Specially configured Virginia class submarines purchased through a smaller country and modified to fire long range, advanced SAMs have fire on REd Tide aircraft.

In the meantime, Kilo class attack subs and Seawolf SSNs begin offensive submarine warfare against RTN forces.

ooc: Red Tide, I do think this is a bit big of forces. My forces are sorta... not as much. Lets see... 4 divisions= 60,000 personnel. And I did get in some more support units. 80,000 at the most.

Then again, you did post on the last thread something about 250,000 men being loaded on ships. My airborne forces seized the harbors of Yokohama intact, so you should have been able to land your forces without LCVPs. Then again, that's assuming you dont have 4,000 tanks. That can be a bit excessive.

Take my advice and use my divisional organization. 15,000 men, 5 brigades of 3,000 (3 Infantry, 1 artillary w/72 howitzers, 1 support bde). Works like a charm partly because its way more simple then my other organizations.

My mechanized divisions are way more complex. And I'm working on making them more complex. I've spent months researching it.

241 Leapord IIX (Strv 135; Leapord II S with 135mm gun)
303 CV-90s
72 Haubits B 155mm howitzers
54 UH 60s
36 AH-64s
1,900 HMMVW
420 HEMMTTs

Then I'm gonnna remake this into something bigger... call me obsessed.

Over Red Tide controlled territory
0100 hours

The drops had been going on for nights now, Navigator first class Guo Yanzhong knew. A navigator aboard the lead VY8 special operations aircraft of Xia Special Duties Air Wing, he had guided the planes in Second Squadron over seven nearly nonstop flights in seven days, flying out nearly a hundred forty men from the Joint Special Operations Command into Bonstockian and Red Tide territory.

"Three minutes!" the Drop Sergeant yelled. She poked her head out the port and checked the readings on her headset to make sure everything was good. "Green up!"

The twenty men, members of the 1st Guards Special Maneuver Unit-Operational Detachment XS1 filed up and stood at the edge of the ramp. Far below the plane, the looming mass of Central Honshu filled their viewscreens and they sighed in unison, releasing their breath and controllign their fear as they were taught to.

In front of them, the equipment pallets were already being airdropped. Seconds later, the Drop Sergeant motioned for them to go and shouted likewise over the intercom.

Twenty men fell out of the sky and into Honshu, their dark parachutes bursting open behind them as they went. They landed in the darkness, in a small field, and were quickly whisked off by local partisans whom they helped to support in the Sino-Japann War.

General Yumawa Risaako watched as her tanks rumbled northwards to replace the tanks from the 11th Brigade, Third Lancers Division. Her vehicle, a recent SSX1 MBT, rumbled past columns of motorized infantry, Type 98S9 tanks, and Infantry Fighting Vehicles on their way to the Third Lancer's bivouac area further south.

The pretty Japanese Islandian commander stuck her head out of her tank and waved at the men passing by. Surprised to see one of the fewer Islandian women in the tank forces, the predominantly male soldiers waved back and began hooting cheerily.

Lieutenant Choong sighed. A short, lithe Malaysian Islandian, she handled the driving, but even from her cramped driver's compartment, she could hear the men outside.

Males, she thought wearily, and shifted the gear when they approached the extent of the forward lines.

The troops began digging in, and made sure the fortifications were firm. All along the line, artillery and portable bunkers were put in place, and antiaircraft and antipersonnel positions were readied. Engineers finished boobytrapping and mining the no man's land area, and returned quickly on their hovercraft.

Risaako sighed. She didnt think anyone would invade them, but she sure as hell didnt want to see her home country split into three warrign factions; who knew what would happen? Possibly, they could have imperialist North and Central Japan but mildly democratic Southern Japan, as well as a whole host of other activities....

She sighed and turned back to her charts. She had work to do, more pressing matters than s peculating on this sort of thing.

no one knows if anyone from the north and central are going to attack the south, but if you did, we would see a massive troop buildup. The event here was just a routine change of garrison troops, and the front lines are heavily fortified, as Islandian SOP dictates.

The Ninth Independent Strike Division (4th, 5th, 6th ISRs) has been moved to heavily defended bases in Okinawa, following the recent movement of Bonstockian forces.

The Seawolf class submarines prowl the waters, waiting and watching for Red Tide ships, espeically since they cant stay in the harbor of theirs forever. And if they do, one could always launch torpedoes into the bay or cruise missiles and hit their ships.

The Islandian Forces Command has given an order to all submarine forces in the area to hunt Red Tide ships, pending secret instructions from Admiral Jun of the Joint Military Council.

The Politburo, reluctant to risk open war with Red Tide unless given ample proof of their backstabbing, has not authorized a full offensive deployment; however, they have given mobilization orders to the Pacific forces and have raised readiness levels to Theta.

The words LTN apeared on the TV screen as the Red Tide national anthem played. Tatanya Kapinski could be seen reading herself for the broadcast. THe words faded and the music stopped playing. Kapenski looked at the screen and began too speak.

"Today is a sad day for our forces...The Rebels have assasinated our glorious commander Comrade General Tatarin. We bring you now too his funeral."

