On the planeride back to Neo-Ixania, Heinrich rubbed the new scar that the bayonet had given him, running down the side of his face, to the right of his right eye. Regulus' order had annoyed him to a good extent. It wasn't so much what it was he was getting ordered to do, it was that he was getting ordered to do it, and he knew well that it was fully within Marcus' power to force him to follow it. (A wierd quirk of Achaean (not necessarily Ottonian) government was that military leaders were permitted to throw the Emperor in jail for two months at a time during times of need, with proper reason (such as the Emperor deliberately ignoring orders that were in his best interest to follow) or if the Emperor turned out to be completely insane) On the other hand, he had at least been given a choice: go back to Imperia and sit out the remainder of the war there or go back to the gala. Naturally, he chose the second option. Sitting in the palace was not something he enjoyed, and it was well known that he was quite active, enjoying rifle shooting, archery, fencing, camping, pickup games of American football (he had been a linebacker on his highschool team (another unusual thing about him was that he had actually attended public school, and had ignored being the heir to the throne as much as humanly possible)), and fishing. He sighed and waited out the rest of the plane ride.

Empress Anastasia was talking to the other guests when she noticed Heinrich walking into the ballroom. She did not expect him to be returning to the gala and watched him for a minute before she continued to talk to the other guests.

As a civil war raged in his native homeland he was sent to a gala as a political gesture that would legitimize the faction he was in and gain support from other nations. He was dressed in an officer's uniform of the former navy of his country. It was either that or an over sized tuxedo that was to old for him. His two security guards left him infront of the doors to where the event was being held and litterally pushed him inside.

While Marcos and his guards walked into the ballroom, Catherine could see Marcos and thought he was the youngest foreign guest she had seen during the gala. She walked towards him and planned to greet him. "Hello. Welcome to the gala. I am Princess Catherine. It is nice to meet you."

Marcos bowed and then walked up to her and kissed her hand. "Pleasure to meet you Princess Catherine. I am Marcos Gonzalez of the nation of Deurem." he told her as best he could after kissing her hand. He was quite shy.

Catherine watched Marcos find some food while she sat at her table. She smiled at him and beckoned him to the table. "You can sit at this table with me, Marcos." Catherine said as she pushed a chair towards Marcos.

"Thank you." he said as he slowly sat down beside the girl. He was a wall flower and didn't know a lot about girls. Not to mention that all the girls his age had left where he resided. Even the girl who he had a crush on was now just a memory in his mind. He had no idea on what to say or even talk about.

Finally my nation is surrounded by water and has many beautiful beaches. Saddly most of the costal cities are in ruins and it is very dangerous to venture out to the beach for fear of hidden land mines." he told the Princess in a somber tone. "But it'll all get better soon." he said with a smile trying after his depressing tale.

"Are you sure you are ready to fight? I have several hobbies, Marcos, one of my hobbies is playing my violin. If you would like, I could play it for you. Earlier I had played for the Prince of Canadstein and I have no problem playing my violin for you."

Heinrich kept shooting glances over at the Empress. It was pretty obvious that he was quite taken with her. Nevertheless, he continued talking with other guests for a while, though every half hour or so he had to stop. This was because he had actually been concussed by the blow to the back of the head in the fight in Trajium, and so he suffered from blinding headaches regularly. Eventually, he wandered over to where Anastasia was in conversation with other world leaders. He figured he should start talking to those people too. He never knew which of them he might have to deal with later. Watch people's behaviors and habits Uncle Quintus had once told him, you can use those personality quirks and flaws to your advantage. He joined the conversation with a friendly "Hello Emperor Carlos, Hello Sun Brother Orson. I'm Emperor Heinrich II of Achae-Ottonia. You can just call me Heinrich though. It's nice to meet you guys." He looked at Anastasia and smiled warmly. "Hello again, M'Lady."

"I am I've been training for some time and am proficent with firearms. It would be lovely if I could hear you play seeing as how I have never heard a classical instrument before." he told her as he then stood up and put his hand out so she pull herself up.

Catherine began playing the violin for Marcos and hoped that he would like it like Prince Nicholas did, she always thought she was a good violinist and hoped Marcos would think she was one. After she finished playing, Catherine smiled at Marcos. "Did you like it?"

In his mind he was visually kicking himself. He felt stupid for saying that and wanted to jump out of the nearest window and run.

He smiled and gave her a peck on her cheek. "This gala is making me feel like there's a reason to keep on going." he told Catherine. "I've haven't had a chance to feel like a kid ever since my country went fell into a downward sprial."

Catherine felt Marcos' kiss on her cheek and remembered when Nicholas kissed her cheek. She smiled at Marcos and continued to dance with him. "It is nice to know you like the gala. I never thought I would be able to attend until my sister invited me."

I heard about the Civil War going on in your nation and that is hurting your people, and I want you to know that, even though we have some of our own internal problems right now, we'd be willing to give you and your people as much help as we can provide."

