I am brodcasting today from our new Fort in Chayanne Mnt. It is here that you will all come if we ever must surender our lands. But that will never happen. As of 1300 I passed into law that mandates all homes have at least two firearms, and that all citizens over the age of 17 will join in local civil defense corps that will train at regular times. We also wish to extend our hand in peace to all who wish it."

"Governor Barcas, a message for you from the capital." The aide handed Governor-General Juan Pancho de las Barca a piece of paper, emblazoned with the seal of the Ministry of Defense.

Barcas took the paper and set it on his desk. He set down his cup of coffee and reached for his reading glasses. Once he'd put them on, he picked the message back up and started reading.

Governor-General Barcas,

It has come to our attention that a new state calling itself Colorado and Texas has arisen in the central part of the continent. Throughout the area, our satellites have picked up signs of fighting. There even appears to be some naval engagement near the Texas coast. I want you to send 5th Fleet to investigate, and if possible, moderate the situation. The usual strictures apply. Separate orders have been dispatched to Admiral Perry at Port Royal Naval Base, but I wanted to give you a heads-up to the situation. Inform Admiral Perry that he is not to attack any foreign vessel unless first fired upon. After that, he has the full permission of the Emperor, the Under-Secretary of the Navy, and myself to engage and eliminate anything he sees as a threat.

Ottoman authorities in Cuba have been informed of our actions, so there is no need to worry about upsetting our friends there.

Good day,
Henry Nagara
Minister of Defense

"Well, this is interesting," Barcas muttered before dismissing his aide and making the necessary phone calls.

***

Fifth fleet was an impressive group of ships, consisting of two Carrier Battle Groups. As the warships of the Royal Navy sped north through the blue water, a message was broadcast to all ships in the vicinity of the Texas coast.

To Whom It May Concern:
It has come to the attention of the Imperial Commonwealth of Malkyer that there has been some sort of naval battle in the Gulf of Mexico. I have dispatched the Fifth Fleet from the Viceroyalty of the Carribean in order to investigate the situation and if possible, mediate a solution. I have ordered our vessels to treat others as neutral; if this attitude is not reciprocated, then there will be reprecussions. It is my sincerest hope that the Fleet will be able to restore peace to this part of the world, and I ask that you aid them in that endeavor.

Sincerely,
Juan Pancho de las Barcas

The phone on the bridge of the carrier HMS Hermosillo rang. A young ensign answered, listened for a moment, and then put his hand over the receiver. Turning to the Admiral, he said "Admiral, it's Captain Owensford."

"Ah, thank you, Ensign. I'll take that." He took the phone from the young man, who promptly returned to his station. "Perry."

"Admiral, this is Joshua. I'm calling to let you know that as of yet no one has responded to our hails."

"Hmm. What do you make of that? Are they ignoring us?"

"I doubt it, sir. I don't think it'd be much of an exaggeration to say that this fleet has about as much firepower as their whole nation. You just don't ignore something like that."

"You are broadcasting on all channels, yes?" He waited for the affirmation, then said "Well, give them a little more time. If there is an intense fight, they could be thinking of other things at the moment." An understatement. Anyone who got distracted in battle quite frequently found themselves dead. "How much time until we make visual contact with them?" Owensford's ship, the destroyer Indomitable, was in the lead, and he would be the first to actually see what was happening.

"About an hour at the very most, sir."

"Excellent. Keep me posted."

"Aye, aye, sir." The was a click as Owensford hung up his phone. Perry set the receiver down, and returned his gaze to the blue expanse of the Gulf.

OOC: I'll RP as him, if you don't mind..

Just before the frigates of the Boulder fleet went down to the deep, they managed to scream a mayday into the radio room of the "flagship." Able, before they took the final plunge, to throw the mayday and the distress call over five different channels, they hoped that their call for help would reach someone. They lept to the sea, unaware that they would be slaughtered as they hit the water. All but one, however, the Lieutenant Delew McFerson.

The newly appointed Colonel Asther stood over a table in Boulder, Colorado. A map of the region was rolled out.

"We've lost naval superiority.." said one of his assistants. "Frigates were sunk by the Colorado and Texas government a little while ago. No survivors, as far as we can tell."

The colonel nodded.

"Send out an all-call. Inform the populace that should tensions and war continue, an act of conscription will be put into place and the citizens shall be called up to defend their families, their homes, and their freedoms. Meanwhile, tell them to pray that peace should come.."

Unknown to the Colonel, as the Lieutenant was being beaten and abused in the Texan prisons, an embassy was sent out. Ms. McClure set out towards the domains of the Texans, to see if they could end this war.

Meanwhile, the Colonel stood before a group of women and men of various colors - excluding white, of course. "Women, brothers of the disenfranchised! The Texans bear down on us with their military weight, and try to re-establish the rule of the white overlord! It falls upon your shoulder to take up the rifle to defend the sovereignty of womankind and those abused in the years past by the white man! Should the ignorant Texan men, dumb as apes, reject our preposition for peace and prosperity, we will be forced to show them the fury of womankind!"

Cheering, the Colonel had only hoped it wouldn't come to that..

Captain Owensford smiled as the radar began to show blips where the other ships were. Finally, someone might respond to their call.

OOC [Out of Character]: I assume you're talking about me when you refer to "that nice fleet over there." Just to let you know, I can't respond to a hailing message you didn't send. As soon as the message was finished Owensford relayed it to Admiral Perry, who promptly responded.

"This is Admiral Daniel Perry of the Royal Navy of Malkyer. My ships have been disptached to observe exactly what is going on out here. You see, all of a sudden our satellites picked up a naval battle in the Gulf of Mexico, which until now has been a peaceful area in the strategic rear of the Viceroyalty of the Carribean. Naturally, we were a little worried, and so the Fifth Fleet has been sent to observe, and if necessary, intervene and restore peace to the region.

