As I said, I don't really have anything against the pagent, and it was definitly not started by this. It's partly not even to do with appearance, but feeling generally useless at helping people I care about and doing the right things. But also feeling sick with... pretty much everything about how I look. Damn shopping trip. Had great time apart from all the mirrors and focus on bodies and appearance. Last month or so been on study leave, revising and doing exams, and mainly being with family or Huw, so been comfortable with myself and not been being judged by anyone or having much focus on how I look. Being with my (slim and gorgeous) friends and staring at my awful body all day has been a shock to the system.

Can't change the way I feel, so I'll change the way I look, I've decided. Gonna use the willpower I know I have in large amounts and get a decent figure back. If I looked like I did in that picture, I'd probably feel okay, heh. That was a year ago... Though, a few months before that I felt like I do now and regained a figure for the holiday, so I'm sure I shall do this time *nods*

Just... having a night of feeling crappy about myself in general.

Thing is, I'd agree that I'm nice and caring and things. In that sense, my selfconfidence is a million times better than a year or so ago (largely due to Huw). I just... I can't do enough to satisfy the amount I care. I can be great at giving support and advice online, but face-to-face I'm so awful at getting words out. And... oh, I'm beating myself up over stupid things. Like I forgot to charge my phone before I went away this weekend, and my phone was also going weird and wasn't ringing properly, and it resulted in me missing Huw's calls and not being around for him to chat when he really really needed my support. And he's fine, and when he could get through, I helped but... I just feel like I'm failing him in various ways. Totally blowing things out of proportion, I know. It's something I've learnt to control in every area of my life. Except this.

Gotta agree here. Besides, having done both, I can say quite well - screw the weight loss, snuggle and eat chocolates!!!

I know I'm labelling myself wrongly as a failure, blowing things out of proportion, only focusing on the tiny negatives that don't actually matter, relating everything to me wrongly... I've had therapy before and I know all the flaws in my thinking :p I know the logical and healthy attitude, and I'm sure, by midday tomorrow when I'll be with him, I'll be fine and happy and sickeningly loved-up again :p

Just the result of (lovely but) crazy last few days, bubbling over of stress from exams, built up worry this weekend while Huw was away at conference and me being away in London, contact being sparse and him being travelling back right now so unable to chat properly.

other things won't/don't work. i'm sick of people judging me (not you, other people, random people, the looks and the way they treat me), i'm sick of looking like this, and its starting to impact on my health... i'm getting to the stage where i can't go upstairs without huffing and puffing for breath, can't stand up for most of the day without my back giving in, just generally breathe heavier than normal... i don't want to be like this (especially in the "prime of my life"), but eating, flavour and food in general is a big thing in my life. its a real pleasure to eat and eat well - eat tasty things. to eat non-tasty things in an effort to lose weight would be worse to me than eating nothing at all. it may well be selfish but its built-in, psychologically, now... during the depression there were three things that gave me pleasure: 1. getting high (and even that stopped being pleasurable after a while), 2. sex-related activities (*cough*), and 3. eating. food and taste is pleasure - it releases endorphins and whatnot into the brain and just feels good. and eating things that don't produce that is... well... like not eating at all but still ingesting calories. may as well go the whole way and just not take on those pointless calories and lose weight faster so you can get back to normal faster.

Weightwatchers online - you can make it as private as you want. And the whole point is that they set up a flexible guideline for you to follow, and you decide how to work with it so that it works for you.

PM - don't do the no eating thing! Seriously. Fasting is nice if you want to lose a quick 2 kilos before the beach vacation. Anything else can not be achieved by fasting.

FASTING WILL NOT WORK.

Not only does it suck and may well end up making you feel sick to your stomach and throwing up - it will not produce the wanted results. Period.

PM - don't do the no eating thing! Seriously. Fasting is nice if you want to lose a quick 2 kilos before the beach vacation. Anything else can not be achieved by fasting.

Not only does it suck and may well end up making you feel sick to your stomach and throwing up - it will not produce the wanted results. Period.

While I'm here anyway :p - you're doing it right, you're just missing the last step.
On the page where it gives you all the threads he posted in, you have to click on his name (I think it's on the top left, above the list of threads). It may say something like "Find all posts by...", can't remember.

Then it'll give you all his posts, starting with the latest, just like you want. :)


Now, if you started your search by searching for his name in the search function (as you probably did), then jolt will tell you that you have to wait those annyoing 180 seconds before you can make another search, i.e. before you can successfully click the "Find all posts by..." linky.

To avoid this, you can - if the user you're searching for is online at the moment - click the "jolt.co.uk public forums" link right on top of every forum page (top left, basically under the banner and under the thingies below the banner).
Click it and scroll to veeeeeeeery bottom of the page and you'll find every user who is online at the moment. Then you can just click the user-in-question's name and get right to his profile page. In there, you can click on "Find all posts by...." right away, no stupid searching and waiting... :)

Oh, and btw - down at the bottom of that page, you can also find the elusive logout button to log out of the forum. Took a lot of people a looooooong time to ever find that one (me included)...

Weightwatchers online - you can make it as private as you want. And the whole point is that they set up a flexible guideline for you to follow, and you decide how to work with it so that it works for you.

You're totally right, P&P, I inadverdantly started eating very sporadically a while a go, and even though I am back to normal now, it has screwed up my metabolism. I wouldn't do it again.

Just some advice for anyone considering it :)

That's really unhealthy. If you're going to lose weight, do it right. If I might suggest, Weight Watchers? Worked really well for me - both physically and psychologically healthy, you don't have to give up good tasting foods, etc. Check it out!
While you're at it, are you sure this isn't something really biological? You might want to check that too, just in case. You shouldn't stop eating if the problem is, say, a leptin issue. It's not going to work and you're just going to hate yourself.
