"I don't think he can jump quite that high," commented Loki as the height discrepancy between Arioa's head and Nephil's increased. "But painfull? He jumps on my head all the time... and I don't find it painful."

"Do you?" he asked to Arioa.
Theao

"No, but my ears arn't on the top of my head like dad's are." Arioa replied

Chaos looked at the male demon sitting in a chair, “Come on. It is just a litte blue ball of hair.” joked Chaos. "It is not going to eat you."

"I guess thats a good point," Loki said, "Neither are mine."

Nilrem was tired of bouncing up and down and seeing that he could no go any higher for the moment, he stop jumping and sat on Arioa's head.

She reached up and began stroking him.
DMG

"I think he likes you," said Loki as Nilrem lied calmy on her head. "Haven't really found anybody else that he likes."
Theao

"Ah." She said as she continued to play with the blue fuzz on her head.

Nilrem continued to sit on Arioa's head as many of the people watched him.

Eragon smiles gently. The steel-blue of the eye he leaves uncovered gleams and could be said to be smiling as well. Lleld snickered as she created a ball of coldflame and started bouncing it along side Nilrem.

"Well," said Eragon, "You all know me, and you've met Lleld and Saka," he gestured at each woman as he mentioned her name, "and I have heard a few of your names mentioned," he looks around at the group, "but not all of you have stated your names."

Havoc moved over to Eragon, “The tall blind man is Tom Rowan. And the rest of our group are just back up. You really don‘t need to know their names.” The members of the group knew Havoc, Chaos and Tom were the important ones. And really did not care, if only Havoc, Chaos, and Tom were named.

Arioa reached up to pluck Nilrem off her head, so she could pet him some more.
DMG
30-10-2005, 17:24
Nilrem sat in Arioa's hands as she pet him. Loki pointed at Nilrem and said to Eragon, "Thats Nilrem, if you didn't know already... he is an Eborall."

Nilrem began bouncing again in Arioa's hands before jumping back onto her head and settling there.

Nilrem finally gave up trying to get any higher and settled on sitting in Arioa's lap. He sat there, not bouncing, as Arioa pet him, and let out another rare *Crrrr*

She continued to pet the little blue fuzz ball.

Serinus blinked, "That is the first time I've heard him make any noise, Loki. What does it mean?"

The elf looked over at where Loki was.
DMG
30-10-2005, 22:39
"Yeh, he doesn't make any noises usually," Loki said. "I think it means that he is having a strong flow of emotion or he wants to tell us something. Though, I have never been able to truley tell." Loki paused and then said, "He is as much of a mustery to me as he is to you..."
Theao
30-10-2005, 23:21
"So Nilrem, why are you making noise?" Arioa asked
DMG
30-10-2005, 23:23
"Hehe," Loki giggled. "He can't talk..." Loki continued to chuckle at Arioa.
Theao
30-10-2005, 23:41
"You never know, he could just choose not to." Arioa replied
DMG
30-10-2005, 23:43
Loki paused for a moment as he let the thought pass through his mind, "No... we are best friends - if he could talk, he would."

Nilrem just sat there not moving as he looked up towards the ceiling.
Theao
30-10-2005, 23:57
"Perhaps he speaks a different langauge." Arioa said
DMG
31-10-2005, 00:00
"Look... I've known him for five years," Loki said as he began to get frustrated, "Nobody I have ever met, can understand his language or even thinks he has a language..."
Theao
31-10-2005, 00:03
"Then what would you call his, what ever it is?" Arioa replied, "And I do."
DMG
31-10-2005, 00:05
"Well you're wrong..." refuted Loki. "It's just a sound he makes, like a bear growling or a dog barking."
Theao
31-10-2005, 00:40
"Well, have you ever talked to a dog and had it answer?" Arioa asked, "Cause I have."
DMG
31-10-2005, 01:41
"Well you are just wierd then..." said Loki. "If Nilrem could talk, he would have done it by now."
Theao
31-10-2005, 01:48
Arioa stuck her tounge out at Loki.
DMG
31-10-2005, 01:50
"1400 years old and still more immature than a five year old..." Loki said as he grinned.
Theao
31-10-2005, 03:06
"She is only seven." Nephil replied as he looked down at his daughter indulgently.
DMG
31-10-2005, 03:12
"Yeh, but if she is seven in under-worlder time, that would make me... 9 days old. From what Arioa said, she is considered seven in your soceity but up here, she would be 1400 years old," Loki said confusingly.
Theao
31-10-2005, 03:17
"Time and aging is relative." Lillel said, "If we lived it up here we'd be extremely old by anyone's standard, as it is, we arn't."
DMG
31-10-2005, 03:20
"Uh... ok then," Loki said still not grasping the matter. "Fine, she is seven then."

