When dictatorship is a fact, revolution becomes a right.
~Victor Hugo

Silence. Dead silence, the crowd stood still and silent as they waited for the man to speak. They knew it was dangerous being here if they were caught they would surely be executed but still they came and why, because they wanted change and they hoped this man could give it to them.

“Comrades” His voice reverberated around the room “Our time has come, many years we have stood under the heel of the oppressor and for what? To have all our rights slowly taken from us! Surveillance cameras are on every street in every public building, one small negative comment about the country can have you thrown in prison or worse put to death! I say enough is enough!” Shouts of agreement from the crowd “For many years I have been working in secret to build up a resistance force capable of brining down the establishment and now our time has come! Freedom to the people! Freedom from the Oppressors! Today the revolution starts! Fictions Will be Free!” The crowd erupted in cheering and applause. At the back of the room, someone slipped out, unnoticed in all the commotion. The room fell silent again and the man spoke “These are not just empty promises, my first act is set to happen today.”

In the House of Government General Bryce Drabek, Ruler and Dictator of Fictions was in his office. damn these papers there seemed to be more and more of the stuff these days why couldn't someone else take care of it? but no it demanded his own personal attention. A knock at the door sounded “Enter” he said irritably if it was bad news someone was in trouble, he had just about as much as he could take for one day. An aide entered looking slightly nervous
“S-sir there's s-something you ought to know...”
“Spit it out then” damn it was bad news.
“A resistance force has sprung up in City Norata The police were informed but by the time they got there the meeting had ended”
“A resistance force?” just what he needed, a group of civilians getting it into their silly little heads that they could possibly do anything against his government. A damn nuisance force would be a better description “Who heads this so called 'resistance force'?”
“Former Minister of Education Aaron Gracia”
Drabek couldn't help laughing, a rebellion headed by a teacher? This would be entertaining, what would he do try to give him detention? Still the law was the law...
“Find him and have him executed, anyone who is found to have been at that meeting will be executed and anyone who is part of this 'resistance force' will be executed. You may go” He focussed his attention to the paperwork again and the aide left the room. A rebellion. Nothing will come of it, how many times had people tried to rebel? Too many times and nothing had come of that why should this time be any different? He sighed. Some people never learn...

AQPOHQ, The Capital Aquaria Police Headquarters, The largest in the country and home to the infamous National Surveillance Agency. Grey paused before entering, he knew what he had to do, he also knew he would not make it out alive but it was all for the good of the country so he was willing to make that sacrifice. He walked up the steps trying to look natural in his stolen police uniform, fake ID and briefcase, the guards at the door didn't give him a second glance, he looked just like all the other officers coming in to work on an office day. So far so good. He was inside. Grey knew where he had to go and the routes he had to take, he had gone over the floor-plan of the building several times and by now knew the place like he knew his own home, he made his way up the 2nd floor corridor where there was a storage closet with no security cameras. Stepping into the closet, he opened his briefcase and took out the bomb he had prepared, wiring it up and setting the timer to go off in 5 minutes, he grabbed a megaphone from a box and sprinted out of the closet up more flights of stairs and onto the roof, it was one of those flat ones with a helipad, but there were no helicopters there today. he raised the megaphone to his mouth, down in the street people noticed him and wondered what he was doing.
“For Freedom!” he shouted “For the Revolution!”

***

“How! How could this have Happened!?” Drabek was in a rage, how could anyone have let such a thing happen? Did those idiot guard not know who was in employment of the station? well they all died in the explosion so that saved him having to execute them for their negligence “I do not want a word of this being reported, it must not leave this city do you hear me? DO YOU HEAR ME!?”

“Y-yessir” stammered the cowering aide.

On televisions all over the country, FNNN was giving the 12 O'clock news

“Hello, and welcome to F-Triple-N With Rob Lloyd, It's Just after 12 O'clock and these are the headlines for today; A Two Million Ankh reward had been offered for anyone with any information on the whereabouts of The Former Minister of Education, Aaron Gracia, who resigned last month for reasons undisclosed...Hang on were receiving breaking news from CA Aquaria, Over to Beulah Jones, Our correspondent over there” The picture changes to show a woman holding a microphone standing in-front of the wreckage of the former AQPOHQ Police station “Yes Rob, I am standing here in-front----” her sentence was cut off however. The screen goes goes black and a high pitch whistling is all that can be heard. A.M.A.P.P.M.I. had cut the transmission. All over the country any other news channels which tried to report it, whether National or International received the same censoring.

***

Back in The House of Government Drabek Watched the multiple screens as all the news channels got blacked out, still furious he said to his aide
“This is the work of those revolutionaries you were telling me about. But now, now their not revolutionaries, now their Terrorists and should be treated as such. Any of them caught will be taken in for... questioning... then they will face execution. If capture is not an option, they are to be killed. Show No Mercy. Fictions will not give in to threats.”
The words had just left his mouth when the room went pitch black.
“What the Fuck!?” Drabek ran out the room to find that all the corridors had gone black too. Someone had cut off all the power.
“S-sir, you better come back in, listen”
Drabek followed the aide back into the room with many screens and heard a crackling sound coming from one of the wireless radios...
“This is a *Crackle* Message from *Crackle* Aaron Gracia *Crackle* head of the *Crackle* Freedom Fighters of Fictions *Crackle* What you have seen today *Crackle* is only the start *Crackle* If you do not give up your seat and *Crackle* Surrender to the will of the people *Crackle* we will be forced to take further action *Crackle* We will win *Crackle* and you will pay for the lives you *Crackle* have ruined. Freedom For the *Crackle* People! Freedom From Oppression!”
The message ended and the room was silent Drabek took a deep breath to try and calm himself, his anger was mounting.
“Have this message traced. Leave no-one Alive, and find out what happened to the goddamned electricity!”
The aide watched in horror not sure whether to move or not.
“GODSDAMMIT DO WHAT I SAY!” Drabek slammed his fist on a table and the aide took the radio and scuttled terrified out of the room.

The revolution of Fictions had begun.

(OOC: this revolution is not in favour of the revolutionaries or the current government, anything could happen, that is up to how other countries react, if they don't well, things will just take their course and the current government will win. even if people react there is still a chance the current government will win but depending on whose side is taken their chances are increased or decreased accordingly

Oh, any information, maps ect. is in my factbook)

“What? Lost connection? How?” queried Sandra. “You can’t just loose connection! That’s a state of the art satellite uplink you’re holding there! Give me that!” The fiery blonde news reporter reached out and hoisted the unit off the shoulder of her cameraman. Sure enough, she could see the dusty ground and her feet through the viewfinder but the bar showing the uplink to Googleopolis was empty. Strange, she thought but after witnessing the way things worked in Fictions over the past few days, she was hardly surprised. “Here, we’ll record on video and email it to Googleopolis before the news tonight.” She handed the camera back, snatched her microphone and retook her position in front of the rubble that had once been a government police building. “Let’s get this over with and get back to the hotel,” she added quickly, noticing a number of military uniforms across the street.

“This is Sandra Sultry for 10 News, Googleopolis. Today the nation of Fictions is…”

(OOC: Do what you like with that little into and we’ll see where it goes. Perhaps an inadvertant meeting with the rebel leader?)

(OOC: yea, I like your post. perhaps they could meet, I'm just trying to figure out a way that that could happen)

The 14 story A.M.A.P.P.M.I. building was in a state of frenzied activity marred with panic, especially room 3 on the 7th floor, the Electronic messaging monitor. Everyone in that department was put on overtime and the RedWorded messages just kept coming. Laura Marling, an employee who's job it was to make sure no inappropriate or banned messages got sent was almost in tears, she was trying to censor 3 local messages at the same time as re-directing and deleting new ones that had come. It was all because of that attack and the incredibly blunt order “no word of this must leave the city” that came straight from the general himself. The door of the room opened but no-one looked away from their screens or stopped that they were doing, if they were seen to be slacking off at a time like this it wasn't only their jobs on the line but their life. No-one wanted to be the one responsible of letting news of the attack leave the city.
“All news channels have been blocked from transmitting but that wont stop them trying to e-mail it out of the country, you cannot let that happen if you do, and be sure we will know if it was you. It's not only your job that will be taken away. Carry on” the person who had delivered this threat left the room.

***

In the Government Building things were equally chaotic the power had been restored and they had caught the person responsible for it. He was currently in “questioning” and will probably never been seen alive in public again.
In Drabeck's office things were not as chaotic but there was tension in the air, all important ministers were there as well as a few aides.
“We have everyone in our offices working overtime sir, there is no more A.M.A.P.P.M.I. can do, we're doing our best” this was said by a tall, attractive woman by the name of Sheryl Roy who was A.M.A.P.P.M.I.'s official representative
“Your best had better be good enough” this simple statement sent shivers up her spine, and she prayed to whatever God may be listening that no-one in her department messed up
Drabek addressed the Minister of Defence “I expect you have done something about this?”
“Sir. We have military personnel patrolling the city, if we find anyone suspicious they will be shot on sight.”
Drabek nodded, sure maybe some innocent people would die, but better to be safe than sorry.

***

Outside the wreckage of the targeted building Beulah Jones, CA Aquaria correspondent for FNNN Watched the foreign reporter struggle with the camera, she of course was used to transitions being cut occasionally but knew how frustrating it was. Jones walked over to her cameraman
“Reckon we should go? No point in staying if they're not gonna let us cover this” The cameraman nodded and they both went to the FNNN news van, Jones cast the blonde reporter a sympathetic smile then got in the van and left the scene.

***

In a secret (or at least undiscovered) base in the middle of the desert east of City Majovul, Aaron Gracia, former Minister of Education turned Leader of the revolutionaries, or as some would call them “terrorists” Smiled, this little attack had caused quite a stir, if they continued like this, the people would soon realise that they could win and would soon join the rebellion. Not even the whole government could stop a full scale uprising of the people and he felt hopeful, lives would be lost he knew but he would make sure they were not in vain, even if he had to die himself he would make sure they won.

Back in her hotel room, Sandra had just finished watching her report for the second time on her PDA. At least the time difference would mean she could still get the recording back to the news room in time for the evening bulletin. She tapped the small send button on the LCD with her stylus and waited.

Sending…

ERROR! Unable to contact mail server

“What now!” she exclaimed, frustrated. It had been a long day. Getting permission to even wield a camera in this country meant hours of arguing with a stone-faced government officer and even then, it wasn’t as though things were made easy for her and Brian, her cameraman. “No available cars, my ass!” she added, getting up from the bed and undoing the silk scarf around her neck. She reached for the phone, ready to call her office back home but her hand didn’t even make it to the receiver before the futility of that idea dawned on her. She had worked with difficult foreign governments before; one of the reasons she was chosen for this assignment. There was a knock at the door.

“Miss Sultry, it’s the concierge. I have a message for you,” came a voice from the other side. Sandra opened the door wearily and took the small letter without saying a word, pushed a few Ankh into the concierge’s hand and closed the door. Sandra recognised the logo of her network on the top left corner of the envelope which was already opened. Enough of the message was blacked out to make the rest unreadable. “Typical.” She muttered. “Come on Brian,” she yelled through the wall to the room next door. “We’re out of here on the next available flight!” Brian’s head appeared through the connecting door.

“Wait!” Sandra paused to think. This wasn’t why she had studied journalism. Surely she wasn’t one of those gold rushing paparazzi, out for a quick buck, who ran as soon as the nuggets lying on the surface dried up? No, she would stay in Fictions. She would stay and dig for the underground veins. This tin-pot dictatorship wouldn’t silence her. No one silenced Sandra Sultry. She would find out exactly what was happening in Fictions and tell the truth to the world. She reached for the phone again.

“Hello? Room service please… What do you fancy Brian?”

Revolution In Fictions
A war has broken out between various factions in the nation known only as Fictions. Reports from the scene Speak of fighting and riots in the streets as bombs and gunfights have erupted across the city. The leaders of the various factions were not available for combat though reports indicate that none of them were in a mood to speak to each other or to reporters. No official Statement had been made by the ASD'ian government but it is common knowledge that with confilcts on the verge of erupting or currently in process the ASD'ian forces are currently over tasked. *would you like to know More?*

Drabek continued to discuss the current problem with the gathered ministers when a knock at the door interrupted him
“Godsdammit this had better be important!” the aide that had entered stared at his feet not daring to look into the mans eyes
“W-we have traced the radio transmission s-sir”
“Finally! Well, where is it?”
“An abandoned apartment building in City Norata sir, I have a m-map with the exact co-ordinates marked on”
Drabek turned to The Minister of Defence “Have some of your people go to that building, leave no-one you find in that building alive. Do it. NOW!”
The Minister of Defence saluted and left the room to make the appropriate calls.

***

Outside an abandoned apartment complex a group of armed military personnel were preparing to breach the building. there were no civilians around they had seen the military people and had went well away, whatever was happening they did not want to be there.
“Ready, go.”
They entered the building alert there was no-one on the ground floor so they made their way up checking each floor as they went finally on the 4th floor they heard voices
“Careful with that”
“C'mon we gotta get out of here we should have been gone ages ago!, If were caught...”
“shit I think I heard something everyone quiet!”
One of the soldiers motioned to the others to remain silent and follow him, carefully he opened the door, inside were five people. The soldiers fired and four of the five died, the fifth injured was held at gunpoint
“Where's Gracia?” one of the soldiers demanded
“Not here”
The soldier kicked the prone man hard in the stomach, gasping for breath the man said “We...Fooled you...He was...Never here...It was a....pre-recorded message we sent out” The soldier stared at the man then, pointed his gun straight at the mans head and fired one fatal shot.

At the hotel where international reporter Sandra Sultry was staying a bellboy came up to her room where she had ordered room service. Taking what she ordered she gave the bellboy a tip and went back in her room, she was about to eat what she had ordered when she noticed a note tightly folded up. She opened it and read;

Sandra Sultry? If this is you we know you will be wanting to know what is happening, its a story after all and you are a reporter. If you are interested in what we have to say meet at the Singers Bar at 9pm. When you arrive at Singers, we will make contact with you.

Major Arman Josef placed his officer's cap firmly atop his head, and put on his black leather gloves. The gloves weren't standard Angenterian issue, but he thought they added a nice touch to the overall military look. When you're a Major, you get certain flexibility when it came to uniform. It wasn't that hard to get involved with the little rebellion that sparked up in the Dictatorship of Fictions. It was close enough to the Holy Imperium so that any Angenterian activity wouldn't be looked upon with too much suspicion, and the new rebellion needed the necessary equipment and training to manage a large-scale underground resistance movement such as this. That's where the Angenterians came in. Emperor Riektal had authorized the supplying of weapons and training to the government rebels, in exchange for a cut of the resources that the current Dictator of Fictions did not wish to trade. In short, it was simple Imperialism.

The convoy of trucks rolled through the eastern region of Fictions. It had been hard getting into the country, them being a military dictatorship and all, but the rebels had seemed to be able to open a nice hole for them with a few fake ID's and uniforms. Bribing the border guards also helped. They approached the rendezvous point, where a resistance contact was supposed to meet them.

"We're here." The driver of the lead truck crackled over the radio, and the convoy came to a halt. So far, there was nobody there, and nothing but landscape (OOC: Which I'm assuming is desert) as far as can be seen. Major Josef opened the door, and stepped out. Two Imperial Guardsmen from another truck jumped down from the back, coming to the side of their commander.

The C-130 Hercules rumbled through the air, a mere three miles outside of Fiction's airspace. In the interior were six members of the oh-so-secret 'Black Guard' who were all waiting to perform a HAHO jump in to Fictions. Mainly they were performing a high opening to avoid risking the aircraft to radar and to keep their presence as secret as possible. They were going to go where the one UN3 reporter and crew had recently been deported from due to the news blackout sweeping across the country.

Major Denes Szepesi stood in the doorway, looking towards the front of the plane where the city lights dotted the horizen. Denes only admired the glow of his target for a few brief moments before the red light clicked on and the normal lights of the cargo bay turned off. Denes looked back to the other men in the Black Guard group.

"Remember, when you touch down: form on me!" Denes yelled over the wind.

Then the light turned green and Denes lept from the plane and went in to the dive of his HAHO jump. As soon as they all touched down they would move to the nearest city and start to 'covertly disturb government forces' a.k.a: blow some stuff up but run away before they get caught.

Headquarters of the Central Intelligence Directorate
1350 hours

Officially, the Rautler Building in central Zahran was the headquarters of an import firm trading in cotton and wool. However, the seemingly respectable firm was nothing more than a front for the CID, a facade used to hide Zaheran's prime intelligence agency from the watchful eyes of the world. Inside its maze of corridors and rooms, thousands of personnel were trying to keep the Zaheranian government up to date with what was happening in the world.

In a small cubicle on the 57th floor of the building, a computer was recieving information sent from a 'fishing boat', one of the hundreds of remodelled fishing trawlers used by the CID to gather intelligence on countries of interest. The Directorate had been monitoring Fictions closely since the first signs of civil unrest had begun to show.

Most of the information they recieved via a secure satellite link was useless, though, and finding the valuable pieces of information was like finding a needle in a haystack. Now, however, a young analyst had found something really interesting. He pulled the headphones of his head and excitedly yelled to his superior officer.

"Sir! I think I've found something. Listen to this!"

He tapped a key on his keyboard and turned on the speakers.

He played a couple of more times so that everyone in the crowd that had gathered in the small office would hear before he explained.

"This message was intercepted by one of our assets in Fictions. What you hear is one 'Aaron Gracia', leader of a rebel group called the 'Freedom Fighters of Fictions', delivering an ultimatum to the Fictional government. He is demanding the resignation of General Bryce Drabek, the current dictator. If Drabek doesn't resign, he threatens with 'further action'. The message was preceded by an attack against a police station, so we know these guys are serious. The primary news network, Fictions National News Network, was doing a report on the bombing of the police station, but the transmission was cut short, so we can quite safely assume that the government is trying to hush things up. Well, that's all I've got so far. Sir?"

The officer nodded thoughtfully.

"Thank you, Erich. This information is of great importance. Okay, everyone, get back to work. I want every single bit of information we have on Fictions analysed. By five, I want a compilation of your opinions of how the situation is going to develop. Do your best, because the report will be the basis of the Director's evening briefing to the Emperor. His Majesty is very interested in the situation in Fictions."

The Imperial Palace
1900 hours

"...and thus, we believe that the chance of victory for the rebels is almost non-existant. Therefore, it is our recommendation that the Holy Empire should support the government of Fictions in this conflict. That concludes my briefing."

The CID director sat down and poured himself a glass of water from the jar standing on the table. He studied the faces of the men sitting around the table carefully. The seven members of the Inner Circle of the Zaheranian government, the most powerful men in the Zaheranian Empire. Apart from him and his counterpart in the National Security Directorate, the counter-intelligence agency, the council consisted of the Emperor, the Foreign Minister, the Defence Minister, the Minister of State Security and the Interior Minister. It was Defence who first spoke up.

"I agree with Gerhard. By intervening in Fictions, we can win much and risk little. If the government wins with our help, then they will be in debt to us. And if the rebels win, they will rule over a weakened country, and thus will have no interest in a direct conflict with us. Defence votes in favour of an intervention in Fictions."

The Foreign Minister nodded agreement.

"Lucien speaks the truth. Should the worst happen and the rebels win, I'm sure we can negotiate a favourable peace without any major concessions on our part. As Lucien said, it would be foolish of them to enter into an open conflict with us. Foreign Affairs vote in favour of an intervention."

The Emperor looked around the room.