I assure you, we mean no harm to either you or your nation, but we would like to know what is going on. I believe one of my destroyers, the Indomitable, is already within within sight of your ships. If you require aid, please let us know. Over." He set down the receiver and waited for a response.

He chuckled a little. This people sure had guts, he had to admit. Official business, he thought. I think she was on the verge of telling me to get the hell out of here. They weren't afraid to tell bigger nations to back off, and if they didn't kill themselves off during this civil war of theirs, that would make them a force to be reckoned with in the Carribean. Unless they encroached on Malkyer's territory, at which point they would be eliminated.

He could now see the glinting of multiple ships in the distance, probably whatever fleet these Texans had assembled.

The destroyer Indomitable pulled alongside the UCT Republican. The weapons were all ready, but the various gun crews waited outside their guns, so as to appear less threatening. It didn't really matter, as the entire Fifth Fleet was close behind and would annihilate these Texans if they attacked. The carriers Repulse and Darwin had already put squadrons of planes into the air to patrol and observe.

As the Indomitable settled alongside the other ship, a gangplank was put across in between the two vessels. Captain Owensford and two other officers walked across the plank until they reached the other ship. They could see weapons in the hands of the foreigners, and bodies floating in the water. Owensford stifled a sneer. Sloppy work, he thought.

He looked around for the captain. "Permission to come aboard, ma'am?"

Owensford almost frowned, but not quite, at this breech of custom. The Owensfords were an old military familiy in Malkyer, and took tradition and custom seriously. However, he decided to let it slide, as this nation was young, and because of that even the senior officers would be inexperienced.

"Of course. I can assure that at the moment the Imperial Commonwealth means to harm neither you nor your nation, though next time you may want to be more careful when 'dumping garbage,'" he said, gesturing at the bullet-ridden bodies floating in the water. He sincerely hoped that this was an official conflict between armies. Malkyer did not take kindly to the persecution of dissidents, and Owensford was not in the mood for a fight today.

The two black-clad soldiers came forward, and the three Malkyeri officers spread their arms to be searched. The two junior officers each carried a pistol, but Owensford was unarmed.

Specifically, my superiors want me to inquire as to exactly what is going on here in the Gulf, and on the continent itself. You see, the Imperial Commonwealth is nervous about a conflict in our strategic rear which has sprung up quickly and without warning. Until a few days ago, this region of the world was quite stable and uneventful." He paused, and waited for an answer.

My advice is to finish this business of yours as soon as possible, and make sure it doesn't happen again. Good day, madam." Owensford tipped his hat in salute, and departed with the two junior officers.

As soon as they were back aboard the Indomitable, Owensford phoned Admiral Perry onboard the command carrier.

"Aye, sir. Something is going on that they aren't telling us. My two cents? I would contact the RIA or Military Intelligence, and try to contact these 'bandits' of theirs. I see. Aye, aye sir." He hung up the phone.

"Do you think they're trying to monitor our communications?"

"Perhaps. It doesn't matter if they are; all of our comms are encrypted. Mr. Long, please inform the Admiral of this development. I don't like this situation one bit, but he is the superior officer. Let me know what he wants us to do."

Gunner's Mate Second Class Calvin Sheperd climbed out of the gun turret once the all-clear was sounded as the Indomitable moved away from the Texan ships. He walked over to the railing at the side of ship and leaned over, taking in a deep breath of the salty air. He looked back at the foreign ships, and wondered what the hell was going on. He could see them pulling bodies out of the water...Bandits, my ass, he thought. Then he though he saw something move in the water in between the Indomitable and the Texan ships. It was hard to tell, because the destroyer was moving away fast to rejoin the fleet, but it looked like...yes, it was a person, in the water, frantically swimming away from the Texans. "Shit," Sheperd muttered to himself. "Chief! There's someone in the water back there!"

Chief Petty Officer Harlan Ward ran up to Sheperd. "Where?"

"Right there," said the younger man, pointing.

"Oh hell. Run tell the captain to slow 'er down." As soon as Sheperd was away, Ward started yelling "Man overboard! Man overboard!" Grabbing two other sailors and telling them to come with him, he grabbed a life-ring and headed to the destroyer's fastboat, lashed onto the railing at the aft of the starboard side. Quickly, the three men detached the smaller boat and sped toward the person in the water. Behind them, they could hear a groaning sound as the Indomitable came to a full stop much faster than it was meant to.

When they reacher the man, they saw it wasn't a man at all, but a woman. She was badly burned, and wounded with numerous splinters. "Shit," said Ward. He and another of the sailors pulled her aboard, while the third turned the fastboat around and headed back toward the destroyer.

When they reached it, several crewmen helped to get the woman on board. Captain Owensford was already on deck. "The infirmary has been notified. Take her there." He looked down at her, and saw the burns and wounds. "Hurry, now, she's in bad shape," he said, and walked along with the two sailors who carried her on a stretcher to the infirmary. "Don't worry miss, you're safe now."

In the infirmary, Owensford looked on as the medical officer and a nurse tended to the unconcious woman.

"Get her on some morphine," ordered the MedOf, Daniel Hargrave. The nurse complied, and an IV was set up, alongside the one containing a saline drip. He turned to CPO Ward, who was also in the room. "What was it she said before she blacked out?"

"'Man may not touch women,' or something like that," Ward responded. "I suppose we should question her when she wakes up?"

"Of course," replied Owensford. "Chief, would you go and find Lieutenant Guiseppe? I think, given her...attitudes, that she may take better to being interrogated by a women, and the Lieutenant is the highest ranking female officer on board. I want her to be the only one in the room when our guest wakes up. Mr. Hargrave, keep her doped enough so that she doesn't try anything...foolish. The submarineRMV Contraband is coming into the Gulf of Mexico on a regular patrol when the Intelligence Officer walks onto the bridge and begins talking to the Captain.