The picture changed too a large room at the docks. soldiers stood their heads bowed down in respect too their fallen general. The coffin could be seen draped in red cloth. Colenol Bulba could be seen making a speech

"Today is a sad day for us all. OIur beloved General is dead. He came here too free the Japannese from oppression and corruption... AND THIS IS WHAT HE GETS!? I will gladly-as his second in command- take uo therole as general of the RTEF."

He then took a deep breath and yelled out the last part.

"LONG LIVE THE DOMINION! LONG LIVE THE SUPREME COMMANDER! LONG LIVE DESPOTISM GOVERMENT OF JAPANN!!" And with that the camera went too commercials.

Meanwhile at a Resistance held village within Red Tide occupied territory.

Tanks rolled through the streets of this village. soldiers quickly followed excuting anybody they found. The men didnt care who they excuted. They just wanted revenge for the fall of their general.

"Get hte women and children out," Lt. Chiang shouted. He tossed a missile launcher to one of his men and told him to set up. He nodded and vanished into the underbush.

"Get to the other town," Chiang told the resistance leader. "Tell them of the tyranny of Red Tide, tell them a thousand things if u want, but make sure they will hate Red Tide forever."

Chiang grimaced as he remembered the words from his psyops course. What a strange thing that they would be proven right today, he thought.

He watched as the men advanced on their positions; once again, he was leading troops against a determined enemy, once again he was outgunned and outnumbered.

And once again, he would lose his men. He sighed, and hit the intercom.
"Good luck boys. Kill as many of them as you can and get the hell out of there as soon as you can."

He closed his eyes as the mines detonated, and explosions dug into the advancing men. He lifted his assault carbine, a leftover Japanese rifle with scope and grenade launcher, and fired at the closest man.

"FIRE!" he yelled.

Seven ATS antitank missiles wooshed out in unison and slammed into Red Tide's tanks. Quickly, machine gun positions to the rear opened fire on the advancing troops, and grenades popped into the Red Tide forces.

"If only we had airsupport," Chiang muttered. He heard the drone of a plane int he sky and looked up. To his astonishment, a dark, gray green attack helo, probably a Comanche no doubt bought for the Department of Subversion for its secret activities, fired its rockets into the troops. Joined by another Comanche, the two craft began to fire into the advancing troops, emptying their loads of rockets and machine gun fire.

"How the hell did they get an Apache into here?!" he wondered. No time for that though, so he simply shouldered his rifle and began firing.

At Narita airport, more aid was flown in on C-5 cargo planes. Bonstocknian soldiers quickly rebuilt the city, and started to teach Swedish to young Japannese children. They styled themselves as liberators, and hoped that the Japanese would join them.

As this happened, a few helicopters flew in counter infultration units to areas where enemy C-130s had flown. If any more were to fly over, they would be shot down by JAS 39 patrols.

8 J37s from the Fifth Advanced Fighter Division rocketed across the border between Bonstock held territory and the Pacific. Below them, the surf broke ont he beach and sun glittered off the water, but they were not htere for sightseeing.

They slowly edged apart, until they flew in a loose formation. Their radars detected nothing yet, but they supposed that was about to change. If anyone challenged them, they would say that they had lost their way.

To the east, Captain Naomi Tranh watched as her men flew off. She sighed, and hit the intercom in her J16.
"Bonstockian airspace command, this is Naval Fighter Detachment 418 from Seabourne Echoes. I have lost several of my planes in a routine training flight, and I would appreciate it if you can help me locate them." She gave their callsigns (Junmiao 1-6). She also gave coordinates of where she saw them last, but that was about fifty km to the north, and they were to her east, so that was that.
She hoped they would be alrite and that they would fool Bonstock's air defences.

She sighed. Not likely, she thought, and banked her J16 to the right. Her squadron followed.

Meanwhile, the eight fighter planes, not six as was originally stated, moved faster. They were only armed with AAMs and four HARMs each, and they really had no intention of shooting unless they found a JAS patrol. Nonetheless, they wanted to see how effective the radar was, so they were supposed to overfly Honshu from one end to the other (across the island) while Junmiao 8 and 9 were to fly the length of the island.

The two J37s broke off and hit the throttles.

*******
The specially modified H9 zoomed over Honshu, its ECM suite blinking as the ARC worked at full power. Behind it, two more H9s flew, readying their cargo of paper leaflets for drop.

The lead opened its cargo bay and hundreds of thousands of paper leaflets fell out over bonstockian territory. The others followed suit, and within minutes, weighted leaflets descended into Bonstockian territory.

The H9s shut their bays and turned the other way, pushing the throttles. They headed back to bases in Mainland China.

All over Northa nd central Japan, H9s dropped leaflets encouraging those living in Red Tide and Bonstock's territories to resist and fight.

Unfortuanatly for the Islandians Red Tide had a new kind of tank armor on the block. Composite Titanium Armor(or CTA) this armor shrugged off even the Helos missiles... several(at least 10) VHS-1 MISSILE DEFENDERs (a high-tech rocket launcher/handheld SAM combination) were shot off at the helos.

