IISA:

OOC She does, if it doesn't mean she can't go back. For sure she isn't interested in becoming suicidal because of being away too long. (and no, the fact the Fir!nans could add an instinct to hybrids that binds them to Fir!n doesn't contradict what I said about AIs and souls and such. Having certain needs because one is a member of a certain species is not a restriction of free will)

"I'm no scientist, so I have no arguement for that point. I will, however, say that I do believe in souls but do not believe the soul and emotions are tied together. The creatures I've seen in my life have taught me this much, but that's just me."

"Nothing they don't already say about me. But maybe you don't want to give them reason to say similar things about you..."
Firna sat on the side of the bed, and looked away from the others. "They call me a slut."

Greywatch:

"I don't understand" said Aniska. "Have you met creatures with souls but no emotions, or without souls but with emotions? How could you tell they did or did not have souls?"
Greywatch

"The latter, rare but it happens. And the former, some demons are the perfect example." Rose shook her head, "The former are many of the Twilight demons, ancient race and hated enemy of the Leanorians. Isn't it wonderful that Twilight demons happen to be the grandfathers of the Leanorian?" Her voice was dripping with sarcasm, "Yes, I evolved from a creature that itself evolved from demons. Amazing, is it not? Either way, many of them know nothing but rage and anger but I've found demons that have no emotions at all. As for souls, we Leanorian have items which allow us to see such things. As for the latter, those would be Greywatch's Drones. An emotionless and souless creature made through means only the fallen gods would know. However, I've seen a select few Drones learn emotion... and when I say learn, I mean they actually develop feelings. More than imitation, but going from using people as tools on the battlefield to taking a shot for you because they like you." Rose shrugged, "I suppose in the end there's no test to see if Drones are actually feeling anything or if it's not just a ruse but I'd like to imagine the former actually happens. And I suppose there's no real test for seeing if demons suppress their emotions, but I honestly can't imagine why they would when most of them say their rage makes them strong."

Greywatch (+Kewen):

"I think we might be using the word 'soul' for different things. Even within TFP it has a few different meanings, for example one could say only sentient beings have souls, and another could say everything, even rocks, has soul, and they could still be in agreement with each other."
Aniska lifted Sanka, who did not wake up. "I think we're boring someone." Aniska smiled. "We need to leave the ship for a moment, so Harmony can double the pressure to check if it's airtight."

Firna first stopped by Natalia's home, and gave her the disk with information about replicators. "Here are some very interesting video files of you and the three empresses" she joked. The shocked look on Natalia's face told Firna she had guessed right about what had happened. "Ha! I knew it. They're designs for a replicator, actually." She winked and ran off.

Greywatch

"I don't disagree with that, my only point is that similar does not mean same. I believe the difference is that the soul is simply one's essence while the spirit is essence with sentience. The two may be tied but I believe one should be careful in interchanging them. But that isn't too important at this point, what I want to know more about is this ship."

"As with all technologies, it does have its downsides, though. One issue would be that with inertial compensators enabled at full, a pilot has no idea how the craft is performing. Most pilots actually have it turned down a bit. There has also been an interesting interaction between it and the artificial gravity systems on our craft, although I believe that has been resolved."

Greywatch:

"If you look at it that way, it's not odd at all to say everything has soul" replied Aniska. "Everything has an essence. What shall I tell you about the ship? The hull belonged to a luxury ship, meant for transporting important beings. The engine is from a freighter, which is much heavier in normal use than this ship is. The combination should be slightly faster than the current fastest TFP ships are, but would also consume a lot more power when traveling at top speed. New ships have only a very basic AI, not a sentient one like Harmony. Those are not uncommon, though. We have a lot of time on our hands while traveling... Harmony was created and trained by me. Well actually Elegy was, Harmony is a copy. The cloaking material is the same you have seen my Fir!nan mother use. That's about all there is to say about the ship right now, we haven't decided yet what it will look like on the inside.

Firna remembered something vampirism and werewolf-ism (ooc wth do you call that in English?) being spread through bites, but she thought it would be better not to ask as it would imply comparing her hosts to a disease.

