Magda saw the display and wondered over to where it was going on, there was a faint figure hidden by coloured smoke.
The flames shifted as Magda drew near.

"Vendui. Vel'uss ph' dos?"

Then, on further thought, it appeared in Common underneath the flame-wrought Drow letters.

"Hello. Who are you?"

'I am Magda, I was here to see the prince, but he is already chosen his bride' she said smiling at the man.

'..who are you?' she asked.

The flames again shifted.

"There are no Kaymirilian princes anymore. Are you talking about Princess Dora'nes's fiance?"

"I am called Phish."

'Hi Phish' she said.

'Yes..thats the prince' she said smiling.

'what are you doing?' she asked, moving a little closer.

The previous firey letters cleared away, to be replaced by new ones.

"Magick. I am an elemental mage of fire."

Magda was confused.
'whats all this about?' she asked shaking her head.

"Magick? Have you no mages in your land?"

Cougar had been watching from the side,"The answer to that question would appear obvious, Phish"

'No...I dont know what they are...my country is very...violent, they have no time for magic' she said quietly sitting down on the cool grass, in her white dress.

The firey letters disappeared, and Phish's head turned to Cougar.

While his clothing didn't tell whether he was male or female, his voice quickly identified him as a man.

"Hey, kiddo...your country is just as weird for the most part. And I'm sorry about your nation *to Magda* ...but we even have mages for war. It is too...stunning a concept to find a nation with no magick."

Cougar shrugged,"Oddity is in the eye of the beholder, like so many things"

'I suppose they must just be hidden away' she said smiling at Phish.

Flames shot up out of the ground, taking the shape of a chair, and Phish took a seat.

"I take care of the Red Class of mage -- the Pyromancers. We deal with fire, and I look after everyone. Big job. 'Wife'...no...I've got my work. Loved one? Heck, all my students are like children to me. My Chosen is like my son."

'I had better be going...I need to bathe' she said, getting up bowing and walking back into the building.

Magda went inside and went to her room and showered, she sat out on the balcony looking down, wondering what she would become.

Phish makes a sort of good-bye guesture to Magda before turning to Cougar.

"You don't count as a Pyromancer, kiddo. Last I checked, you learned your magick elsewhere."

"Maybe so, but you can't deny it's got something vaguely fire-like about it"

"But it doesn't flow like fire does. It doesn't burn with the same intensity...and it is not as malleable."

Magda wandered back down and out into the garden she sat under the tree and basked in the sun, looking at the two men occassionally.

"You always stop at what you think your limits are...everyone does, at first. I tell you truly...if that was what any of us could do, magick would be purposeless. I'd have to light matches like everyone else does to get a single spark. Limitations are to be overcome...not stopped at."

Cougar shrugged,"There you go. I've got a long time yet"

After a while Magda got bored and decided to go back and speak to Cougar & Phish, she sat down and listened in on their philosophical chatter.

The cloud spawned a pair of chairs for them to sit upon. Warfare would only sit when Magda did.

There is the distinctive clang of swords in the courtyard, as two Drow men face off. One is a wiry (but muscular) 5'7'', rather tall for a Drow, and the other is a towering 5'9". They move with the speed and grace of vipers as sword meets sword in combat.

Cougar looked around,"Yes, it would be a shame to damage such beautiful gardens with a miscast. Anyway, you say first strike?"

Cougar closed his eyes for a moment, and when he opened them, all he could see was White Flame, roaring in front of him. Phish was just a dark outline in the Flame, like everything else when Cougar was like this. Without thinking, his hand came up, and fired a single blast, packed with energy

Phish deflects the blast skywards, then launches a thread of flame at Cougar.

Cougar saw the danger, and brought up his hand, trying to absorb the thread as he did so. He managed it, partially, before the power overwhelmed him and knocked him backwards. The one he had managed to absorb shot out from his other hand, White Flame looped round it

The men continued battling, almost faster than the eye could see, only slowing when they locked blades, but that only ever lasted for a few moments before they were moving again.

The sparring match ended, and the two men walked to the other end of the courtyard, chatting amicably. After cleaning their swords and attending to any nicks and/or dents, they resheathed them, and continued to discuss the match.

The man took the picture and looked at it. Up close, he had red eyes and long-ish white hair. His face bore scars of battles past, and there were callouses on his hands. His companion was much the same, save he had a sharper face and vivid green eyes, and to the side of his head fell a small braid.

The first man looked at Magda, then at his friend. "It is a very good sketch..." They both stood and made a bow. "Gre'as'anto lu' verve dro."

Cougar stood up, and brought up a shield that he had been working on before he had gone to the River. It utilised three layers of protection, all of which constently revolved and overlapped, making it especially hard to break through, or so he hoped. The blast impacted on the front, and seperated, going all around him, but not going near him

A firey wind started blowing around Cougar, gaining energy as it moved, pressing inward.

'Yeah I am here for that' she said smiling.

'I am Magda, from Serafima' she said, straightening out her pink long dress, it defined her bronze skin.

