, which means you have a higher debt now. I'm sure you can find some way to pay it off. Sun is going to be up early because she can't really sleep. She'll be one of the only ones left in the lab if one of you want to rp with her. She's quite sweet really...

Right now, while the forums are incredibly slow and hardly responding at all (I hope this post posts, and not twice, thrice or never) I am thinking of waiting to make a significant post until it is nighttime. Not just in real life for me (I probably will be gone soon and until after maybe nine) but in the RP. I imagine it as getting towards dusk, but I will wait until night, long after Simon is expected to be back, for him to come in and have some nice RPing then. If Sun was still up, it could work nicely. Of course, until then I think I'll do something with James. Maybe have him think/talk about his girlfriend, since Chris seems to be having issues knowing what is ... er ... socially acceptable seems to describe it fairly well.

Rave, is it ok for me to move on to the "next day" or do you still have late-night plans for Sun? I'm pretty much done with my characters as far as this day is concerned.

This is the end of the second day that we've been RPing...just for timeline's sake. For my characters at least, the first day was George going out on the observation and falling, the first night was Steven getting into shit while planting bugs, the second day was Marissa's comm not working and Steven doing the lumbar puncture, and the second night was Steven doing stuff with Sun and George being suspicious of Marissa.

"Tomorrow" will be some more of the same for my characters at least, not sure what you guys have planned or are thinking of, but "tomorrow night" is where this RP will start to pick up the pace. I believe Haraki was who said this RP is "high quality but somewhat slow." Haha...just wait...

Haha...I just had to do something about your post hating on it. It's actually very high tech and ridiculously effective, and there is no sachel or anything, but I didn't want to make you go back and change your post since I realized that I didn't really describe it all that well.

Just for future reference, the Adaptave Camouflage suit is basically full-body spandex than has been designed to take a picture on one side and project it on the other, as well as doing the opposite on the other side. It effectively gives a chameleon effect, however it is not perfect.

It is best used at far distances, when the curves of the body or other irregularities able to be detected by the human eye are far less noticable. That's why they always wear it on observations, but Steven didn't wear it when he went inside the house. It would never have adapted fast enough indoors and up close.

I figured I at least had to give some limitations to another example of SB Uberwank Tech, Inc. haha