Nilrem jumped out of her lap with more energy now. He began hopping around Arioa in a circle.
Theao
31-10-2005, 03:23
She began spinning around, trying to keep so she was always facing Nilrem.
DMG
31-10-2005, 03:25
Nilrem, seeing that he had another game to play, continued hopping around Arioa. Although, now that she started trying to keep up with him, Nilrem began hopping faster and changing directions to fool her.
Theao
31-10-2005, 03:28
She was laughing as occasionally he got her spinning quite fast, then changed directions causing her to fall over.
DMG
31-10-2005, 03:32
Nilrem seemed to be happy as was indictated by the amount of jumping he was doing. Nilrem began jumping in the same direction around Arioa really fast and Arioa's spinning increased again. Eventually, Nilrem jumped into her lap as she continued speeding up and eventually the force caused him to fly out. He flew straight into Loki's hat, causing him to follow over backwards and causing the hat to fall over his head.
Theao
31-10-2005, 03:35
As she spun, dizzy, she giggled at what happened to Loki.
DMG
31-10-2005, 03:37
Nilrem jumped from Loki's had to his stomach, where he continued to bounce up and down. Meanwhile, Loki was struggling to remove the oversized hat from his eyes, but failed in doing so.

31-10-2005, 03:38
Arioa was giggling, while Nephil and Lillel grinned.
DMG
31-10-2005, 03:43
Loki continued to struggle to remove his hat while everyone giggled. "It's not funny," Loki protested, "I don't like the dark..."

Nilrem continued to jump on his stomach and occasionally back onto Loki's hat for a moment.

DMG
31-10-2005, 03:57
Loki's hat finally popped off, revealing a relieved mage. "Thank you," he said to them. He placed the hat back on his head and straightened it.

He then turned his head to Nilrem and gave him a stern look. Sitting up, Nilrem instinctively jumped off his body onto the floor in front of him.
The Transylvania

Chaos stood back up and looked at Nilrem. He watched him just sitting in front of Loki like he was bad child. His right hand moved back and forwards on the black ‘handle’ of his whip. Chaos looked back Loki and said “Nilrem is to much trouble for me to deal with. How do you do it?”

If anybody looked at Havoc, he was doing the same thing as his brother.
DMG
31-10-2005, 04:09
"I don't know - we are best friends, what am I suppose to do?" suggested Loki.

"Anyway," Loki said as Nilrem began bouncing around again, "What are you guys doing here... on this island?"
The Transylvania
31-10-2005, 04:18
“I have no idea why you put up with him knocking you over all the time.” said Chaos. He looked back at the bounding blue hairball, “We on this island because our Master told us to come here.” he said.

“This island appeared out of nowhere.” he added. “This island is not on any map that the Dominion has.”

“A Ghost island is what my Master called it.”
DMG
31-10-2005, 04:20
"Well, why did your master send you here, then?" asked Loki, ignoring the statement about Nilrem.
The Transylvania
31-10-2005, 04:26
“Because he wanted to know why this island just appeared out of nowhere.” said Chaos. He really does not know why Count JWolf sent them to this island because when his maser tells him to do something, he does it.

“Plus…me and my brother are two of his best fighters. So, it would be good to send us along with Tom.”
DMG
31-10-2005, 04:28
"Whats it matter if you two are good fighters? And what does Tom do?" asked Loki as Nilrem continued to bounce around on the floor.
The Transylvania
31-10-2005, 04:39
Chaos looked back at Loki, “You see this whip at my side. We have had them when we were at the age of eighteen. A gift from Count JWolf, our master.”