Meanwhile at a near by town

The Japanese people who had escaped the village reached the town just too find it completely empty... except at the town square. Red Tide troops had heared the citizens into the center. A Red Tide luitnent and a Japanese man aproached the circle of troops. The Japanese man began too point out a man, women, or child in the crowd and say "him" or "her". The soldiers would then seize the man, woman, or child and drag them too some trucks nearby. After the some of the people in the town saquare had been rounded up the Japanese man said "thats all of them" and the trucks(escorted by 2 T-90 tanks) rolled away. The rest of the people were released and the luienent handed the man a sack full of money.

Chiang watched the explosions. He smiled, and shook his head. Even if Red Tide had good armor, people died. That was a fact he could always count on.

He readied the fifteen thousand pound bomb buried in the outskirts of the village, and when his surviving men reported in, pressed the button.

A shockwave threw him to the ground, as well as wiped the REd Tide troops off hte face of the earth.

Chiang smiled. If he couldnt do it that way, do it the other way. He was kinda glad that Command dropped in a 15 thousand pounder by way of parachute pallet, and he was glad he used it. Now he only had several thousand pounders left, so...

Explosions rang all around them as Chiang grabbed his men and threw them into the back of an LAV. He radioed Command thru his R/SAT-X, and shouted, "ANY TIME NOW!"

He was really hoping for another miracle, but as he saw one of the COmanches go down in flames and the other one, desperate outgunned and outnumbered, fire off its Swallow helicopter Air Engagement Missiles, wallowing int he blast, unable to keep itself up before a missile slammed into it and took it down with a blast.

Chiang shuddered and mutterd a quick prayer for the soul of those who were just killed; those he killed he could care less about.
"COME ON!" he shouted over the intercom. Men died all around him as two more LAVs were destroyed, but they managed to run the hell out of there. But as he made the forest, CHiang looked up and saw dark shapes, the shapes of aircraft....

THe shapes of J37s from the Xia Squadron, who had infiltrated into the area before. Twisting and weaving, they fired their S/RAEMs into the JAS Gripens, and let loose a few multiple phase HARMs to target the other craft.

Chiang managed to pull over and herd the women and children into an underground tunnel. They had made sections of kilometer long tunnel networks wide enough to move small vehicles through, but which would collapse on larger objects from the Sino Japann war.

Chiang marveled at the hundreds of people underground, cleaning weapons, distributing pamphlets. WHen they saw him, they raised their fists in defiance and shouted, "BANZAI! ONE THOUSAND YEARS TO THE RESISTANCE!"

Vice Premier Park Hyemin as she looks over her shoulder at the crowd below, after speaking for Premier Chai Jun at the Politburo today.

"Citizens and residents, Asians and others, Islandians all, today we gather to formally declare war on the imperialistic dog nations of Bonstock and Red Tide. Having not satisfied themselves with trying to kill our leaders first at a diplomatic conference in our OWN territory, and then at a conference in the esteemed nation of Xiaguo, they force themselves upon Asia in an act that could not be deemed any less than rape of the highest order. Our soldiers, brave men and women, who are now fighting and dying alongside our valiant allies in the Pacific, especially in Japan, deserve our utmost support.

"Too long has Japan stayed under the support of the facists and the totalitarians, who have always led the Asian people and the rest of the world to such a misconcieved, skewed notion of Japanese intentions that all of Asia fears and secretly loathes them. No more shall this happen; with a united Japan and the crushing of Bonstockian and Red Tide imperialist forces in the Pacific-only then will we truly be free. For no one anywhere can be free while others elsewhere are oppressed, and for centuries, that has remained our guiding words.

"We shall stand firm and not be shaken by the dogs who dare oppress Asia," Hyemin finished. The crowd, (numbering around 500,000), composed of all groups of people in Islandia, gathered in Admiral Kim Square, where Hyemin spoke. Some originally had only wanted to see the beautiful new Vice Premier speak, but upon hearing her words, they began to cheer and clap, exulting in their proclaimed mission to rid Asia of imperialism.

Park Hyemin threw a last glance at her people after fond farewells, and the public froze, seeing her image as a mirage in teh darkening tropical night. the podium was lighted witha brilliant white light, and her eyes seemed haunted as she turned her back on her people to leave for the war council. Insignificant as it was, the public were haunted by the sad, fleeting glimpse of their Premier, something they had never seen before.

In the major cities and small towns of Agrigento, as word comes through that Bonstock has begun offensive operations against East Islandia, a new version of the Agrigentian National Anthem, which is in turn a version of the Italian National Anthem has begun to surface. While the lyrics vary from area to area, the central theme remains the same....

Fratelli d'Agrigento
L'Agrigento s'è desta
Dell'elmo di Umberto
S'è cinta la testa.
Dove'è la Vittoria?.
Le porga la chioma;
Chè schiava di Sicilia
Iddio la creò.
Stringiamoci a coorte,
Siam pronti alla morte:
Agrigento chiamò!

Noi siamo da secoli
Calpesti e derisi,
Perchè non siam popolo,
Perchè siam divisi;
Raccolgaci un'unica
Bandiera, un speme;
Di fonderci insieme;
Già l'ora suonò.
Stringiamoci a coorte,
Siam pronti alla morte:
Agrigento chiamò!