"Sir, we've picked up a incident that's either scary or quite funny. It seems a large fleet has been in a standdown with some rednecks with a 50cal. based off of a sub. Hell, we can take out the whole redneck fleet with relative ease, but we've been ordered by central intel to go and observe the situation. We don't want to see a war in this area, could destabilize some of our other interests."

The captain took his 9mm Beretta out of it's place and inserted a clip. "Have the gun crews move to their condition blue stations, we'll go look, but if they fire on us we'll burn every copy of the Dukes of Hazard we can find."

The Intelligence officer chuckeled.

Owensford arched an eyebrow as the knife clattered to the floor. "Fiesty ones, aren't they?" He chuckled. Hearing the door open, he turned around. Lieutenant First Class Angelina Guiseppe stood in the door, and saluted. Owensford returned the salute, and said, "Lieutenant, we're leaving you to do the interrogation. Our friend seems quite jumpy around men, so I think it'd be best if we had some women handle it. We'll tie down her arms and legs, just as a precaution. If you need anything, we'll be right outside the door."

Angelina saluted again. "Aye, aye sir." With that, the MedOf tightened the restraints on the patient's arms and legs, and everyone except Angelina left the room, closing the door behind them. Outside, CPO Ward checked his sidearm to make sure a round was chambered, then flicked on the safety. Owensford unconciously ran a thumb over his pistol.

Inside, Angelia pulled up a chair and sat, waiting for the woman to wake up. Angelina was of Italian descent, and very pretty, with dark hair and an olive complexion. Crossing her legs, she leaned back in her chair and began reading a magazine from a basket by the MedOf's desk.

Meanwhile, Commander Cressy, the Second Mate, sauntered over to the sonar station. "What's new?"

"Not much, sir," the ensign replied without taking his eyes from the datascreen. "Some movement over in this area," he pointed to a couple of blips, "But the Darwin's air patrols haven't spotted anything. Jonesy said he thought he saw another submarine, for a second, but it was running deep and disappeared."

"Hmm...keep watching," Cressy said. The signals room had just phoned to report that more C&T ships were reported to be heading this way, including a carrier. This could still get ugly, he thought, and those Texans aren't encrypting their communications. Fools.

Owensford thought for a moment. "An unknown sub?"

"Aye, sir. One of the sonarmen spotted it earlier, but it disappeared soon after. We've also picked up strange activity beneath the Nixon. Something rising and falling periodically."

"Interesting. Helm, turn us around, bring us back to the Texan fleet. Alert the Fifth, request that they join us. Comm, broadcast this message, unencrypted, ELF [Extra-Low Frequency], I want to be sure they get it."

"About halfway between us and the fleet, sir," Cressy replied. Off to the side, a phone rang, and a young ensign answered it.

"Excellent. Contact Captain Freeman, and ask him to kindly bring his ship up off our portside. I wouldn't mind having a little back up in case those people do something stupid."

"Captain! Message from Admiral Perry." It was the sailor who'd answered the phone. "He says that he has been monitoring the communications between the Texan ships and he thinks they're up to something; just a few minutes they began sending coded messages for the first time today. He's coming over in a helicopter, says he'll be here in a few minutes."

"Mother Gaia? That's a load of..." Angelina, a devout Catholic, began to say, but stopped in mid-sentence when the injured woman passed out. She was coughing up blood, and breathing heavily. "Oh, shit," muttered Angelina. "Medical Officer! Mr. Hargrave, Mr. Hargrave, she's in trouble!"

The door burst open, and Hargrave stormed in, followed closely by CPO Ward, who had drawn his pistol. Seeing that there was no immediate danger to either the lieutenant or the MedOf, he holstered his weapon. Hargrave swore, and inserted a tube into the woman's mouth to open a passage for air. "You," he said, looking at Ward, "get the nurse." Ward nodded, and left.

A few minutes later, Ward returned with the nurse, who promptly took over monitoring the various datascreens from the MedOf. Hargrave sighed, and walked over to a sink to wash his hands. "She's stabilized, but I'm going to keep her under for a while more. She's beat up pretty bad, and I don't think interrogations are going to help her condition."

***

On the rear deck (http://www.obannon.navy.mil/helo_landing.jpg) of the Indomitable, Owensford and Cressy stood by the helipad, waiting as the Admiral's helicopter landed. When the Admiral disembarked, the two junior officers saluted. Perry returned the salute, and began walking with them to the bridge. His forehead glistened with sweat from the humidity. "Tell me, Captain, what do you make of the situation?" He knew that Owensford, being of an old military family, would likely have a very caustic appraisal of the situation.

"Sir, I don't think those Texans have quite grasped that our fleet alone has more than enough firepower to wipe their entire navy from the seas. Also, this unknown submarine beneath their carrier. It worries me. I think either side over their may do something stupid."

"Well, Captain, you know what we do then?"

"What, Admiral?"

"Interdiction," was the reply. Owensford raised an eyebrow. Interdiction was the policy of Malkyer dealing with 'insurgent' nations feared to threaten the stability of the Commonwealth's far-flung territories. In theory, it was only to be employed after an unprovoked hostile action by the offending nation. First, it was a warning. If the warning was not heeded, the offending nation's navy would be eliminated. Following that, a blockade of the coast. Then, a second warning was given, one which offered the chance for the smaller nation to escape the cessation of its existence by making compensation for any damage caused to the Imperial Comonwealth. If this warning was not heeded, one of two things would happen. Sans approval from the government, the blockade would continue. However, if His Majesty's Government approved, a ground invasion would commence, adding the offensive nation to the Imperial Commonwealth as a brand new Crown Colony.

"Interdiction, sir? Mightn't that be a little...excessive?" Owensford asked.