“We have been using them for over 500 years as of now.” he added with a smile. “And what if hostile beings on this island, that is why we are here. To fight those beings.”

“And my blind friend, Tom, he is good at dealing with new people with his words. He has talked many people to into many things.” he added.
DMG
31-10-2005, 04:41
"Oh... sounds interesting," Loki lied. "So... basically you guys are puppets, blindly following orders of your master."
The Transylvania
31-10-2005, 04:47
“Not really, before we met the Count.” started Chaos. “We were living on the streets. Now, we live in mansions or castles or some nice place. We had horses to ride after meeting him and now we have motorcycles or cars to drive.”

“For everything he gave to us, we have paid him back in some way or another way.” said Chaos. “So…we are not puppets. But he does have people that are like puppets under him.”

The Transylvania
31-10-2005, 05:07
“Well…call us whatever to you want. Some people call us evil and some have called us knights.” said Chaos. “But I will tell you something my short friend.” He paused for a few seconds before moving on. “Lackeys don’t get nice stuff like huge houses or cars. They only get paid with cash. You know money.”

“And thugs are idiots. I mean, me and Havoc are not thugs. More like... enforcers.” he added. “We do thing for ourselves and the Count. Like the time, we took out fifty armed Nazis by ourselves.”

"That was you?" Lillel asked, "I'm impressed, they are quite annoyed at you, you know. Promising all sorts of horrible vengence if they ever get thier hands on you."

“They can try.” said Havoc as he walked behind her. “And they will fail again.” He moved closed towards her, “Many Nazis fell under the Count and his Black Wolves. The Count himself was a high-ranking Nazi commander. He was a soldier for hire and the Nazi paid him the most.”

“Well…something made him switch sides during WWII. And Hitler did not commit suicide like everybody thinks. The Count made it look like he did. Or should I say he influenced him to commit suicide.”

"Whatever..." said Loki as they continued to use all sorts of words that he didn't understand. "You can call yourselves knights if you want, but I knew a real knight once... and he was nothing like you - bigger."

“You knew to clean out your ears because I never called myself a knight. I said some people called us knights.” said Chaos.
DMG
31-10-2005, 05:30
"Well then some people were wrong then..." Loki added, "True knights wouldn't be so arrogant or boastful."

Loki turned from them, not wanting to continue the conversation any further, and handed Nilrem another nut.
The Transylvania
31-10-2005, 05:38
“Well…think what you want.” said Chaos as he turned away from Loki. “I’m not a knight and will never be one. But when you save people for hordes of wild animals or maniacs. People will call you knights.” He walked over and stood by Havoc.
DMG
31-10-2005, 05:44
"Again with the arrogance," Loki said quietly to Nilrem. Suprising as Nilrem was finishing his Blayshin Nut, he let out another of his rare noises. *Crrrrrr*

"The world is a strange place, no?" Loki said as he continued to talk to Nilrem.

Dragon Emperor
31-10-2005, 07:02
Raising an eyebrow, Eragon replied, "You are here on this island for whatever your personnel reasons are. You are in this room...so I can give you the big 'tour'. And would you please continue your ethnocentric conversation out of the Saethe chambers, and preferably out of my ear shot. It is rude to try to force the morals, ethics, and codes of one's own nation on to someone else from another nation. We Dragonlord's know this, that is why, in the past, we used to offer our services as impartial mediators," he turned towards Chaos and Havoc, "As to why the island suddenly appeared, I have to assume that it happened when we breached the coral reef that surrounded the island making the prospect of leaving impossible. This reef may have had magickal qualities that removed us from the rest of the world, allowing ships to pass through this location unharmed. The only times, during that period, that we got new arrivals was during storms and the Dolphin-backs were the survivors of the shipwrecks. Storms that reach a severity that every century we must evacuate the Northern Plains because of storm surges. I must assume that this island exists in its own pocket reality and that the storms rip openings in the fabric of this reality allowing those from your world to enter this one. Surely your historical records," he paused for breath, "list several ships that went missing in this area. We have recovered ships ranging from Spanish Galleons to Viking longboats from the reef."