"Thank you, Marius. Are there anyone who would like to do a last contribution to the discussion? Otherwise, we will now vote on the issue. Can those who are in favour of an intervention please stand up now?"

There was no need to count. All the delegates stood up as one man. The decision had been taken. Zaheran would intervene in Fictions.

We have heard of the recent developments in your nations regarding a terrorist group called 'The Freedom Fighters of Fictions'. It is our opinion that terrorism is a threat on a global scale, and therefore we have decided to help you in your crusade to wipe out these vermin. If you are interested, we will send you a full battalion from our special forces, the SSC. As we have had problems with terrorist organisations ourselves, our soldier have aquired much experience in dealing with terrorists, and should thus be able to help you crush these so-called 'freedom fighters'. Should you accept our help, it would be very helpful if you prepared a military airfield and gíve us the location of it, so that we are able to fly our soldiers in as quickly as possible. Should you require further aid, we would be honoured to provide you wuith it.

“Sir, I have just received some puzzling news” said the Minister of Defence cautiously
“What is it?” Drabek had just about as much as he could take in the manner of bad news
“We keep picking up strange signals just outside our airspace, but when we try to see what it is, the signal falls off the radar and we lose it Sir.”
“Damn. Whatever it is, Find out and do what you think best. It's probably nothing. Oh and before I forget, how did the Apartment building operation go.”
The Minister took a deep breath, he knew this news would not be received well
“We were tricked Sir, it was a pre-recorded message”
Drabek stared at him in disbelief, was everyone in this country so bloody incompetent? His face unreadable and when he spoke his voice was icy cold
“Tricked? And the people who traced the message could not tell it was recorded?”
“Apparently not sir”
Drabek turned to address an aide
“Have the people who were working on the message killed for their incompetence” pale faced the aide nodded and fled the room, too scared to stay in there a moment longer

The sweltering heat if the desert beat down on the three young men. There was no one else about, why would there be? this was nowhere land, far from any roads or cities. Uninhabited. Maybe one day a city or town will brave these harsh conditions, but not today. Except no, there was something else. in the distance they could see dots which turned out to be military. Foreign military and exactly who they were looking for. One of the men spoke
“And... Your sure it's them are you?”
“dead sure” said another, this man was Fidel Micro and seemed to be in charge of the three
“Shall we go meet them then” this was the third man
“Hold it, We could still be mistaken. If we are, we'll get captured but by no means tell them where we're based. got that?”

Careful to remain out of sight they made a wide pass south of their position, of there was a chance that they were mistaken about these people was best to throw them off course and arrive from another direction, they began to approach, slowly at first but then they were sure these were in-fact the people who they ere supposed to meet they sped up arriving they dismounted and walked towards the man who seemed to be in-charge, the man with the leather gloves.

Back the the House of Government, CA Aquaria, things were about to get a whole lot worse. Somehow news of the revolution had slipped out of the country despite all the precautions being put in place.
“How could you have let this happen” his voice was icy cold when he addressed Sheryl Roy who was supposed to have prevented this
“I-it wasn't us! I swear it!”
“Then explain to me how it happened, and your excuse had better be a good one”
She shivered, her normally unflappable demeanour had gone and she felt like she was on the verge of tears
“I-it must have b-been written and delivered by hand or spoken by someone, W-we can't stop people speaking, it would be impossible” she was shaking now barley managing to compose herself
“Right. We are closing our borders No-one is to leave or enter the country, that includes and I want to make myself quite clear, any foreign visitors.” He paused for a moment then said “And just to be sure. All phone-lines and such are to be cut from this point, in an hour I want the only working phones to be those in official Government buildings. Do you understand”
“Yessir”
“Oh, and one more thing before you go. It is a habit of foreign nations to meddle in affairs that don't concern them. Perhaps they would get it into their heads to try to equip these terrorists, if they try anything like that their cargo is to be confiscated and people arrested. Now go.”
Utterly relived that she was not going to die just yet she ran out of the room to make sure the orders were followed to the letter.
Drabek closed his eyes and rubbed his temples, he could feel the dull throbbing of an approaching migraine
“Sir?”
He looked up, it was The Minister if Defence who had spoken
“What do you want?”
“About this letter what should we do about it”
Drabek waved his hand impatiently
“Do what you want”

At this moment in time we would not like to hire mercenaries, we thank you for the offer, but we feel that this would bring international attention attention to our nation which is something we want to avoid. If however the situation changes, we may consider taking you up on this offer.

(OOC: Simple reason Fictions does not trust mercenaries they think they have no loyalties beyond what they are paid and some may even cheat by taking the money and not doing anything, or doing very little)

A few hours later...

“S-sir we have received another message from abroad” The aide braced himself for the yelling, but it didn't come instead Drabek sighed
“Looks like the world really does know, Don't tell me, it's some do-good nation trying to help the oppressed people, right?” his voice had a hint of tried sarcasm it had been a busy day
“No, look you better read it, it was encrypted but our code breakers translated”

To: General Bryce Drabek

We have heard of the recent developments in your nations regarding a terrorist group called 'The Freedom Fighters of Fictions'. It is our opinion that terrorism is a threat on a global scale, and therefore we have decided to help you in your crusade to wipe out these vermin. If you are interested, we will send you a full battalion from our special forces, the SSC. As we have had problems with terrorist organisations ourselves, our soldier have acquired much experience in dealing with terrorists, and should thus be able to help you crush these so-called 'freedom fighters'. Should you accept our help, it would be very helpful if you prepared a military airfield and give us the location of it, so that we are able to fly our soldiers in as quickly as possible. Should you require further aid, we would be honoured to provide you with it.

Yours sincerely,

Marius Stee

Drabek read the message several times it was not what he was expecting.
“I think this might be quite...Useful”

OOC: Currently in the desert, relatively close to Utand. Right now though, I'll post them touching down and making their way there.

Major Denes Szepesi slowly lowered to the ground, having jumped out on the completely opposite side of the country and he and his men having drifted for several miles. Now they slowly descended on to dark desert terrain with only the aid of their night-vision goggles aiding them in finding what was below them. The six men, Denes included, touched down and their parachutes lost the air that had held them up. The diving equipement; including oxygen masks and other such things, were stripped. The equipment was marked with the national flag of Fictions so if it was discovered it would throw off the enemy as to what country it was from, assuming they thought that it was from another country. For this operation, with the size of the country and given the conditions of the environment they didn't bother to hide them, that and the fact that it all bore the enemies standard symbols and identifications.

Major Szepesi and his men drew their Steyrs and slowly advanced to the distant lights on the horizen that GPS informed them was Utand.

Jack Daniels was hard at work in his office, he was signing a letter for the Girl Guides Troop 138 who had sent him a picture of their troop. He signed his name and turned to the letter from troop 137 and 136 and 135.... They did this every year and he had to sign back because his daughter was a Girl Guide and if she found out..... Director of the Office of International Intelligence (OII) Adam Imhov knocked lightly at the PM's door and entered. He smiled at the Prime Minister and said "Well, you remember Fictions from the conference? Well it turns out that they have a small revolution problem involving an angry teacher, several million poonds worth of guns and supplies and a load of angry imperialists. It turns out this teacher is calling out against the repeated oppression and wait for this, sir your going to love it. Human Rights breaches! The guy has taken to the streets and seems to be doing quite well. I believe if we gave them a little push we could have a jolly old regime change! If we inserted some black op's here and dropped a bomb there the country will be on it's knees in weeks. Then we muscle in as 'peacekeepers' and help the new government into power. Lets just bloody hope they aren't too communist or the same thing will happen within a few years."
Daniels turned to the man and said "Well, well that is handy. insert a couple of black ops teams but make it discreet. Off the books. I want you to have every power station, transport hub and means of communication out of action by the end of next week."
Imhov replied "Of course, sir I will get right on it." He turned and headed towards the exit. He would use ex-WSAS members. They would be deployed tomorrow morning. They would meet up with the rebels and collect information. Then they would get to work.

Fishing Trawler Susanne Just of the Southern Coast of Fictions

Derek Biggs would be leading his 5 man squad in land, he would meet up with Rebel forces once they had hit the beach. He only hoped they were around. Between the five of them they had enough C4 explosives to blow away half of Bowmore, and that was no small feat. His men were Tom Red, Gregory Halfers, Nick Kings, Sam Gerrand and Frank "Piggy" Bernard. Once they had infiltrated under the cover of night they would start laying traps and ambushes with the Rebels. Helping them by training and hitting main targets. One of them being the Generals Palace. Soon the trawler stopped and the men piled into the small rubber dinghy. In the twilight the creaking of the boat was almost ominous. Silently they started inland paddling the two miles ashore. If anyone fell in now they would most probably drown they were carrying more guns and explosives than an Irishman at Christmas. Grim faced they neared the shore alert and ready.

Katie Longe was on a mission, she smiled, On a mission sounded quite daring and suggesting of espionage and thrilling danger but his was nothing quite like that, no her mission was to deliver a message to the rebels in City Eris. Sticking to the coastline to avoid getting lost she sped on her motorbike towards where she knew the city to be, hoping she did not come across a border patrol. Yes she was armed, she had an AK-47 slung across her back, but even so she would never be able to beat a whole military patrol. she glanced briefly at the sea and noticed to her surprise what looked like a fishing boat, Katie was surprised, hadn't the borders been closed and the waters patrolled by the Navy? Unless it was a local fishing boat, yes that would explain it. She watched from her point just above the coastline as the small boat came ashore.

Major Denes Szepesi slowly made his way over the chain-link fence and came in to a small back-yard. Gunfire could be heard in the distance, faint but there. The other members of the teams came over the fence and the group moved to the back door. It was a standard glass, sliding door and upon looking through the glass Denes saw only an empty kitchen and when he tested the door he found it locked. that was fixed with several strikes from the butt of another soldier's Steyr. The team moved inside and stepped in to a living room where they find a huddled togethor wife, husband, and young daughter. They were pleading for their lives in the national language of Fictions upon seeing them, most likely through a window on the second story.

Denes simply moved past them to the front door where they came down on to the street. According to their GPS, they were only three blocks from the C Utand Courts: their first target. Denes saw a police cruiser crawling at what could have only been maybe ten miles an hour. Denes ran in front of the vehicle, hailing them to the side of the road. They pulled over, most likely out of curiousity while Dennis's team remained hidden.

"Who are you?" One of the officers asked, his hand resting on his gun.

Before he could do anything two members of Denes's team moved in to action. They caught the two men in the back of their heads with disabling blows via the butts of their rifles. Then they proceeded to drag the bodies off and change in to their uniforms, as Denes instructed them. Then they set their own equipment in the cruiser while Denes and the remaining three operatives set off on foot through various yards towards the court-house and the two other officers headed for the court-house in disguise as officers.

OOC: What explosion? I just plan to mess with their systems and other such things...with maybe a small explosion in the main power room...or not :p. lol.

The police cruiser slowly pulled up while Major Denes Szepesi and the three other operatives were in position. The crusier pulled up to the parking lot and a single guard came up to check the driver's ID. Instead of the aforementioned ID the soldier recieved a .45 ACP round straight through his nose. The body hit the ground and the moment he did Denes and the rest of his squad bolted in to a straight-on run, shooting a nearby security camera as they did so. Then the two other operatives clambered out of the cruiser in order to get in their normal gear. After they had done so they put a single piece of C4 under the dash and carefully rigged a detonator under the gas pedal. Then the team slowly moved towards the rear door of the building and booted it in. They emerged in to a small hall where a second security guard leaned by a water-cooler smoking a cigarette. He recieved a 7.62 from Denes's Steyr and toppled over on to the water machine which spilled across the hall.

Then the team approached a room labeled 'Basement' with a camera above it, which they shot out. They didn't need to given their ski-masks, lack of national markings or personal ID, and the fact that it would be obvious that somebody had attacked. The door was booted open to reveal a stairwell and a third security guard who had been at the base of the stairs, looking up at the sound of gunfire. A burst from another man's Steyr caught the man near the heart and he fell dead. The team moved down the stairs in to a large room and found a simple door labeled 'Generator'. Right next to it was a room labeled 'Main Phone Circuit'. The team chose the generator and entered to find no guard and just several, power-generating stations.

Soon C4 was placed on the wall between the generator room and the one with the main phone circuit and on the generator, both in enough supply to do some serious damage. Then the team quickly left the way they had came from, dissapearing in to the city night in an attempt to get as far away from the court-house as possible. Meanwhile, within the building two timers ticked down on the charges on the wall and generator. In five seconds, they went off in a roar of power. The car however, would only go off once the gas pedal was pressed down just enough to trigger the detonator.

Biggs scanned the ground ahead as his men quickly dragged the boat up the sand and into a nearby bush. Convenient he thought. As he scanned he saw a young woman standing next to a motorcycle. He quickly aimed his H&K MP5 at her when he noticed the AK 47 slung on her back. He then stopped when he realized this must be a rebel. He waved her down and hissed across the beach "You, come over here! We're here to help."
He crouched down next to the boat and sent Piggy to have a look around. He hoped he was in the right place. He had quite a way to go and his orders were explicit. Help the Rebels, and kill the General. The last one the most important.

City Utand has not heard the news of that had happened in CA. Aquaria, the media blackout had taken care of that however all government offices there had been told about possible threats. The city was quiet however and in the 3rd floor of the 7 story A.M.A.P.P.M.I building John Castel, an employee given the task of watching various CCTV footage in realtime, a dull job requiring a lot of patience. He was lazily switching between various building when something caught his eye in the cameras of the Courts, what he saw was a police cruiser pull up and someone inside it shoot a security guard asking for ID then someone shot the camera. He switched to another camera and witnessed another murder and another shooting of the camera. He picked up the phone and called the police.

Sergei O'Connor was in a bad mood. His armored Land Rover was stuck in traffic in the streets of Faction's capital city in a crush of people that was turning from some sort of protest into what might well turn into a riot or a street battle. There was no way he was going to make his meeting in time. Frackin' revolutionaries.

Sergei was a powerful looking man, with the generically ethnic features prevalent among New Potomac's melting-pot population. He was, ostensibly, Vice-President of development of NewPo Oil's Faction subsidiary. But, in addition to drawing a generous salary from one of New Potomac's most rapacious oil companies, Sergei also got a government paycheck from the External Security Agency, New Potomac's intelligence service tasked with serving New Potomac's (and it's corporations') interests abroad.

Recently, Faction's oil ministry had become more and more uncooperative with NewPo's efforts to secure leases of offshore oil and gas reserves. That is why, on this chaotic day, Sergei was on his way to meet with certain men, in a dive bar in the cheap district of the capital, who may or may not be representatives of the nascent revolutionary movement. NewPo was not terribly interested in the ideology of either the current government or the one that might replace it. It just wanted to secure oil and gas for New Potomac's hungry energy needs.

Sergei turned to his driver, a red-haired, willowy woman named Thalia Chan (who Sergei suspected worked for Naval Intelligence). "Park it here. we're not going anywhere in this crowd, and the local police will probably start to tear gas these people soon, anyway. It's only about a mile- let's walk."

They left the Land Rover, checked the handguns concealed under their jackets (and over their bullet-proof vests) and continued on foot to meet their contacts, to see if the rebels were interested in doing business.

"Sir a riot has started on Ninth Street"
Well isn't this wonderful Drabek thought bitterly he thought all his aides knew what to do if there was a riot or any form of protest for that matter "Well, I'm sure you know what to do, based on the amount of times I had to tell you this; in the event of a riot and or protest all participating parties are to be shot on sight and for Gods sake don't bother me I'm having a very bad day" Drabek watched the aide leave and made a mental note to try and find a more competent aide.

***

Ninth street was in chaos, people were shouting angry protests, in this moment every one of them had forgotten about the penalty against speaking out against the government. The most severe penalty. Death. Their forgetfulness had caught up with them however and appeared in the form of the heavily armed riot police who on reaching the protest open fired on everyone present, no care for age or anything else for that matter. The people ran screaming trying to dodge the bullets and help their friends and family but one by one they all fell victim to the riot police, within fifteen minutes the street was silent only the riot police was left alive and those civilians who had not been protesting but merely watching the horrifying events from the windows of buildings.

The bar where the NewPo representatives were told to go and meet with the Rebels was a shady one in a poor part of the city, this was good because there were not as many cameras about, it was bad because the government payed people in the area well to report on others.
As they entered the bar a man of average build and the usual characteristics of a Fictional, walked towards them "Are you the Oil company?" he asked his voice tinted with suspicion
New Potomac

Segei and Thalia looked around. A crappy little bar on the wrong side of the tracks. They'd been in places like this before.

The patrons were the usual mix- guys drinking themselves to death, low-end whores, and a few rough-looking dudes eyeing Sergei suspiciously and Thalia hungrily.

Sergei turned to the man addressing them. "Yeah, we're in the oil business. We understand this is the place to meet people who can help us resolve our current business problems. Maybe get a fresh governmental perspective on the issue, if you take my meaning."

Sergei motioned to the barkeep for a round of drinks. Better to look like they belonged here. Who sits in a bar like this without a drink in front of them? No one comes to a place like this for the ambience.

When the man left, Sergei turned to the Fictional.

"We want to do business in your country, which would be a long-term arrangement beneficial to both our nations. The current government does not seem to have much interest in developing off-shore oil and gas reserves. I supposed they have other things to worry about these days.

This is, of course, purely unofficial- the New Potomac government will always recognize the official government here, whoever that happens to be. But we would be interested in discussing whether your group might be interested in material and financial support in exchange for oil and gas rights for our company. All through intermediaries, of course."

The man drank thoughtfully then putting his glass down and spoke, still keeping his voice low "Well, like you say at the moment we are not the official government, but if we win I'm sure trade will be on the agenda, and as Oil and Natural Gas are some of our main resources which we will definitely be exporting to anyone interested, this is as you say purely unofficial" He took another swig of his drink and a thought crossed his mind, who fights a war for oil? that wasn't important these foreigners would probably just sit back and watch events happen then sweep in on the nation and take it's resources. Of course he did not say this.
New Potomac
06-11-2008, 01:35
The man hadn't really promised anything, but he hadn't said no, either. That's how these things usually started. Okay, he could work with that. The trick was to make them more and more dependent on you as time went by.

"We have the ability to provide you with material and money. Of course, our resources are not unlimited, but NewPo is a large company, and New Potomac is a wealthy nation. Most importantly, we have the ability to hire specialists who can train your freedom-fighters. We can get the wheels turning on this very quickly."

There is also a chance we will not win in that case the government, if they find out you helped us, will not sell you any oil." he had to say these negative things, all the time he spoke he had been keeping a careful watch on any change in the two foreigners expressions trying to guess what they were thinking, what they really wanted

She raised an eyebrow apprehensively as she noticed the collection of hotel guests inside; the usual assortment of retired alcoholics, seedy businessmen and high-priced hookers. Sandra was beginning to wish she hadn’t worn such a nice dress. But it wasn’t every day you met underground revolutionaries in person. “What did you expect?” she reminded herself, “It’s not the Ritz Googleopolis your staying at is it, Sandra.” She noticed a young bellboy watching her talk to herself and smirking. She shot him a deadly glare and stepped inside the bar. She scanned the room.

“If I were a rebel, where would I be hiding…”

If we are, we'll get captured but by no means tell them where we're based. got that?”
“Sure thing
“Got it”
They got on their motorbikes, these are Fictions built bikes, all terrain and especially good for desert navigation, The GPS dot that had been places accruing to the law had been located and removed by one of their people who was a skilled mechanic.
“Are you the Angenterian?” Fidel asked

OOC: Woah! Leave for a day and look what happens!