Uniamoci, amiamoci;
L'unione e l'amore
Rivelano ai popoli
Le vie del Signore:
Giuriamo far libero
Il suolo natío;
Uniti per Dio
Chi vincer ci può?.
Stringiamoci a coorte,
Siam pronti alla morte:
Agrigento chiamò!

Ogni uom di Ferruccio:
Ha il cuor e la mano.
I bimbi d'Agrigento
Si chiamano Balilla:
Il suon d'ogni squilla
I vespri suonò.
Stringiamoci a coorte,
Siam pronti alla morte:
Agrigento chiamò!

Son giunchi che piegano
Le spade vendute:
Già l'Aquila da Bonstock
Le penne ha perdute.
Il sangue d'Agrigento
E il sangue East Islandia
Bevè col Cosacco
Ma il cor le bruciò
Stringiamoci a coorte
Siam pronti alla morte:
Agrigento chiamò!

Agrigentian brothers,
Agrigento has arisen,
With Umberto's helmet
binding her head.
Where is Victory?
Let her bow down,
For God has made her
The slave of Sicilia.
Let us gather in legions,
Ready to die!
Agrigento has called!

We for centuries
Have been downtrodden and derided,
Because we are not a people,
Because we are divided.
Let one flag, one hope
Bring us together;
The hour has struck
For us to join forces.
Let us gather in legions,
Ready to die!
Agrigento has called!

Let us unite and love one another;
For union and love
Reveal to peoples
The way of the Lord
Let us swear to free
Our native soil;
If we are united under God,
Who can conquer us?
Let us gather in legions,
Ready to die!
Agrigento has called!

Every man has the heart
and hand of Ferruccio.
The children of Agrigento
Are all called Balilla;
Every trumpet blast
Sounds the Vespers.
Let us gather in legions,
Ready to die!
Agrigento has called!

Mercenary swords
Are feeble reeds,
And the Bonstock eagle
Has lost his plumes.
This eagle that drunk the blood
of Agrigento and East Islandia,
together with the Cossack (Red Tide),
But this has burned his gut.
Let us gather in legions,
Ready to die!
Agrigento has called!

The explosion ripped through the village... not even the tanks armor could hold out agianst it. 2/3 of the tanks there were lost. alf of the soldiers there(about 700) died. The remains began too pull out. It seemed like thespeacial forces had won... But then a single helicopter apeared on the horizon. It had the Red Tide insignia but it was unlike any copter the East Islandians had ever seen. For one thiing it had no visible weapons. Then out of no where 20 heavy AT missiles dropped from the bottom of the copter, their rockets ignited and sent the missiles flying towards the village. The resulting explosions wiped the village clean off the map.

OOC:You can have survivors but I dont want it too be anymore than 1 or 2... oh yeah the copter is a new top secret weapon.

The Government of Agrigento was quick to make a public announcement condemning the nation of Royceland for its support of Bonstock.

"The nation of Roycelandia has begun an ineviteable path to war, and has supported the evil, vile and despised act of imperialism upon a country already ravaged by war. This is a testament to the vileness in the world, the true darkness that we struggle to forget. While countries continue to commit such evil acts as imperialism we will continue to fight, and fight we will, often outnumbered, often outgunned, but never outwilled...

"I leave you, the people of Agrigento, and the world with a small bit of wisdom. These immortal words were first spoken by Mahatma Gandhi, and are to be repeated today, and forever henceforth by the valiant defenders of this great Country and her allies: 'When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall -- think of it, ALWAYS.'"

The President finished his speech and Television sets across the country flashed back to their regularly scheduled programming, already in progress.

As the Bonstocknian divisions hunkered down, firing artillary into the woods, a small special ops detachment, known as Special Forces company 1. The most elite troops Bonstock had to offer. The flew in on C-17s at high altitude, and parachuted using HALO parachutes for a silent entry. About 84 of them jumped out, onto the ground below, on a predetirmined drop zone.

Knowing that the partisans were everywhere, they made sure to hide. Their uniforms kept in heat so they could not be seen with NVGs. In the shadows, they lurked, searching for their targets. With sniper rifles and and small radios, they could call in airstrikes and shoot their enemies from huge distances.

A group of them saw a battalion of partisans perhaps 4 miles away, using their NVG goggles. They used sattelites to give the exact location of the targets. A single C-130 flew from Narita, and dropped a laser guided MOAB on the unsuspecting troops below. The they disappeared, being sure to avoid roads, using sattelites to guide them on their way, knowing every hill and valley from close study long ago in the classrooms. They saw another partisan patrol on the road. Their small commncations radios signalled everyone to the thread. They leaned over, silently as they approached. They set their NVG eyepieces to get information from their sniper scopes, and aimed at the East Islandian leaders. They fired, and then a SAW was fired at the rest of the troops.

Meanwhile, in space, missiles were easily taken care of by laser interceptors.

A further 15 Bonstocknian soldiers were killed while on a patrol. They were of the 2nd Infantry Division, still in Nagano.

Meanwhile, troops began dressing in Japanese uniforms by order of the commanders, to make them look friendly to the enemy, and less of a target to partisans. The Bonstocknian flag over the imperial palace was taken down, replaced with the Rising Sun. The emperor was allowed to return to the palace, where he was forced to make an address.