Lleld looked at Loki, "If that hat causes you so much trouble, why not get one that fits better?"
The Transylvania
31-10-2005, 19:44
The little guy has huge problem if he thinks knights are not arrogant or boastful. said Chaos to himself. Or he believes what he reads in fairy tails.

Havoc and Chaos walked over to Eragon, away from Lillel. “Yes, we do have records of missing ships but none in this area.” said Havoc.

“So…maybe your world and our world exits on two planes.” said Chaos.

“Now, what would this big 'tour' have in it?” asked Havoc.
DMG
31-10-2005, 22:50
"They are quite misjudgeful, aren't they Nilrem?" Loki said quietly.

He stood up and straightened his clothes. Picking up Nilrem in his hands, he placed him on the brim of his hat, so he could watch the tour also. "Yeh, lets take the tour..."

Eragon roared, "Enough! I have had enough of your petty bickering."

Slightly calmer, he says, "The tour will be of all the publically accessable areas of the Keep. This includes the gardens. Though, stay out of the personnal quarters unless the Dragonlord that occupies them invites you in. As for other off-limit areas, you will be informed when you pass near them."

"Yes, lets begin the tour..."

Eragon smiled coldly, "And neither of you know what a Dragonlord can or can't do. You also know nothing about the acuity of our senses," he walked over to the door, "Now, shall we be on our way? Or would you rather see what's behind the walls in this room first?"

Dragon Emperor
01-11-2005, 06:27
Eragon smirks from the doorway. He walks over to the left side of the fireplace on the wall behind his seat at the Council Table. He runs his right hand briefly over the stones their before pressing one. A massive section of the stone wall swings out revealing a small chamber. Inside, their was enough room for one person to stand with a stone ledge. On the ledge was a silvery device. It was shaped similar to a dumb-bell, but with a vertical cylinder in the middle of the central bar. The top of the the central cylinder was shaped of a slightly sloping cone. On two sides, their were two glowing ruby red indentations. Several wires ran from the device and went inside a pipe in the wall behind it.

"This," Eragon said, "powers this tower. Their are several hidden throughout the Keep. They were amoung the gifts our allies from above the clouds gave us in exchange for us allowing them to use the Visorak Horde. The philosphy with technology on this island is, if it can't be designed aesthetically, or hidden, then its not used at all. You may have seen several examples of it already and not realized it."

Lleld said, "Surely you noted the Staffs the suits of armor held down-stairs."

"Uh... I can't say I did..." Loki admitted. He had been hoping for something much more impressive to come from behind the wall... but none the matter.

"From what I understand," Eragon replied, "This one little device can generate enough power, when on overload, to level this entire mountain. That's just this one, their are many more all over this island. Ten on this mountain alone," he paused, as if to consider something, "and on the other side of the fireplace is a concealed weapons cache."

He montioned everyone out of the alcove. When everyone was clear, he pressed the same brick as he had earlier. The locks that had held the hidden springs in place released and allowed the stone to move back into positon. As it did, the door closed on the alcove, sealing it.
The Transylvania

Havoc, Chaos, and the rest of the group watched Eragon open a hidden door to some power generator. That little thing can level a mountain like this. said Havoc to himself. Got to get myself one of those thing to take back to the Count. He will love it.

Then Eragon said a word everybody loved, weapons. They waited for him to show off the weapons of this island.
Dragon Emperor
02-11-2005, 06:54
Eragon moved to the other side of the fireplace. He place his hand on a stone.

But, before he pressed it, he said, "The weapons in here were either found by archeologists in the World Beneath, forged here on the surface, or traded for from regional allies."

He depressed the stone and the wall opened. A room the size of a medium walk-in closet was revealed. The walls of the room were lined with swords, Staffs, wands, and other devices. Eragon walked in and picked up a small weapon in a holster. He removed it from the holster and pressed a switch. The grey weapon sprung into its active postion. In the active position, it bears a striking similarity to a snake.

"This," Eragon said, "Is one of the Zat'Nikatals that the Holy Empire of SeaQuest, a regional ally from above the clouds, traded us. These," he deactivated the Zat'Nikatal and put it back in its holster, "and some other weapons were traded for some nuggets of a material they need and permission for them to search the Dominion for deposits of the mineral so they can mine it."