"I am Haldosir, my companion is Rildorath, both of Kaymiril."

H -- Fencing is done exclusively with sabers and foils. Broadswords are ill-equipped for it. But we do spar often...there aren't really any other swordsmen of our caliber in Kaymiril.

Haldosir and Rildorath stood and walked out of the courtyard, perfectly in step without thinking about it. They are joined by a third man, whom they greet warmly.

Magda sat there reading, thinking no more of the guards, she knew they would never like, just see her as a spoilt princess with more money than sense

The day before the coronation had ended. Anna left the rest of the guests, and walked down into the deepest, darkest, most secret area of the Valshanth.

There were trials she had to face before she could ascend.

The Queens of the past would judge her...this would be perhaps the most nerve-wracking night of her life.

First she came to her mother.

"Gre'as'anto lu' verve dro, ilhar," she said, giving her mother that slight bow.

The old queen merely tossed her daughter a staff, before taking up one herself.

"The weapon you selected as your own is based off both sword -- an instrument of death, and a staff -- an instrument of guidance. With your beliefs in the world, with what you know...with what you want to do, will you change your mind?"

A -- "I will guide my people as their sovreign. The staff never did any harm to those who were not struck by it, and I shall not strike the undeserving. But at the same time, as we step out, we must not be caught unprepared to strike down those that would try to conquer us."

KVI -- "You know the ways of our ancestors...the ancient traditions that we left behind so many centuries ago. To pass this part of your trial...you must defeat me in single combat."

A -- *Raising her staff* "The symbolic death of the old Matron of the House so the new one can ascend."

KVI -- *Likewise raising her staff* But only if you are stronger than I.

The part of the floor on which they are standing rises to 100 feet above the rest of the floor, toward the ceiling that appeared to never come into existence. To fall from that height would be almost certain death.

Whirling her staff, Anna went in for a strike, which her mother countered. Back and forth they fought for the better part of half an hour, before Anna sent her mother's staff flying. Both women stood there a moment, their breathing ragged. Far below, the staff clatters to the ground, shattering.

A -- "I have defeated you, ilhar. Yield."

In response to this, the queen pulls out a knife, and lunges at her daughter with it. Out of sheer reflex, Anna snaps up one end of her staff, to knock the knife out of her mother's hand, and then whirls it around the other way, bringing the other end down on the back of her mother's head. The old queen drops to her knees.

A -- "Yield."

KVI -- "You have passed this test. Go on...I will see you in the morning."

The catwalk lowered back into the ground as Anna walked past her mother, on to the next test.

She came to three doors, which read as thus:

"Desire? Did I ever desire this? No...and what I do desire is not the path that I must walk. Deserve...not traditionally. This last path then, is all that is left...and yes, there are risks in leadership."

Those mustings behind her, she opened the last door, and started walking.

She eventually crosses a path of shadow to find two ghostly figures standing in her path. She makes a bow. "Vendui, ilhars."

KV -- "You are the one that would leave the path set for us by our ancestors? Why?"

A -- "The time has come that Kaymiril stepped out of the shell that it established for itself and embraced the larger vision that Kaymiril l' Zhennu had for it. She surely wouldn't have wanted us to remain isolated forever. Until his death, her first husband was human."

KIV -- "And Nienna was not able to claim the throne. You would allow our people to mix with the humans, to interbreed with them, to dilute our nation's blood with what equates for blood in their veins, to allow science and technology to make magick obsolete. You would share in their hardships, and know what it is to suffer."

A -- "I am keeping our culture from growing stagnant. When a nation ceases to be innovative, when a nation stops growing in knowledge and abilities, then the people may live, but their spirits will die. Magick always will be important in Kaymiril, it is among the deepest tenants we have, but we need to embrace the new...the innovative. That is what I want for my reign...and that, the humans can help us with."

KV -- "And should your choices bring doom to your nation? Humans are warlike, wretched, always looking for a weakling...always looking to conquer. They will see you newly on your throne, with little support yet from the noble houses, and they will strike you, like the insects they are."

A -- "Then I am grateful to have seen the good in them, and made allies before enemies. Mothers...I will not fail this nation. I cannot fail this nation, for I will strive for nothing but its good."

There was something about Anna...something sincere...something powerful...that prevented the old queens from saying anything more.

KV -- "Should you fail, dalhar...your afterlife will be the most wretched of any Kaymirilian yet."

They disappeared.

Anna continued on, carefully now, as these floors were old. There was an odd sort of mist here, and it just kept thickening. Two figures joined her on her walk.

"Vendui, ilhars."

KII -- This is the next...she looks rather young.

KIII -- Only eighty...the last one was a full century before she walked these halls. Is our country safe in the hands of one so young?

KII -- She had a child already...and she will not marry for four days yet. Is her resolve strong enough to run a nation as large as this if her resolve is not so strong as to prevent such a thing?

KIII -- She will never leave these halls alive.

Anna could hear their musings...it was meant as such. The confidence she'd felt in the previous chamber was wavering.

A -- What if...what if they're right...what if I can't do this?