People of Japan, The emperor broadcasted around Japan, Our nation has been misled by our enemies. President Akubura, a supreme traitor to our nation, has led us to ruin. Now, we have new leadership. I have personally appointed a most trustworthy man, Bonstocknian Field Marshal Gustavus Adolphus, to lead our new military. Japan intends to be strong again under the leadership of our wise military leader. Though he is not Japanese, I am certain he will keep peace in the Pacific, and return his adopted nation to its former glory. I want all Japanese to put their arms down, and accept peace. Japan will soon be a great power as it was long ago. But we will do so not by ruling China. We must seek to make Japan the best it can be, without ruinous imperialism. I want all Japanese men, women, and children to join us in this great crusade. Banzai Nippon!

DF2s, Tu22MEs, and H9s of nearby Independent Strike Divisions 9 and 13 immediately launch hundreds of sorties against the Bonstockian and Red Tide forces in Japan. The elite Saka Detachment of the 4th ISR begin strikes on Tokyo International Airport and enemy held airfields.

The 4th ISR's Shoto and Jang Detachments have been detached to bomb Red Tide's airfields and home bases in order to suppress their manufacturing capability.

Naval Strike/Anti-ship Units begin round the clock airstrikes on Red Tide and Bonstockian airports. Meanwhile, seven Wolfpacks have begun attacks on ships in the South China Sea and the East China Sea. Specially configured anti-air submarines fire their Anshu X9 sub launched SAMs at the Red Tide and Bonstockian aircraft.

"Vice Premier," Lieutenant Van said softly, bowing her head as Premier Park Hyemin glided into the room. "Greetings to the War council."

"At ease, Lieutenant," she ordered. "What news have you for the Council?"

"Red Tide has begun transportation of chemical weapons," Lieutenant Van reported, giving them all a copy of her latest report. "For use on Japan and our forces."

Curses were heard throughout the room. "Impossible!" Admiral Qiao exclaimed. "They couldnt possibly do this!"

"Our brother doesnt think so," Admiral Jun retorted dryly. "You know, he wrote a report about this very possibility and asked us to create an op-plan."

"Of course, being who we are, we did," General Shun replied. "But the plan calls for massive bombardment of Red Tide and total war.
"Now here is the question," he said, leaning forward. "Can we blow them up without them destroying us?"

"Whether we will or not, I will not permit them to fire those missiles," Park stated, her eyes steely. "And i'm certain Premier Chai would not either, as i have talked to her about the possibility. Put the op-plan into effect, and lock down our nation. If a single ICBM comes thru, and one of you are still alive-"
She turned her head ever so slightly to look at them. "Dont let it happen."

The officers stiffened in their seats. "Yes ma'am," they replied in unison.

"Good," she said. "Do what you must now."

partisans dont travel in battalions; give me more credit than that. companies of about 40-50 are the most, and unless they have to take out something big, they dont travel in big groups.

Check out Mao's "On Guerilla Warfare," TE Lawrence's "Seven Pillars of Wisdom," and Suntzu's "Art of War."

A round slammed intot he head of the partisan next to him. Lt. Chiang ducked, and cursed. He wished he had enough of the new, cheaper, stronger and lighter Spidersteel/Kevlar 40 helmets to equip his men with. He sighed, and waved for the snipers to open up.

Grenades thudded into the ground near the Bonstockians, and suppressed shots were fired. Mortar teams set up, and began shelling the Bonstockian positions.

Chiang muttered, not seeing anything shockingly visible through the infrared scopes. Well, the only consolation he had was that the Islandian biogel, present in the body armor of the partisans and in his men's gear, kept their IR signatures as low as that of the surrounding environment.

The two sides blazed away at each other in the darkness. As the Islandians kept up fire, another two groups of partisans, led by EI special forces, circled around. Soon, 5.56mm fire burst out from the back of the detachment, followed by the woosh-flare of ATS-P (antipersonnel configuration) missiles and rifle grenades.

The First Advanced Fighter Division's elite Musa Brigade (all Korean fighter pilots) flew low over the East China Sea. THey had flown for nearly an hour already, and had topped up again from KH9s five minutes ago, as their leader wanted them to have all the fuel they could have.

Minutes later at RP Shimata, they were joined by Vermilion, Xia, and Katana Squadrons.

"Are you sure the Red Tide guys are this way?" Captain Naomi Tranh asked.

"Roger that, Captain," Lt Chuan replied. He grinned at Captain Tranh's picture on his flight console. No time for that, though; they had to take out the Red Tide planes.

"HERE THEY COME!" a colonel aboard the Cloudwatch W34 AWACS yelled. "BANDITS INCOMING!"

The J37s and J16s split into wingpairs, and flew to engage the Red Tide aircraft, seeking to destroy their lethal cargo of chemical weapons. Four squadrons of Su37s and J10NX5s flown by the Second Flag Reserve's Forty First Fighter Detachment, were forty klicks to the east, searching on their own vector.

Four squadrons of J14/16s were twelve km to the west, ready if needed.

