Grandfather Villa as he was called sat in the back of the room smoking a pipe and talking on

"this is just like when i was a boy, only then it was General Wata, he actually allowed socialism to arrive via the Russian refugee spree, however he eventually reformed the republic. this one may or may not. we can only hope..."

"you know son" his father spoke up " you lead another nation....could you provide us with anything to help?"

he looked at his wife, "shes the one who knows what our home has. but im pretty sure all we can offer is a refuge"

"That is all we can offer you kind sir. Refuge. AHSCA does not have the military or supplies to launch a major campiang. Please do not think anything less of me."

"Please,we are hiding in a bunker on some island off the coast. We have no power to think less of you."

A marine walked in...

" Im sorry to intrude but George and Shino need to get out of here...the air force is acting unusual."

"ok lets go"

"Thank you sir, I wish you my love and peace."

She took George's hand as he led her out into the streets.

"wait...take these"

Nicolas handed them a duffel bag, inside were rations, supplies, 3 JagD .45 Caliber pistols, 2 AM-06 Jaguar Assault Rifles (7.62x54mm) and ammunition for them.


"its the newest rifle, 100% water proof, hardly ever jams and very accurate. good luck"

he ran back into the barracks leaving them in the darkness....

they got back on the navy transport to the boat

The storm had come right as they came back to their small boat. They shipped off admist the rough seas, they couldn't stay put it was far to dangerous.

"Will you be okay?" Shino asked.

aaaaarrrrrrgggggggg.....


he continued to vomit into one of the buckets.....
"..i'll be fine..."

and he continued to puke

"I figured you would be used to this by now. Here try these herbs again."

"they seem to help"

dry heaves.....

he proceeded to lie down and relax....about two hours later he managed to get a pistol and put it in his for-to-long empty holster and go back to sleep

After some time of traveling they arrived back on Aurora. "Home sweet home." Shino said

I love being home, but i hate knowing that my home country is gone to hell....
george took the guns and threw them into the hut...then sat down in deep thought.

Shino sat down with him. She began kissing him to give him comfort. "You and your family always have a place here, Miamore."

"thank you" he kissed her again, "but this is bigger then my family this is about my people, we have spend centuries failing to govern ourselves...I no its only a matter of time before an outside influence takes over. then what, then Mokans are doomed to failure from the start. I pray that they can learn and become truly free like your people"

"Any other situation i would be their in the ranks of the MPA fighting" looking over at the guns...

"but i have another nation to take care of, and a wife to look after"

he kissed her once more, and went to sleep

Shino kissed him and they both drifted off to sleep. The next day low and dark clouds hung in the sky. The water was growing increasingly rough and teh wind was pitching. Lighting streaked down in the distance. Shino came back from collecting wood, though it may have been futuile. The storm looked bad, almost hurricane like.

"this cant be good"
looking at the coming storm George wondered what would happen next. ALready things were looking bad. and this storm just added to it....perhaps a higher power was trying to tell him something...

"George.." Shino said. She sighed and looked out to the horizion. "I don't like the looks of this."

"i don't either, we need to weather proof the villages, or find some place very durable, any caves or something around here to hide from it...we need the villagers to survive no matter what, we can rebuild"

"Your right, we need to move to the interior of the island." The wind and rain already began to pick up, as Shino grabbed the lantern from the hut. Both could barley move in the gale force winds and water was already comming up to their ankles. Shino tripped and fell but was quickly picked up by her Husband. The two stumbled further into the island interior, into the jungles, they provided some but not a lot of comfort and safety from the wind. Shino sat panting hard. "I-need-to rest for a moment." She said gasping. The pressure on her lungs was great. Her husband seemed to be fine but Shino was winded.

he held her to make sure she wasn't going to go down, however the wind was getting unbearable, so he had to brace himself against a tree to hold them up...

he prayed it wouldnt get worse

They huddled through the ravaging storm untill it finally subsided. Both were partially burried under sevearl palm leaves, twigs and other things, but they were uninjured. "Oh it's over."

at that point George collapse,

" i need to rest" and with that he was down..

"It's okay, you just rest here."

Geoge slept for what seemed like an eternity until he woke up extremely hungry...but remembered that they needed to see the villages.
"how long have i been out? we need to get to the villages"

"Hard to say, several hours at best."

Whats left of the villages?

"Not much. The storm was pretty bad. Our hut is gone too."

what left of this place...and i assume the guns are gone too ehh?

"I'm afraid so. We'll rebuild though. We always will."

looking down at his hip he saw what was now the only gun on the island...

"well i got this, but its not important right now, lets get to work"

pulling together all the brush they began their work..

They slowly started to rebuild their own hut but began to help the other islanders rebuild theirs. As they finally resumed work on their own the tropical rain was pouring down on them. An almost insult to injury, as they struggled.

These islands are beautiful but you pay hell to live here huh...we really should try brick and motor here...

he laughed as an attempt to ease the tension of the mess they were in...

Shino was a bit doubfounded but she realized he was joking. She laughed a little and kissed him. "I love you." They finally finished. The storm changed over into a thunderstorm with constant lighting and thunder. Shino removed her wet clothing and laid next to her husband cuddling up close for comfort.

