Marriage is something I have thought about but never have pursued. When I see the right man, I will know he is the man I should marry. Perhaps, one day, I will see the right man and we will be in love. Until then, I am a single and childless monarch."

Anastasia smiled as she looked at Heinrich. "I know that you love me, Heinrich, and to be honest with you, I was surprised to hear that guests like you loved me, I never really thought about that before the gala." She looked into his eyes for a moment. "When I find the right man, as I said earlier, I know that I have found the man who should be my husband."

"That's what I think too...wait for the right person...(he mumbled at this point) wish people would just leave me alone about it. Anyway," he said, "I know you know that I love you: I haven't exactly done a terribly good job of hiding it," he pointed out, cracking a grin and sort of laughing. "I can't say subtlety has ever been one of my strengths. I've got to work on that."

A woman in an expensive dress had been sitting alone at her table when she saw the captain looking at her. She smiled at him as she watched him.

Emperor Miamorga walked into the gala not being quite sure of himself when he spotted the fair maiden he had been looking for. It was the host herself. He knew then and there he needed to meet her. Boldly he walked up but as she was already in conversation he waited loyally until she could speak to him. He felt that for the first time this was someone he could comfortably spend time with. So he waited from a reply from his new beautiful maiden.

Vladimir, the Empress' personal assistant, saw Miamorga walk into the room. He decided to greet him as he walked to Emperor Miamorga. "Welcome to the gala. I am Vladimir, the personal assistant of the Empress. You are?...."

"It is nice to meet you, Captain Wulf. Yes, I am alone tonight at this gala but it is nice to be talking to you. Please, take a seat."

The woman smiled at Sabre as she listened to him. "Have you liked the gala, Captain? I thought it would be nice for me to attend."

"Well I see that I have cause uneeded tensions so I will be the mature one and take my leave before this disscussion spirals out of control." Marcos said as his two bodyguards over heard him and moved towards him. "Tell the Queen that I have enjoyed the Gala and thank her for giving attention to my plea for aid and for thinking about everything else." with that Marcos left surrounded by his two bodyguards who one of them then said something in the Deuremese language that made the three Deuremense laugh as they walked out.

"I've liked target shooting since I was 10. The first time I shot was at Boy Scout camp, and I turned out to be better than all the other kids. It was still the skill of a ten-year-old, but I was pretty good for my age."

My siblings currently go to private school, I am the only one of them who does not have to wake up in the morning, if I choose to, during the week."

Anastasia laughed a little for a couple of seconds before she smiled at Heinrich. "Sometimes, I reminisce about my days as a schoolgirl and all the teachers and classmates that I had. It was nice during those days, I have plenty of good memories and I am thankful for that."

Carlos walks out onto the balcony with a glass and a bottle and fills the glass

Carlos tips half of the glass into the garden and drink the other half in one go and refuled the glass up again

Anastasia listened to Heinrich's question about love and it immediately reminded her of the one boy she had fallen in love with when she was younger.

"When I was younger, Heinrich, I fell in love with the son of one of my father's friends. He was a friend of mine but every time I saw him, I felt a strange connection to him, it made me feel like I should be with him. We often saw each other until he had to move away, that deprived me of his presence for many years until I saw him again. We renewed our friendship and I have met his wife and children. He is still a good friend. Have you fallen in love with anyone before, Heinrich?"

Heinrich looked a tad embarassed. "Fourth grade. Girl in my class. We were good friends, but for some reason, I liked talking to her and being around her more than anyone else. Unfortuneately, she moved away at the end of the year, and I havn't seen her since. Actually, I remember getting laughed at a few times because, as you've seen, subtlety and concealing feelings aren't exactly my strong points. Led to a few embarassing moments, one of which wasn't too much unlike what happened earlier..." he paused uneasily, as they both remembered what happened earlier. "...though the embarassment was more all around, because she didn't have as much of a problem with it as you did, but there was still the fact that I kissed her on the cheek in front of everyone after she had done that to me. I also remember how sad I was when I found out she had moved away. It was easily a year and a half before I finally stopped feeling completely sad about that. I've considered looking for her before, just to say hi and to try and rekindle friendship, but I've never gotten around to it."
He paused for a minute or two. Then he said "Would you believe that I'm pretty sure you're the only person I've ever told about that? I just realized I never told Patri(Dad) or Padrite(grandfather) or Marcus."