He placed the holstered weapon back were he had picked it up from. He moved to the other side and picked up a sword.

"This sword," he began, "is one of the blades forged by the Dwarves from a Dragon fang."

Just then a Dwarf stuck his bearded head into the main Saethe chamber and knocked on the door.

"Excuse me, Dragonlord Eragon, sir," he said, "sorry to interrupt, but they found something at the digs you should see for yourself, sir."

Eragon put the sword back, came out, and sealed the weapons cache back up.

He looked at the group and asked, "Would you like to see the digs? There is much still left we can learn from what was left behind in the World Beneath."

Eragon nodded at the Dwarf. The Dwarf popped out of the room and could be heard scurrying away.

"Lleld," he said, "You can start taking them yourself. I need to grab something from my office. I'll join you as soon as I can."

Lleld nodded her understanding as Eragon returned through the door he had first emerged from.

"Okay, folks," she said, "would you please follow me. The fastest way to the digs would be to use the slide next to Vol Turin, the Dwarven name for the Endless Staircase," a wicked glint appeared in her eyes, "it was built so exactly, that as you go down it, you don't even feel the places where the sections are joined through the pad."

She turned on her heels and led them down to the first floor and across the hall. She opened a door and revealed Vol Turin. A single row of bricks seperated the staircase from the slide.

She picked up a padded mat from a pile in the corner and sat on it in front of the slide.

"You just grab a pad and push off," she said right before launching herself down the slide.

"Wheeeeeeee," echoed her voice from the stones long after she was lost to sight due to the curves in the slide.

Lleld was waiting at the bottom. She had already put her mat in a pile of other mats waiting to be taken back up.

"I love doing that," she said when the others arrived at the bottom, "only problem is we have to climb the stairs if we want to do it again."

The walls in this lower, older section of the Keep had ancient runes all over the place. Though, for some odd reason, the only stretch of corridor that led away from the landing area, did not have the usual coldfire lighting the way.

Lleld said, "This way," and started walking down it.

As soon as she stepped foot in it, runes running along the bottom of the walls and on each side of the floor lit up. Their blue glow provided adaquate lighting.

"Those," Lleld pointed at the glowing runes, "are only one of the ancient mysteries we have yet to solve down here."

OOC: As they aren't online right now, we'll have to assume the others came along.

The Dwarf from earlier pops out of a side tunnel. His sudden appearance makes Lleld jump.

With a hand on her chest, she says, "Please don't do that again, Egraz."

"Sorry, m'lady," replies the Dwarf.

From the tunnel that Egraz the Dwarf had emerged from, Eragon's voice rang out, "But you do have to admit it was slightly funny, Lleld. You nearly jumped two times your height."

He stepped out where the group could see him. He had a wry smile on his face.

Flabbergasted, Lleld stammers, "But how..how did..how.."

"'How did I get in front of you?'"

Lleld nods.

Eragon's human eye takes on an amused glint, "There are secrets about this place that you don't know, Lleld. I used on of them to get down here," he turns to Egraz and asks, "Now what did you want to show me, Egraz?"

"Right this way," replies the Dwarf as he sets of down the main tunnel.

Several minutes later...

The group emerges from the tunnel into a vast, underground chamber. Various beings can be seen running around with various tools. They had reached the digs.

"That is what I wanted to show you, Dragonlord Eragon," Egraz says while pointing at the far side of the cavern.

Eragon looks in the direction Egraz is pointing and gasps. A massive door had been uncovered. A split ran down the middle and along one side of the crest (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b140/SFShadowPhoenix/Wallpapers/symbol.gif) in the middle. Part of the crest was partially worn away due to time.

"That crest," mumbles Eragon, "what is that doing here."

Lillel had been observing the runes, and hadn't even noticed the dwarf popping up. As she studied them, commiting them to memory for evaluation and comparision to her knowladge of ancient and dead languages.

She noticed the others leaving and followed, puzzling over the runes.
All of a sudden a proverbial light appeared over her head, "I've got it, Luminus." She exclaimed.

"Huh?" inquires Egraz the Dwarf when he hears Lillel's statement.

"That crest," says Eragon, "is the crest my family used. That was back before I was aware of the Draconic side to me."

