We hope this finds you well Your Majesty. I write this to you on behalf of His Highness, Terence II Chadney, Viceroy of Novus Regnum. We hope that you will forgive his inability to attend the Gala celebrating Your Majesty's recent coronation.

Due to medical circumstances, the Viceroy has found himself unable to maintain any degree of official communication with foreign Heads of State, however His Highness did instruct me to pass on his every good wish to Your Majesty, and bid you know that the hopes and prayers of the people of Novus Regnum are with you, and will remain with you as you govern your nation in a manner worthy of Your Majesty.

Anastasia was pleased to know that the nation of Novus Regnum and its Viceroy had given her their hopes, prayers and best wishes. After she finished reading the letter, Anastasia asked her personal assistant, Vladimir, to write a reply to the letter:

It is nice to know that the Viceroy (who I have forgiven for his inability to attend the gala) and the nation of Novus Regnum have given me their best wishes, etc (thank you). He had watched with subtle distain as the satellite map readout on his Palm Pilot showed a new purple dot and a slight shift in the Imperial border. The City of Phaera had wanted to join the Empire, and now that the Emperor had need of a new colony, it was... temporarily.
When the Force Commander reported destruction of all dissident forces, Gnaeus loaded the map onto a data card and put the card into a small jewelry box. He walked back into the ballroom from the balcony and approached the Empress. With the swiftness of a pickpocket, he slipped the box into her hand and continued on his way across the room.

I'm not asking you to marry me, but I am asking you to consider it, not only for us but for the good of our peoples. The territory is yours either way, as a sign of future good faith between our nations."

Anastasia listened to Gnaeus and was amazed to hear what he said: now she knew another man had fallen in love with her and that the Emperor of Belkaros offered to give her territory in Belkaros whether or not she accepted the marriage proposal. Listening attentively and in silence to Gnaeus, the Empress of Neo-Ixania decided she would give an answer to the Emperor of Belkaros.

"This night has been filled with many developments, three now have declared their affections for me. Gnaeus, while I consider the giving of Belkan territory to Neo-Ixania as a sign of future good faith to be a gift that is a sign of the generosity of Belkaros, I must....respectfully decline the marriage proposal for now, for I do not know whom I will marry, I have not chosen a person to spend my life with."

Anastasia looked at Gnaeus in silence after she finished talking and thought about the three men: Gnaeus, Heinrich and Nicholas who all had affections for her. She never expected any of this at the gala, never thought about people falling in love with her: the Empress of Neo-Ixania.

Listening attentively and in silence to Gnaeus, the Empress of Neo-Ixania decided she would give an answer to the Emperor of Belkaros.

From the internal landing bay, a helicopter was lowered down on a cable harness to near the ground. At this distance from the airship, it was safe to start the rotors of the AHT-21 Frost, which came down to the landing area nearby. The airship started up its landing lights, illuminating the area around it with white light, run directly from the backup batteries. Men rushed to it, bearing hydrogen canistors for the 3 turbofans that could be seen mounted on the rear of the airship, protruding outside the airship in a silver-painted gondola. To the front of the airship, a larger structure about 40 metres long, 15 metres wide and 6 metres high made from bright steel and blue-tinted glass, held the luxury suite of the president and his staff when he needed them. The airship captain made a thumbs-up gesture to the ground crew who were signalling, and the gasbag slowly became more limp as gas was diverted to the storage cylinders from the main cell network. It soon was floating only a metre above the ground, low enough to be dealt with by the congregation of ground-crew workers removing waste units and damaged parts, replaced by more supplies, fuel and a charge of the backup batteries by a mains cable.

The President of Alfegos was greeted by Vladimir, the Empress' personal assistant who had been busy patrolling the ballroom. With a handshake, he invited the President to enjoy himself (having accepted the apology) and pointed to the Empress, who decided to join the Fegosian Union during the recent debates over membership. Butlers with metal trays walked towards the President and offered him snacks.

Vladimir walked to the Empress' Table and told his liege of the arrival of the President. That was good news for Anastasia, she had hoped that someone from Alfegos would attend. Looking at the President from her seat, she began to speak to her assistant. "I hope to know the President better. It would be nice."