IC: "Major." The guardsman to Josef's left pointed out toward the men dismounting from the motorbikes, and began to unsling his assault rifle.

"No." Josef said sternly, raising his gloved hand to stop the soldier. He complied instantly, slinging his rifle firmly over his shoulder. The didn't seem like government agents, and they seemed to appear out of nowhere. If Josef knew anything about dictatorship governments, they liked to make a big entrance. The men dismounted from their bikes, and Josef took off his officer's cap for a moment to wipe the sweat off his forehead, before placing it back atop his head. It was amazingly hot.

“Are you the Angenterian?”

Josef's eyebrow perked up. The question was quite blunt, but Josef decided to take it at face value. If they were government agents, they'd know by now.

"That depends." He replied "Are you Fidel?"

He watched their faces carefully for any sign that they were not speaking the truth, their faces were carefully neutral which said both nothing and something, he took another swig of his drink
"I am only acting as a messenger you must understand, nothing I say can be taken as absolute and definite" he watched to see if there was any change in their expression as he continued to speak "Even if, we accepted your proposition how would you intend to fulfill your end of the deal, the borders are closed and all forms of contact go through extensive censoring and of course the phones are blocked. There is also a chance we will not win in that case the government, if they find out you helped us, will not sell you any oil." he had to say these negative things, all the time he spoke he had been keeping a careful watch on any change in the two foreigners expressions trying to guess what they were thinking, what they really wanted

Sergei shrugged. "There's no such thing as a closed border. This isn't the first time we've dealt with such a difficult situation. Don't worry about how we can get what we need into the country. The current government isn't all that efficient in keeping third parties out of this nation, as I'm sure others in your faction will attest."

"And we understand the risks involved if your fight for freedom does not work out. Given the potential of your country's resources, we are willing to take the chance."

"You know where to reach us. Please get back to us after you've had a chance to talk to your superiors."

The government still have control of the borders. Listen here Katie, In two days time a fishing trawler will be two miles off-shore here at 0030 hours. It will have large amounts of explosives on board. If we can organize a couple of boats to go out there and collect it we can do my primary objective. Blow up the Generals Palace. Not only will it kill the General but the government will collapse. This kind of dictatorship needs their leader. No man no problem. Yes please take us to the main branch." Fidel, watched the men wearily for a while then spoke. “Yes, I'm Fidel” He showed them his ID Card as proof, everyone in the country was required to carry an ID card at all times and, though he was rebelling, if he had to go into a city at any point and was stopped and asked for proof of identification it would be unwise not to have one. He noticed their apparent discomfort at the heat and grinned “Look” he said pointing towards the horizon “The sun's goin' down, in a few hours it'll be pitch black and bloody freezing, we just go from one extreme to the other 'round here”

The Singers Bar was dimly lit and Vanessa was at the back of the room, in-spite of the light and crowd she could still make out the door and get at least a glimpse of everyone who entered, she only had a picture of Sandra to go on but then, how many blondes were in this country really? Not that many. she waited and then she saw her or at least someone she thought was her, she took the reference picture out of her pocket and unfolded it (OOC: I'm sure you can get her picture from just searching her name online, i mean, she's an international news reporter and all) yes this was the woman she was supposed to meet, quickly putting the picture in her pocket she walked up to the woman and said keeping her voice low afraid someone else might overhear
“Hey Goldilocks, I hear your looking for a scoop”

Katie Smiled on hearing the news, yes they had been planning an attack on the palace but knew it would be very hard the place had the tightest security in Fictions but maybe these foreign helpers would know what to do? They seemed quite experienced in this. The lack of transportation might be a problem though
“Well, I think I could get you some transportation,if you don't mind bikes that is, wait here”
She ran up the beach taking her AK off her back as she did so.
“Hey Yous! Yea you guys!” she called after the bikers, she didn't want to do this, they were just college students out for a laugh “Can I please borrow your bikes?” her words, though polite and harmless were somehow made worse by the gun she had pointed at the students, pale faced they dismounted. She really did not like doing this “all right scram you lot, get out here” they ran off. she slung the gun back over her shoulder. She was never actually gonna shoot them, had they refused she would have had to find another method. She walked over to the bikes and started examining them, soon locating the tracking dot and disabling it.
She called back to the people on the beach “Gotcha some bikes, Don't worry they could have refused and I would have let them go, besides their students It'll be easy to search the databases and return these to them when were done”

The youngest member of the patrol, Harry Flinn, had only joined a few months ago and had not yet had his keen edge dulled, he took out some binoculars and said slowly “wait...There something not quite right about them...”

***

“Sir the rebels have acted in City Utand, took out the generator room of the courthouse and all the guards who worked there are dead”
Drabek took deep breath and closed his eyes a while, this bloody migraine was getting worse
“How big is the damage?”
“Not as much as here sir. Just the generator room and some of the surrounding building were affected”
“Right, and the media?”
“There is no working news distributor of any sort in the country sir”
“Good”
“What should we do?”
Drabek, absentmindedly looking in his desk drawer for some painkillers, said “Regular military patrols in each major city.” he would have shouted but that would have made his headache worse. Biggs had to give the freedom fighter some credited. She could think on her feet. He couldn't give a damn if she had killed every one of those students. He would still get paid, it would make a lot of noise and then he would have to kill her though. And that would be a shame. He had seen some crazy things while he was in the Regiment, he had watched a whole village get torched and after that the policemen he had been training raped and shot everyone. Not even a dog survived. Some of the things he saw came back to him in his dreams, but half a bottle of cheap scotch stopped those. He motioned to the men and they ran and mounted the bikes strapping the supplies to the side of the bikes. He turned to her and said "Thanks a lot, you show us a leader and we bring in the big guns. And I mean big. What kind of support have you got? How many of you are actually fighting? And how many truly loyal military and policemen do they have?" They strapped their assortments of weapons to their backs. A collection of silenced MP5's, G3s and a Minimi for support. Sam was carrying a L96 in a case. They were packing some serious fire power and if anyone got in their way they were going to die in a hail of bullets and shrapnel.

In a shady pub in the bad end of CA Aquaria the meeting with the foreign oil people was drawing to a close, or so the rebel thought
“Yes, I will get back to you as soon as i have spoken to my superiors, is there anything else you want to add or shall we call it a day?” he finished his drink and waited for them to reply

Katie wasn't worried about the trucks or the students, even if they were government trucks that had been flagged down by the students (and this was very unlikely) they had the advantage of both speed and distance. As for the students it would be ages before they managed to reach a town on foot and by that time they would be well away. They continued up the highway for several more miles, when quite suddenly Katie swerved off the motorway and into the desert, briefly turning around to indicate to the others to follow her.

Winterschloss, Northern Zaheran
0500 hours

It was one of the most secret places in the country. Many knew that there had once been a city up here in the mountains, profiting from being located right at the entrance to one of the few passes that crossed the Cold Sisters. Some knew that it had been abandoned because of the discovery of newer, more safer passes to the east. Very few knew that it now was the location of the headquarters of the SSC, and that the once so peaceful town had been transformed into a ultra-modern military base. No expenses had been spared in its creation, and the results were simply astonishing. Radar sites, SAM installations, hangars and bunkers, everything had been hidden inside the mountains. The facilities could house 200,000 soldiers, although only a fifth of that number were normally present.

On the airfield that belonged to the base, activity was hectic despite the early hour. Snow ploughs were clearing the runways from the thin layer of snow that had fallen during the night. Scores of soldiers were loading equipment into the giant Airbus A400s that would take them to Fictions, shivering in the cold. Others were jogging around, trying to keep warm while they waited for their turn to board the planes.

All in all, 812 soldiers and their equipment would soon be on their way to Fictions to help the government to quash the rebellion. They had been told that a group of communistic terrorists were trying to take control in the country, and that thousands of lives would be saved because of Zaheran's intervention. They had been warned that certain communistic dictatorships would try to help the rebels, and that there were a possibility that soldiers from these nations could be encountered.

The officers told them with stern faces that if they were captured, the communist would drug them and torture them to force them to betray their motherland. To prevent this, all the soldiers were issued with a small pack of cyanide pills, which they were told to use if they were captured. Everyone had their dog tags and other means of identification removed, so that no one would be able to determine the men's nationality if they died or were captured. No foreign nations or Fictional rebels would be able to prove that Zaheran had soldiers in Fictions. All the men spoke fluent English, that had been one of the requirements for for participating in the campaign.

Finally the aircraft crews had finished loading the equipment into the airplanes and the soldiers were allowed to board. Loading them up took another thirty minutes. At last, at 07.00, the planes began to take off, one by one. The men settled into their seats and tried to sleep. It would be a long journey, and when they reached their destination, they couldn't count on getting much sleep.

The Pacific Ocean
1400 hours

The carrier group The Emperor's Hammer was officially having a naval exercise, but its real task was another. It had been ordered into the Pacific to help the transport planes coming down from the north refuel, and if necessary provide air cover for the Zaheranian force once it had landed. If it became necessary to bring in reinforcements, the carrier group's ASW contingent would assure that the convoys would reach their destination without being harmed by enemy submarines. On the deck of one of the force's two Nimitz carriers, HMS Wrath of Nemesis, Admiral Herbert Wahnschaffe watched as a F/A-18E Super Hornet took off from the flight deck. Five planes, four fighters and one of the E-2 Hawkeye AWACS, were always in the air, ready to ward off a surprise attack by enemy forces. He was fairly sure that no attack would come, but it was better to be paranoid than dead. He looked at his watch. Another reason for keeping the AWACS aircraft in the air was to get an early warning when the tranport aircraft approached, so that he could get the tankers he had been supplied with in the air.

A polite cough behind his back made him turn around to face the officer who was standing there. Lieutenant-Commander Kühlbach saluted casually before delivering his message.

"Excuse me sir, but Eagle 1 reports that the transport aircaft are coming in. They should be here in ten minutes. Shall I order the tankers to prepare for takeoff?"

"Do so. I want the Vikings in the air in seven minutes. Have Eagle 1 reported any other sightings?"

"No, sir. Everything's calm, both over and under the surface."

Wahnschaffe nodded and gestured to him to return to his duties. The man disappeared, and when the A400s turned up ten minutes later, the S-3 Vikings were there to greet them. The tanking itself was something of an anti-climax and was over in five minutes, after which the transport planes resumed their journey.

Over Fictional Waters
1530 hours

They would soon reach their destination, and the atmosphere among the soldiers was growing more and more tense. To keep themselves from thinking of what laid ahead, some soldiers read the lists of useful phrases in Fictin they had been issued or listened to music, while others organised poker tournaments to entertain themselves the last hour of their journey.

At long last, the military airfield where the pilots had been told to land came into sight and the planes began to descend. Then the passenger felt the bump as the planes landed. The passengers and crews remained in the planes while a colonel and two soldiers walked out to establish contact with the Fictionals.

Sandra looked the women up and down. Obviously the salary of a rebel wasn’t high enough to permit boutique shopping. But what did she expect.

“I need to know what’s going on in this country of yours,” she said in a forced whisper. “And then you need to get me the fuck out of the country. I hear the borders have been closed and this communications blockade means I can’t contact anyone in my own country.”

She looked around for a bartender, noticed a young man wearing the same hotel uniform the waiters wore at breakfast. She motioned him over.

“One gin martini, dirty, with two olives and whatever my friend here wants. Put it on my bill.”

“Yes Miss Sultry,” replied the waiter, turning to the other woman and taking her order before returning to the bar.

“Let’s sit down,” the reporter suggested motioning to an empty table to the side of the room and beginning to move towards it. “If you can get me out, I have connections in the press office of my government. I could get you help. Real help! The last news I got out of Googleopolis before the blackout was something about new laws allowing the President to order interventions in cases like this. I’m sure my government won’t let this oppression carry on if they find out about it.”

Major Josef reached out, and took the ID card, studying it for a moment. While an ID card usually symbolized someone with government authority, Josef didn't pay much attention. In countries like this one, just about everybody carried civilian identification of some sort. He handed it back, pleased with the identity of the man.

"In that case." He began "I'm the Angenterian." He said, not even batting an eyelid. They seemed like the people they were supposed to be meeting, and he supposed that stage of the operation had been accomplished.

Josef chuckled dryly, understanding why the resistance would care to make their base here. The climactic extremes would easily discourage any sorts of life, and from what he'd seen, there wasn't much of that around here.

For security naturally. a few moment passed and the results came back they were Sergei O'Connor and Thalia Chan, legitimate business people from New Potomac. Sow hat where they doing in that bar. Katie glanced up at the aircraft that passed overhead and swore under her breath, this was not good news they would have to get back to the base fast, she started to go faster and hoped the group following her would do the same, they were deep in the desert now and for someone who doesn't know the place (and indeed sometimes even those who did know the place) getting lost would mean death.

A town a few miles from City Espias, there was about twenty-five thousand of them in that town, well they did not want to be part of the government approved NewChristian church. they wanted to be another religion, I can't remember which one but that's not important, anyway when the government found out... well, Everyone in that town, even if they had nothing to do with this was killed. It's still there, the buildings but no-one lives there, It's a ghost town...” she stopped speaking, her whole family had died in that incident, she had been one of the people lucky enough to have escaped but the mention of this brought back painful memories, she took a deep breath to calm herself and continued “well. i...I think i already mentioned quite a lot...If there's...anything else you want to know? More specific things...”

"That's good." he said, smiling "It makes the training all the more difficult. But we can get to that later, I assume you want to see the delivery?
“yeah, we'll see the delivery” Fidel didn't mention that in Fictions military service was compulsory and almost everyone in their group had served at least a year, of course there had not been any war but they still had some experience. He himself had only left the army half a year ago.

The RHO squad was well under cover, the grenade exploded in front of that cover and fragments sprayed across the top of a boulder one of the riflemen was hiding under. His armor picked up some fragments but that was about it. "Screw this his said and gestured to the Anti-Tank trooper. he, came out of cover just for a moment and seconds later a javelin missile launched and locked on the armored vehicle as the M-241 opened up keeping the ennemy pinned and Wesley moved quietly out of his hide, and began to circle for a shot at the back of the armored vehicle.

The soldiers saluted in the Zaheranian way, with their clenched fists over their hearts. The colonel stepped forward. When he spoke, it was in fluent English with a faint German accent.

"It went very well, thank you. I am Colonel Anton Sulzbach, commander of this force. As soon as we have unloaded our gear, we will be at your service."

Seeing that friendly contact had been established, the officers ordered their men to start unloading the planes. Soon more and more soldiers were standing on Fictional soil, hauling out and checking through their equipment, then forming up in squads. They were an impressive sight in their black uniforms and body armour, Ares III assault rifles casually hanging on their shoulders. Every man was a combat veteran, having fought in many battles against communist guerillas and militant religious sects. Their hard, expressionless eyes reflected this, as did their scarred bodies and proud, militant posture. They were the SSC, the elite of the elite, the best soldiers in the Zaheranian Empire.

"Very good. It's always best to know that your goods are of the best quality. Sergeant?"

"Yes, sir." The soldier to Josef's left moved to the back of the truck, disappearing for only a moment, before returning hauling a medium-sized crate. The Logo of the Angenterian Ministry of Military Affairs was stamped on the sides. He put the crate down, and used a crowbar to open the top of the crate. Reaching in, he pulled out a bullpup-style assault rifle.

"The Angenterian ANG-99 Assault Rifle." Josef confirmed. "A modified version of the QBZ-97, it carries thirty-five 5.56x45mm NATO rounds." The Sergeant pulled out a separate magazine, showing it to Fidel and his men. "It carries four fire settings: safe mode, single shot, three round burst, and full automatic. It allows for an attachable red dot sight, or 3x scope. The ejection port had been moved to the front of the rifle, and a deflector has been added, so it may be fired either right or left handed, and aimed more accurately from the shoulder. It is the current assault rifle of the Angenterian Imperial Guard, and had been battle-tested with excellent results." The soldier put the rifle away, and placed the top back on the crate.

"There's more then just that." Josef said. "Of course, that was only the sample. Now, are there any questions, or shall we get going?"

“The situation at the moment, we are unsure where the main rebel base is, but we have people working on finding it. All Cities have been put on high alert for any suspicious activities...” he continued to brief them on what had already been done. At the moment it was mainly defensive and focused on prevention, however they would move more onto offensive when they had more information on rebel bases.

Major Denes Szepesi watched the seven-story tall building's front door through a set of high-powered binoculars from his position in a small parking garage. He watched the front door, seeing absolutely no activity what-so-ever. Denes kept watching the rather invitingly wide front doors of the A.M.A.P.P.M.I building as he began to speak.

"How's the truck coming?" Denes asked one of his men.

To his left a man was leaning inside a large SUV, trying to hot-wire it.

"Just got it sir." The soldier replied, coming out of the SUV.

Denes put his binoculars away.

"Okay, then let's go." Denes said as he stood up.

A Short Moment Later

The security guards and surveillance cameras outside of the A.M.A.P.P.M.I building were in for quite a sight. A large, dark green SUV came barreling from the front gate of the parking garage and straight for the buildings front doors. Denes was at the wheel and everybody inside the vehicle were ducking down as low as they could. The occasional shot of gunfire would pin off the car but it didn't do any good against the barreling mass of steel and motor. This point was made in mere moments as the glass of the doors shattered and the pieces were sent in almost every-which-way across the rather expensive-looking stone-tiled floor of the lobby. The doors came open and the two guards were downed as they emerged from behind the desk in an attempt to fire.

Then three more security guards were downed as they attempted to come in through the mangled front door. Then Denes and his squad stopped leaning out of the doors to fire and stepped out of the vehicle. Given the apparel they wore and the fact that they wanted to conserve ammo on this specific raid the cameras remained unshot. Denes and his men took the stairs down to the basement, skipping steps as they went. They came to a corner but as Denes tried to turn it buckshot peppered the wall mere inches from his head. Denes instantly dived back and practically ripped a fragmentation grenade from his vest which he lobbed down the hall. It detonated and Denes came running around to see the torn up remnants that had been the face of the security guard leaning against the wall by the door.

With a solid boot to the lock the door was opened and the generators were revealed. The team seperated, planting their charges on the back-up generators and then the main system. Denes and his men bolted from the basement rooms for the generators and up the stairs. Then with the click of a detonator the entire basement was shaken for a few brief seconds from where Denes stood. Then the lights clicked off almost an instant later. Then the NVGs were activated as Denes and his team formed at the now pitch-black entrance to the basement, seperated as much as possible, while they watched for if there would be any reaction within the lobby. They lined either side of the entrance, making sure they wouldn't make contact with anybody going down the center of the stairs.

After following Fidel and his men for about half an hour, they finally arrived at the resistance base. The ride, however, felt a lot longer then that. Tension filled the air, and nobody spoke a word. However, it seemed that Fidel had not been lying. Eventually, the base came up, and the convoy once again rolled to a halt. Stepping out of the truck with his men, Fidel was approached by another man wearing glasses.

"My Name is Aaron Gracia, I hear you came to help us?"

Josef perked up upon hearing this, sizing up the man that was reportedly the leader. The former Minister of Education, Aaron Garcia was the purported head of this entire resistance. Like the others, he was dressed in civilian clothes. Josef found it strange that a teacher would become a revolutionary, but didn't dwell on it. Josef stuck out his black gloved hand.

"Major Arman Josef, Angenterian Imperial Guard. Did someone order a delivery?"

