At what age did you lose your virginity? - Page 3

Well, I refuse to rush into anything when i'm not ready.
...Besides, I never even got a second look from girls until now... :(
Just out of curiosity, how do you become ready?. Indeed if you have sexually and at least to some extent mentally matured then what is there to make ready?
That you don't have to be ugly or dumb in today's advances with alcohol and mordern morality (that made me smile) to still be a virgin in your 20's. You claimed it was nigh impossible I said that this is untrue knowing a few virgins in their 20's who are not like the elephant man at all. Unless you think that 20% of the "teenage west" are ugly like the elephant man.
Tongue-in-cheek my friend, tongue-in-cheek. And if I was claiming it to be 'nigh impossible', I wouldn't have claimed 80%, I would've claimed 100%, no?
Accidentally? What? Like you slip and fall and somehow end up having sex?
LOL

Being good at sex doesn't really take a lot of practice.
What it does require is an awareness of your partner and a willingness and ability to experiment to find what feels good to both of you.
I haven't had many partners, but, from what I understand, it's different with every one.
I can say that, despite the fact that neither my husband nor I had many previous partners, we had great sex right from the start.
I can definitively say that pretty much everyone I know who has discussed such things with me, myself included, has got better with practice. But there's a difference from not having many partners previously to not having any at all, a rather large difference in terms of what to expect etc.

Indeed. Please also provide location, involved parties, and given circumstance so the event can be replicated for science.

Well it wasn't for a lack of effort. I'm just about as socially adept as a pig is trying to run across a frozen lake while dribbling an improperly inflated basketball with his snout.
You lie. You get along with me. And that, my friend, requires social skills.

I've really only had two partners. In all honesty, I didn't learn any techniques from the first one that helped me with the second. At most, I was somewhat more comfortable with my sexuality and thus less likely to feel ashamed or nervous about trying things. Of course, if we didn't live in a society that makes us uncomfortable with sexuality, even that possible benefit wouldn't have been there.
I actually had PIV sex 3 times with my first partner. All of them pretty much sucked. His past experience didn't help at all - because he wasn't responsive to me. He was just doing his own thing. The first time with my husband was wonderful, because we were both responsive to one another. We both read each other and enjoyed each other and all of a sudden it was clear to me why people like sex so much.
I'm sorry, did you just instruct everyone reading the thread to think about high school girls taking it up the bum?
No, just the ones taking it up the bum instead of other places so they could call themselves virgins.
all you are conclusively saying is that you can slap your crotch on anything and say that your not a virgin because you just had sexual intercourse... its no longer a matter of who is right or wrong, but your incredible lack of human logic... just think before you say things, okay? i know you can
I'm saying that you defined sexual intercourse as contact involving two sets of genitalia. Two women rubbing their bits together would fit this definition. It's not my fault that your definition is terrible.

Masterbation has its perks. You dont have to worry about pleasing anyone but yourself.
But sex is generally more fun.

In England is calling someone a virgin a common insult?

Practice doesn't hurt though...
And since I've now posted in this thread I'll toss in the fact that I was 21 when I lost my virginity (social ineptitude being the main reason for it not happening earlier).

18 in my case. Meds, a demanding country girl, and a bottle of whiskey being the only reason it happened at all.

Virginity to me is like unemployment: you're not considered unemployed if you aren't looking - why should you be labeled a 'virgin' if you aren't looking to change your habits?
In any case, the term implies a sort of ignorance that many 'virgins' really aren't guilty of - not helpful, especially in describing us older folks who don't bother with that kind of thing. As to the poll, I'm well over 20, so that makes 40-some of us. Nice to meet you all. :)

Nice one. But like all analogies, it can be extended until it breaks.
You're not considered unemployed if you refuse offers that aren't to your taste. So you're not a virgin if you are fussy, at all. You said "no" once -- bad luck kid, you lost your cherry.
Oops, I'm fucking with your head, aren't I?

Dunno. I feel like I could mend it, but really, the analogy wasn't the point. Either way, you aren't likely to get offers if you aren't looking, are you? Maybe if you're younger, or female, or working in certain professions (waitresses, for example), or just exceptionally attractive, but I'm none of those, so I don't know. :p

Actually, yes. But we have the luxury of being male.
We're better off out of it, really. I do wonder if men and women are different in that, fundamentally different beneath the social constructions. Whether or not, I am glad to be male ... it's trivially easy to deny my sexuality. Compared to denying my spirituality (conviction that I am a soul, beyond what is carried in my body) it is easy.
Maybe if you're younger, or female, or working in certain professions (waitresses, for example), or just exceptionally attractive, but I'm none of those, so I don't know. :p
That's why I don't like facebook. It's why I'm always sour on "post pics of your favourite body part" threads. (It's also why I see tipping as non-contact prostitution.) It's why I cling to text, in the face of the sensual tide of multimedia. We are what we think, and for now there is no better expression of that than text.
To me, you are pretty. Or if that word does not suit your male taste ... dapper? Your words are ... the textual equivalent of that sexy smirk ... Humphrey Bogart. Textual equivalent of that haughty elegance ... Cate Blanchet. Textual equivalent of that easy drawl ... Orson Welles.
Dammit, man. I'm not gay. It's time you told us your REAL gender
And don't you have a book to write? Whatcha wasting time here for, mail the sucker to Mills and Boon.

Well ok then, but I still think to say that because someone in their 20's and still a virgin means there must be something wrong with them isn't right, it happens a lot for one reason or another.

Alright, here is my view on the thread as a whole.
Firstly, regarding the definition of virgin. I would say that in a heterosexual context, it would be penis inside vagina. Let us be honest, there has been no accepted definition of losing virginity in a homosexual context, and items such as masturbation, et al aren't really losing ones virginity.
Secondly, I am still as yet a virgin at the age of 19. For me, it is just a lack of opportunity, I haven't yet been in a relationship, and to be honest, the thought of a one-night stand or paying good money is not particularly appealing.

Hate might not be the word; it does not appeal to me. But it is generally a very important need for a human, generates much pleasure, and I see nothing wrong with it. Though I tend to believe a monogamous relationship usually does not last more than seven years or so.