George made a makeshift lean to and picked up his wife and lay her in it, after removing his own wet clothes he curled up next to her...in any other circumstances he would of tried to take advantage of the situation, however now they needed to stay warm and dry. He held her close...

The thunder was scary. The two however felt safe cuddled nice and close. Shino was panting slightly and blushing at times. Every clap made her jump and hold him tightly.

"I'm frightend." She whispered. As if she needed, it was obvious she was.

shhhhh its only thunder...nothing more....it will all be ok....

Shino always loved his comforting words. To reassure her it was only thunder. She drifted to sleep in his embrace. He stroked her hair for a while

"Are you all right? You don't look well."

he stoked her hair until they he too fell asleep. that night we had a dream, the contents were unusual, and he couldn't remember what it was about but it scared him, he had a feeling something bad would happen soon.

"We'll be okay. We will." Shino could not say that. More than anything she wanted to liberate the country of her husband, to save it. She loved him more than anything now. She just lied next to him and listend to the storm. Morning came with endless tropical rain still falling. Shino re-entered the hut. She was still nude feeling no need to put on cloths with the rain. "Good morning. I brought you some fresh fruit."

he shook it off, he had dreams like this before, always something bad happened but he couldn afford anything to wrong this time

he ate quietly, unsure of what it meant, but if he knew his uncle something was already underway to save Mokastana

Shino didn't like the silence. It botherd her. "Uhh, I have to go talk with my fellow leaders, on the other islands. Would you like to come?"

"yeah sure, where are we going"

the fruit helped him relax, one thing he learned long ago was not to worry about what you cant control...it would eat at the back of his mind, but he managed to hide it

"To all the other islands. I want to make sure they are okay from the Hurricane."

lets go...

They uncoverd the boat which was still burried underneat debries. "Amazing this survived."

They set sail, when they arrived on Hoshino the conditions were still just as rainy.

Shino could only talk with Schala for a moment she had been injured in the storm and needed her rest.

"Poor Schala, she got injured. Hoshino was hit pretty hard but I've heard Corona is worse. Stilltando is fine from what I understand, so I think we will head directly to Corona."

They moved out. The seas grew increasingly rough and stormy. Lighting streaked down from the sky. "Hey your not seasick." Shino remaked. Infact he didn't bear any signs of sea-sickness. "I think this is the first time we've sailed in a storm and you haven't been sick."

A clap of thunder scared her into his armes. "Ooh I hate these thunderstorms. They scare me so."

Now to work on your fear of storms...and besides, it only happens on long rides...now anyways.....

he held her close and whispered sweet things in her ear

Shino felt safe in his warm embrace as the ship bounced all around the stormy ocean. They finally arrived on Corona where it was still just as stormy.

"Milady Shino!" Ayla said with relife. They hugged and gave a light kiss.

"I see your husband is with you now."

"Yes. How did you make out?"

"The storm? It was awful, entire villages demolished. I wish Kino was still with me."

"I know, Kino knew how to do these things. But were here to help."

"Thank you so much."

Ayla leaned and lightly kissed George too.

George did the same...as was the custom he assumed...

looking around he saw the devastation that occured, he began to collect wood to rebuild,

They turdged through the storm to rebuild and get shelter back in place. The citizens helped as well rebuilding hut by hut.

"we really should get better buildings"

George said aloud, laying another branch on a roof of a hut...

"i mean think about it, i know you love this lifestyle, but if we got at least decent walls we would be able to survive these storms"

"We have been living this way for many years, I don't think we will adapt to any way." Shino agreed with her husband but she just had no idea how they could ever go through such an overhall of the interior.

"We'll manage." Shino added.

"I wish we could." Ayla said. "But I don't think we can. Bamboo is the strongest stuff we can find. Shino you and your husband really must stay here if the storm does not let up. I don't think it will."

They looked the dark sky as lighting streaked from it.

After much time rebuliding they finally retired to a private hut of their own. Shino and George washed eachother in hotspring that the hut was built over. They cuddled up and listend to the storm rage on outside.

You know...this hut, we may want to keep it, as a private escape....catch my drift."
He held her close...
"storms are beutiful, and perfect organization of power and beauty...just got to stay away from the power of it, why are you afraid of storms, anyway."

"I don't know. Maybe it's like you said, maybe it's the power of them that frightens me. Just the thunder, the lighting, it frightens me. But I don't feel so scared when you are with me. And yeah we should keep this as a private retreat for us."

he kissed her lovingly...

"you know what he havent done in a while?"
he smiled a slight grin with a look in his eye that said she was the only woman in the world...

Shino giggled, a clap of thunder followed her giggle. She began to kiss and touch over her beloved. The thunder was loud and furocious but it did not bother her, she was to distracted making love to her mate.

They made love all that night, the storm went on but that wasn't the point, the point was they were in love and showed it the only way anyone could show they truly loved them. Kissing and rolling all night, it wasn't until morning did they finally pass out from exaustion

They slept through most of the day before Shino awoke. It felt like afternoon. The sun had finally come out. She exited the hut and splashed cold water on her.

"Shino, good morning."

"Good morning Ayla."

"I was actually going to check on you two last night, but I saw..."

"Oh yeah." Shino laughed.

"You think you may have children soon?"

"I don't know. I have been feeling diffrent. But I don't know yet."

"Perhaps you should sail up to Kanami. They could tell you."