"Perhaps. But I imagine they'll listen to reason after the first couple of ships are destroyed," Perry responded with a calim voice.

The Holy Empire of Shazbotdom has decreed the following. The blatant assault on a nations soverignty is disgusting to the Holy Empire. We will overlook the situation again and then decide what course of action we will take. Until that time, we will place the 1st Company, 100th Division of the Shazbotdom Marine Corps and the 2nd Company, 199th Division of the Shazbotdom Marine Corps Special Forces on standby.

Contraband holds steady under the aircraft carrier, torpedo's locked.

"Get down to the special operations department and have one of our teams mount up for possible underwater insertion." the captain said while sipping on his tea.

Even if the enemy SEAL's did come down, Contraband could defeat them. One by lurging upward and crushing them, or possibly by luring them out to sea where the sub could surface and have a security detachment capture or kill them.

Or... a SpecOp's team from Contraband could be inserted to draw attention away from the sub, should the need arise....

Sirens went off all over the place. Marines rushed between room, down corridors and through the yard. Something big was going down and the base was on alert. Thousands of Mairnes flooded into their barracks. All the sudden the siren shut off. The Marines looked puzzled but within a minute, they spotted a vehicles driving up the road toward the base. A black limo.

Then all the sudden a voice came on over the intercom system within the base.

Voice: "Leaders of the Marine 1st Company, 100th Division and Special Operations 2nd Company, 199th Division report to breifing. That is all."

The marines looked around as the Black Limo pulled into a garage near the main building within the complex. It shut off, and the garage doors closed. No one knew what was going on, but they could tell it was someone important as it had the Flag of the Holy Empire flying from the 2 front corners. Could it be the Emporer, they thought to themselves, or is it the Minister of Defence, or the Minister of the Marines. No one knew at this point, but soon it was to unfold with this briefing.

Rockenbach: "Alright. Here is the situation. A nation that goes by the name of 'The Incorporated States of Colorado and Texas' is under an attack from The Nation of McKagan. Satelite Intel shows that McKagan has a total of 2 ships in the area: One sub, and one Destroyer."

Shaz Bot: "What i want you guys to do is to go aboard the 1st Havoc Naval Fleet and attempt to force this nation of McKagan out of the area. If he fails to comply, you will secure authorization from The Incorporated States of Colorado and Texas to land on his beaches."

Theod: "From there, you will set up a defensive perimiter along the closest shoreline to protect the section of their nation called Texas from any invasions. You will have a total of 500 of the AC-01 Pelican aircraft and 300 of the AC-02 Garrison aircraft. The Pelican can be used to launch air to air missiles against enemy targets or air to ground missiles against enemy troop deployments or naval vessels. The Garrison can be used to drop smart bombs or dumb bombs on enemy land vehicles."

Rockenbach: "Were also giving you 200 T-500 tanks to take care of any enemy armor that you run across, 100 of the WH-01 and WH-02 Warthog's to be used for vehicle to vehicle, or vehicle to person fightingand 50 of the WH-03 Transport Warthog and the AT-01 Jackhammer All Terrain Vehicle. The ATV can be used to scout ahead of you, as well as up and down the beach, and the WH-03 Warthog will be used to bring some troops in and out of fighting areas."

"Admiral, it appears that Shazbotdom has taken an interest in this little affair," said Commander Cressy, looking over the shoulder of a radarman.

Perry looked to the Second Mate of the Indomitable, then at Captain Owensford, and finally rested his gaze on the ships belonging to Colorado and Texas. The unknown submarine had surfaced, and moved into international waters. "McKagan, eh? Standing up to the Texan navy with one submarine. They've got balls, I'll give them that."

"Sir," began Owensford, "I'm afraid that there is a very real possibility that things could get out of hand. I think the McKagan sub will comply, but I don't expect those Texans to be entirely reasonable."

Before the Admiral could respond, the phone rang. Cressy answered it. He talked for a moment, and then hung up. "That was Medical Officer Hargrave. Our guest has died. Internal hemorrhagging, he thinks."

Silence settled on the bridge for a moment. Perry sighed. "Keep her body, for the moment. After this is done we will try to contact the Boulder leadership, and return her corpse. If we cannot, we will bury her at sea." Cressy nodded, and picked up the phone again, to call Hargrave.

Perry turned to Owensford. "I'm going back to the main fleet. I will bring them up here, to show that we are serious. When the fleet arrives, I will contact them and try to mediate the situation." He turned to leave. "Oh, and Captain. Contact the McKagan submarine. Let them know we don't want anything bad to come of this, but we think it best if they leave the Texans alone for the moment."

"Attention Unidentified Submarine. This Captain Owensford, of the HMS Indomitable. As we understand it, you are here on a peaceful mission to patrol and observe. We have no wish for events in this region of the world to become chaotic and violent. At great depth, the VNN Danielle watched, her "longmast" extended almost to its maximum.

Captain Kate Adenview considered her options carefully. Clearly this was none of Vastiva's affair - and their presence was not likely to be discovered without active sonar in the area, or the Danielle moving suddenly.

Still, as a Changeling-class submarine, there weren't as many options as she'd have enjoyed aboard her Pierpont, the VNN Sabrakar...

*On board the USS Shazbot (7 hours later)*

Admiral George L. Wallace was newly appointed as leader of the 1st Naval HAVOC group while the rest of the Admirality went though testing at a location that he didn't know of. They were 7 hours out of port heading to target location at flank speed. Unknown to them, it would take longer than anticipated to get to the location. The Marine Vehicle drivers were below deck cleaning off the weaponry that was on the different Warthog's. The Marine Air Wing pilots were doing final checks on the weapon systems and flight controls of the Pelican and Garrison aircraft. We were not to have any problems in this first major deployment of the newly formed Shazbotdom Marine Corps.