Eragon walks over to the door. Lleld follows a few meters behind.

A few minutes later...

Reaching the door. The group stops while Eragon studies it.

Another Dwarf comes up and says, "We haven't been able to open, sir. We've even tried explosives, no luck."

Eragon nods his understanding. He steps up to the door and places his hand on it. The area around his hand starts to pulse. Slowly, the surface of the door changes from a rock-like look to a material that glints metalic in the light. The new look spreads out from the area around Eragon's hand in the final pulse. After the change occurs, the crystal in the crest begins to glow.

Stepping back, Eragon said, "Frankly, I have no idea. The last time I saw my family's crest was long before the Battle at the Black Gates and the Fall of the Black Tower at the end of the Third Age."

He reaches for the crystal in the lower middle of the design. When he touched it. It started to pulsate and glow. In response, a smaller version of the crest Eragon wore as a pendant rose up and floated in the air, its own crystal glowing and pulsating in sync with that of the larger. Eragon took hold of his pendant and touched it to the crystal. The contact was fleeting, but it was enough. Their was a slight vibration and dust fell from the ceiling. The massive doors began to slide apart.

Lleld called up a handfull of coldfire to provide some light. She hung back, cautious. Eragon, however, boldly strode across the threashold. It was as if he was drawn by something. He stopped in front of a pillar barely visible in the gloom. He removed the crest pendant from around his neck and placed it in a socket on the top of the pedastool. As he did, a variation of the Luminos runes that were located in strategic places in the giant room began to glow. These Luminos runes were modified to provide spotlight illumination in a single direction only. Meanwhile, several standard Luminos runes lit up and brought the room to a day-light like brightness. Partly covered by catwalks and supports, a device (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b140/SFShadowPhoenix/Models/vh_mod_179.jpg) stood against the far wall.

Lleld whistled, "Another of the Ancients' mechs. Only its the first two-legged model I know of."

Eragon said, without turning around, "It is the only they built, Lleld. Didn't you see the crest on the door? Some how, someone from my family came here during the time of the Ancestors and ran all this," he looked a small door in one of the side walls.

The small door also had his family crest caved into it, but it wasn't as big as the main door. Lleld jogged over to it and inspected it.

"Looks like your standard door," she called as she tried to open it, "but I can't figure out how you open it."

Eragon reached down and traced some of the runes inscribed their. It was an almost instictive motion. The runes he traced glowed briefly, and the door Lleld was trying to force slid open. She fell flat as she lost her balance. She sat up and shook her head before glaring at Eragon.

"Warn me the next time you're going to try something," she exclaimed.

She got no closer than one meter to where Eragon lay, as sparks of some form of energy lept from him to near-by sections of the floor.

Several minutes later...

The sparking energy around Eragon died down. Once it did, his eyes opened. He sat up and shook his head, trying to clear it.

"Okay," he groaned as he leaned back against the wall, "I'm feeling a little woozy."

Lleld asked, "Any idea what happened to you?"

"I think," he replied, "that the crystal transferred its knowledge to me. Those crystals, the one on the wall over there and the one on the main door both felt alive when I touched them."

Lleld said, "Sounds plausible. But what about the energy that was arching around you preventing anyone from getting close?"

"Look at the crystal," Eragon said.

The indicated crystal was dim. It wasn't glowing as brightly as it had first had or as much as the one on the main door was.

"Looks like it expended much of its energy," Lleld said, she turned her head to face Eragon, "You aren't suggesting it transferred that power to you, are you?"

The mech was designed to be used in a war against invaders from another plane of reality," he puts his hand on the edge of the console and props himself up to a standing position, "they never got a chance to launch. For, as quickly as they had come, the invading forces vanished. All the equipment they had left behind was transferred to storage vaults deep underground for later study. That was 5,000 years before I arrived on this island as the first Dragonlord," he smiles slightly as he plops himself into an empty chair, "that skeleton is of the last watchman for this place. He was willingly sealed in here to guard it. He wasn't able to leave anyways, as he was created by the crystals to speak for them. Each crystal is not alive itself," he pauses for breath, "but only part of a larger crystaline creature. This creature is able to control parts of itself that are no longer attached to the main body."