"Perhaps. It's not far and we may be able to do it in one trip."

"Reminds me of Kino, a night like that he would force me outside, grab me and kiss me for the longest time. Then he would part my hair."

"I wonder if George would ever do that with me? He's a romantic, he seems he would."

George rolled over and saw the sunlight creeping in...he felt so alive this morning? afternoon? it didn't matter...


".....kiss me for the longest time. Then he would part my hair."

part her hair, what does she mean by that? huh

Slowly George got up, kinda awake, kinda not...and stumbled out of the hut

"its afternoon, thats good."

he Kissed Shino once more, and again just to because

"how is the rebuilding coming along?"

"Good morning George." Shino said. She kissed him

"It's afternoon Shino."

"Oh my is it? Well Good afternoon George." Shino giggled.

"its afternoon, thats good."

"how is the rebuilding coming along?"

"Thanks to you two, the rebulding came along splendidly." Ayla said.

"Of course, it's our pleasure. We should go on to Animalpoils, we got trapped here, they probably need our help as well."

"Very well. You two have have a nice time."

They set sail for Animalpolis and arrived. People were also busy trying to recover from the storm. Small neko children played in cold water to cool from the heat of the day.

"ahh the Nekos, i love them, how bad did Animalpolis get hit by the storm?"

stepping out of the boat he looked around and then helped his wife get out and on dry land...

"is it just me or are the Neko children the only ones we see?"

"Hard to say right away."

Several adults came out. "Oh milady, it's good to see you."

"As to you. I'm sure that terrible storm hit you."

"Oh it did. Unfortunately we lost a small school. We just finished sending the lost children to the deep."

"I'm very sorry. Are you managing alright?"

"Oh yes, we are fine. Yasha-sama is making sure of it."

"Very good."

"ohh my"

George never took children's death easily, no matter how many times hes seen it before...

"I know." Shino said calmly. Later that night they retreated back to their hut on Aurora. Thunder filled the air again.

Shino sat down. "It's the monsoon season, that is why we are getting all these thunderstorms."

Shino removed her leotard. She began washing her self. George already had a bath but Shino was tied up with business when they landed. She dumped buckets of water on her self.

"I heard another country may seek to be an ally. This could be good. It may mean another long trip across the sea though."

what nation is that??

Mokastana had enemies..and George might be a target...but they also had freinds...he needed to make sure before they set sail

"I'm not sure...I belive they are called LatinByzatines. Though I've heard they may come to us. But I'm still waiting on confirmation."

ok that is good...i dont think we have had to many relations with them thouh

"No we haven't. This will be the first time."

Shino finished her bath and cuddled up with her husband. "Well either way, I just hope the weather will be okay for the relation building."

A clap of thunder sounded. "George, how do you feel about children?"

"relation building? well the islands are peaceful, so we should have no problems...as for children...well..umm.....uhhh....when?"

The thunder roared again and a flash of lighting lit up the sky.

"I don't know. I mean we've had plenty of sex, I don't know, I could be but I don't know...I just wanted you to be sure of it."

"Im sorry the question just caught me off guard. if your pregnant then that is amazing, but If we are leaders off this nation are ready to handle that, I mean i will have to run it while you are on bed rest, and while i am good on the battlefield i dont know about 5 islands."

To be honest, as much as he loved kids, George had doubts about his fathering skills

"I don't know if I am. I could be. But you'll be okay. You'll do fine should I have to go to bed rest." The Thunder brought them closer together. Lighting illuminated the hut. "You'll make a wonderful pa. I can sense it." The way you care and love me. More thunder and lighting as the storm picked up pace. "George, will you please whisper the lovely things you said, when were were on Corona. I'm feeling scared again."

He started with an I love you followed by more sweet words...holding her tight he promised she would be ok, and wondered how long storm season would last. He kissed her forehead and began to drift asleep, wondering what kind of kid he may have, and the problems that he or she would cause....after all not even he listened to his parents ALL the time as a child

Shino loved the kind words he spoke. Never before had she felt so at ease during the stormy monsoon seasons. Nights of harsh thunder always kept her up but now she could rest. The feel of her skin and her breats against George's felt good underneath the light blanket. George had so amazingly acustomed to the island life. She drifted off to sleep in his embrace.

George woke up during the night and went outside for a drink...

"which island am i on?"

Even though he could live here, it seemed like something was lacking, or that this was just a temporary thing and he would return to civilization soon.....he didn't know...soon he crawled back into bed and back to sleep

Shino awoke as morning came. Some rays of sunlight broke through the clouds. She stood up and stretched. Outside she looked at the sky, it was still stormy looking. "Milady." A woman said.

"Good morning."

"I'm sorry to take from your well, but there are so many people around ours."

"No it's all right."

Shino washed her face and took a drink of water. She began to gather fruit and rice patties. She made a small breakfast spread for the both of them.

(Here comes the doctor. Sorry if this is not a good post.)

Dr. John Payne was descended from English settlers of past centuries. He ran a thriving business in the city of New Constantinople and today he recieved word that the leader of the AHSCA islands, named Shino, wanted to use his services. Pleased that he could serve politicians and the like, he packed up his things and got to the island just in time. Greeting Shino and George respectfully, he asked they open a room with a platform for Shino to lay on. When this was done, George waited outside for any news. After a while, the doctor came out. "She is with child." he said to George calmly. "Congratulations."