Computer Screen: "Checking......calculating measurments..of launch area..of pelican......Data Complete. Can fit 4.1765 Pelican in launch area."

The deck cheif then walks over to check the comptuer screen. He then looks over at the lauch area and then back at the computer screen.

*On Board the USS Shaz Bot (12 Hours Later)*
Night has fallen on the fleet as they recieve Satelite images from SpySat 9, located in space over the Nation of Colorado and Texas. They were to be there in less than 2 hours and the final preperations on all the ships were being made.

The USS Hyslop, which was located just off the left side of the USS Shazbot, was doing it's final practicing of General Quarters alarms.

The USS Hope, USS Glory, USS Pride and USS Red Cross, all located behind the USS Shazbot, were prepping all emergency medical stations and making sure all equipment is accounted for.

The USS Gamble, located just ahead the USS Shazbot, was getting 4 of the Garrison class aircraft ready for take-off on the flight deck. The 4 Garrison ships were to take off and do recon of the area with infared and thermal imaging while dropping active sonar bueys along the territorial waters of the Nation of Colorado and Texas.

On the USS Wittenburg, located right in front of the USS Shazbot, the main guns were being repositioned to either side of the ship as 10 of the T-500 Tanks were being brought onto the flight deck and being attached to the AC-01 Pelicans. Slowly the Tanks inched across the flight deck as they approached the Pelican.

Surrounding these ships was the bulk of the fighting ships, and below the water, running silently, was the USS Swanson and the USS Stanford, Both Los Angeles Submarines. They were about 15 minutes ahead of the fleet banging their active and passive sonar for any anomolies in the water, mainly other subarmines. They spotted nothing so far and they were approximatly 1 hour and 40 minutes from the territorial waters of the nation of Colorado and Texas.

*Aboard the USS Gamble* (1 hour 30 minutes later)
The order has been given by Imperial Navy Command. The 4 Garrison Aircraft are to be launched immedeitally. All over the flight deck crew members were rushing back and forth making sure that the Garrisons were prepped. Each Garrison has 1 Pilot, 1 co-Pilot, and 1 bombadeer (who controlled the infared and thermal cameras, as well as the sonar buey dropping mechinism).

A seaman gets set just in front of one of the Garrisons and holds up 2 indicator lights. He puts them together to form a X. After looking around him, as well as behind him, he moves the lights and then forces his arms to the ground. With that Garrison Alpha 1 shoots down the runway of the carrier and takes off. The seaman then runs over to another one of the Garrisons and does the same thing. He does this 2 more times. Garrison Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Alpha 3 and Alpha 4 are off to survey the area.

*Aboard Garrison Alpha 1* (Seconds after take-off)
Pilot: "Flight group, turn to Pi Three Four Zero. Start sonar run in T Minus 20 minutes. Over." (Planes will be designated A for Alpha and their number)

A2 Pilot (over radio): "Rodger that."

A3 Pilot (over radio): "Rodger."

A4 Pilot (over radio): "Understood."

Pilot: "Check those cameras often back there. I don't want to pass by anything. The Admiral will have our asses if that happened."

Bombadeer: "Rodger that."

Alpha one then turned slightly and dropped down to 100m above the water. After checking his insturments, the bombadeer dropped a sonar buey. With a gigantic splash the buey slammed into the ocean and started banging the water with pulses of sonar. Within 10 minutes of flight they neared the water boarder of the Nation of Colorado and Texas, continually dropping Sonar Bueys every 2 minutes to make sure they didn't miss a spot.

Bombadeer: "We have something comming through on Sonar. it looks like a submursable craft, bearing Three Five Niner."

Pilot: "Alright." He switches to the radio. "Flight Group Alpha, target located, designating Target Sierra Three Five Niner."

The aircraf then converge on the position of the unknown submarine. With their camera's, they scan the surface of the water to see if they can spot the unknown from above the water.

Slither moves about 3/4ths of a kilometer from the international water's end and the beginning of the Texan's terrirorial waters.

"Sir, I don't like bein this close to their territory. We can still take out most of their fleet, but if we stay here they could try to mine us or something."

The Captain, trying to break his Chinese accent, responded "That may be true. But if they do that, it will be looked upon as an act of war by the international community. That, or we could tell the international community that we consider it a terrorist attack. That would effectivly turn most of our 40 million citizens against the Texans, and give us all the clearance we need to flex our military muscle. We also have several allies that would be more than willing to help us out. They've only got the one, plus they're fighting another war."

The Captain set his glass of some sort of liquid (probably tea, although anything is possible) down and began looking at his orders sheet. "Have the security department fly 2 Seahawks around on patrol. Tell them not to get any closer to the border than they have too, but if they see anyone in the water within 1/4th of a kilometer on the other side they can cross over and detain them as long as they don't spend too much time on the other side.

The Captain looks at his weapons officer, who is excited at the fact he finally get's to do something. "Fire off 3 shells as warning shots. One in front of the ship, and one on each side. That'll scare off any fish. If he stays here, that verify's that they may be up to something besides fishing."

Onboard the carrier Darwin, Admiral Perry decided that this had gone far enough. He picked up the radio transceiver and contacted the Deck Officer. "Mr. Jameson, inform all crews and pilots that I want their planes in the air as soon as feasible." Once he got confirmation that this would be done, he flicked a switch on the console. He was now broadcasting on all channels, unencrypted. He wanted to be absolutely sure that everyone heard what he was about to say.

