Well, it's good that you all had a great, drunken, slightly odd time. Enough alcohol to make you forget things is just shy of the correct amount and I would have showed you this, but hey, maybe every meeting of people doesn't mandatorily need a drunken tit.

As for my reasons - nothing as sordid as any of those suggestions (that is, if you imagine the bad haircut to be a lewd, crude representation of some bodypart) but my reason remains private. I look forward to the pictures though :)

Actually, let me rephrase that...

I really need to come to one of the meets - after all, it's not that far away!

With the people above gradually coming in, we started buying each other drinks and getting to know each others' RL personas. We had a mix of students, unemployed ex-students (some with ambitions to work behind a bar), an energy company guy, a railway industry employee, a government "statistician" :D , a conservationist (congrats on being the only one among us with a soul) and so on.

At this point, Gruenberg fell forwards on the floor, drifting in and out of consciousness face down *snip*. Yes, really. Once he was fit to walk supported, we guided him onto a train he said was his. This is why it pays to have these events close to transport links for all participants - we only had to walk a few hundred metres.

Suffice it to say, once we returned to the pub to grab Pure Metal and Glitziness, who had arrived in the meantime, we had to find a new venue.

So we ended up at some new pub, the name of which I cannot recall. The white Hats having departed well before Gruenberg's turn for the worse, and Gruenberg safely on a train home, we sat down to catch up with Pure Metal and Glitziness, who seemed like a really good match.

So, yeah - it wasn't the German wheat beer (too expensive) but the Fuller's - but otherwise, yep, I got wanged, and decided the carpet looked awful comfy. It happened quite fast: I can remember making what I thought was fairly normal (if slightly geeky) conversation for a good time, then slump... Given I didn't have that much to drink, I think it was more the combination of empty stomach (having had a drink not a bite for lunch) and maybe nervousness? (although I do emphasise that I didn't puke when I met NSers before...)

That aside, it was great to meet TG, Stalin, CD, Dunes, Rhursbourg, The White Hats, and Ollieland, and shame I missed The Happy Couple.

In conclusion, here's a good way to test whether I'm the worse for wear: if I yell, "I'M FINE...IN A MINUTE!", I'm probably fucked.

Having rather short-sightedly ridiculed I V Stalin for lack of an internet connection and having to use internet cafes. I have found myself in a similar situation, having just moved back to my university in new private accommodation and without and internet connection sorted. Ah well, at least I don't have to pay for my internet access. I can bum around on the computers in the library instead.

Hmm, I shall decide against defending White hats innocence, as it may blow my own cover. You think the next time will be a meet up? Hah, more like a round-up. We'll have you all bundled into a van and take to worst corner of Britain... Oh wait... it doesn't get much worse than Leicester.