Shino was excited. "George it's true, I'm pregnate!"

"I'm going to be a father...(he felt a greater shock then anything he had ever known)....im going to be father! I dont believe this...well i do but....stilll"

he continued to stammer until he made it over to Shino and hugged her

"I know I know I know! This is wonderful, apparently I'm already 4 months along. I can't belive this it seems like yesterday we were married."

wow...already for months...i mean...i don't know what to say....Im so happy!

What are we going to do? How are we suppose to prepare for the child here?

"It will be okay. But at about month 8 I need to go to bed rest, because I'm so young. But perhaps we should build a cradle for the baby. Make some more space in the hut. Just it will be hard while the monsoon is in effect." Shino looked at the overcasted sky.

Then George had an idea,

"where is the satellite phone? we could get some Mokan contractors coutesy of my family, and build a nursery here. one strong enough to survive the monsoons...until then yes lets get everything ready...but still...I mean.."

he still couldn't get his thoughts straight

"Are you sure? I mean your country is in a state of war after all."

"not anymore..i mean, it ussually is, but Mokans will take any chance to leave and come to this paradise.."

"Well okay, then follow me."

She led him to the phone and he called up Mokostana.

"What did they say?"

"well their is no government, we had another coup...(sigh)....But we are invited to the talks for a new government. Uncle Nic wants everyone on freindly terms with MOkastana...as for the contractors that can be discussed thier"

"I don't know about talks. I'm not in a condition to sail any long distances. It's a matter of time before I have to go into bed rest."

"but your nation is so peaceful, there has to be something that we are missing. Please help us."

begging was never his strong point, but he hoped his wife could help out...he didnt know how.

"no, you need your rest. I'm sorry, its just i got a feeling this is it the final regime change, i pray that we will finally be free of the shackels of chaos and..."

he could see the look on his wife face and decieded that the rant should stop

"sorry, i just wanted to see it"

"I know dear you just want peace. I do to. They could come here though."

"true...we shall see then shall we...but i wil have to call back later..."

he moved in and kisses his wife and future child,

" i love you"

"I love you too. But don't wait to long, satalite calls are hard in periods of bad weather. Now that were in the Monsoon season, were going to be seeing a lot more of it."

"joyus....well then i will just call and tell Nic to get us contractors whenever he can...but soon"

"Thank you. This is a wonderful thing your doing." She gave him a kiss

George managed to get a hold of the satillite phone and call before the next storm made it in...looking on the horizon he saw some more clouds...however he couldnt tell if they were coming towards him or away from him

As night fell, lighting roared through the sky with the thunder. In their hut Shino sat up constantly rotating her shoulders and kneck.

"George, would you mind, giving me a rub?"

he moved closer and rubbed her back...starting up at the shoulders and working his way down...

"lay down on your stomach"

Shino obeyed as she laid down. "That feels good." More thunder crashes what seemed to be every 5 seconds. "What do you think we should name our child?"

"i'm not sure...i haven't really thought of it. Do we even know if its a boy or girl?"

"Well no. But perhaps we can chose one boy name and one girl name. What ever we have we'll have. I hope though I can provide you with a son."

"well i have always to name a child in honor of my uncle Nicolas, he has saved numerous leaders and countless lives in Mokastana. He is the reason we are still free, as for a girls name, im not sure...

"Then if it's a boy, Nicholase. What was your mother's name? Thank you." Shino sat up, her muscles felt eased after the nice rub from Geroge. George imediatley cradled Shino in his armes with out being asked.

"Marcella, she was here during the marriage ceremony remember, that was the-"

last time he saw her, a tear welt up in his eye, it wasnt fair that his best day he had to lose so much family, all because of some asshole wanted to destroy the government...he tensed up for a bit..

"she was amazing"

"If it's a girl, we'll name her Marcella."

"well what about your family? Im sure they may be just as influencing"

"I really don't rember my parents well. Both of them died when I was still very young."

"there has to be some of them left doesn't their"

"Non that I know of. I may have cousines but I just don't know where they are. They may not even be alive."

he held her closer,

"im sorry, but soon we will have another family to take of, mainly a child, one that will know their parents"

"Yes, and a wonderful thing it will be." In truth Shino was scared. Her natural mother died giving birth to Shino. "Huh, this storm." More thunder and lighting rocked through the dark night.

"This season used to be the worst time for me, but now with you I'm okay."

"This season used to be looked forward to by the farmers...because the rains and storms were easier on their fields then the civil wars.."

"I've wondered, what it would like to farm. Could you see me as one? I mean what if I wasn't a duchess. What if you and I weren't leaders, just poor farmers? What do you think it would be like?" Thunder crashed all around. It frightend Shino making their embrace only tighter.

"I mean you have seen me in a pair of farmers overalls." Shino chuckled a bit.

"yeah you don't look to good in em" he chuckled "ive been their before, its a lot of hard work for not a lot of gain...thats why we became socialist in the beginning, and soon we joined the war..."

Shino laughed. "I guess I don't do I? Well worse comes to worse, you have skills. I will follow you. I wish there was a way we could bring peace to your country." She kissed him. "I'm afraid this is only the begining of these storms."