Within a day of receiving the message, Mr, Carter and a delegation of twenty people left for Neo-Ixania. They flew on the plane for three days, stopping to refuel every six hours. Soon they would arrive in Neo-Ixania.

“When I was younger, I often looked at the stars because I wanted to be an astronomer and I still look at them today, I still want to be an astronomer. If I was not an Empress, I would study the stars from my own personal observatory. It is a nice night, Heinrich, we should enjoy it.”

We are able to provide military evacuation for your citizens, but what do you have?

"I think I would have been an astronomer if I was not the Empress of Neo-Ixania. Although I pursue astronomy while I am the Empress, I usually am able to use my telescope late at night. You see, Heinrich, being the Empress of a nation, I am usually called by ministers to watch debates and decide on issues and that leaves me with sonly some time to pursue the study of the stars. Sometimes it is like this on some nights but when there is a storm, you cannot see the stars. As for gardening, I think some people before me used to garden or at least maintain the existing gardens."

Anastasia looked at Carlos and was concerned but decided not to ask why he looked worried. When she was finished talking to Carlos, she silently thought about the railgun and what Neo-Ixanian politicians would think about Carlos' deal.

The chopping of a helicopter broke the silence of the night as it landed on the tarmac. This was clearly not a vehicle ment for transporting royalty: the helicopter was small and agile, clearly a two-seat one instead of the larger and more well-equipped helicopters that were common modes of transportation for modern royalty. The small chopper did, however, sport the crest of a royal nation on its side, the silver and blue heraldry of Northern Rangeria.

The blades began to slow down and a single figure stepped out of the helicopter: a young man dressed in a grey dress uniform, complete with a blue sash going across his chest and midriff. In his hands he held a wooden box, and with it he walked to the soldiers guarding the tarmac.

"Still why even bring a weapon? Do you see anyone else here with a gun? No. This gala is suppose to be peaceful. But you have brought this gun to supposedly to protect yourself. I think that you just want to show off to the young girls." replied Nicholas with an icy look. "What do you think Catherine?"

Catherine had been listening to Nicholas and Marcos talk about weapons and she became a little nervous when Nicholas asked her about what she thought but she remained calm as she gave them her answer. "I think that he brought a weapon only to protect himself.....there is a conflict in his nation, but I do not know if he really brought it to show off to young girls."

"Good. Very good."

"We have everything ready. All we need to do now is to send the students to Alfegos. It was nice to have this discussion, hopefully this education program will have no problems."

"Tis good. So, is there anything else we need to discuss?"

The chopping of a helicopter broke the silence of the night as it landed on the tarmac. This was clearly not a vehicle ment for transporting royalty: the helicopter was small and agile, clearly a two-seat one instead of the larger and more well-equipped helicopters that were common modes of transportation for modern royalty. The small chopper did, however, sport the crest of a royal nation on its side, the silver and blue heraldry of Northern Rangeria.

The blades began to slow down and a single figure stepped out of the helicopter: a young man dressed in a grey dress uniform, complete with a blue sash going across his chest and midriff. In his hands he held a wooden box, and with it he walked to the soldiers guarding the tarmac.

"Tell Her Imperial Highness that a messenger from Prince Mikhail IV of Northern Rangeria requests her presence", the young man said to one of the guards, then stood his ground. He clearly was merely a messenger, but of good standing, apparently.

Empress Anastasia walked into the ballroom and was told that Prince Mikhail requested her presence. She looked at the messenger and smiled as she walked to him, looking at the wooden box that he held for a couple of seconds, thinking about what could be inside the box, before she stood silently in front of the messenger and introduced herself.

"I am Empress Anastasia II, for what reason would the Prince of Northern Rangeria want my presence?"

"Tis good. So, is there anything else we need to discuss?"

"I do not think we have to discuss anything else, I think we have discussed everything we need to discuss."

"Good."

He looked at his watch.

"I must be going now. I will see you at another time."

He moved to leave, to the airship that was now almost ready for takeoff.

Empress Anastasia walked into the ballroom and was told that Prince Mikhail requested her presence. She looked at the messenger and smiled as she walked to him, looking at the wooden box that he held for a couple of seconds, thinking about what could be inside the box, before she stood silently in front of the messenger and introduced herself.

"I am Empress Anastasia II, for what reason would the Prince of Northern Rangeria want my presence?"

The young messenger smiled a little. "You must have been mistaken, Your Imperial Highness", the man said politely. "My lord is currently unable to join your festivities. But I have been given the authority to deliver this to you, with the Prince's personal greeting."

After saying this, the grey-uniformed man opened the small box, which contained a small, dark green velvet pouch and a hand-written letter:

Dear sister of nobility,

It is with a grave heart that I must miss attending your most elegant gala. Matters of the state in our recently liberated homeland demand my presence as well as my undivided attention. And I would make a poor ruler, should I turn a blind eye to the needs of my people.

However, I would like to extend a both personal and stately invitation for You to visit my homeland, so we may discuss like equals should. Our fathers were close, I understand, and I would be glad to extend the friendship of my family and nation to you and your people.