"Now here this. This is Admiral Perry of the Fifth Fleet, Royal Navy of Malkyer. I have watched this situation escalate to near violence, and though fortunately no shots have been fired in anger, it is my responsibility to end this before it goes any further. As outlined in official policy, I am hereby declaring a limited Interdiction against both the ships of Colorado and Texas, and the vessels of the Republic of McKagan. All of you are ordered by the Imperial Commonwealth of Malkyer to stand down immediately. The next military vessel or aircraft to fire its weapons will be destroyed. No warning, no mercy, and no ambiguity. I suggest that the ships of McKagan leave the Gulf for the time being, and that the ships of Colorado and Texas return to their home ports. This international pissing contest will only end in needless deaths."

As he turned off the broadcast, silence descended across the entire Malkyeri fleet as sailors and officers grasped what their Admiral had just done. Onboard the destroyer Indomitable, Owensford nearly laughed. Good show, Admiral! This should become quite interesting.

Across the fleet, planes launched into the air and men readied their guns, at the same time flexing their collective muscle as a show of force, and preparing for a fight.

Re: Conflict

The HCIA presented our government with some disturbing intelligence, suggesting that the nation of Colorado and Texas was possibly pursuing hostile actions against one of our staunchest and most loyal allies, the Republic of McKagan. We are watching this conflict with alarm, and as we are concerned about our ally in this conflict, we respectfully request, to use military jargon, a SITREP on all operations in this theater. We will choose our course of action from there. Be advised that any nation that commits wrongful hostile acts against McKagan will essentially be committing those same acts against us, and will thus face our military forces as well. Unless we decide to recall it based on the SITREP, we are deploying a naval detachment to the region, consisting of the two Arleigh Burke-class destroyers D.R.H. Adjudicator and D.R.H. Valiant, as well as the two Seawolf-class submarines D.R.H. Eviscerator and D.R.H. Indomitable. All four craft are en route to international waters off the coast of Colorado and Texas, and are under silent running conditions. The submarines will be operating separately from the destroyers, but will not engage in hostilities separate from the destroyers.

Aboard the D.R.H. Eviscerator, 2200 Zulu

Captain Jackson Kolhammer of the Seawolf-class submarine D.R.H. Eviscerator regarded his bridge crew with tired eyes. It was late for all of them, and Kolhammer was getting ready to turn things over to the officer of the watch. But he wouldn't be able to retire until he was sure his ship was safe for the night.

"Sonar, what have we got?"

"No changes, sir. We're still alone out here."

Kolhammer sighed. "OK. Keep us on silent running, switch over from active sonar to passive, and take us down to hide depth. I don't want anything to catch us just yet." With that, Kolhammer tossed off a causal salute to his crew and spun on his heel, preparing to head back to his cabin for the night.

"SIR! Contact on sonar, sir!"

Kolhammer whirled. He strode in five quick paces back to the sonar operator's station.

"Looks like another sub, sir. They're barely registering. Heading 121.5, speed...approximately six knots."

"That's sure as hell not one of ours. And I'm sure Larson doesn't have any subs in the theater, or we'd have heard about it." It only took Kolhammer a second to come to the answer. "It's an outside vessel."

"Should we try hailing them, sir?"

Kolhammer thought. Hailing another sub in the middle of the night, especially when both were running silent, or near-silent, and not even IDing it, was a damned stupid idea. But he was reasonably sure the C&T navy didn't have subs, or if they did, they hadn't deployed them. Just that goddamned fishing boat. So it was another nation, one that they hadn't heard about.

"No, don't hail them. I don't think they're hostiles, but mark their location anyways and keep an eye on 'em. Tell the officer of the watch to wake me if anything important comes up. And get a report of the unknown sub off to Captain Cracken; he'll want to know about this."

"Yessir."

Aboard the D.R.H. Valiant, 2200 Zulu

"Captain Cracken, sir! Incoming message from the Eviscerator, sir!"

"Video or text?"

"Text only, sir."

"Put it on my screen."

The message flashed up, and Cracken scanned it briefly.

"So, Kolhammer found himself a sub, eh? Well, I'll be damned. Either those C&T boys are farther along than we thought, or some other nation just stumbled into this pile-of-shit situation. Commo!"

Hello?

I also wouldn't want any FT forces in this. It would unballance this.....incident. If you had any MT equipment then i wouldn't mind them, but anything FT would most likely be out of the question.

We welcome your help in this conflict. These nations need to realize that national soverinty isn't something that can be pissed on in an instant. They need to realize that a larger nation who cares about National Soverinty, if provoked, will wipe their small, pathetic nation off of the map in less than a second if they wanted to.

The Marines under the command of General Langley will make sure that nothing happens to any of the fleets with the use of our brand new AC-01 Pelicans and AC-02 Garrison aircraft. We could easily wipe out any fleet that has the want, or need, to destroy another nations soverinty.

Have fun, and happy hunting!

The Star Destroyers are staying in orbit and won't have anything to do with my contingent other than main base of operations and transportation. Aboard two of the Star Destroyers will be Gibraltar-class carriers which will serve as the base for our TIEs. The only FT facets of this contingent are the troops' blasters (Stormtrooper carbines) and the TIEs. Other than that, they're pretty much MT, because my troops don't have the full body armor of the Stormtroopers, just the body, gloves, and boots. And even those are toned down for price reasons, and act pretty much the same as Kevlar for all purposes needed.

As for the carriers, the Star Destroyers will bring themselves into Earth's atmosphere only to deploy and retreive the two carriers, and will not actively fight for any reason.

Really, I'm more of a PMT with bits of FT than full-fledged FT.

A now sober (or at least awake) Larson walked onto the bridge from his meal.

"Sir, I believe we should let everyone know our stance here."

"Send the following message to everyone in theatre."

Greetings,

Some of you may wonder what we are doing here. Well, some of you have taken the idiotic stance of calling 2 ships an invasion and an incursion on a states nation sovereignty. Futhermore, we have been looked down upon for firing upon a fishing boat that was helping spread at the time unknown devices around this vessel. Those, in themselves, have given us reason to stay here and moniter the native nation to see if they harass every nation that decides to be in international waters anywhere near their coast. Continued, we will explain how we came to be in this theatre. We were off the coast of Florida when Central Intelligence relayed us a report of a Texan submarine picking bodies out of the water. Citing fears of human rights abuse and illegal activity, here we are.