Uncle Nic knows what he's doing, he willl bring peace, i dont know how. Even if it kills him, all hes wanted was peace"

"That's wonderful to hear."

"perhaps why i can handle these storms so well is because of the peace they brought...and now another storm is bringing peace...the final storm"

he began to drift off into sleep

Shino rested her head on his chest and fell asleep as well. By the next morning the rain was still falling and the lighting still cracking. Shino braved the storm to gather food for them. With the time they spent rebuilding they hadn't adequatley prepared for the monsoon. "Good morning, I managed to get us some fruit."

George, who had somehow become a heavy sleeper while here looked up

"honey, let me go out and get food, or at least wake me up so we can both go"

"I wanted you to rest up. Besides it was my turn anyway. Think nothing of it my dear. But I will okay. Rain or shine." She kissed him. "After the baby comes, I'll need to make a fisher out of you."

"fishing? I got the gist of it...pointing to his pistol, or do mean with a rod and bait?"

"That and a net." Shino laughed a bit. "Many islanders will go for days at a time."

he sighed " so i got to do it the old fashion way then huh, we'll see what happens"

"Don't worry my dear, when you have too I'll be sure to go with you." She kissed him.


As the next few months passed Shino grew as the baby grew. She was nearly due. The monsoon season was nearly over and the sun shone occasionally. Shino woke from a nap just as George came back. He had his first day of poltical business.

"Hey did it go all right?"

"To be honest i didn't know what i was doing, politics is not my fortay, but this is similar to the embassy work, i guess"

"Well you'll get the hang of it, oh! The baby just kicked."

"how much longer do we have??"

"Any time now." Just then a clap of thunder sounded and Shino suddenly fell. "Oh my, I think it's time. Run please, get the doctor!"

he ran out yelling for a doctor, not sure of which way to go but his main concern was to get a doctor. "please hurry she's giving birth!!!"

The doctor along with a midwife assitant came running into the hut. Just as the rain began to fall.

"All right, she's in labor."

"Okay Shino today is the day."

"George, I want George with me."

George stumbled back to the hut with the doctor, tripped on a rock and fell, he scratched his face but kept on going. he had to be there. He made it into the hut, "im here," he announced and then realized he didnt know what he was doing

Shino extended her hand. Now the pain was comming from each contraction. She screamed and wriled with pain. "I see it, come on Shino you can do it. Push!"

Shino pushed and out came their new baby.

"It's a girl!"

"A girl." Shino said out of breath

george held his wife and let the doctor clean off the child,

"shes beautiful, just like you. get some rest mi amor, you need it"

Shino drifted into sleep.

"Congratulations, sir, she's perfectly healthy."

"she is so beautiful, i dont know what to say.."

he held his wife and looked at the little bundle of joy,

"we got a lot of work to do dont we"

"Yes we do." Shino smiled and kissed him. She kissed her little baby as well.

then one of the villagers came running in with the satellite phone and handed it to George.

"hello"

"hey Nic whats up"

"YOU DID!!! DAMN!!!"

"REALLY THIS IS AMAZING!!"

he moved down and kissed his wife and cheered...

"they made peace!!! and the contractors will be here next week , they are taking a Freighter now

"That's wonderful!"

So many things had gone great in this day, so many things....it was as if his life and just lined up perfectly...giving him one glance at heaven....

"I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!"

not quite making sense, but he couldn't help it

"I love it to!" Shino responded. "I don't know what my life would be with out you. You have always been here with me George. When your nation was in trouble, when I was scared of the thunder, and when we had our new little girl."

he hugged his wife...the wonderful feeling would pass as life caught up with them...but for now he would live in the moment of pure escasy....

Night fell once again, it was the first night in a while with out a thunder storm. Shino had Marcella cradled in her armes, as she rocked her to sleep. "She's so beatiful."

"yeah, she is and as typical as this is to say she has your eyes."

"Oh she certianly does." Shino kissed her. "Ah the night air, still...Is there anything more peaceful?" She laid Marcella down gently into a weaved cradle. "Do you think she'll have taken on my fear of storms?"

"well i dont beleive fear is genetic, so i doubt it, well she may, depending on what happens during them. but i got a feeling she will be a fearless child, if she is anything like the woman she is named after"

Shino cuddled up with George. "Marcella, maybe she will be a brave one. I hope she will."

"yeah my mother was a hell bent one as a child, or so abuela tells me, she always got into trouble, even during the revolucion she was rumored to have made sooo many kills, they hid this from me, but i found out. when i was older and in Jaguar training Nic told me she was one of the most feared assassins during the war."

His eyes glanced into space as he thought of her, one of the heroes of the revolution, and now dead at the hands those bastards......

he tried to shut it out

Shino fell asleep in his embrace. The day passed in a flash turning into a gravely stormy night. Marcella was crying as Shino tried to comfort and calm her down. "There there Marcella it's okay."

George couldnt sleep, the nightmares were back, chaos, insanity, something wasnt right, he turned and tossed but couldnt get any good sleep...

"im going outside for a drink in the rain"

"yeah sure"

he walked out

"Okay, would you mind?" She handed him her cup.

Thunder crashed along with it's freind lighting. Shino contiuned to cradel Marcella and started a lullaby. George handed her the water. "Thank you."

"There now she's asleep."