Aboard the NPSS Pacifica

Admiral Jeremiah Dulles removed his white cap and scratched his head, while gazing out over the deck of the Pacifica, one of the newest carriers of the New Potomac Navy. Though New Potomac's military was mostly geared towards the defense of that island nation, his country had invested in several force projection platforms. The Pacifica was a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) carrier- designed around a large number of cheap unmanned drones for its offensive punch. Its task force, along with a battalion of Marines, was performing exercises when the crisis in Fictional broke out. New Potomac's government had ordered it to steam towards that country in preparation of evacuating New Potomac citizens from that rapidly-escalating conflict.

But something else was going on- a transport plane had landed on the Pacificia last night and disgorged a group of shady characters that Dulles knew were not here for a legitimate purpose. He had been ordered to house them until they received their orders going forward.

"Read that back to me" Dulles said to the communications tech tasked with transmitting his message to the Fictional government.

"Greetings from Admiral Jeremiah Dulles, commander of the NPSS Pacifica and its task force. On behalf of the government of New Potomac, we are here to arrange for the evacuation of certain of our citizens from your country. The number is small, and we have the capability to transport all of them use our own helicopters. All that we ask from you is permission to enter your airspace to pick up our citizens at a pre-determined location in your capital." The tech looked up.

"Good. Go ahead and send that."

There was something going on here, Dulles thought. Someone in New Potomac's government agencies was up to something.

"Wait here" Sergei said to Thalia. They had parked the Land Rover in an alley a few blocks down from the dive bar, away from any cameras. "I'll be right back"

He quickly put on a hooded shirt, put on dark sunglasses and raised the hood. Keeping to the shadows, he walked back to the bar and watched the entrance from an alley across the way.

A few minutes later, two men stepped out of a car. They were clearly government agents- the ones in this country did a terrible job of blending into the population. That was part of the problem with a dictatorship like this- no sublety. They walked into the bar and spent some time inside. Sergei made a note of their license plate, then headed back to the Land Rover.

"Problem" He said to Thalia. "Looks like the local bully-boys took an interest in us. I doubt they have anything at this point, but let's make sure to keep our eyes open going forward. I doubt they're just going to make us disappear- Fictional probably doesn't want to piss off any foreign government right now"

John Castel had been saddled with realtime surveillance. Again. He was sure his superiors had something against him, what was worse was that he had been told to watch the building which was incredibly dull as nothing ever happened here so it was quite surprising when he saw the dark green SUV pull over in-front of the building and then the insuing fight. He picked up a receiver
“Security, we have trouble in the lobby get down there now!”
He saw then go down and how futile that was. turning away from the scene, he could not bring himself to watch, he instead concentrated on dialling for the police
“This is John Castel from A.M.A.P.P.M.I.....yes me again, this time its our building, you better get here on time! They already killed our security!” he looked up at the monitors again and saw the grenade go off in the basement it was then he knew they were going to cut the power
“shit, shit shit, no, bastards!” he pounded the keyboard frustrated at being unable to do anything to stop this then the lights went out.

All over the building the power died a few people screamed taken by surprise and tried to get to the exits, others stayed still too confused to move. In the offices on the 7th story the various head of department were trying without luck to contact the outside.

Outside in the street the City Utand Riot police arrived, they too well equipped. Three of the squad of twenty-five entered the building to scout the place out.

“This is Nita Elison”
“What do you want”
“well, i just received a message from New Potomac requesting permission to have their citizens removed from the country”
“Damn foreigners, whatever, let them as long as they do nothing else. And have all citizens searched for information, notes, photographs you know the drill. If they do not agree to the search they are not to leave the country.”
“I understand”
“One last thing, there are two individuals that are not to leave the country as an arrest has been authorised against them, they are Sergei O'Connor and Thalia Chan, not gonna tell you why if you must know look it up in the databases” he hung up abruptly, Back in his office he tapped the edge of his desk, if one more phone-call like that came he was going to disconnect the phone.

A message arrived to the NPSS Pacifica from Fictions, it went like this:
“This is Nita Ellison, Minister of Foreign affairs. Our government had decided to grant you permission to collect your citizens, however, this is all you must do, once you have your citizens you must leave the country without delay. Also all citizens must submit to a search to find if they have any illegal information, this is standard procedure and any illegal information found will be removed from them, should they refuse the search they must remain in the country. One last thing, we have information and eye witness accounts linking two business people, Sergei O'Connor and Thalia Chan, to a group of terrorists who have carried out a series of attacks within Fictions, an arrest has been authorised against them, meaning they cannot leave the country, however, should out information prove to be false they will be released and deported.
We hope you will co-operate with our requests”

Denes watched in silence as the riot police entered in and came around the SUV through the remains of the front door. The squad hid in the darkened shadows of the doorway as the squad leaders began to order their men around to search the first floor. Denes had to play his field carefully now that the enemy had time to respond in force. They were well-armed but from the looks of them, they lacked night-vision capabilities with their common use of flashlights attached to the ends of their guns. They moved slowly and methodically, skipping the basement for the obvious reason that they assumed no terrorist or rebel would be stupid enough to stay right by the scene of the attack for fear of being killed. As such Dennis and his team quietly moved down the stairs and back in to the generator rooms, not worrying about the cameras given the lack of powers. The team dispersed behind doorways away from the entrance so they wouldn't be as likely to be spotted upon an incursion in to the room.

It was times like this that Denes prayed that maybe a group of rebels would come to his aid, whether unknowingly or otherwise.

Just one officer? That's all they sent down? What kind of person did they think Denes was: an untrained rebel? Oh wait...that would be the most logical things to think in that kind of situation wasn't it? As the man came through Denes moved from his position in a side-door while staying clear of the basement's main entrance. Denes raised his rifle and took aim at the man. Then Denes realized it: they didn't send more because the man would report back up if he came across something or if it was clear and if he didn't report more would come down. Denes slowly moved up behind the man as he moved towards the main room. Denes still kept a slight distance from him in case the man 'grew a pair' so-to-speak and attempted to attack him at close quarters. Then again, if it came to that Denes always had his combat tomahawk and a combat knife.

"Don't turn around and don't touch that radio: set your weapon down and kick it across the room." Denes ordered, aiming at the man's head.

There was a man across the room hidden within a doorway ready to take the gun the moment it was kicked over...if it was which Denes could only hope for at the moment.

Sandra’s heart sank. The tone of the woman’s voice again betrayed her true feelings and this time those feelings were that there was no way out of this place. She began to thank the woman, trying to wrap up the conversation. It was late and she was tired and wanted to go to bed.

“Thank you, really, I appreciate everything, but…” she felt a large, masculine hand on her shoulder.

“Alright, we’re done here.” The deep voice came from the hand’s owner. He was a large man who looked like he’d just crawled out of a bottle but the torn jeans and flannelette shirt he was wearing somehow didn’t match the rest of his look. He grabbed Sandra, clamping his hands on the sides of both her shoulders and hauled her onto her feet abruptly. Sandra stumbled, trying to get her balance back, not easy with the heels she was wearing.

“Get your hands off me!” she exclaimed indignantly, struggling and slapping his arms, trying to get free.

“CAN IT LADY!” came the gruff reply. “Trust me you really don’t want to make a scene in here!” The man flicked his head to the corner of the room, indicating a security camera. Sandra looked at the camera and back at the man. She knew who the surveillance equipment belonged to in this country. She let out an undignified, high pitched “ugh” as the man began hauling her away. “You’d better come too missy,” he said turning back to the Fictions woman still sitting at the table, eyebrow raised. The man started towards the stairs.

“But, the elevator is just over…” Sandra didn’t get to finish.

“Elevators have cameras!” the man was clearly in no mood for negotiation.

“But my room is on the twentieth floor!” protested Sandra.

“We’re not going to your room,” replied the man with a chuckle.

“Oh, God!” exclaimed Sandra as they stopped in front of on of the cheapest rooms in the hotel. The man tuned a key and the door opened.

The man pushed her inside and began unbuttoning his shirt.

“Oh please, please don’t rape me!” pleaded Sandra. “I have money, lots of money and friends, friends in high places. You’re making a huge mistake!” The man looked at her blankly for a few seconds before bursting out laughing, falling down and rolling on the bed, unable to control himself. He finally stood up, wiping a tear from his eye, laughing.

“Trust me Miss Sultry, I have much better things to do than rape you.” He tore off the rest of his flannelette, revealing a white cotton muscle shirt and two underarm holsters. He threw two Walther P99 handguns onto the bed and began unslinging the shoulder straps from his arms. “Taylor Harris, Military Intelligence at your service Miss Sultry. I’ve been watching your back for weeks.” Sandra was wide eyed with disbelief.

“You’re Googlewooper?” she asked.

“As Googlewooper as they come Miss Sultry,” Taylor replied. “Now what have we got here?” he added, looking to the door were the Fictions woman was standing.

Three members of the squad continued firing as the others broke cover and began to retreat. The grenedier took three rounds in the back as he backed off and was dragged to safety. The remaining three members then leapfrogged back as the rest of the squad lay down covering fire. From his hide, a 100 meters back and to the right of the squad, Wesley continued to fire at specific ennemy targets.

Denes watched as the officer kicked away his gun and watched as the gun stopped near the doorway where it was quickly taken in to the doorway by a still unseen operative. Then Denes quickly glanced behind him to the doorway to see that it was all-clear before he looked back to the back of the officer's head. Judging by the way he had acted the man was scared and he obviously didn't want to die. The man probably had a wife and kids. He didn't deserve to die because so far, he was helping Denes, and the man had only gotten in this situation via orders from someone higher up.

"Alright, radio your buddies and tell them it's all clear." Denes said as he continued glaring down the sights of his rifle.

Thornton was greatly impressed by the Zaheran forces and was glad they were on the same side.

The colonel nodded. The Fictional forces seemed to be very competent in their handling of the situation. But maybe he would still be able to give them a few tips.

"First of all, I give you my congratulations for your competence and determination in dealing with the situation. If you hadn't acted so decisive and fast, the situation would have been much worse. But if you don't mind, sir, I want to make a few suggestions. I have been in this trade for forty years, so I hope that what I have learned will be of some use to you. First of all, I presume that you are already monitoring the rebels communication? If not, I suggest you start immediately, because a snake is best killed by cutting of the head, and the head of this snake can be found by figuring out where the orders come from. The timing and coordination of the attacks suggest that the invidual terrorist cells recieve their orders from some sort of central headquarter. If you can find that, you can eliminate the whole leadership in one hard, decisive strike, effectively rendering the rest of the organisation impotent.

"Secondly, capture and interrogate as many rebels as you can manage. This can give you some understanding on how the rebels operate and what their motives are. Understanding your enemy is a vital factor of winning a military conflict. In the word of the great Sun Tzu: 'Know your enemy and know yourself, find naught in fear for 100 battles. Know yourself but not your enemy, find level of loss and victory. Know your enemy but not yourself, wallow in defeat every time'.

"Thirdly, turn the people against the rebels. I have no doubt that the enlightened people of Fictions can see through the rebels' lies, but even so, it might be a good idea to use the media to expose the rebels' atrocities. If you can get the people to hate Gracia, sooner or later someone is going to turn him in or inform the police of his whereabouts. The information is always somewhere, the hard is to know where to look."

In the basement of the A.M.A.P.P.M.I. building the cornered officer slowly reached for his radio, careful not to make any sudden quick movements that might lead the unknown person behind him to think he was going to attack, he unclipped his radio from his belt and spoke into it, trying his best to keep his voice sounding natural
“Basement clear. No sign of rebels”
A few seconds then a reply crackled on his radio
“all right, come back up then, Looks like we missed them. Damn there's gonna be hell to pay back at the station”

In City Tyrosor, Otherwise known as “The Culture Capital of Fictions” August was parked outside large building of the Fictions Home Office, Her branch of the resistance movement (known only to the other branches as “Rex” - she was sure there was a story behind that, but had never asked) had received word from Katie (from the branch known as “Main” for obvious reasons) had received the go ahead to continue with any plans they may have had, and now she was to carry out the one they had been planing. She got out of her car, she was chosen to do this task because she already worked there as a member of the cleaning staff, so the guards recognised her and let her in as they would have done on any other day. She went up to her supply closed and unlocked the door, everyday for the past week she had been bringing in bombs and hiding them in the ventilation shaft that was in her closet, now though she took them out and hid them amongst her supplies and, starting from the first floor and working her way up she hid a bomb on each floor and set the timers for 30 minutes.
“Hey What do you think your doing?”
August spun around at the sound of the voice, one of the guards who patrolled this floor was looking at her suspiciously but there was no hiding what she was doing. She began to back away but the guard spoke a few words into his radio and soon two more guards appeared behind her, she was cornered and there was no escape, one of the guard behind her hit her hard on the back of the head and she collapsed, unconscious.

In Drabek's office he was just receiving the news of the failed attempt on the Home Office
“Who was the guard who discovered the Terrorist?”
“Jude Armstrong sir, he also arranged the building to be searched for other bombs, they found ten in total, five of which had been set off but they managed to deactivate them”
“See it he gets a raise, it's good to know at least someone isn't so incompetent. Has the terrorist been captued”
“Yessir she's in Questioning right now”
Drabek nodded, soon she would speak, no-one's silence lasted long in questing.

In the military Airbase, Thornton listened to the advice, it was good advice, especially about how to stop the rebels.
“We have already removed all phone-lines but we think they're communicating another way, not electronic,a and until we find out how we cannot do anything”
A solider came up to him and said a few words in Fictin. Thorntom smiled “Apparently they have captured a rebel in City Tyrosor, said rebel is currently in questioning, apparently they are hopeful and think the rebel will talk” he said a few words in Fictin (roughly translated means 'send a message to Sheryl to have her propaganda people put the rebels in a bad light') and the soldier who had delivered the message went to relay this message, Thornton spoke English again “Hopefully this captured rebel will be able to give an approximate location on the main base”

The colonel smiled faintly. While he couldn't speak Fictin, he understood enough words to get a rough idea of what the man was saying to the soldier. Apparently the Fictionals were going to follow his advice.

"That is good news, sir. Say me, when you're finished with the prisoner, could you have him delivered here so that we might speak with him? You have probably extracted everything he knows, but it is always worth taking a second look. Besides, we don't know much about these people, so it would be very helpful if we would be able to take a... chat... with the prisoner."

Sheryl sat in her office on the top floor of the CA Aquaria A.M.A.P.P.M.I. building drumming her fingers against the desk. Put the rebels in a bad light. Private Carlson, dressed in civilian clothes, was angry. He had been ordered to do something that would surely end in his death and he couldn't refuse because that would definitely end in his death. What they wanted was cold evidence that the rebels were bad, and he was to provide them with that, the rebels had only ever targeted government buildings and had been careful to leave civilians alone which meant that the people had nothing against them, unfortunately for the government. However if the rebels were to, say, attack and kill a large number of unarmed unprotected innocent people, that would turn the rest of the population against them. There was no chance of them doing this so he had to do it for them. Which is why he now stood in the middle of the crowded Gillivan Square with it's three malls flanking each side and street market in the middle. He had on him three soda bottles containing enough liquid explosives to kill almost everyone in the square (including himself) and do severe damage to the malls. No-one paid him the slightest attention, he looked just like your average Jhon Doe. Unremarkable. Invisible. No-one seeing him now would guess he was in the military. He bit his bottom lip nervously, wishing he didn't have to do this, but dreading what would happen to him if he refused, A quick death by explosives was preferable to a slow death at the hands of the interrogators...

Rob Lloyd, Fictions top news reporter was astonished to hear that almost twenty hours of being off-air he was allowed to do a news broadcast, and about a rebel attack too! He took his seat and looked at the camera
“Were going live in three....Two...One...”
“Hello I'm Rob Lloyd and your Watching F-Triple-N, It's been a long blackout but oh-so much has happened: Our top story, a group of militant revolutionaries today set off an unprovoked attack in Gillivan Square, City Ibea, The death toll is unknown but we suspect hundreds of innocent lives were lost, Over to our correspondent Laurence Potts, to find out more”
The screen changes and a man holding a microphone is standing in front of what was once Gillivan Square, in the background, ambulances can be heard and rescue teams are trying to find survivors
“Thank you Rob, as you can see behind me, this attack by the rebels has caused great damage to the square and buildings, and several lives have been lost, and official figure has not been reached but it is suspected to be well into the hundreds.” The Potts turned slightly to give a better view of the devastation behind him and indicated with his free hand the emergency teams “As you can see, emergency teams have already responded and have been working non stop for the past half hour to find any survivors but have so far had limited success. The rebel group said to be behind this devastating attack against the innocent people of Fictions is a group of so called 'Freedom Fighters' Headed by Aaron Gracia. This has been Laurence Potts reporting live from Gillivan Square Back to you Rob”

***

The public reaction was outrage, just as Sheryl had expected it would be. The poor, gullible population had believed every word of the report and now believed that Gracia's little group was attacking innocent people, it was almost too easy. She smiled as she picked up the phone. Drabek had asked to be kept up to date with this project, surprising seeing as he had spent most of the day telling people not to bother him.
“Hello, This is Sheryl, I think we can call this operation a Success”

***

Drabek had watched the report, it was very well done, and what's more, it was all done by the news people who also seemed to believe that it was Gracia's men who had done this, he smiled as he watched Rob Lloyd, Good old Rob Lloyd, talk in great detail about how the terrorists were a danger to society and people should do everything in their power to stop them and that sucker of a reporter believed all that too. It had been genius on the part of Sheryl, using our own people to fake terrorist attacks, this almost made up for the fact that her incompetence lead to word about the unrest leave the country. The phone rang and he answered, he was in almost a good mood, something that had not happened all day
“Hello?”
“Hello, This is Sheryl, I think we can call this operation a Success”
“I know, I was watching the report, great ingenuity on your part. Well done. This almost makes up for the mistakes you have been making lately”

“What is it?”
“The government has attacked Gillivan Square, and made it look like it was us! whats worce the people seem to believe it!”
“What!? you got to be joking!”
“I'm serious, it's looking real bad”
“So that's how their going to play it. Killing their own people and pinning it on us, they went too far this time” he switched back to English and Addressed Josef

Denes watched as the officer slowly spoke in to the radio, doing an impressive job of keeping his voice neutral given the situation. Then the gun was slid back and Denes picked it up. He know they would be suspicious if the man came up without a weapon of any kind so he carefully manuevered while behind the man so it was hanging by it's strap along his neck. Then Denes slowly moved out of the way while keeping his sights on the man through his night-vision goggles.

"Alright, now head up-stairs and act natural; I'll be watching and if you do what I say you'll walk out of this alive and well." Denes said authoritatevly, yet adding a little comfort to the last few words; putting emphasis on 'alive'.

Josef and crew looked at the resistance fighter who had recently approached them, and their eyes went back and fourth as him and Gracia had a quick, but urgent conversation on their native language. Josef looked at the two quizzically, until Gracia translated for him.

I am terribly sorry about that, we just received some bad news, i do not know whether you understood, but in an attempt to undermine us, they killed hundreds of their own people and pinned it on us, we did not do that, but the people seem to believe we did

"I see." Josef said, somberly. "I am sorry to hear that." Thinking about it, it did seem to fit. This Gracia character didn't seem capable of the mindless butchery of innocent beings. And it sounded like something the Fictions government would do. "However, it puts you in a bad position. The hope that had been in his voice previously had now left it and he stared at the ground for a while, then looked up again and the moment of uncertainty seemed to have passed "There must be a way, yes this cannot be it. August slowly regained consciousness, her head hurt terribly where she had been struck. For a moment her vision was fuzzy then the room came into focus, she was in a dark room, its walls and floors were bare and there were no windows the only source of light came from an uncovered bulb hanging from the ceiling. There was an empty chair in front of her. She tried to move but she was tied tightly to a chair and could not get out, she tried to struggle against her bonds but she had no luck
“Don't bother struggling, it wont help you” She tried to turn around to see who had spoken but could not.