"You want to kiss me?" Anastasia said before she looked at him silently, waiting to see what Heinrich would do next. She pictured him kissing her in her mind while she waited and continued to think about her feelings for Heinrich, knowing he was not the only man who loved her.

Nicholas was glad that Marcos was leaving. He was both arrogant and self serving. To Nicholas he seemed like the kid that was just trying to impress girls. He could already done that to Catherine. Nicholas didn't want to see Catherine's heart be broken by someone like that. That would be both sad and disgusting. Turning toward Catherine he had to ask.

"Catherine did you like that young lad?" asked Nicholas carefully hoping not to break into a touchy area.

"Nicholas, you play a musical instrument, right? Perhaps, one day, you can play it for me. I would enjoy hearing you play."

"Thank you," was all that he said, smiling happily.
And with that, Heinrich took his cue, and he held Anastasia in his arms. He leaned foward, and for the second time, he kissed her. It felt like it lasted for hours, and Heinrich wished it had. He felt nothing but sweet bliss, and he wished the moment would never end. After a moment that seemed like eternity, they broke apart, Heinrich still holding her in his arms. "I'm so glad I came and met you. I don't know how I could possibly stand not knowing you to any extent," he then said.

Anastasia looked at Heinrich as they kissed and felt that he truly loved her, she knew he truly loved her but she did not know if she loved him, she had to decipher her feelings. Anastasia looked at Heinrich after he finished kissing her for a couple of seconds before she began to speak to him.

"I am glad that you attended the gala, Heinrich. You are not only a good guest but a handsome man." She gave him a smile before she began walking into the ballroom, beckoning Heinrich to follow her. Anastasia thought about the kiss as she walked, she knew he loved her but she did not know if she loved him....she had no clue as to who she loved, if anyone at all. Silently, she thought about it, not telling anything to Heinrich.

"Thank you." Nicholas nodded toward the musician, then took the oboe back to Catherine. "Well be prepared. I haven't touched an oboe in months. So I might be a little rusty."

At the beginning his notes were completely off, though it steady got better and turned into something beautiful. Yes there were an occasional bad note, but Nicholas showed off his skills. Nicholas played with all of his heart and in return gave off a passionate sound. It could literally melt a woman's heart. Once done Nicholas quickly gave back the oboe and returned to the table. He was a tad embarrassed of screwing up at the beginning, but it was the best he had to offer.

Catherine had silently listened to Nicholas playing the oboe and she watched him walk back to the table after returning the oboe. When he took his seat, Catherine smiled at him and began to praise her royal acquaintance, thinking that he deserved the compliments.

"That was amazing, Nicholas! Absolutely one of the best solo performances I have seen. Thank you for playing the oboe for me, I am glad that I was able to hear you play."

"Aww...it wasn't anything that good." Nicholas stated as he turned red.

OUT OF CHARACTER:

I have decided to cut to the part in the story line where my delagates arrive in Neo-Ixania. I will RP their arrival.

IN CHARACTER:

The plane arrived on schedule at the landing pad. As the delagates filed out of the airplane, they quickly unloaded their necessary possessions and boarded helicopters to begin their travel to the palace. The Foreign Minister and his entourage were led into the splendid palace by their personal escort and Neo-Ixanian personnel to the entrance hall, where they briefly stopped to catch their breath.

Eventually, after some time to prepare, they settled in for the night as the day had grown late. During the night there was a soft and peaceful period of rest that all could enjoy, even as the representatives of the other nations were attending the Gala.

In the morning, the delegates awoke and had a lavish breakfast. After finishing their meal at around nine-thirty in the morning, they all headed for the ballroom to meet with the Empress and here other guests.

Anastasia looked at Heinrich as they kissed and felt that he truly loved her, she knew he truly loved her but she did not know if she loved him, she had to decipher her feelings. Anastasia looked at Heinrich after he finished kissing her for a couple of seconds before she began to speak to him.

Silently, she thought about it, not telling anything to Heinrich.