"Okay." Shino began to drift off untill the door blew open in the wind. She helped George force it closed getting wet in the process.

They were both soaked but it helped George lighted up a bit,

"he he, we need some better huts"

he lay his wife down and drifted off to sleep

"I guess we do." They drifted off. The next day it was still a downpour. Shino stayed inside the hut with Marcella.

George went out for firewood and food, until he realized that it was still raining, he never was a morning peron, he got some berries and came back into the hut with them,

" I miss supermarkets...."

he fell back and took a nap...

The rain contiuned well into the night. Geroge had brought a present for Shino at mid day. A raincoat, big enough for Shino and Marcella

"George, thank you. Where did you get it? And what about you my love?"

"the contractors arrived a day earlier then expected....i hope the islanders dont mind... but they brought everyone these, and rope, and bricks and equipment!

Where do you want the nursury to be put? I hope the locals dont mind the construction..."

"As long as it's not too disruptive. The nusery should be close to us. But are you sure you want to go through all this trouble, I mean I'm perfectly fine with our small hut."

"whatever you want, its not like buldozers or heavy machinery, it will be a basic brick building, brick and mortar, i told them we like it simple here, and that was their response."

"All right, I'm perfectly fine with that." Shino said.

" you sure, i can calll it off if you want?"

"No. They came all this way, simplicity I'm fine with."

construction began, the workers were given three weeks to get the building done, however once they realized how beautiful this place was they happened to suffer a delay or two, bumping it two 5 weeks.

"the land, the sea, the peace, the women, this place is paradise, one workere commented

"Sounds like the workers are really taking a liking to this place." Shino commented

"who doesnt?"

Shino laughed. "Well I suppose not everyone."

"who hasnt taking a liking to this place, i mean, besides the primitive lifestlyle this place is perfect, and the lifestyle just makes it more, worth it to see the joy in it. if only the rest of the world could be this easy.."

he laid back, smiling, this place was paradise, even without the supermarkets..

"Perhaps, then maybe there wouldn't so much war and chaose."

"True, but im sure even paradise has its own dark side, what is the history of paradise?"

he looked over to Shino curious about it

"Our history, has been dark. Full of turmoil, chaose, and death."

" i want to hear about this, not that im trying to make this place sound bad, but i want to know the history of the land, so that i can better...connect with the people, figure out why they can be beaten by a hurricane and come right back...your people are very strong. I want to know what made them this strong"

"Tonight then." Night was dark and stormy which made it perfect for Shino to recall the islands history. She was cuddled up nice and tight with George.

"You see the islands have all had their share of civil turmoil. Especially Truce. Truce has suffered the most of all of us. Many coups and deadly military occupations. When I sought protection from a neighbor to the north, I thought we would be safe but soon that was shattered..Our islands were shelled and bombed and invaded. I was taken prisioner in a diffrent country and kept there for days."

"which country?"


as much as he hated hearing about war and chaos he wanted to know the history of his new home

"What do you mean? Which country attacked us, which protected us or tried to at least, or where was I taken hostage?"

"im sorry" he could see this was bothering his wife a bit

"so when did you become free?"

"We declared our indpendence last spring but finally gained it in the summer."

"Yes as a nation we are still very young."

"Well i told you I'm not very good with politics, and if I'm Duke I need to know what we've faced....and which island is Truce?"

"Oh Truce is the informal name for Stilleståndö. We often call it truce because that has had the longest and most brutal occupations long before the war."

"Well every island has a diffrent history. Aurora has been pretty peaceful in the pre-war days. We've always been a Grand Duchy under my own rule.

Hoshino has been a fairly okay island in it's post satalite era. Besides poor soil and bad weather it did manage. Hoshino was settled well over a dozen years ago by a man named Akira Hoshino. Since then the island was occupied by Soviets but left to the Hoshinens.

Corona was perhaps the finest of all no civil tension existed and they haven't been occupied. Kino became Cheif just as became duchess here. You've met his wife Ayla.

Animalpolis remained undesturbed from the outside and was of course a haven for those that were the strange minority. This was the point when the leader of Animalpolis agreed to talk to the international community about the nature of this strange and mysterious island. He let a news crew film details about the island but it seemed to do little good for the island, as the documentry was paid little mind and wrote it off."

so how did you all unite

"Well during the war, when our protection agreement was broken, I was still in captivity somewhere, I really don't know. Well a big hurricane struck forcing all major combat forces to withdraw. It was a very mixed blessing. Many islanders were killed because soldiers forced them to give their huts over. Well after the storm all the major island leaders came together in secret and wrote up a decleration. Kino was taken as a result. But finally a peace treaty was signed between our former protectorate and their enemies and then we offically became free. I was finally released sometime later. We had been discussing unification for sometime but this war is what finally pushed us to it."

so which nations were involved in this conflict?

the storm was supsiding now, only a light drizzle remained

"Kanami was our protectorate. I don't have any grudges against them, they did their best. Stevid, IndependentHitmen, RedTide2, HotDogs2 all stood against us. They all occupied us for a while."

Geroge nodded, he hadn't heard of many of those nations, a few stuck out in his mind to be avoided. But overall it sounded like a dark past. he leaned back on the ground

" I don't know which is worse, foreign occupation and chaos, or internal civil war destroying your nation. Mokastana hadn't been occupied by a foreign power, but had came so close so many times because we couldn't unite. It seemed that they would rather die working with thier sworn enemies then let a Forger take their land

"Well, I'm happy now that your nation could cometogether just like ours. So far the civil unrest has been small, and we are hopping it will remain small."