Taylor Harris shrugged.

“As long as you’re not Government,” he added in Vanessa’s direction. He looked Sandra up and down, shaking his head at her cocktail dress and heels. “Here, you’d better put this on,” he threw her a pair of old jeans and a tatty t-shirt.

“I am certainly not wearing that!” exclaimed Sandra indignantly.

“You will if you want to stay alive,” came the reply.

“Why?”

“Because we’re leaving, that’s why. There’s a large rebel base some way inland from here. We’re going there. It’s not safe in the cities anymore.” Taylor’s answer sounded urgent and rushed. He had already pulled out a small tatty suitcase as if he was going to pack.

He opened the lid to reveal an interior that was anything but tatty. Under the worn leather was an aluminium case, lined with black, foam padding. An ultra-modern XM8 Carbine ‘Compact’ was strapped to the inside of the lid next to spare magazines and a couple of blocks of C4. Only a third of the main compartment was filled with clothes. The rest was taken up by fake documentation, including a Fictional Passport, another handgun, various ropes and clips, lying next to small, black remote flashing a red LED.

“This,” started Taylor, pointing to the remote, “is our backup plan. It’s a GPS alarm transmitter. It lets the agency know when certain, unwanted circumstances have arisen. The system has limited flexibility once you’re deployed, but it’s completely undecipherable – who the hell is going to know what a beeping GPS signal means.”

“How did you get this stuff into the country?” Asked Vanessa.

Taylor chuckled. “That’s for me to know and anyone outside of ‘the agency’ to never find out. Anyway, on this mission, an activation of the transmitter signals that the Fictionals won’t let us out and that ‘they’ should come and get us.”

“They?” asked Sandra apprehensively.

“The Navy.”

“THE NAVY?! We’re invading?!” yelled Sandra.

“No, no, and keep your voice down. You don’t know who’s listening,” Taylor whispered forcefully. “They’ll come and get us out of here… and possibly hit a few priority targets along the way… oh and drop enough supplies to last the rebels a century… I think that’s all anyway... We’ve been monitoring this situation for some time without the current regime knowing a thing – some of my best work in fact. There’s something fishy going on in this place.”

Taylor turned to Vanessa. “Anyway, I can’t activate the transmitter here with all this electronic censoring and jamming but I might have a shot in the wilderness. Can you get us into that base or do I have to kill you?” He winked as he asked, just in case she didn’t possess a sense of humour.

Joseph nodded. "Then let's make sure they're stopped for good." He turned to his guardsmen. "Start unloading and distributing the weapons, and get those advisers on the ground."

"Yes, sir!" The same sergeant from before saluted, and the small number of troopers disappeared behind the trucks. Suddenly, more troopers appeared from the back, unloading crates of weapons and ammunition from the backs of the trucks, lining them up in neat rows. Some guardsmen were already busy prying open the crates with crowbars, and inspecting the contents inside.

Vanessa nodded “sure I can get us into that base” he was right, signal jammers would be weaker out in the desert. She still couldn't believe this man was here, or that he managed to get all this stuff past immigration. She wondered how the reporter would react to roughing it in the desert and grinned “Hey Goldilocks, you'd better be prepared, We'll be ages out of cities, no hotels where we're heading”

Gracia's men helped to unload the weapons and supplies, there was a lot and they were all impressed, so far they had to make do with that they could find and what their few military sympathisers could take without being noticed, this equipment looked far better and much more effective.

“Sooooo, let me get this straight,” Sandra sounded fed up. She turned to Taylor. “You! You just turn up out of nowhere and expect me to believe you’re Googlewooper Intelligence and want to haul me off into the desert with your bag of tricks,” she glanced at the suitcase, “and her!” she turned to Vanessa, “a foreign revolutionary!” Sandra looked smug pleased with herself. She wasn’t going leaving her nice comfy hotel with these clowns.

Taylor exchanged a glance with Vanessa and rolled his eyes.

“Get upstairs and get your cameraman!” he ordered curtly in a markedly raised voice.

“How did you know about Brian?” asked Sandra.

“Uh, spy, remember, bags of tricks, revolutionaries…” came the ‘dumbed down’ reply. “Now get upstairs and get your partner before we leave without you!” Taylors voice was becoming more and more stressed. “Oh, and take this, it’s is for your things. It’ll be a bit less conspicuous than that great collection of bags I saw you bring in.” He tossed the reporter a tattered rucksack. Sandra looked down at the rag in her hands with horror, not moving. “GO!” ordered Taylor sarcastically. Sandra walked out of the room, chastised but still staring at her new luggage open mouthed. Taylor turned to Vanessa. “God! Thirteen foreign assignments, multiple assassinations and at least one nuclear disarmament and I get stuck babysitting her!” He sat down and pulled what looked like a bottle of scotch out of his case.

“What fancy gizmo is that?” asked Vanessa in anticipation.

“Ah, the most important tool a spy can carry,” replied Taylor, pulling the stopper out with a satisfying pop. “Malt liquor, for when you’re waiting for ‘overpaid mannequins’ to pack their bags.” He smiled, winked and took a long swig from the bottle before offering it to Vanessa.

Over an hour later, Sandra and Brian appeared in the doorway. Sandra’s rucksack looked like it was about to burst and the sharp edge of a heel could clearly be seen imprinted at several points. It was also obvious that there were a number of layers being worn under her t-shirt. Brian, being a typical cameraman looked inconspicuous enough in his own clothes. The boxes of camera and recording gear he was struggling under, however, did not.

“And what in the name of hell is all that?” asked Jack in disbelief.

“The camera gear,” puffed Brian, placing the gear on the ground. “Miss Sultry thinks we can still get a good story.”

“Does Miss Sultry,” replied Taylor, thumb and forefinger clamped firmly onto the bridge of his nose, eye squinting in frustration. He picked up his case and put his arm casually around Brian’s shoulder. “Do you know what it’s like to be shot Brian?” Taylor’s voice was soaked with sarcasm.

“No.”

“How about tortured Brian, ever been tortured?”

“No”

“I didn’t think so. Well Brian, I have. It’s what happens if you’re captured spying and that’s exactly what’s going to happen to us if we try and cart half of Hollywood with us around this place. Do you understand Brian?”

“Yes, but Miss Sultry said…”

“I don’t care what Miss Sultry said, Brian and if you want to live neither do you anymore. Do you understand Brian?” Taylor repeated.

“Yeah, I guess…”

“Good man!” Taylor’s voice brightened. “Right, let’s get going then. Leave the excess baggage. You can decide yourself if that includes you Miss Sultry.” He marched out of the door grinning, heading for the nearest fire exit, Brian and Vanessa in tow.

Sandra stood in the doorway for a second, mouth opening and closing in disbelief.

“Wait! Wait for me!” She squealed, running after the others.

The colonel heard the Fictional government official speak with someone on the phone. The tone of voice and the few words he understood suggested that something major had come up. When Thornton told him what had happened, he smiled broadly and patted his assault rifle.

"Excellent. It will be good to see some action again. It's been a while since the last time. As for the prisoner, maybe I should introduce you to my intelligence specialist. Major Toht!"

A soldier with major's insignia on his shoulders stepped out of the line and saluted. He was of average high, with a normal build and a face that was neither ugly nor handsome. He was the sort of man people found it hard to describe, so average was he in every aspect. The only exception was his eyes. They were completely empty, devoid of life and emotion. It was sort of eyes you expected to find in the face of a psychopath or concentration camp guard. The colonel laughted and gestured for him to come forth.

"This is Major Ernst Toht. He is a specialist at extracting information from those who doesn't wish to cooperate. He is the one who will interogate the prisoner. I won't go into details on his methods, but let's just say that I hope for the girl's sake that she won't be too stubborn. Major, what do you need for the interrogation?"

The major was silent for a moment. When he spoke up, it was with a voice that was as average as the rest of him, neither deep nor high-pitched.

"First and foremost an isolated place, like a warehouse or something, where we can conduct the interrogation without being disturbed. Then I need a pair of pliers, about a meter of electrical cable, a bunsen burner, a chair and some duct tape. If you could get me that, it would be a great help."

One of the soldiers had got close enough to hear the order
“Their calling for backup”
“Shit that's the last thing we need! They'll probably come by sea, alert the Navy border patrol”

***

Aboard the Navy vessel The shadow The radio crackled a message
“We have possible hostiles coming in from the Northwest!”
“Roger that, were on our way”

Meanwhile in CA Aquaria Vanessa followed the spy out of the hotel, the Primped up princess reporter and the cameraman close behind. She new the InNightWatch would soon be getting ready to go over the Day tapes and their little encounter in the bar would not go unnoticed, they had an hour maximum to make it out of the city before they were discovered. She and the cameraman kept pace with the spy easily but the reporter kept falling behind. No surprises there, those heels looked most impractical. She turned to the spy
“Do you have transport, only we can't make the whole way on foot” She had her bike (Yes, that is their preferred method of transport, Their small, fast and the GPS dot is easy to locate and disable) but she didn't know whether they spy had anything. And if he did it was probably a car provided by the government, foreign cars not being allowed in the country.
(OOC: I just need to know about the transportation when i know that, i can detail their arrival)

Major Toht was an unremarkable man, Thornton thought, the sort of person he wouldn't give a second glance had he saw him in the street but he knew this was often the case with this kind of person, many of the people who worked in interrogation even here were unnervingly normal.
“There is a warehouse a few miles outside the nearest city, the people never go there they are superstitious” he couldn't help smiling at just how foolish the people could be “They think the place is haunted by demons. I will send someone to prepare it with the things you have requested” He gave a few orders to a nearby soldier who saluted and went off to fulfil them, he was soon replaced by a new soldier who told them that the rebel's information was correct and there was a base where she had said there would be
“All right, This should be simple, they are not expecting us, so we should have the element of surprise on our side. It's just a case of in, capture the leaders kill the rest. The leaders of that terrorist cell should then be able to tell us where more are located.”

***

A small white van stood outside the “Haunted” Warehouse, tied up in the back was the captured rebel. She looked in a bad way, like she had undergone hours of brutal “interrogation” and there was still more to come.
(OOC: the way i see it there are three options. 1. The interrogation is done on a turn by turn basis, where you post the question and i the reply. 2. You TG what information you want your your guy to get and I'll TG the reply then leave you to write out the interrogation in as much or as little detail as you want. 3. The interrogation is left out and we just assume it's happened. I'll leave you to decide what you want to do)

Katie and the rest finally arrived at the rebel base the atmosphere there was quite busy, rebels and foreign military (obviously on the rebels side) were unloading supplies and testing out (or in a couple of cases being showed how to use) the new weapons.

We have a mutual friend in Parliament House back in Whiskeasy. He told me to tell you that we can call in the big package when your ready. The big package is a mix of explosives for bomb making and heavy artillery. It is also coming with a load of light mortars which I thoroughly recommend for raids and fire support. My primary objective however is to kill the General. We believe that if we conduct a full-scale attack as a division my squad and some other commandos can get to the Generals safe room and blow it sky high, not only killing him but destroying all traces of control. But I do need some more men sir, I can't do it with just us. Would any other foreigners be interested, sir?"

The major nodded and walked off, gesturing to two of the soldiers to follow him. The colonel watched him disappear and then turned back to Thornton.

"Understood. Can you arrange some kind of transport so we can get south? It's hard to transport heavy equipment by plane, unfortunately. There's one more thing. One of our carrier groups is waiting outside your territorial waters, and I have the authority to call in airstrikes. When we have pinpointed the location of more enemy bases, I could have them bombed by smart missiles. We can kill a sizeable part of the rebel leadership without them even knowing what hit them."

In space over Fictions

A Zaheranian reconnaissance satellite was passing over Fictions, taking photos of the ground below it. The images were relayed via a communication satellite to computers in the headquarters of the CID. A senior analyst was looking through the photos when he saw something in the northwest corner of the island that caught his eyes. He zoomed in to see what it was. His face turned pale. With a curse he threw himself on the phone.

"Give me the commander of Strike Force Pacific!"

The Pacific ocean
Aboard HMS Wrath of Nemesis

Admiral Wahnschaffe put down the phone and turned to face his second-in-command with an anxious look on his face.

"Külbach, what submarines do we have in the Pacific at the moment?"

"Ten, sir. The Elbing and the Frauenlob are travelling with us, the Steinhammer, the Kapellenberg and the Ludwigshafen can reach us on an hour's notice. The others are three hours or more away. What's going on, sir?

"The intel chaps have detected a unidentified fleet outside Fictional waters. We have been orderered to intercept, but to do it as quietly as possible. Okay, I want the Elbing and Frauenlob on their way within ten minutes, and order the rest to follow them as quickly as possible. Permission to fire has been given. Then ready a squadron of Hornets and give the AAW ships order to be ready for an attack. The satellite didn't see any aircraft carriers, but we won't take any risks."

After recieving their orders, the carrier group's two Type 212 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_212_submarine) submarines submerged and headed for Fictions at a speed of 20 knots. It would take them about half an hour to reach their target. Three more of their sister ships were also coming to join the party, but it would take time for them to get into position. For the moment, the Elbing and the Frauenlob were on their own.

Gracia listened intently, they were right, Killing Drabek would leave the government helpless, they hadn't been planning an assassination until quite a bit later but now, especially after the government staged an attack to put them in a bad light, it was essential they get this over with soon before the government got even more support and even find their bases.
"Yes, I'll get as many of my people as i can to help you with this. I'll ask around this camp and if you like, I'll send messages to other units"

Major Josef listened carefully to the plan as laid out by the Whiskeasian and Gracia, going over it in his mind. Assassinating the head of state would certainly be no easy task. His military mind was already poking holes all over the theory.

"Well, it certainly is an ambitious plan." He began, choosing his words carefully as to not totally shatter Gracia's hopes. "But a full-scale attack seems a bit premature at this stage. For starters, the Government Palace is probably very well defended by troops loyal to the General, and full attack would be met with heavy resistance. Furthermore, the whole mission would have to be run on a time limit. The palace is probably in constant communications with all branches of the military, and any attack would send the Army running to secure it. To make things even worse, the palace is (OOC: probably) situated in the middle of a heavy urban area, and just getting that many people to the palace would be a problem. I would suggest finding a more stealthy approach, or find a way to cut off the palace's contact with the outside world. The attack would most certainly have to take place at night, and a small team would have to be inserted beforehand to shut off the power, and open the palace to outside assault." He took a breath. "I suppose it can happen, but it's just not a realistic option right now. You need more popular support first."

Thornton nodded "we can arrange transport, when should the raid be carried out?"

The colonel thought about it for a moment.

"As soon as possible. If the rebel leadership are at the base, we must strike before they have time to move out. I suggest we surround the rebel base with soldiers from the Fictional Army. Seal off the area completely, no one can be allowed to escape. All strong defensive positions will be attacked by airplanes and attack helicopters, then I and my men move in. If we don't manage to break the enemy defences, we retreat and you shell the base with artillery until all resistance has been broken. What do you think?"

_________________________

Major Toht and his two assistants had now reached the warehouse. The rebel was taken from the van, dragged into the warehouse and taped to a chair. Toht took a look at her as he open his bag and took out his equipment. She seemed to be quite broken already, so maybe he wouldn't have to use his tools. A pity. He liked using his tools. He sat down on another chair facing the prisoner and gave her a friendly smile.

"Hi there. My name is Ernst Toht. You have some information to give us, so I will ask you a few questions. But there are a few rules. If you lie, I will know it, and then you will be punished. Every time you lie to me, I will remove one of your fingernails. If you continue lying, we will move on to your toenails. If you continue to lie after that, the punishment will get harsher. But if you tell me the truth and are a nice girl, nothing will happen to you. Do you understand."

The girl just stared at him with her eyes full of terror. The smile disappeared from Toht's face and he leaned closer.

"Do you understand me, or should we get started with the punishment already?"

The girl shook her head frantically.

"No, please, no! I understand!"

The smile returned to Toht's lips.

"Very good. First question. What is your name?"

"August", the girl mumbled.

"See how easy it is? Good, August, then we move on to the second question. Why did you rebel against your legitimate government, and what do you wish to achieve?"

"It was for good of the people. We..."

She started to babble in Fictin. Toht shook his head and told one of his assistants to hold her. He gripped the nail on her index finger with the plier and pulled it out. The girl cried out in shock and pain. Toht looked solemnly into her eyes.

"You will speak only in English. Continue."

The rebel did so, sobbing and with tears in her eyes.

"We wish to overthrow government."

"How are you organised?"

"Gracia head the main base. We get orders from him."

"From what bases do you operate?"

"I know only two. My and the main one. It is truth, I swear!"

"I believe you. How do you plan to achieve your goals?"

"We will attack government buildings and try to kill Bryce Drabek. He is dictator."

"I understand. How do you communicate with each other?"

"We speak or send bird with message."

"Are you recieving support from any external sources?"

"Yes. I no know who they are."

"Do you have supporters in the government?"

"Yes, but I no know who."

"Do you know of any planned attacks?"

"No. I no plan, only carry out orders."

"What kind of weapons do you have?"

"My group have bombs, guns, one..what say... big car with gun."

"A tank?"

"Yes. We steal it from government. Other groups, I no know."

"Can you give me the names of the rebel leaders you know of?"

The girl hesitated for a moment. But when Toht showed her the pliers, still bloody, she quickly gave in.

"Harold Newstead is leader my group. Aaaron Gracia is leader all rebels. I no know others."

Toht smiled to her and rised from his chair.

"That was all I had for know. Do you see how easy it is if you cooperate? I only had to punish you once."

He ordered his assistants to return her to the van. One of the soldiers, who had been keeping records on the interrogation, handed him his notes before he he turned to help his comrade. Toht looked through it. The girl had revealed many useful things, even if she he had been a low-ranker. He cleaned the pliers with a rag before he returned it to the bag. The colonel would pleased with him.

Biggs had just returned from his siesta to hear this, he saluted to the two men and said "Yes, you are right. Perhaps a diversionary attack by the rebels on a different major building why my and assisting forces attack the compound. Perhaps blowing a hole into one of the rear walls and infiltrating from there. If we did that then perhaps we could get him in his sleep. Of course I do have one more thing to offer you. Several miles of the coast there is a 'neutral' submarine. It has the ability to fire ballistic cruise missiles. Perhaps we could clear the way by dropping that on them. Then we could infiltrate and confirm the kill. Another way I was thinking was what about a roadside bomb? The Palace only has one entrance. We create a bomb bury it into the side of the road and detonate it as his car comes along. If we are going to infiltrate into the Palace we need to take out the power and the security cameras. We need a jammer in the area to block the radio signals the cameras put out, well that and the Compounds Radio transmissions and ours as well. The hard lines would need to be destroyed as well. This is all going on the fact we can draw any nearby military units to the defense of the building your troops are attacking. I don't know but we're going to need to kill him soon. Are there any upcoming public events."

Gracia shook his head “There would have been something happening a few days from now but it has been cancelled. It will be difficult, and like Josef said, now may be a bit premature, we have recently lost a lot of our public support through no fault of our own so a lot of the people are on the side of the Government....”

***

Thornton nodded at the colonels suggestion “yes that will work” he immediately started giving out orders and getting his troops ready, if everything went according to plan they would have the base surrounded within the hour, City Tyrosor was not far from here and the base was in the desert area around that city.