As a token of my sincerity, please accept the gift that I have included in this letter. It is not gold or silver or precious jewels, but a symbol of the greatest wealth any nation can have.

Anastasia smiled at the messenger as she took the hand-written letter in her hands and began to read it silently to herself for a couple of minutes, it was not a surprise to her that Mikhail had invited her to Northern Rangeria because other leaders had already invited her to their nations.

Anastasia looked at the pouch and asked to see what was inside. When she saw the pendant, she smiled as she put it around her slender neck before she smiled at the messenger. "This is a nice necklace, I like it." Anastasia thought as she felt the pendant with one of her hands.

"Tell your lord that the Empress is thankful for the gift she has recieved and for the invitation to Northern Rangeria. Tell him that the Empress hopes our nations can be friends."

The young messenger smiled and saluted in military fashion.

"It would be my honour, Your Highness."

"Thank you, Sir." Anastasia smiled at the young messenger before she walked away from him.

"My enemies will go through any measures to kill me... They've gone as far into forcing a close friend to strap a bomb into hiself and send him to a hospital where I was. But hey sorry for being a little paranoid when I have to constantly look behind my back and wear body armor incase then send a sucide bomber to a church when I am praying or a ceasefire agreement in which they double cross my faction so they could take a potshot at me." he said as he then pulled the PM he had and taking its magazine and began taking out the bullets one by one intill he only had one left in the magazine which he then put back into the Pistolet Makarova. He then took the 9mm rounds and put them in a napkin which he nicely folded and then threw into the trash.

"Your Majesty, it is nice to know you are interested in me." Sara smiled at the leader of Nosovia. "I have thought....about settling down and having a husband."



"Indeed, so have I. However I haven't met anyone that i've felt as... connected to as I do you."

Emperor Miamorga walked into the gala not being quite sure of himself when he spotted the fair maiden he had been looking for. It was the host herself. He knew then and there he needed to meet her. Boldly he walked up but as she was already in conversation he waited loyally until she could speak to him. He felt that for the first time this was someone he could comfortably spend time with. So he waited from a reply from his new beautiful maiden.

"I think I would have been an astronomer if I was not the Empress of Neo-Ixania. Although I pursue astronomy while I am the Empress, I usually am able to use my telescope late at night. You see, Heinrich, being the Empress of a nation, I am usually called by ministers to watch debates and decide on issues and that leaves me with sonly some time to pursue the study of the stars. Sometimes it is like this on some nights but when there is a storm, you cannot see the stars. As for gardening, I think some people before me used to garden or at least maintain the existing gardens."

Anastasia looked at the stars for a couple of seconds before she looked at Heinrich in silence. Anastasia smiled at Heinrich. "Heinrich, it has been a pleasure being with you. If I had not pursued my dream to have this gala....I never would have met you."

After the last comment, Heinrich had to beat back the urge again to kiss her. Having to do that was getting really annoying. He wished he could just hold her in his arms, but he had a feeling she'd dissaprove of that, too. Give it up, loverboy came the inevitable mental commentary that had been running through his head all evening.
"I'm really glad I came and met you. Thinking about you let me take my mind off the pain from my injuries... sorry if that's embarassing. It's the truth though. I wonder if Achae-Ottonia will ever reach the stars...we only got to the point where we could fly about 50 years ago," Heinrich stated. "Do you enjoy those debates that you get called away for? I participate in lots of debates myself...or I would, if there was anything to debate. Unfortuneately, there isn't much of a dissenting opinion to most of the decisions that the government makes, and no, it isn't because we squash dissenters. We actually welcome a certain amount of dissent. Gives us all a reason to improve. But anyway, everyone is too...agreeable. It's almost a little annoying. Have you ever had times when you just want to argue or debate something with someone, and they just agree with you?"

He paused. "On another note entirely, do people ever give you grief about finding a husband? I know people give me all sorts of grief about it. I wouldn't be overly surprised if, in a month or two, I start getting pressured to propose marriage to you, even if neither of us thinks its best, or wants to. It's a topic people like to spring on me at random times. It got to the point where, before I came to the gala the first time, I actually promised myself I would avoid any and all thoughts on the subject. And, of course, I broke my promise to myself. How about you? Get trouble about that sort of thing?"

Usually, I am asked to give the final decision on an issue, Neo-Ixanian law gives me this power: once I have decided, the issue cannot officially be discussed further."

"As for marriage, I have not been pressured yet but my personal assistant, Vladimir, told me before the guests arrived that I may find a man that would be my husband. Marriage is something I have thought about but never have pursued. When I see the right man, I will know he is the man I should marry. Perhaps, one day, I will see the right man and we will be in love. Until then, I am a single and childless monarch."

Anastasia smiled as she looked at Heinrich. "I know that you love me, Heinrich, and to be honest with you, I was surprised to hear that guests like you loved me, I never really thought about that before the gala." She looked into his eyes for a moment. "When I find the right man, as I said earlier, I know that I have found the man who should be my husband."