"they don't seem to mind a foreigner as Duke, some of the higher ups treat me as a child, but that comes with the learning. I guess they dont like the idea of modernizing the islands as much as i do"

"Yeah there are some heavy traditionalists that would rather see a Native as a duke but they will just have to deal. But yeah modernization is just simply can't work. The soil isn't firm enough and we have lived this way for decades, I don't think the chage would go over well."

"Im begining to learn that, but i still miss the modern world. Perhaps we should go back and visit since peace has been restored, we still have that reservation for the hotel in Mokastana"

"Another vacation with you, sounds wonderful. Especially now that it's under better circumstances."

"ok" he chuckled a little "when do you want to leave?"

"Well in a week will be good. And we'll take Marcella with us."

"that or we could just go with the construction workers back to Mokastana, and take a small flight back,"

"Well if we go with the workers it will require a boat to get back. Maybe we should take our own."

"All right." They cuddled and slept through the night.

The week came and they geared up to set sail. They hoisted the sail and pushed off from the shore. They sailed on into the distance toward Mokostana.

Shino poured over maps while George played with Marcella. "She's growing quickly."

"hey Mr. Villa, we have a proposition for you" one of the construction workers ran up to the boat as it took off

he waved them off and they set sail...

"TO MOKASTANA!!!"

Before they knew it they had arrived.

"I don't think I've ever made such good time before, that was amazing." Shino with Marcella in her amres was helped off the boat by George. "It looks beautiful. More than I rember."

looking around geroge say how much The nation had changed since he was here last, not only had the boarders expanded, but trade and commerce had taken its effect, people of different races and lands busleing around the city.

They were in Mokastana City....and it looked more beutiful then ever...

"I'm so happy this place has been pulled together again. I'm happy for you George." Passerbys gave strange looks to the man and woman with their tiny baby. "I supposed we should get our selves some cloths. It will be weird though, I've gotten so used to you bare chested."

George went to a phone booth and called the Villa home, after a while eventually someone picked up

"hello" george spoke up

"this is Geroge"

"yeah Im in town, look we need-"

"yeah yeah i know just get us a car! and clothes"


soon enough a older Cadillac came up and picked them up, it continued downtown,

"excuse me i think we missed the turn to the Villa estates" George looked over as they past the turn

The drive spoke up "the Villa estate was destroyed during the Martinez regime, we are now going to the presidential place, your unlce is thier"

"whos the president now?"

"he is"

"Sounds exciting. Now your uncle is leader."

"wait what, but thats suicide? why would he do that?"

"well the new government is a confederacy, so he has less power, so he may live a year, maybe to"

"Are you sure your country is quite stable? I wouldn't want harm to come to him."

the driver spoke up this time

"this is Mokastana, we are never stable, however this was the only option to keep the nation together, I don't doubt that another war will break out, but this time the island is together, and the Sur region likes us. I bet the Mejico region will revolt. That will be fun, but they have nothing to gain by assassinating your uncle, he has no power."

Shino gasped. "George maybe we should take your uncle with us. I don't want any more of your family to be taken."

the caddy pulled into the presidential palace roundabout,

"no this is his home, he would never leave it"

they walked up to the gates where two guards let them in and lead them to a staircase to the upper levels where they had a room waiting for them, the putty filling the bullet holes from that battle so long ago. No one had put much into the renovations, and soon it was going to be a museum anyways, so what things were left were bear and bulky or riddled with bullets

"If your sure. I can't bear the thought that he may be killed it just..." They walked on. "Looks as though this could use some work."

They went to their room and were supplied a casual suit for George and and a nice blouse and pants for Shino. After they had gotten dressed Nicolas came in to greet them, he was wearing a beaten suit and looked like he hadnt gotten a good nights sleep in a while

"NEPHEW HOW HAVE YOU BEEN?"

he ran up and gave him a hug, they embraced and George let go with a serious look in his eye

"Uncle what the hell are you thinking? no head of state lives longer then a year!"

Nicolas regained his composer,

"Is anyone left to govern this nation? Everyone who knows anything is dead. We need someone who can handle our crisises, and sadly that has fell on me now. I'm the nations only hope."

he looked at Marcella, and forget everything he was saying

"she beautiful...let me get her some blankets, Guard get some blankets in here, for the baby! whats her name?"

"Her name is Marcella."

Nicolas teared up, he had always been fond of Marcella. It was a shame his brother married her, but they were good for each other.....were...until...

"I hope she turns out just like her, Marcella was an amazing woman."

"So what brings you two here?"

"We came for a visit, now that your country is stable. Or it should be at least. We set sail little over 10 days ago. It took us at least 20 days to get here our first time but the weather was great this trip. Not a single patch of rough weather."