***

August sat sobbing and shaking in the van. she hurt all over from the previous investigation with the Fictions officials and her finger was still bleeding from this one. she knew she had betrayed her people and the feeling of guilt was almost as bad as the pain but she hoped she would not be brought back to that man. The man with the empty eyes. She knew she was going to die, that's what happened in this country if you tried to rebel and she hoped death would come soon and she wouldn't have to face whatever punishment these monsters had planned for her next.

***

The City Tyrosor rebel base known as “Rex” for reasons unexplained was the thrid largest, second only to that of City Majovul (known as “Jimmi” for reasons equally obscure) and third to that of “Main” (self explanatory)
Inside the Tyrosor base, things were normal, they were not expecting an attack as they assumed their position was unknown. Little did they know that as they went on with whatever they were doing the military of Fictions and Zaheran were planning a raid.

The then CA Aquaria building, Nigel Paine of the InNightWatch was going over the day's recordings. He didn't even have an interesting part of town, some hotel where nothing ever happened. he skipped through many hours of nothing. People checking in, checking out having conversations. after about a Hour he reached 9:00 and in the singers bar something interesting happened at last. A foreigner, a guest at the hotel, had entered the bar and started talking to a local woman. Nothing odd there, it's a bar, maybe the two were friends who'd come to meet up but after a while of (admittedly skipping thigh) the the majority of their conversation a man entered and lead the two women out one of them, the foreigner seemed to be panicking, while the local girl seemed to just be approaching the situation with the usual mix of suspicion and paranoia that was signature of a lot of the population. He watched the three enter one of the rooms. then after some fast forwarding the foreigner exited the room holding a backpack, the local girl didn't re-emerge and neither did the man. He fast forwarded some more until the foreigner reappeared, the backpack full, and followed by a man struggling under what looked like camera equipment. he fast forwarded and the then all four left the room (the camera equipment was left behind) and they left the building via a fire exit. Nigel reached for a phone
“Hello, Send some people to examine room 24 in the hotel on Cevot Avenue”

***

In the hotel, the room in question, Taylor's room. was being thoroughly investigated the camera equipment that had been left behind was found to be belonging to a Googlewoop news channel. Apart from that the room was ordinary enough but the whole thing was wrong. Why had they left in such a hurry? and why were such an odd mix of people together in the first place? Three foreigners (two of which were in media) and one local. Perhaps these people would care to explain what they were doing to their interrogators, but first they had to be caught.

The Fictionals were pleasant people to work with, the colonel thought. Efficient, cooperating and with no false pride hindering them from taking advice.

"Very well, maybe we should start moving south. You said you could organise some kind of transport?"

He saw Toht come walking towards him, apparently already finished with the interrogation of the prisoner. The major saluted and handed him the notes without comment. The colonel looked through them, noticing the small red stains on the white paper. Well, Toht had his methods, and he had no desire to know what the major really did to his suspects, even if he had his suspicions. The only thing that mattered was the results. And this was some interesting information. The rebel's cell had a tank? How the hell had they managed to get their hands on that? And they communicated via letters sent with pigeons. That was important. If they started to shoot down doves, they might both get hold of important information and prevent the invidual cells from cooperating with each other.

"Enter" he said simply. An Aide scuttled into the room
"Sir, remember the man who cut off the electricity?"
"What about him?"
"interrogation finished with him a while back. It turns out the rebels have a lot of public support in City Majovul."
Drabek nodded solemnly and said slowly "I do believe i know where the 'rebels' are going to strike"

OOC: Just a few things, Googlewoop. Firstly, I think it's would be an overstatement to call the Varangian Mercenary Force (http://nationstates.wikia.com/wiki/User:Varangians#Marines) a major power, especially when comparing it to the other powers involved. Secondly, as you can see in this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14183881&postcount=124) post, he is going in with his Marine Force to extract his ground forces, hence he is not in international waters. Thirdly, a Fictional naval border patrol (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14185861&postcount=127) is coming in to intercept, so there will be no need to cover up any battle. If someone notices that a few ships were sunk by submarines, then there is more reason to assume that they are Fictional than that they are mine. After all, I'm not officially involved in this conflict. ;)

TO: Whom it may concern
As you may or may not know, Fictions is currently experiencing some civil unrest. Your mercenary forces surely knew this and sent a letter offering their services, which we refused on the basis that this is a small trouble that can easily be fixed without intervention.
You would think that any man would be able to take no for an answer and accept a denial. But no. Despite that they still took it upon themselves to cross Fictional borders without permission and quite illegally. This in itself would not have been such a bad thing had they then not acted with hostility towards our country and attacked one of our border patrols. This display of hostility towards our country will not be tolerated.
However as our countries have no histories of conflict or hostility I am at a loss to think why such an event would have been ordered, which leads me to believe that they acted without the DaWoad government’s consent or permission and I hope this misunderstanding can be sorted out without any further loss of life. We do not want conflict with you and wish to sort this out with the minimum of trouble. I hope for your co-operation in this matter.

The colonel had ultimately decided on another tactic than the one he had first proposed. Instead of first attacking with aircraft, one of the teams would make a feint attack on the west side side of the base, hopefully making the rebels send all their available manpower there to repulse the enemy. Then the other teams would sneak in and attack the rebels in the rear. In this way, he hoped that the rebels' morale would break when they found that they were encircled and with no way to escape.

The west side of the rebel base

It started at 1800 hours, military time. A group consisting of fifty men from Team "Shadow", who were hiding behind a big sand dune three hundred meters from the base, began to crawl forwards over the hot desert sand, hidden from watchful eyes by the patterns of their camouflage uniforms and what cover they could find in this sterile environment. When they were fifty meters from the first of the buildings, fifteen men took aim with their rifles and flipped the fire selector switch to 'Grenade Launcher'. The commanding officer looked at the base through his binoculars. No movement could be seen. Okay, he thought, time to wake the rebels up. He raised his arm. Fifteen high-explosive grenades flew through the air towards the base, exploding with loud bangs.

On a hill five hundred meters away, another group from Team Shadow were prepared to do their part of the attack. Twenty light machine guns were aimed and ready, prepared to mow down the rebels as soon as they came out from their hiding. Behind the hill the rest of the team was waiting. If everything went the way it was planned, they would play no part in the assault. But the commanding officers, experienced as they were, knew that plans only lasted to the first shot was fired. If something went wrong, they would have to reinforce the relatively small group closer to the base.

The signal for the machinegunners came in the form of a series of loud explosions. They waited to they could see the first rebels come out, then five of the machine guns started to fire, spitting death at those who had dared to challenge the Fictional government.

__________________________

Eastern, Northern and Southern sides of the base

As the firing started in the West, small teams of SSC soldiers began crawl towards the base from the other cardinal points. They had strict orders not to fire unless fired upon, at least until they were inside the base. The Eastern group, "Ninja", would try to locate the enemy headquarters and capture the officers. The others, "Knife" and "Raven", would attack the enemy in the rear to relieve their comrades in "Shadow" and force the enemy to surrender.

Just one question, where are the Fictions soldiers in this, are they scattered with yours or are they separate?)
IC:
BANG
The base awoke
BANG
The rebels knew they were found. Somehow the government had found out where they were and are attacking.
BANG
They grabbed whatever weapons they could find.
BANG
Four of the rebels ran towards the stolen tank.
BANG
“It's coming from the west, Darren, take some people and try and hold them back. Tina get a group and try to get help. The rest of us defend this place”
BANG
Darren and about 60 rebels left the base to the west, Tina and about 5 other left to the east to try and get help.
The moment they came within sight of the enemy forces they were fired at. Though out weaponed and (they thought) probably outnumbered they still retaliated.

The City Majovul University was quiet. apart from the occasional Student. Private Gibbin was just finishing off placing as much C4 as he could in various points around the campus, he was unnoticed. No one gave him a second glance. He finished placing the explosives and got to safe distance. He set off the detonators

“Hello, and your watching F-Triple- N with Rob Lloyd, Yet another attack by the rebels has happened, this time at the City Majovul University, the scale of this attack by the rebels is perhaps even more than the previous with the entire building destroyed. Over to our correspondent Joe Agon to find out more” The screen flicks to a man holding a microphone standing in-front of what was once a university but is now an unrecognisable pile of rubble in the backgrond emergency teams are trying to find surviors
“A terrible scene here, outside of what was once the City Majovul University” The reporter paused as though expecting to be told the transition was cut but when he wasn't he continued “The Rebels have struck again causing deviation and massive loss of life...” the report continued to outline the incident urging anyone with information on the rebels to step forward, because it is only with the help of the public can these terrorists be brought to justice...

In the main base, a bird landed on one of the rebel's head, the rebel took the bird and read the message attached to it's leg. The rebel went up to Gracia and wordlessly handed him the note, he read:
C.Majovul Uni Attacked by Gov. Made to look like us. More support lost. Urgent action needed.
Gracia froze and stared at the message the rest of the word had stopped, or so it felt to him. How could everything be falling apart like this, for the second time he felt like they would fail and everything he had worked for would be for nothing. He still had not uttered a word since receiving the message.

It took a about an hour and a half to get this far into the desert, an hour and a half spent mainly in silence occasionally punctuated by Sandra finding something to complain about
“Look, were almost there, you can just see the base” Vanessa pointed towards some makeshift looking buildings in the distance. She didn’t even glance at the reporter but just continued on the way.
Arriving at the base one of the Rebels on guard called out
“Hey, Vanessa, who’s them you have?”
“That’s Generic Brian, that’s Taylor the Spy, not government. And that’s Princess Goldilocks, international news reporter, world class complainer and winner of the gold medal for inappropriate packing”
The rebel on guard laughed and let them in
“So what’ the spy want anyway”
“Something about getting away from signal blockers to get Goldi out of the country”

OOC: Separate. What kind of tank do the rebels have?

IC:

The SSC soldiers had taken good cover in the sand dunes and were scattered over a large area, so the enemy's fire did no harm. As long as the rebels did not get close enough to engage them in close combat, they posed no great threat to experienced soldiers who know how to not expose themselves unnecessarily, and the Zaheranians had no intention of letting them come close. The men carrying grenade launchers took aim and fired again, sending fifteen more grenades hailing over the rebel positions. To further the confusion among the enemies, this time five tear gas grenades were mixed into the volley.

Two more machine guns opened up from their position on the hill, adding into the heavy firing against the rebel positions. A group consisting of twenty more soldiers were silently moving forward behind the first group, running from cover to cover. Team "Shadows" orders were to hold their positions at any cost, and the commander wanted to make sure that they would be able to do so. With the group reinforced to seventy men, he was sure that they could break anything the rebels threw at them, especially considering the heavy fire support from the machine guns.

_______________________

Team "Ninja" was only twenty meters from the base when they saw the six rebels coming running against them. They quickly threw themselves on the ground, hoping that the dusk and their camouflage uniforms would hide them from the enemy's eyes. They would let the rebels pass, as they had a more important mission and could not afford to be revealed until they were inside the base. Unless the rebels discovered them, they posed no threat, and outside the base the Fictional Army was waiting, as they would probably discover soon.

(OOC: Their tank is a Fictions made one similar to a Leopard 1, they got it with help)

The Tear gas grenades exploded and the rebels affected started coughing violently, and trying to get away from it they retreated back to the base, those unaffected tried to get close enough to do damage but the machine gunners got them before they had a chance.

The rebels in the base were trying to get as high up as they could, by going onto the roofs of what buildings were there and were fiering at anyone who came in their line of vision.

***

The Fictions army watched the six rebels, an indication from an officer told them to take the woman, who seemed to be in-charge of the six alive.

The tank was being kept inside the base for now as inside defense incase any of the enemy tried anything on the base itself

Drabek watched the repot on the University bombing with some satisfaction, already he had heard about people in the cities which he had staged attacks, Cities Majovul and Ibea the people were openly protesting against the rebels, these were protests he did nothing to stop, they were good for the anti-rebel feeling, if that feeling was to spread it would only be a matter of time before someone reviled Gracia's location.

In his small office which he shared with two more Aides, Drabek's main aide was staring blankly at the wall, too numb to feel anything but guilt. he had done the unforgivable, he had carried out his orders and that made him directly responsible for the death of his own son. He buried his head in his hands in shame, unable to look anyone in the eyes.

Taylor couldn’t possibly be happier to have arrived… finally. Anymore of Sandra’s persistent whining and he may come close to shooting himself. He stopped to take a small drink of water from the canteen he was carrying around his waste before pulling the intelligence agency transmitter out of one of the pockets in his combat trousers. He entered a code on the number pad and the flashing LED turned green.

“There, that should about do it,” he muttered looking at the small LCD display. “Good signal out here…” He turned to Vanessa. “Thank you for getting us here. Now is there someone in charge I can talk too?”

Unknown Googlewooper Intelligence Agency headquarters, some hours later

The director opened the door. His tie was loosely tied and it and his shirt were crumpled. His face told the operatives in the room that he was not happy about being woken up.

“This had better be good, kid,” he grumbled at the young agent, the only man occupying one of the several computers in the room.

“Yes Sir,” replied the agent. “We’ve been working on this for some time, say a few hours,” he started, gesturing to the map of a small island nation on his screen. A red dot was flashing over an inland portion of the landmass. “There’s some kind of jamming interfering with the signal but we’re pretty sure it’s Harris’ GPS transmitter. The director instantly focused. Whenever one of these things went off he inevitably ended up briefing the President on some hostage situation and missing about three nights sleep.

“What was the transmission situation on this mission?” queried the director. He had too many operatives in too many small, volatile countries to keep track of all of either. The younger agent glanced back at his screen.

“Closed borders. Extraction by the Navy, sir.”

“Well at least he’s not in some gulag somewhere,” sighed the director. “When you say ‘pretty sure’, how sure do you mean? I don’t want to take this to the President only to have the navy land on top of a malfunctioning GPS in some poor bastards car!”

“I’m almost positive sir,” came the reply.

“Very well son, have the mission file on my desk in five,” ordered the director, walking out of the room. It was going to be a long week.

It seemed like Team Shadow's attack ad been a little too succesful. The rebels were retreating into the base instead of remaining on the western side. That would make the other teams' attempt to infiltrate and take the enemy by surprise harder. To increase the pressure on the enemy and force them to remain where they were, Shadow began to slowly advance, using tear gas and suppressive fire from the machine guns to make the enemy keep their heads down. They moved from cover to cover, carefully making sure to not expose themselves to enemy fire. Hidden behind a sand dune, a lieutenant speaking Fictin used a megaphone to demand rebel's surrender. The booming voice could be heard clearly over the explosions and gunfire

"Attention, terrorists! You have ten minutes to lay down your weapons and clear the base. No one who surrender will be harmed. Those who don't will be killed without remorse. This is your first and final warning. I repeat, you have ten minutes to surrender. Everyone found carrying a weapon after that will be killed without remorse."

Team "Ninja" had resumed their advance against the base. They had been informed about the rebels' retreat, but hoped that they would still be able to sneak in unnoticed, as the rebels probably would have their attention directed against the assault on the western side of the base. In the north and south, "Knife" and "Raven" were doing the same.

Biggs looked at them and said "Well, tomorrow at 23:30 my men are going in. We will destroy the local power plant and create a car bomb seven miles away, this should suck away any localized troop formations. Then we will set up a portable jammer and attack by blowing up one of the side walls into a surveillance room. We will throw grenades into the security room before heading into the main complex. Hopefully the General will be asleep in his bed, if he is in the bomb shelter, nothing can be done. We will cover it with rubble and flee. If he is in his room, well a double tap to the face should suffice. I predict the whole raid into the palace will take three to five minutes. Unless serious opposition is encountered. I would like some help though. Someone to block relieving troops and four extra men in there would be perfect. Oh and extraction, I want a helio or getaway vehicle within one mile of the target. Then get me to the coast and we shall be gone. And you will be king of the castle."

The rebels had not surrendered, but the ultimatum had served its purpose even so. The enemy had been distracted for an important minute, allowing "Ninja", "Knife" and "Raven" to get into position. The trap was sprung. Grenadiers raised their weapons to their shoulders, unleashing a hail of fire on the unsuspecting enemy. The soldiers lying in cover outside the west side of the base as the first explosions shook the ground. Clouds of tear gas and smoke filled the air as the Zaheranians advanced, but as the soldiers had been issued gas masks, they could move and breath as normal. The SSC soldiers moved like shadows in the artificial fog, using their combat knives with great skill in close combat with the enemy. They were trying to not kill too many, as they needed the information these men could provide as prisoners.

The "Ninja" team in particular was trying to not use deadly force, as their task was to capture the enemy leaders. They had heard a man shout out orders when the ultimatum was delivered, and now they trying to cut off the section where they suspected him to be from the rest of the rebels. They used rubber bullets and the butts of their assault rifles to render the enemy harmless as they fought their way forward.

The attack came before the rebels had time to react. The tear gas had done it's work leaving most vulnerable to attack, a few rebels tried to fight back, but their attacks were useless in the blinding mist, a few of the rebels tried to escape out of the base but the few who made it out were promptly captured by the Fictions soldiers who were waiting outside. A few of those those that remained in were killed but for the most they were just rendered helpless and captured.

Back in the Main base Gracia was still staring at the massage that had been brought that told about the attack but the Whiskeasians speaking bright him back to earth, he listened to their proposition

In the Government Building the aide was sitting in his office I have to do something he thought desperately. things had gone too far. maybe this surge of morality was caused by the death of his son, or maybe it was something else. Whatever caused it, he felt he had to do something to make his conscience even slightly more clear. He picked up the phone.
"Hello, A.M.A.P.P.M.I. Phone office, how may I help you?"
"This is Phillips from the government building, I need you to send me a recording of all calls made between A.M.A.P.P.M.I. and here in the last 72 hours, I know you have them."
"Do you have a written request?"
"No, just orders from the general. I really don't want to have to tell him I couldn't get those calls because someone refused to co-operate"
A pause at the other end of the line then
"No, No I'll send them right away, that was Phillips correct?"
"Yes"
Another pause
"I'm new, I don't want trouble, please don't say I was un-co-operative"
"If you send me those recordings, we'll say no more about it" He hung up a few minutes later an e-mail popped up to his work address. He opened it and began trawling though the calls for anything that might incriminate the government, reflecting on his luck that a newbie had answered the phone rather than a more senior member of staff who would have known something was wrong. This time yesterday he was wholly loyal to this government, and now he was trying to undermine it. It was with this thought that he knew his life would surely be almost over.

In retrospect no jammer will cover the whole area and the land lines are deep underground. They would see us coming from a mile off with the cameras. We need someone to beat up the power generator and connection lines in the main building. It is probably in the same room I would imagine. With deft hands the SSC soldiers handcuffed the surviving rebels and put sacks over their heads. Under strict surveillance from machine guns and assault rifles, they were roughly hauled out of the base and handed over to the Fictional Army.

The Zaheranians then returned to the base, which they began to pick clean of everything of any value. They were primarily searching for documents and other information that might give them an edge in the campaign, but the rebels' weapons and other equipment were taken too. Some of it would be handed over to the Fictionals, but most would simply be confiscated and sold on the open market to cover part of Zaheran's outlays in the conflict.

One search party was very surprised when they found an abandoned tank in the camp, obviously stolen from the government. After a couple of failed attempts they managed to get it to work and drove it out of the base, making a great stir among their comrades. When the base was completely picked clean, the SSC soldiers sat fire to it. The flames lighted up the night as the soldiers laughted and celebrated the victory, a stern warning to those that sought to challenge the Fictional government.