She pauses, contemplating, not sure whether it would be better to turn back now or continue on. Was she even fit to be Queen? Dora' was the elder twin...Dora' was strong. Was Dora' a better choice for Queen? She'd always been the weak one...always the one to fail first...Dora' had only ever failed once.

But Dora' will give up some times...and I never have before. My mother chose me to be her successor...and that means that I can do it...no...not only I can do it, I must.

"Ilhars, your doubts are misplaced. Doubt not whether I can rule your country...doubt whether the sun rises."

Straightening up, she strode on out of their domain.

KII -- She passed that one more swiftly than any other.

KIII -- She has also had more experience with the outside world.

They, too, vanished.

Anna strode on, to the final room of the trial. She saw a ghostly figure hovering in the middle of the room. Her long white hair floated everywhere, and her chin was down, her eyes were closed. As Anna stepped in, her head raised and her eyes snapped open, capturing Anna's gaze.

Whether or not she wanted to, Annastrianna d' Maril would not be able to drop that gaze...that penetrating, judging gaze...

H -- "She has not come out yet, my Queen...but there is no body at either end."

"Warfare, do you have a moment?"

"I have several minuets." Warfare said.

"Sorry to take away your company, Cougar, but...if you could walk with me, Warfare..."

"Something seems to be on your mind, what is it?" Warfare asks.

"Something is on its way to happening...something monumental...something sinister. Have you felt it? And do you or any of your followers know what it is?"

"Monumental and sinister things happen all the time. Why should one more be any diffrent? I know what your saying though, I myself have felt it, and I've been deluged with Prayers on a daily basis I just can't answer asking the same thing you're asking, but I don't know what it is, so I simply cannot respond. Yesterday before I arrived, I was in Paradise all alone and I gave a prophecy concerning it, but prophect is not a major skill of mine, and I could not remeber what I said, I know I said something, but could not call anyone over to take down what I was saying, and the prophecy was lost.

You should take Plak'la...he could find your prophecy well enough. I have my Chosen scanning the 12th plane as we speak, attempting to find it. She says there is a trail...but she cannot work her way along it fast enough to find the source of the disturbance.

"Hey that's a good Idea, where is Plak'la anyway?" Warfare asked.

"He's around here somewhere. I don't bother to keep track of him anymore...last time I tried, he'd just seek refuge in different moments in time. He'll either be in the gardens or in our room."

"Well, let me see. I know Plak'la is a time mage, so all I have to do is..." Warfare trails off. He closes his eyes, still keeping in step with T'puuli and avoiding objects and people. He looks for two things, in two places. One is Plak'la himself directly, and the other is for temporal anomalies disapearing and reapearing at the same time. A phenominom commonly associated with Temporal magic.

Warfare would sense the ability to use Fieros in one of the aristocrats he passed, but then he found Plak'la, in the room he shared with T'puuli.

Warfare smiled to himself, it had to be Renor, only two mortals had it, and Cougar had no reason to hide, and in fact Warfare had just left him. He knew the black class preferred to be unnoticed. He wouldn't spill any secrets.

"He's in your rooms. Shall we go?" Warfare asked.

T'puuli nods. "He's probably worn himself down a little. It's been some time since he's been here, and so he probably went to see what's happened in the places he prefers."

Warfare follows T'puuli to her room, and waits outside for Her to get Plak'la.

T'puuli heads in, and a few moments later, Plak'la heads out.

"She said you wanted me?"

"She said you could help me retrieve a prophecy I gave a yesterday morning in paradise. I cannot remember any prophecy I give, unless I read it, but I can't write them down as I give them either." Warfare said.

"I probably could...it's not like it's difficult to find a recent moment in the past. The future's a touch more difficult..."

"Yes, but the future is never certain until it happens." Warfare says. Hecracks his knuckles, and as he does, reality ripples, and Plak'la finds himself standing in the same area Warfare was at when he gave Prophicy.

"Roughly how long ago was this incident?"

Almost exactly 36 hours ago, standered earth time.

Warfare casts a spell. Plak'la would feel as though he were sliding down a very big, very long slide. Blue energy surrounded them, and they were back at the Valshanth, outside Plak'la's room.

"If T'puuli isn't asleep, perhaps she would be intrested in seeing my Prophecy." Warfare says as he copies down the prophecy to give to Plak'la. Warfare rolls up the origanile, and tucks it in a pocket that was not there previously, and disappeared quickly.

Warfare walked away from from Plak'la and sat on a nearby bench. thinking about what the prophecy could mean.

Plak'la takes the prophecy and shows it to T'puuli, who looks at it.

"Minor Armegeddon...lovely."

P -- What?

T -- Minor Armegeddon...basically, a semblance of hell is unleashed for a short time, and the forces of "good" and "evil" duke it out until one wins, and then to the victor go the spoils. *She shrugs* Takes a mortal to pull the trigger, though...that's the catch. And those mortals that pull the trigger...are going to die very horribly...as the gods' first sacrifices.

Warfare walked off. Waiting for Anna's Coronation.