"thats good. Well i would love to say we are stable, but compared to the past this is as good as it gets. This Palace even is suppose to be torn down, and in place the "Great Hall" will be established. Now if you two are here on tourism i can offer you a few places, but ever since the confederacy came up crime in Mokastana has been on the rise. Not the petty thieves or anything, organized crime: Mafias, Coke empires, warlords. Just two weeks ago we had a shoot out at the General's Club, or what you remember as the "People's Club" wasnt that a joke....(he laughed at himself for a second)....anyways, the streets are safe, but if gunfire starts get the hell out"

"I'm truly sorry. Have you ever thought of asking for international aid to root out a more stable government? Perhaps our former Protectorate." That was a bold statement for Shino. Their Protectorate was regraded with hostility by many on the islands for letting their enemies come and tear their lives apart. Shino however was more forgiving.

please the people would never go for it. We had our fair share of foreigners, Hell i invited foreign governments for the deciding of this government. I think to showed up, the diplomats were useless. This is the best we can do now."

"Dont do anything stupid okay uncle"

"will do, hey you should be enjoying yourselves. I can show you around, or if you would rather be alone, well i can take care of that too"

"Well if you are sure. I feel like Mokostana is my home too, and I want to see what's best for it. And I'm okay with either. Whatever George may like."

I dont mind either way. How busy are you uncle?"

"pretty busy, but i need a break. we'll take the limo,

Gaurd! get me the limo ready, and a babysitter for the baby.

(looking back at Shino) Mar...marcella can come, but this way she will be taken care off in case we go to a club or something else."

soon they were heading downstairs for a tour of Mokastana City

"Wow this is one large city. I think I would get lost here."

"yes it is, not only is it the largest but it is the traditional capital of Mokastana and the Capital of the Mokan Region of the Confederacy."

The limo rolled down Government Drive, which was as ever-changing as it was symbolic. None of the original buildings from the fist united socailist government still stood. Where the old presidential palace once stood the Department of Foreign Affairs had been built. Congressional Hall was being torn down and in its place Confederate Hall was taking over, while the reasoning MNN news recieved was because the old building was old and falling apart the truth was a bit more then that. The building was old, and it was also where the fascist murdered 18 senators, 34 Congressmen, numerous security staff and held the rest hostage. not to mention the bomb that blew out the side of the building that they blamed on the socialist.

Turning on main street the city came alive, bustling businessmen strolled in suits, police watched the clubs and banks, people walked on with their daily lives.

"so, (the driver spoke up) are we going to a club, dinner, or what?"

George looked at his wife

"what do you want to do Mi amor?"

"I am very hungry. Dinner sounds nice."

"well then we should go to the Casa Comida, they have some of the best Mokan food around" George spoke up

"Actually the Mafia bombed that a month ago, it only killed three people, but the place shut down afterwards. Personally i would recommend the Palace,"

"Well then the Place it is."

the limo turned on Livertad and continued to the palace.

When they sat down for their meal and began to order Shino commented "This is a nice place. Nothing like back on the island."

"what do you mean by that?" Nicolas spoke up,

"We don't have anything like this. There are only two solid structures now. Our nursery and our Government chambers. The rest is very primative. Even our own boat is sail powerd"

Nicolas spoke up again,

"why are you so primitive, no offense of course, but why?"

btw the menu is very Hispanic...

"Just how we've always been. Our islands have had very little human contact before."

the waiter came up and spoke in a rather thick Cubano accent...

"what can i get for you all?"

Geoge ordered the Carne asada, and Nicolas smiled and asked for the spiciest thing on the the menu

"The Casadea sounds heavinly."

The waiter took the orders and went back to the kitchen. Inside the band began to play different Classical songs, many with a strong Influence of Russian Culture. While others were clearly Mokan in beat and tempo.

"not had much human contact? What do mean by that? Im sorry im asking to many questions aren't I? My apologies Senora"

"It's quite all right. Well what I say is just as it sounds, not much contact with the outside world. Sort of a defacto isolation. Just how it's always been. Since I was born, since my parents."

"what about fear of invasion? Surely all the imperial maniacs out there scare you dont they? and George, what power do you have their?"

"We do now. We have been faced with imperialism. But I move on and forgive. Georgie here is my partner pretty much. If for some reason I can't attend the delegations he goes in my place. He too has the power to over rule any legislation. He has full authority that I do."

They continued to eat, soon a message was received by Nicolas' cell, he got on a very serious tone.

"Shino what do your people no about espionage. More exact, your cat people?"

"Like spying? Why do you ask? Is something wrong?"

"we need an agent into a nation of some type of cat people, they claim to be aliens. We dont know. Nevermind....we cant put a primitve into an enivorment we dont understand..."

"Well some may not mind. There are those militia men that still have great skills."

"well during the great international Civil war, a few of the facist escaped the island, we have found two. But the third has flown the coup to some crazy zeno-phobic nation. we can give you more details later."

Nicolas' phone rang again, after five minutes of arguing he excused himself, left a 100 Gold labor bill and left

"Im sorry, i have to go. Nice to see you two again. George, be careful. And your daughter will be at the palace, the staff adores her."

and with that he left

"Uncle Nic always tryin to save the world...so baby, we what do you want to do tonight?"

"Well I would adore a dance with you."

Well then lets see if i still remember this place, after paying for the food and leaving a generous tip from the hundred Nic left he took his wife downstairs.

"Last i was here this place wasnt nearly as fancy, but judging my the music they still have salsa in the basement."

which they did, a small club, rather nice looking one too had taken over the basement of the Palace.

"May have this dance amor?"