The surviving rebels were roughly forced into armoured vehicles which they would be then transferred to a building just outside Capital Aquaria known only as the interrogation block, if they had anything to say it would be said there. For the most part spirits was high as they watched the flames engulf what was once the rebel base. Unknown to them however a rebel from another faction who was going to deliver a message but had, from a safe distance away (the light would carry in the darkness) has seen the fire and had immediately turned around to tell Gracia what must have happened.

Drabek was in his office when a knock at the door sounded and Martin Phillips, the aide, entered
“What?” the question was brusque and not very polite
“I just received word the Zaheran/Fictions attack on the rebel base was a successes they have several of the terrorists in interrogation, we should be able to learn a lot from them”
“Well, isn't that good news. Keep me up to date on any new developments will you?”
“Yessir”
Drabek nodded and waved a hand absentmindedly to indicate the aide should leave. Phillips did so he had more work to do he piked out the most incriminating calls, namely the ones about the staged attacks, and he was now going though all his own paperwork for anything else that may be useful.

Gracia bowed his head slightly to the Whiskeasians in an apologetic manner
“I'm sorry, I meant no offence I--” His sentence was cut short however by a rebel who came into the base too fast and fell off his motorbike in his haste to dismount as fast as possible without fully braking

"Sir, it seems that the tide is turning against the rebel forces. Allegedly, government troops have attacked civilian targets, placing the blame squarely on the rebels. As a result, they have lost much popular support."

"I see." Zyvan paused for a moment. "You have your orders, Major."

"Yes, sir." Josef said, giving a sharp salute with parade-ground precision.

"The Emperor is watching the situation personally, Major."

"I will not fail His Majesty." The Major said, cutting the link. He put his officer's cap back on his head, and went to find Gracia. He found him a few minutes later, talking to the Whiskeasian mercenary, and another rebel.

"The C.Tyrosor faction. Friends of yours?" The major remarked.

“They were on our side if that is what you mean” Gracia paused for a moment then continued “But yes I had a few friends there.” He turned to address the rebel who had quite unceremoniously brought the news “Were there any survivors?”
“I don't know, I couldn't see that far. But... They probably left some alive, to take for.... for questioning” The rebel stopped they both knew what questioning meant
“In that faction, only Newstead knows where our base is. If they caught him and get him to talk they will launch a similar attack against us. I want everyone prepared for the possibility of attack” Gracia hoped that it wouldn't come to that. Yes he had served his two years compulsory service but he knew he did not have a military mind. The room in the Interrogation Block was dank and cold. Harold Newstead had been here for almost half an hour and had still not talked, he was beaten bruised and bleeding and he still refused to speak.

“I will only ask you this one more time. Where is the main rebel base. Everyone else has said you know where it is”

“I...I'm not saying”

The interrogator nodded solemnly and took a soldering iron and plugged it in

“May I ask you to reconsider that answer? No? Well that is a shame...I had hoped you would have talked before I had to use special methods”

The interrogator took the now hot iron and applied it to the rebels forehead. Newstead yelled out in pain and jerked his head back but the interrogator kept the iron firmly there

“Will you talk now?”

The colonel lowered his binoculars with a cruel smile. His men had performed excellently, as always. All the rebels killed or captured, and with no casualties on their side. The burning base was an excellent monument to their victory, and a warning to others. He had no doubt that the rebels had noticed the fire. The giant flames could probably be seen from many miles away, they would be blind if they were to miss it. No, they would see, and they would know fear, know that justice was coming for them. He would have to work out a different tactic the next time, though. Now the rebels would expect that they would be attacked, and they would raise their security. In vain, of course. Because against what he had planned for them, they had no defence. Death would come from afar, as cold and surgical as a surgeon's scalpel, and it would remove the cancer that for so long had been growing in the heart of Fictions. With a laughter he turned to the communications officer.

"Give me the commander of Strike Force Pacific!"

"He wants what?!"

Külbach faced his superior's rage with his usual calm.

"Two Virginia-class submarines for elimination of land targets. You have the authority to request additional forces if the need arises, as the colonel pointed out. He takes the responsibilty fully upon himself."

The admiral groaned.

"Tell that to Admiral Salcher. He'll hate me for taking two of his beloved subs, no matter what. And he's very unforgiving. He'll try to make life unpleasant for me for the rest of my life, the bastard. Oh well, I sign the damned paper, even if I'll regret it. Anything else from the army pukes?"

"The campaign is going well. One rebel base has already been destroyed, and they hope to find the main one soon. That's why they needs the subs. They're going to try a strike with Tomahawks, and as our destroyers can't be used as this stage, they need something covert. Shall I give the orders, sir?"

"Do so. I'll start writing my last will in the meantime. Salcher's going to bite my head off when we get back."

Otto Ciliax Naval Base, Zahmer
16 hours later

The two submarines that had been assigned to the Fictional campaign, the Erich Forste and the Gneisenau, silently left the giant naval base. Each carried 12 Tomahawk missiles, which would be used to raze the main rebel camp to the ground, once it was found, that was. It would take them 48 hours to reach their destination, hopefully enough time for the ground forces to find the location of the rebels' main base. The commander in charge of the Fictional operation wanted to finish the rebels off as soon as possible, before they had time to react to the first attack and strike back.

Thornton had been watching the flames with the Zaheran colonel when the colonel had went to make a call. Though he didn't make a point of eavesdropping, no that was those A.M.A.P.P.M.I. bastards who did the poking around, he heard something about two subs. He watched the flames a moment longer, there was something relaxing about fire he always thought. His phone rang

Phillips watched Higgins stand up and leave for the meeting. He had always suspected something about that man but now that didn't matter. Nothing mattered to him anymore. he waited about ten minutes then transferring all his files onto a memory stick and picking up a folder at random and walked to Drabek's office
"Drabek is in a meeting" One of the guards outside Drabek's office indicated that he would have to go to the meeting room if he wanted to speak to the general
"It's alright, I just need to leave this report on his desk"
The guard looked at him suspiciously
"Five minutes. Just 'cos I know you Phillips"
"Thankyou" Phillips went into the empty office and turned on Drabek's computer plugging in his memory stick and from Drabek's official E-mail (He had not logged off as he was not expecting anyone to come into his office, let alone onto his computer) and sent the entire file content to each major news broadcaster, news paper and radio station.
"What do you think your doing?" Phillips looked up and went pale...

"I'm sorry to hear that." Major Josef said somberly. "It seems like things just go from bad to worse since we showed up. But this...development might have given me an idea. If we can liberate the captured prisoners, we can have them attest to the treatment they've received at the hands of the government. And from what I have learned about this country, the government does not treat their prisoners well."

The colonel returned in time to hear the last words. He laughted quietly and looked out over the desert. The flames had begun to die out at the former rebel base, deprived of combustible material.

"When I fought in our Civil War against the communists, we came across men that where able to resist any torture, that wouldn't speak despite being tormented for days and weeks. But we found a method to break them. We took their beloved ones; their friends, children, wives, parents. We brought them to the interrogation room and poured petrol or some other flammable liquid over them. Then one of us took a out lighter and showed it to the subject. We told them that either they told us everything they know, or their beloved once would burn as human torches. Most told us at once. Those who didn't wished they had. After having watched their friends and relatives burn to death, they were in such a bad mental state that we let them go. Without exceptions, they killed themselves within two days. They couldn't live with their loss. After that, no prisoner withheld information from us. They started talking as soon as they got captured."

Gracia considered Joself's idea “yes everyone on some basic level knows that interrogation is torture, but no-one knows anything for certain, its more a rumour getting them will open the public's eyes and make them see what the government is really like, But there is a problem. The interrogation block is well guarded, its like a maximum security prison and getting in will be hard”

***

Thornton listened to the colonel, the idea was a good one. Surely any normal person would reveal their deepest, best kept secrets rather than see their loved ones go up in flames and there was something poetic about that. Only with fire comes truth....He made the call and told the interrogators what to do.

***

Drabek walked into his office towards the Phillips. He had been suspicious the moment that Higgins had been sent to the meeting instead of Phillips.
“What do you think your doing?” He repeated
The aide still did not speak, Drabek walked over to him and looked at the screen. Then without saying a word, he pulled a pistol, which he always carried, for self defence, out and shot the man squarely in the forehead.
“I want the guard who let him into my office without my permission to step forward”
Hesitantly the guard did what he was told
“Really Decker, I would have expected better from you” He shot the guard as well then motioned to some other to clear away the bodies. He walked over to his phone and called A/M.A.P.P.M.I.
“One or more E-mails were just sent from my account. I want them deleted.”

In a small but pleasant apartment in City Tyrosor Lily Christa-Newstead was tucking her one year old son back into bed, she kissed the small child on the forehead and smiled, life for her was perfect, she had a good job, a wonderful husband and a beautiful baby. She was happy. A knock came at the door she opened it tentatively. Who came calling at this hour? She gasped, standing outside her door were two government officials. What had she done? She had always obeyed the law, never said or did anything wrong, so why where they there?
“Are you Lily Christa?”
“Y-yes....H-how can I help you?”
“We need you to come with us”
“I haven't done anything!”
“Do not argue Mrs Christa”
“B-but my son! I can't leave my son!”
“Take the child with you then”
She ran back into the child's room and picked him up she was about to strap him into his pushchair when one of the government officials stopped her
“You won't be needing that.”
Pale faced and shaking, still carrying her baby she followed the men out of the apartment block. She knew she was under arrest but for the life of her she couldn't think why.

In his dingy cell Harold Newstead lay on the thin scrap of material that was supposed to be a bed, he had held up against all the interrogators threw at him and it showed. The door to his cell opened, he didn't react moving in any way was too painful .
“We have a visitor here to see you”
He glanced up trying to move as little as possible, it was one of the men who had 'Questioned' him before.
“Get up and come see your visitors” He didn't move. The interrogator stepped into the cell and hauled him up roughly dragging him out of the cell and back into the interrogation room where he was tied up to the chair again. A few moments passed then two more men entered this time they brought into the room a sobbing woman... His sister Lily, she was sobbing with fear as they pushed her into the room, the interrogator spoke to her
“Say hello to your brother Lily, tell him that if he co-operates, nothing will happen to you”
“Don't listen to them!” she yelled out, and received a hard blow to the side of the head
The men tied Lily up to the chair that was normally used by the interrogator but would serve a different purpose now. One of the men took some gasoline and poured it over the still sobbing woman then left the room.
The man who had been doing the talking took out a lighter
“Do you know what happens if i let this lighter lighter anywhere near your sister?”
Newstead looked up at the man
“you...wouldn't”
“I would. But you can avoid that. If you tell us what we need to know, nothing will happen to her”
“i...I wont talk”
The man struck the lighter and held it slightly closer to the woman, who tried to shrink back from the fire
“No...Alight...I'll Talk”
“Good man. Now tell us where the Main rebel base is”

“T-the base...Its in...in the desert...N-Northeast of City Eris”
The interrogator nodded
“That wasn't too hard was it?” He indicated to one of his associates to take both prisoners back to their cells then made a call.
“Thonton. We got a location we want you to check out”
“Yes?”
“Northeast of C.Eris”
“Excellent”

In the A.M.A.P.P.M.I. building Sheryl was on the verge of panic she had just found out that the message sent by someone else using Drabek's account had not been stopped
“What do you mean, you let the message through!?” she demanded
“I...Well, it was official...I...I...you always say never touch anything official!” Laura Marling, who had been the one to let the letter through started crying
“Tell e who it was sent to. And dammit, stop crying!”
“i-it was sent to news channels and papers”
Sheryl walked away from the sobbing girl and started giving out orders. all News was to be blacked out again, they had stopped the media blackout so that they could spread their propaganda, but now it was essential that it should be blacked out immediately.

***

Rob Lloyd had read the message. He could not believe it, the government had ordered those deaths. Not the rebels, boy would he have some news to report on air now
“Attention this is an official message”
Lloyd looked up at the man he hated most in the news station, Irving Banks, The A.M.A.P.P.M.I. media regulator and the one who kept cutting his transmissions whenever he had something particularly good to report
“From now on until further notice there will be no broadcast what so ever. I have also been told to say that if anyone received a certain message, and if you read it you know to what i am referring. If any of the content of that message is reported, spoken, distributed or publicly performed in any way the person who does will be executed for treason do I make my self clear”

In the government building Alyson Rosales was on her break, but this was no ordinary break. She had her orders. Not from the general, who was in a meeting. But from Aaron Gracia, with who her true allegiance lay, her orders were to cut the power. This had been done once before and doing it again would be hard. Much to her surprise however there was no guard.
“Hey, you. Why are you trying to get in there”
She had spoken too soon....

***

“What do you mean lied!?” Thronton yelled angrily at the soldier
“T-there was no base where he said there would be”
Thronton swore and called up the interrogators
“This is Thornton. Your prisoner lied to us. either you get the truth out of him or I'll see to it your life is made to be hell from now on” He hung up and for the second time today thought that Drabek was right in saying that everyone is an incompetent moron.

***

In the Interrogation Block Newstead was once again tied up to the chair
“You lied to us. Did you think we would not find out?”
He didn't speak
“well, since you cannot seem to tell us the truth” He indicated to another man and his sister Lily was bright forward and tied to the other chair, she had not been washed so she was still covered in gasoline from before, but more was added and the interrogator lit the lighter
“No Don't! I'll tell the truth, Please Don't!”
“No, you had your chance, now you must be punished” He placed the lighter to the woman. The gasoline caught fire and the woman screamed as the flames consumed her belching acrid black smoke.
“NO! LILY!”
“will you talk now?”
“You Bastard! You Fucking evil Bastard!” he started to sob uncontrollably unable to tear his eyes away from the horror of what was happening. It was his fault. All his fault, he could have prevented it. He should have told the truth
“You know she has a son. Such a nice child, I'd hate the same thing to happen to him”
“I...I'll tell the truth...”
“I knew you would”

Lucas Malone watched the secretary suspiciously

"Well?" he watched her struggle to find an excuse when an idea dawned on him "Are you a rebel?"
"NO!" she said it too loud, to fast and the way she went pale betrayed her, he grinned
"Yes you are" he lowered his voice "I am too. I know your trying to cut the power, I'll help"
Rosales stared, was he telling the truth? She could not tell, she knew there were others but she did not know who maybe this man was on her side.
"How... how do I know your telling the truth?"
"You can't know, you can only trust... or not"
She did not know what to think, the man seemed genuine but there was still a chance he was acting. But no. she had pretty much admitted her involvement by asking him whether he was telling the truth. And that, less even would be enough proof to authorize her arrest. If he had not already acted...

The colonel listened without any change in expression. When Thornton was finished telling off the soldier and the interrogators he spoke up again.

"Are the prisoners lying? No worries, after the first ones have watched their relatives burn no one will dare to lie. Works every time. I suggest that you step up the propaganda campaign, too. If no one has informed on Gracia yet, the rebels still have far too much popular support. A hostage situation at a school or kindergarten, that would be something. Especially if the hostage takers "panics" and kills a few of the children, of course after proclaiming his support for Gracia and demanding that General Drabek resigns. If you manage to get the people to hate the rebels, the rebel movement might even cease to exist on its own. Have you managed to infiltrate the rebel movement? If you can get a man close enough to Gracia, you can end it with a single shot."

(OOC: I'm gonna assume this part takes place at night. It takes a while to get to the captial I imagine.)

Major Josef crouched behind the shrubbery, and looked out into the walls of the Interrogation Block. It was amazing how many people could look the other way when a little bit of money was involved. That, and maybe a few slit throats. His troops, a team of about 24 Angenterian Stormtroopers, dressed in their black stealth gear (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Image:Krieg.jpg), and armed with silenced versions of their assault rifles, waited along the edges of the shrubbery with him, facing the east wall of the Interrogation Block. The Major was glad he decided to bring them along. Attached directly to his own regiment, the Angenterian 244th infantry, he knew the capabilities of his troopers better then any other.

He took a few minutes to observe the patrol pattern of the guards around the building. In all, they were precise. Every trial, there was only a 25 second gap between the patrols.

The Angenterians were lucky there weren't any outdoor security cameras here.

The Major had briefed his men well. A quick rescue operation to rescue as many Fictionian prisoners as possible. They would break in here, which this area indicated was a larger interrogation room on the lower east side. They would break in, rescue the prisioners, and cut the power, so there could be no reporting back to Mr. Dicator.

"Here they come." The Major reported. "Get ready." Right after he spoke, a pair of guards came walking along the outside wall, a dog at their heels. They proceeded along their patrol, their boots making small crunch noises on the ground as they walked. They proceeded down the line, and around the corner.

"Alright, go!" He whispered, and his troops sprung into action. A team of 6 men silently, yet quickly, moved out of cover, reaching the walls. A pair of them pulled a block of C4 from their kits, and began setting the charges along the wall. The other four moved to their flanks, training their weapons on the corners of the building, ready to shoot anything that rounded them.

“I told them that... They are going to burn them now, That will get the truth” The next few words were said in a barley audible tone of voice “Only with fire comes truth...” He stood silent for a while staring out at what was the fore but had by now burned out. “Poor children who will die by the hands of the rebels...When the little children go to school tomorrow they might just receive an interesting lesson...”

“Sir, You have to leave the building, It's too dangerous for you to stay here!”
Drabek shined a flashlight at the aide who had spoken
“Dangerous? The goddamned power had been turned off. That's not dangerous”
The aide blinked in the light that was being shined into his eyes
“Sir. Someone turned them off for a reason. What if their trying to kill you”
Drabek looked at the aide for a moment. What he said made sense, that's how he got in power. Assassinating the previous ruler, and there had been attempts on his life before.
“Your right. this place is no longer safe”
“I'll arrange a guard”
“Do that”
The aide left the room. Drabek walked over to his desk drawer and took out extra magazines for his pistol.

Though the Angenterians did not know this, the interrogation room they were going to breach was currently in use. Fidel motioned to the other rebels to remain silent, They had heard the explosion but there was still a chance the man had got away a few minutes passed they thought they heard grenades g off but were not sure. after about half a minute more a group of government guards came into their line of vision.
“Ready...Just a little closer” he said this so only the rebels cold hear. They tensed they were outnumbered but hopefully the element of surprise would help them. One of the guards stopped suddenly
“I think I saw something” The guards tensed. One walked towards the spot where they were hidden and saw them Fidel knew their position had been compromised, He motioned to the rebels to fire. They would not make this but they were determined to take as many guards down as possible. The guard had not time to react and was shot dead however the others sprang into action and open fired as did the rebels. “Did you really think this would work?”

Some of the guards who had entered the room fell in the Angernterian fire but those who didn't continued to fire the rebel and his wife were unable to move because they were tied up and one of the guards shot them both dead before being shot dead himself by one of the Angerterians.

Thornton's phone rang again. If this turned out to be false information the person responsible would never have another days peace
“Hello?” he said irritably
“We got the truth this time. We already had someone check it out. We have a confirmed location on the main base”
“Excellent. Send me the co-ordinates”
“Will do”

"You have the location of the rebel base?"

An interested gleam had appeared in the colonel's eyes. He stroked his pistol butt affectionally and counted silently in his head. The Tomehawk missile had an effective range of 2,500 km. The submarines would be in position the next evening. Unless anything went wrong, Gracia and the rebel leadership would be exterminated about three hours later. But they would have to be prevented from escaping.

"Set up a security net a few miles around the base and observe everyone coming and leaving. If Gracia tries to leave, you can easily pick him off. Otherwise, don't let the rebels know about your presence. Just observe and identify. You might be able to get every rebel leader if you strike at the right time."