The 2nd Infantry division, having just recieved its heavy equipment, began sending out its reconaissence squadron, which contained 13 CV 90s and 9 Leapord IIXs. They rode out of town, as the remaining forces prepared defenses of Nagano, and began brainwashing the populace into helping them. They played the emperor's broadcast in the streets, and many young men volunteered to help defend the area. Nearly 3,000 men, inspired by the words of their emperor (though he was forced to say those words), were fielded in the woods, and patrolled for partisans. AK-74s were flown in, and handed out to them.

The recon squadron made contact with an advance unit, probably a recon patrol like themselves. At a distance of 5 miles, the 9 Leapord IIX tanks fired their 135mm guns, targetting the East Islandians. Then they withdrew, knowning the position of the enemy.

C-5 cargo planes flew in 72 Smerch MLRS systems to the area. Though mostly unused by Bonstock, they were now to be tested, in combat. Sattelites located the divisions columns, and the guided rockets were told where to go, targetting individual tanks and APCs. All 72 fired off all of their rockets, and then reloaded for a second strike.

The Bonstocknian special operations forces called in more airstrikes, this time from Red Tide's B-52s (ooc: hope you don't mind me asking for them to be used, RT). They saturated the area with carpet bombs, and helicopters flew in to pick up the men.

Four of them were wounded when a mortar hit near their position.

Bonstocknian High Command told Red Tide to take away its chemical weapons, saying that they should not be used in the conflict. This is not the right war for them.

Total war was out of the question.

ooc: This war should drag on forever... I like looking at the sexy asian chicks that east islandia keeps posting. Keep 'em comin', EI!

By the way, just say it was a "large concentration" of partisans.

Operation: Tenaglie Cremisi, Phase II Colpo Silenzioso
Central Tokyo, 2:59 am local time
_______________________

The night sky lit up with signal flares, casting an eerie glow on the almost abandoned streets. The neon lights and street lamps that had come to characterize the major city were all shut down, and the only light came from the flying phosphorus. Power to this part of the city was cut almost 2 hours ago, by previously placed splinter cells.

The only thing running, oddly enough, was the subway system.

At 3:00 exactly explosions began to ring out, first to detonate were small bombs placed across the street from the Meiji Jingu Shrine. Seconds later and a few kilometers away explosives detonated at Hibiya Park. Explosions began to dot the pitch black cityscape, seemingly at random locations. The true scale of the desrcution would not be assessible until daylight, and by then it would be too late.

Tokyo Expressway No. 3 was covered with debris, and sections of road were missing at precise locations.

The blackout had begun, and the city was being crippled from inside. While the partisans and cells took heavy casualties the city was set back to the stone age, power was cut off to many areas and mass transit was at a standstill. Explosives caved in Subway tunnels and major roadways were inoperable. Civilian casualties were...acceptable.

Despite all this, despite the scope of it all, this was not the true purpose....nor was it the highlight of the operation. For once grafiti was seen on the facade of the often aesthetically perfect structures in the city. Posters and bulletins were widespread, and on every telephone pole and corner kiosk.

Japan for the Japanese!!
Japanese Self-Rule!!
Death to Imperialism!!
Long Live Japan and her Allies!!
Down with Bonstock and Red Tide!!
We will not be used!!

Most notable of these was a huge mural, hanging from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building.

In Japanese Characters: Long Live Free Japan!!
LET ASIA UNITE!!

A great spirit was awakening...a spirit, a pride the people of Japan have been hiding, sheltering and shunning for too long. But it has only grown stronger since then, deep inside the hearts of the people.

Pandora's Box has been opened. Will Nationalism Save Japan, or cause utter ruin?? Whatever the case, it will certainly not make the life of Bonstock's wouldby colonial rulers very pleasant.

Tokyo International airport...

12 B-52s landed on the runway. Getting inside the city by air was impossible as the outer edges were ringed with AA guns and SAMs. Getting in by air via sea was also suicide, as the destroyers would rip any aircraft too shreds.

Meanwhile over the Pacific.

"Damn East Islandian fighters... Lets see how well these new counter measure systems work."

"Say. Where did all these high tech countermeasure stuff come from anyway?"

"Dont know... the technology probably was being top secretly researched on."

And with that the pilot flicked two switches on the dashboard. The little sign above one of the swicthes sad said ECM FEILD, while the other said LASER DEFNESE SYSTEM. Both had been flicked on to the ON position.

Mean while a(nother) (propaganda) news broadcast was going on

The words LTN appeared on the screen and the Red Tide national anthem played. Tatanya could be seen getting ready for the upcoming news report. The music stopped, the words faded, and Kapenski turned towards the screen

"Hello citizens of Japann, this is LTN and I am your news anchor Tatanya Kapenski. The rebels have commited an atrocity. They have destroyed all major transportation nodes around the city. The civilian causalties are numbered in the thousands. Our own forces were not using the roads at the time so there were minimal losses. This outragious act is clearly a intent of the rebels too reinstate the dictator Akubira. In other news the first shipment of food came into today-"

The camera changed too show soldiers handing out food from a supply truck. A little girl no older than 4 came running up too the soldiers looking offly hungry. A soldier smiled at her and gave her a loaf of bread. the girl thankfully wrapped her arms in a hug around the soldier before carrying the bread back off to her family.