He might still have a chance! This happy thought followed him into the ballroom, as he was following Anastasia. As they walked along back in, he whispered to her a simple and sincere "Thank you." He turned to her after they were inside, and, noting that Marcos was no longer present. I wonder, what happened to him? he thought. He still held Anastasia's hand, still realizing how lucky he was: he was easily one of the only, if not the only man who had had the chance to kiss Anastasia Schverzinski II. And he was extremely happy that he had taken that opportunity. He heard the music playing at the moment they entered the ballroom: again, perfect for dancing. But, on the other hand, he knew the Empress had things to do this evening other than dance and talk with him: there were other guests. All the same...

I have decided to cut to the part in the story line where my delagates arrive in Neo-Ixania. I will RP their arrival.

The plane arrived on schedule at the landing pad. As the delagates filed out of the airplane, they quickly unloaded their necessary possessions and boarded helicopters to begin their travel to the palace. The Foreign Minister and his entourage were led into the splendid palace by their personal escort and Neo-Ixanian personnel to the entrance hall, where they briefly stopped to catch their breath.

Eventually, after some time to prepare, they settled in for the night as the day had grown late. During the night there was a soft and peaceful period of rest that all could enjoy, even as the representatives of the other nations were attending the Gala.

In the morning, the delegates awoke and had a lavish breakfast. After finishing their meal at around nine-thirty in the morning, they all headed for the ballroom to meet with the Empress and here other guests.

He knew at this point that if there was any woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, it was Anastasia. He had also been giddy with happiness since kissing her. He couldn't remember being happier in his life. He smiled happily as he ate, still taking occasional looks at Anastasia as she conversed with others.

This is Mr. Herbert Sullivan, the Ambassador that has been appointed to establish relations with Neo-Ixania." he began as he motioned for Mr. Sullivan to approach the Empress.

Mr. Sullivan bowed low and courteously spoke of Monavia and foreign relations. "My superiors in Monavia wish to establish formal relations with the Empire of Neo-Ixania as of late, and offer their thanks for your invatation to have us attend the Gala. I would relish the opportunity to dance and sing here, and make merry with all of the foreign guests."

With that introduction, he bowed again and seated himself next to Mr. Carter. Robert Farrington's secretary, who was as always in a good mood, listened intently. She did not say anything, but she got up from her seat and walked over to the table where there was some food. She got some tea to dring and merrily sipped it for a quarter of an hour.

Mr. Sullivan then spoke again. "As an Ambassador and representative of the Monavian Empire, I come to ask if you know any other nations that wish to establish diplomatic contact with foreigners."

The embassy idea will be put forth to a committee, which will be charged with the task of evaluating the proposal and carrying it out." Mr. Sullivan answered. "I will speak with Mr. Rucinsky and any other people that will need to be spoken with but for now, I wish to ask about how well you do."

"Whether or not we can formalize relations soon will not be an issue, because we can always meet to discuss international relations." Mr. Carter said. "Of course, one of the first things that the Monavian government would do is offer space for a embassy to be built should our two nations choose to establish relations."

Mr. Carter then spoke about the diplomatic conference with Cotenshire that he attended and its results. "We have currently been in the business of brokering a treaty with the Salisbrugic Dominion of Cotenshire" he said, "and I believe that it will be a beacon of good will towards other countries."

The Ambassador's secretary then pressed a button on a tape recorder to test it out. Upon discovering that it worked properly, she casually put it away and listened intently to the conversation.

"Now that we have spoken about our business, we can deal freely with other concerns that are less pressing." Mr. Carter said. "For starters, would you explain to me who these other people are that are present at the Gala."

Mr. Sullivan then went over to Mr. Rucinsky to discuss embassies.

Mr. Carter then spoke about the diplomatic conference with Cotenshire that he attended and its results. "We have currently been in the business of brokering a treaty with the Salisbrugic Dominion of Cotenshire" he said, "and I believe that it will be a beacon of good will towards other countries."

The Ambassador's secretary then pressed a button on a tape recorder to test it out. Upon discovering that it worked properly, she casually put it away and listened intently to the conversation.