Nephil's (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/Kvess/Mechs/mech0.jpg), Lillel's (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/Kvess/Mechs/devilstar-mech.jpg), and Arioa's (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y131/Kvess/Mechs/walker.gif) mechs were displayed.

"Each mech," chimed the Silicon Avatar, "was choosen for each of you based on your personality. Lillel, yours has a flame-thrower, so you'll never need to feel cold again; Loki, your mech is small and lightly armed; Havoc, the mech you are destined for has no built in weapons, but has heavy armor and can use the shotgun-style weapon that can be stored with clamps on the back; Chaos, your mech, though only having two weapons, is extremely agile and should be able to go almost anywhere; Nephil, the mech you have will allow you to protect your friends and family; Arioa, you got a mech armed with a stun cannon."

"Correct, little lady," chimed the Avatar, "To get to the mech bay where they all are physically, you will have to go downwards."

In the tunnel below Eragon made a third ball of coldfire that he could move with his hand like a lamp. Near the bottom of the ramp was a sign written in an ancient version of the Saurian foot-print alphabet.

Ahh-choo!

Lleld's sneeze echoed around the confines of the corrider.

"I hate the dust," she groaned.

The corrider had not been used in so long that the floor was covered with a thick blanket of dust. In the section they were in, it was high enough just to get on top of Lleld's boots, and it only got deeper in.

"We'll need something to filter the air before we can get any deeper," agreed Eragon, "We could teleport in, but then I would need a visualization of where we were going. Without one, we could end up inside a wall."

"I can see some problems with both plans," Lleld says, "Lillel, this wind idea of yours would be great, if there was someplace for the dust to blow to. As for your idea of floating over it, Loki, not all of us can levitate ourselves. Those who are of Air can create spheres of Air they can ride on, but that would disrupt the dust more than walking through it would."

"I have an idea," said Eragon, "How about we use water to soak the dust. Wet dust doesn't become air-borne and isn't as 'fluffy' as this."

"But you would need someone who is of Water," chimed the chunk of the Avatar floating over Eragon's left shoulder.

Cracking his knuckles, Eragon said, "I think I can control the Water in the air well enough to make it ankle-deep for Lleld. That should damp down the dust."

He closes his eyes and concentrates. The moisture in the air becomes more and more concentrated as he pulls more in from outside the corridor. Soon, a fog cloud formed inside the corrider. The cloud began to condense and concentrate at floor level. Eventually, it became a layer of water that would reach up to Lleld's ankles at its deepest point.

Opening his eyes, Eragon said, jokingly, "I hope everyone's foot-wear is water proof."

"Actually," Eragon said, "I've never been down here before. I'm just going off the memories imparted to me by that crystal earlier in the control booth."

The group started to walk through the still lingering bits of mist.

"If I'm not mistaken," Lleld said, "I would think that the air down here should be staler if nobody's been down here in so long."

"The air in this corrider was recycled by the Silicon Avatar. However, the Mech Bay itself lies beyond the Avatar's influence, so prepared for some 'bad air' when we reach it."

Half-hour later...

The group had reached the door to the Mech Bay. Unlike earlier doors, this one was composed of two halves. Each half slid aside so a being could walk between them.

"I hope you can all hold your breath long enough for the Bay to air out," grunted Eragon as he stuck his hands between the two halves of the door and tried to force them open, "a little help would be nice. I think they rusted together."

Don't you recall the state Saka was in after she teleported the group from The Transylvania and herself from Fair Haven to the top of this mountain?"

After a few minutes of struggling with the stubborn door, it finally came open and slid part way into their recesses. The doors had indeed rusted shut and there was so much rust that they could only be opened wide enough for one person at a time. Lleld fell foward when the door popped open. She stood up and stepped back while coughing in her sleeve.

He slipped through the doors and Lleld came after him. Eragon reached for a rectangular piece of crystal that was sticking out next to the left side of the door. When he took hold of it, a few dim lights came on-line.

"Looks like most of the lights need to be recharged," he said.

Amoung the few lights that contained a light charge, were a few spotlights illuminating some of the mechs. Amoung the lit mechs were the ones that the Silicon Avatar had provided keys to.