"-it is obvious that our intent is too bring peace and stability too your country... not disrupt it. Now for the weather... I hear a rainstorm is on the way comrade Ilyana?"

The sun rose over the wartorn city. Just as Red Tide was able too get the power back up. that wasnt the only thing Red Tide was doing that morning, they had discovered a new way of funding their war effort:looting.

At the Tokyo meuseum and various buddihst temples.

Soldiers were looting everything:gold, cloth, priceless artifacts and peices of art. The temples were stripped bare by the soldiers. The goods were loaded up into trucks where they were then shipped off to the nearest HQ. And from there too the airport or shipyard(wichever was closer) for transportation back too Red Tide.

Tokyo Airspace, Red Tide controlled territory

"1 Squadron, form up," Flight Leader Yumura ordered. "Wild Weasels, do your thing."

3 Wild Weasel Squadrons dashed in, activating their ARC systems and arming all missiles. As they dived, they launched HARMs at Red Tide's air defence systems, and began dropping decoys and chaff.

Meanwhile, ground launched cruise missiles flew at air defence bunkers and missile emplacements, guided by satellites and partisan forces atop Mount Fuji.

The H9s streaked in, bomb bays emptying in a matter of seconds, and streaked out as fast as they could. However, two H9s suffered damage, and another one was possibly downed over the sea of Japan.

Two J34 Wild Weasel strike planes were heavily damaged and presumably ditched over Honshu.

"Dont let the f***kers get away!" Naomi shouted over the din of the battle.
"Vermilion, Xia, Katana, sweep for fighters!" Leader Wu ordered. "Musa Brigade, destroy those planes! Forty First Det, get here right now!"

The Islandian planes launched a total of 100 L/RAEMs at the incoming bombers at extreme range; once those detonated, impacted, or had their fail safes triggered when they missed the bombers, they closed and fired ASXs and S/RAEMs; the reserve forces fired short range Russian made R73 missiles.

Mini laser countermeasures, fitted onto Islandian aircraft, fired at Red Tide missiles. Experimental ARC was activated.

Flying in engineers, the power was restored quickly, because the bombs did not cause serious damage. We will make Japan the most powerful nation in the world, if you will only open your hearts and minds to us. Banzai Nippon! Banzai Bonstock!"

The crowd, which had just gathered, started cheering. Japan would rule Asia. And that they liked.

Meanwhile, some informants stepped forward, telling where to find the sleeper cells. The divisions went on shakedowns, arresting hundreds of foreigners suspected to be Agrigentan agents. A battalion of infantry went subterrainian, into the sewers, looking for suspected agents. Two more battalions went into the subways, finging more suspected "sneaks".

Bonstocknian forces were put on a standby, only securing the area. They were ordered not to attack East Islandian or Asian forces unless they attacked.

Some were young Japanese women hugging the Bonstocknian soldiers. One of them showed Bonstocknian forces keeping Red Tide forces from looting. Slogans were said all over, with a simple message: "Japan will rule Asia with Bonstock's help!"

A complaint was filed against the quartermaster's department of I Corps, commanding Bonstocknian forces in Japan. Some soldiers complained that they did not like dressing in Japanese uniforms, and prefered their Swedish BDUs. They were told to keep quiet, and "act Japanese." Many of the soldiers were immigrants to Bonstock from Maropian Coast, and loked Taiwanese. Many, many more were part Maropian, or decendents of immigrants. They also showed European charicteristics. : That Tokyo subway tunnel system is a tricksy little thing... has anyone read Akiba Shu's book (http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/4896916808/250-8640316-9612208) about them? A bit of a conspiracy-theory, but it does show that even if you had complete Tokyo surface control, and control of mapped tunnel exits, youd still not be able to control sub-Tokyo movement.

And some notes on Japanese reverence for the Emperor... in present-day Japan, a broadcast from the Emperor would have much the same effect as a broadcast from the Queen of England to her people... a few conservatives would follow her words due to her monarchial status, but it would be generally meaningless in terms of garnering public obedience. Now, Japann may have attempted to re-vitalize the Imperial throne as part of an imperialist progorm, but even then, if you look at the actual historical evidence from periods such as WWII, the population of Japan did not follow the Emperor's words because they wanted to obey what he said. Rather, the vast majority did so because, under the military-zaibatsu junta of the time, they didnt have any choice. Once choice arose (during the liberalism of the 1920s, then again after the surrender continuing on to the present day) they simply viewed the Emperor as an archaism.

Just some thoughts from an oft-silent thread observer

The soldiers (reluctantly) put back the artworks, gold, cloth, linen, silver, and other stolen objects. But a few tried too sneak some under their uniforms... they were shot by their officers immediatly.

With the surpise air raid a complete success the Red Tideans doubled their security measures. They added an extra cirlce of AA and Gattling guns aswell as SAMs.

The Bonstocknian soldiers gather, ready for their next move.

Meanwhile, in Bonstock, High Command met in the situation room.

"General Lung," said the Field Marshal, "Is our operation ready?"

"Yes, sir. Operation Adrianople Viking is completly ready."

"Perfect. Where is Admiral Stueben?"