I've set my stuff up kind of like yours. For some conflicts I use normal naval transportation, but for some I use a fleet of 18 "starships" we have. They have no function outside of transportation in a modern tech world.

"Sir," a scout said as he turned from his computer console he had been using to scan the area with a satellite. "The Texan's are pulling their SEAL's back to the ship. Looks like we've caught a break."

Just then the XO walked back onto the bridge from his meal, which was just after the CO's. "Yeah, we've had alot of people up for a long time. The Marine Security Detail (MSD) hasn't been off the deck in 14 hours. Since there's a good chance that we won't have any soldiers trying to board us for a while we could have the MSD take shifts to sleep and eat. Even if some SpecOp's do challenge us we still have the gun stations active, it'll just be harder to take them prisoner since we won't have many non lethal weapons on deck."

Earth, 1940 hrs
Above Gulf of Mexico

Blue light spewed forth from space as the three Star Destroyers, the Professor, the Incarnate, and the Feeble Mistress exited Foldspace and entered Sol. The Feeble Mistress began turning itself to both view the entirety of North America and place itself into geosynchronous orbit around the planet as the Incarnate and Professor began dipping into the protective atmosphere surrounding Earth. Their mission was simple: Deploy the two Gibraltar-class carriers into the Gulf of Mexico, outside of the current amassing of naval forces, and establish a TIE air wing on the carriers.

TIE wing:

96 TIE/in Fighters (TIE Interceptors)
432 TIE/ln Fighters (TIE Fighters)
88 TIE/bm Bombers (TIE Bombers)

04-06-2005, 01:55
Due to increased hostilities, the Democratic Republic of Halberdgardia is deploying the Omega-class heavy battleship D.R.H. Vengeance to the theater, commanded by Admiral Jack Forrester, who will also be in overall command of the Halberdgardian task force. Additionally, we are deploying the Seawolf-class submarines D.R.H. Redoubtable and D.R.H. Valorous, as well as the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers D.R.H. Adamantine and D.R.H. Swift Justice, to the theater in support of McKagan forces. The destroyers and submarines are under silent running conditions, and should reach the position of the currently deployed vessels within two NS days.

Current Naval Forces:

Battleship D.R.H. Vengeance
Destroyer D.R.H. Adamantine
Destroyer D.R.H. Adjudicator
Destroyer D.R.H. Swift Justice
Destroyer D.R.H. Valiant
Submarine D.R.H. Eviscerator
Submarine D.R.H. Indomitable
Submarine D.R.H. Redoubtable
Submarine D.R.H. Valorous

Appended: The above-listed reinforcements to the task force have arrived, and Admiral Jack Forrester has officially taken overall command of the Halberdgardian task force.

Destroyers - 4 (one of which is our version of the DD(X))
AEGIS Cruisers - 3

You have permission to fly over my fleet.

I must ask, how well would those things be at taking out subs?
Tannenmille
04-06-2005, 04:25
The TIE/lns have no chance at taking out subs unless they are on the surface, because the only armaments on them are twin laser cannons. The TIE/in (Interceptors) have a slightly better chance, as they have 4 laser cannons. If this does escalate to hostilities, the TIE/bm Bombers would be the best at taking out both conventional ships and submarines, if the subs are on the surface.
McKagan
04-06-2005, 04:30
I've got 4 Anti-Sub Frigates that could probably take out twiced their numbers in subs, but if it comes down to all out naval warfare then they may get taken out by larger capital ships before the subs get there.
Tannenmille
04-06-2005, 04:45
Again, if it does come down to hostilities all of our resources will be sent to taking out capital ships.

Secret IC Transmission to McKagan & Halberdgardia

We have another Star Destroyer folding in tomorrow. It'll have yet another carrier, but this one will hold 1,100 TIE/s Fighter Boats that will deploy from a custom hatch that leads to a specially constructed bay that allows these ships out and keeps water from entering due to air compression. They will be our primary anti-submarine force if hostilities break out, so we can use the bombers to target capital ships.

We figured you had something up your sleve. Now that you've shown your hand, it's time we show ours. We have another ship coming in... and Air Craft carrier that will be able to support the rest of our fleet. It will be able to fight off most of the Texan AF if they come this far out, and once we have air supuriority in the bay any subs or ships that we want are going to be in trouble.

We also have another Frigate coming in. Completly manned with Special Forces personnel. This will be our main security group. They can board ships and/or take our enemy personnel from a hidden sniper tower on the ship.

That's our main asset. This ship could take our virtually every officer on the bridge of an aircraft carrier. Because the ship itself is so small it would be a bitch to locate for a while, too.

In response to your query on the TIE flights, Admiral Braitman, you have permission to patrol the airspace over our heads.

And now, gentlemen, it's time to show my ace. We've got some more ships ready and standing by at a FOB about three-fourths of the way from Halberdgardia to here, ready to support us if the C&T boys decide they want to play rough. The ships we have are an additional three Omega-class heavy battleships (if you've seen the Vengeance, you know how big these bitches are, and all the firepower's probably enough to sink pretty much any goddamned vessel sailing the seas), and our aircraft carrier, the Stormhawk, formerly the Halberdgardian Vengeance. They can provide us with some pretty damned big guns and a whole lot of F-22s and F-35s, respectively, if need be. We're ready to tangle if the C&T boys hit any one of us.

"It's getting very busy out there, Captain. We count two probably battleships and at least nine destroyers coming into our sector - and they're not too concerned about being spotted. We have them plotted at full speed and moving towards C&T at twenty knots."