The Angenterian shocktroops continued their sustained fire, finishing off the last of the guards that came though the door. Turning to the two prisoners, Major Josef noticed that neither of them had survived the fight.

"Damn it..." He cursed, under his breath. That didn't go as intended, but he had to press on. "Keep moving, stick to the plan."

The mass of Angenterian troops split up into four 5-man squads, leaving the other four to stay with the Major, moving to sweep through the building. A few squads headed for the power station, while others began to try to evacuate those held prisoner. Others went for the security station to try to contain the resistance the guards were bound to put up. They had to act quickly. There was no telling if the guards had alerted the government already.

Major Josef and his troops headed north up the structure, determined to find this Newstead character Gracia had talked about.

In his base Gracia was becoming restless he had not herd from the Angenterians or Whiskeasians, yes those things to time but he couldn't help worry, they had not had a lot of time to plan and he felt it was rushed. That was not all on his mind, if Newstead had been caught he surely would have reviled the location of the base.
“We have to move”
“What?”
“This place is no longer safe”
“Do you know how long a full move will take!?”
“Yes. I know... Leave the buildings Don't bother just take everything important and what you can carry”
“But where will we go?”

***

Thornton listened to what the colonel had to say
“Your right, we have to cut them off before they have a chance to escape”
He walked back into the ranks of his soldiers and started shouting out orders which the soldiers immediately started to carry out.
(OOC: It will take a while for them to reach the Main base as it is on the other side of the country practically so the bits below happen in-between them leaving their current position and arriving)

***

Gracia was pacing the base thinking fast
“We're going to have to split up. Go back to the cities. Go to other bases. Heck even go to those little road-side villages that sometimes spring up”
“Who will go where?”
“Right. Smallish groups would be best so as t not draw too much attention. People should also leave at different times and in different directions. I will go with a small group to City Espias”
“But that is hours away, C.Majovul is closer!”
“Which is why no-one should go there, they should also avoid Capital Aquaria”

***

Thornton was overlooking the preparations to start the move to where the Main base was said to be when his phone rang.
“What?” He was annoyed and it showed in his voice
“Your lucky I need your services” Thronton bit his lip, it was Drabek who he had snapped at
“Sorry sir. I didn't mean disrespect. I'm just trying to organise these people, we found the location of the Main rebel base.”
“About time. Those people have caused too much trouble and if you don't stop them soon...”
Thornton could tell by the mans tone that something had happened but he did not dare ask what
“Yessir. We'll get those rebels”
“You had better” The line went dead. Thornton looked around, some of the soldiers had stopped briefly to watch him
“What are you looking at. Get back to work”

***

The rebels had by now organised themselves into various smaller groups. It had been explained to them that if they stayed there their lives would be in danger and that is why they had to leave. A few tried to protest but they were told that if they did not like the idea they were free to stay but if they were attacked and killed, well they had been warned. The first group headed off.

***

In the Interrogation block alerted by the gunfire various guards were systematically searching the building for intruders, while some others were trying to contact the Government Building but because the Palace had been pretty much destroyed no-one was picking up.

***

Most of the rebel groups had already left the base but Gracia had remained. He had to see that everyone got out safely before he would leave.
“Gracia” He turned and saw Katie
“Yes?”
“You should go, If what you say is true we don't have much time. I'll stay and make sure they all make it out”
Gracia shook his head
“No, I have to do this”
“Look, I understand you want to stay but you really should go, If your going to make it to C.Espias you have to leave now”
He didn't reply, just looked at the woman, then out over the base which still had quite a lot of activity
“Please. I'll stay” she repeated
“All right.”

***

The Fictions army was almost where the base was when they saw some movement. It was a group of rebels.
“Looks like their trying to leave the base”
“Get around that base. Make sure no one escapes in any way”

***

Gracia and his group was well away by the time the army got set up around the base, which still contained quite a few of the groups, he looked back and saw what was happening. Saw the 'Safety Net' tha would prevent anyone else from leaving
“I have to go back. They are going to get killed!”
He made a move o turn back but another of the rebels held him back
“There's nothing we can do. It's too late”
“It can't be!”
“I'm sorry. There's nothing we can do.”
Gracia turned away so he could not see the base and clenched his fist
“Lets...Lets just get to C.Espias...” He felt he should not have listened to Katie he should have stayed and fought to the death, but now she and many others would be dying and there was nothing he could do...

Drabek looked at the phone. When those rebels are caught... Maybe he should tell them to leave Gracia alive, that way he can be made an example of. Send a message that no-one challenges his government and gets away with it. On the subject of getting away with challenging the government, he wondered how those back at what remained of the Government Building were dealing with the intruders.

“How? How could they have possibly known!?” Thronton said, frustrated into his phone
“I don’t know, we arrived and some were leaving the base, like a getaway. We have the place surrounded and the majority did not make it out”
“And Gracia?”
“No sign of him sir. Could be he got away. Could be he’s still there”
“Well. Make sure no more escape. And dammit if Gracia got away because of you…” He let the threat hang in the air, how could the rebels have known they were coming? Unless…No they couldn’t…Unless someone in his army had told them. The thought was a terrible one and if it turned out to be true, whoever had informed the rebels would wish they had never been born.

Biggs had found the rebels dead, killed by Drabeks escape group probaly, they diddn't get into the building quick enough. They decided to lay up nearby hopefully Drabek would appear before too long, he was on foot so he couldn't of got far. They found an empty shop nearby, snuck in through the back door and set up a watch from the top storey. The man set right back in the shadows so nobody would see him. They kipped down, and sent a message via text to a number Gracia had given them.
"hey mum! havin lots of fun in the city, just missed dad at the restaurant, think he left a few minutes before I arrived, oh well will hope 2 catch him l8er.

By now Gracia and his group had arrived in City Eris, they had managed to get into a run-down apartment block owned by a sympathiser known to Gracia. They hoped that they had not been caught on tape too much.
Gracia had not spoken since they found out about the Soldiers blocking the escape, he still blamed himself and thought he should have stayed behind. A bleeping sound from his phone (Well, the one he used for official things and only select people knew his number) snapped him out of his reverie, it was a message from the Whiskeasians he knew this as they were using the code they had agreed on.
"hey mum! havin lots of fun in the city, just missed dad at the restaurant, think he left a few minutes before I arrived, oh well will hope 2 catch him l8er.

He read the message, then read it again willing it to have a new meaning. The man had escaped. Damn that Drabek, why couldn't he just do the country a favour and let himself be killed! Never the less, they seemed to have come out unharmed, he wondered about the rebels who had volunteered to join them. He replied to the message.

...Six armed men standing alert in-front of the building, two, looking slightly nervous were in the uniform of general police guards that were stationed at every major building, the other four were dressed in a uniform that they recognised as belonging some of Drabek's official guard.

“Whatever it is can sort itself out” The government guard said this, they were notorious for being cold and uncaring

(OOC: So how may men does biggs have exactly? sorry I forgot..)

The whole attack had taken the guards entirely by surprise, and while they did try to fight back the Whiskeasians had the advantage of surprise and the fight was over soon.

***

Everyone in the building was tense, as if they weren't under enough pressure to do their jobs well now the general himself was here they felt they had to perform above and beyond what was generally expected of them. Franklin McNeil was watching the building in realtime, or at least the bottom half of the building, trying to watch all fourteen stories would be nearly impossible for just one person. He was just flicking from the various rooms when something caught his eye the guards in-front of the building had become restless and a moment later one left his post and was shot soon after that a fight broke out. It was at this point that he called the security office.

***

“Sir. They have come back and are preparing another attack!”
“The rebels do WHAT?” Drabek winced he had raised his voice and that had caused a painful throb in his head. Damn these stress headaches.
“That's the weird thing sir, They're not rebels” Drabek looked blankly at Sheryl
“Not rebels... How can they be 'Not rebels' are you out of your mind?”
“Well, they're obviously on the side of the rebels but they're foreign one glance will tell you that”
“Shit. Shit. How the hell did they get in country!? And they come to kill me you say? Make sure they never make it up to this floor”
Sheryl nodded and left the room. Drabek loaded a new mag. into his pistol, if they came he would take as many as he could down with him. He would not see this country go to ruin, not if he could help it. Did the rebels and their do-gooder foreign supporters not see that the only alternative to his reign was anarchy?

The people who had been formerly in the lobby had cleared well away from the A.M.A.P.P.M.I. building, if, like the foreigners said, there would be some sort of explosion they would want to be well away.
What is it that people do when something like this happens? They talk, even people employed by the government like to talk and talk they did. They told friends and family about what had happened, they then told others what they had been told, rumours spread like wildfire in the densely populated city, like some great game of Chinese whispers and as so often happens, the rumours got wilder and wilder until truth was mixed with fiction and the reality was indistinguishable from the lies.
The General had been killed by foreign terrorists.
The A.M.A.P.P.M.I. building has been blown up.
The country had been invaded.
The country has been conquered.
The General has been taken prisoner.
The rebels have teamed up with foreigners and taken the country. And so on, and, even though Drabek had not yet been killed, and this may not even happen yet, no-one could know. The City was already working itself up into a state of panic and soon the rumours would leave it and who knows what they may become by the time they reach the other cities. Rumours are also cyclical and it was soon that they had reached the ears of A.M.A.P.P.M.I.

Drabek paced the office, he did not know what was going on in the rest of the building and that was frustrating, Sheryl entered nervously

“Damn rumours, remind me why you reopened national phone lines?”
“Because people found out anyway…besides news of the ‘rebels’ attack had to spread even to those who do not watch the news”
“Well dammit. Those rumours are going to be true if something isn’t….” he stopped mid sentence an idea had come to him
“Sheryl…Get Thornton on the line”

Biggs and the front three men were blinded by the wight light, luckily they were behind the wall and most of the incoming fire hit the wall, but a single round whizzed off and hit Biggs square in the center of his body armor, throwing him backwards. Dazed and winded he sat up against the wall as the other men shook the spots from their eyes the tail man lobbed a couple of frag grenades round the corner towards the troops. This was followed by a HE grenade, that would blow away a small room and should clear the pocket of resistance. Biggs slowly reagaing himself suddenly thought what if people came up after them! They would get massacered and it was only a matter of time before reinforcements turned up. He turned to one of his men and wheezed "Claymores." And pointed down stairs the soldier quickly started laying down claymores, and C4 charges. Worse case scenario they would blow the whole building. He got out his phone and typed in a new message.

"Oh, shit."

The colonel's arrogant, self-confident expression had vanished. Why hadn't he thought of it? Of course the rebels would try a direct attack against Drabek if they had the chance. Now they had to move quickly. If Drabek was killed, the situation could escalate into a full-blown civil war in a matter of days. He roared out an order, and the soldiers began to run towards the transports. At least they were used to break up quickly, and they had no heavy equipment to slow them down. A blessing in disguise. He turned back to Thornton.

"Do your police or military have any helicopters near CA. Aquaria? If Drabek is on the top floor, you might be able to evacuate him that way."

“The Main police station was blown up at the very beginning of this disturbance, but no helicopters were destroyed I will tell them to see what they can do.” And by that he meant, do it or die
He made the call, though he spoke Fictin his tone and a basic understanding of the language clearly said that if they could not get Drabek and Sheryl out of the building then their lives, what was left of them, would be like hell on earth.

***

The explosion caused by the grenade did indeed clear the resistance, however, there were still more on the higher levels of the building that would attack when they came up.

So they needed a bit of help, he knew that, despite his warnings against this when they had left the base a group of rebels headed by Jude Levy had headed towards the capital and another group headed by Kelsey Mullins had headed towards City Majovul. If anyone could respond fast they could. He sent them a message, using similar codes telling them where to go, then he sent a message to Biggs.
No worries 'bout that, i'll send ur brothers right away, hope they get there b4 the parties over!

***

Levy and his group had arrived in the city quite safely and had already met up with the rebels that were already based within the city itself, he received the message and set off to meet Millins' group who would seeom be arriving

***

“Sir, Thornton has arranged for a helicopter to come and pick us up”
“Good. When will it come?” Drabek looked out of the window
“Soon sir”

***

Mullins and her group, now joined by the rebels based within City Majovul had now arrived in the capital and met up with Levy. To get to the A.M.A.P.P.I. Building they split up and took various routes through alleyways, it would be safer to travel in smaller groups.

****

They had of course not made it to the capital in three minutes as they had to get organised and there was distance to take into account, but they came pretty close. the streets were empty, the sight of so many armed soldiers was enough to ensure that the citizens would stay well away. They were almost at the A.M.A.P.P.I. building when out of pretty much nowhere a grenade went off, killing a few. immediately the soldiers prepared for the fight that would soon break out. Up above the sound of helicopter blades could be heard.

***

“Sir, you have to come now!” Sheryl said urgently, the helicopter had arrived and was waiting on the helipad that was on the buildings roof, Drabek got up and, grabbing his pistol which he had put on his desk, followed her at a run out of the room and onto the roof. When in the helicopter he finally spoke.
“This thing have guns?”
“Yessir”
“Good. Knock down the goddamned building!”
“Sir! You can't do that!” Sheryl gasped
“Who says Can't? Do as I say!”
The helicopter rose higher into the air
“Sir, with all due respect, demolishing the building will kill our soldiers and allies below”
“Damn. Well, just get out of here then”

OOC: I presume that those killed are Fictional soldiers.

IC:

The SSC soldiers quickly surrounded the government complex. The houses around the building were taken over by grim from soldiers iwith assault fifles in their hands, who shoved the inhabitants out of their apartments and told them to run for it if they wished to survive. The windows were broken to prevent glass splinters in the event of an explosion. Plywood boards or similar objects were placed over the destroyed windows, with small openings left for the machine guns to shoot through. Under the watchful eyes of their comrades, a small assault team dashed from building to building, trying to get close to the A.M.A.P.P.I. building without the rebels noticing.

The ground floor of an apartment complex had been made into the makeshift headquarters of the SSC battalion. The colonel was standing by the window and looking out, listening to the different teams reporting in to the communication oficer. A map of the city had been mounted on a wall, and a couple of soldiers were placing out blue needles, which represented Zaheranian and government forces, according to the communication officer's direction. Red needles indicated suspected rebel forces. From his position at the window, the colonel could see one of the privates place out two more blue needles, to the north of the besieged government building. Good. Almost everyone was in position. If the rebels tried anything funny, they would regret it.

(OOC: yup, they were my casualties)

The street went silent, no more attacks. Nothing, still cautious the Fictions soldiers took up their positions around the building while another group, checking corners as they went, entered the building.

Out in the street all was silent then a muffled explosion inside the building, some of the soldiers had detonated the claymores and the resulting explosion had killed them. Those on the street awaited orders.

The rebels who had thrown the grenade had doubled back and met up with another group, they had seen the armies.
"We're heavily outnumbered, there's no way we can get passed all those!"
"We're going to have to try another way"

The Whiskeasians were stuck, royally screwed. They had heard the thunder of rotor blades as Drabek escaped. Now they were trapped in a building with no way out. Unless the rebels had some serious firepower Biggs was going to have to call on his final option. A cruise missile, this was a last resort but he had the ability to. He pulled out his phone and dialed in Gracias number he picked up and Biggs said "Unless you have some serious firepower I'm gonna have to call in a cruise missile on the party outside. How are your guys?"

"From your tone I something bad has happened..." No way, they couldn't "Is the army there? I'm sorry, there is no way my people can take on the whole army... But... Don't you think that the missile will tell the world your country is in on this? That's risky, we don't know how much foreign support the government has..."

"There is a sub, submerged off the coast. It will fire a ballistic missile then flee for international waters. Nobody should know who it is that fired it. We will deny all of it. Unless you have a better idea, I'm calling it in."

"I'm afraid not..." Had it come to this then, He just hoped that all civilians had left the place, they did not have to die because of this...

"Ok then, Good bye."
He hung up and dialled the only other number on his phone. It was picked up silently he spoke co-ordinates into the phone they were repeated in heavily accented french. One minute to impact. Him and his men crouched in the concrete stairwell, hoping it would give some protection. After the missile had gone off, they were going to run through the confusion.

A hiss of water and the missile emerged from beneath the sub already turning away for international waters. The giant instrument of death was on it's way silently traveling under SAM sites and radar.

Gracia looked at the phone, he hoped the knew what they were doing and this would not cause unnecessary loss of life, for a while he had hoped that it would have ended soon, but now he was not sure, and in this City so far from the capital he felt powerless to do anything...

OOC: Three questions, Whiskeasy.
1. What kind of missile is that?
2. What kind of sub fired it?
3. Where on the Fictional coast is it?(North, South etc.)

I need to know this to work out my casualties and a suitable response. Links please. And while we're on it, here's some suitable theme music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_FoL8Wm_uw).

OOC: damn. There's nothing in COD about blowing up buildings with missiles and the damage done xD it may take me a while to research what would happen, unless someone else knows that would be helpful...

Strategic Command Early Warning Center, India
Three minutes after missile launch

A fan buzzed quietly in the little room in the SCEWC complex, deep under Mount Nanda Devi in northern India. The Center, as it was called by those employed there, was a part of the first line of defence against ballistic missiles fired against Zaheran. Its task was to discover ICBM and SLBM launches, so that other parts of the Strategic Command could shoot down the incoming missiles or, as a last resort, launch a retaliation strike of their own. It was fed information by 60 reconnaisance satellites in orbit around the planet, and by a number of ground-based phased array radars that were part of the complex. It employed over 30,000 people, and could in case of an emergency shelter another 20,000, most of which would be key persons in the regional government and important military officials. With supplies that would last for five months, its employees were among the few in the world that could say with confidence that they would survive a nuclear war.

In the cubicle called Room 3142, a computer was recieving information from a satellite, ZR15-B, that was currently in position over Fictions. It in turn processed the information to the main computer, a fully automatic process. Still, an employee was sitting close by, reading a magasine. If something went wrong, it had to be dealt with at once. The Centre could not afford to have a computer out for even a minute, every delay could mean a disaster. Still, the technician was almost asleep, as nothing worthy of his attention had happened for months. Military-grade computers seldom had problems, and incidents involving nuclear missiles were even more rare.

It therefore came as a surprise to him when a siren began to shriek, immediately followed by the blinking red light of an emergency lamp in the roof. With a curse he threw the magasine aside and rushed to the computer. Within a second, his face turned pale. He pressed a few keys on the keyboard. Fictions, probably a sub, and impact in...three minutes. Impact point...Capital Aquaria. Shit, that could mean that thousands, no, millions, of civilians could die. For what? There had not been any incidents in Fictions that he had heard about.

The rest of the base had also been notified of the missile launch. Within a minute, warning had been sent out to the rest of Strategic Command, the regional government, the Ministry of Defence and Admiral Wahnschaffes carrier group. Wahnschaffe, knowing that the SSC battalion had been sent to C. Aquaria, immediately notified the colonel, praying that the missile would not carry a nuclear warhead.

C. Aquaria
One minute before missile impact

The colonel was watching the A.M.A.P.P.M.I. building through his binoculars with a content smile. Everything was going as planned. Drabek had been evacuated to safety, the rebels were surrounded inside the building. Soon, his men would begin their assault. He had no doubt that they would succeed. The communication officer woke him from his thoughts.

"Sir? Admiral Wahnschaffe is on the line. It's urgent."

The colonel frowned. Wahnschaffe? What could the admiral want now? He walked over to the comm officer and took the headphones. The others watched his expression change from indifference to surprise to horror. With a curse he ripped the headphones from his head and threw himself on the floor.

"Incoming!"