"Not present, sir. But I have a report from him concerning Adrianople Viking." He handed a dispatch to Adolphus. He read it, looking at it carefully.

"Are you sure we can be so well coordinated?"

"I'm not sure. It is a very ambitious operation because of its interconnection. It could end up as successful as our invasion of Bonstock during the civil war, or it could be as disasterous as Gallipoli."

"Do we have a response from Taiwan concerning the matter?"

"No."

"Give them an ultimatum. Allow free passage and sign a non aggression pact, or be terminated."

The General looked into the Field Marshal's eyes. "What if they go to war?"

"The I will take full control of Operation Adrianople Viking."

"Sir, it is a two part operation. Are you sure?"

"Bring me my command plane. Taiwan has 24 hours. The rest of them have 12."

"Yes, sir."

A transmission was sent to Taiwan.

President Chen,

Bonstocknian forces are currently gathering in Maropian Coast. As our old ally, we ask that you abandon your mobilization that our agents have observed. We seek not war with you, as we have been friendly since you were created as a nation. I remind you that if Bonstock had not stepped in, you would be ruled by Automagfreek. We demand that you sign a non agression pact and allow free passage of Bonstocknian forces through your country. If you do not adhere to these demands within twenty four hours, we will terminate your existance. We hope you choose the best choice for you.

You have 24 hours. Use them wisely.

Meanwhile, the soldiers restored power, and tried to get the civilian populace to help. Many of them (actually virtually all of them, including officers), started flirting with local women. They had to do it fast; there was little time. Guides, many of them young women infatuated to the soldiers, helped direct the forces. Weary, their guidance was double checked against sattelite maps and special forces knowledge.

Meanwhile, the dirty campaign to win the hearts and minds of Japanese. The stopping of Red Tide looters gained respect for the Bonstocknian soldier (at the expense of Red Tide). As opposed to an oppresive Red Tide man, the Bonstocknian soldier seemed professional, merciful, and able to do good. This was in part fueled by the soldier's lust for cute young women, who grew to trust the Bonstocknians. Hopefully, the Bonstocknians could trust them. Hopefully.

OOC
you've found a way to put laser batteries in space?
.....thats kinda hard.

And using their women against them? tahts kinda low.

IC
Islandian agents under Director Kau have undertaken an elimination campaign against Bonstockian intelligence operatives in Taiwan, unbeknownst to the government there.

H9s begin high speed runs over Bonstockian held airspace, dropping not HE bombs and deadly ordinance, but rather flyers proclaiming that all Japanese girls who cavorted with Bonstock were collaborators and that they were sleeping with the enemy. The pamphlets announced that all ladies found with Bonstockians should be punished, and vowed that Islandian soldiers did not carry out an active campaign of subversion against Japanese women, unlike their BOnstockian enemies.

*******

Ground based laser batteries have begun offensive strikes against Bonstockian satellites. Rumors abound of the Islandian government requesting aid from West Coral Sea, aid in the form of a squadron of Zulu Vektor interplanetary interceptors.

In a televised speech from the Imperial Palace in Hu-kasa, Premier Park Hye-min announced that Islandia and the Azn Resistance would stand behind Taiwan, now and forever, and that so long as Islandia stands, Taiwan will not be ruled by Bonstock nor any other repulsive race which seeks to use imperialism. She pledged to support Taiwan in its endeavors to resist the imperialistic words of the Bonstockians, and as an ice-breaking attempt, ordered the shipment of eighty J37S9 Forward Swept Wing interceptors, highly advanced craft only now being issued to EI reserve forces (although long in service with front line air troops). For weeks, the sale of J37 craft to Taiwan was hotly debated, but now, with aggressive Bonstockian overtures being made, S1 Systems Dynamix have begun shipping and ferrying its craft to Taiwan under heavy fighter escort. Shipments of ASX infrared air-air missiles and LRAEM/As and SRAEM/As (Long and Short Range Advanced Engagement Missiles/Air, respectively) have also begun arriving in Taiwan.

The governmen of the People's Republic of Spyr (http://www.freewebs.com/strain) issued an official statement today, regarding the escalating situation within Japann:

"It has come to the attention of our government that Bonstock and Red Tide, amongst others, have entered into the war-ravaged nation of Japann, and are currently engaged in actions which bear disturbing signs of imperialism While it is our utmost hope that such signs shall prove to be false, we must iterate our position that imperialism is a flawed doctrine, benefitting neither the occupied nor the occupiers, and that those who support it have placed their own personal interests above those of both their own people and the greater union of humanity. Thus, it is our duty to condemn any such actions, and to defend humanity from the vile depridations of those individuals who seek to harm us all.

To the peoples of Japann, of China, and to those across East Asia, we know that there have been hardships endured by you all, some inflicted by distant powers, but some coming from your neighbours. These events were most sorrowful, but you cannot blame whole nations for the crimes of a few, driven by their own ambitions to oppress all those around them, both outside their nations and within. Now is the time to accept the truth, that we must accept each other and stand together as nations, so that all our peoples may experience new heights of prosperity."

Two Spyran naval battlegroups have deployed into international waters off the coast of Japann, one west of Esashi and the other north of Nanao. They currently appear to be remaining stationary, observing the situation.