Greywatch:

"So do you like the outside? It doesn't have any remarkable features like we've seen on many foreign ships because it's easier to apply the armor/cloaking to a smooth surface. On the inside, I guess we'll add a few extra screens. People are looking for Sanka, so it's a good idea to have a good view on the sensor data so we will see them before they see us. It needs more storage space for food than it has now, too. Getting the functional aspect of the interior right is not too difficult, but making it look nice will require some thought."
Greywatch
07-10-2008, 14:43

"No, not at all. Humans are from one world, the Kiixori exist in the same system as the humans but a different planet. The Leanorians exist in a completely diiferent system from the other races. The Xarniosi also have their own system. Greywatch itself incorporates about 3-5 systems at this point, or so I imagine. And we also have abuot 20 or so planets under our control due to our expansionist nature. The humans really started it all, though, siply through their appetite for exploration. The Kiixori go through many civil wars and never focused too heavily on space, the Xarniosi are very isolationist and never wanted to see what was out there, and my race is not very technologically developed. The humans explored, found all the different races and over time created the alliance known as the Empire of Greywatch. Though the 'empire' part is really just to sound good, we're really more of a large alliance than anything else, at least in my eyes."

"The Xarniosi are not a fully biological race. Some time ago, time that is not recorded, the Xarniosi are believed to have been human but they experimented with cybernetic upgrades for their bodies. These same upgrades changed them in unimagineable ways. Today, they exist as a hybrid... they can no longer reproduce in a normal matter. When they start their lives, they are very similar to humans, but as they go on living, nanites in their bodies pull minerals from the veyr ground they walk on. These nanites work in their bodies none stop, 'upgrading' the host by using said absorded minierals to construct mechanical limbs and organs. The result is that the Xarniosi actually change from organics to machines during the very course of their lives; eventually, the cybernetics and mechanical properties of their own bodies end up killing them. The typical Xarnisoi looks human but with heavily modified body parts. If I had a hologram of one, I'd show you."

"Hmm, good idea. Then I get more awake time while there are things to see."

OOC: I just let you all know I started that thread, not exactly asking you to do anything in it. It was just a random idea that made me laugh, so I posted it. TBH I have no idea how it will continue, unless someone who hates telepaths randomly shows up. So it's probably going to be a very short thread.
I suppose there will be something about those whales that a telepath-kid would find interesting... I'll think of something.

Rose thought for a moment, "Gateways to hell begin erecting themselves in the most hard-to-reach areas or the most obscure areas, demons pour out en masse. They have big weapons and bad attitudes. That pretty much sums it all up."

"Not actually sure, I'd assume a different plane of some sort. I do believe its known as the Twilight Realm. There are only a few people who have been to that place and then returned.... but they are often changed drastically during their stay in that place."

Rose shrugged, "Well, that's the story of Greywatch. We live in a place where hell actually tries to invade us every now and then. But we deal with it, I suppose one gets used to such things after a while. Ironic that we Leanorian evolved from demons only to become the exact Cryptic opposite of them, and their greatest enemy."

"Evolution has made weirder things happen. And it's good you're there to keep hell away from everyone else."

"That would be appreciated. We do have two sets of powered all-environmental suits available onboard our ship - they're completely sealed, and even come with optional oxygen tanks in case of issues. By the way, would you mind if Commodore Traken and his two escorts come along as well? I believe their armor is also fully sealed."
Greywatch

Rose shrugged, "I suppose so... I do hope that our world is the only one they can open up gateways to. Speaking of which, what things have you seen evolution create?"

AF:

"I got a better idea. We could use one of the hoverships, then you won't need any type of armor, and you won't have to walk either."

---

Greywatch:

"I don't know where to start. The universe is full of strange creatures. There are lots of carnivores that eat herbivores that are closely related to them, so I don't think it's very odd the enemies of demons would evolve from demons. What I said about humans and their earths earlier... now that is really odd."
Greywatch
12-10-2008, 17:00
"Well at least demons and Leanorians don't eat each other..." Rose gave a slight smile, "But the whole earth thing is something I can agree with you about. I guess we'll never know all that's out there unless we look."

Aniska nodded. "If you don't mind, I still have a lot of things to do today..." She gave Rose a last hug. "We'll meet again. ... hey, Jonathan, over here for a moment please!"
Greywatch

AF:

"You'd be surprised."
Sen had a quick IM conversation with someone through her WMDA. "This way, please."

A bit later...

Sen asked the pilot of the hovership to stop next to something that looked like a large tree. The "branches" bent towards the ship, and eyes opened at their ends. Sen climbed into a branch/tentacle that got close enough to her. "This is a tir. Most of the creature is underground, just the head is visible. This one is bigger than most of them. As long as they're not 'activated', they're the least dangerous creatures we have. Their name is part of many bad words in fir!nan!eqe, because they're not exactly pretty... Not really fair though."
She scratched the bark-like skin of the tir, which it seemed to like.

Rose looked to Jonathan, shaking his hand, "It was nice meeting you too." She then looked to Sanka, "I will, you do the same." Rose gave a last smile before leaving the group to their work.