Captain Kate Adenview considered her options again. "Helm, depth?"
"Depth... Five-zero-zero."
"Swim out the DOLPHIN. Set for remote launch, sixty minutes."
"Aye, Captain."

There was no sound of a tube flooding or a tube opening - that wasn't how Vastivan submarines worked under a "swim out"...

The DOLPHIN shell first dropped towards the sea bottom, achieving bouyancy some fifty meters beneath the submarine. There it lay, inert and silent, as it would be for the next sixty minutes or so.

Meanwhile, Captain Adenview drifted her submarine away from the launch site, barely moving the Danielle faster then the current - slow enough to make detection difficult, fast enough to put some water between the Danielle and the DOLPHIN....
Vastiva
04-06-2005, 07:35
An hour later, the Danielle was just over twenty nautical miles distant owing to "riding the current"...

The DOLPHIN activated. It's head gained sudden bouyancy, pointing the shell head up at the distant surface... once the switches stated it's position was mostly vertical, things began to happen...

The SOX lift engines allowed ocean water to vent towards the fuel source, causing an immediate exothermic reaction - ignited, the shell became an underwater supercavitating rocket, aimed upward.

It breeched less then eight seconds later - Welcome to Stage Two.

The head fired off, carried upwards on it's own set of rockets, while the main load detonated noisilly, leaving behind trash and debris.

At 500', the head's rockets cut out; the piece itself decayed rapidly, pulling itself apart.

The SHARD drone which launched from that did so quickly, courtesy of the last stage - which also served to set the timer to destroy the second stage as well.

High airborne, the SHARD dropped the small rocket - little more then a roman candle with attitude. Sunlight spread its wings as memory metals warmed - and the mostly invisible little drone began its reconaissance path. It didn't worry about RADAR or LIDAR - such things were guarded against by materials and size. Then again, it's AI didn't worry about much of anything - sole purpose, gather information to be broadcast to satellites later.

Slowly, the SHARD spiralled higher, taking in transmissions - and plenty of visual images of the goings on, in many wavelengths.

Gulf of Mexico, 1342 hrs

TIE Pilot Javier Mingus was flying his designated path when suddenly alarms began blaring, and the anti-missile defense system juked his TIE towards the water and left, bringing it further away from shore. Just behind the TIE, more explosions took place in the sky.

Immediately, all 96 TIE/in fighters were scrambled over the Gulf and currently bombers are taking on payloads and readying for takeoff.

Official Declaration from Flottilenadmiral Braitman
All Tannenmillian forces have authorization to locate this object and shoot it down. Had Ensign Mingus's AMDS not kicked in, his TIE would be currently in the process of being fished from the Gulf by Tannenmillian rescue troops. As we do not currently know the nationality from which this attack commenced, we cannot establish a declaration of war. However, all Tannenmillian troops in theatre are on high alert. Any ship that is not from the Republic of McKagan or Democratic Republic of Halberdgardia will be fired upon with no warning if they enter a 5 km zone around the Tannenian Navy. TIEs will resume normal patrol routes over the McKagan, Halberdgardian, and Tannenmillian fleets after this object is destroyed.

"Beautiful," he said to no one in particular. He waited until the last wave of TIEs returned from their sweep of the Gulf, watching each individual light representing the fighters wink off.

Nothing but idle chatter was on the closed Tannenmillian comm channel.

So, he thought to himself, they didn't find it.

Taking the pipe from his mouth, he let the smoke wisp lazily from his nostrils and gritted teeth before turning to walk towards the door leading from the bridge of the mighty ship. Just as he turned, the doors opened with a woosh. Four heavily armed and armoured guards walked through the doors, followed by the most intimidating man in Tannenmille. Reichsführer Aven Tannen, wearing the purple uniform customary of Tannenmillian royalty, stood at the entrance to the ship's bridge, accompanied by no less than fifteen armed guards. All officers and technicians stood by their station and held their right fist to heart, left arm straight at their side.

"As you were," Tannen said, leaving his escort and walking up to the Vizeadmiral. "Christian," he said, smiling and shaking Wengerd's hand. Suddenly his expression turned again serious, wrinkles forming on his brow. "Tell me, what of the search?"

"It is with regret that I must inform you that we have failed. All four hundred of our TIEs spread out over a hundred kilometres, but did not even pick up on a signal. At your command, they will again take to the skies. We are all embarrased at this failure, Reichsführer."

At this news Aven unclasped his hands from behind his back and walked over to the screen, now cycled to the position of all the Tannenmillian Star Destroyers in Sol. After looking at the screen for a few seconds, he turned back to Christian. "Do you think they'll let us? Star Destroyer sensors are much more powerful than TIE sensors."

At first confused, Wengerd queried, "What do you mean, s--ohh.. I will relay the message at once."

Again smiling, Aven shook Christian's hand once more and then walked from the ship's bridge.

Transmission to Colorado & Texas and Shazbotdom (OOC: Only two nations known to Tannenmille to be in theatre)
With your permission, we would like to bring the BTR Confectionary into the area to scan. This ship will have its weapons powered down as a sign of our non-agressive stance. It will remain in the atmosphere for twenty-four (24) hours before returning to space.

"Admiral, the unknown aircraft have departed. They've returned to their carrier."

Admiral Perry frowned. He didn't like this. Those things did not look like any aircraft he'd ever seen. They looked almost like something out of those Star Wars movies his kids watched...No, he thought. That's just stupid.

The radarman shouted again. "Sir, another one of those big things coming down!"

"Hell...I hope it's as inactive as the last one. Get the SAM batteries ready anyway, just in case."

OOC: Tannenmille, I'm assuming that your ships are all coming down where I can see them, in other words, in and around the main theater of action. If that's not the case, let me know and I'll rewrite this.