Anastasia looked at the tables for a couple of seconds before she saw Heinrich. Pointing at him, she looked at Mr. Carter and smiled. "He is the Emperor of Achae-Ottonia."

Heinrich sat down somewhere else, but still within veiw of Anastasia. Even as he got something to eat, he continually shot glances of admiration over at Anastasia. He couldn't stop thinking about her, even when the news came through that a cease-fire had been called in the civil war back home and that the nobles responsible for revolting against him had been captured. He knew at this point that if there was any woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, it was Anastasia. He had also been giddy with happiness since kissing her. He found in his pocket the deed to the colony and made his way to the empress to give it to her.

Technology in Monavia is relatively advanced for this world. [OUT OF CHARACTER: It is at about 2020 A.D. tech level.] Still, we only use technologies if they are "ethically correct". Some kinds of rsearch are not allowed for ethical reasons, but the majority of the sciences are studied and encouraged. We pride ourselves on our ability to make scientific discoveries." We did have trade with foreigners and acts of diplomacy, bute these nations were on our continent, and we kept this small international community to ourselves. [OUT OF CHARACTER: These nations that I am refering to are NPC nations. They exist In Character but I have not created them officially yet.] The period of isolation came after some horrible events in history. Between 1933 and 1947, there was a massive war. It was almost like a world war. After fourteen years of fighting, the Monavian Empire finally achieved victory and established an unchallenged power base in the world. Around 1965, there were rumors of a cold war developing between Monavia's neighbors, so Monavia left the international stage for a while."

Our nation is actually comprised of two originally seperate, but allied, empires. The Achaean Empire is the older of the two halves, as far as how long it existed as a nation before the Grand Unification. The Achaean Empire has always been ruled by the Marius family, descendents of the founder of the empire, Quintus Marius. He's my distant ancestor on my mother's side. He led the city of Imperia to independence from its more powerful neighbors, eventually building a federation of cities in the region known as Achaea, hence the name. Eventually, over the reigns of several kings, the Achaean Empire took over most of the Tetranian continent, though the rival kingdom of Tallus remained independent. Mastalinia (OOC: sort of like England) and Lanasia (sort of like Northern France) broke away. There have been numerous civil wars in Achaea, but the Marians have always come out on top."

"As for Ottonia, the younger half, the story is a bit different. Ottonia is a city in the province of Davarica, though the city originally held a different name. In it, a boy of middle-birth was born, named Otto Wolff. He grew up, and eventually took charge of the city's army in its darkest hour. He beat back the northern invaders, became king of the city on the crest of a wave of popularity, and proceeded to take over close to a third of the Quincerian continent. He died without ever having been defeated in a battle (draws didn't count as defeats) and so he is known as Otto the Invincible. His son was a good ruler, but consolidated smaller borders that were easier to manage. Otto's grandsons, however, were not of the same mold, and the empire collapsed on itself. A few principal kingdoms formed: Umberphallia, Etphallia, Davarica, Thallos, and Stavvia. However, Etphallia rapidly broke apart as well, into five kingdoms: Westphallia, Nurphallia, Saphallia, Estphallia, and Kallevia. Nurphallia and Saphallia quickly absorbed Estphallia, and Kallevia remained independent with Westphallian assistance. Westphallia and Nurphallia quickly became rivals, fighting at every turn. Anastasia walked alone to the ballroom as she thought about Nicholas. She took her seat at her table and watched Heinrich talk to Mr. Carter before she saw Catherine walk out of the ballroom. It did not bother her, she thought Catherine probably wanted to go for a walk in the palace gardens.

As it was, Dad died of pneumonia, at an advanced enough stage that they could not cure it. My mother died of another disease--I can't remember which one though-- so her father, my grandfather outlived his child, and when he died, the chain of sucession passed directly to me. My father had been Ottonian Emperor, so I became Ottonian Emperor for about three months before the unification."

Mr. Carter was not amused at the thought of disease causing such horrible things to happen, but such was life in some unfortunate cases. He stopped briefly, then continued.

"It is not very common in most realms, at least that I know of, to have royalty attend a public school, but there are some countries that practice these things. I have heard of monarchs and their children who wish to make use of a public school system." Mr. Carter answered before taking another sip of sherry.
